That night as Daisuke was getting ready for bed, he heard a groan, then a cough, followed by broken glass. The boy with a really bad undereye was startled and walked out of his room. Had thought that a robber had broken into his hut. But he was wrong. There he saw his beloved mother lying on the tatami. She held his chest, still coughing. "Mom?? Mom what happened???" Of course his mother didn't answer. Stupid Daisuke. He immediately took the next step, namely lifting and carrying his mother to her room. Daisuke quickly fetched a glass of water, a bowl filled with tap water, and a small towel. He asked his mother to sip the water. Then he compressed the towel that had been dipped in the tap water on his mother's forehead. "Daisuke, mom is okay."

"No. You're ill, you're overworked! You should leave the task of delivering the clothes to me, you can just sew at home, and I will learn how to do it too. I can take the sewing outside the village. I will buy a ticket so you don't have to work hard. And maybe a friend of mine will help!"

"Friend.." The word was foreign to Mrs. Andou's ears. "Daisuke, have you got any friends?"

"I guess.." Daisuke replied. Then his mother smiled a little. "Is it a boy or a girl? What's their name?"

"Boy. His name is Hara Toshimasa, he said to call him Toshiya though."

"Is he a good friend for you, Daisuke?"

Daisuke feels like his mother's question touched his heart, he has never told about a friend to his mother. It's the first time that Daisuke ever said someone is a friend to him. And being honest, he told his mother that Toshiya is a good person, sincere, friendly, and also not arrogant. He blurted out every positive word he could find in his brain, forgetting that Toshiya sometimes is a peculiar- weirdo-according to Die- boy. "Then, Daisuke, you have to take good care of your friend, Toshiya. Don't lose him. Remember, friends are a precious treasure, so keep that treasure, okay?"

Nobody know what happened, but Daisuke felt like a tear was gonna come out from the corner of his left eye. He squeezed his mother's palm and kissed it after. Then softly he replied, "I will"

On Thursday, Daisuke felt water all over his skin. His legs floated trying to keep his balance. His hands rotated in a wave, between air and water. Then he felt a hard splash of water on his face. "Hahahaha!!"

"Hey, stop attacking me, sh*thead!!" Daisuke shouted while covering his face, swimming away from Toshiya. "We're here to pick up your spilled shoe, not a water splash war!! F*cker, are you even listening?! Ah- hey!!"

And of course, the childish-playful Hara Toshimasa wasn't listening. He continued to attack Daisuke until he's overwhelmed. "Dai-chan, Dai-chan!! Ne~ Daidai-chan!! Come, come, take this!!"

In the evening, Toshiya caught a cold and didn't come to school in on Friday. That Friday too, for the second time, Daisuke visited Toshiya's house.

"Dumbass"

"But it was fun, Dai-chan.. Cough! Dai-chan can you bring me the wa-"

"No"

3 weeks later, they were punished together for being late for school. The reason is simple. The calf, who had come from nowhere, suddenly ran towards them. Toshiya was scared to death and told Daisuke to speed up his bicycle stroke. The older boy, who panicked, immediately stepped on the gas- his pedals were pedaling in which direction his bicycle would stop. "Gyaaa!! Daidai hurry up!! The calf!! The calf is 10 centimeters behind us!! I don't want to die as a virgin!!! Dai-chan, hurry!!!!"

"Shut up, sh*thead! I'm trying!!" And after passing through several shops, houses, and passed a big river and a ricefield, they arrived at a bus station. And the calf is no longer there. Daisuke wiped the sweat off his forehead. "Huuuufft"

Toshiya got off Daisuke's bike and sat on the ground. He stretched his legs. "Argh, that was tiring!"

"That's my line" Daisuke protested. He looked at the side wall of the terminal and the clock on it showed 8:50. "Sh*thead, want to skip school?"

"Eeh, ruude! Stop calling me that, Dai-chan! And no, don't wannaa~~ How can I get a girlfriend if I don't come to school? Ther's a cute girl at class 3-1, I think." Toshiya refused while stretching his arms. "Girls won't look at you because you're ugly anyway"

"Rude! Well, then, if girls won't look at me, I will make you my girlfriend instead because you always look at me, Daidai! Hehehe," Daisuke just gave Toshiya a resting b*tch face and rolled his eyes after hearing that stupid statement.

"Anyway, Dai-chan, no! We still can't skip school. People will think I'm just a good for nothing delinquent looking brat, when in reality I'm really good at my study! Everything needs a balance, y'know? Like maybe we could dye your hair red but people will think you're a good for nothing kid but if you study hard and they know your grades, boom!!! Don't judge a book by it's cover"

And after that Toshiya gave another long lecture to Daisuke. With that, Daisuke gave up and finally it was Toshiya who decided to carry the bike back to their village with Daisuke's face buried to his slender back.

"You're kinda stink, sh*thead"

"Then stop putting your face on my back"
