Happy Terril:

He locked one 10 year old son (Joshua) up in cryogenic suspension in a missile silo because he couldn’t deal with him. He then had his next son (Ray) raised completely in the dark by his brother and lied that if Ray went outside he’d die. And that’s just their origin stories.

A bitch-ass man who declined to raise his son for eighteen years, lied to him about sunlight killing him and to everyone else about his son having died in childbirth, and then had the temerity to complain about how the kid he did absolutely nothing to parent turned out. Somehow a worse father figure than Vandal Savage, a man who grows his descendants in vats so they can give him replacement body parts.

Ebenezer Batson:

He is Billy's uncle and former legal guardian, who stole the family's money and then abandoned Billy to live on the streets. He later tries to steal more from Billy, by taking the money he earned from being a radio jockey.

He is tiny and sweet and harmless. He goes by the code name Spitfire and he used to fight supervillains with his dad back in the early 1950s.

He was born in the mid-late 1940s. He was cryogenically frozen by his own father for 40 years.

He’s just a lil hungry kid.

Who has fine enough control over his light ray powers to pop popcorn with it.

Oh and also blow you to kingdom come if you scare him. He doesn’t like monsters.

i just want to say i love your little drawings so much they're adorable and so full of life and everything feels exciting in them and i love how you draw and make really fun stuff for many of the minor characters, you're doing such a good job with them and it gives me so much joyy

Also its fun to get into and draw minor characters because their reading lists are super short lol! But I like to give a little love to characters that most people might not know about, in fact here's some random drawings that I had in the back-burner for the past year! Never could find a chance to just post them:

Here's a cute drawing of Cyclone, Maxine Hunkle! Wanted to give her a cute costume makeover. Kinda has a magical girl look to it huh? Took a bit of inspiration from Ojamajo Doremi, but also she's meant to resemble Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz! Both the princess and the witch. I have a bit of idea of what I'm going do with her, but that's for later.

Got a drawing of Gan, Jason's friend from the Knight White books. Not sure if she exist in my Training Wheels au, but I like her a lot. Her rapport with Jason was fun to read.

Here it looks like the Outlaws are trying to recruit new members, from the Relative Heroes group, Damara Sinclaire (Allure) and Tyson Gilford (Blindside). They're not likely to join, preferring to stick with their own group. Just as well since Damara's powers might make things a rather chaotic, she doesn't need that drama in her life lol. Tho I like the thought of Tyson helping out now and then, his invisibility would be pretty useful.

Here's some random assortment of heroes, Ray Terrill the...Ray. Amethyst, tho top pic is uncolored (im lazy) but theres a Sailor Amethyst to make up for that.

There's the first Green Lantern (Alan Scott) with his kids,Jade (Jennifer Lynn Hayden) and Obsidian (Todd James Rice). Wonder why their babies here, de-aging mishap?

Jason and Toni gossip about their fellow teammates, and down below Jason decides to annoy a young Kyle Rayner. A universal constant!

For a really minor character, here's Jay, Eddie and Rose meeting up with a very strange new friend!

And lastly here are the Metal Men, or should I say the mini-Metal Men. Read some comics about them, including a bit of silver age as well (they get destroyed pretty often, kinda funny ngl). I thought about what kinda sidekicks they could have, but I didn't want to look up metals or learn about metallurgy or chemistry or whatever. So I just made them smaller, its just temporary though, aren't they cute? Look at poor Copper, she just wants to join in!

Anyways, hope that wasn't too much, tagging all of this is gonna suck.

Sorry I haven't been posting, due to Tumblr being a pile of shit and trying give our stuff to ai websites. So I thought I would download nightshade and glaze, but that didn't work out at all (I got a new laptop but it still wont render for me at all). So I'm just gonna hope my opt-out in the settings will be enough for now. Sigh!

The Ray 1994 #28, in which an explanation for Joshua Terrill's background is given (with debatable believability), really needs to be read in conjunction with #5, which reads like a playing-out of Joshua's story again, with Ray in his brother's place.

In #4, Ray has averted a crisis with the dangerous Light Entity, sending it back out into space and absorbing all its energy. He's the only one who can communicate with it, and his father has urged him to do what he was born to do and save the world. So Ray has, and he returns to Earth ready for a hero's welcome--and rather intoxicated, an unexpected effect of absorbing all that energy.

His father is not pleased. In some unspecified way, Ray has failed to live up to expectations. And in #5, Happy lashes out at his son, verbally and physically, claiming that Ray is out of control and must be "taken down a peg." He frames this in a "this hurts me more than it hurts you" way.

After dragging Ray all over the world trying to give him object lessons in Responsibility, Happy whips out this monstrosity of a gun and points it at his son:

Ray assumes his father is about to kill him and pleads for his life. To no avail.

He doesn't die, of course--the purpose of the gun is to take away his powers.

Ray is actually relieved and spends a carefree afternoon reveling in finally being a normal person--until an incident at work leads him to realize that some things about his encounter with his father don't add up.

Yeah, where would he get such technology? Remember that.

The loss of Ray's powers turns out to be a ruse, and he tracks down his father and yells at him--only to receive Happy's approval for passing "yet another test."

Does any of this seem familiar?

Son is urged by his father to engage in overwhelming heroism, which affects his behavior/mental state.

Father perceives son as out of control and a disappointment for failing to live up to expectations.

Father proceeds to use elaborate technology to neutralize son, framing it as his having no other choice but to do so.

It's basically what happened with Joshua, who apparently failed at age eight to pass the tests that Ray manages to.

It raises some questions, too. If Happy has the ability to take away his son's powers, even temporarily (as he does twice in his issue), why did he not at least attempt to do this when Joshua's powers got dangerously out of control?

And as Ray points out, it doesn't seem plausible for a man whose background is reporting, not science, to have access to high-tech devices. So where on earth did Happy get a cryogenic chamber to put Joshua in at such apparently short notice in 1954? In his account, Joshua destroyed the house and killed his mother late at night, and the next morning Happy took him to a drugged breakfast and froze him.

That's less than twenty-four hours to acquire something that probably only the most advanced scientists in this sci-fi universe would have access to, and there's no evidence that Happy has connections with anyone who could hook him up with something like that in a pinch (his team, the Freedom Fighters, were pretty low-tech overall).

Is this chamber another of his solid light constructs (as the power-removing gun presumably was)? Or was the freezing of Joshua not a deperate last-minute choice spurred by a sudden tragedy, but the outcome of careful preparation and planning once this son proved "out of control" and needing to be "taken down a peg"?

Thank you!!! I'm just going to do 3 because they are long ones that encompass a few things.

1. I'm really proud of how much I've overcome, I started having really bad panic attacks in grade seven and they would happen pretty often, like at least monthly, if not weekly and excluding coming out of anesthesia from my wisdom teeth last week, it's been over a year since my last one. It's also been like a year and a half since I went to the emergency room, I used to have seizures daily, often in bouts of 2-5 and it's been 3 months without one, I finished grade 11 missing 3 months of school barely able to get out of bed and now I've finished my first year of university and I live alone. I'm just really proud that I have continued to put myself first, improve and keep hope for the rest of my life when the depiction of Ehlers Danlos on social media (and by the eds society) is that it will always be degenerative but with early intervention (what most people lack), consistency and luck I've mostly processed my grief, anger and fear and come to a really high quality of life. Like I am still in pain, and exhausted and experiencing all my symptoms but I have had such immense physical and emotional growth in the past 2 years that I really want to appreciate.

2. I really like that I am happy by myself and would never, ever settle for a bad partner, I am not afraid of being lonely or having to hurt someone. I have seen so many friends get into and then stay in bad or just mediocre relationships. While I'm sad that I haven't had anything close to a real relationship and I've only kissed one terrile person and this does interfere with the dream of being a homemaker,not having to care about someone who isn't my best friend or my parents is really nice. I only want to search something out if I really like someone, I have no desire to fill some void in myself. Idk my independence is just so peaceful and I love it.

3. I love how opinionated and assertive I am. It's something that a lot of women and disabled people and young people in general are discouraged from being so that we aren't sassy or difficult, and I was definitely bullied for it (especially by my older sister who really wanted to be ladylike) but it is like the core pillar of who I am and drives points one and two.

Favorite canon thing about this character?

Am I allowed to say backstory? I think that is interesting and it's weird that it isn't discussed more now. Also he is a Golden Age legacy and I do think his dynamic with Dinah has potential (platonically obviously) because of that.

If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?

Hmmmmm he should get a TV show I think.

What's a headcanon you have for this character?

Jay also tries to adopt him because of the one time he tried to befriend Happy and Happy was a dick. He's like "I would be a better dad".

I recently read a book that had a surprise incest reveal at the end, and thought I must inform you and your followers! It's called Here Lies Daniel Tate, and it's by Cristin Terrill. The incest is between a brother and sister, and it's nicely hinted at throughout the book (in that I was shipping them from the start and guessed that the storyline was going in that direction pretty quickly). I wouldn't say it's a positive portrayal of incest, in the end, but it was a fun read overall and I would recommend it. It wasn't at all on my radar as a book containing incest (isn't it great when it's just a surprise bonus?) so I thought I'd give it a signal boost here! :)

New canon! This is so exciting.

Plus I'm happy for you because surprise incest is always fun.

Round One, Part Seventeen Results!

Mein A/B/O-Arrowverse-AU-Verse:

Diese Serie von mir rekonstruiert das gesammte Arrowverse in einem Alpha/Beta/Omega-Setting. Sie geht gegen Ende der 6. Staffel von "Arrow", der 4. von "The Flash" sowie der jeweils 3. von "Legends of Tomorrow" und "Supergirl" zunehmend AU. "Batwoman" ist inkludiert, allerdings nur die erste Staffel und da auch schon von Anfang sehr anders als im Canon.

Diese Fics wurden zwischen 2017 und 2019 geschrieben, wobei die eigentliche Hauptstory zwischen 2017 und 2018 entstand. Spätere Einträge spielen zwischen den Ereignissen der vorher geposteten Fics. Prinzipiell geht dieses Verse mit dem Ende der 2017/18er Seasons vollkommen AU, daher werden später eingeführte Ereignisse, Charaktere und Ships nur am Rande benahdelt und eingebaut, und in diesen Fic finden sich nur Dinge die vor „Crisis on Infinite Earths“ passiert sind.

Prinzipiell bin ich der Meinung, dass es heute trotzdem noch gut stand hält, wobei der auffälligste Unterschied zum Canon die Tatsache ist, dass fast alles geschrieben wurde bevor Nia aktive Kräfte für den Kampfeinsatz besaß, weswegen sie im Kampf die gleichen Kräfte wie Dream Girl in den Comics verwendet und nicht ihre Canon-Traum-Energie Strahlen und Peitschen. Und natürlich sind die End-Game Pairings andere.

Inzwischen noch witziger ist was alles in meinem Fics passiert ist, bevor es im Canon ebenfalls passiert ist (wie etwa, das Clois-Baby, dass Lena Lex erschießt, Johns Lungenkrebs Storyline, dass Eddie zurückkommt, der Ausflug in die Speed Force während er großen Krise etc) und wie anders manches bei mir ist was der Canon absolut vergessen hat mir aber doch wichtig erschienen ist.

Chronologisch gesehen beginnen wir mit der Kindheit verschiedenster Charaktere und enden mit einer Szene im Jahr 1992, die alles abschließt. Handlungstechnisch enden wir aber im Jahr 2028.

Im Gegensatz zum Canon kriegen hier alle Serien - „Arrow“, „The Flash“, „Supergirl“, „Legends of Tomorrow“ und irgendwie sogar „Batwoman“ - ein Ende und jeder Charakter bekommt eine mehr oder weniger zu Ende erzählte Geschichte. Obwohl die letzte Fic das Ende von „Legends of Tomorrow“ darstellt, gibt es darin trotzdem Gastauftritte von diversen anderen Charakteren, die auf Erde-1 leben (es gibt keine Erdverchmelzung in meiner Version), und wir lernen etwa das zweite West-Allen-Triaden-Kind kennen, weil ich ja im Gegensatz zu Eric Wallace der Meinung bin, dass eine Franchise auch also solche beendet werden sollte.

Da dieses Universum zur Zeit der 2. Staffel von „Legends of Tomorrow“ und „Supergirl“ begonnen hat, sind die Endgame-Pairings entsprechend. Manche Fans werden hier also nicht glücklich werden, aber immerhin gibt es hier im Gegensatz zum Canon ein Ende für alle. Und auch wenn es manche Charaktere aus späteren Staffeln nicht gibt, gibt es trotzdem Happy Ends für andere. So findet Ava letztlich mit Caitlin ihr Glück, Nora wird als Single glücklich etc.

Endgame Pairings in diesem Verse sind (trotz diverser andere Pairings zwischendurch):

Charaktere, die im Canon gestorben sind, haben hier überlebt. Charaktere, die tot geblieben sind, sind hier zurück gekommen, Charaktere, die im Canon zurück gekommen sind, blieben hier tot, aber am Ende würde ich sagen, dass dieses Universum für mich selbst die befriedigendere Version des Arrowversums war, als der Canon, alleine eben deswegen weil es hier ein Ende für alle gibt und viele der problemtatischen Dinge Post-Crisis nie passiert sind und daher nie zum Problem wurden.
