Harp expects Scythe to say no. Well - actually - Harp doesn’t know what they expect. They’re holding out a Hershey's kiss in their left hand yet their plan is a bit differing from a chocolate.

Scythe looks at their hand and then their face. “Sure, darlin’.” And then there’s that smirk as she holds out a hand.

Harp pushes down all nervousness or at least fakes it and grabs Scythes hand, giving her the Hersheys kiss but also yanking her forward and giving her a real one.

At least ten seconds pass by before Scythe breaks it. Harp looks to the floor, adrenaline and anxiety coursing through their nervous system. They can see the broker out of the corner of their eye staring at them with a dumb grin and - is that fucking popcorn, hello??

Scythe breaks the silence that feels way too long. “Took ya too long.” She pops the chocolate into her mouth, briefly bearing a sparkling gold tooth. “Kidding. Can I kiss ya again?”

Harp looks up and nods quickly, blushing. Scythe barks out a laugh. “Relax, sugar! I wouldn’t bite ya,” she speaks. "Maybe."

Scythe pulls them forward, planting a kiss on their lips. Harp is a flustered mess when they pull back again. “Sorry, I should’ve - asked if you wanted to…or? Something? Somewhere else..” they gesture to all the people at the party.

Scythe grins and cups their face, squishing their cheeks. “Oh, aren’t ya a cutie? Stop worryin’, babydoll! Yer fine.” She boops their nose and wraps an arm around their shoulders. “Now, lemme introduce ya as my partner in crime to my pals. Kidding! Unless ya want that.”

Harp meets her eye. “I - I would like that…to. Be your partner, I mean.” They look to the ground again.

“Damn, yer quiet when yer flustered! Cute.” Scythe giggles. “Well. I’d like that too, sugar."

"AWW!" Broker butts in from the side. "Buncha cutieees!"

"Shut yer mouth, Broker. Now where's Meddy? I gotta introduce him t'my partner, officially!"

y’all ever stop to think about how lucky the good omens fandom is in terms of fanwork? cuz i do. all the time.

this fandom is overrun with fanart (spanning everything from breathtaking paintings to silly doodles, all of which is wonderful), there’s so much fan fiction, and endless meta analysis to be found.

there’s something so beautiful about watching this vast online community of people come together and just create. the fact that one story has managed to instill creative inspiration into so many people is just so amazing to me.

I've seen alot of people talk about how dean wouldn't let cas heal him after he beat the shit out of him while under rowenas attack dog spell, which yes yes delicious angst i get it

there's a good couple things about popular fanon that I really hate but the things that always sticks out to me is what they choose to keep from canon for instance, morrisions Talia Al Ghul, some fanon only fans who very proudly say they've never read a comic sure do love to bring up how Talia was portrayed in Morrisions batman run like they've actually even read it

God this is so real. Evil Talia enduring for so long is a testament to how most fanon demonises characters of colour to prop up White favs. Evil Talia exists to prop up Good Dad Bruce, and canon is a convenient excuse to justify that. (This is an issue for canon fans, too; there are some very ungenerous interpretations of characters based on 1 badly written moment or run).

But yeah for most popular fanon 'canon', it's either villainising a POC or victimizing a White boy. Fanon's love of Red Robin 2009 is a good example of this - it's the ultimate White boy victim/evil POC story. Of course it's not, because anyone who reads it knows that neither Tim or Damian are written as unilaterally right or wrong, but that nuance is lost in vague Tumblr posts and out-of-context screenshots.

Everyone picks and chooses canon, that's inevitable given the medium. But where most canon fans pick and choose based on characters they love, fanon seems to choose canon based on who they don't like/who to exclude. So you have Damian cutting Tim's line, the weird endurance of cop!Dick/the 'Tim and Arkham' thing, evil Talia, Cass being in HK... all of this canon centers on removing or villainising characters of colour.

Not all fanon fans are like this, a lot of them genuinely love these characters. But if your love of a White character is predicated on tearing down a character of colour, especially when you've never taken the time to understand anything about them, that's when it stops being harmless fun.

Am I the only one who got *really* irritated by some of Harding's banters with Emmrich? I know she probably means well, but my goodness.

This line in particular grinds my gears. She's basically insulting Emmrich's home, his job and his life in one fell swoop.

"Un-life"? 😭 The man is a world-renowned professor! He has a skeleton son and seems to be well-liked around the Necropolis. There's no indication that Emmrich was unhappy with his life before meeting Rook; on the contrary.

And don't get me started on the sheer hypocrisy of her harping on and on about Emmrook's age difference, when she ends up dating Taash who is AT LEAST ten years younger (probably closer to 15 if Harding was in her mid twenties in DAI).

Not that I care about age gaps, to be clear, but the hypocrisy is astounding.
