Did a little overview of what FF characters are 1:1 with GW2 characters and it’s been fun, I forgot how lovely GW looks and I missed my charas a lot.
Top to bottom row: Red/Cloudpine, Telu/Dima/ Dima again, Pangur/Kurzec
#ctxt#just putting this here and not in the tags because idk if folks wanna see ff in the gw tag#tho also I think anyone should try gw2 its a blast and there’s cool leaf people and northmen

man the flame of frenzy seems like such a 1:1 direct analogue to the law of regression. "burn away all that divides and distinguishes" vs. "regression is the pull of meaning; that all things yearn to converge."
also when ymir is talking about the golden order's flaws he calls all of it "defective and unhinged" AND says that miquella saw that his "roots [were] mired in madness."
(lying on the floor staring at the ceiling) what if the flame of frenzy IS the law of regression and it's everything marika gutted out of the order when she removed the rune of death and now it's just causality spinning around forever which is why shit's all fucked up
#the nemesis speaks#like i know people draw connections btwn the gw/ff bc like. five fingered hand. but i feel like it's left nebulous what that connection IS#and i mean if you wanted to create an eternal reign. removing the law that states all things must inevitably collapse. seems like a good be#and destined death is red. and what do you get when you mix red and gold. that's right. orange.#which is the color the FoF actually is visually idk what all this yellow bullshit is about.#....actually does the word orange appear anywhere in the game. does anyone in tlb have a word for orange#new better game theory: nobody in ER knows what oranges are#not really cooking here so much as i am throwing those lil fake wooden vegetables for kids into a pot and knocking em around#im microwaving rice over here. i'm just saying words recreationally#im very sleepy and i dont want to do the things i'm supposed to be doing so it's time to stare at item descriptions and say nonsense#you know how it is. fuck it. hit post.

Antis: “Azriel only feels lust for Elain”
…
Ok. Yeah. Sure. Exactly.
Azriel only feels lust for Elain.
…
Azriel has been a side character thus far in this series, seen and understood only through outsider eyes (Feyre, Nesta, Cassian, Rhys).
According to all his friends/family, he’s absurdly in love with Mor. Or at least he was, until he seemingly moved on
But then in ACOSF, in the ONE POV we get from Azriel…he is showing desire for only Elain.
Now, keep in mind: This is after his interactions with Mor, after his interactions with Gw*n, the hordes of women in Velaris, etc. And yet… he is only showing attraction and feelings for Elain.
If this man just wanted a quickie, you really think he’d have to go to such lengths for that? I’m betting he’s everyone in the IC’s hall pass 😭 This is not a man that needs to elaborately scheme to get laid 😭
And if this man just wanted a mate, you think he’d be chasing after the one female he KNOWS is already mated? He KNOWS she is not his mate. With that logic, wouldn’t he be looking towards anyone BUT Elain?
You can’t be out here saying “Azriel only wants a mate” and then in the same breath saying “Azriel only feels lust”. Which is it? Is he looking for only his partner in eternal-everlasting love or is he just looking for sex? Those two cannot exist at the same time for the same person in one instance.
And before you reply all indignant and huffy, I should tell you that yes, I have heard the ridiculous other explanation from antis saying “well he has a lot of issues so he goes for unavailable women because he’s not ready to be loved and deep down he knows that” 🤡
Do I need to deign that with a response? Now you’re saying “He only wants a mate but he isn’t ready for a mate so he then wants only lust with Elain”. Make it make sense. Please tell me where in his POV it says any of this, and it might help me understand how you came up with all these words. You are making assumptions, on top of assumptions. We do not know ANYTHING about this man. He has ONE POV and in it all he does is dream about Elain and have some banter with his trainee. How are y’all coming up with such a complex, deep layered backstory and user guide for Azriel when we don’t know shit about him?? We don’t even know his last name ffs. How are you out here advocating as his personal therapist??
Just read the words on the page as they are. They paint a clear enough picture.
Call it lust. Call it love. Call it attraction. Call it whatever you want - but there is something worth acknowledging between Elain and Azriel. Something important enough that SJM published an entire bonus chapter about it.
People speculated they might be a thing throughout ACOMAF-ACOFAS, but then that bonus chapter came out and clear as day you can see them so down bad for each other, they’re ready to risk it all while everyone’s still snoring upstairs. You think either of them would’ve risked that for a one-night stand 🤡🤡?
….
And do we really think if the next book was Azriel x Other Character, SJM would start it off with him fantasizing about getting on his knees for another woman? Sure the very first love interest might not be endgame for SJM… but both Az & Elain have had other LIs (Mor, Graysen, Lucien even). They are not each others first, but they are certainly each others last.
They are the only pairing currently mutually attracted to each other. They aren’t fully in love yet (that we know of), but there is something there. That’s what their book will then explore. The idea that despite fate, despite politics, despite everything against them, Az & Elain will choose each other.
But I thought that was obvious 🤷🏻♀️

Somehow I will discover super elusive and obscure connections in the lore, and then will misinterpret something as simple and plain as Goldmask's ending kghygcnh
The notions that it does make everyone equal before it and that it is opposite of Ranni's ending ARE still true! But for some reason, for the longest time, I've been reading it as giving everyone the opportunity to interpret it and gain from it in their own way! Ranni yeets the Elden Ring, and by effect the GO "infinitely far away" for the next thousand of years, so everyone is free to forge their own fate! So I thought Goldmask did the same, but minus the "remove all golden things that stemmed from GW" part. Think like, removing the preachy guy from religion that tells HOW to read the holy book, but keep the book 🤔
I did think of it from a slightly wrong angle, and it IS simpler! GO is bad because it is effected by human logic. Their biases, their subjective vision, conveniences of the timeframe, their whims and ambitions maybe.. all the things that guarantee it won't and CAN'T please everyone and be fair to everyone! The darn thing can't even be consistently unfair, ffs! Crucible having been divine before but becoming condemned later comes to mind.
The "problem" is that the principles come from an imperfect, human in all but status mind, and there is no individuality that could fit everyone. Human mind just can't think of a one shoe fits all solution, and human mind in power will always have to hurt someone or favour someone. Goldmask ending makes the thing objective for everyone, as someone's individual mind, with all their biases, flaws and treachery is removed from the picture. In Goldmask ending, GO becomes something that cannot be debated, cannot be misconstructed, cannot be doubled or challenged! It is simply how things are, without any "interpretation"!
In a way, it is more liberating than Ranni's ending! People might be freed from the influence of GW that dwelled in Elden Ring and Marika/Radagon, but they are not freed from being people. Flawed, chaotic beings, that won't know what to DO with their freedom besides inventing new ways to cripple it by themselves. Making new oppression for self and others. Perfect Order deals with the problem of people having "will weak and minds young", having the rules and principles come from a much more transcendental and objective source instead. No guarantee that truth without any interpretation is always pleasant, of course. Who can tell if "objective reality" is FAIR to everyone? Except this time, if someone gets a shorter end of the stick, it can't be blamed on corrupt person in power... This is horrifying to think about.
At the same time, it is also better world than what Miquella wanted in the end! He was opposite to Ranni in the way of striping people of their freedom "for their own sake", but Perfect Order is not forced by anyone. It is just creation of "objective reality" that can't be debated, in can be both a blessing or a curse. People have freedom, but they also have answers, so they can "calm down" if that makes sense...? There is harmony to be found, for sure. Though both Ranni and Miquella suggest that any world can only be "a thousand years voyage", so for sure EVENTUALLY someone would just become Marika/Radagon 2 🤔 Perfect Order is just a long rest before another inevitable turn of the vicious cycle of existence, but honestly, it is the best option

(kinda bonus to my latest frenzydrawings)
I find it neat that the Greater Will and the Frenzied Flame, along with their other common elements, both cannot ensure their perfect images of the world for the same reason: imperfection of their vessels. The FF is the ultimate compassion, yet all of its Lords (Vyke, Midra, even our Tarnished if we save Melina) are doomed in their lordship, because they do what they do not out of the sympathy towards the wordly sorrows, but for their individual grief and pain. The GW is the ultimate order, but its chosen (or, well, the chosen of its chosen) are all to human, driven by their own emotions, like Marika was driven by her misery all along.
So yeah, two completely different goals in question, but they fail for the same reason. The GW and the FF are truly conjoined twins, your honor.

I'm kind of surprised no one has written a Ghost Whisperer/Moonlight crossover fanfiction (if they have it isn't on FF .net or Ao3 🤷♀️
Yes ML only had 1 season but it aired right after GW in 2007-2008 on CBS so....

what do you of people who think that pointing out how problematic claude and almyra are in the fodlan games is racist?
?
You mean people who think you are racist for noticing that Claude and Almyra in general were written with the worst orientalist clichés from the early 1810s?
As a rule of thumb, I don't believe you can determine if someone is racist or not based on their opinion of fictional characters -
That being said, there's a difference between saying "I think Devdan sucks" and whatever goes down in the chamber pot, using real world rhetoric about "invasive species" and whatnot to throw shade at fictional characters you don't like.
@gascon-en-exil made a Tellius video about Devdan's uh... well, Devdan in general in Tellius and the wtf that was Devdan in a game released in the 2000s, internationally released at that - and fwiw, some youtube comments talked about minstrel shows and how Devdan reminded them of those shows so, I definitely think pointing Devdan's entire existence - down to his concept - isn't racist in itself, you're not committing robbery when you're trying to prevent one.
About Claude and Almyra in general as depicted in Fodlan...
Well, in FE16 the game basically told us that Almyrans - in the Cyril/Hilda paralogue - are people who enjoy senseless bloodbathes (they raid the border for funsies and feast and party if they're able to return home ffs!) and while they might have different values (which is not a bad thing in itself!), they are the kind of people to turn tail and flee even if it means leaving their allies die (what Claude expected Hilda to do in CF!) or their civilian randoms (Cyril was caught by Goneril forces when they raided their camp).
You can't fight anymore when you're dead, so running away isn't always the worst solution, and yet, the way it's depicted (in CF for tears, in VW to shit on Nader) in the game, it's not supposed to be something we see as good/nice/has relevance.
In Nopes Shahid mounts the greastest invasion the Locket has ever known... to show his dad that he has muhrit too and can attack the "cowards" so plz stop mopping about the son who left without writing a letter.
Aka, Almyra sends its troops to invade Fodlan... in a penis measuring contest for the throne.
Yeah.
However, everything falls apart when we play GW's second part.
Now Nader wants to bring "souvenirs" from the war, by - and it's Lorenz who tells us ffs, not Claude, but Lorenz which has all sorts of implications - pillaging the cities they will be conquering.
Claude asks his dad to give him the Almyran Navy - and by ask I mean Nader has him sign the paper while he's half asleep, a bit like what your random kid does when school asks for a parent's written authorisation, you hang the damn paper to your parent while they're doing something else so they sign without really thinking - for his personal fight in Fodlan that consists in...
Killing the CoS? Yes, but also, and more importantly, to get rid of Fodlan's "outdated" values basically by tearing apart the country/its borders.
In a nutshell, in Nopes, FE16!Hilda's racist stereotypes about Almyrans and Almyra are... confirmed.
To sum up, canonwise, Fodlan depicts Almyrans as people who love needless bloodbathes, who prey on the country they're agressing "for fun!" when it's at its lowest point to mount a serious and real invasion to 1/score points in the royal inheritence record, or 2/to effectively bring disorder/kill/remove important pillars of that country because they want to change its "values and traditions" while pillaging and massacring the land as they cross it.
My bad, it's not the 1800s rhetoric about "the orient" it's both this, and a side dose of throwing the worst tropes ever like "invading people to bring them civilisa- i mean, a new set of values".
In a way, Fodlan is worse than Tellius in that regard, because while Devdan is, hopefully, a side character you can forget to recruit, Almyra - through Claude - is a compulsory point to play through when you play the Fodlan games.
Like, the devs - graphic devs at least - really researched and designed outfits, not only based on RL cultures, but to give a distinct flair to Almyra (when they couldn't be assed to do the same for the "mainland fodlan" characters), like Claude's outfits always have a detail (at least one when it's not the barbarossa class!) to tell you that this class/character has ties to this other place, Almyra!
Surely you'd want to know what Almyra is about, right?
:')
And then you learn and wonder, Echoes didn't bother to draw specific outfits reminding the player of RL cultures gor Grieth or the Brigand Boss, so what was Fodlan thinking when they gave those outfits to Claude and Nader? What kind of associations are you supposed to make?
Are we back in the "Kaga said the land of bandits who kidnap to most likely seduce without consent ladies was inspired by Persia? What the actual fuck?" era?
In a way, depicting Almyrans as the "bloodthirsty people who pillage as they go" is, imo, as offensive as Martin's Dothrakis, I don't think you are, or anyone is, racist for pointing it out.
#anon#replies#fandom woes#let this be X'd lol#to think Devdan would be mirrored several years after his released#hell this is also why people tend to avoid making links about Hyzante in TS but those links painfully exist if you play the game#like why the fuck did you depict them with this aesthetic if it's to make them the biggest bads of the verse without any redeeming points?#it's no wonder why i was calling my aesfrost run the Zemmour run lol#sure japan has some issues with depicting other cultures when it's not the traditional 'western world' or the 'mediaval western fantasy'#and even then i mean we joke at Bandit Keith from YGO#I like Golden Sun to bits but Kimbobo was a bit uhhh#and yet they weren't depicted as superstitious morons or in any shape worse than the superstitious people of the heroes' places#Sacae was the noble savage trope#Gascon already said everything there was to be said about the Laguz in general#and now we have Almyra#and what's even more gratting is that unlike Kimbombo#Almyra is depicted in a much more negative light than the other nation who attacks and raids Fodlan that is Sreng!#Sreng has a reason to raid and some of its people are willing to try this peace thing in Sylvain's paralogue#In Almyra's case? Nada#i swear the devs for both Fodlan and TS are back in the early 2000s with their comparisons to RL places/people

The Greater Will...
To this day, I fail to see from where the narrative that the Greater Will is "controlling" anything comes from. Often I see people saying it used Marika and her family as pawns and shit...for what? Why?
Often people will say shit like, the golden Order was for the GW, and that's a goddamn lie. The Golden Order entire purpose was to worship Marika. It was created by and for her. Radagon is not a loyal hound of the GW, but of the Golden Order, that is completely unrelated to the GW (in terms of actual influence). If anything, the existence of the GW would be an afront to the GO, directly contradicting Marika's claim to godhood, as she is supposed to be the one and only god of the Golden Order(Radagon's existence also kinda contradicts this, which in turn links us directly to Goldmask and his dissapointment with the "gods").
What's more, very few people in the lands between actually know of the Greater Will; other than the demigods, only Hyetta, Bernhal and Ymir come to mind, so how would the GO ever worship or serve the GW if no one knew about it? Any other person oppossing the "order" of the world(Like Rykard) is seemingly against the Erdtree and its society.
All of Marika's crimes are very often put at the Greater Will's feet, but if you think about it, all of it is related to her trauma. For example, the treatment of the Hornsent, the Omen and the other Crucible adjacent races like the Misbegotten and the demihumans.
With the lore pieces we got, and linking it up with stuff we already knew, the Greater Will seems so much bigger than anything in that little planet, that anytime someone points at it as this scheming being I can't help but scratch my head.
It is referred as the darkness between stars, it has control over them, it's kinda implied that it created life as it is, and then with Ymir's comments you could even say it was the origin of all of the universe, by causing the Big-Bang and bringing forth reality. It might also be implied that the Primeval current is the GW, depending on how you interpret the little lore we know about it. Glinstone sorcery and faith incantantions are directly linked to it. Depending on how you take the Elden Beast's arena, those Erdtrees you see in the distance may be golden trees planted in another worlds, the Beastmen used to think their intelligence was a direct gift from the GW, the dragons were its subjects once, and the way Placi is resting at their arena may imply they are trying to contact the GW, like the fingers.
It created the Elden beast, which in turn is the Elden Ring. By Miyazaki's own words, the ER is literally the rules for the world to follow. Like gravity, life, death. Hell, the crucible of Life, with its reddish gold color may also be related, not to the GW, but to the Elden beast. It is theorized that water was brought within the meteorites that crashed on old earth, we are told the GW created life, so what if the crash landing of the EB on its star also created this primordial soup from which all the rest surged forth? Now, I'm not so sure about that last part, because it kinda contradicts with Metyr's own arrival, but I think you still can make it work somehow.
Still, the GW feels so huge and distant that I just can't picture it like the conniving and planining God so many in the fandom sees it as.
Am I saying it is a benevolent and perfect God? Nah, not at all. But it feels more like distant and eldritch being that just goes around creating life, than some asshole playing games with or against the other Gods. Because, other than the Frenzy Flame, all of them feel magnitudes weaker and smaller than the GW and the FF, seemingly limited to that planet, and also needing the Elden Ring to actually manifest their Orders...
idk, it kinda frustrates me, because this fandom has a tendency of being reaaaally rigid with how they see any character once they make up their minds (hell, Vaati's Erdtree parasite theory still gets brought up a lot, and I'm pretty sure he even admitted about being wrong with a couple of things in that one video).

and This is an E D diary, so...
About me: I like cats. I paint, draw, and write. I'm neurodivergent so excuse me if I seem odd. My special interests are tornadoes/natural disasters, ghosts, and diseases. I'm grieving so I'm extra depressed and lonely. Previously my bio said I don't SH anymore, yeah that was fucking bullshit. I don't ever post about it tho. My E D is of restrictive type, I don't binge as a habit, I lost the ability to fucking purge which I used to rely on when I was anxious about what I ate. Pronouns are they/them, if you don't respect that it's okay it's not gonna change anything lol... Oh I'm also a stoner 🍃
How I ended up here: When I was little my oldest sister would abuse me, physically and verbally. She even convinced me that I was fat when I was underweight. I started relying on food for comfort and had a short "chubby" stage at 9-10 which I quickly grew out of. I began to SH to deal with the stress of body dysmorphia and abuse, also started disordered eating as well. At 14 my parents began forcing me in and out of mental hospitals, where I was used as a guinea pig. They misdiagnosed me a ton and would have me on and off a shit ton of pills, most of the side effects being weight gain. I reached my HW at 16, I was 260lb. I quit the pills cold turkey at 17 and lost 30lb instantly. After that it was a lot of yo-yoing with my E D, I'd go to 210 to 230 a lot. Now I'm 22, early 2024 I went through the trauma of losing my cat. She was so skinny before she died, so now I'm just going to starve myself until I die.
