Many people have talked about the Japanese influence of the Little Nightmares game - more precisely how the games offered themselves as a nightmarish and twisted Ghibli movie, what Miyazaki would have created for a Silent Hill game.
But I don't see many people talk about the French style and influence of the games...
Yes, I said French. It might surprise you, but one of the main sources for the aesthetic and tone of the games is a set of French works. The creators of Little Nightmares have been pretty clear in interviews that the movies of Jean-Pierre Jeunet were a big design and concept influence for the game. Now, Jean-Pierre Jeunet is most famous for his slightly absurd romance-comedy Amélie Poulain... But it was his two other most famous movies that inspired the Little Nightmares world.
On one side: Delicatessen
In a post-apocalyptic world, a building stands alone in the middle of the ruins of a city... A block of flats, each one hosting weird and excentric people: a tenant lives in water-filled rooms infested with snails and frogs, another keeps trying to kill herself with incredibly complex and extravagant suicide plans, others are dedicated creators of moo boxes... But all of them live under the domination and tyrany of the butcher whose shop is located at the base of the building: he is the one who provides the meat for all those who live above him, and thus has full authority over them, and nobody asks where it comes from...
One day, a new janitor arrives. A naive former circus clown, a gentle but farcical man who soon falls in love with the shy and secluded musician-daughter of the butcher. Unfortunately, it proves to be an actual fairytale as the janitor didn't just fell in love with a princess high up in her tower... but with the daughter of the ogre, for all the janitors before our protagonist mysteriously disappeared right with every new "meat supplies" delivery... The sweet and touching budding romance of these two youths in a no man's land soon turns into horror as the shadow of the butcher's cleaver falls upon them, and as the madness of the buildings' tenants keep increasing to absurd levels.
And what seems to be the couple's only hope? A secret network of sewer-dwelling, vegetarian terrorists that the butcher's daughter contacts in secret...
On the other side: La cité des enfants perdus
While Delicatessen was a dark comedy (or an humoristic horror, depending on which side you take it), The City of Lost Children is much harder to categorize as Jeunet (and Marc Caro, who also co-created Delicatessen) fully delve into the urban nightmare, the obscure poetry, the dark fairytale, the disturbing children story.
La Cité des Enfants perdus is the story of a mad scientist who lives in a derelict oil platform at sea, surrounded by various "failed" experiments (idiotic clones, a dwarf-wife, a brain in a jar). Unable to dream, he decides to capture the children of the nearest portuary town, in order to steal their dreams for himself - and he performs these crimes with the help of a strange cult of one eyed men referred to as the "cyclops".
One day, the scientist kidnaps the little brother of a simple-minded former circus strongman called "One". Determined to find him back, One teams up with miette (Crumb), a clever and cynical street-urchin girl ; however, their quest to find the secret of the Cyclops is made even more complicated by the presence of the Pieuvre (Octopus), cruel and greedy conjoined twins who are the boss of the children-thief network Miette belonged to, and hatch nefarious plans in light of the recent events...
In a way you could say that Jean-Pierre Jeunet is a sort of French Terry Gilliam. He has a very unique and distinctive style when it comes to his movies, something halway between a realistic Guillermo del Toro and a dirty Wes Anderson. His movies are still to this day a weir, but cult, part of French cinema.
And... Little Nightmares borrowed heavily from them. The large One and the little girl Crumb teaming up to save a child from a sea-dwelling villain becomes Six fighting for her life in the sea-faring Maw against the Lady. The butchering cannibalism of Delicatessen can be found back ; the water-infested flat of the elderly frog-raiser can evoke the Granny's quarters, while the strange suicide plans of the depressed tenant evoke the various "puzzles" of the game. The school run by the Octopus (stern school-teachers by day, vicious crime-lords at night) brings back to mind the school of Little Nightmares 2, and so forth and so on. Plus, of course, the strange technology: these two movies thrive on weird contraptions and strange buildings and never-ending pipes and other bizarre soul-sucking machinery, all elements that were very determinant in the visuals of the Little Nightmares universe.
If you ever wondered what a Little Nightmares movie would feel like... These movies could be of some help. Do yourself a marathon of Ghibli movies and Terry Gilliam ones intercut with Jeunet's pieces, and you could recreate yourself a strange Little Nightmares-flavored experience.

this idea came to me at night just as i was going to sleep so it might be a mess but hear me out:
andrew and neil have been pros for a few years now
aaron and katelyn are doctors, married and already have their twin daughters, who are still toddlers
aaron and andrew talk regularly and andreil visits them on holidays etc
then aaron and katelyn get great job offers, but they have to move to the same city as andreil
of course they ask for their help to find a house/apartment, and ta-da! the place with the best space and price is the apartment that's not only in the same building but in the same halway as andreil's
and without any of the four realising they start sort of co-parenting with andreil, full-house style
anyway that's the idea, andreil being very present in the girls' lives
(but they also need their breaks and go traveling just the two of them every once in a while)

Darth epic makeover
Me: "Oh, what a pretty..."
Cat: "NOT A CAT!"
Me: "Yes I know, you're in disguise... still pretty, though, in your tuxedo classic. So, what do you think?"
Samkat the Great: "looks decent so far, but then, you always were a half competent builder, in the yonder days of ye Olde TSD kingdom..."
Me: "You even have your own private appartement!"
STG: "Yes I the bed is nice, wake me from nap with lobster offering from my designated minion in a few hours, the trip was hard... "
Me: "You teleported a few meters from the door, only a minute away"
STG:"It is raining, I got wet and have sensitive paws... AND there was no minion with hot towels and hair dryer... Who is the Minion, BTW? Someone I know?"
Me:"You know what? I don't think you two ever met, actually. It's Darth. Sorta incompetent evil, but she can be fun..."
STG:"how so?"
Me:"well, if you hide under the bed for a moment, she's comming up here for her relooking... I thinh you'll have fun!"
Darth:"So I thougt about it and I have ideas to make me look like Miranda Merrick..."
Me and STG: "Uh?"
Darth:"Some echo in there... but let's go and NRAAS me up!"
(Honestly, the Merrick look, looks a bit out of reach to me)
Darth: "But I know what will suit me! Listen, I'm still a forest witch (sorta)... so I was thinking mushroom?
Me:"well, I'll try..."
STG: "I think I'm going to pee in my fur!"
Darth:"This one?"
Me:"Darth, lemme be honest he ... (STG: Nooo, I'm having too much fun!)... You're chubby. I should know. And flashy colors in wild prints are not our style, trust me.
Darth: "not even bats?"
Me:"ESPECIALLY NOT BATS!!!" Okay, why don't you try something a bit less colorfull, eh?"
Me: "Ok, that one is halway palatable. I guess the gosties help with the mass to lug around ..."
Ghosties: "Happy to be of service, Ma'am!"
Me:"But we should keep that one for special occasion. We don't want to tire the ghosties too much and have a wardrobe incident during Shamain, now do we?"
Darth:"But I wanna be a modern and sexy witch!"
Me: "Let me try."
Darth:"That's a bit..."
Me:"Well, at least it's modern! Sexy is debatable, but trus me, nodody is going to be able to miss that ass once it's on a broom."
Darth: "I'm going to ask Mirror...
Darth:"So, what do you think?"
Mirror:"I was there and saw the other stuff...Keep that. And beware the ca..."
STG:"NOT A CAT!"
Darth: "Who? What? Oh is this my familiar?"
STG:"Okay you big pumpkin, I had a good laugh but lets get down to serious business. I want three hot meals everyday, the gastronomic kind, don't try to give me those disgusting pellets. I will tolerate pets IF I'm in the mood... And if I'm not, you'll know fast.
Oh and don't forget snacks and the best bit of whatever you're eating, too..."
Darth:"Ah, yes, speaking of snacks, My favourite, gelified brains! The last batch has a delish radioactive flavor!"
STG:"Okay, cancel the la bit...
... I guess that broom is gonna have to do some quite heavy lifting.
To be continued (maybe)

Pt 3 of my tmnt sketchbook tour 😤
The final sketch dump! Random info under the cut ^^
A quick human design of leo in a rise esque style lol
Some screenshot redraws of said leo human design
An incomplete human design of donnie that i got frustrated with halway bc it doesnt look quite like him
A brains brawn fusion where hes essentially the equivalent of a sports statistics commentator with the genius to make large explosive canons lol
More of that brains brawn fusion idea but with more emphasis on the battle shell that is shaped like raphs regular shell. He has 4 eyes and arms and likes to break things in the name of science lmao
Some doodles of my 4wayseparated au but this time leo! He doesnt wear a mask bc he was raised w big mama and wears regular clothes tailored to be liu jitsu inspired. Also hes the battle nexus champ 3 years strong :)
More drawings of my version of leo when i was first fleshing him out +scars he got
Aaaaand more 4wayseparated au drawings!! This one of raph and cassandra and then donnie and april. Raph is raised by the foot clan and of course casey is his best friend. Donnie is the only one raised by splinter and april is his only friend lol
More 4wayseparated au but of mikey this time, just fleshing out his design. His clothing is more based on his future self, as hes raised by draxum and has a head start on his mystic powers
Last but not least! My au raph and mikey just standing next to each being awkward lol but also me comparing their fits to make sure theyre not too similar

holy shit. raph face study time
Leo's Face
So, just like last time, I grabbed a reference image.
Then, I traced the original image to get a feel for the shapes. (TRACING IS A VALID TOOL!! Don't be afraid to utilize it!!)
Here is where we go south.
Ref 1 and 2 are back-to-back. Night and day... :,)
The main issue I was having was size and length. Raph's face is blocky and wide. I could not grasp the concept...
And so, I went back to the original traced image. I traced over that with black and the polyline tool to get straight and defined lines.
I used this version to identify the main shapes that make up Raph. His bottom jaw is kind of like a dented trapezoid. The way that I understood it was that halway down the trapezoid is where the little dent is. His upper half is a slanted hexagon with the bottom two sides taken off.
With this knowledge, I did a third drawing with reference.
Now we've got it down! His eyes are normally less cartoony, but my style tends to exaggerate eyes.
All that's left was to freehand and test my understanding!
Jesus... Raph was super difficult. No clue why I did him second :,)
Notes/understanding:
Raph's face is square and blocky, with a couple... divets? It feels really chiseled, and it's also straight. Like more up and down, if that makes sense.
His snout (? chin?) is Smaller Than You Think. It's pretty short, and it took me a while to figure that out.
There's some things you can get away with, like expressive eyes, but Raph is intended to be like a... boulder. He's supposed to look strong (because he is) and his face reflects that.
Mask tails? Don't know her.
Overall, Raph was a struggle :,) I'm super duper bad at drawing every part of him, no clue why. It's probably because my style tends to be more curvy and loose, less rigid.
Thoughts? Questions? Let me know! Hit me with 'em!

Exploring Delhi's Timeless Architectural Wonders: A Guide to Historic Monuments
Introduction:
New Delhi the capital city of India which comparatively is not a very old city is equally blessed with architectural beauty as any city can be. Tourist can admire perfectly preserved temples, burial vats, and large mosques are that narrate history. If travelling is tiring and one needs to relax in the evening, book any of the comfortable hotels in Delhi. Here is list of some of the architectural giants that a tourist should not miss while on tour to Delhi.
Humayun's Tomb:
Humayun Tomb was build by Haji Begum for her dead husband Humayun, and encompasses one of world heritage through UNESCO because it is the first garden tomb in the Indian subcontinent. Made out of red sand stone this truly marvelous building served as an inspiration for the building of the Taj Mahal. Even though comparatively smaller in size and not much famous as Taj Mahal but the history behind Humayun’s Tomb and the love story associated with it is just as beautiful.
Red Fort:
The structures that have political significance are the red fort which was built during the reign of Shah Jahan. Unlike many Indiana accessible today, a lot of the rich regalia of the Mughal court is still captured in the forts architecture. Inside the fort building areas some of the important and more famous structures as part of Agra Fort are – Diwan-I-Aam, Diwan-I-Khas, Rang Mahal, Khas Mahal, Hamam, Delhi Gate, Lahori Gate, Moti Masjid, Naubat Khana, Hira Mahal and Shahi Burj. The architectural design of the fort is influence by Islamic,Persian,Timurid and Hindu architectural designing and provides a glance of royal lifestyle of Mughals.
Purana Quila:
Located at Indraprastha which is considered to be as a historical city, Purana Quila now appears strong against the passage of time. This fort related to Humayun’s visions for his city Dinpanah is the perfect place for a picnic. Different gateways are there which are huge in size and one can also take a boat ride around the fort as there is a water tank around the boundary.
Jama Masjid:
Jama Masjid built by Shah Jahan is one of the largest mosques in India. Its courtyard measures can its name suggests accommodate 25000 worshippers. Constructed with the labor of 6,000 workers for 6 years, this mosque has a red sandstone floor, which becomes extremely hot Depending on the season, one should visit the place wearing shoes. Knowledge of the existence of the mosque is unbelievable because it is a masterpiece in religious and architectural tradition.
Safdarjung Tomb:
Safdarjung Tomb, the last pertinent garden tomb of Mughals architectural edifice, was erected in remembrance of Safdarjung, a minister in Avadh during Muhammad Shah’s reign. It is also an architectural masterpiece like Humayun’s Tomb but not as elaborate. Prominent elements of this tomb are Jangli Mahal, the tomb of Rukmini’s beloved, Badshah Pasand, and Moti Mahal.
Chandni Chowk:
Chandni Chowk originally planned and laid out by Shah Jahan along with his daughter Jahanara, had many water channels passing through it and it still remains one of the largest shopping markets in Delhi. Some of the prominent haveli houses include the Ghalib haveli, Begum Samru, and Chunnamal’s haveli. There are name brand shops, for instance, Ghantewala Halwai, that have been around the time of the Mughals. Chandni Chowk is localised market where everything ranging from garments, kitchen utensils, mobile phones, vegetables and everything that could be thought of is available.
Zafar Mahal:
The last Mughal building to have been constructed was Zafar Mahal, which is also in Mehrauli, just beside the dargah of Nizamuddin Auliya’s disciple, Khawaja Bakhtiyar Kaki. This summer palace is also called Shish Mahal and was built by Emperor Akbar II in honor of his son Bahadur Shah Zafar, although the ruinous building can still reveal its shining Maltese style pearl in the form of the white marble Moti Masjid.
Fatehpuri Masjid:
An insight of the heritage would be incomplete without mentioning the Dargah of Nizamuddin Aulia located in Mehrauli ,Fatehpuri Masjid constructed during the 17th century by Fatehpuri Begum, one of the wives of Shah Jahan is situated in the Chandni Chowk. Built of red sandstone, it has hall for prayers, fluted dome. Surrounding it are single storey and two storey structures.
Tomb of Atgah Khan:
The Tomb of Atgah Khan, in Hazrat Nizamuddin Basti was built for a nobleman of Akbar’s court who was killed by a rival. This is a 16th-century tomb, and as you can easily determine, it is not very famous and, therefore, has not been maintained in the best way possible either. Visit it soon before it fades of the rest of the beauty it still holds.
Conclusion:
Delhi is blessed with some of the splendid buildings that indeed give us a peek into the city’s histor Applaud . Right from the evolved architectural style of the Mughals like Humayun’s Tomb and the Red fort or from the vibrant business place like the Chandni Chowk and the religious site like Jama Masjid, every place has a different history. It is such great privileges to be able to physically go to such places and observe such sights for the benefit of the historian and/or the archaeologist but for the traveler as well. Lastly, sit back and relax and get a cozy hotel in Delhi whether it is the hotels near Paharganj New Delhi or the hotel in Dwarka New Delhi. These facilities are very useful and comfortable to provide extra convenience when you visit the city of Delhi.

16th of december, we're halway through december already. Im glad to hear you also hate coffee, cause i do too and anytime i tell someone they look at me like i just told them i killed their dog
What inspires you to write the most? How do you find inspiration, motivation and ideas to write?
You said you were potterhead, so now comes a question, which is very important to me: Are you a marauders fan and have you ever heard about/read "All The Young Dudes"?
What was your hyperfixation before gvf (mine was harry styles and 1D, which seems to have been a lot of peoples pipeline into the gvf fandom and idk why haha)? Any bands, movies, shows? Or fictional characters? Which leads me to the next question
Who are your favorite fictional characters? Could be from a book, a movie or a tv show
Have a wonderful day!!
-Secret santa 🎅🎄
It’s nice to meet a fellow coffee hater! Like there’s so many other delicious things to drink out there like juice and boba. Why are you torturing yourself with coffee?
1. I would probably have to say dreams. I dream a lot where I don’t feel like myself I just feel like an outside entity viewing what’s happening. I’ve started writing a few originals but my mind thinks in long multi-part series so I’ve never finished anything. Writing fanfiction is nice because readers usually don’t need all the world building and character introductions so you can jump right into the good stuff you want to write and can get some instant gratification in the form of comments, likes, reblogs. Even if I’m just a casual writer with a few followers, I see you guys out there who read and interact with my delusional stories and I appreciate you 💝
2. I have not but I will definitely check it out!
3. I was not a 1D fan 😅 in fact I went through sort of an anti-1D phase cause I was in highschool and I wore heavy black eyeliner and had swoop bangs so I was too emo for that… lol I do rather enjoy Harry’s recent stuff though like Adore You and Late Night Talking. Speaking of highschool I went through a Black Veil Brides phase in their early years (Set the World of Fire era) and tried to listen to some of their new stuff the other day but sadly hated it. Then I was (am) really into this Japanese rock band called The GazettE. I actually saw them live in Dallas a few years ago and I’m still wrapping my head around that one. I’ve always been a little abnormal about bands
4. Here ya go!
Sasuke Uchiha (I was in love with him at like 10 years old ok), Evelyn 😍, Damon Salvatore, Claire Fraser, Courge, Magnus Bane (specifically played by Harry Shum Jr not the other one), Kevin Tran, Guillermo De La Cruz, and Lexi
Well, I feel like a talked way too much here but oh well
