gwengettingfit replied to your post: Is pasta delivery a thing? Cause I’m seriously...
If y'all have dominoes they deliver pasta!!! Hahaha I can’t speak to how good it is but it’s a thing !
Hahah, we do have dominoes around, but there’s none close enough to where I am to deliver... :(  I may just have to live without!

Sparking the Fire - Day 10
Specific Plan? Nope, just food
Meal Prep? I definitely try to. Last week I made my breakfasts and lunches for the week and that was amazing. Waking up in the morning and not having to throw together food for the day is great. It also helps ensure that I’m eating a proper lunch rather than a bunch of random things that feel more like snacking.
Food Struggles? Not anymore. It’s taken a while to stop associating food with guilt. But, I no longer have those issues. I know food = fuel and I feel way better for it.
How often do I eat? Three meals a day, with some snacks. Kind of depends on the day if I snack or not, and what I had for breakfast. But, snacks will usually be broccoli with hummus or a mandarin orange.
Eating out? This is an ongoing cycle in my house. My husband is active duty military and has periodic physical fitness testing. In the months prior to a test, it’s all health food and exercise. But, as soon as the test is over, so is the motivation to eat healthy. Like I would like to do all year long. At least the restaurants we eat at are pretty healthy compared to the chains.
Tracking? I used to, but tracking leads me to pretty obsessive behavior. Every once and a while I’ll log my food on myfitnesspal to see where I am. But, I find I no longer need it to know. I have the knowledge to fuel myself with delicious food and know when I'm hungry. And that’s all I really need right now.

gwengettingfit and sturdycurves at least we aren't alone in the struggle haha authenticpandas he tried to use the excuse "I was taught not to talk to strangers" because he didn't want to call the landlord about the toilet needing a repair. He told me before he also doesn't fill out forms because it Mom did them for him.

FMLS90, Week 10 Day 7:
Weekly report!
Basic Weekly:
Weight:
Didn't weigh myself this morning bc I got up at 5:30 and that was literally the last thing on my mind.
Gain / loss from last week:
xx
Gain / loss from baseline
xx
What went well during last week that I should continue?
I did service and service makes me happy so there's that. I also didn't overeat a whole lot and I ran once while I was on my trip (I meant to go more but it was sooo cold bc of the snow that I ended up only running Monday), which kinda motivated me to run again yesterday and I ran 6.21 miles which is the furthest I've ever gone outside so that was awesome. :D:D:D
What did not go well that I want to change?
Honestly like last week was a reprieve from school and work and stress and it was just about helping people, so even though I didn't necessarily eat the healthiest food or drink the most water or do as much exercise as I usually do, I think last week was everything I wanted it to be in a more important way than fitness, so I'm gonna go ahead and say that pretty much everything went well bc I wouldn't change a thing about last week. Emily's life motto: community service >>>> basically everything.
How are you doing on your healthy habits?
Last week didn't really align with my healthy habits and I'm totally ok with that bc service really isn't about what you want, it's about doing what you have to in order to help out the way you're being asked to. And if that means I'm gonna eat pb&j and an apple and a single-serving bag of doritos for lunch every day bc we're on a food budget, I'm cool with that. But in the few days I've been back my healthy habits have been pretty good. Drinking a good amount of water, have healthy snacks, etc. I'm putting a lot less sugar in my coffee when I have it, and while I'm not meal planning atm due to circumstances beyond my control, I've gotten much better at making healthy choices on the fly, so my nutrition has been pretty good. :)

gwengettingfit replied to your post:Welp, that's the last time I go walking with only...
I’ve screamed at the Nike+ app and gotten irrationally mad when my fitbit didn’t track my HR one run so my calorie burn for the day was inaccurate, but know that you still kicked ass and met your step goal regardless of what the fitbit says!!!
Thank you so much hun!  I'm kinda glad to know I'm not the only one who gets really frustrated when it happens.  But you're right - I DID kick ass, especially for having a pulled muscle & just generally not feeling it.  I still had a great walk, whether FitBit decided to track it or not.  And now I know what to do next time. :)

gwengettingfit replied to your photoset “I honestly still haven’t really figured out all the numbers that...”
Yeah honestly though the food part of Fitbit is a nightmare for me!! I usually just track what I eat and compare it against the TDEE Fitbit gives me to figure out a solid deficit
gwengettingfit replied to your post “edwards-stripey-jammies replied to your photoset “I honestly still...”
I think if you go on the Fitbit website, maybe under faq or something, it breaks down a couple calculations (it's been a couple years since I read them though so I don't really remember how solid of an explanation they give haha)
I tried looking for the calculations, but didn’t find anything solid, but maybe i just didn’t look long enough. I’ll try again.
And, yeah, if this keeps messing up bringing the calories over from MFP, I may have to rethink it and just do that. It’s a shame, tho.
Thanks!

FMLS90 day 59
Spend 5 - 10 minutes today sending some thank you letters. Showing gratitude has an amazing side effect of returning joy to you. Pick at least one of these.
Publicly recognize a few of your favorite blogs and thank them for motivating you.
John - thank you for being so awesome and coming up with this challenge, I've been having so much fun with it so far! So of course you're number one on the list of my favorite blogs. I think every single on of us can learn a lot from you and the way you stay positive and spread joy around tumblr. I really think you've made it a better place for everyone to be!
Valencia - starting something new is scary. starting yoga is scarier haha :) but when i discovered the 365 day yoga challenge i thought to myself... hm. maybe i could try this? so i reached out to you and one month later I'm convinced it was the best thing. Every single time I upload a new photo I'm floored by the nice comments, the suggestions, the support I get. So if you're thinking about starting yoga, look no further and go follow this incredible lady!
Casey - a runner and a vegan? the very first time i stumbled on your page I thought to myself... oh man, I want to be her. Like, I really, really, really want to be her. You're always so happy and positive, whenever I see your posts on tumblr it makes me smile and just... you're awesome! So if you're looking for someone who will always answer your questions, who is supportive and just incredible... yep. Look no further!
Elise - I think you were one of my first people I followed on tumblr and I haven't regretted it since. I'm floored by your awesomeness (if that a word?) and you're transition to veganism has given me the courage to do the same. whether it's your incredible hair, the food you post or to see how your day is going, i'm continually drawn back to your blog <3
Ari - okay, so I'm a relatively new follower but I fell in love with you instantly. I mean come on, that cute accent? Sold! Not to mention your title, it's freaking hilarious! But that's not why you should go and follow her folks, Arielle is incredibly kind and supportive, she's funny (doh) and seeing her progress is really inspiring!
Gemma - you are incredible. you are beautiful. you are flawless! yep, for as long as i'm on tumblr you'll always be on my list of favorite people and there's nothing you can do about it :) go follow this lovely red head and follow her on her journey to greatness, she's awesome!
Gwen - last but certainly not least, is my accountability buddy Gwen! I found you through this challenge and I'll be forever grateful, your advice is always SO ON POINT and really helpful, I can so relate to your struggles it sometimes scares me haha, and I'm just insanely happy when I see you triumph. <3

FMLS90, Week 10 Day 6:
Day 67, March 8th (Exercise) Let’s take some time today to talk about exercising at home. What experience / tips / resources do you have that you can share with others that do not have access to a gym? Do you have any go to video’s, books or magazines? Share links or offer other suggestions to each other.
I used to work out at home quite a lot, but now I prefer the gym since it's available to me and rarely work out at home unless it's yoga or I'm running. But here are some of the resources I've compiled over the years:
- One-song Workouts
If you search the tag "song workout" you get a bunch of results for one-song workouts. There's a one-song workout blog, too, but I don't like that they don't put the times on the song and instead say stuff like, "20 crunches, 15 squats...". I prefer it to be like "Squats from 0:00-0:30, jumping jacks 0:30-1:00...". You'll find both types under that tag, so whichever you prefer or a mix of the two types. If you make a playlist full of songs on the tag and save the workouts you'll have a pretty solid home workout routine. I used to do this before I had the confidence to exercise in a gym and before I started Insanity. (I liked these way more than I liked Insanity anyway, tbh.)
- Backonpointe's Blog
backonpointe is a fantastic blog that I've been following pretty much since I made this blog. She's got workouts galore on her blog and tons of other resources. So I definitely recommend giving her blog a look. :)
- The "Sally Challenge"
There's a workout challenge that has a lot of popularity on YouTube, and by no means is it a beginner's workout, but it's great to try and once you finish it once you feel awesome. It's set to the song "Flower" by Moby. So basically the chorus is made up of them saying "bring sally up, bring sally down", and every time they say up you go up, and every time they say down you go down and hold it until they start the chorus again. At rugby practice we do it with squats, but it has been making rounds as a pushup challenge as well.
Here's a video of a martial arts school doing this to pushups. Looks hard as hell.

gwengettingfit replied to your photo “Day 24 of #FG365YOGA  : Half Moon This is the hardest pose for me, I...”
This pose is my kryptonite haha my top hip always cramps up and when I try to open my arm to the ceiling, well, it's not good hahaha good luck!! May we both get there someday!!
Oh, that sucks! That must hurt like a bitch!
Mostly, I just fall over with it! Balance is not my strong suit!  My legs and arms were shaking so much doing this, but I managed to hold it pretty well - much better than ever before, I think, so YAY!  :-)

gwengettingfit replied to your post “Should I try running on the track? I have run outside once in the past...”
why not! I personally love running outside. I didn't at first, but after getting used to it, I can't run indoors anymore. It's worth a shot, who knows, you may fall in love too! (:
I will try it today! Thanks :)
