Albert Wesker (Resident Evil 5 era): Look, another test subject for Uroboros has presented itself.

Urdnot Wrex, Grunt (Mass Effect 2) and Wolverine are not the burn-your-house-down types. It would be too easy for the person to learn nothing from the experience, such as how much they should be afraid of running their mouth to the wrong stranger in the future. These three will knock the person out before they even finish the sentence.

Yzma has exactly the right potion for this human flea, except that she adds an extra four or so steps to the plan.

He views himself as a necessary part of evolution, someone willing to do immense cruelty for the betterment of humanity. These beliefs are greatly ingrained in him from Project W's abuse, which was a eugenics program started by the Spencer Foundation. He was told how he was bred for advantages, and how he was perfect in every way, and was one meant to control others.

Viewing himself as nature is also an aspect of his perceived godhood / god complex that comes from being so augmented (and also traumatized). He most aligns with the notion of the Horseman Pestilence/Conquest, where he is technically a servant of the divine, a extension of a god's judgement, bringing a punishment or a reward depending on who is strong and who is weak. He also secondly aligns with Hades/Pluto, in the notion of being a rightful judge or morally fair, and how the Underworld is a necessity, no matter how gruesome Death can be.

Social Darwinism is the core of much of his moral foundation:

He believes that nature will win; the survival of the fittest / natural selection is truth. If he loses, he views it as nature ruling who was truly stronger or weaker. Wesker strives to be strong, and being strong is one of his core self beliefs.

He knows he is capable of both good and evil, though he has done far more evil within the world.

This capability for both is why he goes from attempting a mass extinction event with Uroboros to creating Blue Umbrella: Nature has decreed he is too weak, and Chris is the strong one. And so he follows, acknowledging that there is something that Chris has that he doesn't. Chris becomes a moral step-stone for him, and the one person he actually trusts has the best interests for the world at heart. Chris has proven it to him with HOW MUCH he has beaten Wesker.

Albert's morals are exceedingly complex, as he is very complex, himself. He has rigid standards for what is morally right: for examples, despite experimenting on others, he values consent when it comes to risqué activities, and usually supports all types of personal liberties (can go under read more to see the full report).

When one proves themselves as not WORTHY (or weak in a multitude of categories), he treats them negatively / with great cruelty.

Albert judges if one is worth him or his time by these aspects and greatly values these traits in his moral landscape:

Professionalism + Respect

Can one maintain professionalism or can they respect others? He values his professionalism and walks within the world as a gentleman unless one pushes him to not be. Those who throw themselves at him, such as with Excella, are immediately seen as worth less because of the fact he respects bodily autonomy - especially his own.

Cleverness / Wits / Other Skills -> Giving Opportunities to Prove the Self (as Strong or Weak)

Can one give something of worth to the world? Those who are exceptionally clever or skilled are immediately strong or of worth in his eyes. He seeks them proving their skills repeatedly before giving one his time or trust.

The Balance Between the Greater Good and Selfishness

Can one think of others or just the self? Albert views even his selfish acts as acts for the greater good: he is attempting to save the Earth, though he has used violent ways to do so. He hates Brian Irons because he views him as a selfish man with no regard for anyone, but views Chris is a good light because the man is so selfless.

To sum it up, Albert views even his most villainous acts as nature: necessary for the growth of humanity as a whole. All three of the categories above combine in his mind as criteria if one is strong or weak. As his writer, I like to say his intention isn't always in line with his goals, and though he wishes to do good, he will always be at odds with himself, as he is most oft an agent of evil.

People who are high in hedonism often prioritize the greatest amount of pleasure possible for themselves. The pursuit of stimulation is likely to undermine the pursuit of the tradition value, which is more concerned with preserving time-honored values. Tradition denotes respect, commitment, and acceptance of the customs and ideas that the traditional culture of the individual holds to be best.
