YJ Mako Mermaids AU (this post context)- Tail headcanons!!(and main powers)

Konners tail- (Hydro Thermokenisis)

Bright orange with dark red highlights on his more spike shaped fins. Very reminiscent of lava especially when the sun hits it just right. This is a tail made for POWER- lots of muscle under those scales that packs a nasty punch. He learned that after accidently smashing part of a reef bed, didnt hurt nearly as much as the lecture from Bart afterwards though.

Tims tail- (Hydro Cryokenisis)

A range of Blues from almost black to neon, extra fins are more wavy than pointed. It resembles something that would come from the deep sea and does in fact glow in the right light. A tail made for Dexterity above all else, tight twists and turns are a breeze. Though as a result of his new found ease, he's no longer allowed to play navigator since some of his "routes" are impossible for the others.

Cassies Tail- (None Siren song)

A gorgeous true and white gold that shimmers as she glides through the water. The real fun though? Her tail gives her the power and manuverability to launch herself out of the water at outrageous heights. Of course after a close call with her almost flopping on the deck of a Wayne research boat, she isnt allowed to do her "bursts" out of the water unless absolutely certian shes alone with her friends.

Barts tail- (Electrokensis)

An array of orange contrasted with white and black markings make Barts tail blend in the most of all. One advantage he does have over his friends is a tail made for pure speed, his top fin cutting through the water with no restraint. But such speed makes it hard to dodge objects when he isnt careful, and dragging an unconcious bart onto dry land while still in tails themselves? A nightmare.

None of their tails seem to tie back to any specific species of origin, but seem to have traits unique to their own features.

hear me out, since emma had to give up swimming she decided to take up ice skating ! i feel like it suits her super well, it takes a lot of discipline and grace (classic emma traits) and it could have actually given her development. instead the show shoves *sh d*ve down our throats <\3 also if the ice was uneven/melty she’d just slyly freeze it. she’s a super athletic person she would definitely need something to fill the void and this way she could stay active and sweat wouldn’t be a problem

Luisa, Camilo, and Mirabel walked through the thick woods on the Encanto. Camilo led the way, the trio's only light being a lantern that Camilo was holding up. He had a smirk on his face as they walked, and Mirabel was close behind. Luisa's eyes kept darting around, and she nervously bit her lip.

"Guys, I don't know about this..." She said softly and Camilo snorted.

"Come on! We have to find something interesting. No one else will come up here. And it's not like anyone will notice we're gone," Camilo said nonchalantly.

He was right there. It was the dead of night. Well, not midnight, but late enough that the three could sneak out unnoticed. Normally people would've noticed; after all two barely 13-year-olds and a 17-year-old? Of course, people would notice. And they were the Madrigals no less.

"Come on Lulu," Mirabel gave her older sister a sympathetic smile. "We're just gonna find this cave, check it out, and leave. In and out."

Luisa's eyes flicked between her younger sister and younger primo. She sighed, continuing to follow behind them. She was the oldest, she was the strongest. Someone had to protect them if something happened.

They had been walking for who knows how long and were definitely a good ways away from the village. Camilo squinted his eyes, the lantern not much help. He was walking, walking, walking-

His eyes widened as his right foot suddenly found no ground and before he could even look down, he found himself slipping down a hole.

"Camilo? Camilo!" Mirabel had noticed quickly that her primo had disappeared and the lantern he was holding had dropped to the ground. Luisa stared, her eye twitching as Mirabel carefully walked forward, leaning forward.

"What happened?!" Luisa asked frantically.

Mirabel was panicking a bit too. "I-I don't know!" She moved closer, looking into the hole. It was big. Almost like a sinkhole but...there weren't many sinkholes. And the river couldn't bave erroded the ground this deep, especially near the base of one of the mountains... "Camilo! Are you okay?"

The two sisters waited anxiously before his voice finally echoed back. "Yeah I'm ok! I think I found the cave! It's mostly empty with some kind of pool!"

"Pool?" Luisa asked confused. Mirabek had gotten up looking around. Luisa watched her and she finally found what she was looking for. It was a vine, thick and sturdy. She watched her younger sister tie it around her waist and hand her the other end.

"W-What are you doing?" Luisa asked, following her sister to the hole.

"I'm gonna go down there and get Camilo. Hold onto the vine, and I'll tug so you can pull us up. Your gift makes it easier anyway."

Luisa shifted her weight from one foot to the other. With a hesitant nod, Luisa sghed "I guess."

Mirabel moved closer to the hole before sliding down. She watched the vine get shorter and shorter until finally it stopped. There was no noise, but then she felt a tug and heard Mirabel's voice.

"You can pull us up now!" Mirabel called. Luisa jumped before beginning to pull. It was hard, obviously, given her powers, but the vine jept getting caught on stuff. She wasn't paying attention and slowly it began to fray at where she was pulling.

It took only a second before a loud snapping was heard and she heard her hermanita and primito screaming as they were falling back fown. Luisa wasn't even thinking when she threw herself at the vine trying to grap it but instead slipped in the mud and fell into the hole herself.

After a minute she hit the hard ground, and she groaned softly as she sat up. Camilo and Mirabel rushed over.

"Luisa, are you okay?! What happened?" Mirabel asked and Luisa rubbed her now scrapped elbows. She'd have to eat some of her mamá food for that later.

"I...I don't know. The vine must've snapped under your guys weight. I tried to grab it but I slipped and fell in," she explained, standing up.

Camilo threw his hands up. "Well how are we supposed to get out now! The only other hole is up there," he pointed up, and above the hallow cave was the rest of the moutain, and a massive hole gave them a glimpse of the night sky, where the moon was slowly moving across it.

The three sat there for a moment beforr Mirabel looked towards the large pool of water. "Wait, if there's water coming in, than that means that there's gotta be water going out!"

Luisa amd Camilo nodded in understanding. "That must mean that this pool leads out to the main river! We could probably swim under and follow the current to get to the river!"

"And we'll be home free...you guys can hold you breaths for a whole right?" Camilo asked and both of his primas nodded.

"But how are we gonna explain coming home sopping wet?" Luisa asked and Camilo waved his hand.

"It's fine. Casita won't tell on us and everyone else will still be asleep if we're quick enough."

Luisa seemed satisfied withthat answered and the three made their way to the pool. Luisa offered herself to go in first. She was careful not to cause too big of a splash, and her eyebrows were raised as she treaded the water.

"What is it? Is something wrong?" Mirabel asked and Luisa shook her head.

"No, no it's just...not as cold as I thought it would be. It feels...different." She mumbled.

"Different how?" Camilo asked, slipping in with Mirabel. She was right, it did feel strange.

"I don't know...but we don't have time to worry about that, we have to get out of here as soon as possible," Luisa said, looking between the two. "I don't want to get in trouble and I certainly don't wanna die here." The two younger ones nodded in agreement.

Before they could duck underwater, a bright light shone down on the pool. At first they didn't think anything of it. The moon was high in the sky, and sitting directly above them; it was midnight by that point.

It wasn't until a few seconds later that they noticed.

"Uh...why is the water boiling?" Mirabel asked hesitantly as the water around them began to become more turbulent.

"Why is it not hot...?" Luisa asked.

"We're gonna die," Camilo said in a dead pan voice.

"What?!" Luisa asked panicked.

"We are not going to die!" Mirabel said, glaring at Camilo. But even she wasn't sure. While the water wasn't hot, it was stil acting...strange, when only just a few moments ago, it was calm amd still. Only when the moon came across did it change.

"Hey, does anyone else feel...weird?" Luisa asked.

Wrote a lil summary to go with it:

The Demon X Angel AU in which Rikki is a highly ranked demon- The embodiment/representative of one of The 7 Deadly Sins; Wrath, and Emma is her Angelic counterpart; The Heavenly Virtue of Patience.

Both are sent to Earth, each with their own missions; Rikki is to cause chaos, encourage humans to “sin” and corrupt their souls, whereas Emma is to spread positivity and kindness, protect people and keep them on a “righteous” path.

What if they meet on the Australian Gold Coast, both under the assumption that the other is human? What if they both try to change each other's ways? Rikki trying to get the Angel to let loose and rebel, and Emma trying to get the demon to play more by the rules (and maybe teach her some self and impulse control while she's at it) What if somewhere down the line of this impossible game, they grow to like each other? What if another one of The Deadly Sins gets involved because Hell got word that an angel is interfering with their plans? What if the conflict that follows forces Emma to reveal herself as an Angel to Rikki? Will their relationship survive and continue to grow, or are they doomed to end up as enemies?

So, I have this AU idea and made a silly lil moodboard thingy for it.

DBZ: Waves of Freedom AU FAQ + Q&A:

Btw, these are just for fun- but feel free to submit any asks about my AU and the fanfic in the ask box!

Q: I’ve noticed many similarities to The Little Mermaid. Is this an actual adaptation or just a modern retelling?

A: Yes and No! I actually took inspiration from both the Disney movie and the original tale by Hans Christian Andersen. I also got inspired by DBZ, Brother Bear, and maybe even Mermaid Melody Pitchi Pitchi Pitch to make the story. Instead of going with the straightforward plot of the mermaid going on land to find love, I decided to have the main protagonist become a merperson and escape a life of surpression and shape their own destiny. Also, it’s basically the TLM but told from the POV of Eric, who is now promoted to the main character instead of the secondary one. And let’s be real here, the original story’s been almost done to death (No offense), and I wanted to do something fresh and new.

Q: Frieza is incredibly different in this story. How did the Emperor of Universe 7 end up being adapted into a tyrannical CEO in the fanfic?

A: I actually took elements from Triton (The authoritarian figure) and Ursula (The manipulative antagonist), as well as elements from his own character, like his charisma and merciless demeanor, especially when he drops more work on Vegeta like a bombshell in Chapter 2. Btw, his design is his Society Survival Saga design from Super Dragon Ball Heroes, but more elaborate to reflect that he’s a controlling CEO. Bonus points if he’s stroking a kitty cat.

Q: A detail I’ve noticed in the fanfiction is that it also centers on environmental themes, given that the company in the story is called Empire Oil Drilling Corps. Are there any other moments of this?

A: Yes! Frieza’s company claims to be helping the environment, when they’re really not- they’re actually planning to drill for oil and possibly harm the ocean, while the merpeople care for their home and take great joy in seeing it happy and healthy. It’s called Empire OIL DRILLING Corps for a good reason.

Q: What made you want to design the dual land and sea forms of the characters?

A: I wanted the characters to traverse worlds without being bound to a singular form, and I got inspired by H20: Just Add Water for this! To put it simply, duality is a massive theme in the fanfic, and so is balance. The land forms reflect the roles of the cast and are often comfortable to walk in and wear, while the sea forms take inspiration from various sea creatures from beneath the waves- or the Disney version of The Little Mermaid for Goku and Vegeta! In short, duality and balance are two sides of the same coin- one can’t exist without the other. Darkness and light, good and evil, black and white, and of course, Land and Sea.

Q: How did you develop Atlantis and the underwater + land worlds?

A: I took pages out of The Little Mermaid’s Atlantica, Aquaman’s version of Atlantis, Abzu, and Endless Ocean to get a feel for the undersea world. Each district in the now reborn city beneath the waves is named after a water deity in mythology, like Mazu (Chinese) and Chalchiuhtlicue (Aztec). But there are tons more, and the ocean dwelling part of the cast resides in homes across the city. And as for the land world aka Scalefall Bay, I got inspired by stories of various totalitarian regimes, such as 1984 and The Hunger Games, to get a feel for what Vegeta’s life on land is like. Monochrome and drab colors are used to convey a life of uniformity and oppression, as opposed to the bright and colorful realm beneath the surface of the ocean, where merpeople are free to be who they want to be.

Q: Did you have anything planned for the fanfic that sadly got cut?

A: Ohhh boy, do I have a ton for you! Let’s see, we have some scenes like an undersea race across the coral reef between Yamcha and Krillin, a flashback to Kid!Vegeta when he got the abalone from his dad, an entire subplot involving The Pride Troopers (Who are part time anglers and conspiracy theories who believe merpeople are real @thunder-jolt for the idea), another subplot in which Chi Chi’s worries come into play, you get the idea. Heck, I even had various ideas for the transformation Vegeta undergoes in Chapter 5 (Including one inspired by when Majin Vegeta did his Final Explosion to take out Majin Buu) before I settled on one I was satisfied with. Also, he was going to have more accessories in his merman form- jewels, pearls, armbands, pendants, earrings, tail anklets, and maybe even a tiara of sorts. But in the end I chose to just give him the water lily hairpin and the bracelet- both from Chapter 3. There was even a subplot where Zarbon became a siren after being all like “I’ll take the treasure instead!”, when he’s asked by Frieza to bring Vegeta back.

Q: Are there any cameos and Easter eggs sprinkled throughout the story?

A: Yes! When Goku is explaining about merpeople society and how that every time they breach the surface, they always see something that was never there before; you can see Caulifla, Cabba, and Kale resting on a sandbank gazing out at a massive seaside city, Videl perching on a rock in the sunset, Yurin swimming up a river to see the various foundations lining the banks, the Kamikaze Fireballs (Ribrianne, Kakunsa, and Rozie) on the back of a whale gazing towards the clear night sky, and Broly, Cheelai, and Lemo watching the aurora borealis on an iceberg- and they’re all in their Mer forms. And it’s not limited to other characters from the Dragon Ball universe; too. Chris Sabat (Current Dub Vegeta) and Brian Drummond (Ocean Dub Vegeta) both make cameos in a cafe, and some of the Easter eggs are like when in Bulma’s lab, you can easily see a snowglobe with the Atlantica castle in it.

Q: Do you have any sequels or spin offs planned?

A: Not really, for now. But then again, you can always and I mean always insert your OCs and maybe some other characters into the story and see the world of Waves of Freedom through their eyes. It’s totally up to you. And like the ocean itself, the possibilities are endless, with the expansive world building, the cut content, and the diversity of the cast; your ideas can reach as far as the depths of the ocean and as high as your own imagination.

I SEE THE VISION- OH MY GOD Y E S

The Kent's own the oceanside cafe, Kon whose backstory closer resembles Damian- a surprise son from an Ex of Clark whom he just gained custody off a little whole ago and is adjusting to life in Mako. But in his rebellion he ended up meeting a quiet boy who hangs out by the beach and his rambunctious sea loving friends.

Tim, the child of Running mayoral candidate Janet Drake, who seems hellbent on bringing a "modern touch" to their "quiet seaside life". in her campaign. A kid who also does competitive swimming and is out for the Olympics at this rate. But while he loves the ocean and swimming- the pressure of competition is driving him crazy so he goes on the beach to chill. And if he happens to finally get the opportunity to be nosy about "the new guy" in town- who would reject that? (Oh and he also interns at the Wayne family Aquarium where the Allen's work)

Cassie who moved out with her mom who is a teacher at the local high-school and has always had a fascination for mermaid tales. She is hell bent on the fact they are real, and insists that they take the Allen family boat to Mako Island every full moon to get a chance at "gathering evidence". So if Tims actually made a friend on his own? Of course the new kid can join- the more eyes the better

Bart whose family are renound marine biologists and work at the local aquarium, he's always been "Merfolk adjacent" just from how often he's in the water. Competes with Tim but more for fun and is a frequent visitor if the Kent Cafe. Has the keys to the aquarium as well as his uncles boat that he comendeers every month for their trip to Mako Island. Honestly he's just excited to go fishing.

Of course when all the kids sneak off and onto Mako, after catching and cooking up a lovely fish dinner (courtesy of Bart). Kon learns of Cassies mer obsession and Tims exasperation for said obsession, his "tugging on pigtails" flirting leads to him insisting they explore the island for "evidence".

Cassie is of course overjoyed, Bart is always down for an adventure, and Tim is outnumbered. SO they end up stumbling upon some weird cave- and without further adou slip into a tunnel with a giant pool in the center.

Tim starts getting nervous and says they should leave, but before he can say anything his friends are jumping into the water and dragging him along with.

Magic montage and BOOM suddenly they're merfolk and freaking the fuck out

Then arcs include Kons family life, misunderstandings of "teenage rebellion" verses "merman issues" and his harder to ignore crush on his new best friend.

Cassie learning the true consequences of her "dream come true" and dealing with hiding such a detrimental secret from her own mom.

Bart and Tim dealing with being around water 24/7 as well as the Waynes & Allens who seem hellbent on getting to the bottom to the recent "strange marine life sightings" around Mako.

But they have no other choice than to band together and hope to find a cure, or uncover the full mysteries that Mako has to offer.

Aquatello Au Masterpost

Aquatello is an au based off of @onejellyfishplease various aus and H2O: Just Add Water.

It starts out with essentially the similar pretense as H20:

The bros are fighting a water based mutant down at the beach. Donnie gets kidnapped by the mutant and separated from the rest. He wakes up in a smaller cave, with a sky light, in which the only way out is through a tide pool. Donnie escapes but is cursed by the moon. He doesn't realize this until the next day where he first transforms into aquatello mode when his brothers, April, and him go swimming.

Like H2O Donnie does transform when exposed to water, but that's where the similarities end. Over the next couple of days, it becomes apparent that his aquatello mode is becoming permanent. It becomes harder and harder for Donnie to get out of aquatello mode. It becomes harder to breathe. He has a need to be in water, that is hard to ignore, even if he does Donnie is slowly transforming. The longer the curse progresses the more aquatic he becomes both in aquatello mode and without.

While his family does know about his aquatello mode, Donnie reframes from telling his brothers that it's becoming permanent, at first. At least until he figures out what is happening.
