I went a bit bonkers on leboncoin (local mercari) yesterday:

Incoming:

Rainbow Surprise Ameythst Rae

Manky Signature Abbey to clean, deglue and bleach

Barbie Extra #1 (curvy carl aa - wonk?)

Damaged hair and lips Bratz Funk Out Nevra and broken Myscene Madison.

Potentially : Hair stripped Winter Wonderland Sasha (for her body and maybe keep the head for a yarn reroot someday).

One on hand, I'm so sick that I've deactivated my ebay sales and haven't listed a bunch of dolls.

On the other, 4 parcels to look forward to and that force me to go to the pick-up locker is the *point*. If it doesn't spark motivation then at least an attempt was made and most of the confirmed dolls were on the like-list... so they'll spark joy later.

The Cat Scan went well, they did an iodine contrast and it felt like peeing in the sea. I was trying so hard to not tremble during an anxiety and nausea wave that I wasn't aware of much else. The catheter made a mess of my arm coming out but was more unpleasant than painful despite the fragile area it was placed... then again my threshold of painful is pretty high right now.

Really pleased it wasn't an MRI, the cluh-clunk noise would have been hard to bear. My driver was a hard breaking type, I came close to throwing up. But also AC and tinted windows have changed the car experience so much. It used to be rough travelling in summer sun. It's night and day. literally.

I first went to amazon to get a treat but they haven't got anything i'd like in stock at non scalper prices. They'd have had my money if they'd import Bratz (Punk Sasha) and Monster High (Venus!), or keep the Rainbow Highs with one outfit and under $40; as for Barbie Basics, they're $45 😬.

The RH and BB are nicely designed but not "45$ nice" you know?

Of course I've ended up spending more lol but fixing dolls is part of the fun. The current project list is mostly small amounts of rerooting or repainting, I think I'd enjoy just cleaning and brushing, especially a that huge Rainbow Surprise head and Bratz with their thickly rooted saran and a fairly easy mika + gloss overpaint for scuffed lips.

Spent much more on this than I intended, but that's always the case no matter how quickly I try to pump things out. Felt like redesigning Dee Dee's Masquerade doll from Hairdorables. She's a sweet and candy themed doll in every iteration, except for this one and it really. Really. Bugs me. Idea was to keep the rockabilly style but bring in the sweet theme as well. Figured a soda shop would cover both bases. And so, I had my inspiration! But I could not actually come up with any decent fabric designs and I became frustrated so in the end I just mashed things together to call it done and move on.

my second one turned out to be Sweet Treats Dee Dee and WHAT CAN I SAY I LOVE THEM BOTH and I’m super pleased with this haul!

Dessert Dee Dee, Series 6

I bought Dessert Dee Dee from Hairdorables Series 6 (not to be confused with Dee DeeSert) for my birthday awhile ago. She's finally here and now my Dee Dee army is complete! And hopefully it stays that way. I know it's awful to say, but I wouldn't mind if this was the end of the Hairdorables line simply because I no longer wish to chase after these little plastic morsels. It can get pricey.

Anyway, photos.

She's pretty plain and simple. Her shoes are cute though and have some nice molded details. A little excited to paint them up!

Her dress has these three panels on the front and it looks a little odd. The print appears to be those circus frosted cookies:

Would have been cute if her headband had little animal cookie shapes instead of a tiara. Speaking of which...

Her artwork has two heart shaped cookies. I checked around on-line to see if this was an error or variant but there's very little of Series 6 to be found. Not even the Hairdorables website has them up. I did notice that on their Instagram she has a green tiara instead.

The gimmick in this line is thermal sensitive hair and cheek markings.

Cold temperatures make that streak go from pink to purple and some heart shaped cookies appear on her left cheek. The hair does stay purple even in room temperature, but the cheek marking quickly disappears. Wish there was a way to make it permanent.

And so this brings the total of Dee Dees up to fourteen! Sixteen if you include the Hairmazing versions.

Still need to fix up Dee Dee from the masquerade Series 5 line, but I'm still not much in a doll mood.

100 Days of Dolls 017: Dee Dee, Delightful Dee Dee

Hairdorables are hard to photograph- not technically, since they’re small enough to fit easily in any frame, but in terms of posing them in an interesting attitude, or any attitude other than the very basic obvious one they were designed to stand in. Dee Dee has wonderful soft mint and cotton candy colored hair, and her socks look like fluted piping bags, to go with her chef theme and whisk.

I want to rebody her, but I have yet to find any jointed doll that matches her skin-tone, especially one in the right proportions. Normal-sized Monster High dolls are too slender and tall, they don’t look like they belong with these big, cartoony little-girl heads.
