Hana had an abortion. The guy she almost married didn’t agree to keep the child and she wasn’t ready for serious commitment. Especially when the man declared the break up of their engagement, moved out from their apartment and she was left alone to deal with the situation. She didn’t dare say it to anyone, so she mastered up the courage and went to her gynecologist to have the abortion by herself. She had a lot of inner conflict about her decision so the doctor gave her some advice. Think about it a bit more… sadly the fetus wasn’t healthy and when she had started accepting it she had to undergo the surgery.

Honestly, it’s really rare for Hana to smile if you aren’t Rin. She doesn’t show much emotion, mostly just deadpan expressions. If she smiles and talks more than just a word or two to you, then it’s more than likely she thinks of you more fondly than most. It’s more common with Rin that she smiles, since he’s her boyfriend.
