Hanush of Leipa: Ha! That was such a great idea to send Hans and Henry to hunting trip together! They become such a good friends.
Hanush of Leipa: But if that didn't work...
Hanush of Leipa: I would send them to another trip with accommodation in inn with only last room left and with only ONE BED!
Hanush of Leipa: That would teach them!

Throwback to when I accidentally wrote the Suchdol Smooch TM two whole wretched years before KCD2 released...
(No real spoilers under the cut and no warnings necessary. This is KCD1-era fic drafted a long time ago and rotting in my WIP folder. Still, thought you Hansry fanatics might enjoy it now, so am letting it see the light of day. Maybe the rest of the fic will see the light of day too, but it is not this day!)
Hans lunges up and slams the door shut again—hard—ripping the ring handle out of Henry’s fingers, stopping him. He leaves the heel of his palm stamped on the heavy wood and his long arm is locked like a lance.
He looks sternly at him, bright-eyed and unhappy, impossible to lie to.
He says, “Are you still my man?”
Henry knows his answer—what it is and what it should be. He wishes often he had more to offer the world than who he is and what he loves.
But he doesn’t. Henry scrapes all his little parts and his chicken guts and his dreams of every color together and hammers them into something like a smile.
“Still your blacksmith, at least,” he says.
Hans kisses him. Just so and Henry forgets he’s not supposed to. He forgets everything. The only thing he knows is Hans’s fingernails fishhooked under his jaw until he is snagged and he’ll never get out. The kiss tastes like a sore throat, sticky with pink wine and some kind of sweet bread; it reminds him of coming inside from the snow.
They are apart. Hans tears in a ragged breath, eyes wet with hunger for air; Henry kisses him again. He seeks out the shape of Hans’s teeth, the sharp ones in the front and the one that’s twisted at a funny angle in the back, as Hans’s fingers dig uncomfortably deep into the fleshy tenderness below his ears. And he can’t tell if it’s that damned perfume or the eye medicine or something else, but Henry thinks of flowers now. He thinks of a rose he accidentally stepped on in the High Castle garden, of a warm night when they were crouched together inside a snarled bush row, hiding from Father Milosh, who had come to pray over the poppies. The sweet smell of its dying was undercut by Hans’s thin sweat after a long day chasing roebucks in the summer sun, and it smelled like all the happiness Henry had left in the world.
For a few fraught seconds, they are each other’s. Until a bell clangs outside, shuddering down the cliff and over the millhouse, and Henry all of a sudden remembers the other things, too. His fists sink into the back of the fine brocade and he pulls Hans away, unsealing them with a loud and embarrassing noise.
“I didn’t mean to do that,” he stammers. Hans looks blindsided by the loss.
“No, no. Don’t.” He paws for Henry’s arms, throat tight, frantic to think of a way to convince him not to leave. “Don’t say anything. Come back.”
“I shouldn’t have.”
“No,” Hans insists, chasing the thread unravelling between them. He pulls Henry closer and replaces his hands and tries to kiss him again, but each time, Henry seems to melt away. “It’s all right. Come here. Like you were. Come back, please.”
“It’s not. You’re wild now, that’s why, but it won’t be all right. You don’t know what you mean.”
“Oh, fuck you, then. Fucking go on and—I don’t know. Break your own damned head open. Never speak to me again, I don’t care. I’ll hate you if you talk to me like that.”
“Hanush told me—”
“I don’t care, I DON’T care, I don’t fucking care.”
Hans doesn’t explain what he doesn’t care about or what he does. And Henry supposes that, after it all—after God or Sigismund or Holy Whomever put fire to the whole storybook of his life and broke him—he cannot do anything else but let himself be broken.
He grabs for his beloved—who is still, no matter the way they are told things must be, his beloved, at least so long as he loves him. He crashes upon Hans as if he has caught a jagged rock in a very cold and brackish sea, and he cannot let slip, not if he wants to live.
And perhaps Henry has never really had a say in whether he lives or dies. He still does not understand how swiftly everything in a good life can spoil; or how happiness tends to tumble over a ledge and smash before you even know to call it happiness; or how it is possible to be as completely battered as he has been, body and soul, and survive. Hans holds him so tight he can't feel anything else, even though his eye’s still black and his leg’s still twisted and his heart is still hurt by how long no one’s loved it.
And Henry really oughtn’t let him. But no one has held him in so long, he can’t help it. He hides his face in Hans’s shoulder and guiltily lets himself be comforted and hopes he doesn’t cry.
And he thinks that perhaps Radzig is right about the world, in his own stifled way. Perhaps they—and Hans, and Sir Peter, and everyone—are nothing more than carven dice meant to be shaken and tossed out by God, to see who will land and who won’t. Perhaps the Lord did not really set Hans Capon upon Henry to kick his soul back to life and save it. Maybe God’s design is chaos. Maybe none of it means a thing.
But if that’s so—if divinity is just joy and disaster scattered wildly about—then no one is righter about life than Hans is. No one knows better that fortune is just courage, unshackled by whatever future some God or uncle wants for you. No one knows better that sometimes, you just have to do something bold.
And there is no one left in God’s creation Henry loves more.

and i will always, always, be defending the "plot-holes" that are not actually plot-holes at all. i've seen people on facebook complain so many times about the ending of the game - about the siege of talmberg to be more exact.
"just attack it", "just take it down", "why doesn't divish just do it", "ohh his wife he can't even fuck! nobody gives a damn", "henry doesn't even really care for radzig at this point" etc.
and i have to go back to that one solitary thing this game literally cannot exist without: love. it's the main aspect, it's the pillars the story stands on, it's everything.
medieval movies and books like to picture the old times ala skyrim: "my son was very young when he died. but he did so while doing his duty. he fell for skyrim! he fell for the empire! i do not mourn for i am proud!"
"oh, i loved my father more than anything. but he is gone now. that is life."
it is. but. hear me out. people back then - were actually just like people now. we break down when we lose someone we adore, cherish, love, protect. no matter how stoic we may be, we don't take it lightly, do we?
so, if you think about it, is it a plot-hole, when divish refuses to attack his castle because
it's his home and he loves it
his wife is in there
his friend is also in there?
robard would not attack if it were divish in there. radzig would not attack if it were henry in there. hans would not attack if it were hanush in there. istvan would not attack if it were erik in there. captain bernard would not attack if it were hans in there.
it all comes back to love. and wanting people you care about safe.
martin running back to certain death because his wife is in the village when the cumans attack.
both parents worrying about nothing but their beloved son even while they are being brutally murdered.
everyone on talmberg willing to lock henry up just to keep him away from skalitz (for reasons yet unknown).
theresa making a last stand for someone just as lost as her.
the understanding he's met with when henry comes and admits his failure to radzig, the fact that he went against direct order. (nothing, absolutely nothing else but radzig being in debt to martin, or radzig being someone close to henry, could explain the understanding, the acceptance, and the outcome of the whole situation. how do you think henry - who is just a young man, not a hero, not a dragonborn, not a chosen one - would get away with all this?)
henry backed out of the night raid on talmberg because hans was wounded and wouldn't survive long enough for the mission to succeed.
hans (in one of the outcomes) carried him out on his back, saving his fat ass. no time for glory, no time for saving the hostages when it's suddenly your best friend who is on the ground and bleeding out. he might have succeeded with the mission. yet he didn't hesitate when suddenly it was him who was put in the shoes of those who just wanted to keep their loved ones safe. it was stephanie for divish (he approved the raid). it was radzig for henry (he was the one who went first and most willingly). and it was henry for hans (who immediately backed out on henry's behalf). all those actions were based on love.
would you attack talmberg, knowing there was someone you loved? someone you wanted to know better, someone you wanted to learn how to love, someone who could have been much closer if he only tried? someone you only just met?
the whole story starts with love, continues with love, ends with love. it is everywhere you look and you don't even have to romance anyone to see it, to feel it. it is in the npcs' lives, it's the motivation behind so many actions. it's in henry's decisions. in your decisions.
because, don't you just love this game?

Remembering later into the first game when, if you see Radzig (who’s usually in the same room with Hanush) in Rattay, he’ll say something like “Oh, Henry’s come to see us!” I’ve always thought that was cute 😭. He’s so happy to see Henry doing well.
#radzig is … a complicated man#but it’s nice to see evidence that he really does care about Henry#Len text#kcd#kingdom come deliverance

My impressions of the gameplay showcase and more
Beware of SPOILERS
First of all, I want to say that I got more out of the showcase than I expected. I really liked the gameplay. At first, it was a little weird looking at Henry. I don't know, something about the mouth animation bothered me, but then I got used to it and stopped paying attention to it. The rest of the characters looked good to me right away.
Secondly, the press footage revealed the beginning of the game. And I'm okay with that. I really enjoyed seeing Henry and Hans again, even at such a dangerous moment.
Third, Henry is a puppy.
It's like WH made Henry look younger since the first trailer.
I like how Hans stops Henry from rushing into an unequal battle.
And yes, Hanush and Radzig. You both were out of your minds to send them with this letter, which will not protect them at all. Or maybe even the opposite. Is this a negative influence of Radzig?
And it's so sweet how Henry quickly realizes that everything is going to hell and comes to Hans' aid.
Then the story about Henry being saved by Hans, and then vice versa, Henry saving Hans - it confused me a little :D It will be hard to wait
What else can I say? The graphics are beautiful. Everything feels like good old KCD, but better.
And yes, this character is funny as hell. Apparently he will be accompanying us in the game for some time. And I have definitely seen him before ;)
