Winter Landscape, Gustaf Edolf Fjaestad, 1908, Minneapolis Institute of Art: Paintings
pointillist style; shades of white, blue, blue-grey, cream; snow falling; snow-covered ground with two pairs of tracks in foreground, LRQ; five snow-covered evergreen trees Gustaf Fjaestad made the Swedish winter landscape his hallmark. In hundreds of paintings, he explored the myriad effects of light upon snow. In Winter Landscape, Gustaf Fjaestad employs a personal form of Pointillism, using a pattern of dots and lines to create a snowscape of calm natural beauty. This painting is a large and important addition to the MIA’s collection of 19th and 20th century Nordic paintings, which has been steadily growing over the past five years. Size: 56 1/8 × 58 1/2 in. (142.56 × 148.59 cm) (sight) Medium: Oil on canvas

1. Saint-Severin, 1909 by Robert Delaunay
2. Winter Landscape, 1908 by Gustaf Edolf Fjaestad
3. Port-en-Bessin, 1888 by Georges Seurat
I identify with these three paintings because of the texture that is used in them. In the first one I love the greens and the blues to portray the cool tones of the church, and also the ragged texture. In the next two they both use a dotted texture that I am really drawn to and would love to use this technique in my final painting.
