Title: Pieces of Me
Material: photograph, water color on panel
Size: 8 inches
I took the self portraits at Geoje Island in Korea. The rocks reminded me of Pfeiffer Beach, California. I loved the view and was inspired by the nature.
I used photos as a medium to create my nature drawings. I tore them as naturally as I could to try to use them like flower petals.
Recently, I created many circles as a way to find relief. Circles give me comfort, satisfaction, and zen.
I am participating in NCWCA's The 6000 Circle Project. It will be presented with woman artists to honor feminine energy. The exhibition will be at the Arc Project Gallery from February 24 through April 6, 2024.

5th January 1867 saw the death near Edinburgh of Alexander Smith, a Scottish poet who is best remembered for some of the prose he wrote.
Smith was born in a thatched house in Kilmarnock, his father, John Smith, was a Lowlander who worked as a designer of lace, calico prints, paisley patterns, and muslin. His mother Christina Murray Smith was of Highland extraction and, together with a Highland servant girl, first introduced him to Gaelic songs and Scottish legends.
Being too poor to send him to college, his parents placed him in a linen factory in Glasgow to follow his father’s trade of a pattern designer.
His early poems appeared in the Glasgow Citizen, in whose editor, James Hedderwick, he found a friend. A Life Drama and other Poems was a work of promise, ran through several editions, and gained Smith the appointment of secretary to Edinburgh University in 1854.
Although his early work A Life Drama was highly praised, his poetry was later less well thought of and he was ridiculed as being a Spasmodic, a school of poetry now fallen into oblivion.
Smith turned his attention to prose, and published Dreamthorp: Essays written in the Country and A Summer in Skye . He wrote two novels, Miss Dona M'Quarrie, and his last work Alfred Hagart’s Household .
He died in Wardie, near Edinburgh.
I must say I found his poems a bit hard work, apart from this one called Beauty.....
Beauty still walketh on the earth and air,
Our present sunsets are as rich in gold
As ere the Iliad’s music was out-roll’d;
The roses of the Spring are ever fair,
’Mong branches green still ring-doves coo and pair,
And the deep sea still foams its music old.
So, if we are at all divinely soul’d,
This beauty will unloose our bonds of care.
’T is pleasant, when blue skies are o’er us bending
Within old starry-gated Poesy,
To meet a soul set to no worldly tune,
Like thine, sweet Friend! Oh, dearer this to me
Than are the dewy trees, the sun, the moon,
Or noble music with a golden ending.

“A Detail of Shirkers Line Up For Justice,” Toronto Star. May 14, 1919. Page 02. --- Some Pay Fines, Others Go To Prison, and Others are Received Into Army. --- Fines of $25 and costs, $250 and costs, terms of six months and nine months were meted out in the Police Court to-day by Magistrate Kingsford for various forms of desertion.
Claiming that the military authorities neglected to send his mother a separation allowance as promised, Fred Deschaine pleaded guilty to desertion.
‘I was the only one to look after her and I didn’t like to leave her,’ he pleaded. He said he worked on a farm in lieu of service overseas.
‘You can tell that to the Government in asking for a remission of sentence. I’ll send you to the Jail Farm for six months.’
This One Will Serve. William H. Graham, while pleading guilty to desertion, said he was willing to go back to the Army.
‘Very well, go back,’ agreed the Magistrate.
Harold C. Morton after pleading guilty to desertion and receiving six months, also agreed to go back to the army.
‘Why did you desert?’ he was asked. ‘My son was sick, and after being away twenty-one days I was afraid to go back.’
‘I think you were afraid of the Germans,’ (Laughter.) ‘I worked to support my wife and child.’ As the military authorities were willing to take this man back, his Worship let him go.
Nine Months for Him. To Alfred H. Brown, the fates were more severe. He admitted deserting from the 126th Battalion in 1916. He said he had been working in the city and gave sickness as the reason for desertion. ‘I had to have an operation on my throat,’ he pleaded.
‘When was this operation performed?’ ‘In February, 1917.’
‘Nine months at the jail farm,’ shot back the court with finality.
Necks were craned when the court clerk called ‘C. Rockefeller.’ The owner of the mine, however, had no resemblance to the multi-millionaire of a similar name. This Rockefeller was a youth, charged with desertion. He pleaded not guilty. His story was that he had been working in Buffalo since 1916. It happened that when the M.S.A. was at its zenith, he paid a visit to Toronto. ‘The postmaster saw me and ordered me to report,’ said he indignantly.
‘You were dodging both services, weren’t you?’
‘No, I registered in Buffalo and didn’t claim exemption.’
‘Well, you’ll be fined $250 and costs or three months.
‘How much?’
‘$250 and costs or 3 months.’
‘Gee, wizz.’
Ignored the Order Cornelius McKenna admitted that he ignored the order of the Registrar to report for duty. He was working in Buffalo at the time. Fined $15 and costs.
Thomas E. Mason charged with desertion was remanded for sentence.
David Hagart’s business in court was in connection with the temperance law. He claimed to be within it while the police said he had set up a personal law of his own in the matter. ‘Two hundred and costs or three months,’ said Magistrate Denison with a ‘mustn't do that’ tone in his voice. Geo. C. Johnson admitted the theft of two bottles of whiskey from the Grand Trunk Railway and was sent to jail for five days.

i kinda want to make a small personal update post i guess? i’m actually doing better than when this year started, life is getting smoother and steadier, i have a job now for a couple of months and tho its p tiring i seem to be pulling through fine (i’m aiming to get a patreon running too, it’s still WIP, but i always draw stuff so hopefully i’ll earn something for it, if i could eventually just count on patreon it would be amazing but thats just silly daydreaming rn)
i very glad i got out of w@kfu fandom honestly, it was a little hard at first to suppress certain muses, but in the long run it was worth it cause i have less things to be upset about too, i’m not going back to that shithole of negativity again
from now on art wise i’ll be focusing on odd jobs hagart (though the odh story is only one part of a pretty big verse thats still under construction, im very fond of it so far, i hope i settle more things out so i can start making stories!) and i’ll probably be entering the overwatch fandom on the side too, i’m not sure how deep i’ll go with that, but roadrat is cute you guys, i want to draw the junkers so much _(>:3」∠)_
i might even make OCs for the hell of it, we’ll SEE how it goes, i might have even ALREADY MADE those OCs, but like i’m just kinda overhyped that i find the drive to still draw and be inspired by things so i’m really up for drawing anything that seems fun, i’m very pleased with how far i’ve come, even if there’s always room for improvement everywhere
