Emma Mountebank
Girl, you’re such a backstabber ⬅️ Link
Preview ⤵️
God she loved you.
Emma was always the confident popular counselor at Hacketts Quarry yet that never was enough to catch your attention.
All she wanted was for you to notice her but she went too far this time.
After all the campers left after the summer program was over, you, Emma, and the other counselors sat by the fire partying and playing truth or dare.
Emma was dared to kiss one of the other counselors, she could have chose anyone.
She could’ve chosen Jacob who sat up proudly thinking she was gonna choose him to kiss.
She could’ve chose you but she was scared she wouldn’t be able to stop after one kiss.
She could’ve chosen Ryan, Dylan, Abby, or Kaitlyn but instead she chose the one person she knew was off limits: Nick.
Abby had a crush on Nick for the whole summer and Emma knew that yet she chose to kiss her best friend’s crush.
You gasp when Emma sits on Nick’s lap and starts making out with him, you sitting next to Abby whose eyes are wide with horror.
Emma didn’t even like Nick but she wanted to make you jealous, hurting Abby in the process.

Brainrot about the tiny details with me, Hacketteers.
Things I’m currently puzzling over:
How many kids go to this camp?
There are 10 cabins and we only see inside one, with Abi, if she and Emma break in to get their bags. It looks like there are four double bunks in there so each cabin would only sleep eight, subtract one for the supervising counselor and you get up to 70 campers.
But they act like they can all leave in one school bus. The maximum capacity of a school bus is 72 but that’s three small children (2nd grade or younger) to a seat, and I don’t think the kids are THAT young, given Abi’s comment about them having filthy minds.
Also, even if Laura and Max made it to camp, there would still only be 9 counselors for 10 cabins. When I went to summer camp, we definitely had one counselor supervising overnight per cabin. Do we think one cabin wasn’t used? That would be seem wasteful given that the camp is hurting for money.
Maybe they gave Nurse Kelly a cabin—it would make sense for her to stay onsite in case she was needed in the night, especially since it seems to be in a pretty remote location.
Where do they all shower and go to the bathroom?
There are showers and bathrooms in the pool house, and one bathroom in the public portion of the lodge, plus the “rustic” outhouses Emma shows us on the Island (no way those empty into the lake, btw. They almost certainly have like a septic tank type thing buried under them). That doesn’t seem like enough for that many people! My summer camp growing up had a whole building for bathrooms and showers but that is conspicuously absent unless it’s somehow in the same building as the Camp Store, which seems inconvenient.
Where is the Art Cabin?
Abi says the art cabin is out of the way when Nick talks about the kids paying attention to her painting lessons, but there are no cabins away from the main ones on the map, that I’ve noticed. Is one of the sleeping cabins actually used for art? Why doesn’t she just use the classroom in the lodge that we see strewn with craft paper?
Is there no adult staff at this camp other than Mr. H and Nurse Kelly?
Not asking for more characters in this already large cast, god knows, but it seems like there should be some kind of custodian/groundskeeper and kitchen staff, at least. Even if Mr. H does all the groundskeeping, there’s no way Nick can cook for all those people single-handedly and still have time to stalk his crush during her art lessons. But if there are actual adults on the cooking staff, why would they make an 18-20 year old guy their supervisor? Do you think the other counselors have to take turns cooking with him?
Who sleeps in the bunks in the lodge?
When Kaitlyn and Dylan are hiding from Caleb, they enter a room with bunk beds in the lodge. What’s that for? Just overflow? Seems like a good place for the additional staff that we never hear about to sleep. I imagine the counselors all sleeping there during their training/orientation before the kids arrive, though that’s never actually confirmed to happen in the game.
What do y’all think? What are your lingering questions about the locations or how the camp is run?

Next one Chris!
Different playthroughs, different filters and different outfits. But all chronological. Partly I made them lighter. But they might still look rather dark on your screen. Sorry if that is the case.
Edit: I added the photo of Travis and Chris. I forgot about that...

23:50 | June 24th hongjoong & mingi
જ⁀➴ Hongjoong glanced over at Mingi, whose fingers tapped lightly on the steering wheel in rhythm with the music. Mingi's hum was soft, almost like he was trying not to disrupt the quiet atmosphere in the car, and Hongjoong couldn't help but feel a little more at ease because of it. He shifted his gaze out the window, watching as the trees blur. Hongjoong looked down to his phone, the no signal bar causing him to groan in annoyance. Mingi took a glance before he let out a chuckle.
" what's wrong hyung?"
" no signal, and we look lost Mingi. Are you sure we're going the right way?" Hongjoong asked, looking at the blank GPS screen.
" well.. we kinda lost signal a couple of miles back but -"
" so we're lost," Hongjoong huffed.
Mingi laughed, a little too casually, keeping his eyes on the winding road. "Not lost, exactly. Just... taking the scenic route."
Hongjoong gave him a skeptical look, crossing his arms. "The scenic route? Mingi, we’re in the middle of nowhere, and the GPS has no signal."
Mingi scratched the back of his head, grinning sheepishly. "Look, I may have missed a turn. But it’s all part of the adventure, right? No maps, no plans… just us and the open road."
Hongjoong let out a sigh, unable to hold back a small smile. "Only you would call being lost an adventure."
“Come on, hyung, where’s your sense of spontaneity?” Mingi teased, shooting him a playful look.
" yn and everyone else are going to be worried. We promise to keep them updated." Hongjoong grumbled, his eyes going back to the road.
Mingi sighed, " i know, especially since the place is going to be opening for the first time since -"
" since those murders in 2021, yeah i know. Speaking of, why did we agree to do this stupid summer camp?"
Mingi’s playful grin faded as he remembered. "Yeah… guess we didn’t think that part through, huh?"
Hongjoong nodded, his fingers drumming against his knee. "I still don’t know why we agreed. A summer camp at a place with a history like that? They probably think we're crazy."
"Maybe we are," Mingi joked, though there was a flicker of nervousness in his eyes. "But, hey, someone’s gotta do it, right? Plus, it’s supposed to be a fresh start for the place, a chance to move on."
Hongjoong sighed, still uneasy but trying to believe that maybe, just maybe, they were there to bring something positive. "Let’s just hope we aren’t the ones who need rescuing by the end of this.”
Mingi let out a soft hum, Hongjoong tapping his fingers to the music before something caught his eyes.
A flicker of movement just beyond the trees drew Hongjoong’s attention. He leaned forward, squinting as he tried to make out what he saw—a figure? Something that seemed out of place against the dense green backdrop.
“Mingi, Hongjoong said, his voice low, his fingers pausing mid-tap. “Did you see that?”
Mingi glanced over, following Hongjoong’s gaze toward the trees. “See what?”
Hongjoong shook his head, still staring as the figure seemed to vanish into the shadows. “I don’t know… I thought I saw someone, just standing there. Watching us.”
Mingi chuckled nervously, trying to brush off the chill that crept into the car. “Probably just some animal, hyung. Or your imagination. It’s the middle of nowhere, remember?”
“Maybe,” Hongjoong muttered, though he couldn’t shake the image from his mind. He forced himself to look away, but the uneasy feeling lingered as they drove deeper into the forest.
Just as Hongjoong looked away, the two males let out a gasp as Mingi tried to swerve away from something that was hunched over on the road. Hongjoong
Hongjoong’s heart raced as he gripped the seat, eyes wide as Mingi jerked the wheel. The car swerved sharply, tires screeching as Mingi struggled to regain control. They both caught a glimpse of a hunched figure, shrouded in shadow, barely illuminated by the headlights before it disappeared from sight.
"Mingi, what was that?" Hongjoong’s voice trembled, his gaze fixed on the dark road ahead.
"I don’t know!" Mingi's knuckles were white against the wheel, his breathing uneven. "It looked… human, but it was— I couldn’t see its face. It just… appeared."
They sat in silence, hearts pounding, as the car rolled to a stop on the side of the road. Both of them were afraid to look back, the air thick with dread.
Hongjoong swallowed, trying to steady his voice. "Should we… check it out? Make sure we didn’t hit it?"
Mingi shook his head quickly, his voice barely a whisper. "Hyung… maybe we just keep going."
" what if it was a person? " Hongjoong asked, already taking his seatbelt off.
Mingi shook his head, " it looked like an animal. Come on, we're nearly there to the camp."
Hongjoong hesitated, his hand frozen on the seatbelt buckle as he looked out into the darkness. "I don’t know, Mingi… if it was a person, we can’t just leave them here."
Mingi swallowed, glancing back at the road nervously. "Hyung, I know how it looked, but… there’s no way that was human. The way it moved, hunched over like that—it wasn’t normal."
Hongjoong’s gaze shifted between Mingi and the empty road, uncertainty flickering in his eyes. But something deep down told him that stopping wasn’t a good idea. They were close to the camp, and the thought of being stranded out here with something lurking unsettled him more than he wanted to admit.
“Alright,” he finally conceded, slowly putting his seatbelt back on. “But if we hear anything or see it again, we’re checking.”
“Deal,” Mingi agreed, relief washing over him as he started the car. They drove forward, the unsettling encounter leaving a lingering tension in the air as the camp finally came into view through the trees.
00:26 June 25th Hongjoong & Mingi
જ⁀➴ Mingi and Hongjoong were banging on the door, goosebumps covering their body as they sighed in defeat. Mingi crossed his arms, annoyance plater on his face as he turned to Hongjoong.
" did you even talk to the new owner?" Mingi whined, nearly stomping his feet but stopped himself when Hongjoong glared at him.
" the owner didn't pick up, i left him a voicemail.." Hongjoong mumbled, looking away from his young lover.
“A voicemail?” Mingi repeated, exasperated. “You mean to tell me we drove all this way, past… whatever that thing was on the road… for a voicemail?”
“Yeah, because that was such a good call.” Mingi gestured toward the locked door. “Now we’re locked out here, freezing our butts off."
Hongjoong huffed, crossing his arms as he looked up at the old, dark building in front of them. The camp looked even more eerie than he’d expected—weathered wood, windows dark and lifeless, as though it hadn’t been touched in years.
“ you would think with new management they’ll keep the building tidy,” Mingi mumbled.
“ look, why don’t you go and wait in the car for me hm? i’ll take a look around before we look for a hotel nearby,” Hongjoong said, not looking at him.
Mingi nodded. “Alright, but don’t take too long. This place is giving me the creeps,” he muttered, casting a wary glance around.
“I won’t be long, I promise.”
He watched as Mingi shuffled back to the car before he turned to face the old building again, squaring his shoulders and approaching the front door. He knocked once more, the echo fading into the emptiness around him.
After a few moments of silence, Hongjoong sighed, muttering under his breath. “I swear, Yn, you’re in so much trouble when I see you tomorrow.”
He took a few cautious steps around the side of the building, his eyes scanning the windows and doors for any sign of life. The wind picked up, sending a shiver down his spine as he heard leaves rustling nearby. It was quiet, but every now and then, he felt a pair of unseen eyes on him, making his skin crawl.
Back at the car, Mingi waited, glancing at his phone, though it still showed no signal. He looked up as Hongjoong returned to his side, an uneasy expression on his face.
“Any luck?” Mingi asked, a hint of hope in his voice.
Hongjoong shook his head. “No sign of anyone. And still no signal?”
Mingi shook his head, disappointed. “Nothing. You think we’ll have to find a hotel?”
Hongjoong nodded, but just as he was about to speak, a faint, eerie crunch echoed from the nearby trees, causing both of them to freeze. Hongjoong’s hand instinctively moved to Mingi’s shoulder.
“Stay close,” he whispered, his own voice barely steady. Whatever was out there, they both knew it was no simple animal.
Hongjoong’s eyes darted to the source of the sound, heart pounding as he scanned the dark treeline. The crunching grew louder, deliberate, like someone—or something—was circling them.
Mingi looked at Hongjoong in fear, "hyung… maybe it’s just an animal,” he whispered, though his voice betrayed his unease.
But Hongjoong shook his head, eyes narrowing as he listened. "That’s not just an animal, Mingi. It sounds… heavier.”
They stood side by side, barely daring to breathe as the footsteps grew closer, each crunch of leaves sending a wave of dread through them. The sound was heavy, calculated, like something stalking its prey.
Hongjoong clenched his jaw, holding Mingi a little closer. “Stay behind me,” he murmured, his gaze never leaving the shadowed trees. He could feel Mingi’s hand trembling on his arm, but he kept his own grip steady, bracing himself for whatever might emerge.
“Hyung…” Mingi’s voice was a shaky whisper, his wide eyes darting around, searching for a way out.
With the wind howling, the leaves shuffling and the full moon shining brightly down below them seemed such a scene out of a horror movie. The taller male clinging onto the shorter male as he held his phone, the light shinning as much as it could.
“ hyung, let’s just go back into the car and -“
The sudden animalistic growl cut Mingi off, Hongjoong shifting his light towards the sound. Mingi’s grip tightened on Hongjoong, making him hiss out in pain.
Hongjoong winced, trying to shake off the discomfort as he adjusted the light, its narrow beam barely cutting through the darkness around them. Mingi reluctantly loosened his grip but stayed close, his wide eyes fixed on the shadowed trees as another low growl echoed from deeper within the forest.
“Let’s… let’s just go back,” Mingi pleaded, his voice trembling. “We don’t need to know what that is, hyung. We really don’t.”
Hongjoong hesitated, glancing between the safety of the car and the darkened path in front of them. The logical part of him agreed with Mingi—every instinct screamed at him to turn back and drive far away. But another part of him felt rooted, as if something in the shadows was pulling him closer, demanding his attention.
Just as he was about to speak, the growl grew louder, more ferocious, reverberating through the trees. This time, it was accompanied by the sound of branches snapping and leaves crunching, as if something large and powerful was moving toward them.
Hongjoong’s heart raced, and he gave Mingi a firm push toward the car. “Get in and lock the doors.”
“Hyung, I’m not leaving you here alone!” Mingi protested, panic flaring in his eyes.
Hongjoong shrugged the younger male off as he turned to him. A look so serious, Mingi knew that he is to take everything he says serious.
“ run to the car and don’t turn back. Go!” Hongjoong yelled, shoving Mingi away just as something tackled Hongjoong to the ground.
Mingi stumbled backward, his eyes wide with fear and hesitation as he watched Hongjoong struggle beneath the weight of the creature. It had lunged from the shadows so fast, like a blur of dark, twisted limbs, pinning Hongjoong to the ground before he could even react.
“Go!” Hongjoong shouted again, his voice strained as he fought to push the creature back.
But Mingi couldn’t move, rooted to the spot in terror. Every part of him wanted to run, to obey, but seeing Hongjoong on the ground, fighting for his life, kept him frozen.
“Damn it, Mingi, run!” Hongjoong’s voice cut through the haze, snapping him back to reality.
With a strangled gasp, Mingi finally turned, sprinting toward the car with his heart pounding wildly in his chest. His footsteps were loud against the ground, but the only thing he could hear was the sound of Hongjoong’s struggling breaths and the creature’s low, guttural growls. Tears pricked at Mingi’s eyes, guilt and fear clawing at him as he fumbled with the car door, throwing himself into the driver’s seat.
He glanced back, just in time to see Hongjoong shove the creature off, his face twisted in pain but his determination unwavering. But before Mingi could even think of helping, the creature lunged again, claws flashing in the dim light.
Desperation took over as Mingi turned the key in the ignition, praying the car would start. The engine sputtered, and he cursed, trying again. “Come on, come on…”
Mingi’s hands shook violently as he jammed the key into the ignition again, his heart racing faster with each failed attempt. Hongjoong’s cries echoed in his mind, fueling his desperation, and he felt the weight of panic press down on him like never before.
“Please, please, just start!” he muttered, voice thick with fear, gripping the wheel as if sheer force would make the engine turn over.
The engine gave one last sputter before roaring to life, the sudden sound almost a relief too great to bear. As Mingi’s hands gripped the steering wheel, a cold, vice-like grip suddenly yanked him from his seat, tearing him out of the car with terrifying strength. He barely had time to scream as he was dragged backward, his nails scratching against the ground in desperation. His terrified cries pierced the night, echoing through the dense forest, scattering the last few birds that had been resting in the trees.
“H-Hongjoong!”

Stupid spindles. Stupid princes who argue curse semantics. Now Wade’s got to go rescue his brat of a charge from the tower guarded by a seemingly invincible spider demon. It’d help if he could figure out why the demon’s acting so strange, but the council is too busy breathing down his neck to listen and Spidey is so gods-be-damned cryptic.

He knows he is issues upon issues all wrapped up in the nastiest package anyone has ever seen, he’s a violent, suicidal mess, he’s unlovable and destroys everything and everyone he touches. He knows he used up all of his good luck when Spider-Man allowed him to follow along for his patrols and dried up the well when Peter became his friend.
So, forgive him if he’s a little shocked when Peter asks him out on a date, a real, totally serious, no joking, romantic date. He’s a lot more shocked when the hero actually wants a romantic relationship with the mercenary.
It seems that Peter Parker is determined to prove Wade wrong on everything he believes about himself. Fuck.

Hackett's Quarry Summer Camp was full of excited chatter as the kids made sure their last day of camp was well-spent. Camp had been a whirlwind full of laughter, stories by the campfire (most of which Mr. H would detest), and fun all around, but unfortunately it had to end. The kids did as much as they could before they inevitably had to come to terms with the setting sun, packing their bags and having their last meal before the trip home.
Every counsellor made their way to sit by the campfire while waiting for the campers to come out of their cabins. Dylan picks his spot on the log next to Y/n, giving each other a small smile before they start chatting with the others. Loud chatter echoed through the air all night, quick glances being thrown Y/n's way as they chatted to a group of campers.
After the kids had devoured all the s'mores, and the campfire had burned low, the kids had been sent back to their cabins to sleep, and Dylan and Y/n had found themselves sat by the lake."It's crazy that summer's already over", Dylan sighs, resting his elbows on his knees as he looks over to Y/n. "Yeah it kind of sucks, I like it here." They reply, throwing Dylan a smile, handing him a rock.
Dylan throws them a puzzled look, taking the rock from their hand. Y/n lets out a small chuckle before standing up and throwing the rock into the lake, watching as it skips a couple of times before sinking into the water. Dylan follows their movements, chucking the rock into the water, though it just dives in with a sad 'plop'. He turns around to Y/n's laughing figure, "Okay, you don't need to laugh. We aren't all blessed with rock skipping skills." Dylan's voice is laced with sass as he smiles at Y/n, watching them as he makes sure to memorise this moment to cherish.
"Okay here, I'll help you out" Y/n places another rock in Dylan's hand, positioning him from behind and hesitantly placing their hand on top of his. They look up at him for any sign of discomfort, their eyes scanned over his face, until he looked back and they quickly snapped back to face the lake.
Dylan smiles to himself as he focuses back on their hands together, Y/n softly moving his hand to show him the correct way to throw the rock, though it isn't about that anymore for either of them. Y/n breathing wavers as they try to calm themself, as Dylan hoped Y/n couldn't feel his heart beating from the back of his ribs. "You should probably take me out to dinner first" Dylan flirted, looking back at Y/n with a stupid smirk on his face. Y/n nervously laughed in response as they flung the rock from Dylan's hand into the water, watching it skips before dropping.
Y/n quickly removes their hand from his, trembling as they attempt to head back to the counsellors cabin, before Dylan reaches out "Hey. You don't.. uh, do you want to stay a bit longer?" He fumbled his words, interlocking his fingers with Y/n's. "Uh.. yeah." Y/n smiles softly, looking at Dylan through their eyelashes as they tighten their grip on his hand, moving closer to him.
They sit back at the foot of the pier, their hands never separating, Y/n's head sits on Dylan's shoulder as they talk for as long as they can before fatigue hits them both. When they both agreed to call it a night, Dylan stood up. "Would you want to sleep in my bed?" he wiggled his eyebrows at Y/n teasingly, offering his hand to help them up then leading then back to the cabin.
After getting comfortable in his bed, Dylan patted the spot next to him, though undoubtedly small, Y/n lay down next to him. Dylan let them get comfortable before he wrapped his arms around them, placing a small kiss on the side of their head before they lay together in silence. Y/n let the comfort of Dylan's touch and presence lull them to sleep, they really made the most of the last night of summer camp.

This is from last summer but I’m newish to the fandom and hadn’t seen it and I thought it was kind of cool to see the counselors ranked based on how good someone familiar with camp thought they’d be as actual counselors! I think Nick should be a little higher given the rope course pee pants incident he apparently handled quite gracefully and Max was left off, I assume because he’s barely playable, but should be in the upper half because he’d have all the kids saying stupid shit like “son of a binky bonky in no time, but otherwise the reasoning seems sound.
8) Emma Mountebank
If you’ve finished The Quarry, you might be surprised to see Emma taking the bottom spot. There’s another person (who’s coming up very soon) who many would probably assume is the worst counselor of the bunch, but I actually think it’s Emma. The first clue is how much she’s on her phone the second she gets it back from the director Chris Hackett. Now, being on your phone isn’t anything new for directors to deal with. In fact, it might even be the biggest issue most directors have if they have a no-phone policy.
The issue with Emma is that she seems even more obsessed with it and her image than most normal teens. That hints to me that she’s a very self-absorbed counselor who is probably just here because she thinks it’d be fun or look good on a resume. If the game had said Emma had come to Hackett’s Quarry as a camper, I wouldn’t be surprised. You see that a lot where campers think counselors are cool so they want to be one when they get older — even if they have no desire to work with kids. Then, they just buy several sets of skorts and hang out by the tennis court all day without actually teaching anyone to play tennis. Not that that scenario has ever happened to me or anything.
These are the worst counselors. They never want to do anything and are just waiting for their next off day so they can get away from the campers. Emma tops it off by basically confirming she’s been sneaking off with Jacob all summer. I wouldn’t knock anybody too much for that. I mean, that’s how I met my wife, so I’m not going to throw much shade, but it adds up and gets her the bottom spot on my list.
7) Jacob Custos
This is probably who most people were expecting to see at the very bottom. Jacob is always hanging out with Emma, oversells his own abilities, is incredibly reckless, and is kind of an idiot. I mean, the dude pointed a loaded gun at his fellow counselors. That’s probably enough to get sent home at most camps if you’re doing that around kids.
However, we don’t see Jacob around kids and there are some hints that he could at least be the “cool counselor.” Notice, I didn’t say good, but Jacob proves several times that he’s always down to have a good time. With the right guidance, you can use someone like that to pump up kids ahead of games or pull a kid out of a bad case of homesickness.
That doesn’t make him a good counselor, but I definitely can see a world where Jacob could at least make it to mediocre. I’m not sure if I see that same potential for Emma. If nothing else, I would absolutely be getting him on the stage to do the Peanut Butter Pops song to call in campers for snack time at least once a session.
6) Nick Furcillo
Because we just don’t see much from him Nick has to rank low on this list. We do witness him being a consummate wingman for the other male counselors, which can be a good thing. If you pair him with someone like Jacob in a cabin, he can balance out that puppy dog energy and make sure kids aren’t using sunscreen for shampoo (yes, that actually happened).
Nick is firmly in the solid category of counselors, at least based on what we see. He could very well be the best of the lot, but his story doesn’t give us much time to learn about him. Though, I shouldn’t end without mentioning that his accent will definitely be a conversation starter for campers if my experience tells me anything. Just slap on that Aussie charm and at least half the camp is going to automatically think you’re the coolest dude there.
5) Abigail Blyg
Is Abigail a bad counselor? Probably not. However, we learn early in the game that she essentially doesn’t leave the art room. Some camps have counselors with specific jobs, but I’d prefer someone who’s willing to move around a bit. Even if you absolutely love the arts (or theater or sports), not doing anything else is going to make for a boring summer. If you’re getting bored, just imagine how the campers feel.
Sure, being in the air conditioning all summer is great, but the best counselors really put themselves out there and try just as many new things as the kids they’re working with. Live a little, Abi!
That said, we also see Abi being the most sensitive member of the bunch. Being more in touch with your feelings can make you an exceptional counselor if you’re paired with someone that’s a little more assertive in the cabin. I’d put Abi with someone like Kaitlyn in my youngest girl’s cabin and be pretty confident they’ll be in great hands. Abi simply ranks a little lower because she doesn’t seem as versatile as some of the other counselors and could turn into a pushover if partnered with older campers.
4) Ryan Erzahler
Ryan seems like a great counselor on the surface. Chris seems to trust him as his number one guy in the trenches and he’s usually taking charge in high-pressure situations. We also know that he’s a veteran camper, which can come in handy, especially when werewolves are stalking the camp, looking for their next bite to eat.
The issue is that Ryan seems to misuse the trust Chris gives him. Not only did he sneak his phone into his cabin (a huge no-no in the camping world), but he’s also telling ghost stories to young campers. He knows that Chris will always have his back and appears to be using that in this favor, which is never a good look for a veteran counselor. Yes, you’ve been there before, but when you start getting too comfortable, you start making mistakes.
Ryan also is a bit of a loner. We’ve got nothing against dudes who love the undead, and not every counselor needs to be as in your face as Jacob, but we need some more pep in that step, Ry-guy. I’m not expecting you to run into the mess hall singing for breakfast because I’d never ask anyone to do something I won’t. We just need some energy in that voice when we’re hanging out with campers. Some days you have to convince them they’re having fun and Ryan couldn’t do that even if they’re going to Disney World with that monotone voice.
3) Laura Kearney
Laura is probably the toughest to place. That makes a lot of sense considering she never actually came to camp for the summer. Instead, she was dealing with werewolf-adjacent things that we won’t spoil here.
What we do see is someone that’s resourceful, willing to do the dirty work, and works well with others. We also know she was set to be the nurse assistant (which isn’t something I’ve ever seen a counselor do, but every camp is different). Considering how well she handled a certain slashing during her story, we think she can probably tolerate any scrape or bruise a camper can throw at her without much problem.
Unfortunately, we don’t see enough of Laura interacting with her co-counselors to place her any higher. She might be the best counselor of the bunch, but those pesky werewolves kept us from coming to that conclusion. At the very least, we’re wholly confident that she can take care of any snake or raccoon problems the camp might run into.
2) Dylan Lenivy
Even as I made this list, Dylan’s placement surprised me. He’s kind of an idiot who’s always looking for the next quip and calls emergency services “ninety-one-one.” Can you trust someone like that? It also doesn’t seem like Dylan really believes in his director, which probably isn’t the best thing for a young counselor and, like most of these counselors, has quite the vulgar vocabulary.
However, Dylan is legitimately funny at times and kids tend to appreciate the effort even if you aren’t that funny. In fact, they tend to laugh at a lot more bad jokes than most adults I know if your delivery is on point. Plus, we see Dylan taking real initiative as both a camper and counselor in setting up and keeping the camp radio running.
That’s huge for a director. If you have someone you can trust to take something off your plate, you might well treat them as valuable as a silver bullet. Dylan might not be the best of the bunch in terms of interpersonal relationships, but he’s an asset that I’d love to see on the first day of a new summer. I just hope his taste in music is better than some of those “jokes.”
1) Kaitlyn Ka
Kaitlyn is easily the best counselor out of this bunch. She is the definition of leadership material. From the jump we see Kaitlyn taking her role at camp seriously. The majority of camp injuries happen when the counselors let their guards down and are hanging out without the campers. Even with everyone gone, Kaitlyn still maintains range discipline during Jacob and Nick’s shoot-off. She still has a good time, but lives by a director’s favorite rule: “safety never takes a holiday.”
We also know that she took over Laura’s role as the nurse assistant when Laura didn’t show up. Like Dylan, I want people on our staff that take initiative and solve problems for us. Missing two counselors for an entire summer is going to have a huge impact. If you have someone like Kaitlyn who can step up and fill that role (while still keeping up with her own responsibilities), that’s somebody you want to hold onto.
All I’m saying is that if Chris makes it through the night and isn’t calling Kaitlyn to ask her to be his assistant director next year, something’s wrong. Heck, seeing as how Chris put his entire group of campers and staff at major risk for like six years, maybe the Hackett family should just give Kaitlyn the director position at this point. At the very least, she isn’t going to be getting anyone mauled by supernatural beasts if they stick around for an extra day at their favorite summer destination.

Sheriff Travis Hackett, he is a grumpy cop
He rescues Max and Laura, their car comes to a stop
Out there hunting werewolves, he's been at it for six years
He's trying to protect those kids, those silly Hacketteers
His brother runs a summer camp, out there at Hackett's Quarry
When camp's over, it's not safe, things are gonna get gory
His family's cursed, and they're at risk, but he needs some help
If he's gonna end things, and make the White Wolf yelp
He recruits Miss Kearney, Laura is her name
She teams up with Ryan, and now they're out to maim
Together they track Silas, the one who cursed them all
And even though they shoot him dead, it was a real close call
When the curse is ended, Travis is relieved
But then reality sets in, and he is bereaved
He's lost his niece and brother, poor Travis, his heart aches
He'll keep their memories alive, no matter what it takes
