Happy Aro Awareness Week!!!

I don't talk about my sexuality much but I am demiromantic!! This means I don't feel romantic love a lot of the time, only when I'm extremely close to someone!

Even if I'm demiromantic I still enjoy things like cuddling and hugging and holding hands [kissing is off the table] -but only platonically,, I think you're allowed to do things like that platonically and I just love platonic love in general!!!!! And btw people don't have to be aro AND ace. People can be just aro, just ace, just demisexual, and just demiromantic. People can feel romantic feelings but not sexual feelings and people can feel sexual feelings but not romantic feelings. You don't always have to be both!

I've been thinking about my sexuality a lot, especially since valentine's day was very recent. I always felt weird cause I never developed crushes on people and I've always been averse to having a romantic relationship with someone.I knew for a fact that I loved men and women because I still found them attractive and... had thoughts... but if I stopped to think about whether I would have a relationship with them and kiss and stuff the answer would probably be no. It's funny because when my mom would tell me I couldn't have a partner until I finished Uni I was so relieved. As a kid, I always thought it was normal to have crushes on people and I thought it was weird that I never had them so I would pick people to have a crush on despite not feeling anything for them. I thought I was just loveless... until I fell in love with one of my best friends in primary school. It happened gradually and slowly but the feelings only got stronger the more I knew them [I never made a move on them lmao] This only confused me more cause like... am I loveless or not?? I don't get it? I remember finding the term asexual but I wasn't sure if that was me. Then I found aromantic and thought I was getting closer but not on the mark. And then I found demisexual I remember seeing the definition and was like... holy shit is there an aromantic version of this I need to know- and low and behold... I found it, I finally found a term to label myself. It felt so good! I finally figured myself out! And there are others like me! it was so cool! It felt so cool to finally know that the things I was feeling was not just a me thing and was something completely normal! I felt so accomplished. I felt so awesome.

Anyways enough of my life story I just wanted to put that out because I've been thinking about my sexuality a ton and I wanted to share it I hope you enjoyed it if you bothered to read it and I hope you have a good day!!

I think he's the first character I've ever found who's canonically aromantic ^^ That's especially cool to me because the book series he's from is for kids! They don't address his identity super heavily, but I hope some people out there can connect with him. He's such a fun character too, it's been a while since I read the series but I really liked him :)

Sorry this is a tad late, I wasn’t actually aware that this was this weekend until Sunday. But!!! I just wanted to do my part, so here we go! I don’t really like to define my sexuality (don’t really fit quite right anywhere) but the closest I can get is asexual! Which is quite different from Aromantic!

What I’m trying to say is I’m here for all my Aro viewers! Have a lovely evening!

For Asexual Awareness Week! I kinda forgot SB was acearo (or aroace, however you wanna say it) for a minute until I saw a queerplatonic DanBob picture and I was like "oh yeah" so I figured I'd draw this and make sure it was done before the week was over. I personally don't see Danny as ace, but I thought I'd throw him in as a character supporting Spongebob and plus I just wanna do more DanBob stuff let's be honest here lmao, I needed to do more stuff with them anyways so this was perfect XD

1 - i consider myself to be pretty solidly aroace (aromantic and asexual)!

2 - i tried out the label quoiromantic for quite a while, but honestly it just... didn’t fit. i’m a person that likes labels and the vibes of “idk what the difference between romantic and platonic attraction are” didn’t really... fit, after a while, for me, personally!!

8 - oh BOY oh BOY!!! aro headcanons!! one aro headcanon i’ve seen quite a bit that i think is so cool is the headcanon that Dipper and Wendy from Gravity Falls are both aromantic! yes, i am very much aware that Dipper has a crush on Wendy and that Wendy dated people, but crushes are... weird, aroallo people exist and are, of course, amazing, experimenting and having one’s identity wibble and wobble around is also 100% a thing, and also also, let me have this please i love this hc so much.

9 - honestly it depends on the day. sometimes, i’m romance-favorable and read a bunch of cute romantic fics on ao3, and other days i filter out every category other than “gen” and i also filter out any and all ships that i can. generally, though, i’m more romance-indifferent than anything!!

13 - i’m just gonna drop the link to this lovely article once again! (i have been Searching for one of the posts i mentioned to a wonderful anon asker and i was not successful lol, rip)

17 - honestly, it just... it just gets exhausting seeing this idea pushed and pushed and pushed, that you need romance to be happy, that friendships are just a stepping stone towards a romance, that ultimately, romantic love is going to conquer all, that eventually, people just have to get a partner. amatanormativity is so pervasive in society that a few off-handed comments can make me feel weird about myself and my identity for a while, that’s not fun.

18 - :D figuring out that i’m aromantic was a trip and a half, but it cleared up so many things for me. crushes, for one! knowing and understanding that crushes are real but knowing that i don’t have to actually get one is a relief, having a crush sounds exhausting i don’t want one lol.

the community is also just... so, so wonderful. i posted a lil’ thing about aroallo people and it has 23 notes???? like! !!!!! that is The Most notes a thing of mine has ever gotten and the responses were all so nice. it’s also just really nice being able to even have a community, to see so many people commiserating about amatanormativity and having mutual, “Wait, This Is REAL?” moments i adore every aro person on this hellsite that makes content and shares it with the world.

Edit: Years later, I have no idea why I put a child on the list. Just ignore the poor choices of my young self. I’m not assigning any sexual orientations to my child characters anymore!

William (twin brother of Elona btw) is aromantic. He does enjoy sex and has one night stands ocassionally but he’s not interested in relationships.

Remo is just… not interested in people? Pfff. The only type of physical contact you’ll get from him is a hand shake.

Liah isn’t fond of sex, she likes to show her affection by other physical contact like cuddling, hugging and holding hands.

Crescere isn’t into sex either but it took him quite some time to figure that out. He used to force himself to be intimate with women in the past. A few years after his son Nevio was born, he figured that he didn’t like sex actually. But if he wants to use someone for his benefits or wants something from them, he will get at least a little touchy with them if necessary. He finds teasing people quite amusing.

Amelia is veery uncomfortable even talking about this topic. Many would say that it’s just because of her beliefs in god but really she’s just super uncomfortable when the topic of sex is brought up. She just kind of ignores the fact that that’s what some people do.
