I hope you know that literally nobody is going to be able to live up to the standard you, V*v, and Glitch have set and your arrogance and exploitation of your fanbase and connections has screwed millions of creatives out of their dreams because Hollywood is a joke that isn't worth telling and wealthy e-celebs like yourself have claimed the indie scene all to yourselves and moved the goalposts into the stratosphere.
Nope. This isn't a zero sum game. There is not some limited, prescribed number of indie trophy slots that a few studios greedily filled up, blocking everyone else out. That is not how it works. Nothing any other creator is doing - short of personally sending hired goons to your doorstep or stealing your credit cards - is taking anything away from you or preventing your success. In fact if an indie creator can manage to demonstrate that they've got something viable going, it may help to map out a pathway for others.
I think I'm not going to bother trying to address whether or not cartoons in return for support from fans - an entirely voluntary exchange - constitutes exploitation. And I'm living in the Midwest driving a 2007 economy car with 200k+ miles on it, but let's just skip past the assumptions that I'm wealthy and connected too.
Instead, let's get to the weirdly myopic notion that the indie scene is held captive by three studios. Maybe YouTube algorithms or Twitter bubbles are somewhat to blame, but in actuality there are so, so many individual people, friend groups, and small production houses out there making independent animation, I cannot possibly name them all.
Here are some anyway:
Far-Fetched Worthikids Satina | Scumhouse Noodle and Bun Punch Punch Forever Ramshackle Noodle Papajoolia | Pipi Angel Hare | The East Patch Jonni Peppers Salad Fingers Monkey Wrench Studio Heartbreak Felix Colgrave JelloApocalypse Odd1sout (started indie, got picked up by Netflix) Allie Mehner JaidenAnimations Lumi and the Great Big Galaxy Cloudrise | The Worlds Divide Telepurte RubberRoss James Lee ENA Godspeed | Olan Rogers Ollie and Scoops Meat Canyon Port by the Sea Kekeflipnote Boxtown Kevin Temmer Weebl Joel Haver CircleToons Long Gone Gulch Atlas and the Stars Animist Skibidi Toilet A Fox in Space Alex Henderson Talon Toniko Pantoja Sr. Pelo Hullabaloo Kane Pixels (started indie, picked up by A24) Homestar Runner Fennah Gods' School Alan Becker Dungeon Flippers JazLyte Psychicpebbles (started indie, Smiling Friends picked up by AS) Piemations vewn Metal Family Dead Sound chluaid Jacknjellify Betsy Lee | No Evil My Pride Cranbersher GeoExe | Gwain Saga Horatio the Vampire Mech West Playground | Rodrigo Sousa The Brave Locomotive Finchwing (+ many other Warrior Cats animators) Quazies SamBakZa Kamikaze: Trial by Fire
By no means a full list. That's just YouTube, and mostly just English language stuff, and I didn't even get to the multitudes of Warrior Cats animation collabs.
The point is, the indie landscape is vast and populated by creators new and old, making all kinds of animated media from skits, to shows, to ARGs, to films. Audience sizes vary as much as the content, stylistic approaches, subject matter, and budgets do. There are no compliance standards, no gateways to entry, no goalposts. There's not even any preset definition of success except what you decide for yourself.
Anyway, instead of nurturing your resentments, consider making something. I assure you, it's a far more rewarding use of your time and energy, and pretty much no one can stop you. ------------- EDIT- Made some additions to the list based on comments. Thanks!

Taehyung was associated with an LGBT image early in his career. In 2016 or 2017, he was photographed in a t-shirt featuring Keith Haring, a gay artist, during a period when BTS members were styled according to specific concepts. The song "Stigma," co-written by Taehyung and Bang Si-hyuk (the first author), was released in 2016 and is speculated to have LGBT undertones. In 2017, Taehyung wore a blue LGBT pride shirt during a performance. It's likely that their stylists chose their attire for them back then. He sang "Singularity," a song written by Namjoon inspired by Yukio Mishima's "Confessions of a Mask," which deals with hidden sexuality. In 2022, HYBE released "7FATES: CHAKHO," featuring Jooan, a character described by Taehyung as someone who loves beyond his species and whose love is forbidden and not easy. These instances suggest that the image of an LGBT person was assigned to him by his company. What are your thoughts on this?
Just to be clear, we're speculating that any queer coding we attribute to Tae is company mandate?
Why would they do that? To what end? In a country where homophobia is still a problem?
Here's Tae wearing a Keith Haring tee:
And a post showing what they're all wearing in this moment. Looks like their comfy clothes/pyjamas to me. I don't think they are styled that intensely that they can't pick their own loungewear.
Here's Tae at Disneyland Paris in July 2023 wearing the Disneyland Pride hoodie. Someone has bought two for his security too. Hybe?
Tees and hoodies don't prove queerness. But I find it easier to believe that Tae is either queer or a staunch ally than to believe the company dresses him in queerness like a jacket that he can shrug off at the end of the photoshoot.
Is the company instructing him to keep mentioning CMBYN? To seek out foreign language queer cinema? To reference Maurice in his photofolio? To champion queer photography?
Ask yourself why it's easier for you to believe he's been forced to portray queerness than to accept he might just be queer?
Ask yourself why it's easier for you to believe that than him just being an ally even?
This is so close to jkkrs rhetoric that he is super straight because they're casually homophobic enough to think gay means he's definitely into all the guys around him and therefore feel threatened by any suggestion of Tae not being hetero.
I'm side-eyeing it.
Please if I've misread your meaning here, feel free to come back, anon. But long story short: no I don't think Hybe did this.

Hi anon!
I think this is a limited take, because you only use a few examples of possible company involvement, while ignoring a lot of situations in which the company was not involved.
I don’t think the company tried to make Tae their token queer guy. I think Tae is queer and that’s why we see these things from him.. all throughout the years, and in different settings. Tae is consistent in sharing queer media and in wearing queer coded clothing. When someone shows you their colors.. always start with believing them 🏳️🌈.
The company imo doesn’t want fandom to believe that their artists are queer (at least not now who knows about later on.. when they feel it might profit them). I do think they see the benefit of being queerfriendly. And.. I really believe BTS members are queer allies and/or queer themselves.. so for queerness to come up every now and then (especially now they are established artists) isn’t a calculated move in order to gain attention or money imo.

Review: Yaelokre - Hayfields EP [2024.03.02]
Diving into the viral folk-pop TikTok sensation, recommended to me by a friend.
Yaelokre is a storytelling project by Filipino-Icelandic singer-songwriter and illustrator Keath Ósk, and is, in their own words,
honouring wonderment through song and illustration, portraying an ensemble of four young minstrels known as "The Lark", to sing of fables retold and unsung: from truth to fairytale, granting voice to the stories of Meadowlark
There is detailed lore underpinning their songs; most of it yet-to-be-revealed. They're active on social media and tease tidbits here or there but remain purposely vague, choosing to reveal slowly with future songs. I'm no stranger to music meant to accompany a greater story concept (being a casual fan of Sound Horizon), but I believe the music must also be able to stand on its own merit.
So, does it?
As an entry point to folk for younger listeners new to the genre, it's wonderfully accessible. Ósk's singing voice carries an endearing fragility that hints at steely power underneath. They deliver the words in a lilt characteristic of modern indie pop - not bent enough to be considered cursive singing, but with a curlicued flourish by way of Florence Welch. The instrumental arrangements by producers medyo maybe and Emil Ortega are charmingly rustic and easy to digest.
That being said, the execution sometimes falls short, and these songs often feel like demo drafts rather than final versions.
The weakest link is the lyrics; Ósk paints vivid pictures of their ominous forest world but for the most part that's all there is - individual pictures. There's a sense of unease and strife contrasting with warmth and wonder running throughout, but most of the songs don't really take the listener on a journey.
While the songs attempt the approach of "show, not tell", they still don't really show us who the characters are. Lyrically and musically, they all blend together into a general 'vibe'.
"Harpy Hare", which went viral on TikTok (and as of writing this, has over 76 million streams on Spotify), is a prime example of squandered potential. It's a shame, since it starts off strong, opening with a haunting vocalized intro and lyrics to match -
Harpy Hare Where have you buried all your children? Tell me so I say
and builds upon the eeriness with this unsettling stanza:
You can't keep them all caged They will fight and run away Mother, tell me so I say
The hook is memorable, but also painfully repetitive; further iterations do not develop it at all. Perhaps that is the point, that the titular Harpy Hare is annoyingly childlike in its malice and the speaker of the song is also an unreliable narrator. But for listeners with no prior emotional investment in the Meadowlark lore, it comes off like a minute's worth of good ideas overstaying its welcome for another two. Furthermore, the out-of-tune guitar feels rather incongruous with the more precisely pitched vocal line. It's likely a stylistic choice to create intentional dissonance but due to the copy-paste nature of the song, it becomes grating.
In contrast, the song that leverages repetition cleverly to make a point is EP closer "Neath the grove is a heart". The lyrical vagueness also works in its favor since the central theme carries the tension of being at home with found family yet still lost; "How do I begin when the roof is ever changing?" is simple, poignant, and universal. The arrangement ebbs and flows, with callbacks to previous songs - the leitmotif of "Harpy Hare" in the instrumental, the 'run run run run run' chorus echoes from opening track "Hartebeest" - now this is a song that travels. At five and half minutes, it's a slow burn (for a pop song) and overall, shows the most sophistication in composition and arrangement on the EP.
The Yaelokre project shows ambition and all things considered, Hayfields is a decent first release for a young indie musician. While the EP lacks finesse as standalone music, it still holds appeal to those who enjoy it more as an accompaniment to the creator's illustrations and eventual story.

Young Queen Charlotte, played by India Amarteifio, keeps to innocent pastels in her early scenes, but her colors grow bolder as her power does too. (Liam Daniel/Netflix)
BY VALLI HERMAN
In the first minutes of the “Bridgerton” prequel “Queen Charlotte,” the namesake character complains heartily how her elaborate gown and its restrictive corset made of brittle and sharp whalebone means that if she moves too much, “I might be sliced and stabbed to death by my undergarments.”
Oh, dearest gentle reader, young Queen Charlotte hasn’t suffered in vain. Her every ensemble, and those of the show’s sizable cast, are crafted with such sumptuous detail, that surely all who view them would gladly have them suffer even more.
Even though period costumes are notoriously cumbersome, Emmy-winning costume designer Lyn Elizabeth Paolo and co-costume designer Laura Frecon dispel notions that the actors suffered much (thanks to light, modern fabrics and stretchy panels in their corsets). Still, the yearlong shoot in grand estates across the United Kingdom overlapped the pandemic lockdown and required worldwide sourcing. It seems that their brand of elegant finery was a tonic for distress, and a cause for celebration. The work, helped by a 220-person costume crew, has earned them a 2023 Emmy nomination for period costumes.
Replica undergarments were crafted from light, modern fabrics and stretchy panels to be slightly more comfortable than the actual period clothing. (Liam Daniel/Netflix)
“This [shoot] was challenging, but also joyful. Every time a piece of a costume would come back, it was, ‘Oh, my God! It looks better than we thought it would.’ There was a lot of joy there,” says Paolo, the longtime designer for other Shonda Rhimes productions, such as “Inventing Anna” and “Scandal.”
The six-episode costume drama on Netflix explores the early days of the difficult marriage of Queen Charlotte (India Amarteifio) and King George III (Corey Mylchreest). The fictionalized story of the actual royals takes place in two time periods — the Georgian era of the 1760s and the later Regency era in which “Bridgerton” is set — and includes key characters from the original show. There are several grand balls, a royal wedding and a coronation to wardrobe. No biggie.
Or so Paolo was led to believe.
“I remember Sara Fischer, who is head of production at Shondaland, called me and said, ‘Shonda has this idea for a small, intimate show. She really wants you to do it.’ And, what are you going to say?” recalls Paolo, who was a consultant on Season 2 of “Bridgerton.”
She invented a time-twisting concept inspired by Monet and Matisse paintings and modern fashion designers who themselves referenced historical costume such as John Galliano, Alexander McQueen, Moschino, Zuhair Murad and Christian Dior in his New Look era. Yet Paolo kept the silhouette appropriately Georgian.
“The pitch was, we kind of want it to look like a Met Ball … but to be slightly more on point with the period. We still wanted to have our own stylistic elements that would make sure that the modern eye understood the costumes,” Paolo says.
Corey Mylchreest as King George and India Amarteifio as Queen Charlotte all but sparkle in their lustrous clothing. (Nick Wall/Netflix)
“For the men, we had images of rock ‘n’ roll icons from the ‘70s and ‘80s. So a lot of images of Prince, the New Romantics and Adam Ant. All those people back then who had that pirate chic going on.”
That vision required a mostly custom-made wardrobe that sourced from London, Los Angeles, New York, Budapest and Spain. Jewelers Joseff of Hollywood, Manhattan’s Larkspur & Hawk and Italy’s Pikkio custom made the period jewelry and other adornments. British manufacturer James Hare supplied traditional fabrics as did a mill hours from London that wove custom fabrics. Smaller artisan shops focused on hand embroidery or a particular character.
“It was sort of a small army,” says Paolo, who relied on the organizational skills of Frecon. A giant calendar and flow chart helped them track the flow of work, particularly of the embroidered pieces, which were outsourced to UK specialists Twan Lentjes Creations, Beth Parry and Hattie McGill, whose Instagram accounts illustrate their handiwork.
Other members of the court stand out in patterned fabrics (on Tunji Kasim as Adolphus) and brightly colored gowns with hats (Arsema Thomas as Agatha Danbury).
“It’s so complicated,” Paolo says, describing a process of sample making, initial embroidery, further tailoring and additional hand embellishing before a pattern piece is ever fitted into a garment. Even fabric-covered buttons were embroidered.
The women’s gowns are especially intensive. The earlier dresses, from 1760 onward, required 13 to 20 yards of fabric and at least four weeks of construction; five if they’re heavily embellished. Each ensemble requires petticoats that can add five to 10 more yards each, plus a corset, a pannier (a cage-like underpinning), a padded bum roll, shoes, stockings and garters. The jewelry sets were matched to each costume and included rings, earrings, necklaces, bracelets and tiara-like hair jewelry that was fitted into fantastical wigs by hair and makeup designer Nic Collins.
With two sets of characters to dress in two different eras, the costume designers were careful to build visual continuity, typically with color. Young Queen Charlotte, for example, keeps to innocent pastels in her early scenes, but her colors grow bolder as her power does too. The designers cannot precisely count the number of costume changes, or quantify the number of pieces they used, only to say “in the thousands.” Paolo says Jeff Jur, director of photography, was on board to capture the spectacle and regularly texted her and Frecon to say, “‘I’m doing a full head-to-toe shot of this one.”
Still, it’s tricky to absorb all of the detail, even though it’s there on the hand-embroidered initials on a man’s handkerchief, or the restored antique jet beading and lace on Queen Charlotte’s mourning gown, or the Easter eggs, as Paolo calls the references she wove into many costumes, particularly those in the final episode, which features an astronomy-themed ball, hosted by the king and queen.
King George loves astronomy, so stars and moons are embroidered and beaded into their clothes. The ball was shot outdoors at night, which usually obscures costume details. Jur expertly lit the scene to illuminate the clothes that were so laden with sparkly bits that they twinkle.
Though the final episode was picked to submit for Emmy consideration, the choice was “brutal,” Paolo said. “It’s a huge group of amazingly talented people who all deserve recognition. If we are lucky enough to win, I would want 220 miniature ones to hand out to everyone.”

Flick's Featured Records
It's that time of year again, as the year comes to a close the city is bustling with anticipation. People from all over are lining up to be judged by the one and only Flick of Flick's Featured Records! Today we highlight some of the records that have been beaten so far this month, as well as some new records all together. Here are our top 3 picks for the month of November:
The Hare Stylist: Our friends over at Lucy's Salon have held this record for a few years now, and this year is no exception! However, we've got a new face holding the title. Jan Flare has successfully bleached, colored, permed, and fishtail braided a total of 13 desert hares in 1.5 hours, beating the previous record by 4 hares! Now I know what you may be thinking; although just last week Thomas Peak was announced as having styled more hares at 17 total, he has since been disqualified! It seems as though 8 of his hares were in fact either rabbits or bunnies, meaning he only really styled 9 hares and tied with the last record holder. Congratulations on your success Jan, you deserve the title!
Wyvern Wrangler: Zeke Ranger, although technically from out of town, has gained the hearts and respect of citizens of Skyeport. You may have seen him around, our new beloved strong man has been practicing his wrangling around town over the last year in preparation. His wrangling and wrestling of the wyverns has kept Skyeport wyvern free for the last 3 months! If you've seen one since then, it's most likely because Zeke releases them back out on his training days so that he can recapture them. "It's a bit hard to practice wyvern wrangling without any wyverns around," comments Ranger, "I've tried practicing on cows instead but it's just not the real thing, ya know?" We do know, and fully understand. Zeke has earned his place as our new Wyvern Wrangler, having captured 43 wyverns in 10 minutes. Congratulations Zeke on your new title!
Astral Project-athon: A new title this year, new interest and techniques in astral projection lead to this collaboration between Flick's Featured Records and the state of New Hampshire. Astral Project-athon takes place in multiple major cities across the state, so if you recently saw a yellow hue outside do not fret! The sky was temporarily illuminated by yellow lights so that we could easily see the green shadows cast by the naturally blue tinted souls. Being the first ever in history, the Project-athon aims to put the newly explored skill of astral projection to use! Each soul traveled 26.2 miles west, the first to cross the line (or the soul that got the furthest if all failed) would be crowned the winner. This year's champion is Glory Siccle, having been the only soul to project the full distance in 5.75 hours! Congratulations Glory, we knew you could do it.
- K. Tamerman

Perfectionism is a terrible thing🥶 Although Seth will need a very limited number of scenes in the story as a teenager, nevertheless, since I sketched the character in a U-turn, it needs to be completed in a clean version. But even this rendering was not in vain.
Since Seth is a mixture of animals (I don't think there could be a dog with such strange ears in nature), I had to look for a photo with a mule, a rabbit and a hare before drawing his muzzle. In profile, his muzzle is easily "chopped off" by stylistics, but in full face and 3/4 it is more difficult to draw him.
For me, he looks more like a mule with long rabbit ears than a dog) He only has fangs from a dog) But that's how it was intended, because the key🔐 plot twist was invented precisely on the similarity of the Seth with a donkey / mule)

Love your art style! Just curious, and no pressure to answer, why do you usually draw characters with just one eye? It’s a really neat stylistic choice, was just curious if there’s any specific inspiration behind it. Thank you!
I HAVE BEEN WAITING A YEAR AND 5 DAYS FOR SOMEONE TO ASK THIS/j. I usually think my artstyle is bland so this means a lot!!
I guess it doesn’t have much actual inspo behind it other than my own insanity, but I could see it being connected to that book ‘wonder’ and for whatever reason Keith Haring?? Idk I learned a shiton about him way back when for school and sometimes he sneaks into the artstyle. Seeing the cartoonish lack of eyes sorta made me realize ‘oh. My style doesn’t have to be conventionally normal or anatomically correct’
The main reason is to connect my artstyle to all the art that came before me, before the dawn of time ‘the other eye’ has been something we’ve struggled with. Although I have a consistent enough style to draw both eyes with ease now (that and I draw digitally so I could copy and paste) it sorta shows ‘hey!! Everyone struggles, and you can turn your struggles into funky artstyle things’
It also has a cool symbolism in my art. Some characters have the same eye missing, they see eye to eye, they’re similar. Others have different eyes missing and together they make a set, those characters would be meant together, but they are different sides of the same leaf, etc. But sometimes they do get both eyes, and usually that means they A. Have something weird going on with one of their eyes (like my Dottie painting, one eye is blind). Or B. They are supposed to be the odd one out. Usually related to them dying.
But most of all, my artstyle is meant to be sorta a reenactment of memories. It’s sorta realistic, but the textures are off, the colors are too bright, the nose looks like it’s split down the middle, and of course, they are missing an eye. Artstyles are artstyles, they aren’t always meant to be conventional or normal. Have fun!!
Some examples: [order being married couple with the same eye missing, father daughter with the same eye missing, father daughter with different eyes missing, and aforementioned Dottie painting]
Thank you for the ask!!

How about 💅🏽 and 💁🏾♀️for both Mino and Moro? (I hope I'm not too late)
YAY! Yes of course my friend!
[Asks from this ask game]
💅🏽 How do they keep their nails, long or short? Do they paint or decorate them? Do they bite their nails or pick at their cuticles?
Answered here for both ladies :)
💁🏾♀️ What is their hare care regimen like? Do they color, straighten, curl, or otherwise change their hair regularly?
Minovae
Ah, to be a ganzi... Mino's hair grows about twice as fast as other people's, meaning it's a bit of a hassle to deal with. She has naturally 2a wavy texture, and with how quickly it grows, it tends to become a mess if she's not constantly on the upkeep. Most 'trims' is just her taking her boot knife and hacking off an inch or so of splint-ends, as she doesn't have much opportunity to get to a barber often. When she does get her hair-cut, she goes all in: a short undercut on the sides and back that really shows off her neck feathers. It grows in so fast and it's a nice way of feeling fresh and doing something different until it all grows in in a few weeks.
As for hair-care, she does a deep shampoo wash once a week (grooming nights) but otherwise just a light maintenance hot water comb-through on other nights unless she's particularly filthy from travel or battle.
Her hair color is naturally two-toned: she has darker roots which naturally turn platinum blonde an inch or so out. She gets asked about her 'dye job' regularly, only for her to correct them and say no it's just a ganzi thing.
Morolai
The queen of big hair!!! Morolai is extremely protective of her long, lusciously, wavy locks. It travels all the way down her back to her rear, and is immaculately shiny and soft and silky. A combination of magic and the most expensive care products her kingdom and procure for her keeps it looking this way. If it gets damaged or cut in battle, she will task her magical experts to make it regrow.
As for a barber or stylist, she has a special familiar that actually helps her it, as she doesn't trust others to really touch her hair with the level of care she demands (except maybe Octavia). The familiar is a homunculus crafted for her by Vordakai, with a core based on her acid mixed with potent fey blood to temper it :)
As for styles - she keeps it always long, but she will comb it back and tie it with ribbon and hair pieces to match her outfits, or will tie it up high and tight if going into battle so it doesn't get in the way.
I think, maybe when she gets older (in her 50s or so), she will decide one day to cut it all short and wear it in a bob.
