“Teaching is the one profession that creates all other professions.”
Do you think about your childhood but end up thinking of your teachers?
If you go down memory lane to your childhood, the first thing that will come to mind is your teachers. They are the ones who taught us the meaning of everything, from the first alphabet to guiding us on what to do in our lives.
Why on 5th September?
World Teachers' Day, established by UNESCO in 1994, is celebrated globally on October 5th to recognize and appreciate the contributions of teachers to education and society. However, in India, it is celebrated on September 5th, which marks the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the first Vice President and the second President of India, a philosopher, and an esteemed educator.
Guru-Shishya Parampara
The guru-shishya parampara (teacher-student tradition) in India has a long history. For example, in the Mahabharata, Eklavya showed great respect and devotion to Guru Dronacharya by giving up his right thumb as a form of guru-dakshina (a traditional gift to the teacher), knowing that it would affect his archery skills, just because he wanted to learn archery and become his disciple. This tradition of showing respect to teachers continues even today. For instance, many classical singers hold their ears as a sign of respect when they mention their teachers or gurus.
Here are the top 10 easy Bollywood songs you can practice as a beginner music student and dedicate to your teacher:
1. Kholo Kholo - Taare Zameen Par
youtube
This uplifting song celebrates freedom and self-expression. Its motivating lyrics and lively rhythm express breaking free from limitations and letting creativity flow. Learn to play this on the guitar or watch this video to play it on Ukulele for the teacher who inspires you the most.

4. Teri Dastaan - Hichki
youtube
This emotional song, from the perspective of students giving a farewell to their teacher, is about the journey of turning dreams into reality and understanding oneself, reminding us that such transformations don't happen overnight. Learn it on the ukulele and dedicate it to the teacher who inspires you to dream big.

As we celebrate Teachers' Day, let’s remember the deep impact our teachers have had on our lives - in helping us stay creative, and curious, and gain confidence.
From heartfelt goodbyes and fun memories to inspiring us to follow our dreams, each song in this playlist is a tribute to their guidance and support. Instead of just wishing a Happy Teachers’ Day, dedicate this playlist or learn to sing your favorite song for your favorite teacher, because in the end…
“The influence of a good teacher can never be erased.”

An inspiration to some of India's greatest actors, #DilipKumar is unmatched in the craft. The Dilip Kumar characters that occupy every fan’s mind are from the films he did from the late 1940s to 1960. Dilip in Andaz, Ashok in Babul, Vijay in Jogan, Shamu in Deedar, the eponymous Devdas, Devendra/Anand in Madhumati, Ganga in Gunga Jumna—they are self-conscious, egotistic, and rebellious characters.

THE MOMENT INDIAN CINEMA 'BROKE' IN IT'S GLORIOUS RUN, & NEVER LOOKED AHEAD AGAIN. AND GENERATIONS OF SECTIONS OF INDIA THEREAFTER REJOICED! ............................................................................. - OF THE OLD PRE-’77 CBFC RULE THEY NEVER TOLD YOU OF! ............................................................................. -HOW INDIAN CINEMA ACCIDENTALLY BENEFITED FROM LICENSE RAJ IN 1ST 65 YRS OF IT'S EXISTENCE!
Did You Know- Indian Films, certainly till mid 1970s, were required to get every 3 film reels/30 mins shot by them, first cleared by the censor board, before proceeding any further! All this to avoid confrontation or drama, with censors, at time of release!
( We know this carried on till mid 1970's, by way of detailed public knowledge on how 1975's Sholay, was altered with in various ways, & on several occasions at different points in the film, by the censors, obviously only possible using the same 3-reel rule.

Such high scrutiny, makes you wonder, doesn't it, if all the brouhaha over Dilip Kumar fighting with censors to get 'violent' 'Gunga Jumna' released in 1960-61, till Nehru intervened (nonsense, as only had ~30 total demanded cuts over 16 sittings) (& Dilip too hasn't anywhere publicly commented to my knowledge on the same), was only fostered/publicized, to hide the fact that real game-changer for decadence of Hin Cin, began PERHAPS in mid 70s, as Janata Party came to power in 1977, & scrapped micro-scrutiny policy, paving way for Item/Masala Hin Cin, no longer reqd to justify anything in detail to anyone.
Beginnings of MASS-CLASS MIX (read, nonsense for both) no-holds barred drama. And dumbing down of society.
To such an extent that, groups would continue trying over the next half -century atleast, to actually take credit for bringing it about!

Remembering Kanhaiyalal, one of the finest natural actors of Hindi cinema, on his 36th death anniversary today. In the narrative of Hindi cinema’s history, Kanhaiyalal’s portrayal of the evil incarnate Sukhilala in Mother India (1957) ranks amongst the most contemptible yet memorable characters of villainy. A native of Varanasi, his full name was Kanhaiyalal Chaturvedi. He was fond of plays andcame to Mumbai to find a space on stage. He had written many plays. He acted in a couple of films too, but his big break came when Mehboob Khan was scouting for an actor to play an evil moneylender in his upcoming production Aurat (1940). Kanhaiyalal played Sukhi Lala with much aplomb and gained immediate recognition. When Mehboob Khan was to remake Aurat, he again picked Kanhaiya Lal to act as Sukkhilala, a character that came alive with his natural acting. The film was Mother India (1957). This time, Kanhaiyalal endowed Sukhi Lala with as much evil and menace as he could possibly muster the very mannerism and speech reeked of lust and greed. In a career spanning over 40 years Kanhaiyalal worked in innumerable films including Gunga Jumna (1961), Grahasti (1963), Upkar (1967), Ram aur Shyam (1967), Jeevan Mrityu (1970), Apna Desh (1972), Karmayogi (1978), Hum Paanch (1980) and Hathkadi (1982). After completing a century of roles in Hindi film industry, Kanhaiyalal passed away in Delhi on 14 August 1982, leaving behind his wife, two sons and four daughters, and hardly any property. Even the body of the celebrated artiste could not be brought to Bombay, his home.

Dilip Kumar’s 100th birth anniversary: The films that he ghost-directed – Times of India
Dilip Kumar was a born actor. But he was also an equally adept director known to have ghost-directed many of his films. The two projects that he most certainly directed from behind the scenes were Gunga Jumna and Dil Diya Dard Liya. The direction of Gunga Jumna was officially credited to Nitin Bose. An eminent director of the 1940s, Nitin Bose first worked with Dilip Kumar in Milan in 1946, an…
