in regards to evaporating into thin air; that is such a perfect way to describe how i felt while reading it too ;; i mentioned this in my silly lil post but i was literally smiling from ear to ear reading his letter, it's just so nice hearing he's up to his usual mundanities yet still experience something eventful in a way :') "it was so incredibly ridiculous i had to laugh" just the image of him laughing. like. genuinely laughing has me going so soft and melt into a puddle

reader, in this vision of this specific scenario, wouldn't be affiliated with the akademiya. sure, visits are quite common for you, but it's only for a certain vahumana scholar... he's been the talk of the town for a decent while, not only for his eccentric personality; but also for possessing an insight vastly different from your typical scholar. some students had the gall to examine that harsh exterior falter ever so slightly when you arrive to mainly check up on him with a meal prepared for him, heard saying such things like “you didn't have to trouble yourself.” under his breath only for you to hear all the while he's taking what you had for him that day in his hands, scurrying away in the wild whilst treating himself to the delicacy he's grown to take a liking to ( code sentence for: loves immensely ).

of course, noticing your close bond with vahumana's one and only hat guy, it prompted a few brave souls from the akademiya to approach you and inquire about your lover. some questions were a little on the nose, and you didn't hesitate to turn those questions down for both his sake and yours. mainly his.

overtime, kuni would start hearing your name echo in the halls. sometimes in the house of daena while he occupied himself with reading to pass time. more popular for your connection to him rather than something else... of course, occasional praises being sung about you would enter his earshot, but that is precisely what they should've settled on first. regardless, the first time they ( some of the students ) interrupted his peace; jumping out of a bush with a cake that, in his gaze, was sickeningly sweet as he so described. sharp eyes from one of the students was enough to alert the others that perhaps the cake they got him wasn't something he particularly liked... so, they seek who for guidance? you, of course.

encounter after another when the students spot you at puspa cafe on your own, your desire to see your lover being unceremoniously interrupted by a student or two having a few things to ask you. you admit, you found a bit of amusement in how literally everyone in the akademiya knew little to none about him. and truthfully, you felt like some divinely favored being to be able to call him your boyfriend, but you digress. his dessert preferences was something you didn't expect to be asked a day prior to his birthday, but the question wasn't unwelcome. you'd dawn on a small smile and explain to the students that he isn't so fond of sweets. sure, he'll have dessert, but they're always bitter. your excitement was unfortunately not kept at bay when the group of vahumana students brought up why they were asking. and you, naturally, tagged along with them to surprise him.

all you did was provide directions, the path he always takes to his favorite spot that he rarely ever visits unless with you tagging along or something would weigh down his mind. and for the fun of it, you made sure to remain hidden as the group jumped out of the bush with a cake that this time, was one exactly to his liking. that same laughter that erupted from him last time, as the students told you, escaped his lips again. this one seemed more... genuine, in comparison to the last one which the students explained as "feeling like they were getting spit in the face."

from his perspective, as his eyes were fixed on the matcha flavored cake presented to him, he could just about feel your presence lurking here. you're the one who's been indulging them in their meaningless questions that were only answered for the sake of knowing more, you're watching him right now, aren't you? of course you are, not when he was able to make out the little hum that was almost taken away along with the breeze and the accomplished squeal from one of the students.

just how much did you indulge them? not much he figured, but you didn't shy away from explaining his dessert preferences. typical from you, yet that laughter that escaped his lips, the slightly lighthearted snark thrown at the students standing in front of him with his favorite cake, and the acknowledgement of your presence here that slowly began to dissipate... you have some explaining to do.

How could I have known it was going to end like this?

James and I had been dating for a few months now. I knew about him being part of Team Rocket, I just told him to be careful. We continued on with our relationship and all was well.

Recently though, James has been exhibiting strange behavior. It started out small. From him grabbing my hand and clenching to the biggest hints, I noticed them all.

James has put on some nice clothes and a hat to hide his hair and we made our way to the beach. My Pokémon and I were dying to play in the water and James offered, albeit forcefully, that he would come along. I allowed him to and we were on our way.

Usually, a few guys would stare at me or try to hit on me but I brushed them off, James walking away with me. But on the way to the beach, something happened.

Around the corner, a group of college boys were leaned against the wall. As I walked past, James at me side, one of them slapped my ass. I whipped around to yell at them when I witnessed something. James' hand shot out and grabbed a boy's sleeve, yanking him to his face. He whispered something in his ear that I couldn't hear, but based on the boy's face, it wasn't pretty.

James let go of his sleeve, took my arm in his, and skipped(!) away, slightly humming.

I shrugged it off as him defending me, but little did I know that it was way worse.

At the beach, I set my stuff down and took off my sundress. I went to put sunscreen on when James snatched the bottle from my hand.

"Hey!" I whined. He just gave me a glare that had me withering in my spot. He practically flipped me over and started (angrily) applying sunscreen to my body.

By this point I was pissed and worried about my boyfriend.

I thought I would ignore it and we continued with our beach day.

To the next dayyyyy

This morning, James agreed to take me to meet his coworkers. I heard from him that they were a girl called Jessie and a talking Meowth.

James was silent the whole way, only speaking once we got to the clearing.

"Guys, she's here." He called out. Rustling was heard in the bushes before his partners toppled out. Springing up, Jessie grabbed my right hand and vigorously shook it while Meowth kissed my left.

I didn't know what was going on, all I could register was the snarl and growl James was giving Meowth. Once both parties had let go, I introduced myself.

"As you have probably heard, I'm (Y/N) (L/N), James' girlfriend. It's so nice to finally meet you guys. Say, can you tell me what you guys get up to? James never tells me."

Jessie's eyes lit up and she began babbling away. Meowth just snickered, dragged his hand (paw?) across his throat before seating himself in my lap. James let out a low rumble but settled down once I pulled him down next to me.

As Jessie and I were conversing, Meowth began to get a little handsy. His paws slithered to my thigh, eliciting a slight yelp from both James and I. His paw then moved its way to my stomach, going a little higher than it should.

I stayed silent during this ordeal, too focused on my boyfriend giving his partner a death glare. Meowth looked directly at him before clasping his paw around my breast. I gasped and yanked his paw off, throwing him away from me. I was about to do more when I heard James get up.

Everything seemed to go in slow motion. Meowth laughing, James slowly getting up and reaching to his pocket. He pulled a steak knife out of his pocket and lunged for the bipedal cat Pokémon.

Time came to a halt as I watched James plunge the knife into Meowth's stomach, blood pouring out as he pulled the knife out. Meowth fell the the floor, gasping, as Jessie and I watched.

I snapped out of whatever trance I was in and tried to take the knife away while Jessie went to help Meowth. I managed to pull the knife from my boyfriend's hands and threw it at away.

He gave a strangled cry as he tried to grab it but I tackled him to the ground, holding him there.

My heart was beating so hard I could hear it in my ears, thumping wildly. James stopped thrashing and I believed he had calmed down, so I released him. I'm just that split second, he shoved me away, picked up the knife, and made a break for Jessie and Meowth.

My mouth fell open and I could only watch in horror as James tackles Jessie, putting his hand over her mouth as he ran the knife over her neck, slitting her throat and leaving her to bleed out if she wasn't already dead.

He stalked towards Meowth before picking his limp body up and stabbing his chest area, grinning when there was no response.

James turned towards me, throwing the knife away before rushing forward and cradling me in his arms. He covered my body in blood, I was shaking like a leaf.

"Hush now, babygirl. Everything is all better. I got rid of those perverts and now we can be happy. I can't trust anyone to leave you alone, the only option is to keep you for myself. Come now darling, I have a place we can stay." His voice said, husky and with insanity woven in.

"I-I d-didn't what? No! Leave me alone! You monster! I'm not going anywhere with you!" I screamed, hoping anyone would come save me.

James gave a dark chuckle before he grinned a sinister grin. Pressing a kiss to my forehead, all I heard before it went black was him saying, "Sorry for this, love."

Spoooooky timeskip!

My eyes fluttered open, cringing at how sensitive I was to the light. As soon as my eyes adjusted, I took in my surroundings. I could tell I wasn't in my house, but it was an exact replica. I shuddered as I thought about this. How long has James been replicating my house and how long had he planned to kidnap me?!

My head snapped up as I heard the door creak. What an ominous sound, and the true horror walked in after. James pouted at me, noticing my baffled face before speaking in a condescending tone.

"Hi there (Y/N). I'm sorry about knocking you out but that was the only way you would come. I need to shelter you from the world, you're too precious to be hurt by its evil. Don't worry, I'll protect you."

My mind went through a flurry of words to say but all that came out was a squeak.

"Glad to see we're on the same terms. Now, stay with me forever." He urged.

Hopelessness filled me as I watched my lover, saw the barricaded doors with extensive padlocks, boarded windows, and myself.

I heaved a heavy sigh before accepting my fate, giving a shaky smile to my protector.

"Don't worry (Y/N), I promise to protect you till my last dying breath. Because that's what lovers do, they keep their love safe from everything, EvErYtHiNg!"
