I want to talk about the happily ever after route for a second. I want to talk hows it's actually about the narrator. I want to talk about how smitten and the princess directly parallel the relationship between the narrator and LQ.

Smitten as the shadow does what he does out of love for the princess- a misguided sort of love. I'd argue the narrator feels the same kind of love for LQ. A love that traps, that cages. He thinks he knows whats best for LQ- he "rewards" him with something endless and meaningless in "the good ending". "happily after ever" is a VERY similar title, and in it we are also trapped in the cabin by someone who thinks he knows what we want, and that something is something endless, and meaningless- plates refilling, games resetting. It's awful. it's torture, the narrator admits this when he watches the events unfold, it's one of the only times we see him show such abject... I mean, it's hard to describe the emotion. He's a little bit distraught, a little horrified, a little disgusted. he sounds broken, really, like the full weight of his actions has just been shown to him.

These lines stand out to me, too. This chapter really puts him in a new light, even if it's just for a moment, before the echo of him fades away. God, the Pristine Cut is a masterpiece. I've had so much fun with it so far, its really fucking great.

It was SO hard to choose a favorite Princess, but with the new update I think that the Happily Ever After Damsel is my favorite. I cried, man, she hit even harder than the Thorn for me, and that’s saying something. She’s one of the Princesses where I kind of wish she hadn’t been taken away by the Shifting Mound; she deserves the world :,(

I just finished replaying the Happily Ever After route, because it was all too much to take in the first time through. I'm still assembling my thoughts for a more detailed breakdown, but in the meantime I want to draw attention to the roast bird on the dinner table.

Count the wings; that's not any kind of normal avian. That's a roasted miniature Long Quiet. The Smitten is NOT happy with you.

When I saw Happy, I saw the resemblance of her and Abby's sketch of a hypothetical "Queen" version of Princess. I think this got used for her design with minor changes. I dunno if that means anything more than just a "what-if" sketch making it into the final game, just still as Princess.

you know i've been watching pristine cut playthroughs and. i'm really surprised that everyone i've seen so far only said something along the lines of "omg wifey" or "she made dinner for us??" or just not react at all to the "dinner's ready" line in happily ever after. when i heard that line immediate red flags went off in my brain

My contribution to Draw the Princess: Pristine Cut Edition!! This route was absolutely devastating, but so well executed. It was the first new route from the update that I got, and man... that was brutal.

I'm super happy with all the new content from the update, hehe.

My personal headcanon is that Smitten designed the whole HeA route area, while Long Quite was regenerating (come on you can’t say that this guy is not the reason princess murals and tapestry are there)

Also he cooks all the meals in the matter of seconds

Just to be clear, I’m not trying to glorify Smitten’s behaviour in the HeA route, this is just my silly meme comics
