Two weeks later
Chennai, Tamil Nadu
"Thiju!"
Kshithija's eyes met Nila's bright, lucid eyes, shining with an excitement that the former was sure was reflected in her own eyes. Nila had matured even more, her hair in a loose ponytail, long, swishing around behind her back in her excitement. Her beauty had a glow to it, the glow that only romantic feelings acknowledged, accepted and returned could give one.
Had Aditya asked her out?
Kshithija thought all of this, as she embraced her sister tightly. Nila often felt like a part of Kshithija's heart, an integral part of it. Without Nila, her heart would not be complete, just like without Arun, her heart had no blooming. Even through the harsh rejection, and the many years it had been since she had been in anything more than vague and distinct contact with him and his family, he still ran through her heart and veins, like he had never left it.
And he hadn't. She had tried to be as with-the-flow in healing as possible. Though loving him from many thousand miles away was very different from loving him when in close contact. And she doubted the intensity between them would have died down; in fact, if she could hazard a guess, it was going to be much more intense. More than it had ever been.
How she could guess that she had not divined yet, but she knew her gut too well to doubt it anymore.
"What is it, Vaandu?" Nila asked very affectionately, giving Kshithija a knowing look, tinged with some shyness rare in her.
"Did you end up getting a date, Akka?" Kshtihija whispered, not wanting her uncle, who she had embraced earlier to hear just yet. The delightful blush on Nila's face, splashing across her bronzed skin told Kshithija that Aditya had finally asked Nila out. "Oh! He finally asked you out then."
"He did," Nila agreed, the dark blush filling her cheeks, as she looked at Kshithija, the latter smiling brightly.
"What great news to get as I return, Akka. May you always always be happy," Kshithija wished her cousin, hugging her once more, before both grabbed the suitcases and wheeled it to the car, Kshithija more than ready to return home, to the safety of the place she grew up in.
Kshithija was curled up in her favourite nook on the first floor of her house, the couch as comfortable as her usual bean bag back at London. She looked at the book open on her lap, smiling at the worn out pages. She had read this multiple times for comfort, and somehow felt the urge to pick up the book at that moment.
If she thought deeply, she would know why she was in this state; it had everything to do with Arun, with having to meet Arun again. Maybe not immediately, but they ran in very similar social circles, that meeting him socially would happen at some point. Further, the closeness of the two families also guaranteed that she would have to meet him in informal family gatherings.
Since the loss of her father, her Periappa and Sundar uncle, Arun's father, had bonded even more. While both had been close before, the loss of Appa had sealed the friendship in a deeper, more instinctual way than ever before. When they teamed up, it was known that they could win any argument. Given that she was still the heir of her father's company, and Arun was going to be Managing Director eventually, she suspected matchmaking endeavors.
Would she be able to deal with them? She was after all well aware of the ways this set up will happen. And worse, if Iramathi wanted it to happen even now. Kshithija's affection for Iramathi had not receded by any means, and she was aware she was often a pushover, especially with people she loved. But one thing she had gotten with clarity during her time away was perspective.
Iramathi was loving, but she was also not above pushing people together if she thought it would help her family and the mega empire they ran. Aditya could be ruthless sometimes, despite being gentle as well when needed, though it was not the case every time it was needed. Paavai was a little firecracker, and her two brothers often spoiled her, which often gave her a sense of superiority, despite the genuineness that ran in her. Kalyaani was quiet, but could be very cunning when needed. And Arun...
Arun was more morally righteous and truthful than any of his siblings. But he also had a habit of not trusting anyone easily, despite having known them for a long time. While there was nothing wrong with being cautious, there was wrong with actually believing rumours more than the friendship that had been shared for many years.
She sighed to herself. This was the exact path she did not want herself in, and she had, of course found herself venturing into it. Being a psychologist could not prevent her from completely getting over her overthinking habits, it could only help her understand who could advise and guide her through it, leading to healing.
What was she to do though, if such a situation came up?
"Thiju!"
Kshithija was bought out of her thought spiral by her younger brother, who bounded in and plopped down next to her. They were best friends, having only one and a half years between them.
"Yes Kumara?" she asked, playfully rolling her eyes, giggling at his mock offended look. "What do you need me for, mischief maker?"
"Thiju, we both know that you are the biggest mischief maker between the two of us," he nudged her, making her laugh in agreement, responding, "That is a secret!"
The two siblings basked in the cheerful silence, before Kumaran again broke it.
"The social events of the year are starting, Thiju. In about a month," Kumaran announced. Kshithija knew well that he was aware that she had kept herself informed of all this.
"And?"
"And, Periappa hopes you would join us this time," Kumaran said softly. "But you must know..."
"Arun will be there," she sighed softly. She took in the concerned look her brother threw at her, and squeezed his arm, saying, "Well, I will have to meet him at some time, don't I?"

Here are a few father-daughter photoshoot poses we will be covering below:

An image of the father and daughter dancing like no one’s watching is perfect to be memorialised in the family album. This is one of the most loving father-daughter photoshoot poses where the duo can take several pictures of their dance doing different steps. Later, you can select those you like the best. This photoshoot idea even works during weddings when the dance floors offer creative lighting for stunning pictures.

It touches a different chord in the heart, even when you go through it after several years of the photo session or when your daughter grows up. The same idea can be used on the daughter’s wedding day, where the pose would be the father helping the bride with her necklace, earrings, or dupatta. You can choose any pose that suits your personality to rock your family album.

The first time Rakesh Shrestha took me to meet her, she was shooting for Pathar Ke Insan in Mehboob Studio. I had just got into movies so I was very excited about meeting Sridevi. He introduced me as a young guy who’s a designer. Malhotra adds that Sridevi soon called him to Chennai to design for actor Chiranjeevi as well. "That’s the first time I met Chiranjeevi sir. Then, I didn’t hear from her for a year and a half. I wondered if she liked my work."
Malhotra was attempting to make his way into the film industry back then and he got a call from producer Yash Johar by Sridevi’s reference. They called him for a photo session for Sridevi’s acclaimed film Gumrah. "They asked for two very rockstar kind of garments which Sridevi wanted me to make. I sent them to Madras. But I got no reaction. I kept wondering if I’ll ever get a chance to meet this phenomenal actor again." To Malhotra’s pleasant surprise, Sridevi called him one day and asked him to do Gumrah for her. "I was really excited. I said it’s going to be an important film, so why don’t we work on the look. I said let’s keep the hair short and she liked the idea. That is how our bond started."
Malhotra and Sridevi collaborated on several films before she Sridevi gave up her career back then to bring up her daughters. Manish shared, "It was the last day of Judaai’s shooting in Las Vegas. I still remember we were coming down the elevator. She told me I’m not planning to work anymore. I had a lump in my throat. And I kept thinking why do I feel like this. It means somewhere I’ve got really attached to her. I think I got attached to her professionalism, to the way she gave respect. She never spoke about anybody. I think I got along with that very well. She was focused, hard working. We never gossiped about anybody. It was always about the work."
Malhotra adds, "I remember going to see when Janhvi was born. I remember seeing Khushi in the hospital. For 15 years, she didn’t really do any work, but I was in touch with her." the designer says he has a special bond with Sridevi’s daughters Janhvi and Khushi. They are today’s girls. They think differently, they have so much love from their parents. They have so many qualities that Sridevi ma’am had. I’m sure they miss her each and every day because she was such a loving and doting mother and also a friend to them."
"There was a simplicity to her which I found so beautiful and wonderful. The bond that I shared with Sridevi ji, continues with her daughters, and I think is to stay forever," he signs off.

My first scribbling, which turned to be my own story and years later that became a part of my life..Never believed in miracle but it happened!
JOURNEY FOR LIFE TIME
It was a rainy day, when I board my train from Chennai to my native Bangalore for a vacation after a long time. Spending time with my family is the best part of my life and being with my little sister who is so attached to me, makes me more Happy. Though she is grown up now and pursuing her 1st year of College But still she is kiddo for me. Our bond was like thick and thin. Since it was raining heavily and station seems to be messy all over. Finally I found my coach A2-42 yeah it’s an AC coach since it was a last minute booking all the tickets in second class was full and my dad booked in first class which I hate to travel. People here seem that they are wealthy than others and show up their attitude problem and more over this coach will be in pin drop silent. Always I would prefer the non ac with breeze atmosphere. Keeping these thoughts in    mind ,finally arranged my luggage as they were too heavy to be placed thou the things in my bag is not mine and those were for my sister who sent me a big list to be bought for her. The train started, I pushed away the curtains aside and sat near the window to enjoy the rain that showers on the glass slowly like a dew drop on a flower. As it goes by, I started reading the magazine which I bought in the station, to make myself not to be bored. Suddenly my phone beeps “new message from adithi “. Every time I see my sister name in text I start smiling because she sends me the funniest text that will burst me into laugh. So with the same expectation I opened the text but this time it was a different and shocking thou."Adithi: guess you’re in train. Just listen and don’t react too much to what I say now. Dad and Mom have seen a girl for you and they wanted you to meet their family in this visit. So be prepared for the surprise. And don’t dream too much. happy journey. See you tomorrow. Cya” As train started moving I lost my network signal and was not able to reply her back. But I was still in shock moreover a mixed emotion surprised, imagining, happy that I'm going to meet someone new, expecting how she will be. Running these things in mind I started smiling. And the train stopped in next station with a jerk. With the same smiling face I lifted up and saw the window “a spark” a girl crossed me in blue attire and I went nearby to the glass window to check whether whom she was. But I missed to see her as the train started off. From my College days I use to admire pretty girls and it became a habit. And most of my friends were into love so they will be asking me to fall for one so that I can enjoy my love life as well. I'm not a person who is against love; I admire relationship as I use to love my parents bond a lot. They are the best couple I have ever seen they fight, they tease they do all the things together But their unconditional love is still lasting forever. I was waiting for a girl who will be just like them. Sudden thought struck my mind “will the girl whom my parents saw will be like this or totally opposite? “ I just nodded my head to myself in confusion. A sound from behind, a girls voice on phone “yeah mom I'm in train yeah had my dinner.  Hope you and dad had. Going to be seated (she sat and gave me smile of hi). Don't worry about me mom tomorrow I will be there before you to trouble you again. (She giggled). Love you too mom... Bubye” She didn't notice me as I was watching her for a long time as she was busy keeping her things in perfect manner. Yeah it’s the same spark that came again; the same girl whom I missed to see a few minutes back is just opposite to me. “God is really great u know “my mind speaks. To no doubt she is the prettiest girl I have ever seen. She was looking beautiful in her blue tees with denim jean, with long wet hair that was dancing here and there, and was about to kiss her cheeks. She was not fair but her honey brown complexion made me stare at her beauty. What a girl she is? I was kept on admiring her and went off to dreams. Sudden voice “hi adithiya”. To pleasant surprise it was her voice But How come she knows my name. With a shocking expression I greeted her back. She saw my confused face and started smiling. “Hey adi chill don’t confuse too much. I just saw your name next to mine while checking in the list. And that's how I came to know”. Oh finally I was relaxed from the confusion state and loved the way she called me “adi”. I got over excited and gave my hand forward to introduce myself formally this is Adithiya Ravi and you? In return she shook back with a smile and said “Amrita”. So our conversation started off by then!
Am: so going to Bangalore or?
Ad: yeah to Bangalore my family stays there and I work here, as a developer in oracle. (adithiya don’t give too much information first make her comfortable then you can say your stories so I just finished off with a smile ).
Am: hey that's cool so you’re into software field quite opposite to mine. I'm heading to Bangalore as well. My native place with a huge family who stays there (she smiles). I'm working in a private concern as an asset creative head for daily news paper. You know what the best part in my life is my job. I just enjoy each and every day (ad: omg she talks more than me a chatterbox? Na na a cute little girl " she was keep on describing about her work thou I was not listening I was just admiring her reactions). Oops am I boring you sorry I'm like this it’s very difficult to close my mouth once it’s opened. So tell me going for vacation adi?
Ad: (Uffff again she calls me adi, girl don’t make me fall for you)
Am: helloooo dreamer?
Ad: sorry what did u ask?
Am: are you going for vacation?
Ad: (should I need to say about my girl whom my parents saw? No no no ways I don’t want to say this is at first) Ohhh yea!!
Am: great!! It's fun na meeting our family members after a long time.
Ad: you’re true it’s adorable.
Am: alright adi it’s getting late I will catch up with some sleep. Have to get up early na. Cya morning! Happy night dreamer (she smiles).
Ad: (What??? so soon we end up our conversation? God this is not fair) alright amrita sleep well. Good night.
“She slept off in another half an hour. I was still awake thinking about her and admiring. It was a small conversation but the most memorable one. (Wish she should be the girl whom my parents saw) a thought in my mind and I slept with a smile. Next day we got up with a morning wish and got from train. She said it was nice talking to you adi and bid bye. It was the last time I saw that smiling face. I moved from the station and came out where my dad was waiting.
Dad: hi adithiya how was your journey?
Ad: (journey for life time dad I met my dream girl and missed her in the same journey). Yea dad it was good.
Dad: get in adithiya. We have to reach home early. Noon we are going to a restaurant to meet my friends family.
Ad: (me and dad are moreover like Good friends) what for dad? I asked as if I don’t know.
Dad: adithi didn't tell you about this? We saw a girl for you.
Ad: (thought I would try to find amrita somehow because her thoughts were still disturbing me) yea she said But not today.
Dad: sorry son it’s all prepared and we are going.
We reached home had chit chat with all and her thought in mind. My sister was busy seeing her gifts I bought her and mom in getting ready for restaurant. None was there to share and I felt disturbed. So I slept for some time.
Mom: get ready adithiya it’s getting late.
Finally we all were ready to go and we reached the place. Best restaurant in Bangalore. We booked one private small open space for both the families. As I entered, I heard a loud girls voice she was narrating some story but quite familiar voice. I was thinking about that and sat in one corner. Both the families greeted and sat down by then. All of sudden a girl came in with pink Saree. She was stunning in Saree than I saw her the previous night. Yea it was amrita whom I met on the train. I busted in happiness and tears were like moist in my eyes. I couldn't believe it myself. She gave me the same cute smile and came closer to me. As others were in silents. She stood before me and to my surprise she bend down on her knees with a ring popping out of her fingers.
 “Adiii
Let Rain being the witness
As it pours down upon us,
I confess my love to thee,
Will you accept my love?
And Me?”
I couldn't control my tears and it started rolling down.
Am: adii accept me soon na my knees are paining, later you have carry me wherever I go (she giggles).
I lifted her up an accepted her and our love. Gave a kiss on her forehead. All started laughing and smiles all over. They left us alone after d event. She sat next to me holding my hand and said adi "our journey became a lifetime ".
And the Miracle that happened in my life...
I met my husband through matrimonial site and it just happened. We started liking each other even before seeing nor our families know about this. We never know when we even formally proposed nor said I LOVE YOU until we started talking 24/7. We were in  distance relationship. After a month of knowing each other, he just flew to my place to hold my hands and say to the world that she is my girl. I never knew the my husband and my dream guy in the story are working in oracle domain. And the girl I portrait-ed in the story is all about ME. This is how I wanted to fall for someone and show them my extreme love and I wanted to go down on Knee and propose my guy. But I still didn't find the right moment to do for my husband till date, this is my biggest wish in my life.
PS: Do read my second half of the story(A Dreamy Journey That Became A Life Forever) to know the girl’s true love for him!!

How to prevent hair loss problems?
Is it possible to prevent hair loss? Though you can't reverse natural balding, you can protect your hair from damage that may eventually lead to hair thinning and hair loss.
Losing hair is part of a natural cycle of growth and replacement; if the hair is not replaced with a new one, that is a  problem. You can follow a few hair care tips discussed in this article to prevent hair damage and loss.
Avoid hairstyles that pull on the hair & Avoid high heat hair styling tools:
Hair usually is flexible, but hairstyles like cornrows, ponytails and tight braids can pull your hair away from your scalp and loosen the bond between your scalp and hair over time. Using heat while styling your hair leaves the follicles dehydrated and vulnerable to damage. So it is best to avoid certain hairstyles and hair straighteners, hairdryers and curling irons to prevent hair damage that causes hair loss.
Brush properly:
Brushing your hair regularly can increase blood flow to the hair follicles. However,  make sure to use soft hair brushes with fibres that naturally stimulate healthy sebum (oil) levels on your hair.
While brushing your hair, apply full strokes, starting at the scalp to the tips of your hair to distribute the hair's natural oil. Be gentle, and avoid over brushing or brushing your hair when wet. It is best to use a wide-toothed comb on wet hair.
Choose products wisely:
Sometimes, Harsh chemicals like sulfur in hair products can leave residue on the scalp or trigger allergic reactions resulting in hair loss. So it is mandatory to choose the right product which is safe on your scalp. When it comes to VCare hair products, You need not worry about this aspect!

Best Non-Surgical Hair Treatment in India for Hair Loss and Hair Thinning
A universal fact of the modern day world is hair loss will affect you at some point in life. Those who go for the best hair treatment in India at the onset of hair loss have better chances of recovering from hair loss and hair thinning. The reason is simple: the sooner you get to a good trichologist in Mumbai the faster a diagnosis can be done and treatment can be started. Ten cricket documentaries on YouTube, Netflix and Amazon Prime to keep you hooked during the lockdown
Tumblr media
Missing live cricket? There’s a plethora of cricket documentaries on various streaming platforms to help kill the boredom at home. In our list — drawn out in no particular order — there’s plenty of Caribbean flair, IPL action and rare behind-the-scenes footage of various dressing rooms.
Cricket Fever: Mumbai Indians
Tumblr media
Cricket Fever: Mumbai Indians
Streaming on: Netflix
Starved of IPL action? This eight-part Netflix series, released last year, follows the fortunes of the IPL’s most successful and wealthiest franchise, Mumbai Indians, during their 2018 season. Starting from the auction that preceded it, a television crew is given a rare pass to the dressing room of the then defending champions. As you relive the tournament, you get to ride the emotions of the players and fans during an unusually difficult season. Watch the players grapple with issues of form, expectations from fans, media commitments and more. What stands out is the snippets of players re-visiting their homes and grounds where they fell in love with the game.
Branded a Rebel
Streaming on: YouTube
The most political documentary in this list. In the midst of their two-decade long sporting isolation due to apartheid, South Africa secretly held talks in the early 1980s with the world’s top cricketers to play a series of unofficial games in the country, known as “Rebel Tours”. With the world vehemently opposed to the brutal apartheid regime, it was always a tough call for cricketers to tour there. “Branded a Rebel” focuses on the most controversial of those tours, by the West Indies players in 1983.
The money was tempting, but while many of their top stars declined, those who took the bait were made to regret their decision till this day. “Mercenaries” at home, “honorary whites” in another country, the West Indies players who made the trip, including Colin Croft, Lawrence Rowe and Alvin Kallicharran, returned home to lifetime bans by the West Indies cricket board. Many of the players, like David Murray, succumbed to a life of drugs and isolation.
The Test: A new era for Australia’s Team
Tumblr media
Still from ‘The Test’
Streaming on: Amazon Prime Video
This newly released eight-part documentary follows the Australian men’s team over 18 months following the Sandapapergate controversy in 2018 that led to bans for two of their best batsmen Steve Smith and David Warner, and the team’s reputation in tatters. A film crew gets unprecedented access to an Australian dressing room that reveals vulnerabilities and extreme moods of the players and coaches as they pull on through a difficult period. Head coach Justin Langer gets generous airtime as he talks us through the team’s image rebuilding exercise. The producers got the script they wanted, with Australia retaining The 2019 Ashes and winning (back) some admirers along the way.
  Crossing the Line
Streaming on: YouTube
Now let’s rewind to what really happened during Sandpapergate. “Crossing the Line” is a one episode documentary on Australia’s Test tour of South Africa in 2017-18, arguably one of the ugliest series in recent memory for its controversies. Before even getting to the ball-tampering scandal, we had the staircase altercation between David Warner and Quinton de Kock, Kagiso Rabada shoulder barging Steve Smith, Warner’s mouthy send off to AB de Villiers, and more. When the host broadcasters caught the Australians using sandpaper to alter the condition of the ball, the muck had hit the fan. The documentary, though interviews with leading commentators, focuses on the Australian team’s toxic culture, and their win-at-all-costs approach that cost them dear.
Lara
Tumblr media
16-21 Apr 1994: Sir Gary Sobers of the West Indies congratulates Brian Lara also of the West Indies for his record 375 runs during the Fifth Test match against England at the Recreation Ground in St John’s, Antigua   | Photo Credit: Ben Radford
Streaming on: YouTube
Brian Lara’s 1994 began with his car being stolen in his native Trinidad, and ended with him breaking the world records for the highest Test score (375), highest first-class score (501) and with the world wanting a piece of him (small mercy that selfies didn’t exist then). This one-part British production follows Lara’s movements from the home series against England in 1994 where he broke the Test record, his prolific county season with Warwickshire where he scored centuries for fun, and also when the going wasn’t as much fun with whirlwind media commitments, endorsements, other commercial obligations and the hectic traveling. The crew also visits his village near Santa Cruz and a coaching stint with underprivileged black kids in Soweto shortly after apartheid was lifted in South Africa.
India vs Pakistan: A Bat and Ball War
Tumblr media
The Chennai crowd giving a standing ovation to Pakistani players as they go on a victory lap after beating India in the first test match at Chepauk Stadium on January 31, 1999   | Photo Credit: N_BALAJI
Streaming on: YouTube
From pitch vandalism to snakes, the Pakistan team had all sorts of security threats thrown at them when they arrived in India in 1999, for their first Test tour of the country since 1987.This one-part documentary goes behind the scenes of the thrilling two-Test series, starting with the cliffhanger in Chennai, remembered for Pakistan’s jailbreak, followed by a standing ovation. Only a foreign film crew could have waded through the hair-splitting bureaucracy to get access to the visitors’ dressing room and private parties. This series, unlike previous tours, was anything but dull and nor is this documentary.
Fire in Babylon
Streaming on: YouTube
Here we go again. Another one on West Indies? It’s because they were just so bloody good at one time. If you are the type always looking back wistfully at the time they were world beaters, this feel-good documentary is for you. Fire in Babylon begins as a socio-political history of West Indies cricket, set against the backdrop of black oppression in the 1970s. After a horrific tour of Australia in 1975-76 – the racial abuse from the crowds adding insults to several injuries – Clive Lloyd scouts the islands for the most terrifying fast bowlers and for 15 years, West Indies never lose a Test series. Several West Indian legends talk us through what made them near invincible for close to 20 years, and answer the uncomfortable question whether their intimidatory tactics fell within the spirit of the game.
Botham: The Legend of ‘81
Tumblr media
20 Jul 1981: Ian Botham of England hooks Geoff Lawson of Australia for four on his way to 149 not out during the third Test match at Headingley in Leeds, England   | Photo Credit: Adrian Murrell
Streaming on: YouTube
This BBC one-part show goes behind the cult of Ian Botham, with the focus on his single-handed control over the 1981 Ashes series at home. In less than five years since his debut for England, Botham’s career had come a full circle. Captaincy was a nightmare for him and when his form slumped, he was relieved of the leadership midway through the 1981 series. That launched the beginning of “Botham’s Ashes” with his Headingley miracle, he was the toast of England all over again. Celebrities and politicians feature here, including John Major, Elton John, Mick Jagger, Stephen Fry. The programme also goes behind the scenes on how his stardom got to him, put a strain on his family and how he gave back to society with his fund-raising walks towards leukaemia research.
Viv Richards: King of Cricket
Tumblr media
Viv Richards
Streaming on: YouTube
You can never get too tired of watching the swagger of Viv Richards, with or without the bat. This Channel 4 1985 documentary was released when King Viv was at his peak, having recently taken over the West Indies captaincy from Clive Lloyd. Alongwith rare footage of international cricket in the Caribbean in the 1980s, you also get to see Richards going back to his beach cricket roots in Antigua, driving down the highways in England when playing for Somerset, bonding with one of his best mates Ian Botham at social gatherings.
Cricket in the 80s: Rookies, Rebels, Renaissance
Streaming on: YouTube
The Australians set the gold standard of cricket coverage in the 1970s thanks to Kerry Packer’s World Series Cricket. Some of the best archival footage of cricket comes from that country so you can expect high standards from their documentaries too. Rookies, Rebels… follows Australian cricket’s most tumultuous decade, where they suffered their most prolonged form slump in history, due to the sudden exodus of greats like Greg Chappell and Dennis Lillee to retirement and a host of fringe players to a Rebel Tour of South Africa, captained by Kim Hughes, for which they served bans. Captain Allan Border and coach Bob Simpson steer the young side through choppy waters and as the decade winds down, they lift the 1987 World Cup and thrash England 4-0 in the 1989 Ashes.

Petta to Peranbu: Here are 10 best Tamil films of 2019 where innovative storytelling was the big winner - regional movies
Tumblr media
As 2019 comes to a close, we take a look at Tamil films that made an impact, went beyond entertaining audiences and managed to appeal to a large section of the viewers without requiring the backing of a star. From Rajinikanth’s Petta to Mammootty’s Peranbu, here are 10 best Tamil films of the year in no particular order.PettaIn what could be best described as a major throwback to 1990s, Petta is Karthik Subbaraj’s love letter to Rajinikanth and he portrays him in the most crowd-pleasing fashion in a really long time. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that Petta is Rajinikanth’s best film since Enthiran, and it marks his return to form with trademark style and he does so by gracefully playing his age.
Tumblr media
Rajinikanth in Petta. If there’s one thing Karthik Subbaraj’s Petta really succeeds in achieving, is that it lets superstar Rajinikanth be himself and have fun on screen. From a happy hop to an impromptu dance step and slow-motion walk to the flip of his hair with his own hands with panache; we see Rajinikanth in his element after a long time and boy it’s a joy to watch him do what he’s best at. Super Deluxe
Tumblr media
Vijay Sethupathi has won all-round applause for his portrayal.Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s Super Deluxe is both the gutsiest and wackiest Tamil film of the year. A terrific social commentary on life, sex, gender, science, religion, alien invasion, spirituality, marriage and faith; this is Tamil cinema’s boldest attempt in recent years. Backed by very strong performances from its ensemble cast, Super Deluxe presented each of its actors – from Vijay Sethupathi to Samantha and Ramya Krishnan – to play characters they wouldn’t have dreamt to play ever in their careers.To-Let
Tumblr media
To-Let won a national award.Chezhiyan’s national award-winning film To-Let is a story about urban housing problems. It’s also a story that focuses on middle-class dreams and reality. If there’s one aspect that really stands out in the film, is how it stays away from the norms of commercial cinema – which includes all the tropes that usually define mainstream Tamil cinema — and still manages to make something so captivating and praise-worthy. It’s for this aspect alone; the film truly deserves to be celebrated. This is, without a doubt, Tamil cinema’s first big step towards realistic cinema. Chezhiyan treats To-Let as realistically as possible. The world cinema influence is quite evident in his treatment and rich tributes are paid to the masters like Mrinal Sen and Akira Kurosawa among others.Game Over
Tumblr media
Taapsee Pannu in Game OVer.Ashwin Saravanan’s Game Over is a spine-chilling tale of fighting one’s worst fears. It’s a tense invasion thriller fueled by a strong emotional core. Unlike most invasion thrillers, it’s isn’t generic, and that’s what makes it one of the best genre films. It’s layered and has more offer than one can imagine. The film marked Taapsee Pannu’s return to Tamil cinema in one of her most challenging roles and she couldn’t have played it any better. More than a thriller, Game Over presents itself more as a psychological thriller that’s both fun and torturous, extracting unimaginably good performance from Taapsee. Kaithi
Tumblr media
Karthi In Kaithi. After making his solid debut with Maanagaram a few years ago, Lokesh returns strongly with Kaithi, a relentless, punchy action film that has its heart in the right place. On paper, it’s is a story that spans across a single night and it follows events that happen in a span of four hours. The film is set in a world where Kamal Haasan’s Virumaandi meets Die Hard meets Assault on Precinct 13. No Tamil action film in recent years has worked as wholesomely as Kaithi, and it’s unimaginably riveting from start to finish. This is a pure genre film and even though it panders to the masses with the way it has treated action, it’s still a refreshing departure from the doldrums of crowd-pleasing commercial cinema.House Owner
Tumblr media
A heartfelt ode to unconditional love. With House Owner, filmmaker Lakshmy Ramakrishnan – one of the promising female directors of this decade - weaves a heartfelt ode to unconditional love and it’s devastatingly beautiful. No other mainstream Tamil filmmaker – at least in recent years - has handled love as beautifully as Lakshmy in House Owner which unfolds against the backdrop of 2015 Chennai floods. The idea of staying united gets magnificently conveyed in House Owner, which makes us realize the importance in the institute of marriage at a time when it is losing its significance.KD
Tumblr media
KD explores the bond between an 8-year-old and 80-year-old man.KD, which has been written and directed by Madhumita, is a charming little film that beautifully explores life and its imperfections through the bond between an 8-year-old and an 80-year-old man. It’s one of the heartwarming films that hit all the sweet spots and makes you well up on a few occasions. As a film, it relies heavily on the camaraderie between the lead characters and the lead characters are a delight to watch on screen, especially when it comes to the humour.Peranbu
Tumblr media
Peranbu is among the best father-daughter films in 2019.Tamil cinema has had its share of father-daughter based films but it’s going to be extremely difficult to find a film as affecting as well disturbing as Mammootty starrer Peranbu, and all credit goes to its director Ram for taking a road less travelled and giving us a film for years to remember and celebrate. In what can be described as a departure from his style of filmmaking, Peranbu is Ram’s quietest and most meditative and most rewarding film in years and it’s going to be really tough to replace it. The film takes a deep dive into the psyche of a helpless father who has just taken custody of his teenage daughter who has cerebral palsy. This is both a coming of age drama and a hard-hitting tale of survival in a world where everyone’s quick to judge.Monster
Tumblr media
Monster stood out for its innovative idea.Nelson Venkatesan’s Monster is one of the most innovative films to have come from Tamil cinema this year. Cut from the same cloth as Mouse Hunt, the film is centred on the battle between a man (played by a terrific SJ Suryah) and a house rat. It’s a creature feature done well and it hits all the right emotional notes to leave one moved by the end of the film. It’s an innovative film because no other filmmaker has dared to experiment with a house rat as the central character in mainstream cinema.Sillu Karuppatti
Tumblr media
Sillu Karupatti tugs at heartstrings.Halitha Shameem’s sophomore film Sillu Karuppatti – an anthology of stories on love, relationship, class-divide and companionship - tugs at heartstrings. It’s a film that’ll leave you smiling for a long time. It handles several sensitive topics in the most mature and humors fashion. It’s powered by amazing writing and questions several stereotypes without making the attempt seem preachy. Follow @htshowbiz for more Read the full article

The Bobbi Brown Experience
When I mean the Bobbi Brown experience, I do not mean having a make over at one of their stores, no, I had the immense pleasure of teaching an Asian Bridal Masterclass at their free standing flagship store. The number one for Bobbi Brown FSS in UK and Europe, and number three in the world. Amazing huh?
Tumblr media
When Deborah from Bobbi Brown Studio Covent Garden contacted me and asked if I was interested in doing a Masterclass for them, I nearly fell off the chair. As an educator who has been doing one-to-one tutorials and recently embarked on my journey with teaching internationally, this is probably every educator’s dream to be able to teach for a big make up brand like Bobbi Brown.
I am convinced that many reading this blog at this very minute own a Bobbi Brown product. My kit is full of it, and it was just the most exciting feeling ever to be able to play around with all of their products on the day.
Deborah and the rest of her staff were kind enough to let me visit prior to the class, and familiarise myself with their products and what I would like to use on the day. My model, Kiren, who I will have to write a separate paragraph for, was just too easy to work on.
You know me, I will use any opportunity to involve other entrepreneurs, and I did not think twice in who I wanted as suppliers to complete my whole vision.
Tumblr media
Kiren is wearing a VA Collections saree and blouse. I wanted an orange, and they gave me the best orange I could have asked for. What I love about VA Collections is that they are super quick to respond, get the blouse done within days, and also are so accommodating with every one of my requests or demands. I absolutely love their customer service and freaking love their sarees. It always makes me happy when my Brides buy their sarees from VA, as they are so soft and drape beautifully. Their collection is also very up-to-date and trendy.
The Jewellery was provided by Mayil Creations. I became super close to Ranjani after having worked with her several times. I love her work ethic, the passion, and the eye she has for detail. To this day, I have never had to ask her anything, she decides what works, and I blindly trust her, because she does her research on what is trendy and what suits the look. I always recommend her to my Brides, mainly because Ranjani has my taste in Jewellery. Being a senior business partner in her firm and a chartered accountant, I don’t know how she finds the time to do this.
You cannot see the flowers at the back in this photo, but I usually order my flowers from Rani Floral Designs. Rani Akka does flower decorations, garlands, name it. But she specifically does the hair flowers for my Brides, and that woman knows what looks good. What I also love about Rani Akka is that she gets anything done in such short notice and provides amazing service. We go way back, and I respect her so much for being so successful in the industry.
So model ready, now who takes the photos? That was not rocket science for me. I have worked with Soozana from Soozana Pvan Photography for many years, she is one of my favourite Wedding Photographers, but why I favour her a little more to other photographers I have worked with is because she gets the female body frame. The angles. The sensuality. She captures my Brides so beautifully, I am speechless every time. But my main reason for always wanting to work with Soozana is because she edits the images almost immediately and sends them to me. I love how much respect she has for the people she works with and works well with anyone. And no people, this is not her main profession. She has a Phd and works full time, yet she finds time to edit the images. Superwoman I tell you!
Kiren was not just A model, she was THE model!!!
When she was recommended to me, I was already blown away by that stunning skin complexion, as I really wanted a model a lot of my followers and clients could relate to. What is the point of teaching techniques using products that didn’t suit most people? I contacted Kiren privately, knowing she is a professional model associated to several modelling agencies, hoping she would be available. Not only was she available but she was such a babe to work with. A smart, independent, kind, beautiful, wise girl with so much potential. I don’t think I have ever talked so much to someone in such a little time. She made it so easy for me and oozed so much positive energy. Hiring a professional model was always a scary thought for me, since I have never worked with professional models in the UK, only Chennai. But Kiren exceeded my expectations. She was the star of my Masterclass for sure.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The products I used on Kiren were all Bobbi Brown of course.
We first prepped her skin with the Hydrating Face Tonic, and then applied the Hydrating Eye Cream and the Vitamin Enriched Face Base. We also applied the Lip Balm.
The foundation I used was the Skin Foundation Stick shade in 6.5 Warm Almond, and Dark Peach corrector as her concealer only. I used a little bit of the Golden around her T-zone, and Walnut to contour. And added a little Elvis Duran Bronzer to set the contour. I also used the Soft Honey sheer powder to take the shine off.
To highlight I used the limited edition Nude Beach stick and set it with the Pink Glow highlighter powder.
I used Slopes and Berry as her Blusher.
On the Eyes I use Taupe stick all over the eyelids, and used Baby Peach, Antique Rose, and Rich Brown Eyeshadows. I used the Black Ink gel liner to do her top liner and finished the look with MAC 48 lashes. I softly added a little bit of Intensifying Long-wear Mascara.
On the lips I used Cosmic Raspberry lipstick with Bright Raspberry lipliner.
The whole look was then completed by adding Bobbi Brown’s Face Mist.
If you want to learn how to apply these products then please book yourself in for my next Masterclass.
Tumblr media
I had to add this screenshot from my vlog on YouTube, as I had to write something about Jumani. So Jumani, who is also a freelance makeup artist, and who has become a very close friend, was so kind enough to vlog the entire evening. I love how supportive she is and how much she encourages me in everything I do. This photo also shows the bond, the love, and vibe of successful women working together and lifting each other up.
I got to meet a few aspiring make up artist at the Masterclass and am so excited to see them grow, and be part of their growth. A huge thank you to everyone else who travelled out and came to see me and spent generously at Bobbi Brown. I was told that it was a very successful event for them, and needless to say, it definitely was a very successful event for me.
Thank you again so so much Bobbi Brown UK for this amazing opportunity, and for making this possible for me. I love how you reached out to non Bobbi Brown artists, and gave me a chance. I am so humbled by your kindness and you showed me that Bobbi Brown is not just about the products but also about the artistry. I really hope this opens doors to other Tamil Makeup artists who can be a part of something so much bigger.
Thank you again so much for having faith in me.
