I have now written a 12-page, 6000+ word analysis of the AT episode Hall of Egress.

This sounds incredibly pretentious, but the most apparent lack of media illiteracy I've ever seen is people who react to certain adventure time episodes and only take away the gags and "haha silly boy and dog show" and don't pick up on the significant philosophical themes of episode like "The Comet" and "Hall of Egress" and only react with a simple "that was weird, doesn't really connect to the plot at all." It frustrates me to no end that they cannot comprehend some of the most incredible writing in television and one of the most artistic journeys ever imaginable and not end the episode without a tear in their eyes and think about it for the rest of your life.

Hall of Egress being one of my favourite Adventure Time episodes for showing how much Finn has grown and how much he’s learnt and then showing us that he had to grow in new ways and learn new things to move past the obstacle in his path and—

so much of finn's learning was done on fucked up little philosophical journeys, he did not doubt for a second that bringing simon on one of those he had experienced himself (so it's safe, see, because he can lead simon and all?) would help.

i genuinely wish more people drew finn midsize-fat instead of skinny like its actually getting on my nerves a little bit.... idk... hes literally just not skinny in any stretch of the word

i wonder how many years finn has actually lived through by the end of the show. like hes physically 17 but i can think of at least two episodes where he lived years only for him to have those years 'erased' and come back to an earlier point in his life (puhoy and hall of egress, tho theres probably more). like if we count those eps how old is he

also at least in puhoy he loses his memories of it. in hall of egress he doesnt. that episode haunts my dreams why the fuck did they wrote that that is horrifying. how many years did he spend in that. how many times. literally what the fuck

hiii i just spent a couple days putting this together. i know a lot of people want to want adventure time but get scared off by how long it is / how much filler there is in the early seasons, so here's a pretty comprehensive spreadsheet i made detailing which episodes are plot centric, in intended viewing order, with synopses taken from the fandom wiki. hope you find it helpful!

You know there’s hundreds of guides on how to cut someone out but none ever say what to do afterward. I cut my mom out of my life two weeks before my birthday which means I’ve been no contact for about a month and a half ish. It honestly feels like “The Halls of Egress” an adventure time episode in which “Finn and Jake set out to find a dungeon, but, after the two find it, Finn ends up getting trapped within. In the center of the structure he finds a door that, when he closes his eyes, he is able to pass through. However, every time Finn opens his eyes, he is transported back to being outside the door.” So here I am with my eyes closed, fumbling my way through the day to day trying so damn hard not to open them, because I don’t want to go back. Spoilers for the episode but in the end he has to traverse across the land and through another cave alone and only then may he open his eyes. I’m trying to find the cave that will let me open my eyes and move forward but I haven’t yet and I don’t know when or if I will so I’m just going to keep moving because maybe when I least expect it I’ll bump into it.
