Shidou when he's voted innocent again trial three and let back into society to finally successfully resurrect his wife (no matter how many others he needs to sacrifice to succeed the I can't stop that's why I want this to end king when no one will stop it for him am I right-). The funniest outcome for Milgram is the punishment for being guilty being death and the punishment for being innocent a slow death doomed to repeating the same errors over and over. Yet, at the same time it would be downright fucking hilarious if this is the biggest liar contest and if they stay innocent by the end of this Milgram just expunges their criminal record and helps them commit more crimes. Ya know because well it's not a crime by Milgram's standards and Milgram said fuck the law day one too.

Honestly sappy but this I was rewatching Lady and the Tramp 2 and this is a Yuno song to me.

I Didn't know that I Could Feel This Way

I know she's unromantic and cold but the subtle hints of affection and yearning throughout both Umbilical and Tear Drop always give me the impression that she is the romantic sort but more grounded/realistic about it.

I feel like this song while romantic has that grounded feeling to it. That suits her. Especially the line, "I never felt my heart beat so fast I'm thinking of him first and of myself last. And how happy I want him to be."

I think it fits with the repeated asking of what do you want do in Umbilical. How she's putting what she wants to do second to keep asking the other person how they'd like to proceed. It could just all be my bias since I really like this song as well. But I feel like a lot of the complexity of romance and love that Yuno's narrative explores is reduced in favor of focusing solely on the outcome of those relationships.

Instead of interrogating how much of a distance someone can have from another and still call it love. How much is professionalism or genuine affection. What's it like to be wanted but for something you never wanted to be wanted for.

"The wanted wanting the wanter- The overlap, isn’t that some sort of perfection?"

Can an overlap like that still be called perfection? It's a really mature narrative that many people have ignored because a lot of people haven't had the experience of loving someone else and having them love you but not in the same way. Wanting to feel all those things people only can when their feelings are truly in alignment not just their circumstances.

Wanting to do all those simple things,

Q.06  What’s your ideal date?

Yuno: Actually, just going to a park or something might be nice.

But knowing it's never going to happen because let's be realistic.

No one can force themselves to be someone else's ideal person or type. So it's lucky to be wanted for something even if that something is surface level and will never be as deep as one may want it to be. That unromantic mindset that tilts into romanticism again is a really tough balance that Yuno manages to put off quite well.

Which makes it really easy for me to give Yuno songs like these. Because even if the feelings didn't happen to align the love was there but the harsh reality is love can't carry everything. It was that different in mentality that made the juxtaposition between Mahiru and Yuno sooo good.
