Omg who are the characters in your blog banner???
HI HELLO HI!!!!!!!!!! HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU FOR ASKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
they're chizuru yukimura (girl) and kaoru nagumo (boy) from hakuouki (specifically ssl in that image). they're where my blog name comes from!!!!!!!
djhfjjdjfjfnfbf sorry im a little crazy about them. they were like;;;; one of my first incest ships like three million years ago ahahaha.
you didn't ask for it specifically, but here's their backstory for the og games/anime/etc under the read more (cause it's A Lot):
chizuru and kaoru were born to the head of a clan of demons. though we don't see a lot of their past when they were super young, what we do see is really sweet and cute (such as one making a flower crown for the other).
unfortunately that ended when humans attacked the clan and basically wiped it out one night. chizuru and kaoru managed to flee together at the age of like. 6? 7? idk, they were pretty young.
now, depending on the media, some make it so that they were both taken in by their uncle, until a different demon clan contacted him requesting the female heir (for demon mating purposes). kaoru ending up going in chizuru's place in order to protect her.
otherwise, the story goes that kaoru and chizuru lost each other while running away, with kaoru being found and mistakenly assumed to be the female heir by the same clan mentioned before, and chizuru being found by their uncle.
either way, the other demon clan was furious when they discovered they'd gotten the male heir instead of the female one, and it's implied that kaoru faced physical and sexual abuse at their hands for years because of this.
cut to like 10 years later. chizuru has forgotten all about kaoru, and thinks that her uncle is her father. she also doesn't remember anything about being a demon. plot stuff happens, she has to crossdress as a boy to find her "father", she makes friends with a group of samurai, yadda yadda yadda. there's like artificial demon stuff happening too, where people are being made into DemonsLiteTM, and it's pretty fucked up.
this is when kaoru first shows up. he's pretending to be a woman (yeah, he and his sister reunite while they're both crossdressing lol) and is being harassed by some men when chizuru and co save him. chizuru doesn't recognize him, but she is curious because they look so similar (which one of her friends points out; the other says they don't look alike at all, which is really funny haha). he's all mysterious and leaves and that's it for a little bit.
eventually he shows up again to pretty much just cause trouble (he tries to turn one of her friends into a fake demon), but he hides himself, so she's oblivious to the fact that he's behind so much. he's just orchestrating stuff from the shadows for now.
when he does confront her, he admits they're twins and explains everything that happened when they were little. chizuru obviously has trouble grappling with these new revelations. she rejects his offer to join him, saying that she can't betray her friends.
depending on the media, he might try to kill her, or in other scenarios, he doesn't even offer her to join him at all (iirc). usually he has a little rant about how much he hates her for being so oblivious and living a happy life while he suffered. yeah :')
regardless, one thing always happens at the end: kaoru dies. in the anime series (not to be confused with the movies), he's killed by another demon. before he dies, he crawls towards chizuru and asks her why she wouldn't go with him. she finally remembers him, cupping his cheek, but it's too late. he dies.
but!!!! that's only in the og hakuouki universe (set in edo japan iirc)!!! i haven't even talked about the spin-off game that takes place in a highschool: hakuouki sweet school life!!!!
in ssl, chizuru's just a normal highschool student whose biggest worry is the fact that she just joined an all-boys school. kaoru's still her estranged twin brother, but they get along much *much* better than in the og story. he's also suuuuper protective of her, but refuses to admit it and often times insults her because he doesn't know how to be affectionate (tsunderes my beloved <3).
ssl has routes for all the main guys, just like the og game(s), but!!! it also has a route for kaoru!!!! which the og game didn't have!!!! (which im not salty about at all, in case you were wondering..........)
the routes are all very similar, with chizuru trying to get closer to her love interest--btw kaoru is not officially considered a *romantic* love interest, but.....a lot of the dialogue says otherwise--through giving gifts, spending time together, etc. her moments with kaoru are adorable, enough so that i ended up falling entirely in love with their au selves. other than them, i've never had a highschool au that i've enjoyed, canon or otherwise.
during the short game, chizuru wants to deepen her bond with kaoru, as they've lived most of their lives apart (kaoru was adopted by a different family when they were younger). she makes him valentine's chocolates and even goes out of her way to bring them to school to give him on valentine's day, despite the fact all outside snacks are banned. (side note: the reason that this is a rule is because kaoru, who's a part of the disciplinary committee, knew valentine's was coming up and didn't want chizuru to confess to anyone/be confessed to. so he made it an official school rule using his powers lol.)
he catches her with the chocolates before she can explain they're for him, and makes a huge fuss and basically berates her in front of the whole school, leading to her shouting they're for him. after which he's like "....oh. you should've said that sooner." and grabs her and runs away so they can be in private. btw when she confessed some students who were watching were like "isn't this a bit too close, even for siblings??" which is so funny.
anyways kaoru thanks her for the chocolates but is suuuuper tsundere about it and it's the cutest thing ever!!!!! and he says he'll be sure to pay her back on white day. the entire time this takes place under a sakura tree, which is such a common trope for animes and stuff to have characters confess under.
OH i almost forgot, but in a previous part of the game, chizuru sprains her ankle and kaoru gives her a piggy back ride!! just wanted to mention that because it was a really adorable moment. okay yeah back to after valentine's day.
there's a time skip in the epilogue, and kaoru's now moving in with chizuru!! this is because her dad (uncle) is always away on trips overseas, and it's not safe for a girl to live alone (also it's lonely). so!!!! they canonically live together now!!!!!! the cg in my banner is from the end of the game, when they talk after he's pretty much completely moved in. it's soooo sweet and gahhhh. i love how these two get so many happy moments to make up for og chizuru and kaoru having to go through All Of That. it's such a nice comfort <3
okay i think that's all!!!! well, not everything, but that's all i can think of atm. WAIT I LIED. fun fact: in the og games they each have one half of a set of swords thatve been passed down in their (deceased) family for generations!! idk why, but something about that fact just makes my heart pang. like even before chizuru knew she had a brother, she was already carrying around a part of him with her, and she with him. aughhhhhhhh <3
that's all for now for real this time. um. yeah. i played ssl using an emulator and a fan translation on my laptop, so if anyone would like to know how to set that up so they can play it too, just lmk!!!! :3

Everytime i play Hakuouki, i keep thinking how nice it is or how much i wish their time locked in the 1864 - 1867 (before the time Itou faction seperate from them) just like some manga where the characters never really grows and stay as highschooler despite the series already going for years and they already celebrate new years or christmas 10 times along the series.
or maybe, how nice it is if they're not in Bakumatsu era and live in era where the shogunate still in a strong position... but again i don't have any basic japanese history knowledge to say this. Just desperately thinking about how to make what if scenario where they can forever just protect Kyoto peacefully or anywhere else without doing any war.
But well, Hakuouki's charm is how the characters live like Sakura flowers that bravely blooms and died gracefully in their own way. So i guess they don't suit this kind of theme (still desperately think of it tho)

So I have been slowly but surely playing variable barricade and have been able to finish the common route and Nayuta’s route after a couple of months, and now I want to write everything in my mind before moving on completely to Shion XD
Possible spoilers ahead 🙈
.
.
.
.
To sum it up, I have been enjoying this game so much, it is really shaping up to be my favourite otome game! (Sorry Hakuouki you are still special and dear to me, but yeah, I’m being objective here XD)
At first, I was wary and kept my expectations low because the reviews were quite mixed. And I was entering the game assuming it is pure romantic comedy. I won’t lie at the first couple of chapters, the more slice of life-y tone that has some comedy sprinkled left me waiting for the rom-com to kick in Ouran-style, but the moment I appreciated and drilled in the idea that this game is indeed more of a slice of life, character-study kind of story, I immediately started enjoying the common route immensely!
The dialogue is top-notch, the character interactions are so good, and the characters themselves are multi-faceted and feel so real in a good way.
The common route was enjoyable from start to finish, every sentence and piece of dialogue I enjoyed.
Of course, Hibari herself has a huge role to play in this. She was thrusted in a very extreme and difficult situation from her point of view, so every thing she has said or done (including her ‘bratty’ attitude) totally makes sense and perfectly portray a 17 yr old teenager.
Plus she’s cute, really really cute, protect my baby at all cost 😤
So yeah overall I have been hooked😆🤝
Now for Nayuta’s route, I like genki, himbo guys so was looking forward to his route, and it perfectly delivered. I like how in the beginning, Hibari, as a way to work upon making sense of her choice of him, creates this scenario of him being her guardian and acts like a typical teenage girl who falls in love, and despite this shattering because of how oblivious and one track minded he is, her pursuing of him actually caused a huge ripple in his very straightforward simplistic world, where he sets on one thing and clings unto achieving it despite everything else.
That gets me to the fact that he was described as ‘selfish’. Which was a really interesting way to describe him. And yeah that one track mindedness of his and straightforwardness makes him put his own desires first and foremost and in a way he is ‘selfish’. But interestingly, as I said, the ripple caused by Hibari led to him gradually maturing in a way that uses such straightforward and ‘selfish’ thinking in a way that is more balanced.
In fact, I think him being ‘selfish’ is not bad at all! It means that his desires, when being directed towards becoming better and to also be and support those whom he loves, is actually much more better than a ‘selfless’ person who might put societies needs above theirs and would consequently get hurt or even hurt those around them.
So as his route progresses, I liked how he gradually started cherishing Hibari as someone dear to him for personal reasons, not idealistic ones, and he redirected his guardian skills in a way that made him perceptive of Hibari’s needs and compared to the beginning of the route, he became much more understanding.
By the end, the same one track mindedness that is an inherent part of his personality as well as the ‘selfishness’ became the drive for him to fulfil his desire to help Hibari and to be with her.
So 10/10 XD
Now to continue Shion 🤌

Hakuouki headcanon: the Shinsengumi going to a ghost house
Modern settings, all the guys don't have the baggage from years of fighting and are not used to seeing gore. I end up tagging every character I mentioned but they don't necessarily get a detailed description of their reactions.
What if the Shinsengumu guys go to a ghost house together
Scenario: The baka trio is the one that comes up with the idea of going to a ghost house together with everyone else. Kondou agrees, thinking that it is good for group bonding. Hijikata and Sannan reluctantly agree.
The ones who will be very little scared or not scared at all: Kondou, Hijikata, Sannan, Nagakura, Harada, Shimada, Yamazaki, Souji, Saitou, Gen.
The ones who will be slightly scared: Heisuke.
The ones who will be most scared: Souma, Nomura.
What will happen:
Souji will be actively trying to make people scared by making ominous noises or sneaking up on them. Hijikata will be his first target but Hijikata is so used to Souji's bullshit that he will not act scared at all. Souji will also try to draw some reactions from Saitou but Saitou is so stoic that Souji fails to gain much reaction from Saitou. Souji will then try to pick up on Heisuke, who will get creeped out by sudden noises and scolds Souji for doing that. However, Souji's best success is when he tries to attempt those tricks on Souma and Nomura, who get scared awfully so they start shaking and say embarrassing stuffs loudly for everyone in the ghost house to hear.
Nagakura and Harada will be having fun talking about the elements of the ghost house. They will not be scared very much but when they see Heisuke being creeped out by Souji's trick, they will be making lighthearted jokes about Heisuke being still a kid and being scared of ghosts.
Hijikata will scold Souji for trying to scare people and everyone for being so loud.
Yamazaki will just be quietly walking with everyone while giving Souji judgmental glances.
Kondou and Gen will try to be the adults among these kids and fail spectacularly.
While all of this happens, Sannan stays silent but when he opens his mouth, the Shinsengumi realizes that the scariest thing among this ghost house is not any of the dummies or the staffs trying to scare them, it is Sannan. Sannan will probably attempt to make some people scared but unlike Souji, he will not be so obvious with his attempt and just add to the general ghost house atmosphere by making some seemingly unintentional comments. He will probably succeed at making Hijikata's spine feel chilly and enjoy teasing Hijikata. Yamazaki, Heisuke, Souma, Nomura number among the people who are his easiest victims. In the ghost house, the entire group gets separated at some point and it is said that the person who has to walk with Sannan alone (Yamazaki, Heisuke, Souma, or Nomura) comes out of the ghost house traumatized and forever changed. Since then, no one ever invites Sannan to go to a ghost house anymore.

(1/3) hii im the anon from before, thank u for the answer, i don’t mind the length at all!! the games being old/some never translated officially and a lot of weird possible bits about Chizuru’s life before the shinsengumi being ignored bc “otome mcs are blank slates, it’s not that deep” means it’s rare for ppl to try and analyze chizuru’s mental state and I think it’s such a shame like I’m aware that they could have done so much more with chizuru’s oni nature and sword skills (kinda infuriating lol) but I love her as a narrator and I think she’s an interesting character overall, she’s babygirl❤️. Kodo is inconsistent but he always has an agenda for taking care of Chizuru (especially bad in Saito’s and in Sannan’s route)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hello again anon,
Sorry for the delay in my answer. I was very happy to receive this ask but a gap in internet connexion and some personal issues prevented me from answering it sooner.
To continue on Chizuru being emotionally isolated, yes Chizuru never thinking about getting married is what brought to my attention that something was wrong in the way she saw her own future. If all the lies Kodo fed her had been true, the most likely outcome for her life should have been to marry a man (either an assistant of her father he would have adopted, or another doctor or someone of similar social standing). I am not saying Chizuru should have been eager to get married. But, as a 16 years old girl, she should have started seriously considering it. Because it was an extremely likely scenario for how her life was going to play out.
Yet there is nothing, no dread at the idea of marrying someone, no eagerness, no annoyance at the prospect of having the same life for the rest of her life… Nothing. As if the idea had never even occurred to her. And since she did not have any other plan to replace this one we are left with what? Her staying with her father forever? How was she supposed to live if anything happened to him? It is as if she did not have any life, any future, outside of him. Something was very wrong there.
More than Chizuru's sword skills, on which I already gave my opinion when commenting on the movies (basically I am fine with Chizuru's strength not being her fighting skills and find her reluctance to enter a sword fight despite having some skills to be a perfectly valid character trait but I wished she was showed ready to use it in specific situations, in which she is defending people, more often), it is her relationship with her oni nature that frustrate me the most. Chizuru is not human, period. And she is so very not human, that she is even less human than some other oni and that makes her extra special even to oni. This discovery should be earth shattering for her, especially considering how human she is in the other sense of the word. And it is not really explored. It is explored a bit, like when her and Souji bound on their newfound 'monstrosity', but not enough to my taste. I wish Hakuouki dived into this way more than it did.
Considering what you are saying, I am sad to not have an access to Sannan' route (though I am still hoping for a Switch release of the newest translated games). Worst case scenario I will try finding it on youtube or something like this.
I am pretty sure Kodo said he was "wrong to let Chizuru have any freedom at all" in the movie. Death to Kodo! Death!!!!!!
You talk about her finding punishment (or punishing behaviors) normal and the things is I am not even sure that at first Chizuru recognized some behaviors as punishment. They are just normal behaviors to find in normal relationship. Nothing to see there. And that is why I say again: DEATH TO KODO!
Your "I can't believe he thought about my feelings 🥺" has me like 😭😂 because this is exactly how I read this scene and it is infuriating from an outside POV. This man is doing the bare minimum, THE BARE MINIMUM, and Chizuru is like "has anyone being that kind to me before?". I want to shake everyone inside the Shinsengumi, including Chizuru, like an old grandma who is not getting her way at the local farmers market.
I think Chizuru actually has a lot of potential for development as a character, besides some inconsistencies that are linked to the fact that she must fit several different 'routes', and I am very happy that we are taking time to discuss her.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

May I request “After everything we’ve been through, you still don’t think that I love you?” for Sakamoto?
Ah! Sakamoto Ryouma. I adored him and his route. He was one of the first characters I played though, following Sannan and Kazama, so please bear with me. :) Thank you for the request! I actually really enjoyed writing it and had to keep myself from getting carried away. I had a lot of ideas spark, and who knows? Maybe I’ll make a mini-series based on this request.
The first time he had laid eyes on you, he saw just a sliver of a person. An eye, red and swollen from tears, skin that had lost its luster, and a frown upon dull lips. You occupied an inch of space between the shoji doors, clearly meaning to avoid attention, and the moment you had noticed his red eyes upon you, he noticed your one orb widen for a split second before the glimpse he had had of your beauty disappeared altogether.
He later learned your name and your purpose. A female demon. A rare specimen, according to Kaoru and Kodo.
When he had learned of just why they kept you here, he found himself sickened by the entirety of the situation. Furies. Truly, a crime against humanity as a whole, and he was one of them. At first, it seemed rather surreal--like a horrifying nightmare he would, at any moment, wake from. Or, perhaps, this was the afterlife. He was meant to be dead, after all.
But he was, in some capacity, alive now. And while Nakaoka seemed to thrive with his new-found powers as well as gain some form of trust from their “saviors”, Ryouma found that he the more he learned of this experiment, of which he was a part, the more he couldn’t stomach it. However, if he was to survive, and, perhaps, find a way to reverse this curse, he would have to feign loyalty.
He fulfilled the tasks given to him as if he were going through the motions. His existence was bleak, and the only thing keeping him going was the little bit of hope he held onto.
Added to the mix was his curiosity towards you.
He finally met you when he was told to bring you from your chambers to Kodo. The mad doctor had need of you, and while the thought of what he could possibly require you for made him nauseous, Ryouma did as he was told. He hated every bit of it.
You were beyond terrified, shaking like a leaf, and compliant in the way a broken animal was. Unable to help himself, he apologized to you when he left you within the room the old man conducted most of his research within.
He also apologized when he left you in your own chambers later that evening.
The next day, finding himself without much to do, he called upon you. At first, you thought he had come to collect you, as he had the day before, but after some reassurance, you had calmed enough to willingly allow him into your room. That first visit, you didn’t talk much, but Ryouma had no trouble filling the silence. After a few more late afternoons with him, you knew much about his life leading to this point, and feeling like he was someone you might be able to trust, you divulged a bit about yourself. He asked questions but never pushed for answers.
And he tried his best to get a smile or maybe even a laugh from you.
When he finally did see your beautiful features light up with a genuine grin, he realized that he had to help you escape.
It was during the next battle, when Kodo’s Furies were being put to use, that he took the opportunity. Under the cloak of night, he took your hand and urged your silence. Success seemed imminent, if not for Nakaoka having stayed behind. To Ryouma’s chagrin, his companion had noticed the increasing amount of time he had been spending with you; even now, despite his own madness, Nakaoka knew his friend.
Ryouma did his best to reason with him, but Nakaoka seemed dead-set upon starting the world anew, using the furies under Kodo and Kaoru’s command. The disagreement led to a fight to the death, one that Ryouma scarcely survived, and though it was an agonizing sight, you watched the man you loved break down over the immense loss he felt. He never wanted this--any of it--neither of you had.
It was the feeling of your hand upon his shoulder that reminded him. Time was of the essence. He could mourn and heal later.
The two of you escaped to Edo, finding refuge there in an abandoned clinic. It was there that Ryouma finally collapsed, his body--even with Fury blood--having decided it needed rest. You tended to him as best as you could, given the circumstances and the extent of your own knowledge, and he recovered soon enough.
You, too, had gained some of your strength and color back. The fresh air and freedom had done you both well. But as the days turned into weeks, you wondered just how long Ryouma planned on staying with you. Truthfully, you wished he would never leave your side, and foolish dreams plagued your mind--a future with him, maybe even a family.
However, you knew of his other love: the sea. It had to be only a matter of time. He had gotten an evening job at the docks once he felt well enough, and he was definitely saving up for something. The clinic was made your temporary home, and while you had also gotten a job as a waitress in the evenings, the two of you spent little and only on the necessities.
The day you feared would come finally did. It was mid-Spring, late-afternoon, when Ryouma returned from a rare day-trip into town. He hadn’t said where he was going, just promised to be back for dinner, and you didn’t pry. Instead, you occupied your time with laundry, and you were almost done hanging the clothes to dry when the man you adored approached you.
“I bought a ship,” he declared with a boyish grin. His excitement was obvious, an undeniable joy present in his amber eyes.
“That’s great!” You did your best to feign happiness for him, a makeshift smile stretching your lips as you heart crumbled to dust within your chest. “When...uh...” You turned towards the clothes line, hanging a towel and using it as an excuse to hide your face. “When do you plan on leaving?”
“Well, I don’t have a crew yet, but I expect to have some more money by the end of the month.” He already had a gorgeous woman he planned on making his second in command, and nothing could take the wind from his sails at that moment until he caught the way you worded your question.
His expression fell. Did you...? You didn’t want to come with him? Or did you think he’d leave you?
Determined to find out, he placed a hand upon your shoulder, his voice as gentle as his touch, “You are coming with me, right?”
You turned to look at him, tears very obviously filling your eyes as they searched his features for some sort of sign that he was teasing you--he liked to do that. But when you realized that he was completely serious, you found yourself gawking at him, unable to make a sound.
His other palm found your unoccupied shoulder as he stepped closer to you. He uttered your name before saying, “After everything we’ve been through, you still don’t think that I love you? I thought I’ve been pretty obvious...I want to spend the rest of my life with you, however long that may be.” He paused for a second or two, giving you some time to allow his words to sink in before speaking once more: “I love you. I want you to come with me.”
You had never felt such affection towards anyone in all your life, and when Kaoru and Kodo had held you hostage, you thought you never would. So, you threw yourself into his arms, sobbing into his chest as you nodded vigorously.
How could you have ever deny him of such a precious wish when it was one you shared?
Send me a prompt from this list + a Hakuoki boy!

[Okita x Reader]
Summary: Who would’ve thought that one night patrol would bring so much troubles? Okita didn’t want to be transported to a future land, neither to be involved in demon’s business. But what other choince did he have, but  to stay?
moodboard | masterlist | pervious
Once I hold out the compensation...
“Hello,” the man said, his katana ready in his hands. “We’ve got a score to settle, crow.”
You looked at him dumfouned. And then back at the tengu. It was a crazy day, and it seemed night would be even worse. Wait a minute, did he said ‘crow’?
How could he see him? Yokai were usually invisible to normal humans anyway. Souji, you agreed just for a while to call him this, leaped at the yokai with a katana in his hand. It was idiotic, he was an actor wasn’t he? What could he do!?
Tengu slashed with his weapon at him, and you felt your jaw dropping when Souji deflected the blow.
You quickly shook yoursefl from the shock and reached for your pocket. You grasped a paper manikin in your fingers and concentrated. No matter how powerful the cosplayer was, you weren’t going to let him die by yokai hand. Blue glow surrounded your hands.
‘’By the name of Amaterasu-no-kami, I summon thee,” you clasped your hands together. ‘’Akagitsune, come forth!”
With your call, the paper flew out of your hands and chainged into a fox. A kitsune, because it was you shikigami took its stance.
‘’I cleanse thee!” you shouted and the kitsune attacted Tengu. It wasn’t expecting the attack, so the opening was quickly found. Soiji looked confused at you, but the sound of a screeching yokai brought him back to his senses. He slashed the bird and it puffed in a black mist. You blinked. ‘’How did you do that?!”
‘’What?”
‘’How did you cleanse that Tengu?” you asked as Akagitsune stood just beside you. Little red fox  rubbed his mug in your legs.
‘’What are you talking about?”
‘’May I see the sword?’’ you reached for the katana. Maybe it was one of those weapons some Onmyouji carried around with them, packed with spiritual energy.
‘’Hell no,” he clicked his tounge. ‘’What were you doing? How did that fox appeared?”
‘’Geez, you’re so uncooperative, Souji,” you sighed. ‘’This is my shikigami, Akagitsune. Don’t you know? You have a sword that can slash yokai!”
He looked at you as if he was talking to a crazy woman. You stared back. You felt a buzz in your pocket. You looked at your phone, just to see your grandma calling. She just learned how to use a smartphone and would call you with every little thing.
‘’Sorry, I gotta get that,” you said with a smile. He just rised his brew. ‘’Hi, grandma. What is it?”
‘’_____?!” your grandma’s voice shierked through the phone. You hissed, messaging your ear. ‘’Are you there?!”
Souji jumped in his place and stared at you with raised katana. His muscles were tense once again.
‘’I’m here, grandma, please don’t shout,” you replied.
‘’I felt disturbance, what happened?” her a little bit hoarse voice came from the other side. You tapped your chin, perhaps she was talking about the tengu? But yokai appeared quite often, no matter how powerful onmyouji she was, such small disturbance wouldn’t alert her. Afterall, yokai were common. Yes, your grandma was onmyouji as well, all you knew you knew from her. She was retired at the moment, but she still responded to the other shore.
Though, more you pondered about it, tengu appearing here was out of ordinary. You usually cleansed small demons, that were causing minimal troubles, it was quite uncommon to see more powerful yokai in that region. It still happened from time to time though.
‘’No worries granny, I took care of it,” you chirped. It was best to not worry your grandma.
‘’Are you sure?”
‘’Yep!” you replied. ‘’I’ll see you later! Bye!”
You hung with a sigh, when a flash of a blade passed before your eyes. Your phone, a second ago held in your hand, now was falling to the ground. With another slash it was shattered in two pieces and you stood face to face with a stranger. He grasped your shirt and brought his face closer. His green eyes gleamed in the darkness as he squinted them.
‘’What kind of witchcraft is that?” Souji hissed and you felt his blade on your neck. You gulped as your heart started to beat quicker. “Ack!”
He turned to his feet where your shikigami was biting on his leg. Akagitsune growled and his red eyes glared at your attacker.
‘’What do you mean witchcraft?” you asked. Your voice trembled a little.
“That thing,” he spat, pointing at your phone. “It talked.”
“What,” you asked, once again dumbfounded. Your fear was slowly fading, when behing his glare you saw simple confusion. ‘’Phones are used for talking. Haven’t you used a phone before?”
“P-hone?” he repeated after you. His grasp was loosening. His face twisted for a moment and he glared at kitsune, “let go, furball.”
Akagitsune for a second looked insulted and with a small growl he tightened its grip.
“Akagitsune, let go,” you hushed. Kitsune without haste stepped to your side.
You turned your gaze back to Souji. “You too, please. Thank you,” you coughed and made a step back. You noticed he still held his katana ready to strike. You gulped, “How come, you don’t know what phone is?”
This time it was Souji who looked insulted, ‘’how can I know something, if I’ve never seen it?”
“But how?! It’s twenty first century, everyone has a phone now!”
Your hands went to the air. The man before you stood froze, his stare was making you uncomfortable. You could almost see question marks filling up the air. Of air speaking of – it was getting quite cold.
“What did you say?” he asked, slowly.
‘’Everyone has a phone today?”
“Earlier,” he sent you glare. “Answer quick, woman, or you’ll be dead in a second.”
You flinched as he raised his sword. You looked at Akagitsune by yourside and took deep breath, if anything would go wrong you could always count on your shikigami. Or at least you hoped.
“It’s twenty first century,” you replied, tensing your muscles. He did look serious, and his threat sounded convincing enough for you to be wary. You hadn’t even noticed that you’ve been keeping your breath in.
He was eyeing you, without blinking, and a second later he glanced at the lamp over your heads, where minutes earlier tengu appeared.
‘’It’s 1866, early April,” he spoke, still looking at the lamp.
“Uh,” you frowned. “You’re right, but only when it comes to the month,” you said, taking his appearance to consideration. You recalled the stack of his clothing he was brought to the hospital with. Wet samurai clothing. Katana. Long hair. Okita Souji, born 1844 as you almost wrote in the application. “It’s 2016. It’s been 150 years since bakumatsu period, it’s heisei era.”
His eyes flashed back to you. He coughed and clasped his hand around his abdomen. With the whole chaos surrounding tengu you forgot he was a patient in hospital, not just any. But hit in his abdomen and with tuberculosis. It sounded crazy, but – damn, everything was in its place. Dr Matsumoto even said that this wound was weird and couldn’t be given by a kitchen knife.
He fell onto his knee and you rushed to help him up. He pushed you back and started to cough again. You saw his consciousness fading as his sword fell onto the ground. You caught him just in time before he would hit his head.
“Oh, dear, I caught you,” you sighed. The morphine must have run out and he was definitely too tired to keep consciousness. You checked his wounds, but it seemed to be fine, a little blood stopped when you added the pressure to it. It was crazy, you were crazy. You were definitely not in the right state of mind if you really believed that this man was the Okita Souji of Shinsengumi. You put him on his back and stood up, “Great, my phone is dead. How am I going to explain it to insurance? Samurai from Bakumatsu Era striked it because it looked like a witchcraft?!”
Your messaged your temples and went back and forth, with Akagitsune glancing at you.
“I can’t just bring him back to the hospital, can I?” you asked the red fox. He blinked, not giving you any answer. “They saw me, and I told them everything was under control, right? And, uh, calling an ambulance is out of a question and my work resume would look horrible with addition of walking in the middle of the night with a patient,” you tapped your chin. “Well, he wasn’t admitted to the hospital yet, so there is no record of him anyway, right?”
Akagitsune cocked his head and sighed. His fluffy tail was moving back and forth. You pursed your lips.
‘’Granny is going to kill me,” you wailed and kneeled by the man. You threw his arm around your shoulder and rose up. You lost balance for a second and with a groan you took a step. Luckily for you your home wasn’t too far away and you knew the shortcut by this forest. You glanced at shikigami, “Aren’t you gonna help me?”
Kitsune snickered and with a flush of a blue flame he disappeared. On the ground fell small papercut manikin that just a second ago was your Akagitsune.
‘’Damn you,’’ you hissed and put the paper in your pocket. ‘’Okay, let’s go.” He was heavy, you decided after a few minutes, not to mention his sword was adding more to the weight. It wasn’t far from your home, but still – you weren’t used to carry, or rather drag, a grown man. You stopped by the stairs to the temple. That’s right, you lived in a temple. Well, not exactly in the temple, but at the area of it. You saw a figure on the top of the stairs.
Your grandma was standing under the gate, and she turned to you when you called out. She walked down, with each step you could see her face more clearly. Her gray hair, put in a high bun, turned silver in the moonlight. Her wrinkled face held a frown, as she quickened her steps.
“_____, what happened?” she asked you. You were staggering with Souji on your shoulder. Your grandma took a hold onto his arm.
“Help?”
She nodded and both of you dragged him up the stairs. You felt bad to make your granny carry him along with you, but you wouldn’t been able to do it yourself. You passed the main temple and stopped by your home. You brought him to vacant room and laid down on the futon.
Your grandma checked his forehead and turned to you, “fetch a bowl with a water.”
You stood up without missing a heartbeat and went for the bowl. You took some compress with you as well as bandages. In a few minutes you were back in the room. You sat down and put the compress on his head while your grandma was working on his bandages. His condition seemed to be better than the paleness you saw when he was brought here at first. His breath was slower and he looked like he was just sleeping. You guessed it was a little bit too much of a fatigue for a one day.
‘’Now, mind telling me who this young man is?” your grandmother asked once you left the room. You smiled.
‘’He is magically brought back from the past Okita Souji of the Shinsengumi?” Your grandma’s deep brown eyes stared at you.
“It’s the truth, I swear!” you half yelled. She just shook her head and made her way through the corridor.
‘’We’ll talk about it in the morning,” she summed up and left.
You stood uncertain in the hall. Suddenly the fatigue took over you and you decided good night sleep would do you good.
***
You woke up early in the morning, when the sun weren’t even up. You were glad it was still a break and you didn’t have any lectures. You rubbed your eyes and stood up. Last night’s memories came back rushing into you and you made your way into the stranger’s room. You shifted the doors and peeked inside.
Souji was just pushing himself up. He took off the compress from his head. He looked around the room, little relieved perhaps. You smiled and opened the doors fully.
‘’Good morning!” you chirped. His head shot in your direction and he paled. ‘’Did you rest well?”
“You…!” he pointed at you, his brew twitching. “So last night?”
You cocked your head.
“Oh, yeah! You fainted and I brought you to my home,” you sat by his futon.
‘’Granny’s been taking care of you.”
He frowned deeply and send you a glare.
‘’You said last night, which year is it?” he asked with tired tone.
‘’2016! Oh, wait. I’ll bring you calendar in case you’d want to stab me to death again.”
You shuffled and went to your room for the calendar, when you were back he was on his feet, opening the doors to the garden. You also took a stack of history books with you.
‘’Well, so,” you called out to him. ‘’If you’re really who you really are, and that is 150 something years old samurai, then… um. you’re dead.”
You sat down on the floor and opened history book you’ve kept since high school. You shuffled the pages till you found right period and pointed at the letters. Souji had no choice but to kneel down by you, he took the book in his hands and squinted.
‘’You’re joking with me,” he hissed. You showed him the calendar with pursed lips.
‘’Well, you’re the suspicious guy here,” you huffed. ‘’And honestly, how are you even here? You should be dead, no offence.’’
‘’None taken, though I wonder whether I should slit your throat right now, or in a few seconds.”
You send him a pointed look and sighed. Should you even believe him, or just send him to the psychiatrist. Both things suited. ‘’Look, I can even take you to see your grave, though you’d have to wait for visiting hours. And around three months.”
‘’Visiting hours?”
You nodded, skipping some pages in your textbook.
‘’Yep, it’s famous. I mean, you’re famous” you said. ‘’And it’s opened for one day in July. I wonder how it is to see your own grave, though.”
You tapped your chin.
‘’Damn yokai…” he cursed under his breath.
‘’Agreed, but what do you mean?”
He clicked his tounge.
‘’Nevermind,” he said and stood up. He went up to his futon where you put his katana last night and picked it up. ‘’I’m getting out of here.’’
You blinked. Once, twice. And watched as he shot the doors behind him. Hell no, you thought. You leaped after him, and for a injured person he was rather quick. How did he even knew how to walk through your house you had no idea. You caught up with him when he was at the courtyard before the temple.
‘’What the…?” he hissed. ‘’That temple...” He looked around and then walked down the stairs, or rather, run down. You called after him, but he didn’t listen to you.
You went after him, passing by some visitors to the temple by the chance. They were looking after you with a surprised looks. You run through the forest, as your stomach started grumbling. You cursed the samurai under your breath and kept following him between the trees. You two stopped by the river.
You panted as you stopped by the man. You didn’t even had a chance to shout after him as he leaped into the water.
“Souji?! Hey?!” you screamed.
After a while his head appeared over the water. He stood up in the water, and looked down.
‘’Get out, quickly!” you shouted. You took a few steps in the water and you felt your feet freezing. You trembled and called, ‘’You’ll get cold!”
Then you remembered that they brought him to the hospital soaked. Person calling the ambulance said that they found him by the river.
‘’Oh, dear…” your sighed. ‘’I, uh, am guessing you transported to the future by this river?”
He didn’t bother looking at you and just cursed. His hand made a contact with water and splashed it around, with a hiss of pain. You stood uncertain. Souji was standing in the water for a while, but after a few minutes he went back to the shore.
‘’You can stay at the temple, you know? For a time being, until we figure out how to send you back,” you offered. ‘’Having a historical figure under my roof sounds kinda amazing.”
You laughed lamely and scratched your cheek. He looked over you, with droplets of water sliding down his cheeks in the morning sun. His green eyes didn’t seem so dangerous anymore. He looked just tired.
“Okay?”
He seemed to ponder on it. He slowly nodded.
“Okay.”
“Oh, thank gods,” you let out your breath, “because I’m here inmy pjamas and people are starting to stare.”
You send him a nervous smile, pointing behind you. Some runners and bikers were looking after you two with confusion. Souji looked in their direction and put his sword on his shoulders, straightening his back. With a pride he started walking back to the temple. You laughed.
‘’Why are you laughing, woman,” he asked.
‘’It’s not woman,” you said, falling step in step with him. “My name’s _____, a miko-hime of Amaterasu Temple and Onmyouji!”
He rolled his eyes.
“All right, miko-hime of Amaterasu Temple, whatever.”
“Gee, I always might take my offer back.”
“Too late,” he smirked.
You stared at him. It might be the first time you saw a glimpse of a smile.
“What?”
“Nothing. Let’s go.”
It’s going to be interesting, you thought.
I wonder what I will gain in return?

hey author, can you write a scenario of Hijikata (from Hakuouki) when his s/o has really horrible period cramps? what will he do to help her and etc. thanks!
A/N: Aww. Of course. Who can refuse some Toshi Fluff? I hope you enjoy!
He had a medical background so he has a good understanding of them. Not to mention his older sister.
Expect some very effective home remedies. He would also ask Inoue-san to bring you some hot water or tea once in a while.
If they don't work, he would send Saitou to get some medicine.
If it somehow still doesn't work, he will ask Yamazaki to check up on you.
He would ask you, whenever he has free time, if you are alright and need anything. If you do need something, someone would be sent immediately to fetch it.
It's not like he doesn't want to comfort you himself. He really, really does but he is buried under work and has no time.
When you voice your thoughts and say you want him to be close, he thinks: The paperwork can go fuck itself for tomorrow. For now, you need him more.
Now, he tends to you himself, stroking your hair gently before placing a light kiss on your forehead as he places his warm, comforting hand over your abdomen. This is it. This is what you needed to relax and doze off. Finally.

Hello, how are you? I think your blog is amazing and the dedication you put in each ask is lovely. Could I ask baka trio headcanons when their crush flirt with them in joke? I hope you've a nice day!
Oh wow thank you!! I’m great, how are you anon? This prompt is so adorable omg 😭 I’m getting back into writing fics after a long hiatus and honestly having requests to answer is very helpful because I need a lot of practice writing the Hakuouki crew. So thank you for sending this!
With these I’m assuming it’s a reciprocated crush, or that there’s at least some level of interest on both sides. (These also turned into another set of f/m headcanons–I’ll try to keep things more inclusive in the future!) Get ready for a text wall let’s gooooo
Shinpachi
You would totally knock him off his game!
Shin is definitely no stranger to women thanks to the red-light district. In front of you he always insists that he just goes to have a few drinks and let off some steam after a long day, but he’s also spent a good amount of time flirting with and being flirted at by geisha and oiran. It’s the sort of female attention he’s comfortable with, because there’s this mutual understanding on both sides that it’s all a pleasant business interaction.
But you’re a different story. Flirting coming from you just feels…weird. You’re his friend.
Well…
If he’s honest with himself, he’s started having some feelings for you that go deeper than friendship. But that’s not a reality he’s not remotely ready to confront, because he’s not sure you feel the same way about him.
Because shit, what if you’re not even trying to flirt with him at all? As far as he knows you haven’t had a really serious relationship before. Maybe you don’t realize what you’re doing. Maybe you don’t know how a guy takes it when a girl teases him for showing off his (albeit very nice) muscles, or accidentally brushes arms with him too often, or laughs at even his dumbest jokes. Maybe it’s all just your way of kidding around with a guy you only see as a friend. It sends his mind traveling around in circles. Shin has trouble thinking straight with you.
In the beginning it all started as good fun between two friends. From day one Shinpachi was someone you just felt comfortable around. He was honest, he spoke his mind, and he didn’t really have a filter with you. It was refreshing; the other men seemed to watch what they said around you a bit because you were a girl. Not Shin.
This did cause some awkward moments at first. You’d notice him double-taking at a pretty face walking past, then he’d realize you caught him and feel compelled to apologize to you for some reason, and you couldn’t help laughing at the sheepish way he scrubbed at his hair when he got embarrassed.
After a couple repetitions of this he finally started loosening up–it even became a type of I-Spy game you’d play together during walks through the city.
‘Ooh…cute maiko coming up on the right…’ You tip him off. Watching the sly way he glanced the girl over was like witnessing a master practice his finest craft. He shrugged a shoulder. ‘Eh, bit thin.’
The first time you responded in kind about a handsome young samurai, you’d think you shattered his entire world to pieces. ‘What? What’s with the face? Girls notice too, you know.’
He’s still staring at the man warily, as if he was a sudden threat. ‘I guess.’
‘Though he is a bit thin…’ You repeat his words without thinking. For a second you both catch each other’s eye, then break away in awkward laughter, the mood between you suddenly shy.
Day by day something shifts in the way he acts around you. Where at first he had no qualms giving back a brash retort when you teased him about his taste in women, now he seems especially chagrined by it. There’s something so gratifying about seeing him ruffle at your playful prodding, this big lug of a guy who used to share all kinds of details about his preferences for everything from women’s hair color to their shoe size.
It’s a little bit…no, it’s very adorable. You find yourself drawn to him more and more because of those moments, and for some unknown reason it makes you want to find small excuses to touch him. You prod him with an elbow, or give him little knocks with your shoulder, trying to let him know that it’s all in good fun.
Eventually Shinpachi will reach a breaking point with you. He’ll realize his fear of misunderstanding your relationship has been eclipsed by the need to know just what the hell is going on between you two, and why you keep picking on him in a way he doesn’t feel equipped to deal with anymore.
‘Come on, Shin…you can tell me! Who’s your type, anyway? I know you how much you love Kyoto women, but there’s so many kinds to choose from. Is it short girls? Tall girls? Blonde girls? What type do you really–’
He wheels around on you. ‘You, okay?!’
You blink up at him, suddenly feeling very small faced with his broad frame. ‘…Me what?’
‘My type is someone like you, all right? It’s you. You’re my type.’
There’s a tinge of pink across his cheeks, but he’s looking down at you with a pure and serious determination that makes your insides feel very warm.
‘Oh…’
Sanosuke:
To be honest Sano never thought he could have a thing for such a spirited woman. He tends to go for the sweet type, so realizing he has feelings for a woman who acts so playful around him would be kind of a new experience.
The truth is he’s very direct and open about his emotions. If he’s crushing on you, you’re going to know, and he’s not going to feel an ounce of embarrassment about something so natural as caring for someone. The fact that you’re actually flirting back without hesitation will be unexpected, even if for you it’s a bit of a smokescreen. It flips the script on him.
Inside? He makes you very nervous. Maybe even terrified. He’s just so full of confidence all the time, about everything. He says and does things that knock the wind straight out of you–like telling you that you look pretty when you laugh, or reaching over to calmly brush a stray leaf out of your hair with that warm smile. You realize you can either melt into an incoherent puddle every time he’s around, or you can find a defense mechanism, fast.
So you start evading the intensity of his attention with humor. It’s supposed to lighten things up between you, maybe keep him at a bit of a distance, but it soon becomes clear your plan is rapidly backfiring on both of you.
When you deflect his serious attempts to get to know you better with a coy joke, instead of putting distance between you, it only seems to draw him closer. His tawny eyes linger on your face, seeking to read your true feelings there.
‘You sure you’re okay?’ He’s looking down at you with that expression of kind concern, you can hear it in his voice, but you know better than to meet his eye.
‘Oh of course, Captain Harada! You know me–’ You make a big production of shifting the stacks of papers in your arms, trying to distract from the loud thump of your heartbeat. What if he’s close enough to hear it too… ‘The chief’s busy applying for new headquarters, and I’m his right-hand girl, so I can’t take it easy can I? But how sweet of you to worry.’ You cast him your brightest, most impish smile, still not quite looking him in the eye.
‘Hmm.’ His response is thoroughly unconvinced. ‘I do worry. You can’t keep working so hard all the time, you know? You’re going to get sick if you overwork yourself.’ And before you can do anything to stop it, he’s placed his cool palm against the skin of your forehead.
‘Ah, thought so. You’re warm. Probably got a fever…your face is all pink.’
‘N-no!’ It comes out more of a yelp than you intended. ‘No, I’m sure it’s just the weather–Kyoto summers are much hotter than I’m used to–’ You manage to twist away from his contact. ‘Besides, you shouldn’t go around putting your hands all over a girl’s face. You’ll give her the wrong idea.’
He’s thoroughly amused by you. ‘Oh? Like what?’
‘Come on, you know what I mean…’ Somehow you manage a breezy laugh. And then you high-tail it away from him with a string of excuses about your work, feeling his gaze on your back all the way, clinging to your crumbling facade until you’re at least out of his sight.
His persistence only makes it harder to keep putting him off. You can’t help being attracted by everything you learn about him; from his kindness toward women and children, to his bravery as a captain, to the look on his face when he’s listening to you talk about your day. It makes a sharp ache rise in your chest. You’re starting to panic.
Because you’re not supposed to fall for this guy–he’s a soldier, a man who stakes his life every day on his honor and his duty to his chief and the shogunate. Falling for someone like him could be disastrous. You have to stay aloof. And whatever you do, he cannot know that you’re starting to fall for him in spite of yourself.
But Sano is Sano, and he’s rapidly figuring out what’s going on here. It’s a strange kind of summer weather indeed that only seems to affect your face when you’re near him…
Very gently at first, he starts to test the waters. In a way he can’t help being impressed with your dedication. Even in moments when he turns up the charm in an attempt to catch you off-guard, to levels that have won over many women in his past, you somehow manage to respond with your own slew of defenses. It becomes a kind of sparring match between you two; each one equally determined to emerge from the fray on top. He’s only more attracted to you because of it.
And you–you start to realize that you never stood a chance against him in the first place, not under the full weight of the Harada charisma. He’s rapidly disarming you.
‘Hey, did you hear what I said?’ His voice calls you out of your daze. With a jolt, you realize you’d been staring at his mouth as his words went in one ear and out the other.
‘Oh! I’m sorry, Harada. I think I must be…tired or something.’ Had he been standing this close to you the whole time? He’s so tall that you have to angle your head back to meet his eyes. Something in his face is very serious tonight; it makes you feel like you’re rooted to the floor in front of him.
He feels it, too. His body bends slightly in your direction. ‘Listen. There’s something I’ve been wanting to do for a while…but I’d like to know it’s something you want, too.’
Oh? Oh. Oh no. A string of disconnected retorts pass through your brain, none of them gaining traction. You can feel the warmth from his body as he leans dangerously closer.
There’s a pause, like a question hanging between you both. His eyes are soft as they read your expression. Unbidden, you feel your chin tip upward toward him. He meets you in the middle…and then his lips are on yours and his arms draw you in to press against his chest and you find your hands seeking his shoulders.
It all only lasts for a moment. He’s first to break away, and you could swear now that his eyes are laughing at you. ‘No comeback?’
‘Give me a minute.’ You’re already rising on tip-toe, ready to wipe away that smile. ‘I’ll think of something…’
Heisuke:
You are laughing at him and honestly he is offended!
Not really, truly offended. You two have been friends since day one, because after all, this is Heisuke we’re talking about. The guy could make friends with a houseplant.
He’s offended in the way he gets pissed at Nagakura and Harada for their good-natured teasing–lots of ‘hey, quit!’s and rambunctious play-fighting–only now it’s with you, this young woman his age who still teases and openly pokes fun at him. He’s never met a girl like you before. He doesn’t know how he’s allowed to respond. It’s alarming, quite frankly.
For a long time he’s torn back and forth between annoyance and attraction toward you. You do little things that get under his skin, especially ragging on him about his size. Heisuke’s taller than you, but not by much; a fact that you’ve innocently brought to his attention more than once. He reminds you at one point that he could still beat you up with both hands behind his back, a remark that’s unfortunately overheard by Nagakura and earns him a slap to the back of the head for being such a ‘fucking idiot talking that way to a lady.’ You only laugh a little bit.
But it’s not always a catfight between you two. He almost wishes it was; that would make this all much easier to figure out. It only makes him more confused when your mood suddenly turns softer or sweeter toward him. There are moments when he catches you watching him at dinner, though you quickly look down when he catches your eye, your expression almost shy. You can be surprisingly easy to talk to, on the nights when it’s just the two of you sitting out on the porch in the breeze.
Heisuke finds himself looking forward to those moments with you, particularly after the memorable night when you dozed off against his shoulder. You’d grown very quiet beside him, when out of nowhere he felt a light pressure and looked down to find your head pressed on his arm, your lashes two dark crescents across your cheeks, breathing through slightly parted lips. He sat frozen still until long after the feeling left his legs.
Pretty soon Heisuke’s frustration about it all will boil over and he’ll need to pay a visit to Harada-Sensei for lady advice. Harada will listen in bemused silence as Heisuke rambles out his thoughts, pacing circles around the floor.
‘…and sometimes she’s just…she’s so cute, it’s stupid! How do I tell her that when she treats me like her brother? Maybe I should just give up, I don’t think she even sees me as a man sometimes. And she always knows just what to say to make me embarrassed! Damn it–’
‘Sit down,’ Harada will sigh, ‘You’ve got this all wrong…’
Dejected, Heisuke will slump down in a sad pile of boy and wait for Harada’s words of wisdom.
‘Didn’t you ever throw rocks at a girl when you were little, because you thought she was pretty and you didn’t know how to tell her? She’s doing the same thing to you, kid.’
‘What are you saying? You mean she…likes me? But you guys see how she always makes fun of me–plus she calls me short all the time and you said–!”
‘So what? She’s short too, dummy! How about that! Why don’t you stop whining and grow a pair and go get her if you like her so much?’
Heisuke will leave thoroughly chastised, but full of new energy at this startling idea that maybe…maybe he’s been a gigantic blind idiot this whole time…maybe all those moments he thought you were making fun of him, you were just as stiff and clueless as he felt inside. He finds you out in the courtyard, thankfully alone. Best if no one else is here to see this.
His expression catches you by surprise. ‘Heisuke, what’s wro–’ Two hands come down on both your shoulders, gripping you firmly in place. He’s stronger than he looks!
‘Look.’ His eyes are clear and determined. ‘I like you, okay? And I think you like me too, because you keep throwing rocks at me and stuff–’
‘Rocks? What are you–’ So much is happening at once; your chest is pounding.
‘Forget it, doesn’t matter now, just listen. I think I figured out why you give me so much crap and tease me all the time. You don’t have to say it out loud if you’re not ready, but I still want to tell you all the same. You’re the prettiest girl I’ve ever met, and I think you’re cute even when you’re being annoying and trying to pick fights with me, and I’ve been wanting to do this for a long time actually. Oh!’ he remembers something. ‘And you’re really short.’
‘You–!’ Your protest is cut short by his lips on yours, an awkward and sudden kiss that somehow leaves you short of breath all the same. When he pulls away, he’s glowing with a pure happiness that you just don’t have the heart to resist. You melt closer into him. ‘I think…I think you’re cute too, Heisuke.’
His beaming face falls a bit. ‘You shouldn’t really call a guy cu–’
‘Oh shut up, I like you back, just kiss me again–’

Hakuouki Headcanon: Okita Souji's Day Off
Modern setting. It is Saturday, a day you have been looking forward to all week. Souji isn't working and you can go spend a day together!
- Souji, however, is still in bed. He hasn't so much as stirred. He may have been awake a few hours ago and on his phone, but now, he is definitely sleeping. Drooling a little, too.
- Obviously, the best course of action is to snuggle that big, cuddly cat into waking. Throw yourself on top of him, or curl up on his chest. Whatever you choose, kissing him awake is a must. You have to give him incentive. (Right after you wipe that drool with the sheet.)
-He will immediately respond in turn, kissing you back freely with a hum akin to purring. He will probably wrap his arms around you and kiss you over your face. He might even spoon you, if he is awakened properly.
-Ask him if he wants breakfast, so you two can hit the town. He has a better plan. If you get some fancy coffees and donuts he will happily construct a snuggle fort with pillows and bedding. He plans to go nowhere. It is his day off and he would rather share company with you and only you.
-You leave, deciding to locate a place with gourmet donuts. Boy, does he have the sweetest tooth. Hopefully, he will be dressed upon your return. Placing an order for six gourmet donuts and two mocha frappuccino, you head back home. Dessert for breakfast.
-He wasn't kidding about a fort. It seems to be a pillow igloo built around a futon. A sheet is tightly tucked around the corners, a crawl space at the front for easy entry. His messy bedhair peeks out and he looks expectantly to you. Seeing that you have obeyed orders, he bids you to leave the goods just outside the bedding tent. Why did you even expect him to dress?
-You become thoroughly snuggled, bundled up underneath a plush duvet. He has turned the AC up, purposefully chilling the room to encourage more snuggles. This man really thought of everything.
-You come to realize this is how he recovers after the week. Lazing around without a care in the world. No reason to guard or try to impress. He can thoroughly be himself.
-You also discover how safe he feels with you. He is more open to you, whispering things he has never said before. He is more open about his pain and how glad he is you are with him. He admits little things you do that make him go weak. He might lists things you do he finds adorable, or aspects of you he loves. Kiss him when he asks. Love him back with no reservations. He will admit his feelings. Revel in the bond of trust and the joy of not being alone.
-If you watch a movie or play video games, you best get used to doing so in his arms. This man is a fan of full body hugs, arms and legs wrapped around you.
-If he is feeling particularly coy, he might start a tickle fight. If you declare a pillow fight, he won't go easy on you. A chiropractic visit may be in your future.
-If he is feeling more serious, you might get a massage. He has a knack for finding the knots in your back. Give him one in turn. He will guide you if you are unsure.
-Offering a joint bath may be the only way to draw him out. You will be returning to the nest, afterwards.
-There will be a nap (or two.) If you fall asleep first, he might trace gentle patterns over your hand resting on his chest. He loves drawing hearts on you. If he falls asleep first, he will want you to remain at his side. Stroking him will ease his sleep, but try not to move too much. He can be roused by enough activity.
-He might actually make an effort to take you out as you wished when evening comes. After a day spent with you, he doesn't mind showing you off to the world.
-You find, though, spending time with him in the intimate seclusion of your relationship is the best use of a Saturday. It is his favorite day, and it will become yours as well.
This whole notion was inspired by a conversation with @hakuoki-dreams! Thank you so much for the inspiration and support.

I’m watching some Hakumyu and I remember me need for a Shiranui route (i know i’m not alone)
but like. one big plus to a shiranui route (or heck, even an amagiri route, which i would not be opposed to as i need more content for both of them)????
Kazama’s reaction. Just imagine it. “No I don’t want you. Your friend here however.....”

Ever After (Heisuke #1)
„Mother, mother! Look. I ran an errand all by myself today!” Your six-year-old son insisted on going out and help you buy groceries all by himself. With a bright smile on his face he proudly presented his latest achievement to you.
“Thank you so much, Haku.” You patted his head and told him to go play with his little sister now.
“Okay!” After he went inside the house you turned around and crossed your arms.
“Heisuke, you don’t have to follow him everywhere. He is old enough to buy groceries all by himself now. Also, the shop is right around the corner.” You caught Heisuke in his little act who now slowly steps out from his hiding spot and scratches his had awkwardly.
“Ha ha…You got me…But you know, I heard there are some shady people out there roaming the streets so I became nervous and thought maybe I should follow him a bit. I know that you would have wanted me to do that, too, right?”
Ah…this again. You know that his overprotective ramblings will never end, so you walk towards him, place your hands to his cheeks and shut him up with a kiss. Before he could tightly embrace you and return the gesture, you released yourself from him and stepped backwards.
“Oh? You want more? How bad this is all you will get today. Maybe next time.” Your teasing left Heisuke puzzled and flustered. With a satisfied smile you made your way back to the house.
