SUMMARY: In a matter of seconds, [Y/N] is infected protecting Gyeong-su, he is reminded of their 100 day celebration, and his heart is irreparably broken when you are forced to say goodbye. PAIRINGS: han gyeong-su x genderneutral!reader TAGS/WARNINGS: established!relationship ; character death ; swearing, angst + more
1.4k words
IT HAPPENS IN A MATTER OF SECONDS, so sudden Gyeong-su can hear nothing but the sound of his own blood rushing through his ears as you stagger away from Na-yeong, eyes wide in disbelief.
The shock and horror of what she'd just done had ended the cacophony of mania, everyone standing shock-still by the revelation that Lee Na-yeong had intentionally infected you right before them.
"Na-yeon, what have you done?" Miss Park asks quietly, eyeing the frantic girl warily as Su-hyeok and Nam-ra step away from her, the formers' hands clenched at his sides.
Your hand is still bleeding from where she'd dug her nails into the skin, your blood intermingling with the blood she'd swiped at you with her dirty fucking handkerchief and On-jo lets out a soft cry when a drop of red trickles from your nose.
"If you're so sure he's not infected, you can die with him", Na-yeon had cried, moving too fast before anyone could react.
"[Y/N], c-come here, you need to sit down," Gyeong-su manages to say through the tightness in this throat, breaking away from Cheong-san's side to stagger towards you.
"We need to get you a tissue," he continues, almost in a daze.
We need to stop the bleeding. Put them in the recording booth. They're not gone yet. We can still–
Before he can reach for your hands however, you step away from him, pressing yourself against the door as you shake your head firmly at him.
There are tears gathering in the corner of your eyes, and your face flickers with a multitude of emotions before your features grow ladden with grim resignation.
"–Stop," you say roughly, and Gyeong-su just knows that you've made your decision.
Now that you've been infected, you're going to walk out the door, determined not to stay long enough for him to convince you otherwise.
Because doing so would only hurt everyone more in the end, and the last thing you'd want is for them to see you turn.
(I-sak's blood is still on On-jo's collar.)
For the first time since he met you, your boyfriend wishes you were selfish enough to stay, selfish enough to fight everyone to stay by his side the same way he would if the roles were reversed, but it's you.
[First name] [Last name].
Always doing the right thing, even when it hurts. Even when he doesn't want you to.
Because you and Gyeong-su both know he won't ask you to leave, and you're stronger than he'd like to give you credit for when you make no move towards him.
"Han, please just stay there...I don't want to hurt you," you say quietly, unflinching when he shakes his head with a scoff that sounds too much like denial. "I need to leave."
"N-no you wouldn't," he insists, mouth trembling as his chest gives way to a choked cry. "Please [Y/N], get away from the door. Let me help...please just move away from the door..."
The wounded sound he makes makes Ji-min and Hyo-ryung flinch on the other side of the room, hands held firmly between them. A sentiment shared by even the more quiet ones of the group.
The truth is, they've all lost people today–teachers, classmates, friends–but none have lost someone they cared for this way, to something as preventable as a contaminated handkerchief and the paranoia of a crazed girl.
More blood drips down your nose in quick succession then, and while it is the final nail in the coffin for everyone in the room and settles your resolve, Gyeong-su doesn't want you to go.
Not like this. Not after everything you've been through and not after you were infected protecting him from your traitorous classmate.
[Y/N], how can you be so calm? He wants to shake you. Why aren't you mad?
"Cheong-san, y-you need to get my bag...there's a box with butterflies on it in there..." Though you've addressed Cheong-san, you keep your eyes locked on your boyfriend, committing every plane and edge to memory as you tell your friend what to do.
For a moment, Gyeong-su has no idea why you're telling Cheong-san about your bag, about this small box with butterfly designs before the memory comes unbidden:
It was your 100 day anniversary, and Han had saved enough of his weekly allowance to take you out on a date after school. While most boys his age would aim to take their partner to a nice restaurant and shower them with even nicer jewellery, he could do only so much with what little money he had. Fortunately, while most people would've raised their brows at dining at a chicken restaurant (in his humble opinion, nothing could beat the exquisite taste of Cheong-san's family restaurant) and then being cart off to an Arcade to blow off the rest of their money, you were unlike most people. In fact, when Han had won you a back of Butterfly-themed plasters instead of the cute [favourite cartoon] phone charm at one of the claw machines, you had only laughed fondly as you placed your hands in his. Grinning as his cheeks grew flushed. "Hey Han Gyeong-su, don't be too serious," you teased gently, bumping his shoulder as you held the box of bandages. "I think these bandages are way better. Plus, I'll keep it in my bag in case I ever need it." Before he could apologise again, flustered by your earnest words, you tilted your head, brushing your lips against his as his flush deepened.
It's a nice memory, one of the more simpler ones, and Gyeong-su is sure you remember that day, too, because your breath catches as you move your hand to the door handle.
"It's a pack of bandages, Cheong-san. You need to cover Han's scratch, and keep him away from Na-yeong. He isn't infected, but he needs to keep his scratch covered. Please use it for the others, too."
There's a raspy quality to your voice now, more urgent now that there's black veins blooming from your injuries.
If he weren't so madly in-love with you, Gyeong-su would assume that your calm and poise was unnatural for someone on the verge of turning.
But you've always held a quiet strength to you, and this display of extreme will is only a testament to your character. He's glad the others seem to realise it too because no one makes a move to accost you, trusting you enough to know what you need to do.
Still, the finality in your plea seems to seep through the cracks in his heart, because this time he launches himself towards you more frantically than before, stopping only when Cheong-san wraps himself around his waist, holding him back from moving any closer.
"[Y/N] please, you don't have to do this! [Y/N]! [Y/N]! Cheong-san, let me go! LET ME GO!"
Desperate, your boyfriend bucks wildly in Cheong-san's arms, begging to be let go and cursing his long-time friend all in one breath as he punches uselessly at his chest.
Cheong-san has always been surprisingly strong, but when Dae-su and Su-hyeok join him–there's no way for Gyeong-san to reach you, no matter how much he tries.
"Han Gyeong-su," you rasp, your voice cutting through the loudness and chaos.
Saying his full name is enough to make Gyeong-su pause, gives you enough time to say what you've wanted to say to him since this whole mess started. "Thank-you for our time together. I...have loved every second being your partner."
For the first time since you locked eyes on him–hand frozen as he holds it out to you, one last attempt to reach you–you move your gaze around the whole room, hoping that as your eyes meet theirs, your classmates know there is no blame from you, or anger.
You do not look at Na-yeon, or Miss Park.
There is only sincere hope that they all make it out, and gratitude for everything they've done for you until now.
Wiping the tears that have fallen with your uninjured hand, you scrub at your face before nodding to yourself, turning to the door before you finally pull it open.
"Thank you for everything, guys. Please make it out of here. Really. And please take care of Gyeong-su for me..."
Behind you, Gyeong-su's anguished screams grow louder as you step out into the Zombie-infested hallway, the door sliding close with a soft click behind you.
Though it doesn't beat the sound he makes when he hears the first of your bones breaking from beyond the classroom door.

all of us are dead — han gyeong-su “collide"
contents : angst, pining, unrequited love
a/n: it's been a year since i watched aouad this is rusty lol also, i tweaked a few to match the vibes hope you don't mind.
You've always seen him. Prancing around in that childish display like a toddler who has no knowledge of the world yet. How insufferable.
Gyeong-su, who would always have the wide wolfish grin on his face as he claps everyone along the way, sending "positivity" and laughter whenever he passes by.
Gyeong-su, who would always show his heart on his sleeves. A guy who cannot lie so easily due to his fiery temper and short fused personality.
He's a real pain in the fucking ass.
"Out of my way." Your shoulders bump into Gyeong-su, the room is too small and sharing it with him makes it all the more annoying. Na-yeon obediently follows, clinging on your arm—she always does, like a helpless duckling always needing your constant affection.
You notice how her eyes pierce and narrow in disgust at the sight of the boy alone. She has always developed a sense of superiority complex over Gyeong-su, you could care less about it.
What's nagging the back of your mind is how even with the harsh and constant back and forth between you and him, that stupid 'adrenaline' that sends your blood pumping never goes away.
Na-yeon lifts her chin, nose high as she flips a lock of her hair behind, "I can't believe we are sharing a room with a welfie." She tugs on your uniform's sleeve, delicate hands holding your arm gently.
"This is beyond awful." She murmurs, eyeing the other boy whose face is put in a scowl as he eyes the two of you, the burn in his gaze is full of hate.
You let her talk, ever since you've dated Na-yeon, she's always been a rather opinionated girl who sticks deeply to her ideals and that much is admirable no matter how much hate she always seems to get.
"The hell is wrong with you two?" His friends held his arms back, teeth gritting as they tried to shut him up to not worsen the fight.
After all, you and him have created quite the reputation—both infamous for your constant rivalry towards each other.
Na-yeon cringes at his uncouth attitude, gesturing at the boy, "with how he's acting right now, it's no difference to those flesh eating creatures." She hissed, flinching when Gyeong-su turned to glare straight at her.
Apocalypse or not, things do not change.
You find your own thoughts wander in the carnage of chaos that surrounds you.
Which monster would prevail, do you wonder?
"Tch. Always up on your high horse, are you looking down at me?" He's always quick to assume things, Gyeong-su has a tight grip on the lapels of your collar with his knuckles turning white by the passing seconds.
Students were intrigued as they watch it all happen on the school grounds.
You sneered at him, a rough look replacing your usual features. "Hah, were your wits taken when you weren't looking?" Gyeong-su pulls you towards him, the proximity is so close that your foreheads touch against each other.
It could've been something romantic if not for the tension between the two of you, glares and snares sent between each other. The fight that accumulates in between is loss in the chitter chatter of the pesky nosy students that's gathered.
"Why you—!"
He's always quick to anger indeed. Pulling his head back only to slam it against yours. The tension breaking only to worsen as a fight broke out causing the horde of students watching you to cheer and whip their devices out.
"Who are you calling an idiot, you arrogant bastard!" He swipes another punch, "I'm even surprised that you know I was calling out your IQ!"
You don't know what fueled this fight in the first place, now it's a hit or be hit situation that you find yourself in. You parry only to punch him, retaliating.
Fuck.
Your head hurts and you felt like your brain shook inside your skull at his headbutt. This crazy guy drives you mad.
Gyeong-su manages to push you down, the back of your head hitting the ground as you wince, your own hands pulling him down. If you will be taken down, you'll make sure he'll suffer the same too.
Fist fly and whacks echo the place as the two of you continue to fight.
And somehow, you find yourself in the same situation as the first, but now, your own hands are gripping his collar too. "Fucking hell.." Gyeong-su curses, panting heavily as he struggles to stand up due to your hold on his clothes.
His leg slipping in exhaustion as he slips on top of you—"Fuck-!" The both of you swore at the same time, eyes wide when you felt something soft brush against your own lips.
This guy drives you mad.
"Oi! Y/n!" They attempt to stop you from entering the recording room—Na-yeon and Gyeong-su were supposed to break up the fight and for her to apologize.
The Na-yeon you know rarely yield over things like apology.
Too stubborn.
Too..
Maybe it's the realization that you have because of your observations, the way she was adamant on taking him out of the group was normal due to her dislike, but when she has swiped something off—the handkerchief that she'd always cherish and never use was whipped out.
A gift you had given her.
Shit.
Your hands open the door in a flurry, harshly grabbing your girlfriend's wrist as you face her, eyes mad and in disbelief over the course of action she decided to take.
"What the fuck Na-yeon?!" Your voice rises as you snatched the handkerchief from her hands in a fury.
The girl flinches, arm outstretched as she stares at you in fear at the strength you emit over her delicate wrist. "Y/n.." Was all the left her lips. "What are you doing?!"
"Wiping that blood off of the mop— do you plan to kill him?!"
Everyone stares in wariness and disbelief, eyes wide like saucers. Gyeong-su stepped forward with a look of caution. "..What do you mean.?" He hesitantly asked.
And perhaps it was the heart in you that cannot betray your girlfriend no matter—even with how cruel one is, someone loved them until the bitter end. Atleast that's what you try to tell yourself as you gaze upon Na-yeon who looks at you with eyes that can break your own heart.
Gaze of a desperate.
And with a crushed look, she snatches her wrist from you. "You.. I thought you're on my side."
You couldn't hear anything, a buzzing and ear deafening noise films itself inside your mind that you couldn't even comprehend why you did just that, morality? Kindness? Pity? You didn't notice when she exits the room, her cries hidden amongst the ringing in your mind.
Did you do the right thing?
You did, right?
Even if she cries.
Even if your heart breaks hearing that.
Sure she's annoying but the girl was once whom you held dear in your heart.
Am I wavering..?
"Hey-!"
You snapped out of your thoughts, eyes focusing on his that holds you grounded. Gyeong-su holds you down to reality, his hands cupping your cheeks to hold your gaze.
It looks soft, concern for you and there's something more..
The rough pad of his fingertips brushes on your skin and his face, scarred and worried looks at you—like someone important enough to be worried about.
"Hey! You okay? Snap out of it, damn it!"
There's a slight sharp pain on your cheeks though...
"Did you just slap me?"
"How else would you wake up?!" His tone was somewhat offended, and by instinct, which is the rivalry between the two of you, you took a hold of his collar. Somehow it was a big harsh therefore pushing the two of you to the ground with a soft thud.
His limbs entangled with yours as the two of you stare wide eyed with each other.
Ba-dum.
Ba-dum.
Who's heartbeat is it that's beating wildly?
"Wha-"
"Fuck!"
You pushed him down the floor, clicking your tongue as you drag a hand over your face. "Don't say a word about it!"
The door slammed shut, leaving him all alone in the recording room once again, this time, in a wild and uncomfortable tension inside him.
Gyeong-su looks at the door you exited, the image of you walking out in his mind and he could've swore he saw a faint trace of redness in your face—or maybe not, but that doesn't explain the synchrony of hearts beating with each other like a perfect melody.
".. or was that mine..?"

Cheong-san x F!Reader / Gyeong-su x Sister!Reader
Wc: 1.1k

Warnings: Na-yeon, Reader is stated as close friends with Gwi-nam, Zombies, Angst
Playlist: 0X1= LOVESONG by TXT, To you by SEVENTEEN, SHOUT OUT by ENHYPEN, Sour Grapes by LE SSERAFIM, Fine by TAEYON
______________________________________________________________
You guys were in the broadcasting room, waiting for Na-yeon to apologize to Gyeong-su for accusing him of being bitten when fighting off the zombie from earlier. Your boyfriend, Cheong-san, went up to the door of the recording room, telling Gyeong-su that it's been thirty(30) minutes. Gyeong-su, being the stubborn person he is, refused to come out and instead said that he'll stay the full hour.
"Don't you think you should apologize to Gyeong-su already?" Cheong-san asked Na-yeon. "Yeah Na-yeon. You said that you would apologize after thirty(30) minutes." Ms. Park told Na-yeon. "Wait." "What Y/n?" "Let me go with Na-yeon." "Why? She needs to apologize by herself." "I don't trust her with my brother, Na-yeon always does something to be right." "That's not a good excuse, Y/n." On-jo told you.
"Well I-" You cut yourself off at the sight of Na-yeon wiping your brothers hand with a bloodied handkerchief. It made you sick to your stomach, you felt as if your throat had closed up on you, as if to not let anything out. You yelled out, "No! No stop!" You had banged on the door to the recording room and then harshly slammed it open, making a loud noise, unknowingly attracting zombies outside of the broadcasting room.
As soon as you got in there, you harshly pushed Na-yeon to the ground, making her fall, and you immediately pulled Gyeong-su up from the chair and into your arms. As soon as you pulled him into a hug you felt as if you let go, he would die. "I'm so sorry." You repeated those three words to him as if those were the only words you knew. When you let go of him, you grabbed his hand and pulled him out of the recording room and into a chair in the broadcasting room.
The both of you stared at each other, in silence. You grabbed a chair and sat next to him and hugged him, still sobbing. Gyeong-su, still confused, comforted you and played with your hair, but your moment was interrupted by something you wish would have never happened. "Look. See? I was right after all." Na-yeon said with a smirk. Nam-ra, annoyed by her antics, slapped Na-yeon and said while glaring,
"When will you ever shut the fuck up you bitch?"
The attention went back to Gyeong-su as Cheong-san had pulled you away from your brother, behind him, to try and protect you. On-jo tried getting you farther away, but you harshly pushed her, making her fall to ground roughly and hit her head hard enough for her to get knocked out. Su-hyeok immediately rushed towards On-jo and carried her away from everyone.
You tried getting closer to Gyeong-su but unfortunately Gyeong-su did his best to walk away from everyone and was fighting to open the door. He suddenly said, "W-why are you doing that? Guys stop that you're scaring me!" You immediately fell to the ground on your knees, knowing exactly why he was saying that. He had often had realistic nightmares and you were always there to help him calm down. So much as even singing him to sleep and tucking him in, not without pressing a kiss to his forehead before going back to your room, crying with guilt.
You snapped out of it by Cheong-san gently picking you up and Gyeong-su saying, "Hey C-cheong-san, take care of her for m-me please.." Those were the last words that he had said before fully turning into a zombie, heading towards Dae-su and Wu-jin not before getting pushed to the table. Zombie Gyeong-su suddenly stopped his movements, the room going completely quiet except for the sound of you and Cheong-san whistling to the tune of Auld Lang Syne, an inside joke between the three of you.
Knowing what would happen, you quickly said to Cheong-san, "Hey babe?" "Yeah?" "I love you." Those were your last words as when Gyeong-su went to attack you or your boyfriend but Cheong-san being the clever guy he is, he moved out of the way. But only you hadn't moved out of the way at all, and went flying out of the window with Gyeong-su's teeth digging into your arms. You looked at Cheong-san as you were falling with love in your eyes, but fear was evident in your eyes as you were scared to let him go.
When you fell to the ground, zombies instantly ran to you and started biting you. You didn't scream, no. You only smiled when Cheong-san looked at you from the window, pain was the only thing you could see in his eyes. How couldn't he feel like that? After all, the love of his life, his soulmate, his ride or die, the person he saw a future with. Now, you were gone. He felt like he was stabbed everywhere, nonstop. He unconsciously started crying and he felt like he couldn't look at your now limp body.
(Back to you)
When the zombies were biting you, you felt so many emotions hit you all at once yet your throat had closed up on you, not letting you speak, nor breathe. When the zombies, including Gyeong-su, had stopped biting you, you had started thinking about everything. You still had fear of losing your boyfriend along with everyone else. But you decided that your brother was more important as it seemed you only had each other in the apocalypse, and you wanted to keep it that way.
You had no hope for your parents to be alive in this situation, nor did you care anymore. You had very little hope that one of your closest friends, Gwi-nam, was alive. After all, he was a junior in high school, and yet he still couldn't ride a bike. But you had hope because he can actually save himself and fight a lot, based on his experience.
(Back to Cheong-san and the gang)
When On-jo woke up, she instantly looked at Cheong-san, her heart dropping at the sight of how he looked. All she felt was guilt, for her best friend, for his girlfriend, and for one of his closest friends. She tried snapping him out of it, but only got pushed once again. Su-Hyeok was quick to catch On-jo before the same thing happened. Cheong-san had finally snapped out of it after hearing Na-yeon say, "I have no friends, right..?" Cheong-san got irritated and got up and pushed Na-yeon as hard as he could to the wall. "You..you murder! Y/n died because of you! All because you wanted to be right! How.. how could you.. She didn't deserve that.." He started sobbing again at the memory of your limp body.
On-jo gently took him away from everything going on and tried her best to comfort her childhood friend, as he sobbed in her arms. Cheong-san knew exactly why you did this. Why you sacrificed yourself. You did all of it for love.

So this is my account master list with the links! I will often update it so stay tuned. Yes, I know there is a lot of headcanons, but the reason is simple: this is how I introduce characters and how I personally see them, so y’all can then read my stories without any questions like “why is [character’s name] like that? It wasn’t specified in the show”. However, if you don’t want to read my headcanons or don’t agree with some of them, please don’t comment negatively about it. These are my headcanons and I understand not everyone’s gonna have the same opinion as me, but please be respectful <3.

🌿LEFT BEHIND🌿
WARNING:Crisis mentions , death mentions , gyeong su death mentions
theme:a little fluffy but angst
Gyeong su x reader
Y/n = da-hee
During That Night
Da-Hee found herself unable to find peace in her sleep. The memory of the traumatic incident she had experienced during the day was still fresh in her mind.
She got up from bed and went to a quiet and dark corner of the house, enveloped in deep sadness and longing.
Da-Hee held the guitar affectionately, feeling the strings beneath her fingers as if they were an extension of her soul. Each note, each chord, brought forth memories of the friendship and deep connection she shared with Gyeong Su.
It was a mix of joy for the time they had spent together and sorrow for the loss she had not yet fully overcome.
As she sang, Da-Hee's voice carried indescribable sadness, echoing through the corners of the empty room.
Each word held immeasurable emotional weight, evoking their best moments together and recalling the tragic transformation of Gyeong Su into a zombie.
In the instrumental solos, she allowed her emotions to be expressed through the notes, allowing herself to feel the pain, emptiness, and the void that Gyeong Su had left behind.
It was as if the music was the only truly intimate means of communication she still had with him. As the music progressed, tears streamed down Da-Hee's face, evidence of the intensity of her emotions.
She sang with a mixture of love, sadness, and guilt, as she was aware that she was moving forward in her life while Gyeong Su remained trapped in the past as the memory of a dear friend.
Despite the overwhelming pain, singing that sacred song brought them together in their own world, where the barriers of time and space were temporarily dissolved.
It was as if Da-Hee was whispering the words of comfort that both Gyeong Su and she needed to hear.
When she finally finished the song, a feeling of catharsis enveloped her. Da-Hee felt exhausted, but also relieved, as if she had found a way to honor Gyeong Su while, at the same time, releasing some of the burden she carried in her heart.
As she left the room, Da-Hee still carried the pain of losing Gyeong Su, but she felt strengthened by having shared her love for him through music.
She knew that grief would be an ever-evolving process, but music had become a tangible way to keep Gyeong Su's memory alive in her soul That night, as she nestled by Su-Hyeok's side, she found some solace in his comforting warmth and calm presence.
She knew that there were still difficult moments ahead, but she would have a partner by her side who loved and supported her, even in the depths of her pain.
Together, they would face the past, present, and future, keeping Gyeong Su's love always close to their hearts.

Lee Cheongsan X Reader - “Never. Maybe. Definitely.”
(Series!) Part: 1
(Not My GIF!)
Request?: No
Fluff/Angst/Smut?: Angst-Fluff
Readers Pronouns?:
Words: 752
Warnings/TW’s: Blood, Swearing
———————————————
“I hate him.”, you said sternly, glancing over at Lee Cheongsan, someone you could never get along with, no matter how hard you tried, stabbing the tofu on your plate with chopsticks.
“Can you guys please just at least try to start getting along? It’s so tiring being in the middle of you two always bickering.” On-jo, a mutual friend between the two of you said as she raises her hands as if they were speaking, moving them one at a time, “I hate you blah blah blah” she made one hand say, and moved the other one “Well you’re a bitch blah blah blah”, she put her hands down and continued “That’s all I hear!”, she grabbed her chopsticks and continued eating the food her dad packed for her.
You chuckle at her ridiculous example of you and Cheongsan bickering. “On-jo, I’ve told you, he just presses all of my buttons, we’ve hated each other ever since we were kids.”, you scowled thinking about him and rolled your eyes, shoving your food into your mouth in irritation, just thinking of him made your blood boil.
“Please? For me?”, On-jo looked at you desperately, wanting her two best friends to get along.
“Girl, you know that’s never gonna happen, the hatred feeling it’s mutual.”, you chuckled softly and continued eating your food as On-jo rolled her eyes, and scoffed jokingly.
All the chatter of the fellow students was all you could hear, which then turned into screaming and banging. Looking towards the glass door you see a large group of other students desperately trying to get in. “Why do they look so scared?”, On-jo looked over at you, but you shrug, just as confused as she is.
On perfect timing however, you see something that answers your lingering question. Another wave of students flooded the view to the outside, but they had blood all over them? And were biting other students?
The glass started to crack as all the weight from all the students pressed on it, and it eventually broke.
Their screaming filled the dining hall as you grabbed On-jo’s wrist and ran.
You heard her scream as she was tackled to the ground, a zombie on top of her. “GET. OFF. OF. HER”, you yelled, kicking the zombie in the ribs at the same time. However, you then see two hands come down to grab the zombie, throwing it to the side and quickly helping On-jo up, checking if she’s okay.
You rolled your eyes, “Oh don’t worry guys, ‘Mr. I’m gonna save the day’ is here, nothing to worry about now”, he scowled at you as On-jo dusted off her skirt.
“It’s not like you were doing anything, you can’t kick for shit!”, he gestured both arms towards you as his voice went higher towards the end of the sentence.
You rolled your eyes, grabbed On-jo’s wrist once again, and made a b-line towards the main part of the school.
——
You slam the door to one of the classrooms, leaning your back against it, “That was way too close”, you looked at On-jo as she nodded in agreement.
You heard banging on the door, and you quickly turned around, expecting to see a zombie, but see Gyeong-su and Su-hyeok, two friends of yours, instead. Thankfully.
You open the door for them, “Get in, quick”.
“Thank you, holy fuck, it’s crazy out there”, Gyeong-su said, leaned over with his hands on his knees, panting.
“Yeah, I had two zombies attack me at once, I was sure I was going to be, you know”, Su-hyeok dragged his thumb across his throat and made a “Kccch” sound, signifying him being killed.
“Did you see anyone that’s still human?”, you look at Su-Hyeok.
“There’s a few, but I doubt they’ll be human much longer, how does something like these even start?”, he sighs and walks over to the window of the room, looking down at the soccer field in the front yard, seeing all the zombies taking over, chasing humans around.
It’s silent for a minute, as we all think of ways some strange thing like this could have even happened, before On-jo speaks up.
On-jo looks at Su-Hyeok, “Is Cheongsan okay?”, and you give her an annoyed look, but curious too, knowing she’d be destroyed if he wasn’t.
Su-Hyeok turns around and shrugs “I haven’t seen him, I’m sorry”
Screaming can be heard from all down the hallway, then, there is a similar bang on the door, as you turn around quickly.

MY FIRST GIRL CRUSH !
PART ONE OF I'M SO IN LOVE WITH HER !
— na-yeon has always been jealous of gyeong-su, so when she saw an opportunity she took it and only then did she realize that it will always be you and him against the world
pairing! han gyeong-su x f! reader x lee na-yeon
warnings! violence, murder, zombies, spoilers if u haven't watched the episodes, death, blood
note! i just thought that what if the reason na-yeon doesn't like gyeong-su is bc she likes gyeong-su's gf 😳
sung y/n. she's na-yeon's first girl crush. ever since the start of the year but y/n is gyeong-su's girlfriend, she has walked in on the two making out in different places of the school and has heard a lot about them from other students and she hates it.
when she first pointed out gyeong-su's scratch y/n immediately defended the man saying how she saw everything and that he wasn't infected.
while gyeong-su was inside the room, na-yeon did try to talk to y/n but she was too busy worrying about gyeong-su's condition. when half an hour passed by she entered even with na-yeon trying to warn her not to go inside. while gyeong-su was happy too see his girlfriend, na-yeon was raging in jealousy and that's when she decided to put her plan into action
when gyeong-su came out of the room y/n hugged him saying how glad she was that he wasn't infected.
"babe...if i turn into one of those will you stay by my side?" gyeong-su asked out of the blue, y/n responded with a "of course! i'll even let you bite me if needed"
cheong-san playfully rolls his eyes with a scoff "oh quit flirting already! we're in a middle of a crisis right now" he huffs while su-hyeok laughs
and that's when gyeong-su's nose started to bleed, na-yeon panicked so y/n took her boyfriend's tie off and tied it around their wrists
"here! i'll be the one bitten if he turns now stop panicking!"
y/n wiped gyeong-su's nose, looking deep into his eyes with a soft smile on her face. when the man started to feel weird he warned y/n and told her to take the tie off but y/n refused to do so
while gyeong-su was walking towards the door y/n was coming along with him
"y/n...i want you to live, i'll leave by myself ok?" but y/n shook her head "no! i told you didn't i? i'll stay by your side even if you turn into them"
"y/n let's just go! he'll-" y/n cuts na-yeon off "oh shut up! he wasn't like this until you came in"
gyeong-su started to cry and begged to stop and y/n immediately knew what he was talking about, the nights where he'd call her while crying and saying that he had nightmares of cheong-san and the others making fun of him all replayed back in her head
she tried to comfort him but he stopped and the sound of bones cracking replaced his sobs, with all his strenght he forced himself to look up at his girlfriend, y/n "i love you" he says before he completely lost himself
when he turned gyeong-su immediately bit y/n, it hurts, y/n thought but she didn't fight him
she opened the door with her strenght remaining and sent a smile to the others "stay alive for us" she says and dragged gyeong-su who was still biting her neck out of the room
a bunch of zombies launched towards her and bit her neck and shoulders but y/n could care less about that she just wanted to stay with the love of her life, han gyeong-su

Auld Lang Syne || Chapter One
Pairing: Han Gyeong-Su x Reader
Summary: Class 2-2's Vice President: VP.
In which the sensible Vice-President does their best to keep their little band of survivors alive.
Tags/Warnings: reader insert, character death, swearing, canon divergence, pre-relationship, angst + more
Chapter One
Harabeoji lays on the hospital bed, unaware that the world continues without him.
You're his only visitor today. The room is cold, and his heart monitor fills the silence since you won't.
You don't know what to say, where to start.
Do you tell him that he needs to wake up? That since he fell sick, your step-grandmother used his coma as an opportunity to move everyone from your family home (sans yourself) and that her son, your half-uncle and proxy, is already making deals to have the line of succession passed to him instead?
Seoul is too far from Hyosan for you to visit him, to remind him to keep fighting and to keep vigil at his bedside, but they moved his treatment here anyway. Have already brought themselves a sky-line apartment right in the centre.
If you told him that they've left you alone, that they've left you behind, would that be enough to wake him up?
On your lap, you've brought a collection of Western comic books you've been reading to practise your English and since you need to fill the quiet somehow, you pick one out to read:
The Walking Dead, it says.
If Harabeoji finds your pick distasteful, he doesn't say.
(You wish he would).
In a class-room setting, the Vice-President is meant to ensure that there is strong communication between the Class Reps and the President. When the President is absent, it is up to them to act in their stead. To lead the class through ever-changing situations with a clear head and mature outlook.
At times, you enjoy being responsible for such tasks. The position gives you a sense of purpose on days when you feel set adrift, makes you feel more present as you tend to your responsibilities and resolve minor conflicts. Those are the days you feel like an ordinary student, responsible only for the happenings of your class.
Other times however, it's a bitter reminder. Of Harabeoji who's counting on you to do good, of the dynasty you're set to inherit in his name and of the interests you've had to sacrifice in favour of activities more appealing for Universities overseas. Like being Vice-President.
Joon-Yeong insists you should have been Class President when the positions are first announced. It's unfair Nam-Ra gets the position because of her Mother's bribery when you're not only first in class but have given up more to commit to your school's night self-learning programme and your new role.
He says it with an air of indifference as he crosses his arms, but his eyes burn behind his glasses. You think it's because losing the Presidency to a friend will make the loss hurt a little less, and because it would excuse you from not hanging out with him and the others as much as you used to.
You don't point it out to him, though. Joon-Yeong has to come to his own conclusion for things to stick. Instead, you make a show of pointing your finger right at his nose as you order him–and the others watching–to call you "VP" henceforth.
It's not much, but if you show that you're not upset with the position you're given then your friends have no grounds to be angry on your behalf. You just hope that overtime, they'll come around about the Class President you do have in the meantime.
You did in the end, hadn't you?
Speaking of your Class President, Nam-Ra always complains about the music playing on your headphones whenever she slides into her seat next to you, but it doesn't stop her from leaning over your textbook to assess your work.
You respond by turning your volume all the way up so the melody of Auld Lang Syne rattles your ears, mouth curling when she nods begrudgingly at your answers.
There isn't much she'll find to begin with, but it's routine; Nam-ra grumbles about your music in the morning as she looks over your work (way better than her rhythm techno beats, mind you), and you pretend this isn't her odd way of showing her friendship.
Silently, you offer her a piece of Poki from your half-opened bag, your own show of friendship, and she accepts the treat after a long, drawn out moment. Even though she doesn't say anything, you can see her face soften in the corner of your eye, and beyond the obvious, you're glad that she's not actually mad about your song choice for today.
"Wake me up when Ms. Park comes," you say after a moment, falling into your normal position as you cross your arms over your textbook, cushioning your head as you close your eyes. Nam-ra predictably grumbles at your command, but doesn't make a move to disturb you.
And drifting off, you hope that today is another calm day.
It's not.
Hyeon-Ju's bloodied entrance is too shocking for the day to be anything but calm.
Even when she's whisked away by Ms. Park, Su-Hyeok and a few others to the infirmary, the shock gives way to unease and the feeling settles under your skin before you can do anything about it. It makes you itch to do something, anything.
Ms. Park instructs you all to resume studying but hearing what Hyeon-Ju said and seeing her state in general, more than half the class group together to brainstorm what happened between your classmate and Mr. Lee.
Nam-Ra seems to be the only one actually studying and while it looks like you are too, with all your pens laid out and your head tilted down to your book, you're actually listening in on the chatter around you. Pulling out your stationary was just a show of solidarity, if anything.
From what you gather, no one seems to say anything that corroborates your unease or the sense of foreboding that's taken root. Dae-Su's idea is perverse, Wu-Jin is quick to slap him on the back of his head, and I-Sak returns with a troubled face before the others can chime in.
At once, everyone turns their attention towards her, even Nam-Ra, but the weight of someone's stare grows heavy on the side of your face so you turn to other side of the room instead, catching Gyeong-Su's gaze just as he snaps his head back to I-Sak.
You're sure he knows you caught him staring at you because the tips of his ears are pink, and his posture is rigid as he faces the front. If you weren't feeling so agitated, your skin still itching, you'd smile at his embarrassment.
How long will he wait before he confesses?
"–What happened? Is Hyeon-Ju okay?" Wu-Jin chimes. He kneels next to I-Sak when he asks, and you begin tapping your finger on your desk when she speaks, pulled back to the matter at hand.
When you saw Hyeon-Ju last, the poor girl was delirious as she stumbled into the room, eyes fluttering as she tried to stay awake. Her face was bloodied, her hair was matted and when she collapsed by Ms. Parks' feet, she could could barely move.
However, the Hyeon-Ju I-Sak left in the infirmary sounds like a completely different person.
Having to be restrained as she thrashed on the bed. Hissing. Biting.
She scratched Ms. Kim, I-Sak says.
There's a cold sweat running down the back of your neck the more you imagine it, different scenarios flitting through your head in quick succession, but when I-Sak mentions some weird shot Mr. Lee injected her with, the agitation you feel reaches a crescendo.
You stop tapping, deciding that you need to see things yourself.
Nam-Ra glances at you from the corner of her eye, and you hope the look you flash her doesn't belie your nerves.
It turns out though that the Class President must consider you more of a friend than you realised (the kind of friend that you cover for), because her mouth twists like she knows you're up to something but doesn't push.
"I'll find a mop to clean up the mess," you lie, grabbing your bag.
"Hurry back," is Nam-Ra's cool reply.
This is a multi-fic story.
I intend to post this story on Wattpad and Ao3 shortly. Maybe even Quotev and FF.net, too.

— snap out of it.
pairing: han gyeongsu x gn!reader
genre: angst, established relationship, fast paced.
warnings: major character death, reader death, zombies, swearing, Really angst.
request: hii, can you do gyeong-su where him and the reader are lovers but he’s a zombie and sooner or later he turns they into one also?
autor's note: i'm not the best writing angst and this one got me huRTTT (gyeongsu is one of my faves), i really hope it's enough and i got the request alright. i also recommend read listening to sparks by coldplay.
when the situation started to get chaotic, students running around, the halls crowded and people being bitten by the zombies, you and gyeongsu hide together until the class reunited. he would never let go the grip of your hand (except when he was holding on the door or windows), so later when nayeon complicated the entire situation and he convinced everyone he will be at least 1 hour isolated to guarantee the safety of you all, you really missed the heat your hands radiated together.
you were tired. of all the situation and of nayeon being a bitch about your boyfriend. the least thing you wanted to do was look at her annoying face, so you seated in front of the glass that separate you and gyeongsu. you were certain he wasn't infected, but you knew how stubborn he was in these moments.
in times, you and cheongsan caught his attention doing funny faces at gyeongsu and showing how mature he was, he would do the same thing. telling him 30 minutes already passed, gyeongsu refused getting out and moving on. you were tired, he was tired. you decide gluing to the group making a strategy for the time when you all get out of the room. you didn't realized nayeon entering the room right after you stopped paying attention to your boyfriend.
you saw nayeon and gyeongsu storming out of the room gyeongsu once was.
now you were feeling guilty, seeing your boyfriend collapsing his mind right in front of you and everyone who was with you. the blood dripped from his nose and the tears dripped from your eyes. you felt the need of doing something to stop gyeongsu from transforming into one of these things without any consciousness. but you could not think of anything.
— gyeongsu! — you shouted as his last consciousness looked at you sobbing. — i love you, please know that. i know you will... you will. — your crying got in the way as your words started to get confusing.
— y/n... — you listened to his voice. the last thing he said after completely transform.
you felt suhyeok holding you tight while your tears dripped frenetically from your eyes. gyeongsu was not him anymore, and you didn't want to live your life after knowing and experiencing this.
— please get of me. — you said with you voice low at suhyeok, letting go of him with all your strengths.
gyeongsu threw himself forward, now being just a virus. you could not let him alone, not like this, not because of that bitch. you and gyeongsu collided as you threw yourself forward too. you felt the bite on your shoulder, screaming and leading you two at the door of the room, opening and getting out.
you kept holding gyeonsu in your arms, as you felt dizzy, weak. now you two were alone in the corridor, despite the sounds made from him, you almost could not hear it, vision getting black and feeling the blood drip from your nose.
— it's okay... — you whispered, still holding gyeongsu, passing out.

“Push it! Just push it away!”
You watched as Su-hyeok struggles to keep the zombie away and push it off as it kept dangling and holding on like it had the will to live (it did but, well, y’know).
You debated on what you were about to do, but what else can you do, no one else was going to have the initiative to help.
Exhaling a breath and bracing yourself, you exclaimed, “Out of the way!” Thankfully, said boy noticed you on time to move his body away from the window, giving you the perfect aim. The bottom of your sneakers collided with the undead’s chest, giving enough force and letting it fall off the rope (hose?) and onto the ground.
Unfortunately for you, that much force has led you too far out the window. Somewhat losing control, your right leg kept moving forward and dangling itself out the window, some shards of glass from the broken window cutting your thigh. You yelped in surprise as you almost followed the zombie to the ground. Now with half of your body out you panicked even more with the pain on your upper thigh, “A little help here, for fuck’s sake!” your panicked complaints seemed to bring your friends back to reality.
Thankfully, Su-hyeok – being the closest one to the window – caught your other leg that was still inside, holding onto your sneaker with strength. You let yourself breathe for a short while before feeling your shoe slipping off (which made not only you but everyone else panic).
“Bare-su!” you scolded.
“Sorry!” he frantically apologized, grabbing a hold of your leg properly as you kept dangling by Su-hyeok’s grip and that only (not that you didn’t trust him, you did, but he was bound to get tired soon). Then the boy looked back at the others who just stood there stunned, “Stop standing there! Help me!”
That seemed to bring the rest back to reality (again, sigh) and running up next to Su-hyeok and grabbed onto your leg and slowly pulling you back in while some of the others removed the shards of glass away so you could get back in safely. When your body was finally within arm-length, Cheong-san grabbed your arm as he helped you in while the others tell you to be careful and watch out for glass.
Finally, you landed back safely inside, letting yourself breathe.
“You alright?” you heard someone ask (you couldn’t bother to see who it was).
“Yeah, sure, why not.” You answered breathlessly.
Your mind was far too occupied by the pumping adrenaline in your body to notice any injuries but luckily your friend paid attention enough, “Ah– you’re bleeding!” warned Gyeong-su.
You looked up in exhaustion, “Huh?” the boy pointed at your thigh, the fabric of your uniform split and blood seeping through it, making the already dark green color even darker. “Oh.” Was all you could say before you feel yourself blacking out.
Almost.
You felt hard slap on your face before you could fall into the unconsciousness.
“Su-hyeok!” scolded Ms. Park.
He only stared back at the teacher, “They were about to pass out!” he reasoned poorly.
“That didn’t mean you could hit them!”
The group was about to argue further when you groaned, “Bare-su-ah, I’ll kill you.”
His eyes snapped to you, “Ah, neo ttong-gae, your ass would’ve been splattered on the ground if it weren’t for me.” He cursed.
“Yeah, yeah. Sorry.” you managed to gather your energy to get yourself up—and stumbling—with the help of your friends. Then you paused, looking back at Su-hyeok, “Did you just call me a butthead?” said boy looked back at you then giving you a sarcastic smile.
Everyone seemed to get on with their own things after that, seeing as you were pretty much back to normal (after hearing the multiple curses that were exchanged between you and Su-hyeok). But of course, she was just paying attention to every detail.
“Hey,” you heard her voice coming from your far right as you were grabbing something on the table while snickering over something—probably very stupid—one of your friends had said. You looked up innocently to that skeptical, irritated, and not to mention disgusted look she always had when she’s addressing some people (you included).
“Yeah?”
“Were you bitten?” her voice surprisingly calm—yet irritating still—which still didn’t mean any good.
You couldn’t help but scoff — of course she was going to focus on that factor instead of expressing her gratitude to you for saving not just her, but everyone’s lives. No ‘thank you’ or ‘are you okay?’ (In a way that she actually cares about your well-being and not just the future of hers being at stake).
But you knew her well enough to not press onto that further and make her make it a bigger argument than it’s supposed to be (which itself was going to be pretty big considering who she was the one who started it—and, you know, typical Lee Na-yeon behavior).
“You’re welcome.” You said smugly with a forced smile playing on your lips.
She whined in annoyance, “Were you or were you not, bitten?” she insisted.
Before you could say anything, another voice came in defense for you. “Yah—can’t you be grateful for once in your life?” you turned around to see Gyeong-su already standing behind you, his eyes flared with anger (that he tried to reduce to a minimal—and failing). “They just saved your life, least you could do is show some gratitude.”
Na-yeon rolled her eyes at the boy, “I’ll show some gratitude when they don’t turn and kill us all.”
You cleared your throat, “Okay then, go ahead; time and place are welcome.” You said smugly while leaning against the table.
She rolled her eyes then pointing at your leg, just above your ankle.
You were beyond annoyed by her but you couldn’t help check what exactly it was that she saw out of curiosity.
Unfortunately, she was right.
All of your emotions quickly dissolved into one of worry and horror.
“Y/N–”
“No.”
Your voice was low, hands shaking as they raised, your eyes scanning over them as if looking for something else — nothing. Only the visible anxiety that made itself present in the form of you quivering hands.
Your feet only moving itself backwards, slow steps as everyone stared at you with worry.
It was silent for a good few moments. You can hear someone inhale sharply, almost saying something—but they were quickly cut off by you.
“I should go.” Your voice shaky but firm. Shaky at the fear that was creeping upon yourself, firmness of your truthful statement.
It was true, you were scared shitless for yourself, but you knew there was nothing else you could do but leave. You didn’t want to hurt anyone—though you probably will after you’ve completely lost your mind, but if you leave now, you would at least not have your last memory of all of your friends staring at you with fear, you will also have the least peace of mind knowing that your friends would be further away from your soon-will-be deathly grasp.
“Y/N—”
“GET AWAY FROM ME,” you snapped, tears that were pooling your eyes, dropped slowly. Looking up, you saw the one person who you’d rather have the farthest away from you right now. His eyes held sadness like your own, soft brown eyes turned weak, the liveliness and playfulness they once held turned to sorrow. Your eyes never left his, you can feel the guilt creeping up on you at the tears that slowly collected in his eyes. “I’m sorry…” you mumbled to all but him.
He wanted to say something, anything. But the thought of opening his mouth only brought a sob up his throat. He couldn’t breathe, his unsaid words were choking him, anything that comes up feels like bile. His eyes stung as he held back the waterfall that could eventually make him combust. He felt hopeless—he was hopeless. You were standing there in front of him with so much guilt in fear, he never imagined seeing you like this.
His actions moved faster than any of his words can.
The boy moved in a quick, swift motion, grabbing ahold of you in his arms before you could protest (alas, you still did) and hold onto you like you were his lifeline—and you are (or, y’know, were), as he is to you. You hated the fact that he was this close to you. He was too close. Way too close.
You were practically dying in his arms as minutes passed, you still fought his grip but he didn’t budge. He doesn’t let you go. He never wants to. Even if it’ll kill him.
He loves you. Every part of you. Even the parts that’ll eventually kill him.
But you couldn’t have that.
As said before, he was your lifeline. And you can’t have the gruesome thought that you had killed your lifeline. That was the last thing you would ever want—even if it was the first thing he would want.
Feeling the liquid metallic drip down your nose, you gathered up all the strength you had—which surprisingly increased after getting bit—and pushed him away. You wouldn’t dare look up, knowing the sight would break you.
“GET THEM OUT NOW!” yelled the pink-cardiganed girl once more. No one even had the energy to tell her to shut her trap, they were all busy processing their own emotions. No matter how many times it’d happened, how many times it will happen (God-forbid), watching one of your friends slowly lose themselves will never be easy, and it’ll never get easier.
Eyes were stained red, though yours for a whole different reason. Su-hyeok and Cheong-san took the initiative to get a grip on Gyeong-su who was ready to bolt towards you and encase you in his death-grip.
You could feel yourself shut down one by one—you felt yourself losing yourself.
Your feet manage to take slow steps backwards towards the broken window, your hands fell at your back, looking for the frame, not even bothering the sharp edges of the broken window.
No one tried to stop you—well, no one else did.
“Y/N-ah! C’mon, you’re fine, you don’t have to do anythi— LET GO OF ME,” he fought and fought to get out of the two boys’ grip, but they—well, Su-hyeok mostly—were much stronger than him. “Don’t be stupid, come on! You’re okay, why are you doing this?” his words became more choked as he begged for you to stay.
Your heart broke at every. Single. One of them.
Lowering your head as you still faced out the window, you shut your eyes tighter at the tears that pooled.
You can feel yourself turning again.
With a shaky voice and a dying heart, you ignored the begs of the person you love most—and will always love. “I’m sorry everyone, stay alive, yeah? Do it for me—or not, I’m not your boss.” You chuckled a little, “This is where we part ways; see you in our next life, I look forward to meeting you all again.” A small sad smile crept into your face for the last time before falling into your imminent death.
You heard a loud scream of anguish as you fall, sooner or later fading with everything else.

MOODBOARD | NEXT | PREVIOUS
[A DAY BEFORE THE OUTBREAK...]
roses, tulips, lilies, they usually were in every storefronts window. signaling perfectly how the season was changing soon and quickly, the flowers were now missing and/or wilted. you were going to miss seeing the bloomed flowers for a while. winter took the invitation swiftly, the wind blowing your hair away from your eyes proved that fact. the sun still shines down onto people's heads, as usual, it confidently shows it still has a job to do upon the season changing. the solid road you were walking down had green grass sprouting from between the cracks a little, a visual of a younger you playing with it while your mother was arguing on the phone with someone flashed by in your mind.
couldn't recall what it was about exactly. “y/n, you have two feet facing forward and yet somehow you seem to be walking backwards,” your father retorted to your slow walking. you snapped your head up to see he was a few feet away from you, jogging to catch up. “yeah, sorry.” you mumbled. not in the mood to argue so early into the day. especially on a weekend, the two days where you could only worry about how you would get your dad out the house.
your first thought when your father had told you he was leaving to run errands, you weren't necessarily thinking you had to be a part of it. well, it seems everything you don't expect always seems to happen to you. adding this to the list. “welcome!,” the store owner announced as you two walked in. you bowed when making eye contact and as you rose up the older woman couldn't help but send you, what only you could assume to be, a motherly smile. you gave a small smile in return, her warmth made it hard not to. “hello miss, we were wondering if you had any chamomile tea?” your father asked the lady with a high pitched tone, obviously trying to sound kinder than usual. you couldn't help the smirk on your lips when the woman quickly left her station and went to retrieve said herbs. you placed your hands on the counter and tapped your fingertips in a rhythm. “so..” you trailed off as your dad turned his head towards your direction.
“why do you need chamomile tea?” you asked while staring at the broken sign that stated no leaning on the small statues that were lined against the wall of the store. “just.” was your fathers answer. you exhaled while closing your eyes, you were used to your father not actually wanting to have normal conversations with you. in spite of that, it was still in fact draining to not have a communicative parent. and the only times he did want to speak to you, was because he needed to ridicule you for every decision you made in this life. it makes you ponder about what you must've done so awful in your past life.
you turned around to lean your back against the counter and stare out the windows with your arms over your chest, your thick green cardigan making you feel comfortable even if the atmosphere did not. looking out onto the street you see three grown women pass by, then a boy that seemed close to your age, maybe a little older, on a bicycle slowly cruises by the windows. to say he was handsome was an understatement, your mouth slightly parted as he looked into the windows of the shop you were in and looked directly at you. it wasn't a certain look he gave you, just the fact he did stare at you before disappearing past the window where you could no longer see him. making your throat dry and your heartbeat a little faster than usual. your feet led you off the counter and outside the open door to where he had disappeared to. he was crossing the street to the corner bike store, parking his bike outside and entering. you blinked before turning back to see your dad now chatting with another older lady about different tea’s. “dad, im gonna check out the-“ he waved you off, not even turning his head to spare you a glance. you shook your head from the sudden hurt and quickly jogged over to down the street to the sidewalk. your mind now focused on one thing and one thing only.
one someone, to be exact. upon entering the bicycle store you were greeted by a younger women whom you bowed to in response. you weren't sure if you fitted in with the rest of the people shopping in here. you still pretended to look at the bikes that were on display in the windows and throughout the store. looking up, you noticed a familiar tall and fit boy who was looking at bike tires that were hung up. swallowing in hopes of smoothing your vocal chords out from the dried cracks of anxiousness. you proceeded to walk slowly more and more to him, though one step came with an intrusive thought. “you see him and what are you gonna do about it?” you turned swiftly toward a wall full of chains for bicycles.
your heart began to beat harder at that. what are you going to do now? you probably seem like a stalker now, he's obviously gonna recognize you from the other shop. you need to leave, you need to leave now. “you own a bike?” a voice cut in to your own conversation. your head whipped to the side to see the said boy was now standing beside you and not where he was leaning over a few feet away prior. “uh, me?” you ask dumbly. he nodded with a smile that his eyes turn into slits, you blinked before answering, “no i don't.” oh no. “i-i mean that's why i'm here. y-ya know, to buy one.” the boy nodded slowly at your words. you weren't quite sure if he believed you or not. he then points to the chain you were once having a staring contest with, “maybe you should get the whole bike first.”
you nodded before nervously chuckling, to which a heavenly giggle escaped his throat. something that made your heart flutter at. “can i give you some advice though?” you nod quickly. he smirks at your quick reaction to his words. “don't try and get one of the trendy ones right now, they'll only go out of style as quick and usually they break down as easily.” your eyes stuck to his lips as he spoke to you. wow, he really was very handsome. you couldn't help your ears from gaining heat at the fact that he still stared at you as you did him.
“yes, i understand.” you softly responded with a starstruck face. “good.” his voice lowered. the boy looked down at your body which made you shy instantly. “also those shoes are good for bicycling, so don't even try to waste your well-earned money on some new ones.” you furrowed your brows before looking down. “ah, yes, i wasn't planning on it.” you reassured him while mentally hitting yourself for getting into your head like that when just speaking to this nice guy. “im y/n.” you stuck out your hand politely. “my names kyungho.” the name fit him perfectly you noticed.
he nodded before saying a gentle, “see you around then, y/n.” it was as if your heart punctured outwards of your chest and grabbed onto his sleeve when he was walking away, but instead you said “w-what kind of bike do you have?” you asked for the first time in a louder tone. he turned with an eye-slinting smile before responding.
the sun was finally done being confident for the day and began relaxing by 6pm. its winds and clouds taking over for the exhausted sun. “come back for dinner, y/n!” your father shouted while heading into the apartment building, you nodded before pedaling off on your new bike that you had recently bought the next day. you sold most of your old toys to nearby neighbors and finally, 19 hours later and you purchased the black version of the bike kyungho had. you pedalled off down a street, the feeling almost rejuvenating. not having a specific path you wanted to take, you just followed the sun as it set and the skies soon turned orangey-pink. you cut through wind so fast, your clothes were practically second skin.
it was different. very much different. it made you wonder as to why you never thought of purchasing one of these before. it beats walking, that's for sure.
while you skidded down many empty streets and just enjoyed the outdoors for once, you came across and intersection, you slowed down and drifted onto the sidewalk. slowly cruising towards the crosswalk. thats when you noticed it was the same intersection where suhyeok saved you from. a faint hint of your ears getting warmer made you grow angry. you knew one-hundred percent then, that you couldn't control who you liked. because even when you don't want to, that prick still somehow squirms his way into your arteries like a blood clot. an infectious disease that can only be cured if you rip your own heart out before he consumes it. shaking your head in order to clear your mind, your ears pick up laughter. you turn to see a chicken restaurant and eating inside were a few of your classmates. onjo, cheongsan, isak, and gyeongsu. they looked rather happy.. and warm.
you looked away in defeat, leaning onto your bike and rubbing your head. for once in your life you were not gonna live the same day over and over. tomorrow, you were going to change for good, that was something only you knew at the time, but soon everyone would see it too.
meanwhile, in cheongsan’s chicken, “yah, is that y/n-ah?” isak spoke as she covered her mouth from keeping chicken spewing out. everyone turned to see the young boy with his head in his hands and brushing his hair away from his face in frustration. cheongsan and gyeongsu looked back at each other before returning to their food. onjo looked at the two boys who were stuffing their faces once again, “we should invite him to eat with us,” she began and continued when everyone looked at her with surprised faces. “hes always alone. no one should be alone throughout high-school, it makes school even more unbearable. plus, isn't he woojin-ah’s friend?” she asked and immediately was met with gyeongsu shaking his head slowly in a grimace. “he tried to ..befriend him again but i think woojin just didnt wanna be apart of drama.” he explained while now picking at his food.
“drama?” onjo asked with a slight undertone. almost accusing cheongsan he had done something wrong from just answering her question. “y-yeah, you know about y/n and myunghwan..” cheongsan trailed off as onjo became angrier by the second. “y/n was just being himself, this whole town needs to grow up already. he never hurt anyone, he just had a stupid crush and wanted to tell him.” she stated with fire in her eyes. isak raised her eyebrows at her friends tangent. “do any of you know the guy?” isak carefully spoke up. everyone then proceeded to shake their head. “only y/n knows.” onjo answered while now pushing away her chicken while she tried to calm down. “and myunghwan and his goons.” gyeongsu added while looking down at his fork nonchalantly.
“that guy that snitched should go to hell.” isak stated with crossed arms and a small pout. finally, understanding y/n, when her friend put the situation in perspective for her. “yeah, i will never like a guy like that.” onjo announced seriously. cheongsan gulped and gawked at his childhood friend before continung to eat his food.
everyone was quiet, seemingly done with the conversation until gyeongsu spoke up, “if youre still a little angry, can i have that piece?”

dating you as a bet — all of us are dead
woo-jin, the type of person who take these bets too seriously, he would give you a lot of gifts, compliments you and everything someone with a crush would do. after some times, realizing you like him, you wanted to confess to him, but ha-ri, his older sister, preceded you, telling you all about the bet woo-jin did with his friends. however, you just decided to talk with him and letting him know ha-ri told you about the bet.
gwi-nam, the one that had the idea, will broke up with you after two weeks, and laugh at you while telling you, founds very funny the fact that you feel sad, will probably manipulate you again if he’s too bored.
gyeong-su, cheong-san gave him the dare, he accepted, but he always thought you were more smart and pretty than him, so he just did it without thinking you would say yes. he will for sure fall in love with you, even though he wasn’t ready for that, you were just so perfect in his eyes.
su-hyeok, dated you for like three weeks, acting like a cute and caring boyfriend, but honestly, he really felt bad, after thinking a little bit, he would tell you everything with a long apology. of course you didn’t feel good, but he gived you some snacks with the apology, so, let’s say you forgive him.

Woo-Jin didn’t know what to do anymore. A gentle breeze embraced him in its brief coolness as he looked on at Y/N, entranced. The feeling inside him was overpowering, made his heart ache every time he saw her, every time he thought of her.
“Earth to Woo-Jin?”
Woo-Jin snapped out of his reverie, seeing Y/N now looking at him, confused.
He cleared his throat. “What is it?”
He and Y/N were at the entrance of the school, going back inside after gym class, the air-conditioned building cooling after their laps around the track.
“I was going to ask you what you wanted to do during break, but I guess you must he fantasizing about today’s specials or something, because-”
Shrill screams erupted from the end of the hall.
Y/N froze, along with Woo-Jin, who looked warily at the nurse’s office. The sound came the school nurse, who charged at two students who were outside her office. The students, however, leaped out of the way just in time, making her bash into the wall. They jeered at her, their phones out as they recorded the ‘drunk’ nurse.
The sound of cracking bones came from the nurse then, who got back up with a piercing screech, and bit one of the students in the neck. He screamed out in agony, and that was all it took for Y/N and Woo-Jin to come back to their senses.
“Shit. Run!” Woo-Jin cried, grabbing Y/N’s hand and racing up the stairs.
It was chaos, students running this way and that, with no sense of direction whatsoever, their instincts screaming at them to just get away from the source of danger. Woo-Jin was more composed however, settling on getting to his and Y/N’s classrooms as fast as possible, and regroup with their classmates.
Reaching their classroom’s floor, Woo-Jin hurriedly shoved Y/N into the classroom, sliding the door shut again. The students who were already in the classroom were standing now, looking at the two of them in confusion.
Y/N stood by the door, catching her breath after such a panicked run.
“What the hell is going on?” Gyeong Su asked, peeking out their class’ windows.
“I don’t know, the nurse bit a student, and then, shit.” Woo-Jin explained, too, out of breath.
Y/N couldn’t blame him for not being able to explain all they saw. Anyone who’d had to explain themselves would sound insane; no matter how they worded it.
More shrill screams came from all over, and then the group saw it. They’re first zombie. It ran across the hall, being seen by the group through the class’ windows, its mouth bloody and its body contorted in awkward and painful angles as it ran.
Y/N placed a hand over her mouth, horrified.
Woo-Jin felt useless in this moment, useless in that he couldn’t comfort his best friend, Y/N, in such a horrific situation.
Woo-Jin sat on a swing in his apartment’s compound, alone. He enjoyed how peaceful it was, though he had to admit; it would be better to enjoy with someone else.
It felt a little eerie being alone in the playground during late noon, when the sky was now turning into a mesmerizing swirl of egg yolk, brilliant reds and hints of the once blue sky. Other kids his age were probably in their apartments now, washing up and getting ready for dinner, like what he should be doing right now.
His parents always came home late, though, so he opted to stay outside instead of being cooped up in the apartment and staring at the ceiling.
He swung on the swing gently, closing his eyes and enjoying the coolness of the last moments of the afternoon.
“Do you mind if I join you?”
Woo-Jin, startled, shot his eyes open, getting up from the swing.
A girl about his age smiled at him in confusion, and he sat back down. “Sorry, you gave me quite the scare there.”
“And um, sure, you can join me.”
Y/N sat on the swing directly beside him, also gently swinging herself forward and gazing up at the sunset before them.
“So, what’s your name?” She asked, now looking to him.
“Woo-Jin, what’s yours?”
She smiled at him. “I’m Y/N”
A weird feeling started to sprout in Woo-Jin’s stomach then, from seeing her smile like that. Her smile was really pretty.
“I live in apartment 20, third floor. Where’s yours?”
“Hey! I’m in apartment 21!” Y/N perked up.
“Wanna hang out like this everyday after school then?” Deep in his heart he hoped with every single fibre of his being that she’d say yes, and sure enough,
“I’d like that.”
Then she smiled that gorgeous, heart-stopping smile of hers, and Woo-Jin felt like he had just won in life.
From there, their friendship began to take shape, and they were inseparable all throughout their school years. And with each second they spent together, the strange ache in Woo-Jin’s heart only grew stronger.
Present day
Three days had past since their initial first encounter with the cannibalistic students of Hyosan High. Their group’s numbers had whittled down now; I-Sak, Gyeong Su, and Na Yeon, and even their teacher, Ms. Park, all lost to the horrors outside.
Now they were in the gym, stuck inside the storage room after losing a senior, who sacrificed himself for the group. Mi Jin’s cries had died down to her resting her head in her arms now, being consoled by Woo-Jin’s sister, Ha-Ri.
Woo-Jin sat beside Y/N, sneaking glances at her as she looked forward into nothingness, head on some cloud, trying to forget all that had happened these past few days.
He had tried to talk to her any chance he could, tried to reassure her throughout the hell they were in, but every time he did, he would get interrupted, either by someone coming up with a new plan, or by zombies chasing them down.
But now, as the group drifted off to rest for the day, he could finally do something to calm her nerves down.
“Y/N”
Y/N turned to Woo-Jin, mustering up the best smile she could. She was exhausted, as all of them were.
Most of the time, she was stuck in her thoughts whenever the group had decided to take a break, like right now, in the gym’s storage room.
She dreamed of what she would be doing now had the hellish situation they were all in right now happened, or, to be more specific, what she and Woo-Jin would have been doing now.
Y/N had always had feelings for Woo-Jin, she knew he didn’t feel the same, however. It was silly to think her best friend saw her as anything else other than that; a best friend. She had wanted to come clean that day, at lunch, tell him how she felt, tell him that she couldn’t take this torturous game of her one sided love for him; and that if he never wanted to speak to her again, she wouldn’t mind. It would be less painful that way.
But she never got the chance, terror lurked around every nook and cranny, and Y/N wanted to stay on her feet, on guard. And if she had the chance to rest, she would, and take the slim time period she had fantasizing of how perfect her life would be had this whole thing not happened.
And in some improbable universe, had Woo-Jin liked her back, she’d be the happiest girl on earth, she’d feel like nothing else mattered, and it would be just the two of them, like always, against the world.
Y/N didn’t know what it was with him, why of all people, she liked her best friend.
Maybe it was the way he smiled, his sharp features, how caring he was, how thoughtful he was towards others, his personality, the way he made Y/N laugh, no matter the situation without fail. Or maybe it was all of those qualities that attracted her.
He was perfect to Y/N, which was why she could never have him. It hurt her, but the truth would always remain the same; hurtful and ugly, and only nice to others somehow luckier than her.
“Y/N?”
Y/N realised she’d been staring at Woo-Jin this whole time.
Her cheeks flushed, shooting him a quick smile.
“Yeah?”
Woo-Jin’s heart flipped at seeing her smile. It never failed to woo him, no matter what.
He reached out for her hand, grabbing it in his, and placing a chaste kiss on her knuckles, all while lookin up at her. His grip remained on her hand, holding it close to him.
“I wanted to let you know, that no matter what happens, I will always protect you. If I don’t make it, I’ll make sure you will.”
Y/N, stunned at his display of affection toward her, nodded slowly, her smile growing and her cheeks growing hotter by the second.
She added ‘gentlemanly’ to the list of qualities she loved about him to her mental notes.
But then she realised the last part of what he said.
‘If I don’t make it, I’ll make sure you will.’
Hell, no.
Her smiled fell from her face, confusing Woo-Jin.
“Hey. Promise me that we’ll both make it out alive. You can’t die, I won’t let you. We have to make it out together, okay?”
Y/N squeezed his hand.
“Please.” She pleaded softly.
Woo-Jin nodded, knowing full well he was lying to her. “I promise.”
His fingers were crossed behind his back.
Woo-Jin felt like he was overflowing. The feeling of butterflies in his stomach, the way his heart did flips whenever he saw her, thoughts of her on his mind 25/8.
She was perfect, so so perfect, which was why he knew she’d never like him back.
Her smile, her laugh, her personality, her humour, her thoughtfulness, how caring she was; those were only some of the things he loved about her; her smile especially.
On any given day when he was down or gloomy, her smile could always lift his spirits, change his mood for the better, like it was magic.
Today he and Y/N had agreed to go home together, and go to their special place.
He leaned against the gate, patiently awaiting Y/N as closed his eyes.
He heard footsteps, but pretended he didn’t still closing his eyes.
“Boo!” Woo-Jin didn’t flinch.
Y/N wrapped her arms around him then, which definitely elicited a reaction out of him.
“Y-Y/N. Hi.”
“Hey dumbo. Ready to go?”
“Of course. Race you!”
“Hey!” Y/N ran after him, calling after him, annoyed the whole way.
The pair, panting, reached their apartment complex at last. Y/N shoved him playfully. “Hey! You caught me off guard, you should’ve told me first, then run off!”
Woo-Jin smirked. “I did do that though. You’re just slow.”
Y/N rolled her eyes, letting him have this one.
It was only 5.30 when they arrived home; the perfect time for them to go to their special place together.
The playground was empty, as usual, and a bit more rusted in some areas than 5 or so years ago; but it was still the same place they had met.
The place when Woo-Jin had met, and fallen in love with an angel.
The pair sat down on their swings, in the same fashion as when they first met, with Woo-Jin on the left, and Y/N on the right. They swung themselves gently on the swings, looking out at the sky, now a whirl of different colours; most notably, the colour of egg yolk.
They just sat there, enjoying the quiet, and each others presence.
“Never gets old, does it?” Woo-Jin turned to Y/N as he asked.
Y/N smiled. “No, it doesn’t.”
“I can almost remember being 12 and meeting you. It feels like I’ve gone back in time with a time machine.”
Y/N giggled, “I remember I scared you into standing up when I first talked to you.” She laughed again.
Woo-Jin felt his heart do a flip again. Her smile and laugh- all in one? Instant heart eyes toward Y/N.
He grinned at her, glancing at her hand she used to hold the swings’ chain. He sucked in a deep breath; taking the chance.
He reached for her hand, holding in his. Y/N looked to their hands, then to Woo-Jin, a confused smile on her face. Woo-Jin smiled back, and they stayed there, sat on the swings beside each other, staring off into the sunset.
Had Woo-Jin paid more attention, he would’ve noticed the prominent crimson of a blush spreading across Y/N’s face; and the giddy smile that broke through.
Present day, 3 hours later
Y/N pushed the equipment carts as hard as she could, tears streaming down her face as she fought the zombies attempts at grabbing her. The sadness in her heart ached so bad, it weakened her, but she strengthened her resolve; she’d do this, for Joon Young. She’d survive, and help all her friends survive in honour of Joon Young.
“Fuck off undead shitheads!” Y/N screamed, anger seeping through her pain as she pushed with all her might.
She heard panic ensue over where a few of her friends were trying to get the door open, hearing them say it was locked, but she didn’t care. Not now. She’d help keep the barrier strong, for them all to get out of this shithole, no matter what.
She groaned, and then she saw him.
Joon Young, through a crack in her barrier.
He was bloody, and no longer human, a crazed look in his eye. He was gone, yet he was right in front of her. Y/N screamed at the sight. The pain was too fresh to see him this soon.
“Fuck off, fuck off, fuck off! Get away from me!”
“Y/N, let’s go!”
“Stay away from me…” Her voice cracked, Joon Young’s face was everywhere now.
She had been pulled from her part of the barrier by Woo-Jin, who closed the door shut just in time for them to miss the zombies.
Woo-Jin grabbed Y/N’s shoulders, shaking her. “Y/N, keep it together! Come on, you almost died there.”
“Sorry. I don’t know what came over me.”
Woo-Jin clicked his tongue, pulling her into a tight embrace.
“You could’ve died there. Don’t do that ever again, okay?”
Y/N nodded, a few stray tears dampening Woo-Jin’s sweater vest. Being able to hold her now and comfort her made Woo-Jin want to survive even more, to help her through this messy situation. He wanted to always be there for her, but he knew it would all come to a close soon.
It always did.
But at least he did it for the person he care for most in this world,
Y/N.
4 hours later
Everyone was grabbing their weapons, all readying themselves for the fight that was about to ensue.
Y/N’s heartbeat quickened as Nam Ra told them all that they were coming.
Breathe, breathe, breathe.
Y/N cried out as she fought zombies left and right, stabbing them, and kicking them down. She was doing well, until one got dangerously close to her, almost biting her in the arm. She stabbed it in the neck, killing it, which grabbed the attention of another zombie from afar.
She lost her balance, quickly getting up, and the creature ran to her at an inhuman speed, but before it could get close to her, Woo-Jin shielded her, pinning her down to the ground.
Y/N shocked, just stared at him, as the zombie inched closer and closer.
“What are you doing? Move out of the way!”
“No. I’m keeping my promise to keep you alive.”
“You idiot, you promised me we’d both survive!”
Woo-Jin smiled a sad smile at Y/N, showing her his fingers, which were crossed.
Y/N took the chance to roll him out the way, stabbing the zombie just in time before it got to either of them. It fell to its side, now truly dead.
She took a moment to catch her breath, turning to Woo-Jin, with a glare that made his heart sink. She’d never ever glared at him like that before.
Y/N felt enraged at him, at how he was ready to kill himself for her, when she had the whole thing under control. He promised her, he never broke his promises, but now, right now when she needed him most- he decided to break her trust, and to what? Sacrifice himself and die a pointless, painful death, when she could’ve protected herself.
Remembering the promise he had made boiled her blood even more now as she looked back on it.
“Liar.”
She uttered but one word, yet it hit and stabbed into Woo-Jin’s heart like a million shards of glass, all twisting in the area they had punctured; full of seething rage at his one lie to Y/N.
Woo-Jin tried grabbing her wrist, to tell her why he did what he did- but she snatched her hand away, without a single glance back at him. He stood there, dejected, looking on as she ran to help Mi Jin with the last zombie.
Y/N,
Why can’t you understand that I love you so much, that I’d sacrifice myself for you to live on and be happy?
7 hours later
Woo-Jin felt saddened beyond belief now as they were all being questioned by the military.
He had hurt Y/N that bad, that she didn’t even want to look at him.
They were sat at the back on metal chairs, with some of the group closing their eyes to rest for a bit, and some just staring into oblivion.
He tried to make eye contact with Y/N, but she would always find a way to avoid his gaze, and now, her tactic was to console On-Jo through losing Cheong San. Her voice was sweet to On-Jo; full of love, and support, kind and soft, like how she usually talked to him.
But he knew that if he tried to talk to her now, she’d ignore him, or worse, shrug him off with a tone of thorns, and a voice uncharacteristically dismissive and full of anger.
He wanted to hold her so bad, wanted to tell her he loved her so damn much.
But she put a wall around herself, and Woo-Jin feared it would never fall.

They were all in quarantine now, in separate rooms, too. Luckily though, he managed to get a room directly next to Y/N’s.
Woo-Jin sat, slumped against the room’s wall, staring at the ceiling as he thought of his current predicament.
He and Y/N hadn’t talked for a week now, and it was driving him insane. Usually, they never went a single day without at least saying hi to the other, but now? Things were obviously very different, and Woo-Jin grew anxious in seeing how things would turn out, and wether or not they were even friends anymore.
He hated the quiet of the quarantine room, so so much. The quiet only made him think of Y/N, and thoughts of her only made his heart ache. She probably hated him, and would never trust him again.
It was a simple break of a promise, and he had broken it for her sake; because he loved her.
He loved her, so so much.
The days that their group had been fighting for their lives were some of the scariest moments Woo-Jin had ever gone through; yet, even through the moments of his one goal being that to survive, his mind somehow always drifted to Y/N, her smile, her laugh…
She reminded him of why he needed to live.
But then, the bleakness of the situation really set in once they lost so many of their friends.
Then, he reflected on himself, and how he saw things going.
He promised himself that day, that he’d never let Y/N be lost to the horrors, he promised himself, that no matter what, he would do whatever it took to save her, and to keep her alive.
Woo-Jin sighed, looking over the plain and barren room. A bed with a mediocre comfort level, a table in the corner with a stack of papers, and a chair to go along with it. This was the room he’d be stuck in for around half a year? That and he couldn’t even get out of the room to talk to his friends for another week. Y/N probably wouldn’t want to talk to him then, either.
An idea hit Woo-Jin then.
Sitting himself down on the desk,
Woo-Jin smiled. Origami was something he and Y/N loved and frequently did back a few years ago to just pass the time, or to destress after a long day. They still did it sometimes, for old time’s sake, though. Despite them hardly ever doing origami anymore, Woo-Jin made sure to know and memorise the folding of Y/N’d favourite origami model, just in case. And until now, he knew, her favourite origami model was the paper crane, graceful and beautiful, two things Woo-Jin associated with Y/N.
And now, Woo-Jin realised why the crane was Y/N’s favourite.
Some say the things we like are a physical manifestation of how we are; for instance, a person who likes football would most likely be competitive and determined, some of the two things that are needed to play the sport.
For here, in Y/N’s case, one of her favourite things is a paper crane; tied to the qualities of beauty and elegance, of which Woo-Jin saw Y/N as an embodiment of. The saying never gleamed truer than now, with an example right on the tip of his nose.
Grabbing a pen from the desk, he clicked it, and took a deep breath in.
He had so much to say to her, it would never fit on this tiny square he’d cut out. That was the state of his love for Y/N, never once decreasing in its magnitude, but rather growing, by each second of each and everyday. Another idea hit Woo-Jin then, though the ‘project’ of his would take quite a while to finish.
“Screw it.”
He began to write, the words coming out smooth, gliding on the paper like second nature to Woo-Jin as if he had been practicing and preparing for this moment for the past 5 years.
Which, he has.
ʚɞ𖥻 𐑺﹢◍ ꜝ ࣪𓈒٫
4 months. 4 months of quarantine, and they were all finally out.
Y/N breathed in the fresh air, looking around the camp for her friends. And one she definitely needed to find,
Woo-Jin.
She owed him an apology, for ignoring him, getting mad at him when he had only tried to protect her.
“Y/N?”
Y/N froze, recognising that voice.
She turned around, facing Woo-Jin, their eyes meeting. Y/N had always loved his eyes, and his smile. She loved all of him, really.
“Woo-Jin!” Y/N ran to give him a hug, and he hugged her back just as tight, grasping on to her by her waist, holding on to her like she was something so delicate, she would break lest he hold on to her. Woo-Jin pulled away, but kept his hold on Y/N by her waist, still not believing that he was really holding her now.
“Hey.” Y/N breathed, looking up at Woo-Jin, a small smile on her face.
“Hey.”
It had been so long since she and Woo-Jin had seen each other, this moment almost felt like a dream, one all too good to be true. Yet, no matter how many time she tried, Y/N could never wake from her supposed dream. This was all real. His hold on her waist, flush against his body, all real, flesh and bone.
“I have something to give you.”
Woo-Jin smiled, reaching into his pocket, and taking out a packed envelope. “Open it back in your quarters.”
Y/N nodded, graciously accepting the letter, and putting it into her own coat’s pocket.
“I have to go now, but I’ll see you later, alright?”
Inside, Y/N felt saddened at his words.
Don’t go.
Despite that, she nodded.
“Alright, stay safe.” Woo-Jin let go of Y/N, his warmth going along with him. Y/N watched as he walked away, guilt gnawing at her. She was supposed to apologise, but she was too wrapped up in his splendor, his aura, to even remember anything else.
She sighed, taking the letter out, and walking back to her quarters to open it.
Now inside, she shut the door, sitting herself on the side of her bed, and took a moment to get her bearings. Okay, it was just a letter, there was no need to panic. It’s just a letter, no need to freak out. But this was different. This letter was from Woo-Jin. God, this was all so stupid, it was a letter, for goodness sake just open it-
Y/N flipped the flap open, revealing paper cranes, flattened to fit into the letter. She smiled, paper cranes were her favourite, and Woo-Jin remembered. As she took them out, she noticed writing on the paper cranes, piquing her interest, she unfolded the first crane she took out; finding a note, addressed to her. She took out the rest of the cranes, finding them all to have writing on their bodies. “Woo-Jin, the creative.”
Unfolding them all, she checked to make sure she read them in chronological order- she didn’t want to spoil his order of his sending these to her.
Taking a deep breath, she began reading the letters.
Dear Y/N, 9/7/2022
I know you’re probably mad furious at me right now. I broke your trust, and I should’ve never done that. But I hope you understand, that what I did, was to protect you. I didn’t see a clear way out of the mess we were going through then. So many people were lost, I just… I didn’t want you to be one of them. -Woo-Jin
Dear Y/N, 18/7/2022
Sometimes I lay awake at night, thinking of you. Sometimes I feel like I can hear our classmates, now turned into stars, twinkling teasingly at me. I don’t know what I would’ve done if I had lost you. Thank you, for staying alive. -Woo-Jin
Dear Y/N, 10/8/2022
I think I’m going insane. It’s been so long since we last spoke. I miss your voice, your laugh, your smile; the way your eyes light up whenever you talk about something you like. I miss our conversations a lot. I miss you, a lot. - Woo-Jin
To Y/N, 29/8/2022
I’m trying to shake things up a little: instead of ‘dear’ I wrote ‘to’ I’m super creative like that aren’t I? Anyway, I was just thinking about our days in middle school. Remember that time you didn’t have a jacket and it was super cold out, so I gave you mine? You never gave it back, and honestly, I never cared to have it back. I thought it looked much better on you, than it did on me. I hope I helped you keep warm that day, because seeing you happy definitely warmed me up. -Woo-Jin
Dear Y/N, 6/9/2022
I keep reminiscing about our old days. I think, now, after replaying a handful back, I’ve found my favourite. It was when we went to the park, it started raining, but we didn’t have an umbrella on us, so we just decided to accept our fate and get rained on. Then you forced me to dance with you in the rain! I loved seeing the way you glowed among the relative darkness of dusk, your eyes sparkling and seeing your bright smile. Holding you close to me when we did the waltz was my favourite part of that day by far. My mum did scold me when I got home soaking wet, but I wouldn’t have changed anything from that day for the world. - Woo-Jin
To Y/N, 21/9/2022
How are you holding up? I know I won’t get an answer from you since, well, you’re not reading this during quarantine… but I’ll still ask, because I care. Anyways, I thought about this for a good few hours, and I think I’ve come up with a good list of things we need to get done once we get out of this place. First, we go to Disneyland (I’ll pay for the tickets, don’t worry. Food’s on you, though.), go stargazing in some field (you’ve been saying how you’ve been wanting to do that- so we should get it done ASAP!), and traveling! (I know you miss doing that, so we should definitely do it.) I have so many other things to talk to you about in this list of mine, so let’s chat once we’re outta here, okay love? - Woo-Jin
To Y/N, 5/10/2022
I have something to tell you.
I couldn’t sleep last night. I was up all night thinking about this.
I’m scared this’ll ruin
I’ll talk to you next time. I hope you’re well :)
-Woo-Jin
Dearest Y/N, 10/10/2022
Meet me at the back of the camp. I need to talk to you about something. -Woo-Jin
Y/N felt her cheeks warm as she put the last letter aside, staring off at the wall, giddy and anxious to see what he needed to tell her so badly.
It should’ve been obvious. It was, of course, but Y/N kept pushing it to the back of her mind as the last possible thing he would want to talk to her about. Come on, Woo-Jin, her best friend, liking her?
She’d been the one to like him when they met. He was just a super great guy who just happened to be great friends with her; she could never hope for more than that. Yet, the letters she had read from him to her told her all she needed to know of his raw feelings for her.
“What game are you playing at, Jang Woo-Jin?”
Y/N muttered, looking to her door. She couldn’t just stand him up, she had wronged him way too many times for that.
“Relax.”
With a bit of reassurance, she headed off to the back of the camp, making sure her hair was nice, and dusting off her coat as she did so.
The back of the camp was quite nicely lit up this time of day, quite unkempt, and certainly not the most romantic, but was certainly private enough for their conversation. Y/N felt butterflies flutter around her stomach as she spotted Woo-Jin, whose back was to her. Somehow, seeing him in person made her all the more nervous, but there was no going back now. She’d just have to brave herself for the next few moments. Mustering up the courage, she called for him.
“Woo-Jin?”
He turned at the call of his name, hands in his coats pockets as he smiled at Y/N. God, that jaw dropping smile of his. She smiled back, walking up to him.
It was quiet as they stared into each others eyes for a moment, the sounds of nature and the chirping of birds the only sound to be heard, until he spoke.
“Y/N, did you read my letters?”
“Yes, and I also noticed how you folded them into paper cranes, my favourites. How’d you remember?”
“I’m just amazing like that.”
They giggled for a second, before the moment turned serious, their eyes locked on to the others.
“Y/N, I have a confession to make.
You know… ever since that day I met you at the playground, some feeling kept nagging at mr whenever we saw each other. I didn’t know what it was at first… but a year or so of that same feeling I finally realised what it was.”
Y/N’s breath hitched as he stepped closer, closing the gap between them, as he placed his hands around her waist.
“Y/N L/N, I love you. So so much, it pains me. I love you, so so so much, you make me forget whatever the hell is happening, because you always take up my thoughts. You’re the light of my world; you helped me when no one else did. I love you, you are my everything.”
Y/N looked back at Woo-Jin, eyes glassy, unable to find the words to answer back at his confession.
“Please, Y/N, let me love you. Let me be yours. I’ll love and protect you, until my last breath.”
He took her hand in his, bringing it up to his lips to place a chaste kiss atop her knuckles, before bringing his hands back down to her waist.
“I love you, Woo-Jin. I love you, of course I’ll be yours.”
Woo-Jin let out a relieved laugh, giving her a big grin as he enveloped her in a bone-crushing hug. The world stopped spinning in that moment, as the two best friends, now turned lovers held on to each other. Stars paused their twinkling to watch, planets stopped spinning to admire.
Pulling away suddenly, Woo-Jin cupped her cheeks, looking into her eyes for permission, which Y/N graciously gave with the nod of her head. And he pressed his lips to hers, the both of them smiling through the kiss. Y/N held on tighter to Woo-Jin, pulling him closer to her as the kiss closed in on its end. Pulling away, the pair gasped for breath, resting their forehead on the other, giggling as they held on to each other.
“I love you.” Y/N whispered.
“I love you too.” Woo-Jin whispered back.
The universe seemed to applaud their union, as the two of them embraced each other, their connection as strong as the earth’s will to revolve around the sun.
Now it really felt like it was just the two of them, against the world. And against the world they’d go, and love each other, as they did so.
