when everyone gets back to the boat she tried to unsuspectingly scope you out (tried because she was actually frantically searching for someone and wouldn’t say who as everyone panicked-) and as soon as she saw you she sighed in relief! But soon after, she started blushing and she felt a warm fuzzy feeling!

Ace scenario : The moment I became a whole (read after the cut)

His heart is wrenching inside his chest, while he’s looking at the horizon. He has never been so nervous in his entire life. Not even when his crew has been defeated by Whitebeard. Not even when he took the sea at the age of seventeen. Not even when he was on that scaffold, his life about to be ended by the marines. No, he has never felt this way. Perhaps it’s because it’s been two years since he didn’t see her. Two years without a single letters, nor a single phone call. Two years living with the everlasting fear that their passion would be gone for good ; something belonging to the past. They are young after all, barely twenty two years old. At this particular age, there’s nothing to bond you forever to the other one. Ace pinches his lips together, and watches Amazon Lily’s island becoming bigger and bigger, as his ship is about to anchor there. 

“Oï Ace, look at this!” Luffy brags while he blows in his hand, creating for the thousand time a gigantic bicep. “It’s really cool!” 

“Shut it, Luffy.” Ace rolls his eyes, while he sighs, looking at the cliff just above the natural arbor. 

Two years ago, he was with her, right there, still shocked and injured after what happened in Marineford. They made love for the very first time of their life, both of them finally forgetting the many obstacles between their hearts. Ace has cherished that moment every day since he left Amazon Lily, sailing with his young brother to that wild island where the both of them trained harshly until today. 

“Do you think she’s still there?” Luffy suddenly asks, right beside Ace, as he doesn’t know he just surprised his elder brother. 

“Who?” Ace frowns. With Luffy, there are always so many possibilities. 

Luffy chuckles and throws to Ace a playful stare, while he jumps on the barrier of the deck and starts to walk on it.

“The girl who saved your ass, idiot! You love her, don’t you?” 

Ace wants to punch his little brother right in the nose, but he’s terrified to answer this question. He doesn’t know. She lost everything during that battle, two years ago, but he can’t tell if she waited for him. Perhaps the marines took her away, when he wasn’t here to defend her. Perhaps she also decided to disappear, too ashamed to face him the day he would be back. 

“I don’t know, Luffy. She might be gone,” Ace answers bitterly, swallowing his spit. “She has no reason to wait anyway,” 

“Mmmh…,” Luffy closes his eyes, patting his chin. “I think she’s there. She’s your nakama, or sort of.” He shrugs while he jumps back on the deck and starts to exercice, easily distracted by his own mind. 

“Yeah, sort of…,” Ace adds for himself, feeling his heartbeat getting erratic as the boat is now really close to the shore.

When Ace jumps off the boat, he immediately recognizes and appreciates the general atmosphere of Amazon Lily. The arbor is pretty busy at this time of the day, and Luffy is already lost in the alleys, begging for food, not even paying attention to the rest of the world. Ace chuckles and pushes his hat down on his hair, looking around to see if he spots any familiar faces. The capital of the island isn’t so far, and perhaps that a few warriors under the orders of the empress are here to shop for her. He puts his bundle on his shoulders and starts to walk, looking around to see if he can see anyone, but especially her. After all, the purpose of this visit is to find her lover ; at least for him. The real goal of this mission is for Luffy to thanks Boa Hancock, and for the two of them to get back to Sabaody and meet the rest of the Straw Hat. 

“Oh…,” Ace stops walking while he feels something grab his ankle. He looks down to notice a little toddler gripping his boot. “Hey little one, are you lost?” 

Behind dark locks, two curious brown eyes are watching him, absolutely hypnotized by his features. Ace can’t help but smile to the little girl, squatting down to have a better look on her round and chubby face. She’s really adorable. 

“Are you alright?” He tries again, his voice soft and reassuring. 

He has always loved kids, he can’t deny it. And this one looks particularly gorgeous. As an answer, she only extends her hands up in the air, closing and opening them while she gives him the purest smile ever. 

“Up!” She orders with her baby voice, and a soft giggle escaping from her throat. 

Ace chuckles and tousles her raven hair, before he eventually accepts her request, and picks her up in his arms. As he straightened himself up, he feels her tiny fingers exploring his face, gently grasping his nose and skimming his cheek. It makes him laughs softly, while he notices the many freckles on her pale skin. 

“Young lady, are you trying to seduce me?” Ace winks, as the little girl muffles another happy giggle. 

“Funny!” She says as her hands fall down on his neck, pulling on the rope of his hat. “Papa funny!” 

Ace is a little bit surprised by her statement, feeling embarrassed. He shakes his head and smiles tenderly. 

“I’m not your papa, young lady,” he says as he changes her position on his arm, so she can have a proper seat. “But I can help you finding him? Or maybe your mama?” 

“Mama!” The toddler positively shouts, her eyes enlightening by the thought of her mother. 

Ace sighs, as he starts to walk in the alley, where numerous merchants are selling their products. Perhaps her father is somewhere there? He doesn’t remember seeing someone with freckles among the Amazonians, but there’s still the possibility that the person he’s looking for works on this market. She seems too young to be on her own anyway. He decides that he just needs to ask to the different persons here, and eventually, someone will recognize this little girl. 

“Excuse-me!” He calls out to the first merchant. “Do you know who’s she? And where could be her father, or mother?” 

The merchant blinks several times, looking at Ace, then at the little girl, while she’s laughing blissfully within his arms. 

“I’m not here to play game, Fire Fist…” The merchant answers before he rolls his eyes and turns his back to disappear behind a ripped curtain. Ace tries to call him a few times, but nothing. He tries to another merchant, and another one, but all of them seem pretty hostile and busy, and none of them would give him a proper answer. 

“Papa funny…,” the little girl cooes, hiding her nose in the crook of his neck. 

Ace continues his researches for at least half a hour, as he starts to feel slightly afraid for this little toddler. Why does he feel that no one take him seriously? He heard many giggles when he asked his questions, and it seemed that all of them knew the girl. After a moment, slightly upset with the whole situation, and the precious time he’s losing, he decides to take a break, as he seats on a barrel and secures the girl on his lap. She immediately pushes her back against his belly, sucking on her thumb, continuing to give him lovely smiles. Ace can’t help but play with her hair, before he exhales loudly. She seems young, but perhaps she would be able to describe her mother? Or her father?

“Tell me, sweetie,” he starts while he cups her jawline and lifts her chin up. “How’s your mama?” 

“Fine!” The girl nods as she swings her feet. “Mama is okay!” 

Ace giggles and shakes his head. 

“No, I mean… Can you describe her physically? Can you tell me how she looks like?” 

The little girl frowns, visibility concentrated. She looks at her hands for a second, playing with her pants, before she eventually looks back at Ace with a radiant face. 

“Mama is pretty!” 

Ace widens his eyes before he massages his forehead, unable to scold such an adorable child for her more than honest answer. She’s trying her best to describe her mother, but all she can think about is that she’s a beautiful woman. And there are a lot of women on Amazon Lily. But since he can’t stay with her forever, Ace starts again. 

“Sweetheart, can you describe your papa, now?” 

Hopefully, she will understand… Again, she frowns, looking at him with curious and lost eyes, before she tilts her head and points at him with her index. 

“Papa.” She just answers, blinking. 

“I’m not your papa,” Ace shakes his head, as he puts his back against the wall. “It’s not a game, sweetheart. You have to tell me where are your parents, because I need to go.” 

“Go?” 

Ace immediately regrets his sentence. The eyes of the toddler are now full of tears, her bottom lip trembling dangerously. Before he can do anything, she turns into an impressive human waterfall, heavy tears falling on her cheeks, her screams desperate and full of pain. 

“No, no, no! Don’t cry!” Ace gasps as he pulls her against his chest and rocks her gently. “I’m sorry, I don’t mean to hurt you… But you need to understand that I can’t stay…” 

“Stay! Stay!” She desperately cries, her little fingers gripping his skin, she’s now inconsolable. 

What can he do, now? He tries his best to rock her, but it seems that his words have a real impact on her heart. Perhaps her papa abandoned her? Maybe she’s an orphan? So many questions travel through Ace’s mind. He’s so busy trying to comfort her that he doesn’t notice the silhouette walking in their direction. As the little girl is still a crying mess, a young woman is now standing in front of them, her own heart about to fall in her guts. 

“Ace?” 

It feels like time stops itself, her soft voice echoing into his soul. Even the little girl immediately stops her cryings, sniffing while she looks up and extends her arm in the direction of the woman standing in front of them. Ace can’t even think anymore. He can’t believe it. It’s her. 

“Mama! Mama! Look!” The toddler happily wiggles on Ace’s lap, as the woman bends down to pick her up and kisses her cheek. 

Ace doesn’t process at all. He’s all numb, mouth slightly open, his eyes travelling from her lover face to the toddler’s one. Mama. 

“Name…,” Ace finally whispers, getting back on his feet as if he has been struck by an electric salvo. “Name, it’s you!” 

He wants to hug her, kiss her, to feel her skin again, and have her smell in his nose. To be able to cup her waist and make love to her, but every of his muscle doesn’t move. All he can think about is the fact that she’s carrying a little girl. 

“It’s been a while…,” she says, breathless, her eyes a bit shifty. “I was expecting your return…,” 

“Mama, look!” The toddler wiggles between her arms, pointing at Ace. 

Ace feels his heart wrenching hard. Is it… Really too late? After all, he shouldn’t be surprised. She’s a beautiful girl, fierce and intelligent. It’s perfectly normal that many men want to have her by their side and have a family with her. Yet, for Ace, it feels that he’s being stabbed by thousand knives. He swallows his spit, looking at the ground for a moment, pushing on the edge of his hat to cover a bit more his eyes. He’s so pitiful ; he’s about to cry. 

“I should go,” Ace whispers harshly, unable to stay anymore. His heart is broken in many pieces. “It was nice to see you again, Name...” 

“Mama, why papa is playing again?” The toddler says loudly, as Ace is about to turn his feet and leave them. 

“He...He doesn’t know who you are, sweetie…,” She answers shyly. “Not yet…” 

Ace feels his whole world spinning. He looks up, frowning. What is she trying to say right now? 

“He doesn’t know that he’s your father yet…” She continues, trembling. “I was supposed to tell him today, but someone decided to run away!” 

She turns her head to look at the mischievous eyes of her daughter. The little one only giggles and kisses her mother’s cheek. 

“It’s...It’s real?” Ace stutters, making a step forwards. He fights the need to throw up, the surprise kicking his guts. “She’s…” 

Name nods slowly. 

“Her name is *name*, she’s your daughter.” She pauses, then exhales. “I can’t believe you thought it could be someone else’s child she looks just like you!” She snaps, her impetuous character coming back to the light. 

Ace chuckles, still processing, yet, he closes the distance between the two of them. As he looks at his daughter, he can see how much she’s the spitting image of him. Same eyes, same hair, same freckles. 

“So… I’m your papa?” Ace asks, still hesitant. 

The little toddler just throws herself inside his arms, peppering his neck and jawline with tender kisses. 

“Yes! Yes, you papa!” Name chirps, “Mama showed me photo of papa!” 

Ace closes his eyes as he hugs her tightly, feeling the tender digits of his lover skimming his arm. 

“I showed her your bounty poster months ago. She wanted to meet you so eagerly, I couldn’t prevent her from escaping. She’s a real wild fire…”

Ace looks at the features of his lover, and slowly, he rolls his free arms around her waist, pulling her against his torso. For a second, he only sees the beautiful complexion of the women he loves, before he bends down and steals a hungry kiss, his thumb caressing her back. He feels so many emotions right now, and he can’t even pick one. They slowly part their lips, bliss surrounding the three of them. 

“Ace!” A voice calls from the end of the street. “Aceeee!” 

Ace notices his little brother running to them, a bright smile blooming on his lips. He waves at him, tears of happiness falling on his cheeks. 

“Luffy!” Ace shouts at the top of his voice. “Luffy, come here! I need to present you someone important…”

Alright, back at it again with another partner search! A lot of my rp’s have quieted down now so here I am. I’m Kia, female she/her pronouns and over 18. 

About me and how I roleplay

I live in the EST timezone and I’m generally pretty open for the day to respond. Sometimes may be busy, but I’ll respond as soon as I can.

I’ve only used Discord to rp before, but I’m willing to do email or Google docs if you would prefer that. However, I would rather use Discord or Tumblr Messenger for OOC

That being said, I’m totally game for OOC talks! I love spazzing over our characters and anything that happens. Sending music or drawings, I’m about it. I’m hoping to make some friendships out of this too.

I roleplay in 3rd person and usually give 2-3 paragraphs per reply, really just depends on what’s happening. All I’m asking for is some effort and I will readily do the same.

I like having a huge over arching plot, but have some subplots going on. Normally because I think up a lot of little ideas for things that can be explored on their own. 

I like to either double or have one main pairing and then have some side characters, just to help keep things interesting. I’ll play as many characters as we need, I like to explore multiple characters. My characters are usually poc and lgbtq+.

Looking to have F/F as a main paring, any other relationships can be whatever ship that happens. While I may or may not make sexual innuendos and stuff like that, I do not rp actual smut, I will only do fade to black. 

I rp original characters. While I prefer to do original plots and worldbuild, I also like to enter oc’s into fandom universes too. Canon characters can be side characters that appear or are mentioned every once in a while. Letting you know now, I don’t personally use face claims, it’s normally rather difficult to find someone who looks like what I envisioned for my characters so I just don’t use them. 

What I’m looking for in a partner

You have to be 18+, I just don’t feel comfortable rping with minors as an adult.

No ghosting! I understand life gets in the way sometimes and you may have to step back for a while. Just let me know real quick and I’ll understand. Or if you lose interest just tell me. I will try and let you know if I’m going to be busy for a while too.

Please participate in plotting and worldbuilding with me. It sucks whenever I feel like I’m the one putting in most of the effort. I like to create large worlds together and it’s rather difficult to do so on your own.

Please be able to reply at least once or twice a week. Sometimes responses take a while to craft, I’ve definitely needed a day or two to be able to think of what to write before. If you can respond multiple times a day, even better!

Be open to dark and mature themes. Violence, swearing, alcohol and drug use. I love angst so sometimes things happen. However, if you have any limits, don’t be afraid to tell me. I would never want to make you feel uncomfortable. I want this to be fun for the both of us.

Original Plots/Characters and Fandoms

I have a few plots in mind already, but if you have something you’d like to do too, let me know. I also just have a couple of oc’s that I’ve never gotten the chance to do anything with but I have no plots for them. So if you have any ideas you want to try with one of my oc’s, please tell me. For now I’ll keep the ideas pretty basic and explain in more detail when we start talking

Original Plot: Two girls go on a cross continental drive searching for a guy that one girl thinks she’s in love with and the other is the guys younger sister. Over the course of their journey they find that they are slowly falling for each other. Spoiler alert, the guy is a total tool that left them both behind at some point.

Original Plot:  Original Plot: A princess is betrothed to a prince of an allied kingdom since birth but has never met him. One year before their wedding they finally meet at a party. The princess also meets their sister and the two instantly take a liking to each other. The other princess recently has been engaged to the prince of a rival kingdom in hopes of creating peace. (May contain fantasy elements, up to you.)

Fandom: The Mummy AU. A priestess has been brought back from the dead, to the fear of the medjai. Since they don’t know how to kill her, they manage to capture her and a female medjai is assigned to watch over her. When the priestess is no longer deemed a huge threat, she free to leave but not without an escort. Cue the medjai and priestess leaving and trying to integrate into normal society, and possibly develop feelings.

Fandom: Hancock AU. A pair of immortal soulmates with powers always find each other in life and are happy together, but as they spend time together, they lose their abilities and become human. Unlike the others that paired up and became human, these two always part ways so that they never have to worry about losing each other. Someone wants them dead and not wanting to see the other hurt, one leaves for the last time to save the others life.

Fandom OC: Anastazija Catalina Ani Dragomir- A moroi princess with spirit powers from the Vampire Academy book series

OC: Lena Floros- A wendigo with the ability to change forms.

OC: Sanania Dawsonelle- A water fairy with the ability to shrink and grow as she pleases

Is my Teen! Sole so in 2287, she’d be 229 years old. Having been 19 when she went into Vault 111 back in 2077.

Nora and Nate are her parents, Shaun is her baby brother.

Dated the girl in the Jewelry Store Vault located in Fallon’s Department Store from the time they first met when they were 13, her death hurt worse than her father’s for some reason.

Nora died several months before the bombs dropped in a car accident.

She adored Shaun before the bombs dropped but HATES him now that he’s the leader of the Institute.

She has only one friend that’s still alive and he’s a Ghoul, they attended High School together prewar. Is super tight with Hancock, Cait, Fahrenheit, Piper, and Nick though.

In love with Desdemona (although in game I cannot romance her so I romanced Piper)

Has a morning routine where she does at least 100-200 pulls ups on the monkey bars located in the play ground in Sanctuary.

Desdemona named her Wanderer cause she didn’t approve of Valkyrie wanting to be named Valhalla.

Often yells at people who treat her like a kid, telling them she’s older than everyone (except prewar ghouls unless they were younger than her already) and they need to shut up before she makes them.

Took every single intact Vault 111 suit from the vault and wears one every day.

Dogmeat is her loyal companion and goes everywhere with her.

Does everything in her fucking power to bring the Minutemen, Brotherhood of Steel, and Railroad together to destroy the institute.

Elena (lvl 48)

Brotherhood Knight-Commander.

Is from the Capital Wasteland.

The middle child out of 5 and one of the last 3 who are still alive.

Her parents and both of her older brothers were raiders.

Was saved by Proctor Ingram from being killed by her parents when she was 18. Ingram killed her father and two brothers but let her mother live, her mother promising to leave her alone in exchange for her own live.

Has been a member of the Brotherhood of Steel for 10 years.

She really hates Elder Maxson, his whole “Synths need to be destroyed” outlook and how the Brotherhood treats Ghouls.

Is super in love with Proctor Ingram. (again cause I can’t romance her in came I romanced Piper...and Cait lol)

Might have had sex with Scribe Haylen a couple of times.

Met the Lone Wanderer at one point when she lived back in the Capital Wasteland. (I cannot remember her name O_O lol might need to make a new one)

Loves grilled Cram with corn...don’t you judge her.

Was apart of the Brotherhood when Ingram lost both of her legs, she stayed by Ingram’s bed until she woke up two weeks after the incident.

Was sent to the Commonwealth before the Prydwen showed up as a form of punishment cause she might have punched Ingram in the face for insulting her mother...yes the mother that tried to kill her ten years ago.

Ends up in a close friendship with my Teen! Sole.

I got board and I was stuck in my fanfic, which will be mainly following Valkyrie but I’m writing another fanfic following Elena but her's won’t be as long as Valkyrie’s. 

Also I’m really disappointed i couldn’t romance Desdemona or Proctor Ingram :( like really? I loved those two. I have another character who would appear in my fanfic but I haven’t made her in game yet, when I do I’ll post a her up here :)

Eddie plays: Red (IMDb link)

We saw Hancock at the cinema before knowing who Eddie was; we wanted to see The Dark Knight, but it was full. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯  Out of a sense of duty, we watched it again for the binge.

The film had such potential, but the writing is so lazy it’s irritating. It flits between a comedy, a superhero flick and a love story, and simply doesn’t try hard enough. Anyone paying attention, undistracted by the special effects, will notice how each new piled-on plot point results in far too many holes. They had a good idea, but a good idea can only carry a film so far and, in the end, it just gets silly.

Hancock (Will Smith) is an alcoholic with superpowers who lives on the streets of LA. If there’s something criminal happening, and he feels like helping, he causes millions of dollars’ worth of damage because he’s either drunk or simply unaware of the consequences of his actions. A series of convenient TV news reports inform the audience that Hancock’s been doing this for a long time and public attitude towards him is hostile. Once he’s attempting to clean up his act and regain the public’s trust, Hancock crosses the path of Kenneth “Red” Parker Jr. (Eddie).

Red (always sporting a red item of clothing, how clever), is first seen robbing a bank while keeping hostages. Hancock saves the hostages, cutting off Red’s hand in the process, and Red is thrown in jail. Within a week, Red convinces other inmates to escape and, out of revenge, tracks Hancock down. Again, we only learn who Red is through a convenient TV news report. The blink-and-you’ll-miss-it report explains that Red, a former psychology professor at Stanford University, is a criminal mastermind who uses psychological persuasion to organise criminals of diverse backgrounds. Despite his miniscule amount of screen time, Red becomes the bad guy to Hancock’s emerging inner good guy. But, as this is Hancock, he’s also the film’s comic relief: Red screams like a girl, offers therapy and (hook)hand holding to two of his fellow inmates after Hancock shoves one of their heads up the other’s ass (seriously), and, as you can see from our favourite moment below, gets some funny lines.

The film is weak in almost every aspect, though the actors try their best with what they’ve been given which, in Eddie’s case, is next to nothing. However, Eddie’s revealed some layers to Red’s character over the years. He filmed his first scene as Red two days after Mike Leigh’s Happy-Go-Lucky wrapped (we’ve yet to review it!)

And one last thing... according to Total Film Magazine (we’re dubious) Eddie also had this to say about Red in 2010:

“My first big Hollywood baddie... You don’t see it in the movie but whenever he’s in prison, he’s surrounded by massive, muscle-bound black guys. He was gay, basically, and he loved to control these people and yet also was being fucked by them. They took all that out because they were going for a younger audience.” [Source]

Red was a two-dimensional character and didn’t have enough screen time for us to form much of an opinion for the cuteometer. Yes, he did some bad things, but we were also supposed to laugh at him and find him funny. The writers didn’t care about his crimes that much so neither do we - he gets a six.

We’re finding it hard to keep rating bad films one star; it feels lazy. So let us explain ourselves on this occasion. Hancock is bad but it isn’t awful. We didn’t hate every moment of it. In pursuit of fairness, we’ve compared it to a film we did truly hate, I Want Candy, which warranted zero stars. One is better than zero, so that’s what Hancock receives.

Male Companions react to realizing they’re not as straight as they thought thanks to Sole - Part III

Hancock: (this is ignoring the fact that he also gets men commenting on tours of the town then ;) He’s probably the character of which the whole bisexuality thing is the most ‘present’ in the story regardless of which gender Sole is.) Hancock had noticed Sole, in a way which could hardly be considered platonic  from the get-go. You don’t just shiv a guy with that level of arrogance, no matter how much of a pest he was being, if you didn’t want to leave some kind of impression. Not that he didn’t have it comin’, ya can’t just go around threatning people in his town, but he did consciously make it a show. Hancock had noticed him entering the town, and immediately knew it was a matter of time before they’d either want to gauge the other’s eyes out or would end up inseperable… with some people ya just know. Hancock considered himself lucky it was the second, considering Sole seemed damn near as good as him at a show of dominance on a bad day. The man carried himself with a confidence that was just too damn good to look away from. There had been flirting, as he did with anyone, and hell, he’d be lying if he said he hadn’t seriously thought about it,.. but now he looked at Sole brutally taking down a serial killer without second thought Sole just managed to pique his interest  a little more. He felt something was shifting between them, the flirting got more serious and his own thoughts got a little more… impure with every turn. But it was more than that,Hancock was drawn to Sole’s need to do the right thing because it was a rarity. To make matters worse, there was this charisma which seemed to surround Sole like aura, affecting anyone around him.  If he hadn’t felt it before, Hancock knew now more than ever that sexuality is indeed a spectrum. But he knew he got it bad this time ‘round, the first time in forever he wouldn’t mind being tied down by a relationship. No good woman had ever been able to tame him… and watching Sole greased and bruised up he realised perhaps all he needed all along was that specific man. Sole turned around with another angry glance at the body at his feet as he hissed ‘Bastard’. When he turned around he noticed Hancock in the corner, staring at him intently. “What?” Hancock raised one eyebrow and grinned. Sole inhaled deeply before he started to rant, letting out some residue of anger in the process; “He had it coming, coulda saved some people if I had gotten to him sooner. I’ve seen you grab a dagger for worse reasons than…” “ Hey, I get it, blood for blood. I’m just enjoying the view. “ “ Yeah, ‘bout that, what does that even fucking mean? “ “ How ‘bout you tell me what you want it to mean?”

MacCready: Maccready was slow to trust people, if there was anything he learned from the state the Commonwealth was in, from the state every single place he had ever seen, it was that people in the end only look after themselves. If you’re not connected to another by blood… betrayal would follow sooner or later, as soon as a good enough deal to be had was on the table. Actually, even family ties were severed for less than what he’d consider a good deal. Sole… proved different somehow. MacCready was eternally grateful for his help with Duncan’s medicine but something else started to seep through. He wasn’t just grateful for that, he also was because Sole gave him a sense of purpose again, something to fight for which wasn’t just switching off any thinking and doing what he was told. No matter what that was. His life had been about survival for so long… he had forgotten what it was like to really live it. Until Sole reminded him. He was far from oblivious to the fact that he started to develop some sort of feelings towards Sole but pushed them aside. He wouldn’t be able to love again like he did Lucy and Sole deserved better than that. Not to mention, Sole himself also lost his big love… and that wound was more fresh than his own. Even if one was ready how the hell could the other be? So he kept it under wraps, trying to come up with more reasons why it wouln’t work to keep him from getting too attached. Reminding himself that people leave. One; he couldn’t do it again. Love and maybe lose. No. Two; It was a bad idea to fall for the boss. Then again, he didn’t now what way, nor did he know to which extent he was even supposed to see Sole as his boss anymore. They’d been through hell and back together… surely they were at least friends by now… right? Three; damn he looked good in something else than that vault suit. Those arms alone… his jawline … ah for f… friend’s sake. In this instance, his eyes lingered on Sole when he was trying to barter with someone on the price of ammo, bringing his charm to the table once more . At some point the shop keeper turned around to look for money and Sole looked behind him and winked at MacCready, as if to say ‘done deal’. As soon as he was done, Sole walked off to another store, probably to sell off some other junk still. The woman at the counter was looking dreamily at Sole, and MacCready gave up not trying to look in the same direction. The woman sighed; “Your friend is awfully persuasive isn’t he?” “ Awfully…” And that, that was the moment he knew it was a lost cause to even try to fight it. He’d follow Sole to the ends of the earth, indebted to him or not.

 Happy Monday, minna-san! I hope everyone enjoyed their Easter day with friends and family. Not into the holiday, but we do like munching on the sweets they sell at the stores. You can’t pass up chocolate. All righty! Enough talk about sweets, we have tons of goods and news to share with you so you know the drill. First off, last week’s chapter really tipped off a lot of fans to see that Sanji’s sweet comment to Pudding’s third eye made her weak on her knees to hear someone call her beautiful. Despite her being different, Sanji sees beauty any girl. Except for okama. That is not beauty to him. Anyway, with Pudding stalling the plan to kill Sanji, BM’s plan is ruined, and to make matters worse, her wedding cake is eaten by a bunch of Luffy clones making their grand entrance. GUA! Too bad, so sad! NOT! Anyway, no cake for Big Mom, let’s see how ballistic she’ll get this week’s chapter. Also, next week, the story will take another break. I know, constant breaks, but you have to let Oda-sensei take a breather so he can recuperate for a bit. Be patient. This past weekend’s episode was really nerve wrecking. Poor Luffy is suffering from the poison he ate from the fish, and we finally meet Yonji and Reige. As the gang beg Yonji for help, he refused and threatens them, but alas, the beautiful big sis, Reige, puts him in his place. Next week, let’s see if Reige is kind enough to lend a hand to save Luffy. Now on with the news! First off, as you already know, the cover for vol.85 has been released last week that has Luffy and the gang with Reige in the middle. It will cover from Chopper stuck in Mirror World to Luffy meeting Capone. It will be released on May 2nd during Golden week. Next, guess who’s the lucky monkey whose birthday is approaching? I’ll give a hint: he wears a straw hat. DUH! It’s none other than the future king of the pirates, Luffy-kun! His birthday is on May 5th which is Children’s day! Oda-sensei drew Luffy to show his support. GUA! Home is where his heart is. Gotta love the green nature. Last, but not least, last week, our Mugiwara seiyuu and staff got a visit from Jinbei’s seiyuu, Katsuhisa Hoki-san. GUA! He’s so happy to be back as Jinbei and possibly, and hopefully, pray that he will be the 10th member of the Mugiwara gang. Cross fingers! PHEW! I think we covered everything. Well, that’s all we got. My 2018 New Year’s Resolution was to read 100 books.  I did not accomplish that goal this year.  I was 16 books short.  The prior year, I read only 64 books.  This year, I read 20 more books than the previous year for a total of 84 books.  That’s not bad.  That’s 1.6 books each week.  

If I keep this up, I’ll be able to finally reach my goal of 100 books in 2019. 

Along the way to my goal, I discovered the secret to getting in an extra book a week.  On Sundays, I choose an easy read that’s 225 pages or less and read it in one day.  Of course, I didn’t discover how this could help my numbers until I was 3/4 of the way into the year.  

In 2018, I became more selective with what I chose to read instead of reading whatever is sent to me.  I am fortunate that the books I read were the ones that helped me grow this year.  I learned so much from every single book, but more importantly, I learned more about myself this past year.  

All 84 of the books I read this year helped me to answer the questions burning inside of me.  They educated me.  I learned that everything happens for a reason, and books can find their way into your hands when you need them the most.  In May, I was asked to leave New York and travel the world indefinitely with this guy I’ve been crushing on for the last 7 years.  When I decided to stay, I realized what was really going on in the grander scheme of the universe.  This beautiful man was trying to wake me up and free me from the cage I had built around myself since the tumor was removed (2013).  I was blind to what I had done to myself out of fear.

As my crush left for Tibet, Tal Gur contacted me and asked if I would like a copy of his book to review.  I read it and thought to myself…WOW.  This was the book I needed in this moment.  I understood what I needed to do.  I needed to free myself so that the next time when the hottest guy I know offers me the world, I will be in a position where I can drop everything and run away with him, because in my heart, that’s what I really wanted to do.  

Publishers and authors sent their books.  As I read each one, I realized that each book isn’t just an escape from this horrible 2018.  It was also the universe’s guide book into helping me get back on my feet again, to seeing what I was doing to myself out of fear, but most importantly shining the beam of light to show me how to be me again.

Sometimes it was the entire story, or it was just a sentence or a paragraph.  All 84 of the books listed below were the words I needed in 2018.  

The Best of the Best

For those looking for some ideas on what to read, these are the books that I found to be the best reads of 2018.

The Books I Curated Into My Library: For the books I thought were the best of the best were very few.  It’s a given that I curate all autographed copies and classical literature into my library.  But the books that entered into my collection based on its own merits (i.e. the books I would want saved for mankind to read if there was some cataclysmic end) are as follows:  Slade House, Hag, The Air You Breathe, Melmoth, The Mermaid and Mrs. Hancock, Scribe, Dietland, Neverwhere, Sommelier of Deformity, The Stuff of Stars, Everything Happens for a Reason, A Higher Loyalty, Anansi Boys, and The Tuner of Silences.

The Stuff I Learned from Self-Help:  This year was a tough year.  I literally fell apart.  My poor work husband spent most of this year trying to put me back together again.  When he wasn’t around, I read a lot of self-help books to try to get back to who I was.  Of all the books I read, I think The Abundance Project and Make Peace with Money were two of the most important books, because they speak my language.   At work, the Speed Reading book taught me how to perfect my craft (reading). 

What really helped me in understanding why everything was happening was Everything Happens for a Reason.  When one of my colleagues left to travel the world, Tal Gur contacted me about his book, The Art of Fully Living.  I made the difficult decision to not run off with my colleague.  While I do regret doing so, I thought…maybe my circumstances will change.  Gur’s book helped me to make the decision to free myself from the cage I built around myself that prevented me from running off with the hottest guy I know who was trying to give me the entire world. The Best YA/Children’s Books: When I tell publishers I read almost everything, that includes children’s books.  Oh, and I love YA.  Besides Brad Meltzer’s “I Am” collection (I curate all of his titles into my library, because he signs everything I have), I curated in The Stuff of Stars.  When I met the author, there was a moment between us when she asked me to read/review her book.  I haven’t written about her book yet, because I don’t know how to describe it beyond it being the most wonderful children’s book I’ve ever read.  It gave me goosebumps.  I cried at the end because it was so beautiful.  I thought…if I had a kid, this is exactly how I would feel telling them the story of how they came to be in my life.  It was just…I have no words.  The story took my breath away.  I feel like this book became a little secret in my life that I want to tell the world, but I don’t know how to accurately describe how this book made me feel.  So parents…pick up the book.  Read it to yourself and then decide. 

As for the others, Prince & Knight was beautifully done.  Loved it!  To finish off the year, I ended with Wundersmith, Book 2 in the Nevermoor series.  I love this series.  It sucks that I have to wait for Book 3 now.  [Review: Nevermoor]

Proper Romance Changed Me: I have a rule.  Or maybe I should say I had a rule.  I don’t do romance books.  But Shadow Mountain Publishing changed my mind about romance books when they launched their Proper Romance group.  The book that changed me was Promises and Primroses.  Lies, Love, and Breakfast at Tiffany’s followed.  They even have a steampunk series that I’ve been trying to finish (when I’m not trying to meet deadlines).  What I like about their stories is that it’s not mushy all unrealistic lovey dovey romcom books.  There’s no over the top “well this is just unrealistic” love stories.  It’s all PG rated.  None of that 50 Shades stuff I turn up my nose to.  In other words, it’s a clean romance.  It’s the way I like stories to be told (in a Jane Austen kind of way), especially because I am the type that will vomit after I say the words “be in a relationship with” or “get married.” [Review: Lies, Love and Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Christmas by Accident]   

The Scary & the SciFi Books: I read a lot of the Cirque du Freak series this year.  I have two books left.  Neil Gaiman’s books are excellent.  American Gods is still my favorite, but Anansi Boys and Neverwhere were just as good.  Erik Therme’s Roam scared me.  Scribe was one of the best ghost stories I’ve read in a while.  Melmoth made my mouth drop.  It disturbed me so much, I had to text my brother (who never reads) about it.  Did I mention I curated Melmoth into my library?  Hag was excellent (my first book I’ve read that has roots in Scotland).   But the story that really scared me this year was David Mitchell’s Slade House (another curated book).  

The Best Stories:  The stories I really enjoyed in 2018 beyond the ones mentioned above are: Before We Were Yours, The Air You Breathe, The Mermaid and Mrs. Hancock, Sommelier of Deformity, Dietland, The Escape Artist, The Girl You Left Behind, and The Other Side of the Bridge.

The Book Deserves Its Own Category: James Comey.  A Higher Loyalty.  The book was excellent…until the last 3 chapters.  This book helped me to understand my guys a lot better, because they used to work with Comey.  There’s so much about leadership that I recommend for all lawyers/public officials to read.  But the parts that really stood out to me is how he found a silver lining in life when he was faced with tragedy.  It made me understand the book Everything Happens for a Reason so much better. Food:  Every single cookbook I read this year was so amazing.  I loved Siriously Delicious so much, I bought the book.  Then I found out Siri Daly was signing the book.  I showed up and told her who I was and she said she read my review and loved it.  Copycat Cooking from Six Sisters’ Stuff is also one of my all-time favorite cookbooks now.  The In N Out Burger and fries recipes were so much better than the real thing.  I can’t visualize a burger any other way now.  Glow 15 made me look at caring for myself differently now.  I take different vitamins now and eat differently because of it.  I recommend all 3 of these books.  [Reviews: Siriously Delicious, Copycat Cooking, Glow 15]

The Classics:  My work husband saw Villette sitting on my desk and he asked me about it.  He was a literature major in college, so naturally, he would ask.  I didn’t have the heart to tell him why I was reading it.  It’s a book you read when your heart has been broken.  It’s about unrequited love.  It took me most of the year to read it, but when I got to the end, I sat there heartbroken for Charlotte Bronte.  My friend was going through something similar where someone was in love with her and acting like M. Paul.  She couldn’t understand his crazy.  I explained to her what was really going on.  Men haven’t changed so much in the last 200 years. 

I finally read another monster classic: The Invisible Man.  I will say I was unimpressed.  The Legend of Sleepy Hollow read exactly like the Disney cartoon.  Kudos to Disney!  I don’t understand why Of Mice and Men is a classic.  I’m wondering if it has more to do with the language Steinbeck chose.  The highlight and uplifting classic of the year beyond Villette was T.S. Eliot’s Four Quartets.  It had a very profound affect on me. 

I also finally read The Great Gatsby.  I read it alongside The Art of X-Ray Reading by Roy Peter Clark.  It helped me to really understand the depths of how beautiful this book is.  I do not recommend reading The Great Gatsby without Clark’s commentary (it’s only a chapter in X-Ray).  You will miss the importance of some of the elements used in the book, like color.    

Best Non-Fiction: Slave Stealers.  I learned so much about slavery then and now.  It’s not so different.  The providence at work for Tim Ballard and his team as they try to free children from the depths of hell just amazed me.  I remember sitting in bed, reading, exclaiming out loud, “No fucking way!”  Just amazing to see the Universe working to help people who are saving the innocents.  I highly recommend this book about real life work around the world to stop human trafficking (aka slavery).  [Review]

I’m sat here on a Sunday night, writing this after a pretty awesome weekend. You know one of those weekends when you haven’t stopped and feel like you need another weekend off to recover? Yeah one of those.

We’ve had an amazing one though, albeit very National Trust themed. We wanted to put our membership to good use this year and we’ve started well. We popped along to Erddig on Saturday afternoon to have a play on their Fantastical Winter Toybox trail, which the kids absolutely loved. A perfect way to spend the afternoons. Then today we tried Attingham Park for the first time and were so impressed. It is absolutely stunning and we can’t wait to head back in the spring when it’s a little warmer and we can adventure a little further. As the kids are still so young, we don’t even attempt to go inside the houses at these properties so we’re always looking for new places to explore that has plenty of room for the kids to explore and burn of energy. Something that Attingham has in spades. As it was we were out there for around 3 hours and by the time we got back to the car, the kids were shivering. Roll on warmer weather!

READ

I’ve just finished Tideline by Penny Hancock – a review will be up on the blog soon – though I’m not sure how this one made me feel. It was very well written and compulsive reading, but the overall feeling is that it made me feel….uncomfortable. I think. My review of Gone Girl is up on the blog which I finish a week or so ago (and absolutely LOVED) and I’m so pleased that I’m already 3 books into my 2018 book challenge. Hopefully I’ll finish this one! I’m about to start The Power by Naomi Alderman as part of my Facebook book club so wish me luck!

We’ve also at bedtime now pulled out Darcie’s copy of The Little Girl Who Lost Her Name.  My parents bought her (and also Henry) their own copy a long time ago now but although she’s always liked the pictures, until now she’s always been a little too young to sit through the full story. However, for the past few nights she’s been utterly captivated by it.

WATCHED

Nothing has really stood out for me under watched this week, though a few weeks ago I finished my binge watch of The Sinner on Netflix which I thought was just amazing. Though technically last week, hubby and I sat down and watched a whole movie together which was great. We have so much on our watchlist waiting to plough though, but we went with Flight with Denzel Washington.

We thought it was great. You feel like it’s not quite the ending you want – as he really was a nice guy underneath it all and he did save over 90 people – but it was the right ending.

HEARD

The Bear has been hilarious this week, it’s amazing the kind of thing she comes out with now. My favourites of the weeks include: “you’re my best friend” (to me), “your butt stinks” (to Henry), and “saggy balls, what’s saggy balls?” (to the whole room….yeah don’t ask!)

MADE

We’ve had a great time making our toilet roll necklaces again this week and also these great decorated pebbles – how to post coming soon. I’ve also been making more fresh dinners in the kitchen this week, with varying success. These chicken and ham hock pies were awesome though. Really delicious.

WORE

It’s so cold and windy out at the moment, my uniform is pretty much set as boots, leggings, jumpers and a warm coat. It’s not very often that I give in and wear a coat, but at this time of year it’s definitely needed. Even for me. Oh, and let’s not forget the child on my shoulders that I seem to have worn all weekend.

To be fair we’ve been out and about walking every day and they’ve done really well to keep up. However, little legs get tired easily so we’ve had a little person each on our shoulders or in our arms. They don’t half make them ache after a little while. We should really take the pram with us more, but she stopped using one almost 2 years ago now and at 18 months he just doesn’t want to be pinned in anymore. It doesn’t help that some of the places we trek to aren’t always pram friendly!

AND LASTLY

I joined fat club (again) last week. I have started well and lost 1.5 lbs but it’s not been a good week at all this week. Our meals have been great all the way until the weekend, but my snacking as gotten a little out of hand. It’s just so hard with so much yummy Christmas food on hand. We’ll have to see what the scales say come Tuesday though.
