From our 'bridging the gaps' fundraiser, we managed to raise an astonishing amount of 21,000 Indian Rupees. The entire school community decided to use these funds raised for a great cause, which was buying items for the Apahaj Ashram, and Pingla Ghar located in Jalandhar, India, for the second part of the Community Outreach. Diwali was soon coming on the 21st of October, so we all collectively decided that we wanted to put a smile on the resident's of the Ashram (old-age home and orphanage)'s faces. We delivered Diyas (Indian candles), food and winter necessities to each and every single one of the residents. Through our journey, we were met with emotional responses from those who did not even expect their Diwali, the festival of lights to light on that day of October. When we went there, I remember going into a room with elderly women and giving one of them a Diya. She told me 'Bless you child, you will do so good in life for making me happy. Thank you for bringing back Diwali for me' whilst in tears. Ultimately, I also broke down into tears because it was unfortunate where she and even the other residents ended up. Though it was a type of 'home' for them, it would never be their true home, and that's what made me grateful to my home right now. It was an honor helping these people and putting a smile on their face. One thing I learned from this is that kindness should be mandatory for every single person because you never know what they go through. Through my experience, I really enjoyed putting a smile on each and everyone's faces at the Ashram and listening to them, as well as befriending them. 04/05/2023 (first of all, she called ME beautiful. not indirectly or anything like that, it was 100% clear and intended. then i asked her to meet because i started missing her a lot after she called me that. we MET. hate her neighbours, unki wajah se she doesn't feel comfortable to hug me which is understandable because desi but still hurts like a BITCH. i love her, i really do. and i got sabzi shopping lessons from her but ig she forgot that i literally cook proper meals and know everything achese but damn yrr i enjoyed her lessons🥺🥺🥺❤️)

18/05/2023 (so we met, again. fun fact, we both were planning to meet and texted each other at the same time 😂. i was flirting A LOT today and i know it. she even told me ki bacche h baju main not good but why would that stop me? bacche h toh dekh ke sikhne do kaise krte h😂 she was against this but it's fine i love her and she's the only one i flirt with ❤️)

25/05/2023 ( i think may is OUR month, all good things till date have happened in may except the birth of my sister. so we met again on my request to meet her before leaving for a work trip. i have her old bracelet with me, and it's been sooooo nice to spend so much time with her recently 🥺🥺. i pray i start living with her soon. 🥺🥰)

01/06/2023 ( im dating a vampire ❤️😂. a really hot gorgeous kind sweet vampire. we met, spent an hour on my rooftop under the moon, did some ✨things✨, hugged A LOT and it was perfect. she's my drug and im addicted to her. i hope i never do anything to lose her and be the guy she deserves, i don't care if it labels me as possesive or territorial, i need her and i am never going to share her with anyone. get yourself a personal vampire or not i don't care but stay away from mine. she really is my reason to live 🥺❤️)

14/06/2023 ( didn't spend much time but got to pick up and drop her home on scooty for the first time late at night i.e. 12:30am ish, it was pretty chaotic for some reasons but i got to spend time with her so that's nice ☺️❤️ can't wait for the day i get introduced in her family as THE guy and they realise and accept that i will love her and keep her safe from every bullshit just the way they intend to do it, maybe I'll love her a little more than them because why not 😂, praying it does happen and not because of some sneaky shit but in a genuine way 🤞🏻🥺🧿)

22/06/2023 (as planned, we met again today 🤭. spent some good hours with each other, i ended up looking like a guy with dark red spots on neck and shoulders 😂. i said those three words to her and told her she doesn't have to say it back or anything, she just has to know and accept it. she did change a bit after i said it, in a REALLY good way...... we said few things and really loved spending time like this with each other. i hope we get more close after this ❤️🥺)

24/06/2024 (so we were out for a thing and grocery shopping for her home and at a place the lady on counter asked for her full name for the receipt. the lady spelled it wrong and SHE got annoyed and said sab surname galat likh dete h mera and i was holding the urge to say "you can change yours to mine it's easier to spell" 🥺🫣❤️)

12/07/2023 (just a glimpse of her, only one second while she was going to office in auto. i pray i get to see her again, hopefully today 🥺❤️) (Edit: we did meet🥰)

25/07/2023 (we met again, for 2 reasons. one of them being me wanting HER to be the first person who touches my new bike and second is kind of a secret. i noticed today that she blushes A LOT whenever i flirt with her in person, don't know about text but it's fine. she likes it too😂. i might have gone little out of line while flirting and implied that im going to marry her and only her one day but idontthink she was able ro figure that out😂 but it was nice. ALSOOOOOOOOO we walked in rain under the same umbrella ♥️🥺)

31/08/2023 ( we met, she planned and initiated it, gave her a bracelet i made for her, she gave me some chocolates, i love my cute vampire 🥰🥺❤️)

13/09/2023 (met her after 2 whole weeks, that's 14 days!!!! felt soooo good to see her in person after so long❤️🥺. she gave me a flower shaped chocolate, we walked around, i was carrying her bag so my perfume could stay on it when she reaches home😶‍🌫️. and i got 2 hugs!❤️)

20/09/2023 (we met because it was my birthday week, and we were supposed to spend a day out but didn't for some unfortunate reasons. she really feels like home, being around is the most satisfying and comforting thing for me🥰❤️. i said few things out loud that i was scared of, she didn't have a negative reaction and it was good, felt like a burden off of my chest 😂. got to hug her nicely 🥺❤️)

25/09/2023 (so i planned something lame and didn't leave my house since my birthday last week and i was finally able to excute it successfully 😂. i wanted her to be the first person i meet outside family, was not really sure about it plus she didn't know but i was able to pull it off. we met for few minutes, it was late so we just went for a ride around town before i drop her home. got 2 hugs and it felt nice ❤️❤️)

05/10/2023 (yknow those hugs where you just bury your face in other person's chest and forget everything else exists? the only sound you hear is them talking to you and their heart beating. i got to experience that for a good few minutes and i swear to god i feel like i can achieve anything as long as i get to hug her like that, i won't need therapy, no medication nothing. everything will automatically be 100x better. SHE really makes me want to live another day and not give up on myself 🥲🥺♥️)

06/10/2023 (got to meet her 2 days in a row, but today was kind of a cute hangout. we sat and talked for like an hour maybe, i plucked a flower to put it in her hair and clicked photos of her. and i kid you not when i say she is prettiest girl I've ever seen in my life🥺♥️. one that im going to make her my wife.)

25/10/2023 (yknow the most difficult part about existing at the same time as her? not being able to see her regularly. i mean i am really grateful that i get to see her more than how it was 2 years back but i miss her A LOT and when i see her it's so obvious for her to figure out i missed her. today was one of those times. and i got to see a private fashion show♥️♥️)

08/11/2023 (safe to say she likes surprise visits 🤭, also gave her some sweets because she was not having a good day, and i might meet her tomo properly instead of just 15-20 mins♥️)

09/11/2023 (so we did meet and will meet again tomorrow, for the third time in this week🥺. it was sooooooooooooooo good. she was mocking my sore throat voice and it was cute ♥️)

18/11/2023 (meeting her just after coming back home from a trip feels so fucking good and peaceful 🥺❤️. we were sitting and hanging out near my house and some of my family members saw us, which kind of freaked me out but she was calm about it😂. it was nice, i fed her some food because i knew damn well she didn't eat properly during her day out and i was right 🙃. it feels complete in so many ways to just be around her🤧❤️)

Kartik Purnima 2022 Vrat Date, Puja Timing And Significance

Kartik Purnima

Kartika is the eighth lunar month in the Hindu calendar. The Purnima that occurs during the month of Kartika is known as Kartika purnima. Kartika Purnima celebrations begin on the day of Prabodhini Ekadashi, also known as Devuthanna Ekadashi. Since Ekadashi is the eleventh day and Purnima is the fifteenth day of the Kartika month, Kartika Purnima is celebrated for five days. Kartika Purnima is very important as many rituals and festivals conclude on this day. Kartika Purnima is also known as Tripuri Purnima. Here are the five-day festivals of kartika purnima which we celebrate:

Tulsi Vivah

Bhishma Panchaka

Vaikunth Chaturdashi

Dev Diwali

Tulsi Vivah: usually begins on the day of Prabodhini Ekadashi and ends on the day of Kartika Purnima. According to Hindu scriptures, Tulsi Vivah can be celebrated on any possible day between Ekadashi and Kartika Purnima, in the Hindu month of Kartik. Most of the people perform the marriage ritual of Goddess Tulsi with Lord Shaligram, who represents Lord Vishnu, on tripuri Purnima’s day.

Fast Bhishma Panchaka: starts with Prabodhini Ekadashi and ends on Kartik Purnima Day. According to Vaishnava culture, the Bhishma Panchak fast during the last five days of the month of Kartik is of great importance. He is also called as Vishnu Panchaka.

Vaikunth Chaturdashi: Puja is performed one day before Kartika Purnima. Followers of Lord Vishnu fast on this day. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Vishnu used to worship Lord Shiva on the day of Vaikunth Chaturdashi, during Shukla Paksha, by offering him a thousand lotus flowers. Shiva temples on this day offer a special puja performance where Lord Vishnu is worshiped along with Lord Shiva. On this day, devotees observe Kartik Purnima Ganga Snan by bathing in the holy river Ganges at Manikarnika Ghat in Varanasi before sunrise.

Dev Diwali: known as Diwali of Gods, is celebrated on Kartika Purnima day. Ancient Hindu scriptures describe that the demon Tripurasura was killed by Lord Shiva on this day, which is why Kartik Purnima’s is also known as Tripurari Purnima in Marathi. The myths describe that the gods were overjoyed at the death of Tripurasura and thus celebrated tripuri purnima as Diwali, lighting earthen days in all the temples and on the bank of the Ganges river.

Significance of Kartik Purnima

According to Hindu mythology, this Kartik Poornima day has religious and spiritual significance. Performing Kartik Snan and worshiping Lord Vishnu on this day is believed to bless devotees with immense wealth. tripuri Purnima is one of the most blessed days to perform religious ceremonies, and auspicious ceremonies performed on this day are believed to bring joy and happiness. It is also believed that performing Kartik Snan during the month of Kartik is equivalent to performing 100 Ashvamegha Yagya.

Kartika Purnima’s Vrat:

Ganga Snan, Lighting Lamps (Deep Daan), Hom (Aahuti), Yagya and deity worship during Kartik Purnima are of great importance. The rituals that are performed on this day are the following:

Get up in the morning and vows for fast. Take a Bath in a sacred river, lake or pond.

One must worship the six creations named Shiva, Santati, Preity, Anusuya and Kashama during  moonrise.

By fasting and donating an ox on the night of Kartik Purnima, one reaches Shiv Pada.

Donating a cow or elephant, horse, chariot (ratha) or ghee on this day rewards the person by increasing the  possessions.

Donating sheep reduces the harmful effects of the yugas by aligning the planets.

From tripuri  Purnima onwards, if a person fasts for every Purnima and sings devotional songs (Jagrans) during that night, all your wishes will come true.

Who fasts on Purnima must perform havan and feed the needy and the poor on this day.

One should end the fast by taking a bath (Kartik Snan) in the river Yamuna and then lighting lamps (Deep Daan) while worshiping Radha-Krishna.

Books I Read The Rest of the Year

November

1. Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse (Five Stars)

I didn’t want this book to end. I didn’t. The characters were so three dimensional (seriously, by the second paragraph I knew I was gonna love Xiala), the worldbuilding absolutely stunning, and the political intrigue was WOO. I’m glad there’s a sequel and I’m buying that ish the second it comes out. Loved it.

2. Firekeeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley (Four Stars)

It was interesting to see the fake dating trope be used in an honest to God thriller but I was definitely invested in finding out who was behind the meth distribution. I did wish I had remembered the warnings because when it got to That Scene, I literally stared at the book for a full minute going, “Did I just read what I think I read?” and knowing the sad statistics concerning indigenous women, I knew right away why that scene existed...it just really hurt to see. Usually those kinds of scenes are deal breakers for me reading and watching wise. But again, I knew why it was put in there and it is something people should be more aware of.

3. Perfect World Vol 3 by Rie Aruga (Four Stars)

I’m still invested despite 1) that cliffhanger and 2) getting spoiled on how long that break up is gonna last and knowing they do eventually get married and have kids. I’ll still keep reading when I’m in the mood.

4. Miracles and Menorahs by Stacey Agdern (Three Stars)

I was trying to read more diverse works concerning the holidays and I managed to read this during Hanukkah. It was cute. It read like a Hallmark movie, which means it did its job given the genre. I did notice several typos that lowkey made me wince. But ignoring that, again, it was a cute read.

5. A Holly Jolly Diwali by Sonya Lalli (Three Stars)

Diwali took place in November this year so I was...late on reading this. I had no idea. XD Still, I marched on and was happy to read a story surrounding that holiday. The romance was okay. Homegirl did jump the gun in the climax and I was like, “Girl, calm. DOWN.”

6. Huda F Are You by Huda Fahmy (Four Stars)

Fahmy’s first two comics were hilarious and this one had some funny moments but because it’s a coming of age comic, it was a bit more serious.

7. The Holiday Switch by Tif Marcelo (Three Stars)

I finished two hours before midnight. It was nice. The main character’s love for stories was plain as day and the banter was fun. When it turned into romance, it was cute but not something I would gush over either. I’m still happy for the experience though.

Goals for 2022

- The last two years I made it my goal to read 50 books and, while I think I’m going to be a bit more chill about reading this year, I’m still gonna leave it at 50.

- Try to read more non-fiction. I read two in 2021, which was one more than 2020. Maybe make it to at least three this year? XD I have several non-fiction I’m still genuinely interested in getting to someday.

- I won my bet against my mom but I do want to try to tackle more of the books I already own and go to the library if I have a burning need to read a book I don’t own. I make no promises.

So far it’s always been family-first for Salman Khan.  Why else would he allow his brother Arbaaz to direct a project as prestigious as Dabangg 2?

Salman’s other brother Sohail too has had his opportunities like Auzaar, Hello Brother and Pyar Kiya Toh Darna Kya. Sohail has been planning a fourth directorial with Salman for two years now.  The mammoth project titled Sher Khan is said to be  Tarzan-inspired jungle adventure featuring Salman in a never-before action avatar with plenty of animals for company.

The film was to kickstart in 2020. But has now been  pushed forward to 2022.

A close friend of Salman spills the beans. “It’s really very simple. Bhai is not completely happy with the script. Sohail has gone back to the storyboard at  least three times. But Bhai is still not satisfied. Salman wants Sher Khan to be a game changer in the action genre.”

Apparently Sohail is on the same page as Salman on this matter.

Says the source, “Sohail is okay with re-working the Sher Khan script as many times as required. He too wants Sher Khan to be a landmark in the action genre and in Salman’s career. Salman was  supposed to start Sher Khan this year. But has now allotted those dates to his friend Sajid Nadiadwala for Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali.”

Incidentally the word ‘Sher’ doesn’t seem too  favourable for our movies. Prior to Salman’s Sher Khan, Sanjay Dutt worked in a film of that title which got shelved midway.
