it's november 5th, i'm feeling edgy, and this was actually the most insane scene this show ever pulled and let me tell you WHY

this is a cw show. supernatural started with flashy, tacky scenes with even tackier sound affects and, at times, the tackiest variety of scenes you could dream of. the cw is nothing if not full of melodramatic showiness on display at every opportunity. they produced riverdale ffs.

but this scene. there is no crazy sound affect. there is no overwhelming score in the back. watching this scene, the only sounds to be heard are the buzzing of dean's phone and his quiet sobs. there are no distractions, you are just there to bear witness to a man sitting helpless with grief.

you might say that they chose to keep editing minimalistic to emphasize the fact that the entire world is now void of life at the end of this episode, but there is still a crazy amount of focus placed on dean specifically here.

jack and sam have just discovered that yes, really, everyone on earth is gone, and they are seen to acquire that knowledge in one "despairing" silence, but dean's despair is entirely separated from the larger picture. this is immediately after he lost cas, he doesn't even know what jack and sam know in this moment. he even purposefully throws his phone away as they try to reach him. dean's despair is entirely stemmed from cas being taken away from him, from finally seeing what he can have and not even having a moment to think to take it. the final shot you see is dean on the floor, the final sounds you hear are his cries. the way they chose the sequence of this episode shows the audience that the entire world was lost, but dean's entire world was lost already on that bunker floor.

When i imagine dean proposing to cas it's not a spectacle. It's a quiet affair

Its on a random thursday morning, dean woke up first and he looks to his side and sees cas, hair all ruffled and mouth slightly apart, and thats when he knew that he wants this fucker for the rest of his life

He took a ring from his finger and gently puts it on cas's ring finger, and gives his knuckles light kiss

Cas wakes up half an hour later, hair still ruffled a lil grumpy that he woke up alone, and makes his way down the bunker straight to the kitchen where he knew dean will be, and he was right, dean's busy making up a storm, pancakes, hashbrowns, fried onions, grilled mushrooms, tomatoes and plenty of fried bacon,

When dean finally notices cas he gives the softest look that cas has ever seen, it makes him feel giddy and unsure so looks down and has a soft smile of his own, he finally sits down, dean gives over a plate and when cas cuts down on the pancakes and that's when he finally notices the ring on his finger, he brushes the ring from with his thumb and looks up at dean who just has such a shy expression so cas gets up and gives dean a kiss which lingers on a bit longer than expected,

Dean pushes cas away in playful way with an eyeroll and tells cas to eat his breakfast before it get's too cold
