This is a Jegulus birthday one-shot dedicated to the lovely, sweet, kind, talented, and most perfect @kat-m-toast. Happy birthday 🖤
TW: implied explicit content
Four things are true:
James Potter loves birthdays.
James Potter has never had a surprise party because he is so excited for his birthday every year that he always helps his friends plan him an elaborate party.
Regulus Black hates birthdays and elaborate parties.
Regulus Black loves James Potter.
It’s the fourth one that is the current cause of Regulus’ migraine. Presently, Regulus is sitting in the dark, crouched down in the Gryffindor Common Room on a Saturday night surrounded by rowdy lions, who he just cannot get to shut the fuck up.
“Do they truly have no sense of decorum? They are going to ruin the surprise,” Regulus thinks with an irritated huff.
You see, James’ birthday fell on a Wednesday this year. Which was a problem because he had quidditch practice at 5:30 am (the maniac) and what is there to do on a Wednesday? The Marauders, as usual, caused a giant commotion over breakfast, how they made every fork and spoon say happy birthday prongsie when touched Regulus will never know. They then partook in riotous revelry throughout the day, so you know, the same as any other Wednesday.
Regulus, the HBIC (head boyfriend in charge) planned a candlelight picnic on the astronomy tower. It was sentimental, cute, quaint even, their relationship did start on that very tower, after all. But, Regulus knows his boyfriend and his love of grand gestures, birthdays, and, sadly, elaborate parties.
This brings us back to number four, Regulus Black fucking loves James Potter. This means Regulus knows that, although James was grateful for their candlelit birthday picnic, he was also disappointed that his Wednesday birthday meant he couldn’t have a party.
Or, so he thought. Regulus isn’t the HBIC for nothing. So, he’s spent months meeting in secret with the Gryffindors (vomit), sourcing firewhiskey (surprisingly easy), writing Effie to get her to send James’ favorite cake so he can blow out candles (this muggle custom confuses and disgusts Regulus, but James loves it and it’s not like Regulus is a stranger to James’ spit), convincing Peter to “accidentally” lose the map (yes, Regulus knows about the map, no, they aren’t that discrete), convincing Remus to steal the invisibility cloak (yes, Regulus knows about the invisibility cloak, no they aren’t that discrete, like at all) and then sneaking everything up to the Gryffindor Common Room while Sirius distracts James (again, surprisingly easy).
But everything, every argument with his brother, every secret meeting with the lions, thank Salazar for Lily Evans, every trek through dirty passageways that Regulus sacrificed more than one pair of shoes to, hell, even the four nights of Regulus sleeping in the Slytherin Common Room that he traded with Barty in order to get the expensive firewhiskey (apparently there’s this thing Barty wants to try against the window and the floor that required him and Evan have complete privacy) was all worth it when he saw the look on his boyfriend’s face when the confetti flew into the air and everyone jumped up and yelled surprise.
Regulus has never seen James cry, embodiment of sunshine and all that, but even from where Regulus now stands by the stairs he can see the tears shining in James’ eyes.
When James finally spots Regulus, that’s when the tears fall.
“This was all you, wasn’t it, love?” James asks as he gets closer to Regulus, slipping an arm around his waist.
“Happy birthday, Jamie. I hope your surprise party was worth the wait.” Regulus replies, his lips against James’ cheek.
So yes, Regulus Black loves James Potter, and, if the show of gratitude he got in the Room of Requirement that night is anything to go off of, Regulus Black may be persuaded to like elaborate parties as well.

~INFORMATION~
I will probably often add stuff as I'm indecisive and always change
Pronouns: she/her
I'm an INTP
This will be a marauders blog, which I am currently obsessed with. My favorite ships are Wolfstar and Jegulus!! For the Golden/Lightning era, I like Hinny and Linny.
RECS (I will add more):
HONEY HONEY
Marlene McKinnon is shunned from the Wizarding World after her insane claims of Sirius Black’s innocence. Over the next decade, she has made a life for herself in the muggle world, working as a teacher in a Primary School in Surrey. But when a boy with green eyes and a lightning bolt scar joins her class, she is thrown back into a world she has tried to leave behind, but will do what it takes to make sure he is safe.
AU?: AU in which Marlene survives the war but is outcasted after claiming Sirius' innocence
POV: Marlene McKinnon
Pairings: Dorlene, Wolfstar
Themes: Rescuing Harry, angst with happy ending
MARGINALIA
Sirius is heir to a pureblood first family and Remus is a half-blood servant, but a chance meeting leads to healing old wounds, stumbling into love, and just maybe accidentally kickstarting a revolution.
AU?: AU were there was a revolution lead by Dumbledore and Grindelwald, leading to a pureblood supremacist dystopian economy. The half-bloods and muggle-borns are servants.
POV: Sirius and Remus
Pairings: Wolfstar, Dorlene, Jily
Themes: Rebellion
WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE YOUNG, YOUNG LOVERS?
Regulus Black, presumed dead for over 2 years, shows up at an Order of the Phoenix meeting with 6 mangled horcruxes and Voldemort's corpse.
How does the wizarding world move on following the abrupt end of the war, and how does Regulus come to terms with the last four years of his life?
Not on his own evidently, as his brother makes an effort to return to his life, James Potter tries to weasel his way into his heart and the friends he left behind in the name of the war aren't willing to leave him alone any longer.
AU? : AU where Regulus hunted down all the horcruxes and won the war
POV: Regulus, James, Sirius, Evan, Barty, and other
Pairings: Jegulus, Rosekiller, Bartylus, Wolfstar
Themes: Horcrux hunt, dark

Harbor the Parasite setting
The setting for Harbor the Parasite(or just HtP for short) takes place in the future, long after several catastrophic events had led to the downfall of the modern day into a long dark age. Currently, it's in a "neo-middle age" period where people are banding together to make communities among the badlands which are the wild frontier. But they have to fend off raiders, marauders, warbands, fascists, and other terrors, along with the dangerous climate as well as radiation and toxic air zones.
Long ago and before the final fall, countries contended against each other for total global power in economics and influence, but thining relationships led to a great war. America, already a war-loving prideful country, was more than willing for this impending conflict and its leader's hubris thought that this would be an easy victory to become the dominating force on the planet. But deep down, the ruling elite knew they needed this war, for America had been bleeding out. For the last several decades leading up to the final World War, America has been in a disastrous culture war that has several battles within its borders and its GDP declining due to economic stresses due to the civil war.
Before getting fully prepared for the storm, America had to unite. This led to a "culture campaign" in which both political parties finally set aside their differences if only to trick their population to finally stop in-fighting and then fight their upcoming war. But the big trick of the campaign, was to fake a terrorist attack, one that would cause massive devastation and show the American people that their "true" enemies are the other countries. That then would not only have a surge of newfound patriotism, but a whole new pool of workers and soldiers to fight. The false flag incident led to pointing fingers, it led to a new World War... The final World War, one that the world will not be the same after.
Like the rest of its global rivals, America dumped all of its resources into its military-industrial complex. Technology has advanced at an unprecedented pace, but only for militaristic means as the standards of living diminished as it wasn't a concern for the coming conflicts. Corporations climbed over each other for contracts on who can make the best weapons, be it destructive weapon systems to lay waste, genetic and cybernetics enhancements to make common infantry more lethal, remorseless AIs that are programmed to end as many human lives possible, super soldier projects and bio-engineered beasts to make apex predators on the battlefields, and other horrors. nowhere was safe as any place became a battlefield that was rendered into utter ruins, massive armies engaging brutal hateful combat while despoiling the very earth to prevent anyone from recovering.
While the economy has gone to levels never before seen with growth, the only people benefiting from it were the already wealthy elite ruling class from the blood sweat, and tears of their citizens. With both the grinding work expectations for the demands of the war effort and as well as the ruin the great war has wracked upon the planet. People have gotten wise that this war was not going to end well, and they were being taken advantage of as pawns in their political masters' game. It was time for change, to stop the nightmare once and for all. The working class planned a strike against the capital when nuclear absolution threatened to wipe out the world, not only did this become a plan to overthrow the careless government but also possibly to save the world. They laid a siege against the undefended capital, and with almost all military forces fighting on foreign lands. Citizens from all walks of life, former political rivals who would have been happy to kill each other before now marched to their leaders' thrones. The battle was quick, as the people fought with ruthless fevor and rage against their politicians for putting them through this mess. After the bloody uprising, The U.S.A. was no more and so was the world as they knew it.
Without the government to run America and the other countries wasted in ruins, the war had stopped but with no victory for any of the participants. While the threats of the final World War were no more, a new nightmare emerged. The new dark age when order and infrastructure have fallen. Infighting for what little resources there were and squabbling for power reduced the population, both in numbers and progress. Most devolved into primitive tribes while others became savage militaristic warbands that engaged with each other in what seemed to be endless battles. Along with the environmental damage, the air became toxic, wildlife and even unlucky humans mutated into monsters, and several locations that once were thriving populaces were reduced to smoldering radiation zones. It was an age of mindless bloodshed, madness, depravity, and savagery.
But the dark ages wouldn't last forever, as centuries later the dust has settled and the earth began to heal from the damage that the previous world had done to it in its pursuit of power. People decided to put aside their differences and work together to forge new communities, rebuild the infrastructure, and understand the technology that the world before had left. Thus now in the "neo-middle ages," the ruins of America have become the new wild frontier of bad lands with communities and guilds setting up to help each other. Settlements ranging from small towns to even independent city-states, and guilds that act as old-world corporations but lack the greed for profits and access to most of their old assets to help out the communities with products and services. It seems that maybe mankind has learned from its mistakes and can now progress with the corruption that it had from its previous generations.
But the old habits of humanity haven't died yet, and there are still plenty of dangers out there. Not everyone is trying to set up new peaceful communities, plenty of people delve into lives as raiders gangs, and warrior tribes that kill to either stay alive or sate their murder lust. Ruthless PMC warbands have risen with stockpiles of old military stockpiles, seeking to carve out their bloody empires. Isolated savage Tribes that reject the new ways hunt down the civilized, viewing them as intruders to their territories and weaklings for their reliance on technology. And old-world horrors that were best left forgotten either roam freely in the badlands or wait for any foolish adventurers to awaken them. And even with most sources of pollution long gone, the scars of the war have still damaged the Earth with extreme climates, toxic air, and radiation zones. But that's not the biggest threat the denizens of America have to worry about.
The F.E, or the Federal Empire, is a fascist regime that is the leftovers of the old government, hellbent on restoring order. Representing the worst aspects of the dead country, their leaders want to reclaim the "fallen land" and have an iron rule over everyone. Most of the people in charge are descendants of political leaders and elites, they have access to old military assets and develop new dangerous technology to help them in their campaign of conquer. They offer protection, structure, and peace, but their citizens have either two choices. Either work as slave labor to feed their war machine or become a soldier to fight, kill, and dominate. Armed with high-end tech and a well-drilled army to back them up, they oppress anyone who gets in their way.
And that is where the world currently is in the setting of HtP. Ruined by a great war from selfish generations centuries ago, the bad lands filled with madmen and mutant monstrosities, and a fascist regime wanting to conquer and repeat the mistakes of the past. But there's still good in humanity, plenty of mercs and hired guns take arms to defend the average denizen against the horrors or messing up the plans of the feds. There is plenty of adventure to be found in the badlands.

hey, so. i was not planning to say anything about this, and i am still a bit wary of like...inserting myself into this conversation in any way beyond the one ask i've already answered. but. i know that some of my posts and words have been tied into the whole no post november thing, and i just...idk. i feel like i want to clarify some things about the intention of my tiktokification essay.
the fundamental basis of what i was trying to critique in that post was interacting with fanfiction through the framework of a consumer economy. that is the core of it. that is what i view as the root issue behind many of the instances of harassment and just all-around shitty behavior that i see in the marauders fandom. my personal stance is that we should be treating fanfiction + ao3 as a source of community outside of any consumer economy, which to me means that
there is no clear boundary between readers and writers. there is no clear delineation between producers and consumers. we are all meant to be in community with each other.
fanfiction should not be subject to the same sort of criticism that you might levy against media produced within a consumer economy. that's what i'm talking about in my tiktokification essay and a few other posts i've made, so i'm not going to go into detail here -- i feel like i've already made where i stand on this clear
there are no celebrities. there are no "big name" content creators. there are no influencers. someone having their work advertised without their knowledge on a different social media platform and suddenly finding themselves with an audience they never asked for does not mean we should suddenly start treating those people as if they are influencers who intentionally sought out "fandom fame." obviously, it's different if someone is advertising their work with an intent to grow some sort of following or audience, but if someone is just writing stories and posting them and hoping to foster some community where they get to talk about characters and stories they enjoy, i don't think it is fair to catapult those people into a limelight they never asked for.
so like. that is my perspective on fanfiction as a community. that is what i mean when i say fanfiction is meant to exist outside a consumer economy. and when i say i am wary of framing a stand against harassment as a strike, it is because striking is inerently tied to the framework of a consumer economy, and i do not think it's possible to undo that framework by working within it. i will reiterate - i think it is great to see writers standing in solidarity with each other. however, if my essay is going to be part of that stand against harassment (which i am okay with! i wrote it because i was unhappy about the harassment i was seeing) then i guess i just...want to make sure that people understand the core of what that essay is critiquing.
i'm going to leave my thoughts there for now. my intention with this post is not to engage in any sort of debate or argument--as i've said many times, the thoughts i post on my blog are nothing more than personal thoughts and opinions; i am not claiming to be any sort of expert, and i am never seeking anything other than conversation. i am happy to discuss my perspective on the frameworks we use to engage with fanfiction, and i know that once i post something on the internet i don't have control over the ways in which my words might be interpreted. but hopefully this helps to clarify the core issue that i was attempting to critique with my tiktokification essay for those who are now coming to my blog to read it amidst everything going on.

HALF BLOOD PRINCE | Severus Snape Drabble AU
Tumblr media
What if Snape drops out of Hogwarts and became a whole different person when he came back?
Tumblr media
Severus Tobias Snape-Prince stared at the mirror in front of him. His once broken nose isn't crooked anymore, his once greasy hair was trimmed and was styled perfectly, his once old and shaggy robes were replaced with a new one. However, instead of seeing a Hogwarts crest, it showed the Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry that Severus took pride in wearing. Together with him are his friends,
Carolina Cyllene Agnes, a half-blood with her auburn hair dancing beautifully into the wind. Winston and Winnett Hart, who are pureblooded identical twins with opposite gender and an opposite personality. Finally, Alexander Achilles Kings, a pureblood who has blue eyes ever so calculating and a confident aura that could send shivers down their spines.
"Attention everyone. Hogwarts is three minutes away so kindly be ready and pack your belongings. Thank you"
Cyllene sent out a devilish grin towards Severus, "I can't wait to meet everyone's faces when they see you Sev"
Severus closed his book and stared at her before replying, "Splendid"
-
Severus Tobias Snape-Prince is the infamous Half Blood Prince who invented spells and hexes at the age of sixteen. Who created various potions that can immensely help the Wizarding economy. The same individual who got almost bitten and almost died by the hands of Lupin during fifth year of Hogwarts. The same person who got bullied and targeted by not only the Marauders, but by everyone else. The very same person who calls Lily Evans a mudblood.
He dropped off of Hogwarts when he realized that the Headmaster and Hogwarts staff are not doing anything to his issue starting with first year. He almost died, was the victim of a relentless attack but got punished instead of the perpetrators.
He has this plan, a plan that no one but him knows. It's a plan he made when something is wrong and will put him and well— Lily in danger. But since Lily and him were no longer friends, he used it for himself, instead.
Applying for Ilvermony which he got accepted in is the greatest choice that changed him into a better and happier man he dreamed of. The staff is fair, the lesson has a challenge that Hogwarts didn't have, no one will judge you based on your houses and everyone lives in harmony. Before attending classes, the school even offered a free check up to see injuries and stuff that could possibly be in the way of learning. Out of it, his scars and broken ribs were healed as well as his crooked nose which were fixed, thank Merlin.
But the most shocking news came to him when an owl flew right through the window carrying a letter from the Gringotts bank signifying that he is the last heir in line of the Prince inheritance and them wishing to see him immediately to get things sorted out. With this, he can finally buy ingredients he's willing to try, materials for him to use and a new wardrobe for him to wear. He even visited the Prince Manor where his grandparents, the same grandparents who disowned his mother, used to live before they passed on to the afterlife. He couldn't visit the other properties the Prince family owns seeing as he's still in school which is taking him up a lot of time.
There's even more shocking news about Severus Snape! He made friends that he could call his own! Expecting to be alone to a new world the bullying and discrimination caused upon him, these students: Cyllene, Winston, Winnett and Achilles were the first students to fully interacted with him. At first Severus was reluctant and hesitant but as the time passed by, he quickly warmed up to them which made the others happy and excited for their blossoming friendship.
The headmaster in Ilvermorny took a fond liking to him as well. Encouraging him to participate in competitions that the headmaster knew would catch his interest and supporting his projects and future plans while giving advice on their own made him win countless prizes and awards that made everyone knew who he is, The Half Blood Prince.
He didn't know if he'll thank Potter and his merry band for torturing him in school that he ended up like this or not. But anyways, time to face Hogwarts once again.
They don't know what's in store for them when the Prince has finally arrived to conquer the palace he once knew.

He even visited the Prince Manor where his grandparents, the same grandparents who disowned her mother, used to live before they passed on to the afterlife.

A Tender Harvest [one-shot]
Disclaimer
AO3 Link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/25994254
Pairing: SasuSaku
Summary:  Sakura and Sasuke help a village with their apple harvest, and Sasuke thinks about his relationship with Sakura. The thing about traveling together is it makes it that much easier to fall in love.
Author’s Note: So, I wrote this for the fanzine Seasons like a year or two ago and then completely forgot that it existed? And then I was trying to organize the mess that is my writing files and stumbled upon it again and figured, hey, why not post it? Especially since we’re coming up on Fall again lol. (Also, I don’t want people thinking I’m dead or something. I am working on some stuff for SasuSaku, but the creative juices haven’t been flowing as easily as they used to for this fandom…or, well, any fandom if I’m being honest. Kind of stuck in one of those “I should be writing original stuff” funks that hinders all of my fanfic efforts of late. But I am trying!)
Anyway, so here’s something (sort of) new for your enjoyment!
________________________________________________________________
Sasuke curses at the sudden lancing pain in his hand and yanks his arm out of the foliage to glare at his palm. In the centre, a wasp sticks to his skin by the stinger, its tiny wings and appendages flailing to remove itself. Sasuke gives a harsh flick of his wrist, dislodging the insect and sending it flying off somewhere near the ground.
He doesn’t kill it; if there is a nest nearby that would attract others, and there are enough of the little pests buzzing around the trees as it is.
It is early October, the hot autumn sun unimpaired except for some light haze and few bulbous white clouds in the distance. Crickets chirp, and the scent of wet earth inundates the air, mingling with sweat and the distant smell of a brush fire.
The little village where Sasuke and Sakura have been staying the last few days has an economy based largely around produce. Their apple trees, vineyards and rice fields require rigorous tending, as the yield is what keeps them from starving during winter months. They plant a lot, which means they harvest a lot, and any extra hands are welcome. Originally, Sakura and Sasuke travelled here because there was a need for a healer, but they chose to stay and help.
That’s a common enough pattern these days. Sakura keeps an ear out for places that need extra medical attention, and Sasuke fills his days with odd work. The routine is also an excellent cover for gathering information. People rarely ask them questions, too thankful for Sakura’s medical skills, and even without them, Sasuke’s arm usually discourages comment. There were enough men and women badly wounded in the war that no one needs to ask.
It also lends credence to his and Sakura’s wandering, since many people’s homes were destroyed by the war; first by the Zetsu army, and then marauders in the aftermath.
And we’ve encountered quite a few of those, too. Some friendly, some…not.
While Sakura makes house calls, he helps in whatever field where they need him. There were initially some who looked uncertain of his ability be useful, but he soon showed that his missing arm was barely a handicap.
Today he works in the apple orchard. It’s fairly large, maybe twenty acres, and there are a hundred or so people working alongside him. Clumps of men and women are scattered throughout, picking and packing apples in large baskets. A similar number of people sit just beyond the orchard, slumped or lying on the ground, or gathered around the few wagons with water. A few children squeeze into the tiny bit of shade provided by the wagons, but in this heat there’s barely any point to it.
The only ones happy in this weather are the wasps, Sasuke decides, frowning at his palm to see if the stinger is still attached. It’s not, but the skin is already beginning to puff up from the venom.
He shrugs it off—it’s not his first injury of the day, and he’s endured much worse in his life—and goes back to twisting the gleaming red fruits off their branches. It’s uncomfortable, but he finds he’s more irritated by the sweat drenching his clothing than the minor wound.
The orchard workers have had to work in shifts because of the rising temperature, and because Sakura insists that everyone who works needs to stay properly hydrated.
Sakura…
Sasuke became aware of her proximity about a half an hour ago, obviously finished with her work in the village and now arrived to help. Since then he has been vaguely conscious of her bringing people water or traipsing into the orchard to retrieve anyone who she thinks looks tired. No one bothers to protest the way she’s taken charge, either, and though it could be her status as a respected healer, he somehow doubts that’s the reason.
He remembers what she was like back in Konoha, carrying out important errands for Kakashi and running the hospital.
As always, on the tail of that thought he experiences a half-second of guilt for having taken one of their village’s most important resources on a mission of indeterminate length. The second half-second he buries that feeling, reminding himself it was her choice.
And he has no intention of admitting it out loud, but he can’t imagine how the past few months would have been without her by his side.
Well. He can imagine; he just doesn’t care to.
A bell rings in the distance, and someone shouts, “Break time! Change shifts!”
There are groans all around—relief from the orchard workers, and resignation from the vicinity of the wagons.
Sasuke ignores the call, intending to finish filling his basket before heading in, but even as he reaches for the next branch, there is a cough from down below.
When he glances down, he is unsurprised to find Sakura there, hands on her hips. “That means you too, Sasuke.”
“I’m almost finished.”
“No, you are finished. The foreman told me you started with the morning crew and didn’t switch out with the rest,” she informs him. “Just because you’re about the greatest shinobi alive, doesn’t mean you can’t get heatstroke. And just because I will take care of you if you get a fever and start throwing up everywhere, doesn’t mean I’ll like it.”
Sasuke’s mouth tugs upward a little.
It’s been an interesting dimension to their travels, Sakura speaking to him so frankly. There were a few days when they first set out together that she was still stuttering and wordlessly following his lead in everything; a few bandit encounters and a shouting match later, she found her backbone again.
Now, the only time he sees her flustered or nervous is because he’s caught her gazing at him, or when she realises she’s said something with unintended innuendo.
“Annoying woman,” he murmurs into the tree, but the words have long since graduated from contempt to affection.
With an affected air of reluctance, he picks up the basket he was filling and raises an eyebrow at her. She grins, and says, “Come on.”
Sasuke trudges after her toward the nearest wagon, sets down his basket, and heads for the water barrels. Children pour it into cups for the workers, some darting among the amassing crowd to pass them out. This is how Sasuke ends up with one of them, and he is quick to put it to his lips.
He takes several slow mouthfuls, to minimize the risk of brain freeze, and takes pleasure in the way the liquid dissolves the dry, gummy feeling in his mouth and throat. The second cup he is offered, he pours over his head, enjoying the sensation of the cold rivulets cutting through his sweat-streaked hair and down his neck.
Sakura lingers nearby, the look on her face conveying an ‘I told you so’, which he patently ignores before joining the line for lunch. The women of the village pass out rice balls and beef skewers; he accepts gratefully, and then he searches out the nearest bit of shade he can.
There’s an old momiji tree several yards away from the larger group of workers, its leaves already turning red and gold, but still providing enough cover from the sun. He heads for that and is unsurprised when Sakura joins him.
As they pass, he notices people shooting them knowing glances or smiling in something like approval. Several young girls whisper conspiratorially. When he was younger, he would have purposely ignored such scrutiny, at times not even realising what the whispers meant. Though he still pretends obliviousness now, he now fully understands the reason for the unspoken interest.
The implication that he and Sakura are more than just travelling companions doesn’t bother him the way it might have before. In fact, he finds odd comfort in the thought. These days, they are on the cusp of something more, something inevitable. They’ll get there eventually, but he finds himself in no great hurry to do so.
Not because he doesn’t care for her—there’s no question that he does.
But too much of his life was spent hurtling from one state to the next, never content with his current existence and always wishing for more. With this—with Sakura—he wants to take his time and experience every moment.
He’s pretty sure Sakura is of the same mind.
As they sit, she sets down the plate she was balancing between her forearms, and two cups. He takes the latter, still more thirsty than hungry, and drinks deep.
Noticing his blink as a bitter taste hits his tongue, Sakura says, “There’s cold tea mixed in. That quenches thirst better than just water alone, and the electrolytes will keep you going.”
“Hm.”
They eat in companionable silence, yet another new quality to their relationship. Part of it is that now Sakura has an appetite that rivals his own and doesn’t like to waste time talking when she could be eating. The rest stems from the indescribably pull that has always existed between them, an ease one only experiences with the most trusted of kindred spirits. Words would mar that somehow, and neither seems willing to do that right away.
It is only when her meal is finished that Sakura reaches into her pack and produces—of course—two bright red apples.
“I may have snuck a few,” she admits with a smile.
Sasuke snorts. “You’re in an apple orchard. I think you could be forgiven.”
She laughs at that and bites into one of the fruits, making a tiny noise of pleasure at the flavour that has Sasuke swallowing uncomfortably. A rivulet of juice drips down her chin, and he finds himself tracking its progression.
Sakura notes his attention before he can look away, and her cheeks darken.
“Sorry!” she says, a little flustered, and puts aside the apple. “You probably want some too, right?”
There is something I want.
The thoughts present themselves unbidden as Sakura digs around in her kit for a knife, and starts to peel the second apple over her empty plate. His cheeks a little warmer than earlier, he looks away and pretends disinterest.
“Don’t trouble yourself. I haven’t even finished my lunch.”
“Then it will be ready when you are,” she quips without stopping.
Out of the corner of his eye, he watches her carefully dispose of the peel and then cut the apple into eight equal slices. Anyone else would think she was babying him, but he knows this is just her way. She genuinely enjoys doing this. He is, of course, perfectly able to cut up his own fruit, or eat an apple as is. But he doesn’t like apple peels, and never has.
He wonders when exactly Sakura noticed that about him.
She holds out the plate of apple slices to him, beaming, and he remembers a similar scene, many years ago. Of her worried and smiling face, her nervous chatter and her hand holding out a plate of apples. And then the clatter as the plate and fruit itself were knocked to the floor.
This time he accepts, forgetting that he hasn’t finished his lunch, and bites into the first slice. The white flesh is sweeter than the apples he usually eats—he prefers them tart and sour—but it’s perfectly in season and tastes good.
Sakura’s lips part in surprise, and the motion causes him to nearly miss as he pops the rest of the fruit into his mouth. Thankfully, she doesn’t appear to see; instead, her eyes flick toward his hand, mouth firming.
Damn. I meant to keep that hidden.
Sakura barely waits for his hand to be empty before taking him by the wrist. “You’re hurt!”
The skin of his forearm and hand is crisscrossed with welts and scratches, as well as several wasp stings from when he was reaching into the trees. He’d forgotten about them, but with her attention, the dull hurts flare to life.
“It’s nothing,” he tells her, trying to take his hand back, but she doesn’t relinquish it.
“You always say it’s nothing. I’ve stopped believing you.”
“I guarantee everyone else working in the orchard has the same thing.”
“And I’ll get to them. But you’re here right now, and knowing you, you’re going to throw yourself back into work right away, so it won’t be until this evening when I get my hands on you again…” He raises an eyebrow at her. Her eyes widen. “That…didn’t come out right…”
He can’t help the slow smirk that pulls at his mouth, and she scowls at him.
“Shut up,” she grumbles, twin spots of rouge flaming even darker across her cheeks but holds his hand closer to her. Green chakra flickers between her fingers, seeping into his muscles and tendons, easing the sharp aching of scraped skin and pulling muscles.
While she heals, her expression relaxes, embarrassment giving way to concentration. He’s noticed that about her: when she uses her medical ninjutsu, everything else appears to fall beyond her awareness.
Still, there’s a tiny smile upon her lips and the fading colour across the bridge of her nose and cheekbones that has nothing to do with the autumn swelter.
When she releases him, she is unabashed and cheerful again. “Better?”
He flexes his fingers, studying the newly healed skin, and nods.
“Thank you.”
Sasuke straightens and reaches for another apple slice, frowning at a mild pinching sensation behind his neck. He hasn’t even rolled his shoulder once to disperse the tension, before Sakura is leaning toward him again, eye filled with concern.
“You’ve strained your neck,” she says, and it sounds accusing, as if she thinks he deliberately kept it from her.
“No, I haven’t.”
“Yes, you have! I know what that looks like.”
“I haven’t done anything strenuous enough,” he replies, a little indignant because he knows his body’s limits.
“Spending the day with your arm raised overhead and twisting fruit off branches requires different movements than kenjutsu or taijutsu,” she lectures. “If you don’t take care of it now, you’ll regret it tomorrow.”
“I’ll be fine.”
“Stop being so stubborn! Lie down and I’ll fix it for you.”
“No.”
“Sasuke…!”
She is growing annoyed, not understanding the reason for his refusal. He is easier with her lately when it comes to touching or being touched. It’s happened often enough—huddled together in the shelter of a tree when it rains, elbows bumping when they crowd into communal meal halls, or checking each other’s wounds.
If they were alone, he would let her ease the knots from his neck and shoulders, but right now they are in front of an entire village of people. Some of whom are viewing the interchange with blatant interest and amusement, others barely concealing the smiles on their faces.
The back of Sasuke’s neck feels warm. He dislikes such attention.
A look creeps across Sakura’s face, the one that Sasuke knows he will have no recourse against, and he has to act before it fully manifests..
“If you don’t lie down right now…” she begins, her voice rising with each syllable.
“Sakura,” he says, his tone soft but firm in its finality.
Her expression freezes at that, and she blinks, coming back to herself. Then, glancing around, she spots what he has been aware of for a while—the audience of workers pretending not to be observing them.
Her look of surprise is almost comical, and her cheeks flood red once more.
“I didn’t mean— I wasn’t going to— not in front of—” she stammers, all apologies and embarrassment and avoiding eye contact. She jumps to her feet, nearly slopping tea over them both. “I have to get back. They, um, probably need help cleaning up, and I have to go out and check on the other workers, and you…well, you’re right…we can, um, your arm…I’ll just…”
He’s enjoying her fluster more than he should and opens his mouth to speak—to say something smooth in delivery or laden with implication—so that it continues.
But she’s biting her lip as if to physically stop herself from stammering, and her eyes are shining just so, even as they dart about trying to avoid his gaze, and as has become a frequent occurrence, Sasuke discovers every word in his vocabulary suddenly vanishing from his brain.
It takes him several seconds longer than he expects to remember at least one.
“Later?” he suggests.
Sakura stops her fidgeting and meets his gaze. This time he doesn’t bother hiding his small smile from her.
That unnameable something passes between them, bolstered by the rustling leaves and dense heat around them.
Then she smiles back, a gentle and pleased upward curve of her lips, and nods. “Right. Um…later.”
She hurries away after that, tripping a few times before her posture straightens and he watches her transform from his Sakura to the no-nonsense, hyper-confident medic and director.
Sasuke finishes his meal and eases to his feet, ready to head back into the orchard. On his way, he passes one of the workers who is staring Sakura with an air of awe.
“Your girl is something,” he says, impressed.
Sasuke considers Sakura once more, as she directs a group of villagers to go around picking up discarded plates and cups.
In his mind’s eye, he sees a skinny girl with long pink locks, hands on her hips and lecturing him or Naruto or Kakashi for some misbehaviour or other. In a blink it’s replaced with the brave kunoichi, bruised and battered, caring for him when he was ill, or holding him back from throwing himself into danger.
A girl who wouldn’t give up on a boy filled with darkness, even when he shoved away what she offered, be it a plate of apples or her heart.
It’s not the first time he wonders what he did to deserve her.
But he doesn’t reveal any of this to the worker. Instead, he shrugs and says with complete certainty, “She is.”

I am trying to figure out how to fit this one into the Legacy of Fire series, but it mostly depends on me writing a completely different fic to allow that to happen, so this can exist in the same series as Miso Soup Everyday and You Are Cordially Invited. So for now it’s not part of the series...

I did actually write this instead of sleeping.
Today the rules in schools regarding bullying are strictly a no violence policy which in theory sounds good, but if one students feels entitled enough to inflict harm on another student they will do so regardless, and the victim of bullying (of course, this term is not necessarily referring to physical harm inflicted on others, but might also refer to verbal or emotional harm inflicted, even though this is not what I am discussing at this point) might even get expelled when push comes to shove, seeing as it will often be the pupils words against each other, sometimes even more people will back the bully simply because they’re afraid of them, or because they are genuinely friends with them (the bully and their friends might not always see themselves as the bullies, a fictional example of this is the group called the marauders in the popular series Harry Potter written by J.K. Rowling, that without a doubt traumatized and bullied one Severus Snape in the fictional piece of literature. They still saw themselves as the good guys and later drove Severus down a very dark and lonely path).
It has been proven time and time again that the current system in place isn’t working, and the only thing that will make a more accepting society is a more inclusive education in schools. It is important that everyone has the freedom of their own beliefs, but when these beliefs are challenged it should not result in harassment of fellow students. When indoctrination often starts at a young age it is the school systems responsibility to counter-act the spreading of information that might end up hurting genuine human beings in the future, after all, one of the current school systems the greatest responsibility isn’t spreading correct information to educate the next generation, but to raise us to be functioning members of this society.
It stands to argue that this is a harmful thing, when it usually tends to narrow peoples’ mindsets as well as resulting in that the same mistakes continue repeating, as well as the powerful people keep their power. People in positions of power will often do everything they can to make sure they keep that power, and that they get their way the majority of the time.
That is why the two-party-system in the United States of America, for example, is a faulty system, seeing as the party that won the election will go on to become president, and then change as much as possible just because, come next election, there’s a 50% chance their opponent will get voted in the office instead and so the cycle will repeat.
Humans are animals that appreciate patterns, as do nature, but after a while they get tiresome, when we have found every single way to squeeze every ounce of power from it, we will move on to the next shiny cycle to repeat, extort and abuse. It’s in and of itself a cycle, a pattern that will never be broken unless we learn to appreciate change as much as we appreciate safety and stability; because the earth is faulty, that much is obvious, humans take, and we take, and we take and what will happen when we have concurred everything on this planet, in this galaxy? What will happen when there’s no more land for us to colonize and rule?
Is there such a thing as a society where everyone is happy? Probably not, seeing as the thing with opinions are that they’re allowed to be different. But when said opinions directly hurt marginalized groups of people, when they are directly responsible for murder, are they still valid opinions? When you can trace the genocide of an entire group of people back to a person with an opinion, is this persons' opinion still valid? When a hundred of people die because doctors don’t give them proper medical treatment based on an opinion, can it still be regarded as valid?
An opinion formed independently from outside influence, based on what information the individual themselves has gathered, free from emotional attachments based on facts (feelings are a valid thing to take into consideration, but seeing how easily our own brain can trick us into thinking we are experiencing one thing when we’re, in fact are not, is scary and if we only rely on feelings to base our opinions on, that would be based on your own brains confirmation bias because we as humans don’t like to be wrong), is what might be called a valid opinion rooted in truth.
Then we have the question about morality, what is morally wrong and what isn’t? Seeing as this will be the guidelines for how we live our life's I fret that schools don’t teach us enough about this from a young age. What we deem morally correct are something highly personal, even though our society teaches us about some things that we generally seem to agree on; one of these examples being murder.
We as a society can in general agree that murder is wrong, immoral, but why? The active act of robbing someone of their choice, to without consent and with a single (or sometimes multiple) motion erase someone from existence (not entirely of course, seeing as the victims family and friends and every single action the victim has done will affect people, as humans tend to have an enormous influence on each other subconsciously or even concisely as the idea of random isn’t quite applicable to the humans psyche), is generally regarded as highly immoral. Does it have something to do with that people in general fear of the true nothingness that is death?
Humans are afraid of things we do not know, and we certainly don’t know death, at all. It is something mysterious, but maybe it isn’t. Death might just be the state when your brain stops processing your surroundings, when your consciousness stops existing. Why are humans obsessed with death? Maybe because we know that our days on this earth are numbered, our mortal lives will eventually come to an end. So why do we insist on hating other people?
Wouldn’t that be considered as a significant waste of time? To spend our numbered days on this planet insisting that our hate is rooted in love. In the end it will always be hate that is the root of our misery on this earth, as well as the fear of what we do not understand. Humans strive to understand the impossible, yet we seem to also resent it.
Words can hurt as much, if not more, than actions sometimes. And often the words will slowly nest itself into our brains, seeking a place to find permanent residence in, and we will let them. Because we are the only enemies we ever seem to lose to, as we are our own worst critic as well as our own best friend.
We can only see the world from our own perspective, we can’t swap minds with someone to see how they view the world, and regardless of how much we might try, we can’t ever understand all the complex threads that makes a person, but we sure as hell will try. Opinions are formed through life experience, so when we only have our own lives to base our opinions on, all of our opinions will automatically be biased in some way.
Then we have the concept of normality, that some things are normal and some things are not. What would you describe normal as? The opinion of the majority or the common trends we see in people? Why would we as a society group normal and good and safe in the same category? Normal is a synonym for common, and I would like to argue that only uncommon people have been able to contribute to change.
Is change a good thing? Or should we prioritize safety and stability? In today's world, I would like to reason that change is needed. While money and power rule the world, those without it will not be able to live as successful, or at least as influential, as the rich. What even is success? The definition of success today can be traced back to money, as humans desire to be in control of themselves and things around them. And without money, we are dependent on society to help us out, we’ll never afford everything that we want, and that’s just how it is.
The economy in the world is one of the most important topics in today's world, and that might just be because it is, in the end, the foundation of our modern society, and it’s been that way for an extended period of time.
The ones with money, if they do not go out of their way to do so, will never understand the ones without it, the privileged will do whatever it takes to stay privileged, and when the less privileged defend themselves society will, maybe to spare their own consciousness, find a way to blame them for their own misery.
In the beginning it was the church, finding ways to get as many as possible to join them, and by doing, so they gained power. With this power they evaded taxes, murdered, repressed womens' rights (in for example old Norse cultures women where regarded as, if not the stronger gender, at least equal to men), and found ways to alienate whole sexual identities, as well as justify slavery.
Today, it is still the remaining influence of the Abraham religions had on society that justifies the alienation of human beings from society. Poland and Russia are starting to draw back on their progress of rights for the LGBTQ+ community, and homosexuality is still met with the death penalty in some places, of course, even in progressive countries' homophobia is common, and insensitive people will always exist in society, I’m afraid, seeing as it was built on ignorance.
Pushing the American people to “settle” for a president is a, if I may so myself, stupid system. As of today, it’s election day in America, and now people are fearing for their own civil rights! It’s quite outrageous. Only a bit over half of the people in America vote in the normal elections (this year, it will probably be higher than that seeing the huge Trump vs. Biden situation), and if it was that way in, for example my country, the whole democracy would fall apart.
We clearly see the small amount of value that peoples own opinions against the overwhelming amount of power that politicians hold in elections, and we also see the clear desperation and willingness to do whatever it takes to keep oneselfs' power.
No one in a free nation, no less in a democracy should have to fear for their safety on the basis of anything to do with things out of their control.

hey ! i’m currently looking for some new plots + partners, so i’ve put a list below the cut of some stuff i’m interested in doing. there is also a list of fcs at the very end ! if you would like to do any of these with me, please either shoot me a dm, like this post (and i will message you), or add me on disc/ord ( lizzie#5644 )!!
most of these should work with any pairing !! i’m happy to do f/f, m/f or m/m !
Anything with sirens, but especially a plot inspired by To Kill a Kingdom. Muse A is a siren that loses her abilities and has to kill a notorious siren hunter (aka Muse B) to get them back, so she boards their ship, with the intent of killing them, but shit happens. Probably feelings + a game of cat and mouse.
I am currently in love with the Marauders era of Harry Potter and I’m willing to do almost anything related to that (my favorite characters to write are James Potter, Rita Skeeter and Bellatrix Black, but I’m open to writing anyone + any ship).
With that said, Harry Potter plots are my kryptonite and I am always down to do any hp plot !!
Anything with Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour ( I’ll write either! ). Just cute things, them being married, domestic stuff.
Also anything with James Potter and Lily Evans. ANYTHING.
A Hogwarts professor plot where two professors fall in love. Maybe they are the heads of two different houses, and are always lowkey bickering?
There are so many fun occupations in the hp universe too? Give me some fun plots with dragon keepers, obliviators, hit wizards, mediwitches, potion makers. Again, anything.
A plot where Ares and Aphrodite walk the Earth and they’re both women and in love (dibs on Ares).
A vampire royalty plot, preferably taking place sometime between 1700 and 1900. The royal family have all been turned into vampires and it’s probably a mess. Lots of drama. Other sub plots could include: Muse A as a vampire, Muse B as a vampire hunter. Or maybe Muse A is the prince/princess from another country and is the one that brings vampirism to Muse B’s court.
A pirates plot where Muse A is a princess runaway, who escapes her life at court to become a pirate on Muse B’s ship. She hides her identity, but Muse B probably catches onto her being a total amateur.
A city witches plot but with gangs. Muse A and B belong to rival witch gangs, and should definitively not be friends. Yet, they feel drawn to each other, and eventually end up hooking up. I think just the idea of witch gangs could be so much fun?
Another city witches plot but loosely based around The Magicians where Muse A and B both practice underground magic. Maybe they get in trouble for it? Or maybe one of them is against the use of underground magic and the other one supports it ( and maybe they are roommates )? ANYTHING.
A plot based in the Harry Potter universe where Muse A and B both work in Hogsmeade. Muse A owns a small bakery, while Muse B works as a bartender / barmaid in one of the pubs. They form a habit of meeting after work and discussing their days and lives, and eventually start falling in love. Little do they know that they are on opposing sides in the war (either first or second).
A plot where Muse A is a news anchor / reporter and Muse B is a police detective. Muse A is always hounding Muse B for the latest story and Muse B is lowkey annoyed ( but Muse A is also really cute, so sometimes Muse B will let something slip ). They kinda always butt heads because of their jobs but deep down they really like each other.
A plot where Muse A and Muse B are actors working on the same tv show, where they play the main and most popular couple. On the screen they have insane chemistry, but behind the scenes, they hate each other and can barely stand being in the same room.
A medieval plot where Muse A is a prince/princess of Country A and Muse B is a prince/princess of Country B. It has been a hard couple of years for both countries, but a union between the families would benefit the economy for them both. Unfortunately, Muse A and B know each other quite well, and can’t stand being in the same room at the same time. But they reluctantly agree to get married anyways, for the greater good.
Another medieval plot where Muse A comes from nothing, but has managed to work their way up the social ranks using only their charm and their looks. Meanwhile, Muse B is the bachelor king/queen who hasn’t settled down yet (rumor has it that they sleep around a lot). Muse A’s plan is to get Muse B to fall in love with them, but Muse B - although enticed by Muse A, is easily distracted. After a while, they become friends, but both want different things from their relationship.
A witch plot where Muse A and Muse B are childhood best friends. Once they reach puberty and pick their paths, Muse A chooses light magic, while Muse B chooses dark magic. They break up due to their differences, but 10-something years later, they both show up for the same job interview and get the same job. Now they have to work together and it’s kinda awkward. Possible subplots could include Muse A being very suspicious of Muse B, Muse B thinking Muse A is way too stuck up / righteous, both becoming a little more grey as they spend more time together.
A ‘The Little Mermaid’ inspired plot where Muse A is a marine biologist who’s studying the coral reefs. Muse B is a mermaid who lives very close to the reefs, and is a little too curious for their own good and often observes Muse A while they are working. One day, Muse A is in trouble and Muse B decides to save Muse A, even though it reveals who and what they are. The rest probably goes along with the original plot of The Little Mermaid?
A Gone Girl inspired plot, based on Nick and Amy’s relationship. Just something really toxic, based on their general backstory.
I want more plots based on the ‘villains before they became the villain’ trope (aka villain origin stories)! Maybe two villains from popular fairytales or Disney movies, before they went evil? We could design our characters and give them a fun backstory that is totally AU? This plot bunny is mostly inspired by Sea Witch and Heartless.
A fairy plot. I’m so in love with fae mythology, the fairy courts, their dynamics and their powers. We could do something loosely based on The Cruel Prince or Wicked Lovely. I’m game for anything!
FCS I CURRENTLY WANT TO PLAY / PLAY AGAINST ( I have no preference when it comes to gender + fc & these are in no particular order !! ) :
Emeraude Toubia • Joe Keery • Zoey Deutch • Jenna Coleman • Melissa Benoist • Lucy Liu • Sarah Shahi • Rosamund Pike • Rachel McAdams • Katie Stevens • Candice Patton  • Taron Egerton • Dominic Sherwood • Phoebe Tonkin • Kat McNamara • Natalia Dyer • Melissa Fumero • Matt Daddario • Dave Franco • Diego Luna • Ryan Gosling • Lily James • Virginia Gardner • Gregg Sulkin • Amy Adams • Candice Accola • Avan Jogia • Chris Pine • Chris Evans • Ricky Whittle • Noah Centineo • Amanda Seyfried • Vanessa Morgan • Maddie Petsch • Ryan Destiny.

Note
Welcome to space
What were you expecting?
It's a dangerous place
Thank you for investing
Go there for your rota
There for your orders
Fill up these quotas
We'll bill for your quarters
Report to your foreman
But watch for marauders
'Cause if you get eaten
There's fees for your mourners
Prosperity's there in the care of magnates
In Halcyon heaven awaits!
Did you think it was supposed to
Look like the poster?
It mostly does
Oh, if you'd only read closer
Just ten short years to a new frontier
Snooze as you cruise
And you'll wake up here!
You've been trapped in that ship
For an awful long time
So perhaps you have simply forgot what you signed
Oh, honestly?
Did you not read the colony policy?
That defines you as company property?
That waivers your say in autonomy?
The conglomerate's got you in lock and key
We put the dollar back into idolatry
If you're upset, you can rent an apology
We are a family forged in bureaucracy
No "I" in "team, " but there's "con" in "economy"
Were you expecting adventure?
Were you hoping for fun?
My friend, you're indentured
And pleasure's exempt from your tenure
So venture back down to your slum
That's provided at generous prices
Your worth is determined by your sacrifices
A small term of service when down on the surface
Internment's a freebie that comes with the purchase
We work
To earn the right to work
To earn the right to work
To earn the right to work
To earn the right to work
To earn the right to give
Ourselves the right to buy
Ourselves the right to live
To earn the right to die
Welcome to our little town
Why don't you settle down?
Here, just fill out the paperwork
And you can look around
We're happy as can be
Inside the valley cannery
We live to pack the cans of meat
And not to question where it's found
Until we end up in the ground
Around the corner in the yard
You know, we thought we liked the sound
Of finding glory in the stars
The board has taught us to be proud
Of never reaching very far
So we earn what we're allowed
And give it right back at the bar
The ale to cure what ails ya
Zero Gee Brew, your favourite flavour
So work 'til you bleed, ennobled by labour
Then purchase relief from your local retailer!
If you'd rather drop dead, that's fine
But you know that dropping down dead bears a fine
So you do your job and I'll do mine
I gotta meet a six foot deep bottom line
We make a fortune for the board
By selling boredom door to door
Because it's all that we deserve
And it is all we can afford
The secrets of the universe
And all the worlds to be explored
But our dreams are back on Earth
And now the work is our reward
And you'll be grateful
For seats at the table
Though it dips at one end
And the bench is unstable
You may waste your days
But at least you were able
To pay off your grave
Since we leased you your cradle
Be faithful and pray
We'll repay what you invest
Behave as you slave
For humanity's interest
On account that you're all on account
And we're quickly amounting
Humanity's interest
You'd think that we'd sink
To the brink of rebellion
With markets dependent
On peddling weapons
The architect tells them
The secret to Heaven
Is simply consuming
Whatever we sell them
We work
To earn the right to work
To earn the right to work
To earn the right to work
To earn the right to work
To earn the right to give
Ourselves the right to buy
Ourselves the right to live
To earn the right to die
You should have read the fine print, my friend
Should have read the fine print
You should have read the fine print, my friend
Should have read the fine print
Welcome to our little town
Why don't you settle down?
Here, just fill out the paperwork
And you can look around
We work and then we work
And then we work and then we work
And then we work and then we work
And then we end up in the ground
Welcome to our little town
Why don't you settle down?
Here, just fill out the paperwork
And you can look around
You should have read the fine print, my friend
Should have read the fine print
Here and here and initial here
Welcome to the family!

Do you like City Builder Games where you can design amazing cities, communities and settlements?
These type of games are the perfect way to express yourself and be creative, sometimes without restriction. City management games or general management games on the other hand let you manage everything, whether it’s a city, a business or any kind of system.
It is also very similar to strategy games, but the main difference is that in city builder games or management games your success is not physical survival, but more financial survival.
The main goal is to make money and reach your goals. Most city building simulators have a sandbox mode meaning you can build with an unlimited budget and don’t have to worry about balancing your finances.
These type of games also give you problems to solve, whether it is traffic related or managing your resources, it is always fun to come up with a solution. Build bigger, better and become virtually rich! Here is a list of the best City Builder Games and Management Games you can play!

Until… traffic becomes a problem!
That is one of the main challenges in the game, to find innovative way to solve traffic and expansion problems.
Traffic management, policies, taxation, infrastructure planning, resources, city connections ect. are only a few things you’ll manage during the game.
It also has massive modding capabilities and a big community with a number of awesome DLC content, so customization is virtually unlimited.

ANNO 1800 is a real-time city building game and it’s the latest edition into the series.
The ANNO Series has the ultimate blend between being a city builder and a city management game while you play through some super interesting campaigns.
The setting is focused around the 1800’s of the Industrial Revolution highlighting colonial trade with a touch of Victorian Era style.
You will have to manage many different aspects to conquer ANNO 1800, like production, supply chains, trade routes, political management and keeping your people happy.
You will ultimately decide what kind of ruler you will be.
Will you be an innovator or an exploiter?

Whichever you choose, be ready for an epic journey. Enjoy this city builder in singleplayer, multiplayer and sandbox mode.
ANNO has visited a few different eras, both historical and future, each giving you a rich storyline which will give you hours of playtime.

The main goal of this village building game is to develop a sustaining settlement for your people to survive through the various conditions.
It sounds easy enough right, but the thing is people will die if they are not fed or warm enough in the Winter.
You should order them to build, gather, farm and mine to keep your people alive. Banished has all the seasons where you will face challenges during each. For example, in Spring and Summer you need to grow food and gather wood to build houses and have enough firewood.
During Autumn and Winter, people will die if they are not warmed from fire and starve if they run out of food. The game has a few complex systems to understand and overcome before you can really build a large town, but it’s worth every minute.
If you like a real challenge and want to build your own little settlement, Banished is a great game to play.
It’s time to gather some firewood for the Winter!

It can be quite a hard game at first, but when you get into the phase where you know how to balance everything it can be great.
Tumblr media
In order to keep your people alive, you need to mine resources, set up defenses and do research in order to overcome some of the challenges you may face. One moment the sun can be shining and the next moment a giant sandstorm approaches to blow everything away.
There are also a variety of different aliens that can attack your colony, from plague spores, hovering guardians and cultist airships. You can defend against attacks by building defensive buildings and do research to improve them.
With all that going on, you will also have to deal with and balance the morale of the people in your colony, as they will hold elections and can vote you out if you don’t take care of their needs. These can be things like crime, food supplies, living conditions, social policies and more.
There are also the option to expand your colony into sub-colonies and grow your population. That is a whole other challenge on it’s own.
Aven Colony can be really challenging at times, but offers you the satisfaction when you keep going.
Go save your people and build your settlement on a totally unknown planet.
Buy Aven Colony
8. Life is Feudal: Forest Village
Life is Feudal: Forest Village is extremely similar to Banished I listed earlier, just with a few more advanced features like the management systems and graphical enhancements.
The key is to build your settlement from nothing with a few peasants, by gathering, harvesting, mining and a lot more.
The setting is in the medieval time with a realistic world, famine, disease and harsh winters. The game has a dynamic ecosystem with changing weather and the world you play on is randomly generated which gives you a unique experience for every town you build.
Life is Feudal is a great game to relax and not take everything too serious, so do you have what it takes to build your own medieval settlement?

Chapter 38 - Now I Am Become Death, Gunter of Worlds
Wade is at last faced with what appears to be the final puzzle required to get the coveted Easter Egg. However, he has no idea what to do. Alone in the virtual recreation of Halliday's office, he can't even voice chat with his friends on the outside. The link was seemingly severed by the OASIS automatically once Wade reached this stage of the challenge. Why it was possible to receive tips, tricks and movie lines to help him through the previous sections is a mystery.
Wade spends several minutes trying to turn on every TV, game console and computer in the room but none respond. Finally, he finds one that does power on: the same computer Matthew Broderick's character uses in WarGames. It is password-protected, however. Wade runs through several names, on the brave assumption that Halliday had used the same password convention as the character who designed the supercomputer in the film: naming it after "The person he’d loved most in the world." He tries inputting the names of Halliday himself (not a bad first guess, from what we know), Ogden Morrow and Morrow's deceased wife Kira, for whom Halliday harbored a one-sided obsession. Wade even tries typing in the names of a few of Halliday's childhood pets. None of it works.
It's not until Wade remembers that Halliday only felt comfortable talking to Kira while gaming that he tries inputting her D&D name: Leucosia. This turns out to be the correct password, as every other piece of electronics surrounding Wade immediately powers up after it's entered. I'm going to note here that "Leucosia" is also the name of one of the Sirens from Greek mythology. You know, the woman-bird hybrids who led men to their doom with their sweet voices and songs? The sexual pathology at work here couldn't possibly be more surface-level. Keep that connection in mind for a few paragraphs from now.
With the power on, all doubt as to the next step has been washed from Wade's mind. He scrambles over to the Atari 2600 and starts up the game Adventure. This isn't too much of a reach for people who know the history of the term Easter Egg in the world of video games, as the concept of a hidden feature was popularized by this particular title. By playing through the game in a particular way, the player can enter a room where the sole designer, Warren Robinett, had written his name on the floor. The funny thing is that this original "Egg" was included in Adventure as a way for Robinett to, in some way, get credit for his labor. At the time, Atari didn't allow its programmers to have their names on or in their games out of fear that competitors would lure away their staff. Coveniently, this also made it easier for the company to deny their employees any royalty payments they would've been owed. So it's extremely fitting that Wade finds, in the place of Robinett's name, only an Atari-rendered Easter Egg graphic. As is their way, a billionaire nullified the contribution of a worker yet again.
Immediately after finding the Easter Egg in the Atari game, Wade finds that his OASIS avatar is now holding the Egg as well. He places it in a jeweled chalice nearby and, unceremoniously, wins the Egg Hunt. It turns out that the villains weren't able to compete with Wade's extra life head start and had no further effect on the proceedings.
“You win,” I heard a voice say. I turned and saw that Anorak was standing right behind me. His obsidian black robes seemed to pull most of the sunlight out of the room. “Congratulations,” he said, stretching out his long-fingered hand.
I hesitated, wondering if this was another trick. Or perhaps one final test . . .
“The game is over,” Anorak said, as if he’d read my mind. “It’s time for you to receive your prize.”
Wade takes the hand of Halliday's automated avatar and suddenly, his avatar was dressed in black wizard's robes instead. Along with a seemingly neverending list of abilities and items, Wade gains Halliday's twelve digit fortune. Now a multibillionaire, Wade also has supreme control over everything and everyone in the OASIS. He was already the coolest and most beloved gunter around, now he's got the power to back it up.
Wade is also the only person that can enter the study within Castle Anorak, as it contains a button that can delete the entire OASIS and every bit of data on it forever. E-Halliday says things to Wade like "try to use your powers for good" and "I trust your judgment" but these are only automated lines he would've delivered to anyone who won his contest. Good character and judgment aren't requisite for being good at games and memorizing trivia. Half of the OASIS dying and losing everything they had in the battle a few chapters ago already had troubling economic implications. But the entire planet functions via the OASIS, meaning that pressing this button would crash not only the world's economies but its education systems, governments (remember that we were told that the US's electoral voting flows through this thing) and more.
Of course, Wade displays no interest in the button, which would take from him everything that he had just received. Halliday felt he had to justify its inclusion anyway, via what might be the most preposterous bit of dialogue in the entire book.
“Listen,” he said, adopting a confidential tone. “I need to tell you one last thing before I go. Something I didn’t figure out for myself until it was already too late.” He led me over to the window and motioned out at the landscape stretching out beyond it. “I created the OASIS because I never felt at home in the real world. I didn’t know how to connect with the people there. I was afraid, for all of my life. Right up until I knew it was ending. That was when I realized, as terrifying and painful as reality can be, it’s also the only place where you can find true happiness. Because reality is real. Do you understand?”
“Yes,” I said. “I think I do.”
“Good,” he said, giving me a wink. “Don’t make the same mistake I did. Don’t hide in here forever.”
Hey, you dumb asshole. Your stupid contest created an entire generation of people who do nothing but hide online forever, worshiping movies and video games made decades before they were born. Not to mention that everyone is too broke to want to live in the hellish dystopia that the real world has become. And they only became that way because you, as the richest person around, siphoned off all the profit your all-encompassing network built up with its endless microtransactions. But maybe he's right, everyone should log off and fight the wasteland marauders that wait outside all of the major cities instead.
This also comes across as disingenuous because Halliday only had two barely-functional relationships with other people before he died. One was with his childhood best friend, Ogden Morrow. The other was with Morrow's wife, to the extent that he was in love with her to the point of damaging his only other relationship. We never find out what Kira, a character who died before the start of Wade's story, felt about Halliday putting her up on this pedestal. No one seems interested in her perspective but I can't imagine she would be comfortable with all this, despite naming herself after a Greek man-killer. It's painfully obvious that Cline wanted to cap the story off with a moral about the beauty you can find in living offline but nothing about the rest of the narrative or world he's clumsily built backs it up. The "lesson" is completely flattened under the weight of so many contradictions.
Humbled by these empty platitudes, Wade takes a few minutes to collect himself and then calls up his buddies. They're pretty excited that they're friends with the most powerful person alive, especially after Wade uses his new authority to completely resurrect their deceased avatars. However, he only does this for Aech, Art3mis and Shoto (who delivers yet another "Arigato, Parzival-san" and deep bow in response). I guess the millions of other people whose digital bones are rotting outside the castle are out of luck. To further flex his new powers, Wade kills the remaining Sixer avatars, who were unable to reach the Egg before he did, with a wave of his hand. Art3mis hadn't logged back in to the OASIS to congratulate Wade though. Wade is told that she's waiting in the real world to meet him face to face for the first time. If anything can still outdo that Halliday lecture, it's going to be this unearned romance scene. But that'll have to wait for the last chapter.
Almost as an afterthought before he goes to meet up with his crush, Wade is told to pull up a breaking newsfeed. He sees that Nathan Sorrento, the dreaded leader of the Sixers, has been arrested by federal authorities for the multitude of crimes that the stolen IOI data implicated him in. It was very kind of the FBI to wait until right after the plot was resolved to step in, it would've really sapped the already small amount of dramatic tension if they hadn't. It's also lucky for them that Sorrento didn't win, as he would've brought about Armageddon if the feds had still tried to put the cuffs on. Although, depending on how the last chapter ends, it might've been for the best.
