The last time I saw - Part 2

"You should leave now," I said to my youngest daughter as she sat at a table in the corner of the wedding hall. The exhaustion on her face was visible since she had been running around all day to ensure that her sister’s wedding ceremony went smoothly.

We did not have much time for the wedding preparations because my youngest had gotten into a Canadian program and needed to take its exam which only happens annually in-person. We did not know when she would be coming back if she passes so we held the wedding at the last minute so she could attend it. 

"I'll leave in fifteen minutes," she replied looking at the view in front of her, feeling as if she was a part of it but also distant from it. I understood her emotions since she was about to leave her life in Pakistan and start from scratch on the other side of the world.  

I sat down next to her and held her hand to offer some comfort. I could tell she was wondering what was going on in my mind but didn’t ask. We both said nothing to each other. I wondered if she was still mad at me because she wanted to reject the program she had gotten into, but I made her accept it because I knew this opportunity could change her life. I have researched a lot on how going aboard is beneficial for your child. An article that convinced me to make my decision was “4 reasons why you should send your child to study abroad”.

“How will I live alone? I have never even stayed alone in a nearby city let alone another country! I don’t want to leave dad!”, her words were echoing in my mind. I looked at her and thought if sending her away was the right decision. She was just a 19-year-old kid who now had to leave her family and life, start from the beginning alone in a foreign country and take on the hardships that come with it. 

But then, I saw her sister all grown up and radiant in her red wedding dress (lengha) who became strong enough to overcome life’s challenges after living alone. It reassured me that even though my youngest disagreed with me for making her go, it was the best decision for her to become independent in case something happens to me. While I felt sad about her leaving, I understood that it was my duty as her father to give her every opportunity to succeed and push her to fulfill her potential.  

After a while, my youngest got up and walked up to her sister. She looked exactly like her late mother as she was wearing her old clothes. I followed her until she reached the stage and hugged her sister goodbye.

Watching my daughters embrace each other, I couldn't help but feel emotional - it was as if I saw and was saying goodbye to my babies for the last time. Now, they had transformed into strong, independent women - who I was proud of.  

As they let each other go, I hugged them both tightly, feeling bittersweet. I knew they had so much to look forward to in life and was happy for them. But I also felt a sense of loss – my daughters were now grown up and were no longer the kids who were dependent on me.

FOR PAKISTAN: FROM CREATION TO EXPLOITATION: WHO OWES US AN EXPLANATION?

We are happy to commemorate the 75th independence of Pakistan but do you think is it really an independent country even after so many decades passed by? Pakistan was created on 14th of August 1947 to establish a free Islamic and welfare state for the Muslims. Unfortunately, even after so many years of its independence, it has been exploited by the same Muslims. And still today, no one owes us any kind of explanation.

Iqbal’s dream came true but the Quaid’s struggle went into vain after the Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan was assassinated on October 16, 1951. After which Pakistan had faced major upheavals and was unable to get back on track. The main aim of its creation was to set up an Islamic democracy in which everyone is equal and no one enjoys a privileged position on the basis of his status. This democratic system remains an uninstalled objective of Quaid-e-Azam.

On December 16, 1971, The declaration of separation of East Pakistan from the West by Sheikh Mujibur Rehman, remembered as a Black day in history of Pakistan, rooted the stems of hatred between the east and west dominions. The country continues to face challenging problems including terrorism, poverty, illiteracy, corruption, money laundering and political instability. These problems have now taken the shape of never-ending diseases for which no cure is possible.

Today, political instability in Pakistan has been the most prominent cause for its exploitation which has created a disturbing image of Pakistan globally. After the era of Pervez Musharraf, Nawaz Sharif came into power which had collapsed the economy of the country. Since then, an environment of ebb and flow has been cultivated in the structure of the political system of Pakistan. No political government has ever been held accountable for their downfall. The tenure of 5 years completed, Election campaign begins, purchasing of the votes by illegal means, destroying the democracy, the party wins and the cycle repeats. This is how the leaders are being elected in the so-called democratic state of Pakistan.

 The main aim of every government has been to secure the future of their generations through money laundering, corruption, imposing high taxes, increasing dollar rates, and prices of the subsidies. We as a citizen are so used to get spoil by their hands. A nation can never step on the ladder of prosperity until it is politically balanced. If we never question a leader, we will forever go blind.  Pakistan has been manipulated through the most corrupted hands for decades that it will take years to get back in the right direction showed by its founding leaders.

Currently, Imran Khan has been ousted as Pakistan's prime minister after a vote of no confidence in parliament. But what led to his downfall? Why are we blaming the US for his downfall? As evidence of the plot, Khan waved a letter in a public rally in Islamabad on March 27, claiming the US had delivered a diplomatic warning to Pakistan to remove him as prime minister and to bring a regime change in Pakistan. This shows the vulnerability of Pakistani leaders that the foreign countries dared to intervene in national politics of our country.

We don’t know how the person who have a monthly income of Rs. 50,000, possess the assets worth in millions or billions. We are paying the taxes but the currency is devaluing and the inflation rate is rising. The way these corrupt leaders have looted the wealth of the nation during their terms, sending the economy in the tailspin, heading towards destruction as NAB has amended the law of removing white collar criminals from accountability. They are responsible to owes us an explanation for their actions.

Since its creation, we’ve never witnessed the corrupt leaders being accountable for their corruption and the capability of the judicial system for providing justice through fair means. We may have not seen how Pakistan came into being but we can feel the polluted air we breathe and the blood of the millions embedded in the soil we touched. This was not the Pakistan Iqbal dreamt of and our Quaid struggled for.

From creation of Pakistan, every leader who came and ruled is solely responsible for its exploitation. To put blame on the previous leaders and passing the buck was their only weapon to escape their accountability. This process shall remain dominant for many more decades to come as someone from their generation will rule this country following their footsteps.

In conclusion, to every person spoiling the country’s image, if you can't stand the heat, you'd better get out of the kitchen. We fought for our independence since its creation and still fighting for the same cause. On this day, not only paying the tribute to the leaders of the freedom movement but also realizing the difficulties faced by them. Despite these monumental challenges, Pakistan still managed to fulfill the necessities of its citizens. If we say Pakistan is a democratic country then we all are equally responsible for its development. Because leaders are not born, they are made. Someone from you shall become the future Prime Minister and you will be responsible to owe an explanation to the nation.

Bad News of the Week:

"The security of the Federal Republic of Germany will also be defended in the Hindu Kush," said the then Federal Minister of Defense Peter Stuck of the Social Democratic Party of Germany in 2002 about the upcoming Afghanistan mission of the Bundeswehr. And that is what we then tried to do for many years, like so many other nations. The result is well known. The missions were called "Operation Enduring Freedom" and "Resolute Support." Both failed magnificently.

As I write this, the Afghan government is apparently preparing a "peaceful transfer of power" to the Taliban, whose militias are at the gates of the capital, Kabul. Having taken over most provincial capitals, infrastructure, and border crossings with unexpected speed in recent days. "Conquered" would be inaccurate; after all, most official bodies have fled even faster than the advance has progressed. Just two weeks ago, UN/NATO military bases such as Mazar-i-Sharif and Bagram were controlled by the Western military alliance; after their hasty withdrawal, they are now in the hands of the Taliban. But at least our soldiers took their weapons with them and didn't just leave them behind like the Afghan military itself - "Help yourselves!"

Panic is apparently spreading among the population. Most are either fleeing with their most important belongings or have barricaded themselves in their homes with provisions. Many are afraid of imminent purges and punitive measures because they have worked, for example, as translators or cooks for the foreign powers. The experience of recent years is clear: Since 2003, the Taliban have been waging a terrorist-military campaign against the democratic Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the international troops of the ISAF in Afghanistan, starting in Pakistan. In this campaign, the Taliban are more than twice as likely to carry out targeted attacks against Afghan civilians than against Afghan or international troops. A United Nations report shows that the Taliban were responsible for over 75% of civilian deaths in Afghanistan in 2009 and 2010, for example.

Far more frightening than the warlike actions common to the Taliban with regional warlords, however, is their religious fundamentalist underpinnings, especially toward women. On the one hand, these are erased from public perception, and on the other, they are virtually placed under blanket house arrest. Two examples of the former: Women are to be excluded from all media and all forms of public assembly. Photographing or filming women is strictly forbidden, as are images with female persons in magazines, books and newspapers as well as in stores - and even in one's own home. So having a souvenir photo with your own mother is illegal.

And one's own home is one's prison. Examples of the latter: Women and girls over the age of eight are forbidden to associate with men to whom they are not related. They are not allowed to go out on the street alone or without a burqa. They are not allowed to ride bicycles, take cabs, or even speak in public (!). The windows at home must be painted or taped shut, and they are not allowed to laugh or sing. Women are not allowed to work, attend schools or otherwise educate themselves. The only exception is instruction in the teachings of the Koran. If a woman - as well as without income - cannot afford food, she gets "food aid". Stupidly, however, this may only be received from a male relative. So if a widow does not live with a father, brother or son, she will starve.

So even in the 21st century, there are societies that do not guarantee even the most basic rights of democracy, freedom and equality. And in the case of Afghanistan, the West's two-decade effort, involving billions of dollars and thousands of lives, has effectively achieved nothing. Nothing at all. "Enduring Freedom?" What a bad joke...

Good News of the Week:

The so-called "Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change" (IPCC) is the United Nations body for assessing the science related to climate change. It was founded to provide decision and policy makers worldwide with regular scientific assessments on climate change, its implications and potential future risks, as well as to put forward adaptation and mitigation options - independently, neutrally and objectively. Every few years, the IPCC issues an Assessment Report that summarizes all available data, findings and analyses. Last week it was time again. And the report is - surprise! - a "Code Red for humanity", as the UN calls it.

The contents of the report are dry and unsparing, as it presents only scientific facts and does not moralize. Which does not make the facts any less frightening. Two crucial aspects stand out: man-made climate change is progressing faster than previously feared. And many "points of no return" have already been reached, e.g. regarding the loss of summer ice in the Arctic. As with regard to many other developments, we cannot really predict what the consequences will be. But one thing is certain: they will be negative.

So why does it say "Good News" above these lines? Because we still have a chance. Because it's not too late for the survival of humanity. Cognitive psychologist Christian Stöcker makes a domestic comparison: we come back to the kitchen and find that the fat in the pan has caught fire. We can either react to this by warning the children, grabbing the fire extinguisher and calling the fire department. Or we close the kitchen door like an ostrich, go into the living room to let the TV bring us to more pleasant thoughts and start thinking about which delivery service we will order the alternative dinner from.

So it's our choice. Yes, we have a choice. In our day-to-day actions, in elections, with our priorities. So the federal election here in Germany at the end of September will be a choice of direction. We can stagger on like lemmings toward the abyss. Or we can take an exemplary path in which we, as an industrial nation and a people of "poets and thinkers," demonstrate that economy and ecology are not mutually exclusive. We have the fucking choice - so let's do the right thing dammit!

Personal happy moment of the week:

Last night we chilled out: on a picnic blanket on the shore of nearby Lake Tegernsee. Listened to the crashing waves, the splashing dogs, the playing children, the singing birds. We read the newspaper and nibbled pistachios. An oasis of peace and quiet. So simple and yet so precious.

I couldn't care less...

...that all the favorites lost on the first matchday of the new Bundesliga soccer season. Even "our" FC Bayern München, which has the historic chance to win the German championship ten times in a row (!). I would probably see things differently on the last matchday.

As I write this...

...I'm thinking back to the fact that two years ago we were at the 50th birthday party of a very good friend. In a big, good-humored group. For a whole week. In a luxury cottage in the Scottish Highlands. Feels like from another time. Probably because it was another time. Sigh.

In India there are two days as the National day they are Independence day and republic day. India is the fastest developing country all over the world. In this 73 years of freedom India has done lot of progress in all the fields . In the space field i.e ISRO, In farming ,In business, in transport and much more.

But all this development wouldn’t be possible if our nation was not Independent and all this is possible because of the great leaders and freedom fighters. Lokmanya Tilak, Bhagat singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, Mathma Gandhi, Mangal Pandey, Sukhdev , Rajguru, Subhash Chandra bose and many more freedom fighters sacrificed their life to the India Independent . Many lives were taken in this freedom march . But at last India has given freedom but the India is divided into two parts, India , western India(Pakistan), and eastern India(Bangladesh).  Many more division were done of our great country but because of Sardar Vallabh bhai Patel , it won’t happen we all thankful for him that because of him we are able to be at any state without any kind of security problem. In tribute for him, Statue of Unity has been established in the memory of Sardar Vallabh bhai Patel .

              This is the day of freedom all citizens get nation holiday, this is the day where all the country besides religion and casts celebrates this festivals. People visit various near by castles and enjoy this day with their be loved family . Students go to school not to study but to celebrate this great national festival. Speech, mach pass, various songs (national) , and dressing fashion show in which students gets in the various freedom fighters getup. jhanda vandana is done in various places. At various chows as well as at various nagars zhandawandana is done.  All the people of India celebrate this festival with great joy and happiness. India tricolour batches, various tricolor equipment were wear by the people mostly teenagers. And small children gets a flag of tricolor and balloon of Indian Flag.        

              Zhandavandana is done on the redfort by our Prime mister and just after zhanda Vandana National song is sung by the people . Jana- gan- man is sung by all the people of india . ( Indian national song was sung by Rabindra nath tagore) . After that , All our India shoulders do matchpass in the Redfort with full of josh and confidence and various tanks and ammunations are also joined in the march pass.
