This Half-Life: Decay set is the one I'm proud of the most. The difference in their walking styles, their choice and handling of weapons, their chemistry, the composition. I love everything about it, however, it's the map author who deserves the most praise. If I remember correctly, I didn't add any light sources - all of lighting is baked by them!

Concerning your reblog just now, I love this piece of trivia as well (partially because I first heard it from an ‘obscure video game facts’ YouTube compilation before I knew what Half-Life was or could possibly imagine that it would someday be my special interest), and some part of me longs it wasn’t cut not because of the plot hole fix necessarily, but because I love seeing the different protagonists’ journeys touch each-other slightly. Adrian catches a glimpse of Gordon jump into the Xen portal. Barney sees Gordon riding the tram, then has to watch through a vent as his friend is carried off by the soldiers. Gina and Colette not just seeing Gordon but DIRECTLY SAVING HIS LIFE, ALLOWING HIS JOURNEY TO CONTINUE would have meant so much to me. Perhaps two protagonists interacting too closely leads to a ‘temporal paradox’, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t allowed to give one-another a little help from afar (I have my own interpretation of the ‘temporal paradox’ thing that I won’t get into here because this ask’s already getting very long lol)

YES YES i completely agree. considering the HECU's frequent negligence and incompetence throughout the rest of the game and the general volatility of the situation, the soldiers failing to finish the job never registered to me as much of a plot hole. it would have just been cool as hell! designing a level that allows you to get a clear shot at the soldiers without making the players think "well, why can't we also just run over there and help Gordon?" would have been a little tricky, but with a bit more development time i'm sure it could have been achieved. eh... i guess stuff always gets cut from games to allow them to ship on time in a finished state. but this is one thing i really wish had stayed in.

Gina and Colette's story intersects briefly with Barney's at the very end as they're all caught up in the harmonic reflux at the same time, but as far as i recall, that's about it in terms of crossover between the protagonists' lives.

huh... how do the timelines match up there? do Blue Shift and Decay conclude at the same time? no, they can't, because Blue Shift concludes mid-disaster and Decay concludes after Cross, Green, and Keller have completed the resonance reversal. i guess maybe you can say the harmonic reflux displaced everyone not only in space but in time. i could believe that.

god i neeed to find a pc port with online co-op functionality and play decay with someone one of these days. did i ever tell people here that i once dreamed that Valve released an enhanced PC port of Decay? i was so devastated when i woke up and realized that wasn't true haha. that dream also included Half-Life 3 dropping but the fact that the Decay port wasn't real was the only thing i felt genuinely upset about when i woke up
