Christmas Post

Soooo actually I wanted to write a poem for every single one of you and send it your way. BUT it turned out that I got this idea way too late and even if I'm good in english I'm not that good to write that many poems in such a short time.

Soooo instead of writing everyone their own poem I just post those I already got and tag you all here.

I wish you all a merry and happy christmas I love you all and I'm so thankfull to know every single one of you. You all are so amazing!

Poem 1:

The snow falls down and glitters so bright. Everywhere you look, a blanket of white. It's the day of peace and love, The day of christmas time. Look how beautiful and bright the lights shine.

Be merry, be jolly, be full and be fed, Have a beautiful christmas eve, My dear, lovely friend. Because it's Christmas, as you know. The day of magic, That always makes us wonder and glow.

Poem 2:

Oh christmas tree, oh christmas tree, how you are standing there so beautiful and free. Decorated with lots of colorful ornaments, with wholesome little messages. There to make your moment oh so sweet, to make your celebration complete.

Round 2 Schedule and BONUS CHRISTMAS ROUND!

Hello everyone! Round 1 has wrapped up, and we will be entering Round 2 soon! But first, since it's December and not a single Christmas Island song was nominated for this tournament... WE'RE DOIN A BONUS CHRISTMAS ROUND FOR DECEMBER!

So basically, the songs from Christmas Island and Tis the SeaSon will be going up against each other so we can find out what the best Jimmy Buffett Christmas song is! I randomized the matchups yet again (except for Mele Kalikimaka, the two versions from each album will be going up against each other) and the final matchup should wrap up on Christmas, so afterwards we'll proceed with Round 2 of our regular tournament. :)

Below is the matchups for the Christmas bonus round starting 11/27/23, as well as the schedule for Round 2, which will start in January.

this year's christmas makes me sick. it's not just the social obligations one has to live up to, that happens every year, but i woke up today and realized that as i get older and material gifts matter less and less to me, it makes me sick just how christmas has been so desentisized to the point that we have the guts, the outright shame, to be jolly and merry and be grateful for our "blessings" when the world is on fire.

and i want to specify that the christmas that makes me sick is the christian catholic christmas. my faith pushes me to be shameful for how we treat christmas now. not once have i heard a priest, during their homilies, mention anything about the ongoing genocide.

is not the nativity a daily scene everyday anywhere in the world where peoples are displaced from their homes, from their land?

is not the savior and the holy family that we celebrate one of the humblest of origins precisely because they're the least in society?

do we have the audacity to blaze fireworks when across the world, a child is terrified of explosions, is dead because of explosions, is an orphan in the rubble?

it punches me in the gut when the social media bubble is filled with celebrations, statements of thanks for the blessings and material wealth one has received in the year, when one takes the name of god of jesus and praises them so emptily so selfishly.

we don't have the shame.

sure, no amount of wallowing in grief and helplessness can miraculously make everything better. that i can be told of to just be happy and celebrate and enjoy my holidays whatsoever.

but how much does it take to remember, to acknowledge, to spend a prayer for everyone and anyone suffering right now?

is christianity just this? desensitized parties, vain praise and worship songs, consumerism and more of it?
