Super... Lame? - Hero!Taemin X Reader X Villain!Hakyeon
Super Hero / Super Villain AU - Based off this post
Genre: Crack, Humour, Fluff
Pairing: Taemin X Reader X Hakyeon
Words: 2,314
A/n: Just a little something I've been thinking of for a while since reading the aforementioned post linked above. I don't know, I thought it was cute. Hopefully you guys like my humour in this one. As always, feedback is greatly appreciated, I hope you enjoy!
A yawn escapes your lips as you turn on your television to watch the morning news. You manage to rub the sleep out of your eyes just in time to pay attention to the main story of the morning news report.
“Last night, the criminal known only as ’N’, attempted to steal a large amount of money from the national bank. Luckily, the town’s very own Super Min was there to put a stop to N’s antics. Here’s Jessica with the key witness report at the scene of the crime, for more details…”
You allow the news anchor’s voice to drone on in the background as you unlock your phone. Your brow is furrowed slightly in worry as you have plans today to meet up with your two closest friends at a café near where the national bank is located. The biggest thing you’re worried about is the café now being destroyed, meaning you can no longer go out for lunch.
After a quick search online, and a few frantic texts sent to each of your two best friends, you confirm the café is still standing, and is still indeed open for business today. It seems the buildings on the opposite side of the street were the ones affected.
You had planned this meeting last week, seeing that you’ve wanted your two best friends to meet each other in person for once. You find it weird that the two people you’re closest to have never actually met each other, so you wanted to change that. Thank goodness you don’t have to reschedule.
Checking the time, you notice that it’s just past nine in the morning, giving you plenty of time to get ready and head over to where you’re supposed to meet your friends. With a final huff, you turn your TV off and head back to your room to start getting ready for the day.
An hour and a half later, you’re ready to leave for the café, receiving a small text from your one friend to be careful on the way over, as N could still be on the loose nearby. You smile to yourself, shaking you head as you reply to your friend. You’ll be fine, you usually always are.
You’ve only ever encountered the ‘dynamic duo’, as the media often times calls them, twice before, and for whatever reason, they purposely avoid you now. Granted, the first time you were kidnapped by one of N’s old henchman, who is now in jail, locked away for good. The second time was pure coincidence, and you swear they did everything within their powers to lead the fight away from you. Looking back on it now, you can’t help but to think of both encounters as extremely odd.
Shaking your head to clear yourself of your thoughts, you notice you’ve arrived just outside the café. Peering into the windows allows you to see Hakyeon already sitting at a booth in the corner, three menus sitting on the table.
Entering the café, the bell above the door lets out a small chime, signalling your arrival. Hakyeon looks up and manages to lock eyes with you, finding himself mirroring your smile without thinking too much about it.
“Hey,” you greet him, sliding into the booth across from him. “You’re here early.”
“Or maybe you’re just a few minutes late,” he smirks, sliding a menu towards you as you check your phone for the time once more. He chuckles as he sees you frown, “I’m just kidding, I wanted to make sure I got here earlier so I could talk with you-“
“Hey, (Y/n)!” Taemin chirps happily as he slides into the booth beside you, throwing an arm around you in greeting.
“Hi!” You greet back, just as enthusiastically. “Glad you could make it. Anyways, before anything else, I think introductions are in order,” smiling wide, you fail to notice the way the two males lock eyes, glaring at each other from across the table. “Taemin, this is Hakyeon. Hakyeon, this is Taemin.”
“Pleasure to meet you,” Taemin is the first to extend his hand out, Hakyeon eyeing it cautiously before reaching across the table to shake it.
Both of them hold a vice-like grip on the other’s hand, neither willingly showing how affected they are.
“The pleasure’s all mine,” Hakyeon replies through gritted teeth.
“Great!” You clap your hands together. “Now that that’s out of the way, let’s order some food, I’m starving.”
After the waitress comes by and takes your orders, you’re turning your attention to the two men once more, failing to notice the rising tension between the two of them the longer that they glare at each other.
“I can’t believe I’ve never introduced the two of you before now,” you ramble on, “considering you’re my best friends and all. You swear I would have made you two meet sooner.”
“Well, better late than never,” Hakyeon comments, eyes flicking to the arm that Taemin still has placed behind your shoulders.
Noticing Hakyeon’s gaze, Taemin smirks, shifting closer to you.
Did they know that you were talking about each other when you invited them out for lunch? No, never in a million years did they think that their arch-nemesis was your other best friend. However, did they know that the other knew of you? Now that’s a funny story.
In a superhero meets super villain story, there’s always some form of love interest, right? Well, that love interest just so happens to be you. Except for the fact that you have no idea. Oblivious wouldn’t even begin to describe you.
The only reason one of Hakyeon’s old henchman kidnapped you in the first place was because Hakyeon wouldn’t shut up about you in the lab for a time. His henchman thought he would speed his boss’ dating life up by kidnapping you for him.
To say Hakyeon was mad, was an understatement. He knows that if he’s ever going to have a shot at winning your heart, he needs to do it naturally, and not by kidnapping you. Since when has that ever worked for the villain? Never.
However, as soon as Taemin burst into the scene to rescue the person kidnapped, he was beyond shocked to see you. Needless to say, Taemin almost beat the living crap out of Hakyeon for involving you in their disagreements.
After getting you a safe distance away, and making sure you were alright, Taemin went back and made a pact with Hakyeon to never involve you in their plots again, no matter what. They both agreed that your safety is their number one priority. Besides, who doesn’t like a little friendly competition now-a-days.
Granted, if they had known then that you were friends with the other’s 'secret identity', they could have intervened earlier. Today just keeps getting better and better.
“So,” you say, breaking the two males out of their thoughts with your attempt to start a conversation. “What have you two been up to recently?”
Hakyeon nearly chokes on his water as he takes a sip, noticing Taemin’s slightly wide eyes at your question as well.
“Oh, you know, not too much,” Hakyeon clears his throat. “Had to stop by the bank the other day.”
It’s not like he can tell you that the idiot sitting next to you almost threw a building at his head before he could finish taking the money he needed from the bank.
“Went to the movies last week,” Taemin says, shrugging slightly as if it’s no big deal.
It’s not like he can say he stopped the asshole sitting across from you from robbing the bank by almost throwing a building at his head.
“Well, don’t you guys just live life on the edge,” you joke, rolling your eyes for emphasis. “For your information, I actually did something fun last week.”
At this, they both raise an eyebrow, waiting for you to continue.
“I went shopping!” You cheer, wiggling your eyebrows suggestively.
“Oh boy, shopping,” Taemin laughs, causing you to laugh right along with him.
“I fail to see how that’s any more intensive than what we’ve just told you,” Hakyeon deadpans, only causing you to laugh louder.
“Well, groceries won’t buy themselves,” you shrug, resting your arm on top of the table so you can lean your head on your open palm. “Anyways, you said you had to go to the bank? You weren’t anywhere near there last night, were you?”
At your question, Hakyeon freezes slightly, noticing how smug Taemin looks out of the corner of his eyes.
“No, it was a few days ago,” Hakyeon replies, narrowing his eyes slightly at Taemin.
“Thank goodness,” you breathe a sigh of relief. “Gosh, if something ever happened to you due to what goes on in this city,” you pause, shaking your head, before adding, “either of you.”
“Well, things wouldn’t be so bad if that villainous N left,” Taemin grumbles, slouching slightly to cross his arms in front of his chest.
Hakyeon shoots him a look, and if looks could kill, Taemin would be six feet under by now.
“You don’t know that for sure,” you counter, much to both of their surprise. “Maybe he’s just misunderstood, and people just treat him as a villain because they need someone to project their vile ideals onto.”
“(Y/n), he tried to rob the national bank last night,” Taemin attempts to reason with you as Hakyeon leans forwards slightly in his seat, wanting to hear more of your thoughts about him.
“Yeah, but we don’t know his motivation behind it. The news sites never disclosed the amount he was stealing, so maybe it wasn’t actually that large of a sum. Maybe he needed that money for something important, like distributing it out to the less fortunate, or feeding the homeless,” you counter. “Just because someone is bad doesn’t necessarily mean they’re not good.”
“If only more people thought like you, (Y/n),” Hakyeon sighs, smiling encouragingly towards you, but turning more smug once he turns to look at Taemin who sits there with a scowl on his face.
“I’m just saying, don’t pin him as the villain if you don’t know the whole truth,” you continue, shrugging your shoulders once more.
“But, didn’t he kidnap you?” Taemin quirks a brow, this time causing Hakyeon to scowl.
“Actually, that was all his henchman’s doing,” you respond, thanking the waitress who places your meals down in front of the three of you. “Anyways, he didn’t do anything to me, and in fact, he got mad at his henchman for kidnapping me. Told him that’s ‘not what they do here.’ It was odd.”
“Not what you were expecting?” Hakyeon asks, taking a bite of his food.
“No, not exactly. The media keeps portraying him as this villain, but after that, I don’t really know what to think anymore,” you furrow your brow. “If you think about it, he’s actually a pretty smart guy, some of his tactics are a bit questionable, but I’m sure if someone actually took the time to understand him, things would be better. Or at least Super Min can stop throwing buildings at his head.”
At this, Hakyeon turns to give Taemin a look as if to say, ‘I told you so,’ only causing Taemin to frown.
“Well, I think Super Min is just doing his civil service and protecting the general public from whatever dangerous threat there is at the time,” Taemin counters, taking a bite out of his own food.
“Well, I mean, sure he is,” you nod. “He’s doing what he thinks is best for the greater good. Except, it’s not always that simple.”
“What do you mean?” Taemin questions.
“I mean, put it this way,” you turn to look at him, “I would say he saved my life, but was I ever in any life threatening danger to begin with?” After a few moments of silence, you continue, “and I mean, I’m not pinning the blame on either one of them but couldn’t they at least take their squabbles outside of the city? Where there would be fewer casualties and less damages to be repaired if things went south? Like, I mean, for two dudes that self proclaim themselves to be ‘super’ they aren’t all that ‘super’ smart. In fact, half the time, I think they’re both super lame.”
The two of them sit there, stunned, as they let your words sink in. You think they’re… lame?
Seeing the stunned looks on their faces makes you burst out laughing.
“Nah, I’m just kidding,” you grin, letting out a few giggles here and there. “But in all seriousness, I don’t get the whole super hero and villain dynamic. I mean, who comes up with their names? Super Min? Sounds like a rip off Superman.”
At this, Hakyeon bursts out laughing along with you, “lame!”
Taemin pouts beside you, but you fail to notice as you nod along with Hakyeon’s comment.
“Okay, but I’m also still trying to figure out what the hell ’N’ stands for,” you go on to say, tapping your chin dramatically in thought as a grin spreads across Taemin’s face, looking over to watch as Hakyeon pouts this time. “I mean, does it mean Nero? Nemesis? Nex? No? I guess we’ll never know.”
“Ha!” Taemin laughs. “Lame!”
“Exactly!” You agree, laughing along with him. “Those two are super confusing.”
The two of them stare at you now, watching as you brush some of your hair back from your face, resting your head once more on the palm of your hand.
“Still, I think it’d be pretty cool to know someone like that, with powers and such,” you sigh, turning your gaze from your food to the two men before you, a knowing smirk pulling at your lips. “Wouldn’t you?”

Let me know your thoughts, I’m so curious as to if I was just being biased or most people agree lol
Not even sure if I ranked them properly but oh well! I also sometimes put two people as one answer because I need help choosing lol

Worst hair: Hongbin [ Now don’t get me wrong I love pre-debut Binnie’s bushy hair but iTS THE HALF UP HALF DOWN STYLE IN THE MV I CAN’T- ]
Who fit the concept best: N???? [ this music video makes me cringe so much (and is there even a proper concept??) but I feel like Hakyeon probably gets it because he’s the most bubbly in the MV and fit best with the song in my opinion (and he looks like a cute little muffin) ]
Rock ur body
Best hair: Ravi [ he is the king of red hair - need I say more? ]
Worst hair: Hongbin [ idk why it just doesn’t look very nice LMAO ]
Who fit the concept best: Hyuk [ He just looks so cute and fits the video game concept well - plus he looks like a little duckling and it’s adorable ]

Best hair: N [ Not to be biased, but… we stan red hair here ]
Worst hair: Hyuk [ Just a bit short for my liking, the style is kinda like Taekwoon’s in Superhero lol ]
Who fit the concept best: Leo [ I don’t know which member of the group is more Jekyll and Hyde than Taekwoon lmao ]
G.R.8.U
Best hair: Ravi [ THIS STYLE WAS SO CUTE ON HIM <333 I did really love Jaehwan’s as well ]
Worst hair: Leo [ There wasn’t any particularly bad hair in the video but I liked Taekwoon’s least sorry :/ ]
Who fit the concept best: Hongbin [ He was just so cute this video how could I say no to that face ]
Only U
Best hair: N [ we all knew it don’t fight me on it ]
Worst hair: Hongbin [ not bad just my least favourite ]
Who fit the concept best: Leo [ I was gonna say Jaehwannie bc of his cute little bow tie but I just think Taek suits the MV best. Hyuk was also a top contender ]
Voodoo Doll
Best hair: Leo [ he looked so good this MV ]
Worst hair: Hongbin [ it looks cool w the concept but I don’t know why I just don’t like it :/ ]
Who fit the concept best: Ravi [ I <3 him with this concept ]

Worst hair: Leo [ I don’t like this shade of blonde on him :/ ]
Who fit the concept best: Nbin [ I think I’m being biased but who doesn’t think their fave fits the kinky concept best lmfao!!! I just see Hakyeon as most into bondage and Binnie as most submissive so I’m gonna have to say both ]

Can you do a Halloween scenario where they are kids trick or treating, but like the are unlucky and visit houses that give out healthy stuff? Like the kindergarten series? Is that still a thing?
N: Little Hakyeon would be very dapper in his little suit, little briefcase, and round spectacles as he strolls through the neighborhood as a mini businessman. He has no time for the ‘aww you’re so cute’ from the adults handing out the candy as his main objective is to obtain more candy than his little plastic pumpkin can hold. Trick or treat, say thank you, and on to the next house. Everything works according to plan until that one house that doesn’t quite understand how Trick-or-Treat is supposed to function. And being the little smart kid that he is, he will not have a problem letting that them know. “Oh…yay. Floss and a toothbrush. Best Halloween ever, thank you Mister. *turns to his mom* Mom, this is a wacky dentist. I don’t even have two front teeth to slide this floss through!”
Leo: Boo! A simple white sheet with eyeholes and a straight-lined smile will make up Taekwoon’s ghostly costume. One piece of candy gets you an annoyed eyeroll, two pieces of candy gets you a mumbled Boo, and three or more pieces get you a “BooooOOOOoooooOOOO.” Healthy, non-cavity inducing, granola looking, and bowel regulating Halloween wannabe treats get you a… perturbed, non-friendly kindergartner ghost hybrid. “*Eats the treat immediately* This isn’t candy. Take it back. *Hands the wrapper and other treats back* Mom? Why’d we come to this house?”
Ken: Jaehwan would be dressed as whatever action packed superhero is in season at the time. He’d always be on the run making his mother quickly trail behind him. What’s the reason for his rush? Well his older brother passed down his list of all the houses that give the best, no the greatest, no the most spectacular candy in the neighborhood, and he has to hurry and get to them all before the night is over. Unfortunately, just his luck one of those houses decided to go against the very essence of Halloween and serve healthy treats which means Jaehwan now has the important of duty of saving Halloween! “This house is officially off the Best Halloween Candy list! May you wake up with creepy crawlies in your bed for all eternity! *sticks tongue out* Unless you return to giving out good candy. BECAUSE I WANT CAVITIES!”
Ravi: This cute lil’ rapper dressed in a snapback, sweats, and a gold medallion roams the streets in search of all the candy he can get. Nothing can break this little kid’s spirit or the stride in his steps. Nothing. Well, except for the fresh kiwi the house two streets over places in his Trick-or-Treat basket. His heart is completely broken until next year. Throw the whole Halloween away. “*Tears falling down his face* MOMMY! THEY DIDN’T GIVE ME ANY CANDY. NOW I DON’T HAVE THAT MUCH CANDY! AND THEY GAVE ME A KIWI WITH HAIR ON IT! FRUITS AREN’T SUPPOSED TO HAVE HAIR! I WANNA GO HOME!”
HongBin: The cutest little Frankenstein if you ever did see one! Especially when he runs up to the house very excited to see what candy he might get but trips on the way because his little shoelaces keep coming untied. But then he quickly stands up and brushes his self off before zombie walking the rest of his way to the candy cauldrons of the other houses. But then there’s that one house that gives little ‘ole innocent HongBin some basic azz cinnamon breath mints. Breath mints that’ll burn his nose hairs right on off. And you know what HongBin does? He makes his signature stank face, except more childlike, but unlike those other five gremlins he doesn’t react because he’s thankful that he’s at least getting to put something in his little basket. “Breathmints? Well I am a zombie! These might put me back in the ground though, but thank you!”
Hyuk: Now you see him, now you don’t because he’s a ninja and he’s super fast and sneaky. He’ll even do a super acrobatic ninja routine in the middle of the street hoping it’ll earn him more candy from each house he performs in front of. And that little routine works on every house even the little brown house on the corner that offers him a choice of raisins and non-salted peanuts. And that my friends was the story of how the little brown house on the corner with medium sized windows stopped giving out Halloween candy forever. They say the souls of the homeowners now roam the empty bulldozed lot wishing they had never messed with little ninja Hyuk. “*Tee Hee*”
Happy Halloween!-Admin Cheezy ^_^

Smitten - “Dear all,” Jaehwan said in an authoritative tone, “thank you for coming. What we are going to discuss today is a very sensitive, very important issue.” He tipped his chin up and took a deep breath before announcing, “The reason why we are here… is that I am irresistible.” (OT6/Ken-centred, pg, 3956 w)
a/n #1: written for this prompt. i tried to make this story more light-hearted than the volatile series that was based on a similar but more negative prompt and again, i am not a very funny person, so i have no idea why i still try;; nevertheless, i hope you’ll like it, anon, and also that others will like it as well ♥
a/n #2: at some point my life started to revolve around writing tons of fics about jaehwan and i’m not yet convinced this is right, but it definitely feels really good
As pathetic as it may have seemed, Jaehwan didn’t really care about spending Valentine’s Day huddled up on a messy bed in a dark room, binge watching superhero movies with a friend. He also didn’t really mind that said friend was three times as broad as him and so served as the perfect backrest while Jaehwan sat between his long legs, pretty much feeling like a king on his well-deserved, comfortable throne.
“We could’ve chosen something more exciting,” Sanghyuk said, the inner side of his arm brushing against Jaehwan's shoulder as he reached between Jaehwan's legs, taking out a handful of the bowl of popcorn Jaehwan had in his lap.
“I like this one,” Jaehwan said, munching on some popcorn.
He heard a snort, Sanghyuk fidgeting about behind him and moving the mattress like a giant earthquake, and when he was done with whatever he was doing, he wrapped his arms around Jaehwan's chest, holding him down as if with a vise. Anything Jaehwan could have said died out in his throat as Sanghyuk pulled him so close his heartbeat echoed inside Jaehwan's body, his breath warm against Jaehwan's ear when he whispered, “It’s because of the main dude, isn’t it?”
“What do you mean?” Jaehwan mumbled, trying to break free weakly, but Sanghyuk only held him tighter like quicksand that didn’t let Jaehwan work against it.
“Oh, come on,” Sanghyuk said, his voice trembling with suppressed laughter that Jaehwan didn’t like. “He’s tall and muscular and probably three times as big as you. I know you like guys like that a little too much.”
“Shut up!” Jaehwan spat and squirmed, but Sanghyuk held him down, even when Jaehwan whined.
“Your size kink is awfully obvious,” Sanghyuk chuckled, and Jaehwan dug his nails into his lower arm, but Sanghyuk didn’t even budge. His lips touched the shell of Jaehwan's ear as he said, “You like being the small one, don’t you? Seriously, you keep nestling into my lap like a puppy and you think I haven’t noticed? You should just tell me if you want me to—”
“Stop!” Jaehwan squeaked and reached into the bowl of popcorn, throwing some behind his back, attacking Sanghyuk with it.
He heard a laugh, and then Sanghyuk let go of him, let Jaehwan scoot away on the bed with his face feeling like it was on fire and his briefs becoming way too tight under his sweatpants. He was determined not to let Sanghyuk see that he was getting hard, keeping the bowl in front of his crotch, but Sanghyuk glanced down and smirked that stupid baby bear smirk of his, looking beyond adorable even when he was being the demonic creature he was.
“You’re so easy to tease!” Sanghyuk exclaimed, giggling, and leant forward, kissing a scowling Jaehwan on the lips shortly. Jaehwan felt the wrinkles smooth out between his brows, but he was not ready to look forgiving just yet. “Don’t look at me like that. It’s not my fault you’re so weak for me.”
“Shush,” Jaehwan grumbled. “And let’s just watch One Piece instead.”
Sanghyuk's shoulders shook as he sniggered, reaching for his laptop to put on the latest episode they hadn’t seen yet, crawling back to lean against the headrest after pressing play. Jaehwan sighed and put his hands on Sanghyuk's knees, opening his legs to accommodate himself between them once again. Sanghyuk grinned and spread his arms wide in a welcoming gesture, earning a glare for it from Jaehwan.
Once he was leaning back against Sanghyuk's chest, he felt Sanghyuk's hands coming up to rest on top of his shoulders, squeezing lightly as he said, “I know you’re hard.”
More than half of the popcorn landed in Sanghyuk's face.
*
It was the middle of the night and Jaehwan was munching on his favourite cheap chocolate flavoured cereal balls with his legs pulled under him on the armchair, sitting in the right corner of the small studio, trying to soak the cereal in the milk to reach the perfect sogginess. Wonshik was sitting by his desk, bloodshot eyes roving the screen and his legs moving up and down to the rhythm of his own song. He didn’t really need Jaehwan to be there, but Jaehwan couldn’t sleep and he wasn’t a fan of staying up alone in the quiet, dark apartment, so he had decided to hole up in Wonshik's study.
The instrumental Wonshik was playing was a slow flowing music that at least didn’t tear at Jaehwan's already messy nerves. It was quite soothing to listen to, and Jaehwan soon found himself humming along.
Wonshik's body jerked, spine going stiff. He turned the music off with a click of his mouse and Jaehwan watched him curiously, more letting the cereal melt in his mouth than chewing it as he raised his eyebrows. Wonshik turned around in his seat, sleepy, red eyes shining like he was looking into the sun as he stared at Jaehwan, jaw slightly dropped.
“What?” Jaehwan asked, spoon stilling in his hand.
“Do you—” Wonshik rose slowly from his chair, bottom leaving the seat in slow-motion, and he shuffled to Jaehwan, crouching down in front of him with joints clicking sharply in his legs. He placed his hands on Jaehwan's knees, for support or out of fondness, Jaehwan wasn’t sure, but if he had had to guess, he would have bet on the latter. “Do you like it?”
“Um, yeah?” Jaehwan frowned. “It sounds nice and is totally my taste? But you know what kind of music I like, so—”
“Do you like it enough to feature in it for me?” Wonshik asked, fingers curling into Jaehwan's knees.
“I mean, yeah,” Jaehwan shrugged.
“Jaehwan,” Wonshik breathed and tears started to well up in his eyes. Jaehwan leant away a little, trying to understand what really was going on. “Jaehwan, oh, Jaehwan,” Wonshik stood up slowly, cupping the back of Jaehwan's head in his palms, an exhausted, happy smile breaking out on his chapped lips. “Oh, Jaehwan,” he said again with a little break to his voice, and then his face was right there, eyes closed, the tip of his nose nudging Jaehwan’s.
It was instinctive, the way Jaehwan held up the spoon and pressed it to Wonshik's mouth, making milk splash onto both of their clothes, the metal clinking on Wonshik's tooth.
“Ow!” Wonshik cried out and pulled back immediately, pressing both of his hands onto his mouth, and only let go for a moment to ask, “Are you crazy?!”
“You wanted to kiss me!” Jaehwan exclaimed.
Wonshik looked like he wanted to retort but had nothing to fight back with, so he averted his eyes, instead examining a dirty sock in the corner of his study. His cheeks were a deep pink.
“I’m going to bed,” Jaehwan announced, completely shaken, and stood up from the armchair.
Before he could have opened the door, Wonshik called his name.
“Can you…” Wonshik took a deep breath, “can you not tell… the others?”
“Ugh,” Jaehwan groaned, and he still thought it was a cleverer answer than anything else he could have said in that moment.
He stepped out of the study and closed the door on a similarly flustered Wonshik.
*
Jaehwan was never a tidy person. He also had a bad habit of leaving his dirty clothes scattered around his room before going to take a shower, not quite ashamed of his body as he walked through the living room in only his underwear or even less. He was all for freedom in his own place, and for all some of his band mates made displeased sounds at the sight of his (almost) bare ass, he caught them staring on more than one occasion. Who could blame them, really.
But back to the point.
He was returning into his bedroom from his long shower during which he used Hakyeon's vanilla scented, organic, bio, vegan and cruelty-free shower gel, the scent lingering on his skin like he had smeared cake topping all over his body. When he pushed the cracked door even more open, he found Hongbin there, which wasn’t quite an unusual sight, especially at night, when Hongbin's neat freak self came to life and started picking up the members’ laundry to place them into their shared laundry basket. What was unusual was that Hongbin was standing in the middle of the room and wearing Jaehwan's previously shed white turtleneck sweater. He was pulling the collar up to his face and over his nose, his eyes closing slowly as he inhaled.
It would have looked pretty, like something out of a movie scene—Hongbin was handsome enough to look like he came out of a movie himself—but there’s also something inherently wrong about finding someone in your bedroom, smelling your stuff.
“What are you doing?” Jaehwan asked, trying to sound less creeped out than he felt.
Hongbin dropped the collar so fast Jaehwan could have thought he had been imagining him smelling it, though Hongbin's blush that spread over the bridge of his nose was a tell-tale sign that he got caught red-handed.
“Oh, I just, I just,” Hongbin was jabbering, turning left and right like he was looking for somewhere to hide. “Can I wear it? It looks cool.”
“Where… do you want to wear it at one in the morning?” Jaehwan asked tentatively.
“I-I… I mean, not now,” he let out a laugh, trying to sound sarcastic when he next spoke, “where would I were it now? Hah. No, I mean, once. Out. You know, when we go… somewhere. Or… I go somewhere. Like, out. For dinner or something, or—or shopping or something. I just tried it on, because it looks good, so I was like, I should try it on and see if it fits me and then maybe, if you let me, maybe, I’ll borrow it once. So. Can I?”
“Um, sure,” Jaehwan replied and now he felt almost as nervous as Hongbin seemed. He stepped into the bedroom. “I’d like to put on my pyjamas, if you excuse me.”
“Oh!” Hongbin cried out way too loudly. “Of course, sorry, I’ll just… I’ll put this in the laundry.”
“Yeah,” Jaehwan said. “Thanks.”
“Yeah,” Hongbin grinned with the corners of his mouth shaking wildly. “Good night.”
Jaehwan hummed in response, and when Hongbin left the room and closed the door after himself, Jaehwan took a moment to reflect on everything that had just happened.
And, he thought, he also had some reflecting to do on the fate of his other dirty clothes that Hongbin had taken to the laundry in the past.
*
Jaehwan was sitting on the couch, snugly pressed against Sanghyuk who took up almost a third of it with his enormous body. He felt quite comfortable with his back against Sanghyuk's chest and his legs pulled up, feet propped up on the armrest as he played his favourite game on his phone while Sanghyuk watched a boring action movie playing on TV.
“Jaehwan-ah?” Taekwoon called from the kitchen.
Jaehwan sighed. Whatever Taekwoon wanted from him, Jaehwan was quite reluctant to stand up for it, and he had a feeling Taekwoon wanted something that required him to do just that.
“Do you think if I pretend to be asleep he’ll let me be?” Jaehwan murmured to Sanghyuk.
“Jaehwan-ah!” Taekwoon called again, this time louder.
“He’s going!” Sanghyuk yelled back and when Jaehwan pushed himself away from him to glare into his face, Sanghyuk gave him his most vicious grin.
“You are the cruellest devil of them all, I hope you know that,” Jaehwan grumbled and stood up.
“Oh, you’re flattering me,” Sanghyuk said and blew a kiss at Jaehwan for which he got flipped off.
Taekwoon was standing by the kitchen counter, above a pot of… his special rose pasta, Jaehwan noted as he reached it.
“Yes, dad?” Jaehwan asked, grimacing.
“Be quiet,” Taekwoon said and took out a spoonful of the sauce, blowing on it a few times before holding it out to Jaehwan. “Try this.”
“I’m not hungry yet,” Jaehwan replied.
“You need to eat and this is for dinner, so just try it, okay?”
“But it always tastes the same!” Jaehwan cried out and he was seconds away from stomping his feet. “Why do you always make me try it when it always tastes the same?”
“Because you don’t eat enough and I want it to be the best for you,” Taekwoon replied with an expressionless face, and nudged Jaehwan's lips with the spoon.
Jaehwan rolled his eyes and took the spoon into his mouth, chewing on a mushroom afterwards, when Taekwoon had already pulled his hand back. He was looking at Jaehwan like he was trying to read his mind to know how it tasted even before Jaehwan said, “Yeah, it’s good. Can I leave?”
Apparently, Taekwoon took that as a sign that it wasn’t perfect and his face twitched, his lips forming a small pout. He nodded nevertheless and Jaehwan was glad he could be free again.
Later, when they were all sitting at the dinner table, Jaehwan got his own portion of pasta beforehand, already served on a plate instead of having to take some for himself, and he was also the only one who got parsley decoration on top.
When he looked up, Taekwoon was already nose deep into his own plate, the tips of his ears slightly red.
*
Jaehwan was not sure anymore when Hakyeon had started seeking him out to provide him comfort by sleeping in the same bed, but sometime during the years they had spent living together, it became an irregular thing that occasionally happened.
It was one of those nights again; Jaehwan found himself lying next to Hakyeon after Hakyeon had pleaded with him to let him sleep in his bed because he hadn’t felt relaxed enough to be able to handle being alone in his bedroom. So Jaehwan let him, because his bed was big enough and having Hakyeon's body there meant it would be even warmer in the room at night, which was a benefit.
Jaehwan closed his eyes and was just about to let sleep take him when the covers rustled loudly, Hakyeon squirming around unnecessarily like he always did. There was something, a sensation that Jaehwan couldn’t ignore, something that made him feel uncomfortable.
He opened his eyes again, and it took him a few seconds to focus in the dim light of his nightlight on Hakyeon's face that was just too close, his dark, bug-like eyes glinting as he stared at Jaehwan.
“What is it?” Jaehwan mumbled.
The corners of Hakyeon's lips curled up slowly, the smile spreading over his face like cheese melting on toast. He lifted his arm and touched the palm of his hand to Jaehwan's left cheek, caressing softly even as Jaehwan frowned at him.
“I love you so much,” Hakyeon said.
“Ugh, okay,” Jaehwan's face twisted. “Do you want something from me?”
“No,” Hakyeon replied, furrowing his brow in hurt. He pulled his hand back. “I just wanted to express my affection, but if that bothers you—”
“Honestly, it does.” Jaehwan scooted away a little. “I hate it when you become sentimental, so let’s just… sleep, okay?”
“Heartless.”
“I am.”
Hakyeon tipped his head back in an upset manner, and a moment later, he was lying on his other side, with his back at Jaehwan.
Not very surprisingly, Jaehwan woke up in the middle of the night to Hakyeon hugging his body to himself like Jaehwan was his personal teddy bear.
*
“Dear all,” Jaehwan said in an authoritative tone, “thank you for coming. What we are going to discuss today is a very sensitive, very important issue.” He tipped his chin up and took a deep breath before announcing, “The reason why we are here… is that I am irresistible.”
He heard dismissive snorts coming from the couch, and a quiet, “Yeah.”
Five heads turned towards Wonshik whose eyes turned wide, colour rising on his cheeks.
“I-I mean,” he stammered, “he’s cute, isn’t he?”
“I am cute,” Jaehwan agreed, clasping his hands together in front of him. “And I am also insanely good-looking and extremely sexy, and that has become a problem.”
“Ugh, I have no time for this bullshit,” Taekwoon murmured and then wanted to stand up, but as his butt left the seat, Jaehwan commanded, “Hyung, sit.”
Taekwoon's eyebrows ran up on his forehead and so did Hakyeon's while Wonshik looked like he was struck by lightning, and Hongbin and Sanghyuk started laughing obnoxiously.
“Excuse me?” Taekwoon asked, straightening up.
“Leave him,” Hakyeon said and reached up to grab Taekwoon's arm and pull him back down on the couch. Hakyeon turned to Jaehwan again. “Go on, Jaehwanie.”
Jaehwan cleared his throat.
“Yes,” he said. “As I’ve said, you guys just can’t ignore my charms and seem to have become smitten with me recently.”
“Smitten!” Hongbin cried. “We’re all guys!”
“Narrow-minded,” Wonshik said, disguising it as a series of coughs.
“And you’re gay,” Hongbin shot back.
“And what if he is?” Sanghyuk shrugged.
“Yeah, what if I am?” Wonshik replied, the flush deepening on his cheeks.
“Are you gay?” Hakyeon asked casually like a researcher who is trying to gather information on his surroundings.
“Hey, I’m trying to give a presentation here!” Jaehwan yelled and everyone looked back at him again, Taekwoon rolling his eyes so hard Jaehwan feared they might fall out of their socket. “You can ask questions at the end.”
“Can you just get to the point?” Taekwoon whined.
“The point is that I feel uncomfortable because of you guys looking at me with heart-eyes all the time and this has to end as soon as possible,” Jaehwan said.
There was silence for a few moments, but then Hakyeon said, “I don’t understand what you’re talking about.”
“I’m talking about this,” Jaehwan reached between his thighs and massaged the right one, becoming annoyed, “and this,” he slapped his own butt, “and this,” he started fiddling with his own ear, “and this,” now he started pinching the skin of his neck, “and petting me and hugging me from behind and picking me up like I’m the female lead of some sort of shitty romance movie, but I can’t show you that.”
Jaehwan huffed. Judging from their mildly amused expressions, the others were apparently taking it as a joke, most probably as one of those cute and silly little things Jaehwan did, and Jaehwan looked up at the ceiling, trying to think of the point in his life where his credibility all fell out of his hands. “Don’t talk to me like I’m a baby or a person you want to— you know. And especially you, Sanghyuk, if you whisper into my ears like that again and then become all smug and proud of making me hard, I’m going to cut your tongue out.”
“He did what?!” Wonshik spluttered, voice going up in pitch.
“And you!” Jaehwan pointed at Wonshik who recoiled like he thought Jaehwan would curse him. “If you try to kiss me again, I’m going to kick you in the face.” His face felt hot when he saw Sanghyuk's frown from the corner of his eye.
“Oh my God,” Hongbin groaned, fingers curling on his thighs from cringing.
“You stop stealing my clothes, Hongbin, I saw you smelling my white turtleneck and it was creepy as hell!”
“I never—”
“Who’s gay now,” Wonshik mumbled and Hongbin glared at him from the other end of the couch.
“You, Jung Taekwoon,” Jaehwan went on, “stop shoving food down my throat, I’m not a baby and I’m not your wife to try whatever you cook; your cooking always tastes the same and I’ll eat it without you forcing it into my mouth, anyway.”
Taekwoon opened his mouth, but before he could have said anything, Sanghyuk started snickering.
“Force it into his mouth,” he giggled.
“For God’s sake, Sanghyuk,” Hakyeon sighed, “you’re almost twenty-two, grow up already.”
“Hyung,” Jaehwan said and Hakyeon cocked an eyebrow at him. “I wish you would just sleep in your own bedroom when you’re feeling sappy, because it’s not much fun waking up with your morning wood up my ass.”
Sanghyuk choked on air, the remnants of his giggles stopping halfway out of his body while Wonshik gasped in sync with Hongbin. Hakyeon looked like someone poured hot water over his head and Jaehwan was almost surprised his face didn’t start emanating steam.
“Now then,” Jaehwan said, feeling the warmth creep down from his face onto his neck, almost like fever. “Can we just agree that you guys will stop fawning over me?”
There was silence for a few beats, the members staring at Jaehwan and Jaehwan staring back at each of them.
“I maintain my opinion that this is bullshit,” Taekwoon declared and strolled out of the living room.
“Nonsense,” Hongbin mumbled, though he was still blushing as he followed Taekwoon.
“Too easy,” Sanghyuk sighed and left the scene.
“You know, Jaehwan,” Hakyeon said, and he looked like he would cry any moment, “I feel hurt.”
Jaehwan rolled his eyes, but Hakyeon was already heading to his bedroom, so he couldn’t see it.
The only one left was Wonshik who was blinking fast, nails scraping the material of his jeans on his thighs. His expression said he would puke from embarrassment as soon as he left the living room, but he still glanced up at Jaehwan.
“I just wanted to say—”
“Oh, shut up!” Jaehwan yelled, and strode into his bedroom, slamming the door shut.
