Meet Aditi, a Computer Engineer by qualification and a Writer , Conceptualiser and a Senior Manager at Radio Mirchi, by profession. However, that hardly does any justice to the plethora of things Aditi has explored and excelled at! After graduating in Computer Science from VIIT, Pune, Aditi worked at Cybage Software for almost a year. It was there that she fully realised that her true calling was in the creative field and thus began her journey in the field of advertising and mass media.
Engineering, Work and More :
Coming from a modest but progressive background, Aditi recalls having a strong support system at home in the form of her parents and her twin sister, Anuja. With a family full of engineers, she decided to take up engineering as well. Both her parents being engineers only contributed constructively to this decision of hers. Aditi took the responsibility of her freedom very seriously. She was a very sincere student throughout the four years of graduation but often saw it as somewhat mechanical. Breezing through her engineering with distinction, Aditi was always drawn to music and drama clubs and thoroughly enjoyed being a part of those. With an impressive score in her final year and a great project to her name, she was placed at Cybage Software.
Nine months into the job, she found it manageable yet unsatisfying in ways. Working as a Software Engineer didn’t make her happy at the end of the day. It was exhausting, tiring and still a chore! She felt little like herself. While everyone got along just fine, an ambivert Aditi felt like a sore thumb, desperate to explore her creative freedom. Through a digital project for an ad agency, her eyes opened to the extensive world of advertising. Now, there was no looking back! She researched about colleges offering relevant degrees and came up with a list of the ‘Top 5’ institutions. Just one month shy of completing one year at Cybage Software, she decided to put her papers down. Both her parents offered their unwavering support to Aditi to achieve her dream. But there is no denial that it was emotionally taxing on the family to face the society calling out at various occasions at such a change of vocation .
Another Chapter of her Life :
Preparing right from the scratch for the examinations, Aditi had confidently claimed to crack all the entrances. She had a tight schedule spanning over three months. Despite the tough competition, here she was, at St. Xavier’s Institute of Communication, Bombay! Studying at this prestigious institute was one thing but living alone in the city of dreams was another ball game, altogether. Aditi was looking forward to living life on her own terms.
After completing her PGDM in Advertising and Marketing, she secured a job at FCB-Ulka, one among the Top 3 advertising agencies in India. After garnering experience in a big agency, Aditi decided to explore life at mid-sized agencies. Her new job at two mid-sized agencies gave her the opportunity to explore her potential to the fullest. She was working as a copywriter and also facing clients. Behind the scenes, she was doing so many things beyond her role! Her next step in life brought her to Famous Innovations. After a year there, although not aggressively, she was looking out to different options – a change. That is when Radio Mirchi, Pune reached out to her!
A Welcome Change!
Aditi had taken yet another jump and started a new journey. Although she had explored the vast advertising field, radio was only a part of it. Nevertheless, she made a few hectic but fruitful trips to Pune and back to interview with Radio Mirchi and she got through! Although she loved her independent life in Mumbai for 4 years, she decided to give this change, a chance.
She joined Radio Mirchi, Pune in June of 2017 as a Copywriter and Conceptualiser. Aditi describes her typical day at work as long but very flexible. Her work hours are very much decided by the tasks that are dependent on her. Being an experienced and better informed person, Aditi is always willing to help people who are wanting to take a leap in their advertising career. She says that the workplace is progressive, comfortable and quite ‘chilled out’. The culture, she says, is ‘non-robotic’, welcoming towards originality and inclusive. It has truly enabled her creative freedom. She describes her experience at Radio Mirchi as ‘life-changing’. Aditi says she loves her current job, especially the fact that she gets to be entirely herself. She calls Radio Mirchi as one big family where she feels a sense of belonging. “Mirchi is home,” she says.
Some Interesting Facts about Aditi :
Aditi has been a student of Hindustani Classical music since childhood. She rediscovered her passion for music after she befriended a few people from the music industry. Sharing their passion for music, they instantly clicked and thus began another journey for Aditi; this time, a musical one. In October of 2019, she got to exhibit her skills as a songwriter and singer through her song “Baarish”, which is currently available on all major music streaming platforms. With further collaborations with big-time artists in the music industry, she recorded her second song, “Pao Kilo Adrak”, a Hindi Jazz song. Aspirational of making a music video for the song, she hosted a fundraiser for this project. Aditi passionately mentions that, although working with big artists had its financial challenges, she didn’t want them to be paid anything less only because they were friends with her. The fundraiser was thus an effort of showing love and respect for the artists and their art as well. She successfully raised a large amount of money to make this song her commercial move into YouTube and further into the music industry. Her YouTube channel with Monesh, her music partner, is called “Two of Us”. During the lockdown of 2020, she has also written two more songs which will be released soon.
Apart from her devotion to music, she has also carved her niche as an author. She has written and published her book called “Moving Mumbai” which she wrote and published in 2015, while living in Mumbai. It is a collection of short stories and is available on many online shopping platforms.
Words of Wisdom :
Aditi recalls having a complete personality change from engineering to her current job at Radio Mirchi. A metamorphosis of sorts. She says that the joy that comes from finding your passion and pursuing it gives an ultimate glow-up to your personality. She further says that taking the plunge, expecting failures and still risking changed her approach to life, positively. She warns that one must be ready to face rejections. This made her more flexible to incoming opportunities. She shares a candid thought, “Don’t make rigid plans, go with the flow.” She recommends ‘learning and unlearning rules’. One has to be ready to take flak, both socially and professionally. This, she says, is a learning curve. In a field like advertising and mass media, Aditi motivates the younger generation to be bold. “Face your fears,” she says, “You cannot be a damsel in distress.” Despite facing a bout of depression, Aditi only emerged stronger through it. She let herself feel the lows, accept them and take the necessary help. She says, it is not wrong to ask for help when needed, but it is important to rise above your problems. Her mantra throughout had been to not show the fear of failure on her face. No matter what happens, she decided to stand strong through it.
Aditi is a strong woman and a role model for the younger generation. Her knowledge, strength and confidence polishes her charisma. She is an inspiration to all those who wish to change their paths after completing their graduation in engineering and even to those who don’t. One can draw insight and vision from her experiences and words of motivation.

Teacher ‘Santa’ brings cheer to Nueva Ecija kids
#PHnews: Teacher ‘Santa’ brings cheer to Nueva Ecija kids
GAPAN CITY, Nueva Ecija – Bringing joy to others can still be done this yuletide season despite the movement restrictions due to coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
An elementary teacher in this city proved this, not thinking twice about sharing her blessings and putting a smile into children’s faces.
Dressed up as Santa Claus with a face mask and face shield, Roselle del Rosario Mananggit, a Grade 2 teacher of Mangino Elementary School here, made house-to-house visits to her pupils and brought them some goodies as early Christmas treat.
Since there are no face-to-face classes due to the Covid-19 crisis, Mananggit decided to personally hand over her Christmas gifts as rewards to her pupils “for being diligent in doing their learning modules and at the same time, to let them feel the spirit of Christmas despite the pandemic.”
Mananggit has been giving small presents to her pupils during Christmas season for the past several years.
But this was the first time that she wore a Santa Claus costume to let her pupils feel the spirit of Christmas. Children are not allowed to go out of their homes during the community quarantine to stem the spread of Covid-19.
Gapan City is currently under a modified general community quarantine status.
“Gusto kong ma-feel ng mga bata ang spirit ng Pasko (I want the children to feel the spirit of Christmas) even in a simple way,” Mananggit said in an interview.
Citing a quote of the late British actress Audrey Hepburn, she said “the most important thing is to enjoy your life, to be happy. It's all that matters.” Mananggit said sharing her blessings to others brings her happiness.
“Wish ko po yun nung birthday ko. Thank God at natupad (It was my wish on my birthday. Thank God and it was fulfilled), said the teacher, who celebrated her 48th birthday last Nov. 4.
She thanked her husband and son, who are both teachers like her, as well as her relatives, co-teachers and friends for the support given to her in fulfilling her charitable acts.
Some of Mananggit's pupils and their families have taken their appreciation of the treats they received to social media and posted about her deeds tagging her as “Teacher Santa of Gapan City.”
Pinky Aguilar Policarpio of Barangay San Lorenzo, this city said “a good example of strong and good teacher with a heart. Pandemic Christmas house to house. Proud of you Ma’am Roselle.”
“Ang aga mamigay ng pamasko ni Santa. Thank you so much po ma'am Roselle del Rosario Mananggit naa-appreciate po namin lahat ng effort na ginagawa nyo para sa mga bata (Santa gave his Christmas presents early. Thank you so much Ma’am Roselle del Rosario Mananggit. We appreciate all the efforts you have been doing to the children,” said Ivanna Faith Villar Juanta, mother of one of the pupils.
Even her former students felt proud and inspired by Mananggit's gift-giving especially during this time of a pandemic.
“Wow naman, Ma’am. Nakaka proud po, sana tularan po kayo ng iba. Kaya favorite teacher ko kayo noon hanggang ngayon. At nakaka-proud po kasi isa ako sa mga batang naturuan ninyo noon at nakita ang kabaitan and kabusilakan ng inyong puso (Wow, ma’am. I feel so proud and I hope others will emulate you. You are my favorite teacher before and until now. I feel so proud because I was one of children you taught before and I saw your kindness and the purity of your heart),” Kathleen Salaysay said.
“Wala na akong masasabi kay Ma’am Roselle. Kungdi isa po syang mabait, mapagmahal, maalalahanin and responsible. Lagi po syang nandyan para suportahan ang lahat ng mag-aaral. Higit sa lahat hindi po sya nakakalimot, kahit po kami ay magkalayo at kahit siya'y maraming ginagawa hindi pa rin niya nakakalimutan ang mga estudyante niya (I have nothing more to say to Ma’am Roselle except that she is kind, loving, thoughtful, and responsible. She is always there to support her students. Most of all, she does not forget, even if we are far apart and even though she is busy, she never forgets her students),” Alliana Khate Constantino Catacutan, also a former student of Mananggit who is now a Grade 7 pupil at the Sta. Cruz National High School.
Mananggit has been known to be generous and supportive to her pupils not only during Christmas time.
Catacutan disclosed that her former teacher brought her a cake during her last birthday.
“Isa siyang huwarang guro. Katulad na lamang nung kaarawan ko dinalhan niya po ako ng rainbow cake. Na-appreciate ko po ang lahat ng ginagawa ni ma'am Roselle. Siya ang the best na teacher para sa akin. We love you po ma’am. Miss you po (She is a model teacher. Like on my birthday, she brought me a rainbow cake. Ma’am Roselle, I appreciate all of what you have been doing. For me, she is the best teacher. We love you, ma’am. We miss you),” she said.
Beauty salon owner Irene Reyes said Mananggit had even sponsored the hair rebond treatment of some of her students.
“Ang turing nya sa mga estudyante ay parang mga anak. Noon walang pandemic, dinadala niya dito sa parlor yung mga estudyante niya at pinapa-rebond treatment niya bilang reward dun sa mga deserving ones (She treats her students like her children. Before the pandemic, she brought here for free hair rebond treatment those deserving ones as their reward),” Reyes said.
It was also learned that when the lockdown was imposed due to Covid-19, the teacher distributed milk for babies in this city.
For Mananggit, teaching is not her only passion but also sharing her blessings with others. (PNA)

ATM with Bryan | 22
I’m constantly in search of how to open my blog with a greeting– without apologizing for being inactive like I usually do so… What’s up, readers? This is me, Bryan Llamado, and welcome to my blog! First things first, Merry Christmas to you who are reading this! I hope your Christmas wish(es) come true and you get every single item on your wish list. Well, it isn’t bad to wish for some things when you’ve been good all year long, right? I also hope you feel all the Christmas and holiday vibes because people rarely feel them nowadays.
It’s almost 1AM in the morning and I decided to draft this entry much because I wanted to write something on Christmas– to do something productive. Of course I have a lot of things to blog about like my 4 month internship in Thailand, oratorical contest in Baguio and how the recent semester was! My schedule has been crazy during the start of the month because we finished our undergraduate thesis and defense. Plus, I also joined a competition in Baguio! #damingtime Luckily, the semester break just began and so, I’m giving you a list of my ‘at the moments.’
C U R R E N T L Y
Reading
Losing Hope by Colleen Hoover. I know I mention CoHo a lot in my blogs and how much I love her novels! Well, the word love is an understatement. I’ve considered myself addicted to CoHo novels after reading November 9 and It Ends with Us. Since then, I found myself reading CoHo books from time to time. And after reading Hopeless, I decided to read this one which is a companion novel of the former.
Writing
the 22nd volume of ATM with Bryan. I have a whole lot of blog topics to work on and I hope to finish all of them before the next semester begins. Ang dami ko nang utang sa inyo! And I might as well start paying my blog debts with this entry. I’m also looking forward to blogging about new topics pero secret muna. Baka mag-expect agad kayo! Basta watch out for my next entries na lang! Haha
Listening
to The Essential: Celine Dion album– and I’m not even kidding with this one. I recently stumbled upon a Zac Efron interview and he mentioned that he has this album! So while I was looking for good music to listen to before starting this blog, I remembered that interview so I immediately looked up for this album in my library and pressed play (but skipped the tracks that I don’t know lol).
Thinking
about what to splurge slash spend on this Christmas. I suppose everyone’s getting their fair share of Aguinaldos this season and the money will definitely go somewhere– food, shopping, clothes, bank (some people actually save lol) or charity (for the kindhearted ones). I’ll be a little selfish this time but I don’t know where to actually spend the money on. Any suggestions? Decent ones please. Haha
Smelling
the scent of mosquito coils– decided to light up one because I already feel some mosquitoes trying to bite my skin.
Wishing
for a new phone. My phone (which is a ZH&K Odyssey Ace) has been with me for three years now and I badly want to replace it. It’s such a hassle to use much because it’s old already and there are things that I want to work on (my blog, YouTube channel, Instagram feed) that my phone’s capacity could not carry out. I’ve been eyeing some Android brands for a while now so I hope to get one ASAP.
Hoping
to spend quality time with my family and friends this holiday season! What are holidays for if you don’t spend time with your loved ones? This is also the much needed time when everybody is free from *responsibilities* so we have time to catch up and bond. I miss my high school friends so much and I think I won’t stop talking the moment we see each other! Kwento pa more!
Wearing
a red shirt that I got when I was in high school and a pair of blue shorts– still in last night’s sleep wear because today is a stay-in-and-no-ligo kind of day.
Loving
the fact that I have the time to blog, read novels and plan things. I rarely have time to do these things once a semester begins simply because I have a hard time balancing my schedule and my free time is spent mostly on SLEEP. I know I barely rant about how stressful college life is but most of the time, I feel burnout kicking in because I couldn’t do the things that I love.
Wanting
to get a new planner for 2019. I decided not to get a Starbucks planner for next year because it’s not practical. When I got back from Thailand, I only go to school every Fridays and when I need to accomplish something so my allowance was cut down to just enough for my needs. I knew collecting stickers will only drag me down the drain so I skipped this time. Siguro next year! Haha
Needing
to go on a diet. It’s not a secret that I gained a whole lot of weight when I was still in Thailand and I haven’t done anything to get rid of the extra weight just yet. I think I also need to exercise badly! Di na sapat yung diet diet lang! This time around, I won’t pressure or starve myself in order to be fit. Also, some people (including me) think that I look better with my current body. *winks*
Feeling
excited to see my relatives and friends this Christmas. We just had our annual family reunion with the Llamado angkan weeks ago and I definitely had a good time! This season, it’s the turn of Gatdula angkan to reunite. I also haven’t seen my high school friends for the looongest time and we already have plans of going out. *sana matuloy* *sana hindi drawing* lol
Clicking
on my Adobe Lightroom CC app. I need to change my feed and I found the perfect preset that will help me achieve the theme that I want. Unfortunately, the theme I chose (which I won’t reveal yet, abang abang na lang) is hard to maintain so I’m editing a bunch of photos just to have enough stock in case I ran out of new photos or ideas. Hassle but it challenges my creativity so laban lang! Haha
I hope everyone’s having a blessed and restful Christmas season!
Advance happy New Year to everyone as well!
Till the next entry!

Juliana,
may the candles light up your wishes
and the moon lay its light on you
may the constellations take away your nightmares
so days won't feel anymore blue
these letters you're about to see,
may remind you of friendships that keep you free
so keep going, wanderess
for the world awaits for seventeen more years of your presence — m.m.m.

Who would have thought that in just one night, we shared our hearts together without hesitations and with full excitement inside that room, we are sitting on top of our green screen cloth that's the very moment I realized I'm going to treasure her.
Happy birthday to the girl who, at first, I feel so intimidated but later on up until now, gained my love & my purest form of care I would give to a sister everyday. I always remember her everytime after I take a bath u wanna know why? because she's the one who taught me to properly cover my hair with the bath towel. All I can say is I'm hoping that as we grow older, we remain friends and sisters.

You've been through a lot, and I really look up you for that. First thing that comes up in my mind whenever I hear "Juliana, Juliana Milanbilen" is a strong independent woman.
As I get to know more about you, I've seen your greatness, your different sides and a lot of things I truly admire—and your fun side's my favorite!
I am beyond grateful that I've met a Juliana Milanbilen. Your baby boy always got your back! All your love, your help and other things we share are truly appreciated. Happy, happy birthday, Ate!
written by Jacques
To the best anchorwoman and one of the faces of Cavite and CALABARZON TV Broadcasting, happiest birthday, Juliana! Two years na tayong magkakilala at kahit tuwing may press con at trainings lang tayo nagkakasama yung nabuo nating bond at friendship ay strong pa rin. Makwento ko lang. Noong DSPC 2018, akala ko talaga grade 11 ka rin o kaya grade 12 pero laking gulat ko noong training na you are a grade 10 student. Hahaha! Kahusay banaman. Our future anchor, never settle. Never settle for less than what you deserve. I know that you are capable of extraordinary things, and it's your purpose to fulfill your visions and dreams. Don't let those go. Rise to them.
Yana, thank you for laughing out loud, listening to my horror stories, those prankish fights, and all those crazy kinds of stuff we did. Thank you for being our light every time both teams were down. I will forever cherish the memories we've made along the way, and I'm looking forward to more. Sana kahit hindi na tayo masyadong magkikita at magkakasama sa mga susunod na taon, hindi pa rin magbabago yung nabuo nating bond sa loob ng dalawang taon. Yana, I just want to remind you that we always got your back, and we are only one call away. I can't wait to see you on TV! Again, happy birthday!!! I miss you! I love you!
written by Matthew
Hello, ate Juliana! Happiest birthday to you. I hope you're doing well. I'm really thankful to have you as one of my ates during my first year in campus journ. I learned a lot from you. We may not have a lot of moments together, but when we do, they're all nothing but genuine. I remember you comforting me while walking on our way home from school after a depressing training. That day, I learned how harsh it is to be in TVB, but I also learned that no matter how harsh it can become, you will always have friends who are there for you during those trying moments. We are a group— a family, after all.
To be a Juliana Milanbilen is to be a fighter. You are, by far, the bravest gal I've ever met, and for that I'll always have you and your character to look up to whenever I feel hopeless. Again, happy happy birthday to the one and only Juliana Milanbilen.
written by Chloe
Happiest Birthday sa aming Juliana Milanbilen. I don't know but the way you say your name, sobrang iconic. Doon pa lang makikilala ka na. It feels like destined ka to stand up and to stand out. Ever since na makilala kita, you were both a "baby" and an "ate" to us. Sobrang tapang mo, pero sobrang humble rin. I know that you'll be great, and even greater pero I still want to wish you the best because I know that you deserve only the best. Lovelots, Juliana. Happy Birthday!
written by Jhester
Hello, Yana!
First of all, Happiest Birthday sa pinakamabait at pinakamagaling na TV Broadcaster na close friend ko! Hindi ko talaga inakala na super magiging close tayo noong sumali ako sa TV Broad! Super dami kong masasayang memories with you! Miss youuu and see you soon!!! Happy Birthday!

To our beautiful and woke future anchor/ reporter, intelligent and sweet bunsoo, i wish you a happy birthday!!! Waaah two years may not be long enough but always know that im forever thankful and happy for having u and get the chance to work with u in the field na minahal ko rin. Alam mo naman na isa ka sa pinakaclose kong kaibigan na para nang kapatid kaya sobrang weird din sakin na kung hindi si micka, ikaw yung shiniship sa'kin sa tvb HAHAAHAA!!! I will never forget all the experiences we've shared in NSPC 2019 kasi doon kita mas nakilala at sa tingin ko, doon nagsimula yung matibay na friendship na meron tayo ngayon.
Please know that i'm always here to help you, support you, and love you as your friend and big brother kahit ano pa man ang mangyari. Sumbong mo agad samin kung sino mang aaway sa'yo kasi reresbakan agad namin HAHAHA djks. Yana, you’ve always been one of the most admirable women I’ve ever met. At such a young age, you’ve managed to face and overcome so much whether it was alone or with the help of people close to your heart. Through all that, I’ve watched you grow and am continuing to witness you become the best version of yourself.
I am so glad to have met a girl whose love for people, for her passions, for life never burns out. I hope you never run out of fire. Happy birthday, baby! I love you forever.

Hello, Juliana! Only a year has passed since we got really close pero sobrang dami na agad nangyari. Tbh, I'm a little sad because we don't talk much these days and because I feel like I suck at being a friend. Pero as your forever cancer boi, I wanna let you know that I'm always here for you no matter what. Even if we don't talk much, please know that I do think about you and I still care. Actually, sometimes, I still feel like sending you a new song na feel ko magugustuhan mo hahahaha.
Anyway, happy birthday to you, sunshine! I hope you find the peace that you were always looking for and I pray that it stays. There were challenging times and there always will be but I pray that you remain strong as a person and with your faith so that you may overcome it all. Continue being the compassionate yet adventurous soul we've always known. I'll take you for coffee anytime, magsabi ka lang. Love you!

Staying strong in a constantly changing world is called courage, and you might just be the embodiment of it. I have seen you struggle on one foot but still chose to step forward by the other. And when I think superhumans aren't real, I remember you and convince myself I'm wrong — because I didn't just meet one, but also shared moments with — and that, for me, is a blessing.
Juliana, you are a woman fit for love and I sincerely hope you never run out of it even if the world refuses to give it to you. I'm sorry if there are things time don't seem to mend, but I promise I will always be here to put a band-aid on your wounds and make you forget it was ever there at least. Our friendship is the sisterhood I never thought I needed, but as soon as it came, I always prayed that your kind of blessing is what God showers me more of.
Happy birthday to you — the love that keeps growing, keeps healing, and keeps inspiring. You may forget about other days, but I hope you always remember this one. I love you.

Kazuko san’s visit to Imphal
It was during my visit to Japan in September-October 2019 that I met Mrs. Kazuko Yasunobu (Kazuko san) at the residence of the Indian Ambassador to Japan, H.E. Mr. Sanjay Kumar Verma in the evening of 1st October. That was a dinner party hosted to welcome the Manipuri cultural team led by our Honorable State Culture Minister, Mr. Langpoklakpam Jayantakumar Singh and the Director, Department of Art & Culture, Government of Manipur, Mr. Aribam Shivadas Sharma, MCS. I was part of the cultural troupe as a Coordinator. The cultural troupe performed at various events across different cities such as Namaste India Festival (Tokyo and Karia City), Kyoto, Niigata, Osaka, etc.
That very night, Kazuko san was wearing a fine Assamese mekhala chaddar with a beautiful flower decorated on her hair and a bright red bindi on her forehead. It showed her immense love for our Indian Culture. Other than that, I knew nothing about her. However, it happened that she was performing Odissi (one of the six classical dances of India, originally of Odisha which is an Eastern state of India) at Namaste India Festival, Tokyo where our Manipuri Team also performed. As I was too occupied with the coordination work for our team, I somehow failed to notice her performance.
She said she had plans to visit Manipur in January next year i.e. 2020. Later on 5th October, our cultural team went to Tokyo from Tokamachi mountain city to perform especially for the Bengali community as it was Durga Puja time. There, for the second time, I encountered Kazuko san with full make up and colorful costume as an Odissi dancer. Oh, I found out she is a professional Odissi dancer. She addressed me as ‘didi’ (Hindi word for sister) and we clicked few photographs together. She is currently an Odissi, Sambhalpuri Teacher at Vivekananda Cultural Centre (VCC), Embassy of India in Tokyo. Moreover, she has her own dance class at Studio Odissi in Tokyo.
Next few months passed by and there was no communication between the two of us. One fine day, she sent me a message and told me about her confirmed trip to Imphal, my hometown, in January 2020. She had requested me to arrange for a home stay and to contact some teachers for Manipuri Dance and Thang-Ta (Manipuri Martial Arts) so that she could learn few basic steps. I responded to her request positively. As my husband, Mr. Gurumayum Dharmadas Sharma was working as Principal-In-Charge of Government Dance College, Manipur, I requested him to help Kazuko san in every possible way so that she could get what she had expected out of her Manipur trip.
I told her about the Solo Dance and Music Festival which was to be commenced from 22nd February to 24th February 2020 and inquired if she wanted to come to Imphal in February instead of January. But she was firm in her decision to be here in both the months.
My husband sent a formal invitation letter to Kazuko san at VCC, Tokyo by December end of 2019 for the Solo Festival which was to be jointly organized by the Eastern Zonal Cultural Center, Kolkata (Ministry of Culture, Government of India) and Government Dance College (Department of Art & Culture, Government of Manipur).
Hence every arrangement was made starting from booking hotel, pick and drop from airport and other domestic travel, dance and martial art classes along with provision for students from the Dance College for her ‘Sakura’ (Japanese word for Cherry Blossom) Dance Composition and many more.
Kazuko san arrived at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, Malom, Imphal on January 3rd. We asked our friend, Mr. Acharyamayum Shantakumar Sharma to pick her up from the airport. In the evening of her arrival, I went to meet her at hotel Sangai, Nagamapal where she would be staying for the next few days of her first ever trip to Manipur.
The next day, 4th of January, my family took Kazuko san to Rita Café, Classic Hotel, Imphal for evening tea. She wished me happy birthday as it happened to be my birthday. Since she wanted something Manipuri in taste and flavor, we ordered singju ( Manipuri salad ), khajing bora ( Deep fried battered prawn ), and CCT ( locally produced lemon grass tea ). As Japanese usually do not take very hot and spicy food, I asked the service boy to make singju less spicy. However, it turned out to be a bit hot and spicy for Kazuko san. Later, the service boy came back with another plate of less spicy singju at no extra cost. What a treat it was!!!!

While we were returning from the café, I told her about my morning nature therapy treatment. She expressed her desire to join as she felt exhausted after long hours of travel and hectic schedule. Before coming to Imphal, she already stayed in Bhubhaneswar, Odisha and had performed in various events. During those days, she had received prestigious awards such as Nritya Bhushan Award in addition to various other national and international recognition that she had already been honoured wih.
So, on January 5th morning, Kazuko san joined me for the treatment which was conducted by one of our local therapists. It was a relaxing experience. Unfortunately she didn’t continue after some untoward experience.
Once she arrived at Imphal city, she kept herself busy by learning Manipuri dance and Thang-Ta. At the same time, she made a fusion composition based on the famous Japanese classic ‘Sakura’ to be performed by herself and a team of students from Dance College at Japanese War Memorial, Maibamlotpa Ching, Nambol. For the Manipuri dance steps of the composition, she took help from Guru Gurumayum Loken Sharma, Senior Lecturer, Government Dance College, Manipur. Oja Laishram Brajakumar Laishram, Senior Lecturer (Flute ), oja Pebam Tiken Singh, (Pena, a traditional stringed instrument of Manipur), Mr. Ben Johnson ( Guitar ), Mr. Amit ( Pung, Manipuri Drum ) and Mrs. Anjella Yenkhom ( vocal ) became important part of Sakura composition along with many other Manipuri students, both male and female dancers. She expressed contentment that our Manipuri students are quite enthusiastic, fast learners and are very serious in learning and make the whole process of interaction a fun filled activity. Often these students shared homemade food in the college premise and that made Kazuko san feel quite at home in Imphal in spite of being a first timer in the city.
Some special moments with friends in Imphal as captured by Kazuko san
On 7th January, we picked her up from hotel at 9 am for Japanese War Memorial. Just as we started, my elder sister Angousana Devi handed over to me a huge carry bag full of fresh marigold flowers near Nagamapal Lai Ishing Chaiba Temple to be taken for offering at Nambol as Kazuko san wished. The team of students from Government Dance College, Manipur led by Guru Loken and Kazuko san performed ‘sakura’ fusion composition as an offering to the departed souls of the numerous Japanese soldiers who led their lives on the soils of Manipur during the Second World War, 1945.

On the way to Nambol, she told me about one Manipuri friend of her husband who was currently in Fukuoka Ken, Japan. This friend helped her husband with information about Manipur while he came here last year to gather some idea about select Manipuri hotels. As there was shut down of market on that day, Kazuko san’s husband failed to visit those hotels of which he wanted some information. To my utter surprise, this young lad came out to be my nephew, Vicky Ningombam, who is working in Fukuoka as a Manager in a hotel at present.
So, while returning from Nambol, we took Kazuko san to Laxmi Hotel and Imoinu Hotel, both at Wahengleikai, Imphal West to collect information and to take some photographs especially of the local cuisines being served there.
The very next day, the 8th January was the birth anniversary of Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, a legendary Odissi exponent and is the guru of Kazuko san. We went to Sri Sri Govindajiu Temple, Imphal East where Kazuko san made special fruits and flowers offering to their Lordships Sri Sri Radha Govinda and Sri Sri Jaganath Baladev Subhadra as a humble obeisance to her dance guru. Later, we had delicious prasadam. In the latter part of the evening, Mr. Shanta took Kazuko san to Ima Keithel, the world’s only market run exclusively by women only. She purchased some colorful Manipuri traditional shawls and phanek (sarong worn by Manipuri ladies).
After returning to Tokyo in January, she came back to Imphal on 20th February for participating in the Solo Festival. Renowned artists from Manipur and other states of India took part in the festival. It was the first time that a Japanese artist took part in this festival. Some of the artists who gave their scintillating performance during the 3-day festival apart from Kazuko san (Odissi dance) were Ms. Ivana Sarkar (Manipuri Dance), Mrs. Muktasana (Manipuri Dance), Mr. Srijan Cahtterjee (Hindustani Music), Mr. Anoubam Shashikumar Sharma (Sarod), etc.
She performed a new composition ‘Saraswati Sakura Mangalacharan’ with live music by a team of musicians from Bhubhaneswar on 23rd February, the second day of the Solo Festival.

On 24th February which was the third and the last day of the festival, Kazuko san performed an Odissi-Japanese-Manipuri fusion composition along with few teachers and students of the Dance College. She displayed nice Origami creations too during the performance. Even Mr. Ben Johnson ( a staff of Art & Culture Department, GOM) and Mr. Shanta also became part of the dance composition.

The 3-day festival was, as a whole, well acclaimed by viewers and critics. The location and timing of the performance at the Government Dance College with greenery all around and in the open auditorium right under the starry sky around the evening make the ambience so attractive and the performance an enjoyable one. Once you arrive there, you tend to watch the performance till the end. That was the attraction I am talking about.
One good thing about the program was that many elected representatives of state assembly came to see the performance along with their families and expressed words of appreciation.
Though it was a Solo Dance and Music Festival, the Dance College showed two new group compositions choreographed by Guru Loken to give an exposure of the college students and to encourage them for future stage performance.

The next day, i.e. the 25th of February, I organized an “Origami” workshop for school children under the banner of Young Learners’ Academy, a kids care academy at Nagamapal Soram Leirak, Imphal West, the program of which was conducted by none other than Kazuko san. The “Origami” literally means folding of paper and is a Japanese art of paper craft. It is believed to be good for coordination and cognitive development and has become an important part of Japanese culture. Following the last few days of extremely hectic schedule of rehearsal and stage performance, Kazuko san was almost ill on the 24th night and 25th morning. However, she made sure that she would conduct the Origami workshop as planned. Some 29-30 kids along with their parents participated the workshop and it was a huge success. Thanks to Kazuko san who despite her weak health taught our kids the Origami items, that too with the materials she bought all the way from Japan. In addition to this, she distributed Japanese candies to the young participants. Sincere thanks to Saknaibi, Sormorjit Lai, Bikash, Loijing, Sonia and Vijaya, all students of Dance College, came and helped us during the workshop. It really was a great evening for all.
On the day of departure, the 27th of February, madam Laishram Shantibala Devi, wife of honourable Culture Minister of Manipur, met Kazuko san in Government Dance College. Students and teachers of Dance College met Kazuko san to bid farewell. Mr. Shanta dropped her off to airport.
26th February was bit rainy and cold. Around 3pm, Saknaibi picked Kazuko san up from her hotel and took her to well known RKCS Art Gallery. Later she was taken to local sculptor who makes different idols of Lord Jagannath. Kazuko san has special affection for the Lord as she has already stayed in Odisha for several years and is used to Oriya tradition where Lord Jagannath is an important part of life and the Jagannath Temple at Puri, Odisha is a famous tourist attraction. In the evening, my husband joined them and took Kazuko san to our home at Brahmapur Mangjil for just few minutes. Once she was dropped back to her hotel, I met her for the last time of her February trip. We laughed and chatted together for a while. I told her that when our culture minister’s wife asked me what she could buy to present to Kazuko san, I suggested an off white, temple bordered ‘Rani Manao’ (traditional Manipuri hand loom silk stole). To pair up with that, I gifted Kazuko san a ‘Phanek Mapaanaiba’ (Traditional Manipuri sarong with embroidered border). Also Somorjit Laiphrakpam designed two white netted dupatta (the Hindi wod for stole) so that Kazuko san could use to display Japanese Manipuri fusion dance when she’s back in Japan.

After two nights stay in Delhi, Kazuko san reached Tokyo safely on 29th February.
On 8th March which is International Women’s Day, we had Review Origami Workshop at Nagamapal, Imphal as a follow up programme of the last Origami Workshop held on 25th February. Kazuko san came online to teach Ureshii Hinamatsuri Song (Delightful Doll Festival Song of Japan). She suggested that we should review Origami so that we do not forget the steps of the paper craft that we had already learnt.
A shot taken on 8th March during the Review Origami Workshop at Nagamapal, Imphal
Further, we made plans to have online interaction with Kazuko san and her students of Studio Odissi, Tokyo and our team of students of Government Dance College, Manipur led by Guru Gurumayum Loken Sharma. Though this could not happen on scheduled date of 12th April due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, it will certainly be done in near future as the current lockdown and emergency situation get lifted in respective countries. So it is the very beginning of our cooperation and the cultural exchange programme and it has a long way to go.

2019 was a rollercoaster ride. Had my fair share of success and made a big ass disappointing failure. No regrets tho. I made new friends, I figured out what I wanted, and realized what and who I didn't need in my life. So, thank you, 2019, for being a lesson learned and I hope to not make the same mistakes in 2020. May 2020 be the year that we get to choose ourselves and live our lives for us (not for others). I wish you all a prosperous New Year!! 🥳🥳🥳 Sorry, I've been MIA friends. Hindi ko lang talaga alam paano na ijuggle acads and buhay ko. Please bear with me. I swear andito lang ako. Hindi lang talaga ako nakakareply agad agad. Sorry po talaga, mahal ko pa rin kayo. I just really needed to prioritize myself first. Or kayo nalang magsama sama, please lang. Iba hanap niyo and I respect that but don't drag us into it. Please lang. Thank you!! 😉 Things I hope for in 2020: -take more photos, and hopefully upload them on time. The 2010s...
A decade is a long time. The last one has seen a big paradigm shift for me. As I look ahead, into the unknown, here are the highlights of each year as I grew as a woman, a mother, an architect, and an athlete.
2010: Transformation
Me taking charge of my life, from coping with things, I started “Living”. The children were growing up quickly and I was settling down into a routine of work and running. Things were looking up and I was smiling more.
2011: Independence
I took my kids for a vacation to Thailand. That was a landmark trip for me, as for the first time ever I was with them in a place where I did not know anyone! It was just the 3 of us! I remember waking up with cold dread in the middle of the night in a Bangkok hotel and thinking that I am responsible for them and I need to look after them! I was “growing up”.
2012: Challenge
I turned 40. In your 20s, you’re so busy living life and dealing with stuff without thinking about the “why”. Fast-forward to your 40s, and you’ve developed that steel that says: I’ve messed around long enough; now I’ll do what I like and I’ll do it well! Inspired by my new running group, I ran my first Marathon that year!
When I crossed that finish line I knew that I had found my race.
When I crossed that finish line, I knew that I was a new person.
I learned a very important lesson that year, “All dreams come true if we have the power to pursue them.”
2013: Loss
My father-in-law passed away that year and then I felt that I was really on my own, to figure out “the real stuff”. I am grateful to him for having seen him live with his principles and teaching me all that I know. For showing me, by example, how to hold your head up high and smile through the pain.
2014: Success
I learned the meaning of the word “Success” as I set a challenging goal for SCMM that year, trained for it and ran it to plan.
My strongest finish ever.
My most focused race ever.
The seed to qualify for the Boston Marathon in 2016 was sown then. I learned the meaning of grit, determination and understood how the hunger to accomplish something could ignite a fire.
2015: The Realisation of a Dream
My book was released. I had always wanted to write a book as a kid, although I never knew what it would be about. Running, along with everything else that it gave me, gave me a book with my name on it. Writing and getting it published was a marathon in itself! The heartaches and setbacks were real-life lessons. When I shared my story, I got so much support from so many people. Runners, friends, family. So many came forward and shared theirs with me. My small world just exploded and I was enveloped with affection and respect.
2016: Impossible is nothing
The race I ran in Rotterdam, was a culmination of 3 years’ work, sweat, pain, and single-minded dedication. While training for this race I left no stone unturned to make it happen. Demolishing the demons in my head, one by one, I understood that all that was in my control was the training. The outcome would be what it would. So, I gave it my best. I had started by being amongst the slower runners, but I worked hard and made the impossible happen, by qualifying for the Boston Marathon.
2017: Freedom
Of course, the highlight of 2017 was running Boston, with the electric energy of the city and the support of family In Boston, I felt super special and free! A four-year dream comes to fruition.
On the same trip, driving on Highway 1, from LA to SF, just the 3 of us was truly liberating. A new place, the logistics of renting the car and fuel filling and all, which were all real fears, now banished!
Bring on the next thing, I was ready!
2018: Iconic
A year that I was taking it easy from work.
A chance encounter with a running friend led to me spending half a day and having a wonderful chat with India’s most respected architect B.V Doshi. An institution by himself, it was like meeting Amitabh Bachchan and having lunch with him! Truly a high point in my career! He didn’t quite understand why I was interviewing him….you are an architect…not a journalist…and you have written a book on running! It blew his 90-year-old mind!
2019: Becoming: Triathlete and Self
And of course, easily the biggest thing for me as a parent was Arnav and Sanjana leaving within a month of each other. An empty nester now, I looked forward to their return as young adults and hearing about their adventures in their world.
Call it impatience, or perhaps a clearer sense that I want to live in the here and now, I started making room in my life for the things that really matter. People, time and adventure. I set myself a new challenge by doing the Triathlon. Swimming in the ocean was really the one that took me back to my childhood and the fear of the Hindi exam. I took the time to learn the nuances of the new sport, learned to laugh at myself and spent time sipping black coffee, slowly. With a clear eye, I saw the world as it is today and yet chose to be, lightheaded.
I have found Happiness.
Happiness, I have learned is a by-product and not a goal.
It is the effect of your actions.
Happiness is what you feel when you do things you love.
I have found Love.
Over the last decade, my family has expanded to include runners, triathletes, swimmers and more and my inner circle remains as tight as ever. The children, though away, are becoming more loving and more supportive.
Above all, I am grateful.
An extract from my blog post of 31st Dec 2009:
“But nothing major happened all of last year! And I think that it’s not the big stuff but the moments which made us smile, laugh, cry. Things which made us pause our daily machinery to reflect, think and ruminate.”
My wish for the next decade:
“For the air to brighten, to be dazzled and the heart to lighten.”
Gratitude: Thank you all for being a part of the journey.

Thank you all for being a part of the journey.

Uncommunicated Love
Do you know how powerful prayer is? Do you believe that God answer prayers? How long do you think God answer prayers?
A few days ago, I attended a wedding celebration of my college friend. Ofcourse, I was also excited to meet my long time friends again. And most especially, I was excited to see the person I am praying for. It’s Mark. I prayed to God about him to be the best man for me. To be my future partner in life.
But, who is Mark in my life and why I prayed for him? We’re friends since 2014. We met by common friends in the Academy. To me, he is always there to support me and remind me about the things I should and should not. He helped me emotionally in very situation that I am facing. I am who I am when I am with him because I am very comfortable with his presence. He respect me as a friend and he never done something beyond our friendship. We meet every year or every time he visits his brother here in Baguio City. He is a breadwinner and his love for his family is genuine. Above all, his love to Almighty God.
Last March 2019, we had the chance to catch up about each other’s lives. We talked a lot of things. After that moment, I realized something that its hard to address so I thought of writing it out.
March 30, 2019
To my dearest friend,
I always wanted to write a letter for you since the day you left me in front of my door with your warm hug. I can’t sleep and think about you. Let me write for you this time. Minsan lang ito, hayaan mo na.
I never thought that you will still remember me and count me as your friend. And I am grateful to have you. (This is not a love letter, so please don’t tease me).
You are the person who always remind me to love myself. You are also the person who stopped me on doing stupid things but as you know, how hard headed I am. For instance, the Battalion Hop 2014, you told me that I should not attend because I might get hurt by seeing them happy. But there, I did not listened and instead I went to Hop. What happened next? I messed up. I let myself get into trouble my introducing myself to his girl.
Pero hindi nagtatapos doon. My next heart break came. I still remember what you told me, “love yourself by giving 70% for yourself and 30% for him.” But eventually we broke up. And this time, you told me, “sa susunod kilalanin mo ng mabuti.” If the time comes that I’m ready to enter to a new relationship I hope that everything that I’ve learned from my past will not be wasted. I think I figure out what I really want for a future partner. Can you be my standard? I am not saying I like you. (Well, maybe).
Remember the day that you should go home already but instead you asked me if you could go with me at the Academy? I don’t know why you changed your mind. After that, I thought you will already go home but you maximize your time with me and we went to Session Road for Panagbenga Session in Bloom. It was a little bit awkward for me because we never did that before. Maybe because we had limitations, we were both in a relationship before. I just got little bit surprised why we were so sweet with each other. But I don’t want my emotions play with it. And to be honest, I really enjoyed that moment especially when we watched the live band at the Session Road.
Fast forward.
You know that I have an interview to attend to at Quezon City the following day. I was really upset when I didn’t woke up in my alarm. And then, I went to your room and lie down beside you. I know I’m such a sweet and clingy human being. I don’t know if you misinterpreted it. I even explained myself to you. I lied to myself what I really felt about you back then. But best thing that ever happened was that you NEVER KISSED ME. I was so damn surprised. I know you were already tempted but you did not let yourself fell into it. And for that, I wanna say thank you!
So if I will entertain or choose a guy again, I think a guy like you. A man who is not easily be tempted. I will choose a man who is responsible.
I became so disobedient when it comes to my spiritual life because of the last heart break. But after we talked I tried to open a book again. Little by little. Sana bumalik ako sa dati. And that’s another thing na gusto ko sa partner ko, yung pag uusapan namin yung spiritual life.
Did I told you what if I like you? What might happened to us? Nevertheless it did not happened. I will not be able to learned these things afterall.
Siguro dahil hindi ko rin naisip na magkagusto sayo kasi may girlfriend ka noon and you treat me nothing but a friend. And I respect that.
I hope nothing will change even if this is so awkward na. You know when I’m writing a letter it means you matter to me. I am so damn korny, right?
Last thing, if ever that time will come for me to love again, I want our first kiss will be on our wedding day. If I have a particular person in mind, I want it to be you. But if God did not permits, I hope for the best man and someone like you.
P.S. Did I just confessed? oh please don’t tease me if nabasa mo ito.
Love,
Jenny
My roommate, Arianne, told me that it was her first time to see me genuinely happy. She also mentioned it his boyfriend. They were glad that I finally experienced that moment after the heartbreak I’ve been through. Because of that, we made a deal. If time comes that we will meet again, I will confess my feelings.
Here comes the wedding of our friend. I did not expect that I will be invited at their wedding in Cagayan de Oro City. Mark is one of the groomsmen. I took this chance to finally confess it.
Wedding day. I became double-minded about confessing it. So I prayed about it, “ Lord, if I confess it will be awkward for us and it might ruin our friendship. I pray and choose to keep it to myself and keep our friendship. Our friendship is very important than risking it beyond. Amen.”
During the wedding, I noticed his ring finger that there are two rings, silver and gold. It looks like a wedding ring. I asked him about it but he just smiled and then I ignored it already.
During the reception, it is a practice to invite the single ladies and gents to participate in the games. I was one of the participant and then the host caught Mark’s attention saying “sayang naman Sir hindi ka na pwede, you were married 3 days ago right?” Then here I am so confused in front. Totoo ba? Baka nagjojoke lang yung host. I’m his friend. I supposed to know. I believe that was a joke until I asked one of our friends. “Is it true?” I asked. “Kayo ang magkachat bakit hindi mo alam”, he answered. Then he showed the pictures of Mark’s civil wedding. The girl is pregnant.
I was unable to move. I can’t even say a word. Should I congratulate him or ask him why?
A friend of mine called. Then I started to cry.
After the reception, we went to place where I stayed. I changed clothes and went to the hotel they stayed. Waited for them and went to after party.
I can’t help but drink more I could take. I dance like I don’t care who see me dancing. Laugh like there’s no tomorrow. Until a friend uttered something that strucked my ego, “magtira ka naman para sa sarili mo.” I stopped. Sit beside that friend. Then I stepped outside.
No one noticed me until another friend came back and looked for me. He said he was worried and looked for me in the dance floor and in the other tables. But no, I was not there. He looked for me outside and he was with Mark too.
I told them what happened and comforted me. I asked if I could talked to Mark alone.
I was crying. I asked Mark what really happened to him. Why he did not told us about his wedding in advance? I even asked him if it was just a “shotgun marriage.” I know what was a stupid question I ever asked to him. And regret about it. I did not congratulate him or say best wishes. I just think about myself. I was still crying and then told him that I prayed for him. Sobbing and hugging him. There’s nothing I could do now but to accept the fact that the person I prayed for is now married to other woman.
“Hindi lang talaga tayo para sa isa’t isa.” his last words to me.
After that, I know we will never be the same again.
He will always be a special friend that looks after me. A friend who wishes the best for me. I am always grateful for the years I’ve known him. He will always be in my heart.
I know he will be the best father to his child and a good husband to his wife. I believe that he will never fail them. The best of the best.
And for me, I believe that God reserved the best man for me. Waiting is not a easy thing but it will test my faith. Blessing comes with maturity.
Keep praying even if your prayers will not come true in your desired time because God knows the best for you and it will come in His right time.

Preserving holiday cheer thru 'virtual reunions'
#PHnews: Preserving holiday cheer thru 'virtual reunions'
MANILA – With only three weeks to go before Christmas, planning getaways and gatherings with loved ones has been a part of the Filipinos' way of commemorating the season. However, with the current situation due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), people would have to defer seeing their loved ones from other places physically as authorities discouraged the holding of reunions for the holidays.
For some, being prohibited to hold Christmas and New Year's Day reunions due to the pandemic means lesser holiday cheer as Filipinos are known to bond more with their closest of kin and friends during the season.
Trisha Alcantara, a 30-year-old marketing executive from Sampaloc, Manila, said the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has certainly affected the way Filipinos traditionally interact during the holidays.
"Human connection (during the Yuletide Season) is important to all of us, which is why not being able to physically spend time with family and friends can be a shock to our value system this year," she added in an interview with the Philippine News Agency on Thursday.
While technological advances in communications can help fill in the gap, Trisha admitted that seeing loved ones in the flesh is irreplaceable.
"It's so sad that instead of spending time together during the Yuletide season, mag-oonline calls na lang kayo (you would just talk to each other via online calls) or online chat. Nakakalungkot naman po diba? Hindi naman ito yung nakasanayan nating tradisyon (It's sad right? This is not the tradition we have been used to) but we need to comply para sa ikabubuti ng bawat isa kahit mahirap gawin. Kahit miss na miss mo na yung family mo (for everyone's own good, even if it is difficult. Even if you really miss your family a lot)," added Alcantara, who has family members in Mangatarem, Pangasinan.
She is also seriously thinking of whether she will risk it to go home during the Yuletide Season or just settle for video chats or calls with her loved ones.
"Actually po, iniisip ko nga kung uuwi ako or talagang via chat or video calls ko na lang muna sila makikita (I'm thinking if I would go home or would just settle with chat or video calls just to see them), Staying connected to loved ones right now is more important now so let's make sure na kahit di kayo magkakasama, happy pa rin yung celebration nyo (that even if you are not together, you would still have a happy celebration) with simple online conversation or calls," she added.
Alcantara added that she is planning to suggest to her family that a "virtual reunion" be held so that at least they will be together even if not physically present.
To do this, Alcantara suggested that Facebook or online "invites" be created to ensure everyone is on time for the virtual reunion and has food and drinks ready for the event.
"Get one person to organize music for everyone to enjoy, create a fun, vibey atmosphere kahit online lang kayo nag-uusap (even if you are just talking with each other online). Though I missed chilling with them in person, at least safe naman po ang bawat isa (at least everyone is safe)," she added.
Earlier, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon Lopez said the Christmas Holidays will be different amid the global health crisis.
“It would be a subdued Christmas; less of the big reunions, more of intimate reunions,” Lopez said. He said mass gatherings will still be prohibited due to risk of spreading Covid-19. There will be more virtual reunions than physical get-together during Christmas season, he added.
Meanwhile, for Third Anne Malonzo, 30, a reporter residing in Taytay, Rizal, connecting with loved ones and friends online is not a bad idea considering that the Covid-19 pandemic is still ongoing.
"I don’t see any problem with this. Whether we see each other in person or not. Families will remain as families and it's still better to be safe than sorry. Besides, there are many other occasions that we can spend time together after this pandemic in which we no longer have to worry about being infected by the virus," she added.
Malonzo also said she will take advantage of the digital technology to send her regards to her loved ones as a means of reaching out during the Christmas Season.
Meanwhile, 32-year-old banker Francesca Nalus, a resident of Quezon City, said she is a little sad as she will not be able to visit or have reunions with family and friends during the holidays.
"A little sad because even though it is nice to see people through video calls, it still feels different celebrating the holiday season together physically," she added. However, Nalus said she understands the reason for this as this move by the government will help in preventing more Covid-19 infections.
And instead of face-to-face reunions, she said Zoom and or other messaging apps that have video call options Facebook messenger, Whatsapp, Viber can be utilized for "virtual reunions".
Meanwhile, Michelle Elvin Panganiban, 34, an accountant, from Meycauyan, Bulacan, said not having a chance to reunite with her loved ones this Yuletide Season is a bit sad.
"A little sad because I can’t hug them. It’s so hard to express how much I love them," she added.
But Michelle said she understands the reason for this as this is needed for the safety and well-being of everyone.
"We must endure it now to stop the spread of the virus so we could have a worry-free gathering in the future," she added.
But for Nadine Agleron, 35 and a housewife in General Trias, Cavite, said having no physical contact with loved ones during the Yuletide Holidays is a sensible one as safety, health, and wellness should be the priority of everyone.
Also, she added that for those wishing to interact online or virtually, there is an app called Houseparty which is similar to Zoom.
"It's like Zoom, with games, videoke, etc. You can also prepare games that can be played online," Nadine said. (PNA)
