Another thing I forgot to mention is the fact that Clarice, as a character, is supposed to sort of parallel Lecter in a way (and that's what makes her work as a great foil)

She fears him, yes, but also respects him - and its mutual between them. He also seems to be one of the few characters who see her as an equal.

Both characters are undervalued by others -Starling in her professional capacity as a woman in a male-dominated field and Hannjbal by academics who think they're smarter than he is, or can pull the wool over on him in some way

Like the scheme in the Silence film to get info out of Lecter in exchange for a new cell and more privileges that Lecter himself actually orchestrates as a means of escape

Without having Hannibal in the Clarice series, it robs them of these interactions and makes it impossible to develop or expand upon these ideas further

Abigail is barely almost 18 in the show and both Hannjbal and Will see themselves as her father and the fics in ao3 make me feel disgusted.
