5 Things You Should Consider When Choosing Retail POS System
Tumblr media
Choosing a retail POS system is challenging. A POS System is designed to improve the customer experience by simplifying important tasks for operating a business. While cost is a vital part of choosing a POS, it is important to consider functionality, ease of use, and other factors. Having POS software that works for your business is a good investment. Let us understand what features will help you search and find the best match for your business requirements. Let's discuss how to choose a retail pos system?
Set-up cost and compatibility with your hardware
Retail POS systems come in two primary forms, software and hardware. The software is installed on your computer, and the hardware is either a scanner, printer, or touch screen. A POS System is consistent with multiple hardware options. Therefore, ensuring that your hardware and software are compatible is essential.
Decide if you want a cloud-based POS system.
A cloud base POS system is accessed through the internet and cloud computing. It allows you to access sales reports and data from anywhere; you need an internet connection only. If you select a cloud-based POS system, there are two types: hosted and SaaS (software as a service).
Pricing: If you prefer a hosted plan, you will be paying for the monthly subscription fees, while if you prefer Saas, you will only pay the installation fees.
The usability of your chosen POS
If you purchase a POS system, you should consider its usability. The software installed in the system should be user-friendly. It helps speed up transactions and improve customer service. The user interface should be automatic and well designed.
Reporting
Explore the features before selecting the POS for retail business. These features are important for a business that utilizes the POS to observe and control its process. It is good to check the retail POS software's ability to grab correct information quickly.
Customer Support
This is a very important function that must be evaluated when choosing a retail POS system. For instance, if the system breaks down, how can it be fixed? What kind of service is available to allow you with the POS? The right POS will have a service center with well-trained and competent staff to manage all issues.
Conclusion
We have discussed the top five factors you should consider when choosing a POS system. If you are unsatisfied with your current POS system or planning to buy a new one for your business, consider services from OVVI. Call them at (800)-767-9585 or email them at [email protected] and let their experts address your queries.

Bunnings goes bigger, better
Shepparton News | 02 May 2016.  Shepparton’s new $53 million Bunnings Warehouse is set to open its doors in June and the company has been busy recruiting an additional 50 new team members to help run the store.
Bunnings Warehouse Shepparton manager Paul Connaughton said the site would have an approximate total store size of more than 18000 square metres, making it the second largest in Victoria.
‘‘It’s a big investment in the region and in terms of employment for local people, with our team now 170-strong,’’ he said.
‘‘Training is under way for our existing and new team members.’’

Mr Connaughton said Bunnings would be in a better position to supply commercial products for the many building projects happening in Greater Shepparton, along with a wide range of home improvement and outdoor living products for its everyday customers,
‘‘The previous Bunnings centre was bursting at the seams and the new store will make it easier than ever for customers to get what they want,’’ he said.
Several of the new team members are also qualified tradespeople, including certified electricians, horticulturalists, painters, plumbers, carpenters and kitchen experts.
They will be on hand to provide customers with expert advice for their do-it-yourself projects.
Every weekend, team members will provide free DIY workshops as well as great advice and inspiration for projects in the home and garden.
Mr Connaughton said the team was excited to welcome local residents to the store as well as continuing to lend a helping hand in the local community with their projects.
‘‘Bunnings is always looking for opportunities to contribute to local causes and we look forward to continuing to provide assistance to more Shepparton community groups in the future,’’ he said.
The development will include a main warehouse, indoor timber trade sales area, building materials and landscape supplies yard and outdoor nursery, as well as an indoor playground and cafe.

Bunnings Warehouse reveals design of new store planned for Folkestone
3 May 2017.  Homebase exclusively confirmed to Kent Online last week that it would move out of its base in the Park Farm Retail Park and move just down the road in expansion plans under new ownership of Australian firm Bunnings Warehouse.

The site formerly housed DIY retailer B&Q who left Folkestone altogether in January. It will be the fifth Bunnings store to open in the UK.
A planning application for the relevant signage has been submitted to Shepway District Council this week for approval.

B&Q site in Folkestone all set for Bunnings conversion
A spokesman for Homebase, which will be completely overhauled by Bunnings over the next five years, said that there was no indication of what would happen to the current base when it becomes vacant in July.
A press spokesman said:
“Unfortunately we do not know what will happen to the former Homebase site.
“We will be handing this back to the landlord.”
Homebase has been around in Folkestone since the mid-80s, with planning permission first granted in May 1984.
Its future will continue in the town and an additional 40 full and part-time jobs are being recruited.
The spokesman added:
“Our team in the existing Homebase store in Folkestone have been made aware and we will be shutting the doors in July.
“This is an exciting development for us as our pilot programme builds momentum extending the Bunnings Warehouse offer to a new area of the UK.”
The new store will span 75,000 sq ft.

Bunnings snaps up former B&Q site for fifth UK store in Folkestone
Retail Week UK | 24 April 2017.  Homebase owner Wesfarmers has snapped up a former B&Q store in Folkestone, which it plans to convert into its fifth UK Bunnings Warehouse.
This marks a change in tack for the Australian retailer, which commenced its assault on the UK DIY scene by converting some of the 265 Homebase stores it acquired last year.
The business’s first two UK Bunnings stores were converted from two Homebase units in St Albans.
Tumblr media
Former B&Q in Folkestone to become fifth Bunnings Warehouse in the UK
Its next two stores, due to open in Hemel Hempstead and Milton Keynes by June, are also transformations of former Homebase sites.
However, for its fifth UK store, the DIY giant will shutter the Homebase in Folkestone in July and move to a new site, previously occupied by its biggest UK rival B&Q.
The retailer said the former B&Q plot is much larger than the Homebase – 75,000 sq ft compared with 45,000 sq ft – and has a much bigger garden-centre space.
The store is expected to open as a Bunnings Warehouse in July, with an additional 40 full- and part-time employees.
A Homebase Bunnings spokesperson said: “This is an exciting development for us as our pilot programme builds momentum, extending the Bunnings Warehouse offer to a new area of the UK.”
Network shake-up
The boss of Bunnings’ British operations PJ Davis previously alluded to potential disposals and acquisitions – relocating when it makes sense to do so.
He told Retail Week:
“We’re always looking at our network plans.
“As we’ve always said, we’ll see a combination of new openings and replacement stores and obviously when we’re replacing stores we’ll close old ones.
“The network development plans are dynamic and we want the right stores in the right locations for our customers long-term.”
Sources close to the situation said Bunnings had instructed property consultants Wilkinson Williams and CWM Out of Town to help it review the estate it inherited from Homebase.

Bunnings set to build new store in Jolimont, WA
The West Australian | 19 April 2017.   Bunnings is poised to build a new store in Jolimont after spending $13 million on a 9,984sqm parcel of land on Hay Street.
The site was auctioned on April 11 by Colliers International, attracting strong competition from two other developers.
Bunnings general manager of property Andrew Marks confirmed the hardware giant planned to build a store at the site, but did not specify the size.
However, a property industry source said the site was likely to be big enough to accommodate a full-sized warehouse format.

“Plans for the development of a new warehouse are in the early stages, and will be subject to development approval,” Mr Marks said.
“If approved, it is expected that the new site would replace the current Homebase Subiaco store.”
He said Bunnings would provide the community with regular updates on the project.
Colliers International director for investment services Ian Mickle said it was rare for such a valuable development site to be auctioned.
“The three strong bidders reflected the high level of interest in a quality development site close to the city,” he said.
The site at 592-612 Hay Street and 2 Bishop Street is in the City of Subiaco, 1km from Subiaco centre and has commercial and residential zoning.
The property has a 166m frontage to Hay Street and according to 2014-15 data from Main Roads WA, approximately 12,610 cars travel past the site on a typical weekday.
The sale reflected a price per square metre of $1302.

Bunnings swings doors open at second UK store today
Retail Week UK | 12 April 2017.  The UK’s second Bunnings Warehouse opens for trading today, April 12, replacing the former Homebase on Hatfield Road, St Albans.

Location:
The Courtyard Alban Park, Hatfield Road, St. Albans, Hertfordshire, AL4 0JJ
The Hatfield Road branch is the second Homebase to be converted since Bunnings’ Australian owner Wesfarmers acquired the DIY chain last year in a deal worth £340m.
The UK’s first Bunnings Warehouse opened in St Albans in February, just a stone’s throw away from the second pilot store.
Tumblr media
Picture: Google Maps
The former Homebase was shuttered in March in order for the transformation to take place. Now a Bunnings Warehouse, it features timber cutting, a colour wall, a children’s play area and a cafe.
Smaller than its local counterpart, the store measures 40,000 sq ft and carries around 24,000 SKUs.
The next steps for Bunnings
With £500m of investment from parent company Wesfarmers, the Bunnings team plans to transform the 265-unit Homebase estate over the next three to five years.
Earlier this year, Bunnings UK and Ireland managing director PJ Davis told Retail Week the business was on course to have the initial tranche of pilot stores – including a third in Hemel Hempstead and a fourth in Milton Keynes – open by June this year.
Davis also unveiled plans to launch a transactional website in the UK, currently in development.
Wesfarmers made a pre-tax loss of £28m in the UK in its maiden half-year as it undertook ongoing restructuring work, cleared out old Homebase ranges and invested in price.
When the deal with former Argos and Habitat owner Home Retail Group completed, Wesfarmers cleared out the Homebase management team and cut jobs at its store support centre, which has now relocated within Milton Keynes.
The retailer’s new leadership team includes finance director Rodney Boys, and is supported by a three-man UK advisory board.
