From the Caroline Schimmel Collection, this framed miniature photograph of a deceased young woman is accompanied by locks of her brown hair wrapped around wire to form a floral design. This piece of mourning art is from 1850. Among other treasures, this piece will be on display in the upcoming exhibition of the Schimmel Collection. The opening and conference for *OK, I’ll Do It Myself: Narratives of Intrepid Women in the American Wilderness* will be held September 6th through the 7th.
