he will literally bury himself in reading or writing something and just ignore the fact that he’s sniffing and coughing half the day (he tries and manages to be very quiet)

until you catch him sneezing like 3 times in a row and you literally have to drag him to bed

however, he does know better than to go and argue with you, especially when his voice is hoarse

he will just chuckle to himself at your stubbornness, but he’ll be very grateful that you’re going to look after him

for every single thing you bring him and set it on the bedside table, he will thank you a million times and he’ll literally blush

luckily for him, the garden can keep him occupied for quite a while, and therefore he can stay away from your watchful eyes

as you go in for a hug, you notice straight away that he’s  basically burning up, so you just lead him to bed and tuck him in

you go off to make him some tea or soup, and he literally comes after you in order to help

and then you have to be lovingly strict and order him to stay in bed and rest

he will very very shyly ask you whether he can be the little spoon when you cuddle before sleep

as soon as he’s feeling better, he will bake your favorite pastry or get you the most beautiful flowers as a sign of appreciation for your care

not a big fan of tea or elvish medical concoctions, so he’ll try to chat you up and keep talking until you forget you brought him tea/medication

and then he’ll act innocent and pouty and like he’d neverrr do anything like that

he wants to cuddle all the time and almost whines when he has to let you go even for a few minutes

it’s not that he wants to annoy you on purpose (most of the time), it’s just that he feels so much better when you’re nearby

even when he’s feeling better, he’ll pretend he’s still not okay just to get an extra cuddle session

he’s initially a bit difficult to pin down, but once he’s warm and cozy in bed, he’s completely at your mercy

much like Merry, not a fan of medication, but if you say that something is good for him and necessary, then something is good and necessary!

he gets bored and antsy pretty quickly and then he wishes he had been better at hiding that he was sick

at one point he sneaks out to go outside a bit, but soon he will feel extremely guilty when you find him and make him go back inside

he’ll apologize a bunch of times, and he’ll know the apology is accepted when you just hand him a bowl of his favorite soup

afterwards you tell him an entertaining story or two until he starts to get sleepy

he wants to be the little spoon and also hold hands

Because of the timings of my relationships, I don't think I ever had a girlfriend on Valentine's Day. So safe to say Kimmer's been and is my only Valentine.

I no longer remember what my pre-Kimmer self thought about that state of affairs but, in retrospect, I think it's sweet how that part of my life turned out. It wasn't intentional... but it was sweet anyway.

When we started on the path we're still traveling, we were young and what was ahead of us was almost completely Unknown. We chose to contend with that Unknown together anyway. 

It's pretty breathtaking, the Unknown, by the way. It's careers and family, condos and apartments and houses, cars that work and cars that don’t, friendships and education, faith and truth, expectations and disappointments, challenges and victories, and then straight up black eyes and losses. 

And that's just off the top of my head.

It's probably a good thing they don't tell you specifically what's gonna happen in the future once you're married otherwise there would be actual pauses before anyone ever said "I do".

Spoiler Alert: nearly everything that challenged us as a married couple came from outside our marriage. Not from inside our bubble but outside. So our expectations aside, our marriage counseling aside, and the wisdom of our parents and our twenty-something friends aside...

A lot of what transpired in the years and decades afterward really did take us by surprise. Stuff pounced. You know?

And if there was ever proof that the specific nature of my Valentine is the most profound, the most important, the most essential fact of my life...

That's it right there.

Yesterday, I had a little fun with the movie line "love is an ability". Because the truth of the matter is that you and your valentine will have to tackle, figure out, solve, and otherwise deal with all manner of sudden turbulence that rushes at you just as soon as the two of you become one. And it’s not usually good. Nor is it usually easy. And yes.

Sometimes it’s traumatizing.

And are you, is she, the kind of person who can nourish, grow, and sustain a relationship, nourish, grow, and sustain the love that brought you together even so? Or does your relationship devolve into an endless daily ritual of Whack-A-Mole.

I don't believe anyone in just any combination can do a lifetime together, you see. And neither do you. Not really. There's evidence aplenty to show us not everyone can do this.

So yes. Our wedding anniversaries, our dating anniversaries, even our yearly celebrations of Valentine's Day are very much occasions of happiness and thankfulness mixed with a touch of what it must feel like in that moment people realize they just won the lotto.

We are lucky. That much is obvious and has been obvious for a very long time.

We are happy. Not every moment of every day. Not inappropriately given various circumstances. But our lives bend toward happiness and laughter. Deep friendship and a spirit of exploration.

The traumas in our life don't stop those things. In fact, those things are what help us weather those traumas. They allow us meet severe challenges. They feed a thread running through our lives, running through our marriage, that is, on balance, variations on patience and kindness and hope and trust and perseverance.

They allow for the life we lead and have every intention to keep leading.

So Valentine’s Day.

It’s this thing that starts with paper hearts and candies... turns into a yearly exercise in do I have one or don’t I have one... and then transforms into this amazing experience of we’ve come a long way, baby.

💑 What are my muse’s requirements for a potential partner?

Bedelia needs someone she can trusts and who can accept her as she is. Those are her two main requirements and they’re not small. It takes a lot for her to trust someone, especially in a romantic relationship, but on top of that, it’s awfully easy to break it and then it’s no easy task to gain it back again. On top of that, she also needs to feel like her partner accepts her as she is, meaning that she doesn’t have to hide her flaws nor try to pretend she’s perfect all the time. She has that constant need to appear perfect as she believes that’s how she needs to be to be worthy of love. In conclusion, it’s a lot easier to be in her bed than it is for to even consider someone as a potential partner. Trust is definitely a big thing and it takes time and patience for her to open up, but once she loves someone, she’s ready to die for them.

Short answer: no. Long answer: because of her choice to stay single and have flings or one-night stands as to protect herself and avoid getting hurt by having feelings for someone, that day reminds her of how lonely she actually is. It’s even worse if she thinks about how it’s a day to celebrate love in general because she barely has any friends and she isn’t close to her family. Bedelia would rather not see all the happiness and love that day even if she knows that she’s in that situation because of her decisions. It might change in a relationship, but otherwise she simply lies and says that she thinks it has become too commercialised. 

💘 What are the ways my muse says ‘I love you’ without actually saying it? 

She will look for physical touch. It can be subtle, like her brushing her partner’s hand with her, or very obvious, like her snuggling up against them when they’re sitting on the couch or in bed. She doesn’t particularly enjoy being touched by strangers and during one-night stands she avoids any touch that could be affectionate, so her willingly looking for it says a lot. Other than that, her getting something because it made her thing of the other person. Gifts are not her love language, but she’ll definitely keep an eye out for a present and she enjoys gifting flowers (no matter the gender of her partner).

contrary to popular belief, ichigo... doesn't really have problems with his emotions. despite his occasional bouts of anger, he's fairly competent in handling his emotions. the only ones he might have issues with are things like love and affection, but that’s only because he hasn’t ever experienced those — and even then, those are emotions he’s just awkward at dealing with. he’s not repressed or anything.

may 3rd! he’s a taurus :)

ichigo doesn’t really care about his birthday, though. he’s not against having a party (if someone else throws him one — he has no desire to set one up himself), and it’s not like he hates the day or anything, but he just... doesn’t care. hell, half the time he forgets that it’s his birthday until someone mentions it. he’s always been like that, ever since he was little.

if you throw him a party or even just tell him happy birthday, he’ll be happy, though. it means a lot that you’d remember something about him that he perceives insignificant.

🍧 SHAVED ICE - do they still have any objects from their childhood? what significance does it have to them? what would their reaction be if they lost it?

most of his childhood items are still in his mom’s house with the exception of one — a blanket that he’s had since he can remember. it’s nothing really all that special — just some well-used, fluffy red one — but it’s one of his biggest comfort items.

if he lost it, i think he’d probably get really anxious, but the kind where you just feel this deep discomfort in the pit of your stomach. he’d also have a hard time sleeping since that’s the main blanket he sleeps with.

🌹 ROSE - do they like valentine’s day? have they been confessed to before? have they confessed to anyone before?

valentine’s day is another day ichigo is extremely neutral toward. he doesn’t have any inherent issue with the holiday, he just... doesn’t care (again, lol). if he were in a relationship with someone who did care about it, he’d do whatever he could to make the day special, but from a personal viewpoint, it’s just another day. he does like all the candy, though.

he’s never confessed to anyone at all, much less on valentine’s day. similarly, no one has ever confessed to him, much less on valentine’s day. please be his first.

related side detail: every year on valentine’s day, his mom still sends him candy and a card. and every year, he buys her one of those obscenely huge boxes of chocolate.

🙈 SEE-NO-EVIL - what’s a side of your oc that they don't want to show other people?

there’s a small part of him that still holds scars from the past — from when he was younger and was getting into fights more often than not. he’s not a particularly insecure person, but every now and then, he’ll end up so far in his own head that he becomes one. was there something wrong with him? is that why no one ever liked him? was there still something wrong with him? is that why his own father never wanted him? did his existence ruin his mother’s life? would it have been better if he had never been born? would it even matter if he hadn’t been?

he doesn’t want anyone to see him like that.

📣 MEGAPHONE - how loud are they? what do they speak like? got a voice claim?

ichi’s voice is naturally pretty deep, but he’s not loud. he doesn’t like raising his voice, honestly — takes too much energy out of him. his normal speaking voice is fairly monotone and usually pretty tired sounding, and i imagine that he has a little bit of a dialect that comes out every now and then. (i also imagine that he lowkey talks like a delinquent anime boy. does the “haaah?” a lot.)

i don’t have a specific voice claim at the moment, but i do kind of imagine him sounding like draken in the tokrev sub. except maybe a little deeper. and less expressive lmao.

🎁 PRESENT - what types of presents would they be most happy to receive? are they good at gift giving?

out of everything, i think ichigo would be most happy getting gifts he could use in some way — stuff like food or clothes or other things that serve some function or purpose. he doesn’t mind getting other things, but he’s never sure how to express his gratitude about them — after all, it’s easy to show you liked something someone cooked for you by eating it, but what is he supposed to really do with something like a poster? hang it up and just... leave it?

as for the reverse, i like to think that he’s actually surprisingly good at giving gifts, given that he actually cares about and likes the person he’s buying a gift for. he remembers and notices little things easily, so it’s not very hard for him to get something someone wants. you mention some game you want in passing? check the price tag on a shirt in the store before moving on? you’ll end up with both of them on your next birthday.

most people assume he’s scary, mean, and angry all the time. the “scary” part is right, but the other two— not so much. they also tend to assume that he’s always looking for some kind of fight, when that’s also rarely the case.

any type of intimate and romantic affection.

he’s not used to it in any capacity, so even the smallest bit of affection will make his heart start beating embarrassingly fast. it won’t show on his face, though... unless you keep doing it. give him one too many kisses and you’ll have him blushing bright red.

💘 HEART W/ ARROW - what traits do they look for in a relationship? do they believe in love at first sight?

the biggest one would be someone he can be comfortable and chill with. despite how he may come off, ichigo doesn’t like a lot of stress or drama — he gets enough of that with his band as it is. he’d like someone he could just lay down with for hours and talk about whatever comes to mind. also someone who could make him feel safe enough to be vulnerable and soft — he’s... never really had someone like that. not romantically, at least.

he has somewhat mixed feelings on love at first sight. he doesn’t think it exists for him, but he doesn’t doubt that it’s happened for other people. i mean, me and kazuki are right there lmao

💗 GROWING HEART - if they have a crush, is it noticeable? what changes when they're in love?

yes and no.

at first, it’s not noticeable at all — ichigo isn’t the type to get (outwardly) flustered or embarrassed by being around someone he’s into, nor is he the type to act all that different. the most he might do is act a little nicer toward them, but even that is fairly subtle — offering help with little things; grabbing them things without them asking; going out of his way to make sure he doesn’t accidentally scare them or think he’s mad at them.

the most noticeable change, especially when he’s fully in love with someone, is that he’ll willingly spend time with them. letting people into his space isn’t something he generally likes to do, but if it’s with someone he loves, he doesn’t mind.

wanting to be alone with them is the main way he can tell that someone means a lot to him.

quality time and acts of service. the main way ichigo shows he loves someone is by being around them, whether actively talking or doing something or just existing next to them. he also shows he loves someone by doing things for them — from little things like getting something for them so they don’t have to get up to bigger things like making food for them.

💙 BLUE HEART - do they miss their s/o easily? how do they act when their s/o isn't around?

he doesn’t miss them consciously, but he does miss them. he’s used to being alone, and generally still prefers to be alone regardless of if he’s in a relationship or not, so he doesn’t really act any differently despite them often coming into the back of his mind; wondering what they’re up to and if they’re okay; wishing he could see them soon — that kind of thing.

that said, depending on how long it’s been since he’s last seen them, it would start to bother him — he’d feel off and like something is missing, but he can’t exactly place what the issue is. it wouldn’t really hit him just how much he missed them until he was back in their arms.

💚 GREEN HEART - what things make your oc feel comforted? hugs, kisses, food?

despite not being a very touchy person, being held is one of the main things that comforts him when he’s not feeling well. let him sleep on you, run your fingers through his hair, kiss his forehead — he’ll start feeling better in no time.

24. what makes you blush?

Probably cute gestures. Like (for anyone unaware) my favourite flowers are sunflowers and I really love old books (those two things are the only reason I bought a bike with a basket, so that during the summer after helping out at the flower shop, I can bring home a bunch of sunflowers and go to the library on my way back to get me some books) so if anyone gifts me those or goes on a bike ride with me to go pick them up together I will be beet red. (Yes, I am convinced I will leave my life like a book character, what are you going to do about it??)

Also kisses on the forehead or nose. And hugs. Compliments.

26. do you believe in soulmates?

I wish I did, but my heart has been broken way too many times for me to believe in them, so to answer your question, hell no.

35. would you prefer to propose or be proposed to? what’s your dream proposal?

I would assume I will never be proposed to, neither will I propose to someone. Why? As I've mentioned already, I've signed up for life t be a great author, who makes others happy, not a happy person.

But if I had to imagine, I'd say it doesn't really matter, though I bet, if someone were to propose it would be me. (Since apparently, I invest my all into relationships I get into, which I thought everyone did, but I guess not. Go figure.)

My dream proposal (please my dear future (very unfortunate) fiance read) would be probably somewhere in a nice old library or perhaps a nice small park, or even somewhere at home and it would be something spontaneous. Like, if I was being proposed to, I wouldn't like the huge celebration, I just want something like, hey, the weather outside is amazing, let's get married. Now, that would be a guaranteed yes.
