This particular treatment’s purpose is to help rebuild the structure of your hair strands. When your hair begins to feel damaged, brittle, stiff, or limp, a protein treatment will help repair your hair.

i have quite a lot of hair breakage from going to bed with wet hair which i am trying to stop doing (i don’t use heat), do you have any (preferably affordable) product recommendations that could help with this in the time being?
Yup! So with hair breakage, the big goals are to have a gentle wash routine and to deep condition the hair. In general, you want to avoid shampoos that contain sulfates and opt for products that are designed for damaged hair instead. You also want to make sure that you're shampooing just the scalp, not the mids and ends of the hair. Introducing a deep conditioning treatment and a leave-in conditioner into your routine will also help to deal with the breakage.
The best products for damaged hair tend to be from the Olaplex line, but those can get pricey. So instead, I would try the Monday Haircare Moisture Shampoo or Tresemme Keratin Repair Shampoo, Dove Hair Therapy Conditioner for Damaged Hair Breakage Remedy, Pantene Hair Mask Miracle Rescue Shots, or the tgin Miracle RepaiRx Anti-Breakage Serum, and the Sun Bum Revitalizing 3 In 1 Leave In Treatment.
Other things you might want to consider are:
Getting regular trims: trims can help get rid of split ends, preventing them from traveling up the hair shaft and causing more breakage.
Avoiding tight hairstyles: Styles like tight ponytails, braids, and buns can cause stress on the hair and lead to breakage. Go for looser hairstyles instead.
Being gentler while brushing: Use a wide-toothed comb or a brush with flexible bristles to avoid unnecessary tension on the hair. Start from the tips and work your way up to the roots. If you can, wait until your hair is dry to brush it.
Protecting your hair from the sun: UV rays can damage the hair cuticles, leading to breakage. Wear a hat or use hair products with UV protection (like the Sun Bum 3 in 1 treatment) when spending time in the sun.
Using a silk or satin pillowcase, or putting your hair up in a silk wrap before going to sleep: friction is one of the main reasons for manual damage that leads to split ends and breakage, and a silk or satin pillowcase can help to reduce that friction. This one is $10 on Amazon and has good reviews.
Finally, breakage can be a symptom of a larger problem, such as nutritional deficiencies or an underlying medical condition. If you're working to repair your hair but still noticing a lot of breakage, you may need to supplement biotin, vitamin D, or omega-3 fatty acids or speak with your doctor, especially if you're noticing other symptoms.

PURE CRANBERRY SEED OIL
It contains essential fatty acids such as Omega 3 and 6, which help to strengthen the hair shaft and encourage growth. Cranberry seed oil strengthens and promotes hair development by forming a protective moisture lock layer on the hair. It's a fast-absorbing oil that may penetrate the scalp and strengthen hair from the roots. Organic Cranberry Seed Oil is high in Vitamin E and chemicals like Tocopherols and Tocotrienols, which function as a shield against damaging UV radiation. It provides a protective layer on the hair and keeps moisture in the scalp. It can also counteract the negative effects of UV radiation on breakage and dandruff. Its emollient nature is the cause for less dandruff.

Why are box braids so damn hard to do it yourself. I have a renewed and greater respect for my DIY people 💙
#i've never used box braids before but i really really want to try it at least once#even though i usually wear my hair down with the bangs#smth smth reconnecting with my heritage etc#also i feel like my hair is way too thin and slick for it. it *is* curly but not like my mom and sister's#it's a lot softer and thinner like my dad's. which i absolutely love because it is a lot easier to maintain but#braiding my hair like this will be a challenge. i know with the braiding hair it will be easier but. idk.#i haven't even decided if i will do it or not cus my hair is breakage-prone and i'm a bit fearful of that#but at the same time. i'd look so bomb.#a lot of people don't know i'm part black because i look VERY latina/desi (thanks mom and dad for the insane mix)#and idk. wearing a typical african hairstyle would be a huge deal for me ya know? i know this makes 0 sense for most of you but#aaaaa i'm rambling. calling out my ancestors for some strength because these braids are gonna suck the life-force out of me#(my wrists are already hurting and all i did was watch tutorials lmao)#(and no - getting someone to do it for me is not really an option. my mom's hairstylest would probably make us a discount#(she's from our former church and a long time family friend)#but i just don't feel comfortable with that and can't really afford it rn. plus i hate ppl touching my hair.#haven't been in a salon in many years - i cut my own hair)#so i guess i'll just learn? maybe ? idk thinking out loud here#darya talks to herself
