dude your characterization skills are off the fucking charts! entirely unrivaled! i feel like in a lot of fanfics writers end up making the character a little unrealistic cause bias or not wanting a character to be inherently “evil” or making them softer than they are to be more likeable but you’re totally realistic and on the money with it. the choices you have the characters make when they are already existing characters always seem like things they’d actually do (bro can you read their MIND?!?) and your own characters choices always make sense based on their personality and UGHHH😭it’s reading euphoria. you could write a horror novel and i’d be that one futurama meme where he’s like “SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!” (btw i’m totally not bashing on other writers or anything cause there are some masterminds forreal, just an observation of your talent)

Buddy, pal, my guy. When I say this had my heart pounding and my skin blushing I mean it. I try so so hard to keep character I write for in character. Analyzed, and watch, and reread scenes, interviews, lore, etc etc ad nauseam. I try and hear their voices when I write dialogue, and take my time in thinking what actions I feel they'd realistically take given their personalities.

And of course, throw in my own headcanons and creativity into the mix. Like thank you so much for this message. It gave me that surge of desire to write and deliver some good shit for you guys soon. Ilu for this babe.

An article I wrote for my school year book about hosting overseas exchange students.

Becoming a host family is an experience I will definitely never forget. It was only for a week, but the memories will last forever. Within that one short week, I learnt more than I had ever before and learnt things that cannot be learnt in a classroom. It was a very unusual week for me. I witnessed the blending of different cultures. I made friends that I would have never had the chance to meet normally and will never forget. The friends I made were not only the exchange students, but also Mazenod students from different year levels that I have never seen before, brought together by our same interest in Japanese. For the friends that were exchange students, we quickly became friends after meeting and now we still keep in contact. I believe that one day we will meet again.

It is such a joyful experience to witness the exchange students see things that I always thought was normal. It was a week of me seeing things I never really cared much about. I had always walked around the City of Melbourne and only felt like home. Melbourne never felt special to me as I have been here for so long. Yet when I see people that have never been here before, it’s surprising to try and see things from a perspective other than my own. Even a simple bus or train ride, something I felt as simply going from one place to the other, fills them with a new experience. Even seeing something so normal as a kangaroo, was a new experience. Something so simple as eating a meat pie, is a new taste. I am glad to be able to give and share these special moments with people that I had just met.

In essence, I would recommend everyone to host an overseas exchange student at least once. It is an experience which will be in your heart forever. And the friendships made will be strongly bonded with unforgettable memories.
