Happy 21st Anniversary, Sonic X

Today is the 21st Anniversary for...

Sonic X!

Already it has been 21 years since Sonic and his friends had been teleported to another world via Chaos Control, and made their new lives there alongside Chris Thorndyke and his family, fighting against Eggman's robots, until they had to return home to their world and defeated the Metarex.

Sonic X had some good and funny moments.

Awesome ones too,

especially the sad moments where we saw Cosmo having to sacrifice herself to defeat the Dark Oak.

But, Happy Birthday to Sonic X! So you know, I will also be RPing as my Sonic muses in the verse of Sonic X for this occasion.

Korra is happy to see it worked and Sonic is okay. Most likely will need time to heal up properly. She turns to Iroh and remembers what happened. She knew something must have happened to cause her to be send to the world with Sonic and the others.

Well, in any case, she’s just glad they’re all okay.

She then heard what Jinora said and knew because of what her uncle did, with Vaatu, she lost her connection to the past Avatars. With no way of bringing them back.

She’s at least glad to know Mecha Aang will keep his name alive in his world. “Thank you, Jinora. Tell them I’ll be along in a second,” she then turns towards Eggman and cracks her knuckles. “Just as soon as I teach this egg-shaped man what happens when you mess with the spirits.”

Eggman shrieks when he sees Avatar Korra crack her knuckles and he quickly shields himself by using Shadow the Hedgehog, who was looking annoyed. “It won’t happen again, I promise! Really! Just don't beat me up or burn my mustache!” He screamed and pleaded. “I will.” Jinora smiled seeing Eggman get what's coming to him. She then returned to where she was with her family after meditating, and Uncle Iroh went back to his own tea shop in the Spirit World. Sonic and the others went back to Planet Mobius from the super portal with Mecha Aang.

“Father, you have returned. You and Sonic, just like the Avatar promised.” Sage said. “Sonic!” Amy shouted in concern for Sonic as they gathered around. “Boss!” Orbot and Cubot shouted happy to see their creator. “Is he okay?” Cream asked as she and Cheese looked. “Just exhausted is all, but Korra saved me...” Sonic replied. “Teaches you to act without thinking.” Knuckles said. 

“Still, something or someone must’ve caused Korra to transport her from her dimension into Sonic’s world, just like I got here the first time.” Blaze spoke. “Yeah Blaze, but who?” Silver asked. “But why?” Rouge asked. “Well, whoever it was, it's not me." Eggman spoke. "WARNING! WARNING! Unknown mech approaching this direction!" Omega shouted as a mech looking the Dark Avatar (UnaVaatu) appeared. "That's not one of mine." Eggman spoke. "Made a mistake again, eh, my blockheaded doppelganger?" A voice spoke from inside the mech. "Oh no." Eggman facepalmed recognizing the cockpit in the mech's forehead revealed himself.

"EGGMAN NEGA!" Silver and Blaze shouted "It looks like I made a miscalculation with my Dimensional Rift Remote. It brought Korra and Mecha Aang to this world. Though I'm not surprised it's not the same one who interfered with Blaze and Silver." He spoke seeing Korra and Mecha Aang. "So, YOU'RE the one who brought Korra here?" Blaze spoke.

"Guilty as charged, my dear Blaze... and I even made this mech based on Unalaq and Vaatu's work on the Dark Avatar. I found it very... stimulating." Eggman Nega said about his mech. "I call it the Nega-Dark Avatar. With its power, I can make loads of destruction in not just this world, not our world, but the Avatar's world as well. Not even the Chaos and Sol Emeralds can compare to its power. I couldn't care less about what happens to the worlds."

The last thing Korra remembers is fighting against a strange spirit creature. One that she was able to subdue and was in the middle of helping purify, when it blew up. The next thing she knew she was falling from the sky. Falling towards the ground at a rapid pace.

Korra begins to panic a little as she tries to use her airbending, but was having trouble focusing. She soon began closing her eyes and tries to shake off the fear of falling so she can save herself.

When her eyes opened, they begin to glow as she activates the Avatar State and begins using her Airbending to begin helping her form a powerful gust to help cushion the fall. Allowing her to avoid from getting seriously hurt. She soon returns to normal and sighed in relief.

"T-That was...that was... insane," said Korra as she tries to catch her breath. She then looks around and noticed where she's at. "Where the hell am I? I thought I was in Republic City."

Happy Public Domain Day here in the USA!

today, January 1st 2023 marks the day all works published in the year 1927 enter the public domain! This includes books, movies and music.

Here are a few of the most famous and important works entering public domain today:

The final two Sherlock Holmes stories by Arthur Conan Doyle. You likely have heard something about this, while the character of Sherlock Holmes has been public domain for many years a handful of stories in Conan Doyle's last collection of Holmes stories, The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes, published in 1927 remained under copy right. The famously litigious Conan Doyle Estate Ltd has used it's control of these copyrights to pressure movie, TV, and even authors to pay them when using the public domain character of Sherlock Holmes or adaptations of public domain stories. Well finally the last of their copyrights have finally run out and you can publish a collection of all 56 Sherlock Holmes short stories (and 4 novels) if you want, or use elements from these final stories in your own Sherlock Holmes story and the Conan Doyle Estate Ltd can finally go fuck itself.

speaking of detectives, the first 3 Hardy Boys novels, The Tower Treasure, The House on the Cliff, and The Secret of the Old Mill are also entering public domain, as such you are free to include Frank and Joe Hardy in your own work of fictions, but be careful to stick to their characterization from these first 3 books.

However under an international copyright agreement the film was returned to copyrighted status in 1996. But Today it's back back back again in the Public Domain!

Other exciting films entering the public domain are The Jazz Singer the very first "Talkie", Wings the very first Academy Award for best picture (or "outstanding picture" as it was then) The King of Kings directed by Cecil B. DeMille, Sunrise directed by F.W. Murnau (his first American film!) and The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog first first thriller directed by legendary director Alfred Hitchcock

Mash: Cream puff... Cream puff- "Y/n I was looking for you." The H/c girl was in the library in the late hours. "Do you want to eat cream puff with me?" The black hair young man asked the girl who still try to busy herself trough the books. "Is there a test?" He sits next to her, and takes out a cream puff. Handing it to her, "...You ignored me the whole day, It hurts." Finally she looks at him.

"Lemon? She's my friend." It doesn't help the H/c girl, it was clearly that, the blond hair girl likes him. "She clearly likes you." The mushroom head boy just silent and looking at her. "But I don't feel the same way as I do to you-"

"Do you really love me?" He didn't get it, of course he do. He only feels this feelings when he is near her.

"Why would you even ask that? You already knew my answer."

An anxious boy was beside her, what did he do to make her not look at him? "Is there something wrong? Please let me know-!" The H/c girl looks at him and takes his hand. "You didn't did anything. It's just that, do you really love me?"

Of course he do, he'll even sacrifice himself for her. But she doesn't want him to do that, he was lucky to have her.

"Sorry, I'll make it up for you okay?" He said before sitting on his bed, looking at her playing with his rabbits. "I'm their official mother you know." Rayne smiles a little, he doesn't deserve happiness but they give her to him.

"Do our relationship has it means.?" Now it's his time to overthink, did he didn't spend that much time to her? Did he neglected her? "Do you really love me?" He suddenly hugs her. She was saying something but he couldn't hear it, busy on his own thoughts.

A H/c girl was knocking on his office, she looks mad. "You didn't came home for weeks!"

"My work is important-" before the dark brown man can finish his sentence. "And not me!? I always wait for you!" As someone as him, his glare is enough of others to silent. But she didn't, it's his wife after all. "You're overworking yourself again. Eat." She sat on a chair and looks at him, he also miss her cooking. The one who he really called home was her.

"I feel like this marriage doesn't working." He stand up and goes to her "and why would it, is it because I don't have time for you? My work is important and you know that." He said pushing up his glasses. "I know it is! But how about me? Am I not?" If he can let himself break a rule for her, then he can make a time for her. "I'm sorry. I know it's my fault, and for making you feel neglected."

"It's like your just been forced, do you really love me?" He didn't know that he makes her feel this way, he just wants the best for her. To be able to provide for her.

A Quest for Critters

Giyuu Tomioka x Reader

Warnings: Fem! reader, Reader wears a skirt, Established Relationship, Just slice of life fluff really!

Word Count: 1.5k

Summary: You and Giyuu go out to buy some Calico Critters (ᵔᴥᵔ)

Dressed in dark jeans and a t-shirt, Giyuu leans into the bathroom to peek at you. 

“Ready to go?” he asks, watching through the mirror as you apply the last of your makeup. 

“Uh huh,” you hum while dabbing on your lipstick, the color staining your lips as you press them together. Finished with your look, you turn around to face him. 

“I just need to get my purse, and then we can leave, okay?” 

Handsome as always, his eyes fall to your lips as you pucker them, coaxing him in for a kiss. Soft and gentle, his lips press against yours before pulling back, his gaze set on yours as he gently smiles. 

“Alright,” he nods. 

It’s a warm August afternoon, and as planned the night before, you and your boyfriend are heading out for a few hours — to the nearby bookstore, the only place in town where you can find Calico Critters. The adorable flocked toys decorate various areas of your room. Placed among your perfumes and creams, they sit beside the everyday items. You’ve even decorated Giyuu’s bedside table with one — a baby black cat in a blue outfit.

And while you enjoy collecting them, you still only have a few. Since you prefer to get them in stores rather than online, you don't buy them that often. But that's okay because when you do plan on purchasing them, it makes for a fun day out. Plus, it gives you the perfect excuse to dress up in something cute. Days like this are always something to look forward to with your beloved. 

“I like your little skirt, by the way. It looks cute on you,”

A coy smile graces your features at the compliment, and Giyuu chuckles as you thank him.

Heading out the door, he wonders how he got so lucky — such a pretty girl, and he gets to call you his girlfriend. 

Twenty minutes later, you arrive at your destination, your fingers laced with Giyuu’s as you enter the familiar bookstore, the nutty scent of coffee welcoming you from the nearby cafe. The sectioned-off area where other patrons sit and read or quietly chatter. The atmosphere here always calms you — peaceful and quiet. You enjoy spending time here.

“I hope they have the ones I want,” you mutter while getting distracted, stopping in front of a shelf of stationery supplies to pick up a box of gel pens. The shades are pretty, and you can always use a new pen, but then again, you don’t necessarily need them. 

“Which ones did you want again?” Giyuu asks as you set the pens back into their spot, letting you grab his hand while you continue wandering around. 

“The rabbits. I didn’t get them last time, so now I really, really want them. Did you want to check out any books while we’re here? 

“No, I’m good,” 

“You sure? They have sudoku books,” You turn to him with a softened expression, looking up at him with an excited glimmer in your eyes. 

The acknowledgment of one of his lesser-known hobbies has him blooming with warmth. He did mention that he completed his last book of the kind about a month ago. 

“Actually, yeah, let’s look. I need a new one for work. I finished the last one you got me not too long ago.” 

His muted enthusiasm has you smiling, happy as you lead the way over to the puzzle books so he can browse. 

When you first started dating, Giyuu tried to play off his interest in sudoku. At times, his coworker, Shinazugawa, would poke fun at the hobby, proclaiming that it made Giyuu even more of a bore. And while Shinazugawa does still comment on the interest, it doesn’t bother your boyfriend as much as it used to. Especially after you giggled while completing a puzzle with him one day, the corners of your eyes creased as you told him, “You know, in middle school, I was a part of the sudoku club.”  

A few minutes later, he settles on a new book of the number placement puzzles — the pages crisp, little square boxes ready to be written on.

“This one looks good,” he reads over the front cover with a nod, his hands clutching onto the spine as he flips it over to check the back — 300 puzzles should do it for now.

“Alright, now…back to your critters.” 

Grabbing his hand, you lean into his side and chuckle, his focus on the task at hand making you smile, “Right! Back to the important stuff,”

Although, while continuing toward the small animal toys, you can’t help but go off track, shelves, and shelves of other items of interest catching your attention. 

“Oh my gosh, Giyuu, look,” kneeling, you reach down, grabbing a blind box with a series of cat figurines printed across it.

“It’s the only one! Let’s get it,” you say, peering up at him excitedly. “I’m gonna buy it for you, okay?”

“But, don’t you want it?” He wonders. 

“No, I’m getting the critters, remember. So, we need to get you something cute too!” Standing up again, you hand him the mystery box, already settled on purchasing it. 

He must admit, the last toy you purchased like this was quite cute. And opening them up is rather thrilling.

“Okay, maybe I’ll get something cool,” He rotates the box in hand as you continue weaving through the aisles, lifting his gaze when he hears you gasp.

“Look! Here they are!”

Following your voice, he turns the corner and is quickly met with the view of you happily picking up different sets of the toys you came here for, admiring all of their intricate details. It’s nice seeing you so immersed in the act. Giyuu knows how much you enjoy collecting Calico Critters — when you were first getting to know each other, you were afraid he would find the interest weird, too childish of a thing for someone your age to be into. But he thought it was endearing, a wholesome part of your personality that, like all the other parts of you — he had fallen in love with.

“Do they have the rabbit family?” your brows furrow in question as you mumble to yourself, carefully scanning the shelf in search of them. 

Your determination urges Giyuu to try and help, and while you kneel, he checks the areas on top, pushing boxes around until, hidden behind a trio of tiny mice wrapped in blankets, he finds the ones you're looking for. 

“They have them!” His voice tinges with joy as he pulls the box down for you. 

“No way! Let me see,” 

Passing it to you, he watches your lips part in awe, a light squeal emanating from your throat in celebration. 

 “Eee, this is them! We found them, oh my gosh, they’re so cute! Good job looking up there, babe,”

He smiles as you thank him, your lips quickly pecking his cheek before you pull back to check out some of the other sets. You still have a few on your wishlist, but it appears they aren't in stock yet. So, with your newly acquired rabbit family, you and Giyuu head back to the front of the store, ready to check out. 

“We should come back in a few weeks. Maybe they’ll have the Halloween set by then,” 

“I’ll be sure to check behind the baby mice again,” He quips while you head to the register, a soft chuckle falling past your lips as the young lady working greets you. 

When she finishes bagging everything, Giyuu takes hold of the plastic bag while she hands you your receipt, the two of you thanking her in unison. 

“Would you like to get something to drink while we’re here?” With the scent of coffee still prevalent in the air, Giyuu thinks it would be nice to extend your day out with a treat. 

“Sure, we can get something to eat too. We can try those sandwiches they have,” holding hands yet again, you spend a moment looking over the menu, chatting over your choices before deciding what to order. 

Once served, you settle into the seats of the nearby corner table, where, while sipping on his drink, you urge your boyfriend to open the blind box you got him. When you hand him the mystery toy, he studies the graphics printed on the package before tearing it open. His large hands rip open the opaque plastic bag that lay inside while you watch in anticipation, waiting for the reveal. 

Seconds later, a soft laugh escapes him as he pulls out the figure — a small black cat holding a single shrimp tempura. 

“Aww, Giyuu, it’s so cute! It looks like you! Look at his little blue eyes,” 

You wipe your fingers off any crumbs before reaching over to hold the tiny cat, smiling as you hold it up in comparison. 

“Look, you’re practically twins! Do you like him?”

“I do,” He stares at the figure as you hand it back to him. “I think I’ll put him on my desk at work,” 

Setting the cat down on the table, Giyuu replaces it with his sandwich, taking a large bite and swallowing before he continues, “He can guard the sudoku books,” 

A crumb sticks to his lip as he smiles, his gentle humor and the grain of bread pressed to his skin making you giggle — dates like these are always your favorite.

a/n: Hehehe, another self-indulgent one-shot! I always think about what it's like to go on little shopping trips with Giyuu, so this was really fun to write! Backstory

Growing up in the Queendom of Roses Lottie always loved the parties his parents would throw wanting to continue in their footsteps when he grows up. He would hold his own little tea parties at home and would insist on planning his own birthday parties.

A problem is Lottie had trouble following most rules especially if he thinks they’re dumb finding loopholes to not get in trouble. That combined with his energetic personality people would label him as a troublemaker not taking him seriously for things. Some would even question if he is even right to continue what his family built up leading to Lottie wanting to prove himself.

He grew to become more organized and firm with it comes to events also when able would watch how his mother interacted with clients. His personality never really changed as he doesn’t think he should change that for others thanks to his parents. But others will say that there is definitely a shift to how he acts as if more serious depending on the situation.

A headcanon about that character - Apparently, it's a common headcanon among us that whole thing about Marshall becoming deaf when he grows up, so I'll go with my OTHER headcanon, the cause for his bad genetics would be for being inbred, born at a puppy mill.

An unpopular opinion about that character - I don't want him to be the main pup in a movie just for "he deserves it". Been there, seen how it goes. When a franchise produces something just to cater to fandom wishes/angry demands, the risks of it coming out real badly made are HIGH. I love Marshall and I want him to be the star under a movie spotlight just like most of you do, but I absolutely DO NOT want to demand for it. I do NOT want the next movie to be about him. I do NOT want them to make something just for the sake of making something. I will NOT get mad if the next movie isn't about him. 🍃Colors: Koiji enjoys all colors in generall but he has some favourites. These colors have a deeper meaning for him.

Happy 33rd Birthday, Sonic! (Open RP)

I don’t know what happened, but we’re becoming farm people. I just spent 20 minutes comparing different kids of manure.

Yesterday I saw that my favorite farm stand had opened for the season and I squealed and Justin was like why don’t I build you a fenced in garden and you just grow your own? A bit later I was talking about quail for their tiny adorable speckled eggs and getting a rabbit just to use its droppings in the garden and Justin asked “why are you talking about quail and a rabbit? Our next animals are goats.”

So that’s what we’re doing, living out our farm fantasy hahaha. Justin discovered that goats eat poison oak and that people pay big money to rent them out to eat excess vegetation and Justin is sold. I’m not ready for goats, seems like a big responsibility, but apparently sometime soon. And apparently their droppings are more beneficial than rabbit droppings, but so are chickens if you compost them right.

Why am I this way? What happened to me? Instagram? I had chickens in Texas and I loved my girls, but I wasn’t this level of obsessed with them. But now I see all these different breeds and characteristics and egg colors and I have become a chicken hoarder. I had to stop going to my favorite tractor supply because I became friends with the manager and he kept getting me to take his store’s injured birds home. So far we have rehomed 4 aggressive roosters (but kept our sweetheart silkie roo) and have 18 total. Three starlight eggers, three buff orpingtons, three mystic marans, two Easter eggers, two silkies, two booted bantams, a leghorn, a rhode island red, and a silver-laced sebright. We’ll get medium green eggs, light green eggs, maybe some blue if we’re lucky. And lighter brown, medium brown, and dark dark brown from the marans. And smaller cream colored ones from the bantam ladies. And the leghorn will lay the standard white you’re used to from the store, fun fact I hatched fertilized eggs from the store once and leghorns are what hatched!

I saw some reel that said that chickens are the gateway farm animal and ding ding ding. Once you have chickens you start looking up guard animals and then you want a goose. Then you go to a feed store and see that they have turkens (naked neck chickens that are social/sweet and are so ugly they’re cute), turkeys, ducks, and quails. I mean ducks are stinky and messy but I’ll take the rest please, thank you.

My grandma was an animal hoarder, is this genetic? She had an actual aviary and llamas and cats. We had animals growing up but I remember begging forever for a Guinea pig, it’s not like we had a farm. But at one point I was breeding Guinea pigs and fish. And incubating chicken eggs. So maybe it is in my genetics. A 10 year old asking for fish breeding supplies is not on my radar, what kid does that? Maybe this side of me has lied dormant under some depression fog. I don’t know.

Justin being on board is dangerous though. He didn’t even say anything when he came home from his work trip to 6 new chickens living in his office. He wasn’t as pleased about my “pointless” fish though, but I am loving my little aquarium. It’s next to my aerogarden and it’s such a happy little corner.

Anyway.

We need to push back the retaining wall in the backyard. Well *need* might be a little strong. But the wood panels are rotted out and need to be replaced. Right now it’s 2.5 high and the field of poison oak beyond is starting to travel down and I am so severely allergic my arms are constantly covered is weeping wounds. We’re going to push it back til it’s at 4 ft and then build the chicken run, originally it was supposed to be 10 by 8, but now I’m thinking it needs to be 12 by 8 minimum.

We’ve been chipping away at excavating ourselves but with between the kids, the boulders, and my rash reaction it’s just not worth it, we need someone with a machine so we hired someone to come excavate it next week. With the space, our backyard will eventually be dining area w pergola, chicken run/coop, fenced in garden area, swing set and jungle gym for the kids, goat shed/area, then Justin’s big shed that he hopes to break ground on this summer. When we’re done with that we’re going to build steps up to access our side yard, clear and level the clearing, and then put pavers or bricks down for a fire pit area.

I am absolutely obsessed with our property. I want to utilize as much of it as we can, and I never want to take for granted that we are lucky to have land and live somewhere breathtakingly beautiful. Life isn’t perfect by any means, but I still feel like I’m living the dream.

Rabbit brings her furry buddy to hang out with the Young Girl. 053 makes a new feline friend, and gets her own fluffy pal.

It's Friday afternoon, and I'm on my way to see 053. I've got Liam, my cat with me in a pet carrier. I'm halfway there when I run into a familiar face. I missed Watch, he's a funny guy, but can still get things done.

"Hey, Rabbit... what's with the pet bag?"

"Taking Liam for a visit. Thought 053 might like to meet my fluffy little nutter. She'll love him, how could she not? He's a sweet goofball."

"Kind of like you, huh? Evelyn is gonna be thrilled. Oh, speaking of, I have to go tend to 035 being his typical ceramic drama queen self, it's not likely I'll be able to see her. Would you kindly give her this? It's a plush cat toy. Which kinda looks like Liam now that I've gotten a look at him. He is a handsome boy, I'll admit." He hands me a medium sized box, wrapped in pink paper, topped with a purple bow.

"You know, you don't need to pull the Bioshock trick on me when it comes to Young Evelyn, I'm happy to visit her. And I'll let her know. Hey, who knows? Maybe you're lucky and 035 might just need a nap or something."

"Unlikely, but weirder things have happened. Thanks, Rabbit. Tell Evie I'll make it up to her with an ice cream party tomorrow. I'll even invite 682, heard he's fond of Rocky road."

"Gotta admit, discount Godzilla knows good ice cream. And Evie will love you for it."

"Dunno, Liam's pretty cute, keep bringing him for visits you may become her favorite Auntie, even take my place as her favorite staffer."

"The biggest, Watch. I love Evie like she's my own niece. Yes, I know technically I'm an only child, but she's my niece nonetheless." We depart, and I head off to see Evie. I walk into her room, and nearly drop Liam when 053 hugged the stuffing out of me.

"Auntie Rabbit! I missed you." More hugs.

"Hiya Evie! I brought you a new friend to hang out with. Meet my buddy Liam. He's a bit daft, but adorable." I open the carrier, and take out my fluffy little knock-off Turkish Van. Evie squeals.

"He's so fluffy! Is he your cat?"

"Yeah, met my little buddy not long after I transferred here. I found him in one of the site dumpsters, stealing a slice of pizza. Took the little guy in, gave him a bath, and he's been with me since. He likes having his chin rubbed like that, keep going and he'll purr like a jet engine."

"He keeps bumping his head into my hand."

"Yeah, that's him hugging you." I take out the box. "Almost forgot, Watch sent this up with me. He's sorry he can't drop in, he's a bit overloaded with work. It's all boring grown-up stuff, so it's going to be a while. He's got a nice surprise for you tomorrow, though." I hand Evie the box, watching as Liam swats the bow. She opens the gift, and giggles.

"He got me my own Liam! I love him. He really does look like your kitty. He even has the black tail, just like the real Liam."

"Only this Liam won't steal your cheese."

"He steals cheese?"

"Don't most people? He thinks he's a person. And yes, cheese, the odd chip, blue freeze bars but only the blue ones, chicken, he's a food thief. He's not all fluff in the middle."

Evie plays with both Liams, the live cat curling up in her lap. After a few minutes, my Liam starts snoring. He's happy, Evie is happy... mission accomplished.

Oh, don't worry, I know sticking to a diet is HARD. My mother has to stick to some diet, but cannot do it and the same goes for my brother. Food is just too good and relaxing too relaxing, I perfectly know.

In fact, what pushed me wasn't "I want to be slim and cool", it was "I don't want to suffer from winter cough anymore". My body basically said: "Either you do something, or I will keep tormenting you forever". I was forced to do something by my own self.

So, if I can give tips and advice that may help, I am more than happy to oblige!

Cooking: is actually a lot easier than it seems! Especially for basic meals, all you have to do is cut vegetables, cut meat or fish, put everything in a pan with olive oil (it's better than butter) salt and water and voila, the stove will do the rest.

Maybe the most difficult task is cleaning raw fish, but once you try, it's easier too: all you have to do is:

clean the scales

cut the belly and take out the organs (they're all conveniently stored in the front, so once they're out you're done)

cut the head, tails and fins (unless you like them? I don't, so I simply cut them out with a knife)

Or you can just buy raw fish/meat already cleaned and done and use them :P

Meals prep: I learned this from my father, but always cook stuff with water. I used to put olive oil only and that was basically like frying - which is the least healthy way to cook. Now I add some water, then let it evaporate while cooking, so in the end there is just a little bit of it in the casserole.

Also, basically zero sauces aside from olive oil, a little bit of salt and vinegar for salads. Only now I'm slowly adding juniper and turmeric but only to season the meat a little. The rest of the time I use oil, salt and I may add one clove of garlic (that I take out before eating) or a little bit of onion just to give a bit more seasoning.

Meals suggestions: I can gladly share some because I searched for ideas, especially at the start, and couldn't find a lot. So if I can save you the trouble of a long research, I am happy to oblige :D

For example, aside from the couscous+vegetable mix, I also planned for this month:

basmati rice with pumpkin soup (I cut the pumpkin, boil it, blend it, let some water evaporate, cook rice on the side, then add it)

basmati rice + spinach (they cook on two separate pans, then I add them together)

gluten-free pasta + chards (just like rice and spinach)

stuffed peppers (grind some zucchini, carrots and potatoes, then add olive oil, mix and put inside the peppers, then in the oven with some water)

potatoes and pumpkin (cut into big pieces and cooked in the oven)

peas and bacon or tuna

spelt soup with zucchini or carrots

chicken breast / rabbit with broccoli, cauliflower and Brussel sprouts (cook separately, then put together)

green beans with potatoes (or any other kind of vegetable)

green beans with corn and olives (cold version for summer)

mackerel with potatoes and zucchini in the oven

cream of pumpkin and carrots (I boil them, blend them, then eat with rusks)

spinach or chard by itself

While for breakfast I planned some meals like:

overnight porridge (I put in a cup oats, greek yogurt, one kiwi, almonds or nuts and honey)

omelet with eggs and vegetables (I can add prosciutto too, to add more proteins)

aged cheese + nuts + honey

rusks and strawberry jam (I use one with no sugar added and no seeds)

cookies with no milk or eggs (they're from a specific brand, so I don't know how they are made. However, I tried to eat them once in a while because they have a lot of carbs - and I'm trying to cut them a bit)

oats + almond milk + fruits

melon and prosciutto or bresaola

fresh fruits and honey

And all of them have one cup of herbal tea included.

Also, if I crave something sweet, I usually go for honey. I am lucky enough to get it from a beekeeper (my cousin), so I am sure it's good. Also, it's natural, so it's way better than any sugary premade/packaged product.

While for exercising, all I can suggest you is:

to arrange a specific room/place/spot specifically for exercising. Put your clothes, mat and everything else already there, so you won't waste time searching for them everywhere.

Possibly, put a mirror too, so you can check if you're doing your exercises well.

Put on nice clothes. They will make you feel better and happier, so you will feel more prone to exercise, just to wear your cute outfit.

There are a ton of apps, so you can rely on them. I used them from the start, because 1) I hate gyms, 2) I hate people around and 3) I'm too lazy to get into the car, go to the gym, change my clothes and follow some training... uuurgh, no thanks. I want something quicker and doing at home it's much better: I decide what to do, do my exercises, take a quick shower and cook my dinner. Best solution for me.

If you get bored easily (like me), apps are great, because you always switch exercises. Don't do the same thing over and over, it will get boring faster. If there's a specific training you like sure, go for it. But if you get bored, you can change anytime.

A pain that never leaves

But it would've been painful - and for what? Just a couple more months? So, in the end, they decided to let him go.

However, let me point out: their cat was very old. He was 20, so an old boy. And his sickness was something bladder-related, so it was actually very painful for him.

Now I don't know how old your baby was and what kind of disease it was. But if it let him live a bit longer, spend time with his other friend and with you, his beloved owner... I don't think it was a bad decision to keep him alive a bit longer. Also because the other choice is very, very painful.

My neighbors made the other choice and the husband wasn't even able to stay in the same room, when his cat died. He waited outside, crying. His wife stayed with their cat until the end, but seeing her beloved pet close his eyes in front of her... it was heavy. She still remembers it and talks about it with heaviness in her voice.

So... well, maybe it won't be a great consolation, but it would've been hard both ways. Either looking at him go or finding him already dead. It's awful in both cases. It always is.

And you deserve all the time in the world to process this and recover: spend time with your loved one, with your other beloved cat who still needs you, get some time outside, meet your friends. Losses are always hard - and if someone tells you "It's just a cat get over it", tell them from me to jump in a lake.

Also, having both "sides" of what could happen, makes me think about what I will do when my cats will get too old and sick. How will it be? I know it will be painful and I will need a lot of time to recover because they're my first pets too (or, well, my first cats). But what will happen? What will I do? Still don't know. I only know that day will come and I try to cherish our time together as much as possible - and to give them the best possible life. They're our babies and they rely on us: giving them all the love is the bare minimum.

Last week my mother had knee surgery. She had to do it something like 5 years ago, but hey, better late than never.

The problem wasn't the surgery per se: that went well and she's currently in a clinic for a rehabilitation period, so she can be followed by professionals.

The real problem arose right after the surgery: for the first three days, she was supposed to recover, sleep and start working out asap. But she couldn't do shit, because her roommate was an older lady, who:

Now she's still suffering from the pain, but at least she can get some sleep. And the sleep did wonders already: she can bend her knee some more, stand up longer, and do more exercises at the gym. So the moral of the story is that if sleep is important for a healthy person, it becomes essential after such an invasive surgery - and even more if you're stuck in a bed because you can't go anywhere else.

There is never enough time

This year I finally entered the list of teachers in my area. Thanks to my degree (and the course I followed), I have been able to apply for two positions: German teacher and/or special educator. However, I am also working on getting enough credits to apply for English soon because... well, it's the language I use daily. Even now.

English aside, I know there are a ton of people on that list, so I didn't expect to get a call very soon. And yet, I got one last week and it was for German! Hence why, now (and for a month) I will replace a German teacher in two different schools.

I made something like 6 lessons for now and immediately learned a lot of things, like:

There is never enough time. I barely entered the school and immediately found out there are councils to attend and tests to do and students need grades and I should plan them too - but I should prepare the lessons as well and 24 hours are not enough for all this shit.

My need to get everything under control is becoming even more compulsive than usual: every free moment is made of planning, planning and more planning. And yes, that's the reason why I disappeared from Tumblr and from life in general. Only now I am slowly trying to get some of my life back, because after that huge peak of stress, I really need to relax a bit and do something for me and me only - like writing.

Being healthy can be fun

I've always had symptoms of gastrointestinal reflux, like stomach pains, slow digestion, late meals and being a fast eater in general. And, of course, a goddamn cough that keeps tormenting me for the entire winter, only to magically disappear as soon as spring comes.

Hence why last year I finally went to a gastroenterologist. He too thought I had all the symptoms, but I needed some medical checks to be sure.

Also, since I was bloated and overweight, he told me to follow the typical diet of someone with reflux. Which means:

No milk and dairy products (except very aged cheese), no red meat (i.e. beef, pig), no seafood, no bread, no pasta, no cookies/sweets, no legumes, no fruit (only apples, bananas and kiwis allowed), no drinks except for water, no fried stuff and no spicy/too seasoned stuff

Yes to white meat (poultry, rabbit), fish, vegetables, gluten-free pasta, rusks, eggs

That meant changing A LOT of things. Before that diet, I was eating healthy stuff overall, but I was also eating milk, dairy products, bread, pizza once a week, legumes and a ton of fruits with seeds. Heck, my breakfast was cookies and milk only, every day. Two of the things I couldn't eat anymore.

But hey, the doctor said it, so I followed his advice: I came back home, ate the last piece of my leftover pizza for dinner and gave all the stuff I couldn't eat to my mother. Then I went shopping the day after and got all the "allowed" foods.

I have been following this diet for one year and a half by now. And if the first day I was asking myself "will it work" and "what the heck can I eat", now this is how I live. And a lot of things changed.

First, my breakfast was boring and repetitive. Now I have a ton of options: any kind of vegetable milk, from oat to almond. But also soy yogurt, hummus, rusks, overnight porridge, fresh fruit, almonds and walnuts with honey, aged cheese, prosciutto, bresaola or eggs with vegetables. And always a cup of herbal tea.

Herbal teas are a blessing: almost no calories, but fill up nicely. And I can make them with stuff that grows in my garden, like laurel or mint leaves. Even apple peels are great!

I didn't always eat vegetables before. Now vegetables are on my table 24/7: as a salad, with couscous, with rice, with gluten-free pasta, in a soup, with eggs, together or by themselves.

Vegetables fill you up WAY more than junk foods, for less calories and for a longer time. That means I always eat a full plate of vegetables (sometimes even two plates) and be full for hours, while still losing weight.

Before, I ate too much processed food. It looked healthy (like premade rice, fishsticks, frozen minestrone and so on), but it was not. It never is. That's what made me gain so much weight and I realize it now.

I rediscovered the pleasure of cooking my own meals. Now I cook once a day (for dinner only) and double the amount, so I have the next day's lunch ready. And still, it doesn't take a lot of time: the stove or the oven does most of the job, all I do is cut stuff with a mandoline slicer and put it on a pot/on a pyrex. Also, it's cheaper than premade foods: if I buy the raw ingredients, I spend less money and can make more meals.

Before, my meals were too complicated and I used too many ingredients. Now my meals are much simpler - and that's not just great for my digestive system, but for me too, because I can enjoy the single ingredients more. Also, it takes less time to cook.

In conclusion: what I feared would've been an oppressive regime with limited choices was instead a way for me to discover foods I would've never eaten otherwise. Brussel sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, rice cakes, oatmeal, hummus and Greek yogurt: those are all part of my life now and oh boy, how delicious they are.

In addition to the new diet, I also added a more serious exercise regimen. I am too lazy to go to a gym and I hate having people around, so I brought a yoga mat, put the gym clothes in the same spot and set on a daily alarm. Also, searched for different apps to guide me throughout the exercises and make a training session in my place.

I started with 20-min yoga sessions almost every day. Then added more beginner's training. Then tried tabata, moved to HIIT, then pilates. I just kept raising the bar and made my sessions last longer, until it became a routine. And now my routine includes:

20 min HIIT training (I switch focus between cardio, abs and core, lower and upper body)

20 min pilates

20 min yoga

I follow it 3 to 5 times a week, but I also walk more, use the bicycle and take the stairs. This alone would be pointless, if I am not as active as possible the rest of the day.

The result? I am 153 cm (5ft) tall and before I started this new regime, I weighed 64 kg (141 lb). Now I weigh 46kg (101 lb). I lost 18 kg in total and it has been a constant, slow change. At first 2 kilos every month, then one, sometimes not even one.

And during all this time, I never had huge expectations. I didn't even step on the scale for a long time. I just kept following the diet and doing sport and enjoying it. My only goal was to not get the winter cough.

I didn't even notice real changes, until after a while. They came all together and one day, all my pants were too loose and clothes that were too tight before now fit me perfectly.

And now I still keep that chill attitude: I plan my meals at the beginning of every month, so I can be sure of what to eat every day (also, it makes me happy to know what tasty meal will wait for me). I keep doing my exercises, because they help me relax (especially in these last stressful days).

And yes, once in a while, I get a treat not included in my diet. I mean, a diet is supposed to be what you habitually eat, not a temporary thing: it's only fair there may be things you're not supposed to eat too - like sweet treats, seafood, some dairy stuff or a pizza. What matters is that I can control myself, so I know that I get this treat now, but the rest of the time I will stick to my diet.

And, honestly, most of the time I don't even crave these things. I can eat just some and be okay. I am far from starving, after all, especially if I get some nice food, like today's meal: basmati rice with peas, Brussels sprouts, zucchini and pepperoni for a total of 500 grams aka 2 full plates. As I said, starving is out of question :P

So the moral of the story is:

If you're trying to lose weight and you're doing everything right but still don't lose it, seek medical help. I had no idea what I was doing wrong, until I checked with an expert.

If you get a diet, stick with it religiously, especially at the beginning. Ran from all temptations, because they can be very strong - especially at the beginning. Then you can come back and face them, when you will be in control.

Do some sport, especially yoga. It doesn't just help you lose weight, but clears your mind and makes you feel better. And don't push yourself too much: you're supposed to do it more times a week, so just start slowly and build resistance. It's better to do a little every day, than give your full self one day and recover the next 2 weeks because you're too sore. Once you will get enough strength, you will be the first to realize you want to do more.

Have fun and chill. Results won't come the day after, just do your things, eat good food and do some good exercise. And enjoy life in general: it would be all pointless, otherwise.
