So, gay people in my brain. I guess I have some headcanons, though they're not all Tressa/Noa but mostly are related.

-in this Octopath with 100% more yuri, since in my mind Tressa's chapter 4 is (among) one of the first chapter 4's done, Tressa starts sending letters to Noa while on her adventure with the rest of the chapter 4's (honestly potentially even before some chapter 3's but you're not gonna get a chapter timeline out of me or anything). Though she definitely far more enjoys the few opportunities she gets to see her on the off chance they visit Grandport.

-because of this Tressa getting a crush becomes Orsterra's worsey kept secret to the rest of the travelers, because she'd only sent letters to her parents a couple of times and no one else so the sudden increase in letters immediately after her chapter 4 is telling. They don't tell her this for a while.

-except for Cyrus, "they're quite wonderful friends aren't they?", Also taking the Aroace Cyrus headcanons for myself.

-speaking of being ace, Tressa is also ace.

-actually thinking about it I think it'd be funny if Primrose's chapter 4 was right before Tressa's because it makes that bizarre "you'll find a man one day" travel banter actually funny instead of solely being completely random and confusing.

-i guess while this post is mostly about relationships and gay people, I guess I'll throw that I like H'aanit/Primrose and Therion/Alfyn even if I'm not like. Invested in them too much.

I guess that's it? Honestly I'd like some asks about what I think on things in Octopath, because I want to ramble more but I need more of a basis to talk on

Hey lentils. I mean bean.

Modern au with magic. Also it's horror.

Starts with Z'aanta out hunting the redeye and he gets turned to stone. Hägen is killed too and yadda yadda, Hägen thinks he's Z'aanta.

The redeye had been wandering around a part of a city for a while but finally made a nest in the hospital, so the hospital is blocked off while the knights ardante try to figure out a solution. Between Z'aanta getting turned to stone and the hospital getting blocked off, it's like a week so Hägen has really had some time to stew in his thoughts n theories.

Also the redeye drags all its victims to its nest so Z'aanta is in the hospital too. There's one particular room where it keeps all its little guys.

Anyway, after a while, the knights ardante conclude that the only way to kill the redeye is to demolish and explode the hospital ontop of it. They can't get the stone people out cause whenever they try, each rescue team just gets turned to stone too.

So they announce that they're demolishing the hospital and giving up on saving the stoned people. Obviously, H'aanit is livid. The night before they start the demolition, she sneaks in with Linde.

The knights ardante figure out that someone snuck in so they send Eliza to get H'aanit tf out. Also, I'll find any excuse to have more characters in fics so Ophilia is there too. Initially, she does not enter the hospital but she goes in on a whim because Eliza found evidence of second person sneaking in around the same time as H'aanit.

So! H'aanit is in the hospital looking for the nest while Eliza is following her and elsewhere, Ophilia is tracking down this mysterious second intruder, all while everyone keeps dying either because of the redeye, the other monsters that have started appearing or because of a... third thing.

As the night goes on and Hägen tries to "save himself" from being completely destroyed, he's also somewhat curious about this second party.

In one room, he finds the horrible mutilated corpse of a young man. Hägen saves him and finds out this man is called Kit! When asked why he's in the hospital at all, Kit says he's looking for something. Whatever. Hägen doesn't really care, he just wants to save his body so he leaves.

I'm not entirely sure how it'd get to this, but near the end, H'aanit, Eliza, Ophilia and Kit have been turned to stone and Hägen realizes he isn't Z'aanta. Linde is dead and they talk and he remembers he's just a doggy.

While they're talking and trying to figure out a solution, the redeye looks directly at them. It screams and asks why it can't turn them into stone.

Ok so they can't 4 minutes before death stone people cause they're not *really* dead. BUT. Graham is like. ough. horrid. And Hägen realizes Graham has a core and 4 minutes before deaths him.

This 4 minutes before death is Lyblac trying to turn Graham into a Galdera vessel so Hägen and Linde have to disrupt and mess up the ritual as much as possible. Lyblac can vaguely sense them so they've gotta do it without her noticing :3

The Yomiel stuff is kinda split between Lyblac and Redeye.

Anyway!! They do. New future has Z'aanta and Graham laughing over beers. H'aanit, Eliza, Kit and Ophilia are playing board games while Hägen and Linde are curled up on the floor fast asleep. Lyblac is rotting in prison as she deserves <3

Someone probably asked this before so I'm sorry if I missed it but who are your ot2 faves besides the obvious two and why?

Oh gosh besides the obvious it's like. Anyone's game. Probably Temenos and Castti? Temenos is just, funny and also his story is very... "sure there's no protagonist of Octopath 2" and Castti's just a badass with a great bedside manner

But I also love Osvald a lot? Like his final boss fight was a highlight of OT2 for me and he is also very funny when he's not being heartbreaking.

It's very weird usually I like the women more in a given media but it's the opposite in OT2 and I have no idea why. Probably because no woman can live up to H'aanit, that was an unrealistic expectation for women

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?

a cute headcanon i have about her is that she and tressa pick out all the different class outfits together! well, except for one. cyrus was very excited about getting the sorcerer job so primrose let him pick the outfit. she then never let cyrus pick out a class outfit ever again.

a second, less cute headcanon less having to do with her and more just having to do with her story is that the moment in chapter 3 when she was stabbed and nearly died was a moment that made the rest of the travelers stop and reconsider a lot of things. they realized that they hadn't been doing enough to make sure everyone's safe and vowed to take better care of each other.

20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?

i can't narrow it down to just one. i really truly can't. she's such a fun character and i love her interactions with so many characters

her and tressa are probably my favorite primrose dynamic, i think they're very close and have a sisterly relationship. primrose's way of teasing people is really funny to me, and tressa always has an equally funny reaction. i also think that tressa was especially broken up about what happened in primrose's ch3.

i also love primrose, ophilia, and h'aanit's dynamics. im sure they have a ship name but i personally like to call it "whatever dykey thing these three have going on"

i also like her dynamics with olberic and therion. it seems like primrose and therion have an understanding of sorts at the beginning because they're both pretty standoffish characters. although as their characters develop i do think an actual friendship forms between them. with olberic they both start out in pretty similar places, spurred into a journey of revenge due to traumatic events in their pasts. and what's interesting to me is that while olberic's goals in his journey change and he ends up gaining a new purpose in life, primrose stays true to her goals and ends up feeling empty and lost (although i do think she finds her purpose again thanks to the friends she's made along the way). also they're demo buddies!!

i think primrose would also get along with the octopath 2 cast really well. primrose would LOVE agnea. she would be so happy that her successor got to live a relatively happy life :')... i think she and throné would get along really well too, and i imagine her dynamic with temenos could be really funny.

25. What was your first impression of this character? How about now?

she's a pretty well known character, so i recognized her when i saw her on the character select screen. i was so so worried that she wasn't gonna be handled well and be reduced to just. sexy girl character. so i was very pleasantly surprised when i realized she was actually handled relatively well! which isn't to say she's handled well 100% of the time, i will say im not a fan of how she's written in some travel banters, but for the most part she's a really well written character. laura post's performance of her is fantastic, especially in her chapter 4. primrose is definitely up there in my favorites now :)

Life has a way of happening, doesn't it? I was traveling, and then Things, and then Other Things, and also meanwhile Normal Life Things, which all adds up to: phew. Anyway, I'm also making progress on ~*~the sequel~*~ but it turns out I have to remember how to write an ending? among other things. inching ever forward.

Chapter 9—mead loosens tongues and—: Cyrus, Alfyn, Tressa, and Primrose make it to Victor's Hollow on their way to Duskbarrow and the tome, only to run into Therion, much to Cyrus's delight. The entire gang (minus H'aanit) drinks and talks about their journeys. Cyrus has a late-night existential crisis on some steps, which is cut short by the sudden appearance of Therion.

some rambling commentary:

Looking back at the entire game, the emotional whiplash you get between where a character's chapter 3 ends and where they have to be to resolve their chapter 4 is kind of hilarious.

Anyway, I feel for Alfyn's journey. If I had something more of his voice, his internal mechanism, I would probably write more of him, but instead he is perennially having A Hard Time in the background.

Beyond delighted to see the thief! The sight of him makes Cyrus forget books! Ah, you dummy.

*screaming* I forgot I implied a potential threesome with Prim, H'aanit, and Alfyn. I'm not against it. But I also just thought it was funny that strong women might make Alfyn flustered.

I wrote this in the endnote, but I remember writing the first parts of Therion and Cyrus being drunk in the tavern SO EARLY but the fic just kept expanding. I can't imagine Therion lets himself get drunk and lose focus/inhibition/control, so to do it now is a sign of growth. "Getting drunk as a sign of growth" you heard it here first (drink responsibly)

And Cyrus Picking Up The Clues. And also apparently trying to become fluent in unspoken languages, like Therion's entire physical presence.

I really enjoyed the shorter jumps between Cyrus and Therion's point of view here. I'm always playing with the shape and size of scenes/vignettes/whatever. What does it do when you hold in a moment? What does it do when you cut the scene, but no time has passed? What does it do to stability when you switch characters, put a space break, chop the scene finer?

Sometimes I really wish the games engaged with the city repetition. When two characters have business in the same town, and how you see the town differently, other neighborhoods, a seedy underbelly. So yeah, commenting on Olberic needing to go to the place that Therion was, in this fic, maybe at his worst? Maybe? I don't know, I'm sleepy, you tell me.

But it is funny that Wellspring, at this stage, appears to be the Betrayal Town.

ALERT: THERION LOOSENED THE TIE FROM CYRUS'S LIL PONYTAIL. ALERT!!!

The biggest lesson Therion still needs to learn is that kissing Cyrus does not drain his knife power. He can make out with Cyrus and still face Darius.

I don't know if Cyrus has the patience of a saint for putting up with this from Therion again, or if he's just that far gone.

i had another one but thats spoilers so instead i'll say odette. she gets hit pretty hard by the sexism beam but she's still so cool and i could fix her. she just quit her job and decided to go do her own research in the cliftlands(good taste that's the second best region), her design is really good for a white woman, she's silly she's smart she's mean she's invested in her town despite being a weird hermit she's funny and she's one of like ten women in all of orsterra who wears pants including h'aanit, the butch in stillsnow, eliza, and i think that's literally it.

Ophilia: can she PLEASE be Finnish? I don't think the Russians should get to claim her and it would be awesome if she was Nordic.

Tressa: funny that you say that! Her name is Greek

Olberic: personally I'd argue that he's German because he has the most stereotypically German name you could ever imagine. It really does not get more German than Eisenberg. Germany also has mountains, especially in the very south at the foothills of the Alps.

H'aanit: personally I headcanon H'aanit as being of Norwegian or German descent. Her name is Hebrew which doesn't match her homeland too well so the European bit is based on Linde and Hägen's names. Linde is German for shield and Hägen is Swedish for meadow. There is a case to be made for the Woodlands being Bavaria but since it's so far north then I personally headcanon it as being a huge Swedish or Norwegian forest. I also like headcanoning characters as Nordic.

What nations I think modern octopath 1 characters are from

Ophilia: I associate her with a northern country. Russia or Finland?

Cyrus: Okay, I know he has a British accent, but I saw a post about Cyrus being German and I haven’t been able to get it out of my head. So I’m willing to compromise and say his parents are German and he was born in England.

Tressa: Just Italian vibes.

Olberic: Look, it’s called the highlands for a reason. Scotland, definitely.

Primrose: Uh… maybe Sunshade is Turkey? But if Atlasdam is England then maybe she’s from… Wales. Yes, Wales.

Alfyn: He gives off American vibes. No elaboration.

Therion: Uh, that’s a toughie. Many people are saying he might be from Saintsbridge, so I’ll say Canada.

H'aanit was hired by Alpione to investigate wtf is wrong with the big animal trio right. And when H'aanit is in Conning, Ochette is too. They team up and do Ochette's story together. H'aanit is a mentor to Ochette. It takes place 5 years after ot1. Also Cyrus is there too because he is married go H'aanit. They're a package deal.

Tressa and Alfyn are also exploring Solistia so they run into the gang sometimes.

Therion, Ophilia and Primrose are doing normal stuff back home. Olberic lives in Wellspring with Erhardt. Also he has the shadow like Hikari does. Halfway through the story, he decides to go to solista and he meets Ochette and H'aanit and Cyrus and Hikari and the other Solistians.

Hikari is scared of Olberic because he doesn't want to be like that.

Olberic gets possessed by his shadow multiple times a week, he has very little control because he's so sad and emotionally weak :(

Not the point though!!!!

H'aanit is like a mother to Ochette :] she beats Juvah's ass and teaches her how to get better at hunting and she kills racists. And Cyrus thinks Ochette is so so cool and asks about beastlings a lot :]
