She whacks you with her trunk, ears and tusks quite often, especially her ears. She also has a bum back leg from trying to pull out a poisoned spike after she stepped on it as a young calf. (Poachers bury them in the ground along elephant trails) She's also VERY photogenic. At some point you'll see one of our selfies. Interesting story-I love how the little baby keeps up with Mama! #bekindtoelephants #trunkupwines ・・・ We had an interesting morning. Please take a moment and read her story.....it’s an interesting insight as a Mother cares for her baby. This mother is with her baby. The third elephant is her 10 year old daughter. They kept walking and walking as a bull was following them. She was trying to get her baby away safely. The daughter is in oestrus, meaning she is ready to mate. However she was having none of it. They eventually lost the bull as they crossed the river..... smart mother, the bull lost the scent. Until he lost them, he was patiently walking behind them as she was twisting and turning, you can see she is walking at quite a pace before making it to the river bank.....Watching elephants is fascinating. They are highly tuned and intelligent animals. Sigh. As a black, Muslim woman, I have received some comments questioning why I posted about the slaughter of elephants and not the killings of my fellow black and Muslim brothers and sisters around the world. Yes, the murder of innocent humans is horrible. But I believe that pointing out one injustice does not imply approval of another. Furthermore, as Muslims, we should know that killing animals for sport or pleasure is forbidden. We are tasked with treating animals with compassion and protecting them from harm. It is an essential part of Islam that many tend to ignore. Prophet Muhammad SAW said: A good deed done to an animal is like a good deed done to a human being, while an act of cruelty to an animal is as bad as cruelty to a human being.

Therefore contemplate nature around you as it brings you closer to God. Think of how your present actions affect the future. Finally, #handsoffourelephants!

Day 2: Samburu Game Reserve

Morning and late afternoon game viewing drives in this Reserve, with spectacular sceneries and diverse wildlife. Dinner and Overnight at the respective Lodge.

Day 3: Samburu – Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast, rejoin your driver/guide and depart for the Rift Valley arriving for lunch at a Lodge in Lake Nakuru National Park.  Late afternoon game viewing & bird watching. Dinner and overnight at at the respective Lodge. Distance: Approx. 400 kms – 6 hrs drive.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru - Maasai Mara Game Reserve

After breakfast commence drive west past Mount Longonot and via Narok to the Maasai Mara National Reserve to arrive for lunch at the respective Lodge / Camp. Late afternoon game viewing drive. Dinner & overnight at the respective Lodge. Distance Approx. 310 kms – 6 hrs drive

Day 5: Maasai Mara Game Reserve

The early morning calm air of the Maasai Mara has made possible the introduction of Hot Air Balloon flights, available as an optional tour of a hot air balloon ride to see the park from a bird's eye view, from leading lodges and camps in the reserve. (Please reserve early to avoid disappointment for this adventure!). Pre-breakfast morning game drive in the reserve, a great opportunity to explore the vast flora and fauna of this magnificent reserve.  After a rewarding game drive, return to your lodge for late morning breakfast. Lunch and late afternoon Game viewing drive.

OPTION: A full day game drive with picnic lunch boxes (full day game drive including visits to Mara River, Kenya Tanzania Border Post and a great chance to view the "Big Five". You will have picnic lunch at Hippo Pool. Return to your lodge late in the afternoon). Later just relax or visit the nearby Maasai village as an optional excursion. Dinner and overnight at the respective Lodge.

Day 6: Maasai Mara - Nairobi & Depart

Transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for scheduled International departure flight, 03 HOURS PRIOR TO FLIGHT DEPARTURE TIME. Distance Approx. 270 kms – 5 hrs drive
