anon on ep 6 daniel here again! read your post and i 100% agree that rockstar lestat fits much better in the 80s imho… i just can’t seem to wrap my head around him being a rockstar in 2022 when rock isn’t even the main genre of music relevant in pop culture 🥲 i do think that maybe 80s rockstar lestat and louis never actually quite made up, otherwise louis’ behaviour and sudden “memory loss” (*coughs* Armand) just doesn’t make much sense and doesn’t really fit the story. i’m suspecting, like you also said, some books have already happened and some haven’t and they’re kind of switching up the tl a bit (maybe we’re in merrick or the PL era?) and i’m thinking david (or someone being a mix of characters) might make an appearance soon and kind of push things along (also i highkey think present day lestat will make a cameo at the end of s2 to make way for s3 to happen organically)… long ask, sorry! i just don’t talk about theories much and i get too excited whenever i do 😂

I think Akasha and Amel will be combined, because it would be repetitive, threat-wise (and I think Amel's (slow) awakening was hinted at in episode 5 and 6 already). And if Akasha hasn't happened yet (or not like that)... then maybe Lestat tried to find Louis in the 80s but somehow didn't manage OR they didn't quite make up as you said, and it could easily lead to today's situation, where Louis maybe even returned to Armand... like in the books, when they don't quite manage to align for years on end (despite visiting each other and trying to regularly^^).

I do think we're in a mixup of PL and Merrick era, plus the threat and an extended Devil's Minion. I mean, there's so much going on in that show, so many arcs already set up... Claudia's background changed and set in parallel to Rose's, Fareed, Marius, twins, Those Who Must Be Kept, Nicki... the list goes on (it's mind-boggling how much they managed to put into those 6 episodes, honestly).

Ahhhhh I cannot wait :))) It'll be glorious.

Klaine Advent 2022: Chemistry Sucks (16/17)

Summary: Nerd!Kurt/ Popular!Blaine high school AU - Kurt joins Glee club in his junior year to please his dad, though he’d rather just hide out in the library until he can graduate and get out of Lima.

Turns out he’s not the only gay kid in town. Too bad the other out gay kid is cocky and popular senior, Blaine Anderson. Sure of himself, gets all the solos, things served to him on a platter. Kurt finds him shallow and infuriating.

Blaine finds Kurt square and irritating.

Yet at a party one night, they promise to sleep together if they don’t have other opportunities by the end of the year. A dare. Naturally competitive spirits.

Chemistry Sucks (Day 16: Recast and Give)

Blaine first sees Kurt walking down the McKinley hallway, flanked by two new glee club members on either side, apparently enraptured by the tour he's giving them. Blaine's early for meeting him after the homecoming game, which Kurt unsurprisingly chose to skip.

"Speak of the devil," Kurt spots him. "It's none other than our former fearless leader, Blaine Anderson, who has come back to ensure we're off to a strong start this year."

Blaine approaches them. "Hi Kurt," He pauses. Kurt looks even better than he remembers. He's always been put together, scarves and broaches and too tight jeans that are perfect. But he has an air of command about him now, like he knows who he is.

"Hi Blaine." They smile at each other while the new kids on either side just stare silently. "Madison, Mason, this is Blaine. Our key to the big nationals win."

"Oh we know who you are and it's so nice to meet you," Mason shakes Blaine's hand enthusiastically. "We read the showchoir blogs - recasting a straight girl-guy duet with two guys. Your duet was groundbreaking."

"Novel," Madison adds.

"Fresh," Mason finishes.

"Kurt was our secret weapon, actually. You're lucky to have him." Blaine smiles quietly at him and the air feels heavy. At least to him.

"We're sure you guys have lots of catching up to do," Madison says after too long a moment. "So we're just gonna-"

"Yeah, okay," Kurt nods.

And then they're alone in the McKinley hallway. "So do you wanna-"

"Yeah, okay," Blaine agrees.

"I haven't said what yet."

"Whatever you want, wherever you want. I just want to see you."

They end up at the Lima Bean, at their usual round table in the corner, sipping a mocha and a medium drip, like nothing has changed.

"So, tell me," Blaine doesn't even know where to start.

"Tell you what?"

"Oh I don't know. I get a text one day that you're going on a third date and being an understudy and then a phone call a month later about breaking up and I mean, what happened?"

"The usual chorus understudy was sick, and they asked me," Kurt says. He's being coy.

"You were with Matteo." Blaine starts. He wants to be a good friend. A best friend. He's trying.

"I was," Kurt nods and looks down at his mocha and then back up. "And now I'm not." Blaine nods but doesn't say anything. "It was good, I think. I mean, he was not super happy that I ended it but we had a good time. We'd usually go out once or twice a week to a movie or bowling or-"

"Bowling? You?"

"I know. Obviously his idea. Anyways, we'd hang out," Kurt pauses meaningfully. "But the school year is busy and like I said when I called you, I just didn't have the time." Blaine nods, waiting. "Because I wasn't feeling enough." Kurt bites his lip. "I guess I'm still just a silly romantic, and the truth is I already know a better kisser." Blaine almost chokes on his coffee. He has to clear his throat. "Sorry, I shouldn't-"

"No, no. It's fine. Coffee just went down wrong." He takes another sip.

"Your turn," Kurt says quickly. "So how is living la vie boheme?"

"Hardly," Blaine dismisses but knows he has to give more than that. "I do like dancing at all those gay clubs though."

"Of course."

"And I went home with someone exactly twice." He sees Kurt take a gulp of his mocha.

"Same guy?"

"No. Jeff and Parker. Jeff and I just made out. He was kind of boring to be honest. Parker, we did a bit more but I didn't want to call him after. It was fun, but," Blaine knocks Kurt leg under the table deliberately.

"But." Kurt repeats.

"I also knew a better kisser," Blaine doesn't stop himself. Neither did Kurt. The pause is too pregnant and he is still going back to New York in two days.

"Can't all have legendary chemistry," Kurt smiles quietly.

Blaine shakes his head. "Guess not. So tell me about how you became the lead of the Glee club," It's a total non-sequitur but Blaine switches topics deliberately out of the danger zone. Chemistry sucks.

They close the Lima Bean down talking about the glee club, the new kids, the way to win nationals, what Kurt will like in New York, whether he should also apply to NYADA or stick with NYU. When Blaine walks Kurt to his car they hug for what feels to Blaine like five minutes straight. "It was so good to see you, Kurt." He doesn't want to let go.

...

It's almost midnight and Blaine is staring up at his ceiling in his old room in his parents house, unable to sleep. The problem is that he really does not want to see Jeff or Parker or Jeff-types or Parker-types again. There is only one thing he wants. He picks up his phone and texts.

B: I missed you.

It only takes Kurt a minute to respond.

K: I missed you too.

B: I wanted to talk to you today but I was too afraid.

K: Of what?

B: Screwing up our friendship.

K: And now?

B: Do you wanna meet somewhere and hang out while we can? The 24 hour diner near Scandals?

K: No.

B: No?

K: No. I wanna go to your house.

Blaine closes his eyes, relief and excitement washing over him.

B: Okay.

Sooo my fanfiction piracy post from 2022 is still getting hundreds of notes per day, and though most of the notifications are buried, I see enough of the reblog tags go by to have noticed a couple things:

A lot of people are really, really bad about checking post timestamps (if you don't know how to turn them on, here's a tutorial), or clicking through the links to see what the current situation is, or even reading the entire post before jumping in with unsolicited advice. More than a year later, I'm still getting messages suggesting I contact various organizations for legal assistance in getting my pirated work removed -- even though the whole point of the original post was to help other affected authors get their stolen works removed, because I had already filed my own DMCA complaint and knew how to do it. (Happy one-year anniversary to my pinned masterpost that answers so many of those questions/comments in more detail.)

A lot of people are really, really bad at thinking critically about how to protect themselves and their work. One of the most common reblog tags/comments I see is along the lines of, "Good thing I locked my work on AO3 so only people with accounts can read it!" -- as though someone capable of writing a program to scrape AO3, download hundreds of stories and their associated metadata, drop them into an ebook template, generate franchise-specific covers, and then automatically reupload all of that to their KDP account for resale somehow wouldn't be able to figure out how to sign up for a free AO3 account. (I addressed this back in 2022, too.)

Sigh.

But really, I just wish I had a nickel for every time someone has helpfully informed me that the cover image Plush Books slapped on my stolen fic is from Devil May Cry 5. Um, thanks, but I... I know that, actually? Because the story that was stolen is Devil May Cry 5 fanfiction? And I wrote it? 😅

Warning: nose blowing, coughing, HARSH SNEEZING

I woke up with the a completely congested nose, I tried a steam shower, blowing and nothing worked, it was driving my mad, so I brought out the big guns.....The devil product Vicks.....and.....OH MY GOD!!! I legit could not talk i was sneezing too much.

summery: At a conference for the local heroes Gro//und Z//ero seems to disagree to a strong scent, in an attempt to be quiet a unexpected thing happens, and someone records it and it is gaining views by the second! how will he react?

#10 - Look at This from Helluva Boss

I enjoy Helluva Boss. It’s crass but there are definitely worse shows out there. And I have no real connection to Fizzarolli’s voice actor, who was apparently Beetlejuice for the Broadway Play. Still, between this song and Two Minute Notice he has proven to be my favorite singer among the cast. Hopefully things turns out well for this series as well as Hazbin Hotel.

#9 - The Beyonder from Marvel's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur

Talk about a Glow up! The Beyonder was pretty meh despite being so powerful in the comics. But Moon Girl really showed just how entertaining he could be with the right people behind it. Laurence Fishburne does a great job with him and honestly the Music Choices throughout the show was great! I got the soundtrack too! So here’s hoping Season 2 continues to bring banger after banger.

#8 - Rocket Queen by Team Shachi Featuring MCU

So I found out this year Capcom did a crossover with some K-Pop Band and they were going to take down the game based on it this year. Never noticing this, I decided to listen to the song and I enjoyed it. It has the energy I really enjoy in songs and even though I don’t know the lyrics it was well performed that I could enjoy it regardless. I also love the Sax part in the song and the music video.

#7 - Red Flags by Tom Cardy Featuring Montaigne

This year, I’ve seen a lot of memes based off one part of this song. The original singers even did an Uno Reverse version of that part so people can have more options. But I wanted to hear the original to see why this was memable. And MAN, I feel like people overlooked the HUMAN CENTIPEDE part to focus on the awkward date part. The song is hilarious and I am glad I gave it a shot to listen to the full version. The Meme is definitely underselling this song.

#6 - Nerdy Prudes Must Die from Nerdy Prudes Must Die

I feel bad for putting Starkid on twice but man, this year showed off their best stuff. Their newest part in the Hatchetfield Series was so fun and the best song in my book is the title song: Nerdy Prudes Must Die. I also like Hatchet Town. But man, the main song is so fun for a villain. And the whole “who will pray for me” bit was definitely selling how much of a threat he is.

#5 - Priceless from VHS Christmas Carol Live

I instantly fell in love with the VHS Christmas Carol Live when I saw it early this year. It is so good, not only did I get the soundtrack I also downloaded the Live Performance so I can listen to it all on my i-Pod. My favorite song from the entire thing is Christmas Day, but it is pretty much combining the best songs from the show into one. So I’m picking Priceless because that part really gets me on Christmas Day. I recommend everyone to watch it.

#4 - Shatter by Code Orange

While he appeared with this song in 2022, I never got the chance to hear the full version until this year. And I love every minute of what I listened to. I was listening to this song so much even before Bray Wyatt’s sad passing. He was taken from us too soon. I hope whoever is close to him is alright. Still, this is a great song and while I don’t think it is great for a tribute to him, it is great to listen to and remember the great stories he given us during the time he was alive.

#3 - Happy Sounds by Kyle Allen Music

I’m not much of a gamer. I’m more interested in the stories of games than playing them. So My Friendly Neighborhood was definitely a story I was interested in since I was curious how they would do this story compared to many other games. To my surprise, as Game Theory suggested, it's not a story about corrupted souls trapped in puppets, it's about the puppets trying to save a world already corrupted. This song captures that story in 3 minutes and I love it for that. I would recommend this song and the game in general.

#2 - Song of the Dead by @kana-boon

I will talk about my experience more in the One Shot next month, but this song is the reason I saw Zom 100. The song is full of life and energy and it's everything I want in a song. And if you want an English version, I think Dangle did a great job transferring it to English. Regardless, this was a song that was instrumental into me trying a series I would have probably passed by. Definitely give it a watch.

So how did I find out about this song now of all times? Well, I noticed Evo was actually streaming this year and decided to give it a watch. It was before the Guilty Gear Strive and during the countdown I hear people singing the chorus of this song. That got me interested in hearing the full version and I don’t regret it. The Lyrics may sound random but man, it really gives you the energy to sing it out loud when you do hear it. I get teared up a little bit too. So thank you Evo for letting me get the Smell of the Game.

star trek 2009 is like. okay. what if this man went back in time and changed the course of these mens’ lives forever. and thus changed who they are as people but. but. but they still, fundamentally, are the same characters at their core. and even though their lives were changed forever and their histories altered their destinies are still intertwined. Their lives are meant to be intersected by the other, they are still going to be defined by the other. yes, all this changed, yes all this is different, but there are universal constants and these people being together as crew and family is one of them
