Once the realization had hit that you would be studying engineering at your dream university, your biggest fear hadn’t been the fact that you would need to move to another city without any of your close friends or family members, but the roommate you might have ended up with in the dorm where no one could choose whom they lived with during their first semester. You had heard too many horrendous stories about self-centered people to have faith in the system, but to your surprise, despite her unapologetic personality, Jamie was everything you wished a random person you had to share your personal space with could have been.
Just like you, she liked keeping her surroundings neat in spite of feeling at home in chaos; she never distracted you when you had an assignment to work on, but she was the first one to drag you out of your shared room when your laziness started to isolate you from the rest of the world. She was more than a student whom you could comfortably live with: Jamie was your emotional support system, your friend, and a sister who stayed up with you when you couldn’t sleep and ordered soup for you when you were sick because she was as hopeless in the kitchen as you were at choosing from more than one item on the menu at a coffee shop or a restaurant where you weren’t a regular.
It had taken only two weeks for you to meet the girl’s closest friends and knowing them for almost half a year by then, it shouldn’t have taken you aback when a week before Jamie’s birthday, you had been added to group chat called: “PARTY PEOPLE 🥳️🎉SHUT UP CHO SEUNGYOUN 👎👎👎” where they begged you to help them organize a surprise party for the girl.
For obvious reasons, you were wary of letting them hold it at your dorm room, because even though it was spacious with your own bathroom and it was summer break, which meant you had more freedom and there were less people to complain about the noise, you didn’t want to get Jamie and yourself expelled or anything. That would have been easily the worst birthday present you could have gotten her. Therefore, your initial answer was a confident no - until Seungyoun sent you a bunch of pleading emojis. You see, you were a weak person and his tear-filled eyes were your limit.
It wasn’t that no student had ever organized a dorm party in the history of SNU. In fact, you and Jamie had attended the RA’s birthday party on the second floor in May, which had been the most legendary party you had ever been at - with cocktails and a blue haired dude dancing on a chair -, but you still had to bribe your own RA to let you use the communal kitchen on Friday and promise to clean the mess by the time he woke up the following morning. Which, in hindsight, was a small price for the wide smile on your friend’s face. Jamie rushed home from the gym - thinking you had sprained your ankle - for a bunch of chaotic idiots singing her Happy Birthday with poorly decorated cupcakes and a store-bought cake in their hands.
As Seungyoun and Jay had been both determined to give a structure to the first hours of the party, there were games you could play in your room: games one could play in pairs, groups, or individually, so no one would have felt left out. You won a round of Twister, drank two cans of beer while losing in beer pong on your desk, and wished both to leave and stay in the room when during truth or dare, you had to watch Seungyoun grind on Hangyul’s thighs for a mainstream song from Camilla Cabello. It was chaos - but you loved every minute of it.
Since Jamie knew about your crush on her best friend, you kinda hoped she would dare you to kiss him or confess your feelings for him once you had more than enough alcohol in your system, but she was a considerate friend, so the only dare you got was a somersault that gave you nausea. God bless Baek Yerim for asking you to accompany her to the front gates, where the pizza delivery guy was apparently waiting for you to grab your order, because the ahjussi behind the reception desk didn’t let him enter the building.
The fresh air helped with your stomach and cleared your mind a little, so you stayed there for a little longer, until one loose tee, your favorite denim shorts, and a pair of flip flops weren’t enough to keep you warm.
By the time you got back to your floor, people were eating everywhere: on your bed, on the floor, in the communal kitchen. Searching for food, you stole a slice of pepperoni pizza from Sungjoo’s plate, then sat on your friend’s desk with your legs pulled up, giddy like a happy kindergartener.
You watched as most people were either chilling for the music or cuddling on any available surface, including your bed, then let out a surprised yelp when Jamie grabbed your wrist and pulled you into the kitchen.
‘What’s going on?’ You asked, unable to comprehend the situation.
There were five glasses of smoothie on the kitchen counter, their color either green or brown, nonetheless suspicious-looking. You furrowed your eyebrows when the girl pushed you on an empty chair.
‘We’ll rate these. There’s no way I’m suffering alone,’ she explained, soon giving you more detail like how the boys were fighting about which one of them was more boyfriend material, hence who was the most stylish, the most handsome, the best dancer, and the best cook. You also got to know the sole rule of the evaluation: the contest was anonymous, which meant the glass with the least amount of juice in it belonged to the winner.
Honestly, it didn’t sound too horrible at first. After all, if the smoothie you were drinking was disgusting, you could put the glass back on the counter and grab the next one. However, once Jamie choked on her third drink and the guys turned around to see what was happening, you noticed Seongyoun’s pouty reaction from the corner of your eyes, and you knew you were doomed. There was no way your heart could have taken it if he lost.
‘Don’t peek, you fuckers,’ Jamie scolded between two coughs, sending daggers in everyone’s way before she shoved the almost full glass in your hands.
You gulped, the strong smell of spices tickling your nostrils. You tried to distract your mind as you lifted it to your lips, wondering whether unreasonable drama leads who jumped in front of arrows instead of pulling their lovers away from harm’s way experienced the same brain rot you did when you took the first sip, the next, and the one right after. You lost every right to clown them when the empty glass touched the counter. The butterflies in your tummy were chewing on your organs, ready to leave through your mouth.
It took you everything to stay in the kitchen until Jamie announced the winner, but then you rushed back to your room and tore the bathroom’s door open to empty your stomach until the unpleasant, pressing feeling fully disappeared.
You were heaving with your dominant hand in your mouth when someone walked inside the room and kneeled on your right. However, you were too grateful for the momentary break to care about the humiliation.
‘Are you okay?’
Until you recognized Seungyoun’s worried voice.
You immediately reached out to flush the toilet, but you lost your balance as soon as your hand slipped on the toilet seat. The only reason you didn’t fall head first into your own vomit was your crush holding you still by your shoulders. Eyes wide like saucers, you smiled at him with crimson cheeks before you clumsily pulled away.
You wanted to cry when you had to lean above the toilet seat again, heaving with your hand on your stomach, and you might have actually shed a few tears when Seungyoun fixed your messy ponytail, then started to stroke your back gently.
‘How much of that did you drink?’ He asked quietly as though he was scared you would have sent him away if he had spoken any louder. You wiped your lips into the back of your hand and turned towards him to be able to read his face.
‘Not much…’ you started, but quickly bit back the rest of your lie when he raised a brow. It was obvious that he didn’t believe you, so you let out a defeated sigh. ‘Almost all of it.’
A part of you was convinced that the silence that enveloped you two couldn’t have been as awkward as it felt. Otherwise, Seungyoun wouldn’t have smiled at you so brightly. But still, you would have killed for some chewing gum or the opportunity to brush your teeth.
‘You’re so stupid,’ he scolded you, his facial expressions soft and loving. He slid his hand from your back to the top of your head and patted it gingerly once, twice, three times. The gesture was both heart-warming and annoying: mostly, because you had no idea whether this meant he looked at you like one looked at their little sister. You really hoped he didn’t.
‘And you’re terrible at the kitchen,’ you retorted with a scoff, the words falling from your lips with practiced ease. Bickering with Seungyoun was one of your favorite things since he had convinced you that rock music was more than hairy men showing off their bass guitar skills and let you listen to his own snippets in his infamous studio even Jamie couldn’t have entered without an excellent reason.
You wished your actions reminded him of the good times, too, and diverted his attention from your current state.
‘Well, I almost won the competition,’ the boy said, bragging about his second place as if his achievement hadn’t been the main cause of your suffering.
You narrowed your eyes to observe his face: the wrinkles around his crescent eyes, the slope of his nose, his wide albeit apologetic smile… half the time, you couldn’t tell what he was thinking, and this occasion wasn’t an exception, either, but his happiness tugged the corner of your mouth upwards. Leather pants or sweatpants with beanies, happiness was your favorite look on him.
You couldn’t have put your finger on why you started to laugh, but when Seungyoun joined in with his deeper chuckles, you were unable to stop. You laughed until your tears ran down your crimson cheeks and you had to throw up again, but he stayed. He didn’t leave your side, just kept stroking your back and told you it was okay, you should have gotten it all out.
‘Dude! Did you finally man up and confess?’ A drunk Sungjoo tore the bathroom’s door open, giggling at the sight of you and his friend sitting on the cold tiles. You spat in the toilet to get rid of the sour taste in your mouth. ‘Agr, you chose the cheesy version? Damn, I can’t believe she’s throwing up,’ the older boy snickered as he pointed at you like you were a sight everyone should have paid attention to.
You groaned, then made an attempt at flushing the toilet, this time, successfully.
‘Shut up!’ You heard Seungyoun say before one of them closed the door and the chill music from the other side quietened down.
Sleepy and exhausted from all that heaving, you laid your arms on the toilet seat and your red face on your arms. You stared at your crush in confusion, which coaxed a couple of awkward giggles out of him.
You wondered whether you had heard Sungjoo right or your imagination started to play tricks on you already. You couldn’t have been that drunk, right?
Seungyoun reached out for the toilet paper and tore a small piece off the roll so that he could wipe the vomit off your mouth. You pouted, but let him do as he pleased.
‘I’ll tell you in the morning,’ he promised, and you found yourself nodding while the boy took your cold hands in his and pulled you up from the floor.
That night you fell asleep with a bowl in your hands, in Jamie’s bed, with your crush hugging you from behind. You had a terrible headache the following morning, but if anyone had asked you whether drinking that horrendous smoothie had been worth it, you would have drunk it all over again to hear Seungyoun admit: he liked you, too.
the end.

x1 as video game party members
[ listed in order of how soon you can acquire them ]
Yohan
<< You must've hit your head pretty hard going downstream. Name's Yohan. >>
story related
romance-able npc (friendly personality)
your first party member, guaranteed acquisition
all-rounder
achievement: no more // unlocks all base skills
main weapon: close-range // secondary weapon: long-range
your first friend at the post and mostly the reason you're alive. he picked you up when a scouting team found you in the water and insisted on saving you, said you deserved a chance at life, even if you did bear the tattoo of the rebel alliance. he doesn't know your story but he thinks you'll make a great asset to the post if you ever regain your memory.
<< We make a pretty good team, chief. >>
Wooseok
<< Big talk for someone who's already been my captive, but sure. Whatever you say. You can call me Wooseok. >>
romance-able npc (stand-off-ish personality)
difficulty level: ⭐⭐⭐
close-range marksman
achievement: red moon // unlocks advanced handgun skills + 50% damage increase with handguns
main weapon: close-range // secondary weapon: melee
the leader of a stand-alone post in the woods, referred to as eclipse, way out past the river and virtually untouched by everything, including the rebel alliance. he captures you and your party members when you make your way there to ask for reinforcements, threatening to have you killed as a warning to anyone else who comes near. once you manage to get on his good side he's willing to let you live in exchange for a few favors. and he'll think about helping you out when you're done.
<< I forgot how much fun this is. >>
Minhee & Hyeongjun
<< I'm Minhee. I make things go boom as a hobby. >>
<< Well, you're not getting anywhere fast in something like that. Might be able to give you a hand though. Hyeongjun. >>
difficulty level: ⭐⭐
minhee: explosives
achievement: adrenaline // unlocks advances explosive skills + 50% damage increase with explosives
main weapon: explosives // secondary weapon: long-range
hyeongjun: driver
achievement: gas pedal // unlocks mechanic skills including vehicle repair
main weapon: long-range // secondary weapon: close-range
the pair are a couple of rogues whose main goal in life is to make life hard for the rebel alliance. at their core, they're just a couple of hooligans whose favorite thing to do is pick the weak ones off one by one to remind the alliance that they're not really that tough. it's put them in some tight spots, however so they're not totally opposed to joining the good fight but you're gonna have to convince them. and don't forget, they're a package deal.
<< Frag out! I always wanted to say that... >>
<< Now this is what I'm talking about! >>
Eunsang
<< Yeah, I'm Eunsang. I'm just a medic though, what would you be looking for me for? >>
difficulty level: ⭐
medic
achievement: beautiful scar // unlocks advanced medical skills + 50% heal increase with medicinal healing items
main weapon: long-range (non-gun) // secondary weapon: melee
a traveling medic, he's more than willing to give a hand to those in need but he's skeptical of your intentions. at the end of the day, he'll be willing to join your team as long as you're willing to be honest with him. he is, after all, a pacifist.
<< I don't remember signing up for this! >>
Junho
<< Wouldn't call myself a "people person", but it's not so easy being on your own out here. Junho, and you are? >>
difficulty level: ⭐⭐
hand-to-hand - knives
achievement: villain // unlocks advanced stealth skills + 50% damage increase with bladed weapons
main weapon: melee // secondary weapon: close range
a thief, a bandit, a no-good klepto. people in the area have an eye out for this guy because he's been known to steal literally anything as long as it's useful. which can be handy if you know how to use them. junho's been keeping himself alive with his theivery and he's built up a bit of a skillset when it comes to stealth. but being a one-man show is dangerous and he's willing to give you the help you ask for, so long as you're willing to help in response.
<< Y'know, I got shot at less when I was just a thief. >>
Seungyoun
<< Killed you!? Ha! Don't expect that to be the only time. Name's Seungyoun, if you were interested. >>
romance-able npc (distrustful personality)
difficulty level: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
hand-to-hand - blunt weapons
achievement: i hate you // unlocks advanced melee weapon skills + 75% damage increase overall
main weapon: melee // secondary weapon: long-range
out in the plains, hiding in a broken military base is one man and he's crazy. people warn others not to go out to the plains because the guy out there will kill you for absolutely nothing. it's risky, but he's a hell of a man, specializes in close combat, and will do anything if the price is right. he almost kills you the moment you walk up to the base and it won't be the last time but if you gain his trust he'll be indispensable to the fight. just don't mind the insanity.
<< Oh, hell yeah! >>
Dongpyo
<< I'm kind of impressed. And trust me when I tell you I don't say that very often. I'm Dongpyo. >>
difficulty level: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
long-range marksman
achievement: killa // unlocks advanced long-range weapon skills + 50% damage increase with long-range weapons
main weapon: long-range // secondary weapon: close-range
he works alone and he likes it like that, or at least that's what he tells you. the guy's been on his own out here, sniper loaded and several hundred meters of forest completely untouched around him because members of the rebel alliance have fallen due to his good eye a few too many times. his solitude is self-enforced but once you make it past his minefield, he's not such a bad guy. he's actually willing to help you, impressed that you weren't deterred. but first, you gotta help him.
<< Don't do anything too stupid. I can see everything from up here. >>
Hangyul & Dohyon
<< Mercy? I don't really know her so consider yourself lucky I don't bet on guaranteed losses. I'm Hangyul. >>
<< And I'm Dohyon. Don't mind my brother, he can be a bit over-protective. >>
romance-able npc (Hangyul only; cocky personality)
difficulty level: ⭐⭐⭐
hangyul: hand-to-hand melee
achievement: jaws // unlocks advanced melee weapon skills + 50% damage increase with melee weapons
main weapon: melee // secondary weapon: explosives
dohyon: medic
achievement: soul // unlocks advanced medical skills + ability to craft first aid kits
main weapon: close-range // secondary weapon: long-range (non-gun)
the unbreakable bond between brothers is a special one and you learn that first hand when you meet dohyon, only to have his older brother come at you with a knife in the next second. a pair of nomadic hunters they're just trying to get by and avoid the alliance, and they're doing alright by themselves. so when you offer to help them it's a swift and firm 'no' until you manage to wheedle a price out of them. at this point, you know everyone has one so what's theirs?
<< Feels good to be in a fight again. >>
<< Have you considered being less reckless? Just asking. >>
Seungwoo
<< I've heard a lot about you. My name's Seungwoo, welcome to the post. >>
story related character
romance-able npc (romantic personality)
difficulty level: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
all-rounder
achievement: sacrifice // unlocks master skills + 50% defense increase overall
main weapon: close-range // secondary weapon: long-range
you meet seungwoo when you get the quest to go looking for the second post, the post is not very far, and certainly your best bet at really gaining a good defense. but it's rather obvious to you when you meet him, the leader of this post, that he's not interested in making friends. he's not interested in building a defense and possibly putting his people in danger. but you know better than anyone by now that you're stronger together and when you manage to convince him of it, he's willing to give it a shot. he's willing to help you. but if you want him in your party you're going to have earn far more than his trust: his respect.
<< Remember, we can't save anyone else if we get killed. >>
Additional achievements tied to party members / acquisition:
U Got It: obtain all party members
FLASH: get the secret / best ending [ secret achievement ]
EOEO: build enough friendship with Seungyoun to hear about his mysterious past [ secret achievement ]

“She’s getting too skinny,” Seungwoo said, turning to Seungyoun. “Don’t you think she’s getting too skinny?”
“She’s literally had two plates. I think she’s fine.”
Mya took another bite of the drumstick, blinking innocently. She pulled it away, wiping her mouth. “You know I’m supposed to be skinny, right?”
“You’re already skinny.” Hangyul protested. “If you lose any weight you’ll disappear.”
“Here, have some more chicken, Mimi.” Yohan handed her another piece.
She held up her hand. “Honestly I shouldn’t. After how much I ate this weekend, I should be careful. We have photoshoots coming up.”
“Why did you eat a lot this weekend?” Seungwoo asked.
“Oh, I went out for sushi.” Mya said quickly, taking another bite of her chicken.
“Where? Did you find a new place?” Seungyoun turned to her. He pretty much uniquely used her for restaurant recommendations.
“Uh, yes.” She rattled off the name of the restaurant, pointedly not taking her eyes off of her plate when she knew they recognized it.
“Isn’t that like a super nice restaurant?” Hangyul wiped his face.
“Yeah, they have like a garden out front.” Yohan exclaimed. “Why were you there? A group meeting or something?”
“Ah, no.” She swallowed. “I went with a friend.”
“A friend? You aren’t allowed to have other friends. Who was it?” Seungyoun asked suspiciously.
“Was this friend a boy?” Yohan teased.
“No.” Mya said too quickly, the blush on her face was a dead giveaway.
“You went out with a boy!” Seungwoo exclaimed. “Absolutely not.”
“Who is he? Why didn’t we get to meet him first?” Hangyul demanded.
“Uh, because we’re not in the same group anymore and I barely see you guys.” Mya snorted. “I’m old enough to go on a date if I want to go on a date.”
“You’re totally right.” Yohan said, before resting his head in his hands. “But who is he?”
“Mya’s got a boyfriend, Mya’s got a boyfriend.” Seungyoun sang.
“I don’t know if you guys have met him.” Mya said quietly.
“Oh, is he famous? Is he an idol?” Yohan leaned forward. “You have to tell us now.”
“You have to tell us or I’ll call like, Yiren or something and find out all of the details.” Seungyoun threatened.
Mya winced. There was no way Yiren would be able to keep the secret, so it was probably safer to just own up to it.
“Um, you guys have heard of NCT, right?”
“Right.” Seungwoo blinked. “You’re dating a member of NCT?” He practically shouted.
“Shut up.” Hangyul pulled him back down into his seat, before whisper-shouting at Mya. “You’re dating a member of NCT?”
“I...I guess so.” She tucked some hair behind her ear. “Have you guys ever met Yuta?”
Yohan’s mouth dropped open, and then he was pulling out his phone, rapidly googling.
“Did he ask you out? Did you ask him?” Seungyoun started rattling off questions.
“He hasn’t tried anything, right? You better not have even kissed him or I’ll have to-”
Yohan cut Seungwoo off. “Um, Mimi?”
“Yeah?”
“Are you aware he’s born in 1995?”
“Um, yes?” Mya blinked.
“Absolutely not.” Hangyul grabbed the phone from Yohan, confirming the birth date. “He’s five years older than you? No way.”
“He’s really nice.” Mya protested. “If you met him you’d-”
“And he has piercings?” Seungwoo saw a tweet, glaring up at Mya. “Break up with him right now, or I’ll call your brother.”
“He’s really sweet, and really funny.” Mya explained. “And I really like him.”
“Who asked who out?” Seungyoun repeated his question from earlier.
“We were kind of talking before I went into quarantine, and then he offered to take me out for a good meal as soon as I got out.” She explained.
“Woah, why are there search results for the two of you?” Yohan asked.
“He held your hand in public?” Hangyul screeched. “At an award show?”
“I was trying to climb onto a table in heels.” Mya said. “He was just helping me up.”
“Aw,” Yohan gave a cheeky grin. “He looks at you like a little puppy.”
“Yeah, because she’s practically naked in that picture.” Seungwoo frowned. “I am not happy about this.”
“I told you, didn’t I?” Mya asked. “I could have kept it a secret.”
“Yeah, but then we literally would have murdered you when we found out.” Hangyul crossed his arms.
“Well I’m happy for you, Mya.” Seungyoun chuckled.
“So am I. You guys look good together.” Yohan agreed.
They all looked to Hangyul and Seungwoo expectantly.
Seungwoo sighed. “I want to meet him.”
“Oppa, I-”
“No, I promised your brother I would look out for you, and even if we’re not in the same group anymore, I want to meet him.”
“We have to give him the big brother talk since your brother can’t be here to do it.” Hangyul agreed.
“Basically he doesn’t get to make out with you until-”
“What, you want to make out with him first?” Mya glared at Yohan. He was being very wishy-washy with who he was supporting in this.
“No.” He rolled his eyes.
“You’d better not be making out with anyone.” Seungwoo threw a balled up napkin at her.
“I’ll make out with whoever I want to.” Mya turned to Seungyoun. “Let’s go.”
“Not a chance.” He held up his hands. “I’m with you in this but if you try to kiss me, I’m out.”
“Fine, I will let you guys meet him.” Mya groaned. “But I pick where, and when. And you guys have to promise to be well-behaved and not mention anything about making out.”
“Yah, your Korean gets a lot better when you’re lecturing us.” Seungyoun teased.
“That’s it, I’m leaving.” Mya stood from the table.
“If you leave I can’t buy you ice cream.” Yohan reminded her.
She sat back down. “Fine. But I’m not happy about it.”

Filthy Rich, Spoilt Rotten | sixteen

Summary: Seungwoo covers up corruption and you are an activist in your spare time.
Also known as Seungwoo’s life as your employer
A week ago...
“Are you fucking kidding me?“ Lee Dongwook hurls the glass of bourbon to the wall. It crashes immediately, leaving a stain of brown liquid dribbling down the floor.
He combs his hand through his hair, breathing hard. Hangyul notices the tips of his father’s ears are red in anger and takes a step back instinctively. This reaction is unexpected. In fact, if he’s being honest, he has never seen his father react this harshly before. The urge to ask what’s wrong threatens to overcome him, but self-preservation dictates that he leave now. So, that’s what he tries to do until his father takes notice of his presence.
“What do you want, Hangyul?“ his father growls.
The sound sends shivers up his spine. This man suddenly feels like a stranger.
Dongwook walks around the desk to approach him and Hangyul almost bolts out of the room. Still, a big part of him tells him to remain where he is, unless he wants to make his father angrier than he already is.
“What the fuck do you want, Hangyul? I’m busy.“
His father easily towers over him and he steps back ever so slightly just so he doesn’t need to look up so much, “Seungwoo hyung called. He said—”
“Your brother cost us twenty-five billion won,“ Dongwook hisses, “Twenty-five billion!“
Hangyul pales. He has just gotten off the phone with his older brother and while he knows that Seungwoo has failed with something, he has no idea that much money has been involved. That’s more or less three percent of all of their net worths combined. Sure, it sounds like it won’t make much of a dent in their business but the fact that that much money has been lost not because a deal has fallen through but because it has been taken into police custody shows how grave exactly the situation is.
“Has...has anybody talked yet?“ he stutters. His father’s rage might be petrifying right now, but Hangyul doesn’t plan on waiting what else will unfold if the worst happens.
Dongwook shakes his head. “I don’t know,” he walks back to his desk to take his phone, “No one’s answering my calls and the men working for our friend, Tony Yu, have all been detained by the police. They haven’t made any calls outside since.”
“I thought Seungwoo hyung was supposed to take care of that meeting?“
“Every single one of the men on that port were booked by the police except for your brother. Once he gets back, take him straight to me. He needs to explain himself.“
Hangyul’s blood runs cold. “What are you saying, dad?“
His father turns to him darkly and he feels sweat breaking on his forehead.
“Just get it done, Hangyul,“ Dongwook snaps.
There’s no point in arguing with him, Hangyul realizes. So, he simply nods, “Okay, dad.”
It’s already nightfall by the time Seungwoo gets back. Seungyoun and the others have tried asking Hangyul about what has happened, but he can’t bring himself to even speak the words. So, he chooses to stay silent until he hears his older brother go through the gate. A part of him wants to rush down the driveway and turn Seungwoo away but a bigger part of him wants to see this through and to see the truth for himself. Hangyul knows, if he doesn’t find out what has happened this morning, his mind will never be able to get some peace and quiet.
Seungwoo gets out of the car with none of that confident aura he usually has. His collar is rumpled, hair disheveled like somebody has run their hands through it a couple times. Normally, this is Hangyul’s cue to tease Seungwoo because he looks exactly like how anyone would look like if they had some old-fashioned fun in the car on the way there, but this isn’t a normal night. So, Hangyul waits for another door to open until he has waited too long and still, nothing happens.
“Are you gonna keep standing there, Gyul?“ his older brother’s voice snaps him out of it.
Hangyul turns to him, “No assistant tonight, hyung?”
“No,” Seungwoo gives him a straight, no-nonsense look, his voice hard.
He puts both his hands up in the air not much unlike how Seungyoun does and shrugs. “I was just asking, hyung,”
“Right,“ Seungwoo bites, “Where’s dad?”
Hangyul breaks eye contact with him, whether because it feels like he’s bringing him to his execution or because he has seen neither his eldest brother nor his dad become furious until tonight, he doesn’t know. All he knows is that he just wants to get this night over with so they can finally go back to the family they used to be.
“He’s in the study,“ Hangyul answers, “I’ll go with you.“
This stops Seungwoo in his tracks. Gone is his aggression from before. He now looks worried, and if Hangyul knows his brother any better, he would say scared, but their eldest brother never gets scared. So, Hangyul surmises it must be the lighting outside. After all, it’s already dark.
Seungwoo leads the way — as he always has since they have been children. Hangyul doesn’t mind, either. They have all followed their eldest brother’s lead for as long as he can remember. Strong and confident Seungwoo hyung, Hangyul thinks. He has always been a leader through and through. So, when he turns around with unsure, nervous eyes before they enter their father’s study, Hangyul is alarmed. Suddenly, he is also unsure and slightly afraid.
“What’s wrong, hyung?“ he whispers.
But his brother doesn’t get to answer, because as soon as he starts to part his mouth, the door to the study suddenly opens with their father glaring at the both of them right inside.
“Everything,“ Dongwook growls.
All that jiu-jitsu training and Hangyul still isn’t prepared for what happens next. Seungwoo barely makes a step forward before he is greeted by their father’s fist to his face. He staggers backwards and almost falls over from the impact, but Hangyul braces himself as support behind his brother and eventually helps him regain his footing.
“Dad,“ Seungwoo wipes on his lip and winces, “Calm down.“
They both get inside the study and Hangyul locks the door behind him.
“You stupid, stupid boy!“ Dongwook charges at Seungwoo again, but this time, Hangyul steps forward to stop him.
Hangyul, considerably shorter than their father, visibly struggles to keep him at bay, “Dad, stop it!”
But Dongwook’s anger is unrelenting and soon enough, he slips past Hangyul to swipe at his first born once more. His fists only catch air and this is when the two brothers realize that their father is wobbly and his eyes are unfocused. One quick glance at the tray where he keeps his bourbon tells Seungwoo that their father definitely has had one too many. So, they both approach him and sit him on a chair, albeit his rather faint resistance.
“Do you have any idea,“ their father pants, “what you have done, Seungwoo?“
The sudden defeat in Dongwook’s eyes alarms Hangyul as he stares back to both of his sons. It is only then that Hangyul realizes that it’s not sweat dripping down their father’s neck but hot, wet tears. Now, in all the years he’s known his father, it is only once that he’s seen him cry. Seeing him shed tears right now, all the more tightens the tension that Hangyul has been feeling since this morning.
Hangyul takes a glance at his brother to see if he’s feeling the same, but Seungwoo’s face is as cold as ice, unreadable. His brother takes a handkerchief from his pocket and wipes down their father’s face and neck. Dongwook doesn’t resist, but he can tell that he’s uncomfortable being taken care of by his sons.
“I’ll fix this, Dad,“ Seungwoo finally says when he’s done, “Let me handle it.“
Dongwook shakes his head slowly. Although, Seungwoo doesn’t see because he has already walked towards the door. Hangyul thinks the fatigue from the entire day must have finally caught up to him because his normally broad shoulders now look slumped and petite.
“They’ll come after you,” their father suddenly rasps, struggling on sitting more upright on the chair.
Seungwoo looks back, a determined look dancing on his face, “I know. Let them.“
Hangyul hasn’t slept that night.
Present time...
Sweat drenches her neck and back as she takes the zillionth rest tonight. Her tank top clings to her skin in that annoying, disgusting way only sweat-drenched clothes ought to make, but it doesn’t faze her. Nothing can faze her right now when all she wants is to keep hitting that stupid punching bag until she’s too tired to give anything a second thought. Her mind is a one-way street and nothing can take that away from her right now — or so she thinks.
“That’s enough already, YN,“ a hand stills the sack of sand in front of her.
She almost punches Yohan in the face when he steps between her and the bag. She decides against it, though. His admirers will weep at his pretty face getting all banged up, she thinks.
So, instead, she makes a face at him, “Just one more hour, please?”
But Yohan shakes his head, “You’ve been at it since three in the afternoon. It’s already seven.”
“What?“
He gives her an incredulous look, “It’s 7pm, YN. What the hell are you thinking throwing punches for four hours?“
“I was...training,“ she finally brings down the fists that she realizes she’s still holding up.
A sharp pain shoots up her shoulders and she almost falls over if not for Yohan bracing himself for support. He wordlessly takes her gloves off and inspects her fingers with her watching his face for any reaction all the while. He has always known her better than anyone else, even better than Minhee, but now she wonders if he can still tell what’s on her mind.
Yohan uncurls her hands and makes a tsk sound when she gasps in pain, “You really never know when to stop,” he comments as he meets her in the eye.
On any other day, she would’ve taken that comment lightly, but right now that she’s at her most sensitive, angriest state thus far, she can’t make herself let go. So, she takes her hands from Yohan and shoots him a glare.
“What’s that supposed to mean?“ she asks, challenging.
The defensive tilt of her chin obviously surprises Yohan and it infuriates her even more when he doesn’t engage, “It’s just that. Nothing else.”
She grabs the gloves from his hands and tries to goad him on, “You meant something more and you know it. What are you saying, Yohan?”
The girl isn’t usually belligerent like this. In all of her bravado in “exposing” the Lee family, deep inside, she’s not a confrontational person. Not really. That’s why she knows her behaviour surprises Yohan right now. As ugly as it can be to admit it, but she can’t really bring herself to care. Not right now. She’s been simmering in anger since this morning and she needs release. So, as he fixes the other equipments in the gym, she follows suit to pester him some more.
“Just tell me, Yohan,“ she sighs, arms crossed against her chest.
It must have been the stale air in the gym or the darkness outside the glass panes or the thought that she might have intentionally wanted to vent all her anger on him because she knows he’ll never get mad at her no matter what but the second Yohan turns to face her again, she sees a whole new side of this man she’s been friends with for so long. And almost immediately, her heart becomes a hummingbird trapped in a cage as he takes a hand to the side of her face.
The girl tries to backpedal, “Fine, let’s just drop it.”
But it’s too late now. Yohan steps closer to her — so close that she can smell the faint scent of his perfume. He stoops down to her level so they are now face to face. The hummingbird in her chest is now trying to peck its way out.
“No, you wanted me to talk, right?“ Yohan asks as his eyes bore into her own.
She doesn’t answer. She is frozen in place.
There is a mix of anger and sadness when Yohan speaks again, “You let yourself fall too hard, YN.”
“What?“ she stutters, confused and nervous.
Yohan still has his face inches away from hers and little by little, she feels the discomfort crawl up her body like a vine. She wants to slap herself. There is no need to provoke Yohan and yet she already has. And now, she doesn’t know what to do.
“You know exactly what I’m saying, YN,“ he whispers.
“No, I don’t...“
Yohan smirks, “Liar. You were so angry a moment ago. Why?”
This time, she finally averts her gaze. So, that’s how it is, she thinks. Yohan notices her reaction. He stretches up and steps away from her still smirking. This Yohan isn’t unknown to her, but he sure is unfamiliar. Especially, because he’s being like that to her. He’s never been like that to her.
Now, it’s Yohan who crosses him arms. “It’s about him, isn’t it?”
“Seungwoo has nothing to do with—“ her hands fly up to cover her mouth but they both have already heard all there is to hear.
Yohan shakes his head in disdain, “You love him.”
He doesn’t say it as a question, but she still gets the need to deny it, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
It doesn’t convince him, though. “You love him,” he repeats.
“Stop it, Yohan!“ the girl cries.
“Have the courage to say it to my face, at least,” he whispers, sounding strained, “Say it to the person who has been with you when everyone else couldn’t be there.”
“There’s nothing to say...” her breaths come out in gasps as she clutches her chest and heaves. It’s hard not to start crying but she manages not to for a while.
“Say it to the person whom you have so conveniently taken to your side to give you the love and affection that you craved but couldn’t give back,” Yohan’s voice is sharper, like he’s gritting his teeth, but she can’t know for sure because the second he’s started speaking again, her tears are welling up and she’s choking out sobs faster than she can breathe.
She mumbles something softly.
“What?“ Yohan takes in a sharp breath.
The girl lifts her head up, tears streaming down her face, “I said,” she whimpers, “You’re right.”
Yohan smiles bitterly. He covers a trembling hand over his mouth, but he manages to get out a small “thank you” before pulling away.
For the first time in their friendship, Yohan has turned his back on her as she cries. A part of her wants to beg for him to stay, to tell her everything is going to be okay and that they’ll fix whatever problem it is that they have right now but a bigger part of her knows that’s nearly impossible. So, she lets him leave. She doesn’t even follow her with her gaze. She just stands in the middle of the gym, tears pooling around her feet and she realizes she has just committed the biggest blunder of her life.
She’s fallen in love with Han Seungwoo.
A/N: I wanted to make this longer but school stuff is taking it’s toll and I wanted to post an update already. Anyways, hope you guys enjoy!

ding!
the door flipped open, and you came in with a smile plastered on your face. you stood at the counter waiting for one of the baristas to finish making the customer's drink.
"hey! welcome," the male said, as he fixed his slanted name tag. "what will you be having?"
"just a vanilla latte, please," you replied, taking your wallet out of your backpack.
"great, that'll be $4.99," his voice sounded like fresh brewed coffee on cold mornings. you pass him the money after meeting his caramel eyes for just a second. he let out a soft chuckle under his breath after seeing your rilakkuma wallet. the sudden chuckle caught you off guard that a blush appeared on your face.
you proceeded to the waiting counter as he started making your drink. your eyes were on him the whole time, admiring his figure. you eventually caught a full glimpse of his nametag even if he was moving back and fourth. lee hangyul.
"here's your vanilla latte," he said, placing the cup of coffee onto the counter. he said it with one of the cutest smiles you've ever seen.
"thanks," you said, trying hard to avoid eye contact.
he disappeared to the cashier before you took a seat by a huge window. you took a peek of him serving the next customer and stopped before your heart skipped a beat. maybe studying at a new spot wasn't such a bad suggestion.

Han Seungwoo:
Tumblr media
- The type of boyfriend who cares like a dad
- The moment you started dating him you got yourself ten kids congratulations!
-  He Always makes sure that you are okay
- Feel bad and don't want anyone to know?
- That won't happen on Han Husband material Seungwoo's watch
- His favorite kind of date would be walking around in some park where it's just the two of you
- He would obviously show his tattoos a lot when he's with you because he knows how much you like them (and I think he's a lil tease)
- He do probably has a hard time showing how he feels because he once said he has a hard time opening up
- But when time comes around, you can be the one who he can rely on
- My conclusion: if you get yourself somebody like Seungwoo, just go to the altar already
Cho Seungyoun:
Tumblr media
- He is the type of boyfriend that feels like your best friend, you can't tell me otherwise
- He probably loves to clown his bandmates with you
- You also will be his victim at least once
- When goes too far though, he'll apologize at that certain moment
- I see him as the type who would make a song about you as present
- or get a tattoo dedicated to his so
- Your to go dates would be some fun place such as an karaoke bar or an amusment park
- You also basically adopted Dohyon the moment you two got together
- When you feel down or sad, he would make a fool out of himself to make you smile again
- He is basically in love with your smile
- My conclusion; dating Seungyoun would be extremely fun
Kim Wooseok:
Tumblr media
- He gives me the kind of vibe that makes me think that he's the kind of boyfriend who has to take his time with opening up to you
- We all know how bad he got hurted during that scandal
- This smol babie needs to feel secure with you before he can open up
- When that happens, he would be such a sweet boyfriend
- However he still probably will tease the living hell out of you just for fun
- He also would be your personal fashion stylist and make sure you leave the house looking like a god/goddess
- He would compliment you 24/7 to make you a flustured mess
- Your favorite kind of date probably would be at a fancy restaurant where you can enjoy the heavenly food with your heavenly boyfriend.
- He sometimes can be a bit cocky
- But he is the sweetest angel (don't hurt him though)
Kim Yohan:
Tumblr media
- He would be such a soft af boyfriend
- At first he would be so shy around you and giggle whenever you come near him (just like the infamous apple vid with Yuvin)
- He would be extremely romantic
- He will let you know he loves and adores you literally every second of the day
- Also is kind of clingy but not in a bad way
- For example: when you lay down, he'll cling onto you like a koala bear
- Or he pulls you to him just like he does to Dongpyo
- Really protective over you
- He wouldn't harm a fly unless someone hurts you
- Good thing you basically got yourself a loveable and extreme handsome bodyguard
- You guys would probably go to a fair as to go date
- You bet your ass Yohan will try to win a teddy bear for you
- even though it took him a hunderd times to actually succeed.

Lee Hangyul:
Tumblr media
- He looks like a though and intimitated kind of guy
- Actually he's such a adorable teddy bear
- I see him as the casual kind of boyfriend
- He would love to do couple work out's together because he loves working out and he loves you
- He would be so caring and make sure you are alright

Remember me // Kim Wooseok
Tumblr media
✨ Happy Birthday Wooseok-kie
A/n: listen to Andromeda by Weyes Blood while reading.
————————————————————————————————
“God, you are totally drunk Y/n.”
Across the coffee table splattered with spilt drinks, you slouched on the sofa. Through the haze of the oddly dim lights in the living room, you saw Hangyul frowning as he chugged another cup of whatever the hell was making everyone so dizzy.
“Pfft, what are you talking about? I’m not drunk.”
Your words were slurred over the dulling party music. It was almost 3 am. The once vibrant party was slowly coming to a halt as you heard your friend Wooseok say a few goodbyes to his friends from behind you.
“You’re not drunk?"
Hangyul raised an eyebrow. You only shrugged in response.
“Fine, then say this really quickly: Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers ."
You sat up straight, lips pressing into a thin line.
“Peter...Piper-r, picked a p-peck of pickled...peppers.”
You frowned as Hangyul erupted in a profuse laughter.
“Wait- who the fuck is Peter Piper?”
You squinted an eyebrow, wondering who this strange named fellow was.
Hangyul was right. You were totally drunk. And maybe that’s why you fell into the arms of Wooseok as soon as he entered the living room after seeing off the last of his friends.
“Wooseok hyung, Look at Y/n, she’s drunk as hell.”
Hangyul’s laughter multiplied as Wooseok held you tightly in his arms. He playfully scowled at Hangyul before patting your head,
“Come on, Hangyul, don’t tease Y/n.”
You clinged to Wooseok while sticking your tongue out at the boy.
“That’s right, you better watch out Mr. Hangyul or I’ll have Wooseok beat you up.”
“You better watch out Mr. Hangyul”, Hangyul mocked you by repeating what you said but with much exaggeration.
Wooseok glanced at you once, watching you pout at Hangyul’s ridiculous mockery. An earnest warmth spread in his heart at the sight. But before it could engulf him, Hangyul abruptly sat up from his seat, panicking as he darted his eyes at the wall clock and said,
“Oh fuck, it’s almost 3 am! I was supposed to binge-watch a drama tonight.”
You glanced at Hangyul and muttered, “What a loser.” but he ignored it, quickly saying his goodbyes as he headed towards the main door of Wooseok’s house.
With Hangyul gone, a mirthful silence overtook the air in the living room. With your arms wrapped around Wooseok’s waist and his strong hands wrapped around your shoulders even the silence didn’t feel upsetting. Your eyelids drooped as sleep threatened to steal the moment away, but you fought against it, shaking your head slightly whenever you blacked out. Wooseok, however, took notice of this little battle of yours. He heaved a long breath before saying,
“I should get you home.”
You whined as he stood up, leaving you to slump against the sofa once again.
“I’m too tired.”
Wooseok took your hands in his, pulling at them to help you stand up. He laughed when you almost bumped into him.
“That’s why I’m taking you home, come on.”
He made you walk ahead of him, grabbing his car keys and your jacket from the coffee table before making you wear it. Wooseok trailed behind you through the hallway outside, worried that you might stumble at any point. You swayed here and there, obviously under the influence of alcohol, a LOT of it in fact.
As Wooseok predicted, you slipped due to your lack of balance at the main door. Thankfully, he was just a step behind you, thus, he caught you gracefully, putting you to your feet before you even knew it.
“Whoops.”
You giggled sheepishly as the boy behind you simply shook his head in adoration. He held onto your shoulders up till the driveway, letting you go only when he had sat you down in his car and he fastened the seatbelt around you.
He crossed over to the other side, settling into the driver's seat before inserting the car keys into the ignition.
On the opposite side, you leaned against the car window, blowing away the strands of hair falling onto your eyes. You pressed your warm cheeks against the cold glass, licking your dry lips as the neighborhood outside faded with the speeding car.
The fast moving world outside made you even dizzier, but you kept looking. The moonlight gave an ethereal hue to the street leading to your neighborhood, it enlightened all its dullness.
There was only one problem, though. Although beautiful, everything seemed as if it was upside down.
"Why are the houses upside down?"
Wooseok turned his eyes away from the empty street to look at your tilted head, which was undoubtedly the reason the houses seemed 'upside down' to you. He corrected the tilt in your head with one hand, sighing when he asked,
"Exactly how much beer did you drink?"
He glanced at you.
You huffed in response.
"I didn't drink beer. I just drank some-some purple nurples."
Wooseok burst into laughter at that. You looked at him, confused as to what you said he found so funny. With squinted eyes, you observed the way his lips curled up as he tried to suppress his laugh, and the way his cheeks burned a vibrant shade of red as he looked at you.
In that moment, even with the daze the alcohol was putting you in, you managed to take a glimpse at Wooseok's face clearly. It was magical, you thought at first. There was no way his face, glowing brighter than the sullen moonlight, could be real. It was humanly impossible.
"Who told you to call them that?"
The residue of laughter was still in his voice when Wooseok asked that.
You turned your head towards cold window, pouting as you gazed up at the stars.
"Hangyul-ie."
Wooseok sighed as he gently steered the car onto the street you lived in.
"Of course he did."
Your eyes started drooping again. Your mouth hung open as slumber overcame your frail mind, thus, you didn't notice when the car came to a stop outside your house.
Wooseok didn't wake you up either. He thought you looked most beautiful like this. Unbothered, as you slept through the influence of alcohol. Innocent as a gazelle, just like he imagined. Even with your mouth hanging open, and your face awkwardly pressed against the car window, you looked absolutely adorable.
He could look at you forever, as cliche as it sounded. But at the same time, he knew you had a really important lecture you couldn't miss in the morning and even coming to his birthday party had cost you a few precious hours you could have spent studying instead. He felt guilty about it, to say the least.
With a featherlight touch, Wooseok pushed away the strands of hair falling in your face.
"Y/n?"
His voice was a melody in the night. A shadow, a symphony. It intoxicated you more than the alcohol you had drank.
You stirred awake in the passenger seat. Disoriented, you rubbed your eyes before taking a good look at your surroundings.
You were home.
Too bad, you thought. You suddenly wished your house wasn't so close to Wooseok's.
"We're home."
The car was parked in your driveway. Here the sound of crickets was the only thing you could hear, a direct contrast to the cacophonous party music you had left behind.
You took one good look at the sky through your window before sitting up straight and turning towards Wooseok who you, unintentionally, caught staring at you.
"The sky looks beautiful."
You said the second thing on your mind at that moment. Wooseok smiled at you, craning his head through the windshield to look at the sky himself. You followed suit in leaning over the car's dashboard, eyes finding their solace only when they looked at Wooseok.
He was about to say something; Quite possibly just about to pass a remark on how the sky looked rather dull for his liking. But before he could start talking, you said the first thing that was on your mind in that moment.
"You look beautiful."
Wooseok looked at you. Licking his lips, he opened his mouth before closing it and giving you a lopsided smile full of coquetry, eyes drooping even though he had no drinks that night. The digital clock on the car’s dashboard flashed a bright 3:00 am, teasing you for the lack of sleep you would be getting tonight, but you successfully ignored it. Right now, the feeling of Wooseok’s fingers brushing past your hair was the only thing you cared about.
He cocked his head to one side, biting his lips before saying, "And you look like that poem you once read out to me once, the one Hangyul pretended to hate."
Your eyes dropped to his lips wondering how exactly someone could look like a poem as he recalled its words.
"I am of the effervescent moonlight. A speck in a blanket of stars sewn into the sky."
You, with your slurred voice, continued for him, “I am the dusk that dulled and the dawn that is yet to rise. An ephemeral light of reverie in this numbing violence..."
You dug through your memory to remember the last stanza, but unfortunately your drunk mind just couldn't reach that far to pull it out. Wooseok smiled, watching you wrinkling your nose with adoration. Before you could end up putting too much pressure on your feeble mind, Wooseok decided to finish the poem for you,
“I am your thought, your prayer-”
His hands were on your cheeks, caressing the cold away.
“I am your winsome love and sometimes…”
His eyes were on your lips and his lips were inches away from yours.
“...I am all of you and more.”
He sighed once he finished the poem, eyes far away as if they longed for something they couldn’t have.
“I’d kiss you if you weren’t so drunk.”
Despite the blazing warmth etching up your cheeks, you shook your head violently when you said, “I’m not drunk, though.”
Your words made Wooseok laugh and if you claimed you weren’t drunk then, you sure as hell were drunk now. It was something in his voice. Something that made you lose focus so easily. It terrified you.
“How about this: If you manage to wake up in the morning and remember this moment, I’ll owe you a kiss.”
You blinked profusely, pouting at his proposition. How could you remember this moment, when you could barely remember your own name around Wooseok. It was impossible, you thought as Wooseok bid you farewell, and you watched his car fade away in the darkness as it steered across the grim street.
Maybe if you stayed awake all night, recalling his words over and over again, you might still remember the moment in the morning. You tried it when you lied on your bed, eyes wide open in an attempt to stay awake. But when you recalled Wooseok’s words you heard his voice, and when you heard his voice, it lulled you to sleep, forcing you to shut your eyes and dwell in their melody.
Thus, your eyes closed as your heartbeat dulled and the blaring sun started to creep up on the horizon outside. You knew you wouldn’t remember anything in the morning, you knew your forgetful self wasn’t strong enough to remember such a beautiful moment. Yet, when you finally fell asleep, you slept with a smile on your face, hoping that the small curl of your lips would keep you wondering all through the morning when it came.
