Do you know of any cats fanfiction blogs? I want to find new recommended stories but I don’t know where to start looking or browsing for recs

Do you mean a blog that is specifically tailored towards CATS fanfic? That's a good question - I believe at one point we had a blog like that a few years ago, you can find it here, but it hasn't been updated in years and was mainly the work of...I think three or four authors? So not very extensive. We had another one, I swear, that was more recent back in 2019/2020 (but still not updated) but I can’t seem to find that one at the moment (maybe it was deleted - I’ll take another look around). 

If you meant more along the lines of accounts that post a lot of fanfiction, you would be looking moreso for our writer pals - I can think of a handful off the top of my head. But in that case, the recommendation would depend mainly on what kind of fanfic you are looking for; a lot of authors in this space have specific headcanon bubbles or scenario preferences that aren’t going to necessarily be to your liking, depending on how you like to read things or characters. 

I guess a couple questions then reside in what you’re looking for - What characters or pairings? Old or new style fic (that opens your choices up pretty significantly)? Do you like AUs (and what do you define as an AU)? Or maybe self-inserts? Are you pro or against a lot of OC involvement? etc. etc. Once you have a general idea, it’s easier to find recs for what you’re looking for ^_^

Have you had it carmelized?

That doesn’t make me like them any more, unfortunately. I loathe the consistency of cooked onions, I don’t like the smell and the taste of them whether raw or cooked, and, to top it off, I’ve developed a food intolerance against them over the years, so I had to stop eating them for health reasons, anyway. Which was no real loss to me, to be frank, but the intolerance part is extremely frustrating because people cannot STOP overusing them - which has probably only intensified my hatred of them.  

Me reading a menu at a restaurant like “which of these meals do have the least amount of onion in them?” And people are real shitty about it too, because it’s not a “real” food allergy. They generally refuse to accomodate me.

Usually the mark of being Hera’s son is in the strength of his powers rather than in what those powers are. He inherits his father’s abilities and when they’re strong than they should be, if he’s stronger than the children Poseidon has with his wife, he knows that’s something he can attribute to his mother. For a long time, so much of what he is can be explained away by having two godly parents. The kids at camp knows he’s not like them, that he’s a god in his own right, but they think him a minor one, a son of Poseidon and an ocean sprit, perhaps. 

He’s training with Annabeth when he discovers something else about himself. He just counts himself lucky that it only happened in front of Annabeth. 

Percy jumps to avoid an arrow and his feet don’t touch the ground. 

He hovers air, far higher than he should be, and Annabeth stares at him. 

He tries to think of something to say, some sort of excuse, and maybe he might have been able to get away with that if it was only this, if this was his first offense. 

But Annabeth has seen his every slip up, and this is the thing that makes it all click into place. 

He forces himself back on the ground, trying to think of any other goddess he can blame this one, any other one that can fly. 

There isn’t one of course. 

Zeus rules the skies. The only ones that can enter his domain have his blessing or his permission. 

Except for his wife, Hera, who holds dominion over the sky in a way that’s separate from her husband.

How is your business doing? Would you be willing to share some advice for those looking to start a soap (or other craft) business?

So 2020 was... what it was. Between world events, my pregnancy, car crash, other personal expenses and death of my cat it has been a memorable year for assorted reasons.

It also forced a change on my lifestyle and how I manage both space and time, so there are definitely lessons learned. For one, I could not handle the soap fragrances when I was pregnant because it just set my nausea off something shocking, and then the fatigue later on meant I was not churning out 1 or 2 batches a week like I’d been able to at my peak, and now that I’m fairly well the time constraints of Baby mean I’m still not able to make soap as often as I used to. Firstly one, the fragrances are not good for her, and secondly she doesn’t allow a long enough block of uninterrupted time to make the bars before they set.

Making cold process soap takes a couple of hours from start to finish, including cleanup, and you can’t really stop after you’ve added the lye or it will thicken and set before you’re ready. And finding those chunks of uninterrupted time with Baby has been increasingly impossible, so I’ve had to branch out into similar projects that have different time requirements.

Namely, that has been lip balms and bath/shower bombs. Lip balms take much less time to make, and can be interrupted at any stage and gently re-melted, plus the suppliers are the same and some of the oils are the same. The colorants would be the same if I used them. Bath & Shower bombs use the same fragrances as soap, which is one of the more expensive ingredients, so I am expanding my range based on what I already have in stick. My ultimate plan was to have little gift bundles that included a soap, bath/shower bomb and lip lamp all in complementary flavors/fragrances. Bath and shower bombs don’t ship that well though, so there is my new problem.

So, the business is basically dead in the water unless I can find a regular chunk of time to have the baby minded somewhere away from where I make soap.

But from when I was still going, one of the biggest logistical issues was storage. The cold process soap takes 6 weeks to cure before it should be used, so I have to store it in such a manner that it can continue to dry for that time, and that turned out to be stacks of shelves all up the wall. You need less storage space for things that don’t take as long to make, but you still need to store them somewhere unless you only work on commission.

It’s also important to consider where you are going to sell your product. The pandemic meant I didn’t have the face-to-face markets that I enjoyed most, and frankly going to the post office was a bit of a pain with a newborn around so it became not really worth the effort to ship everything out. Selling niche and gimicky things works better with internet sales but the postage needs some consideration, especially with the exchange rates I was pricing fairly low.

I know it’s taken ages to reply to this, but please let me emphasize just how time-poor I’ve been.

Pick up diapers was scrawled across it in black ink, and she grimaced– was it normal for a kid to poop so much? “Now that that’s over though, I need your opinion on wallpaper; Byakuya wants Admiral Seaweed for the nursery, but I was thinking something else–”

“Well, have you considered–”

“–and don’t say cats, we have quite enough of that in our lives–”

“–for your information, I was going to say kittens–”

“–just for that, I’m leaning towards puppies now–”

“– you wouldn’t. Dogs?! And I’m hurt that you would dismiss my opinion so quickly. As godfather, I think I should have a say in how–”

the only thing I liked about MI3 was the glimpse of Ethan’s non-spy life (the idea of him being a cryptid fiancé is fun) and the decent hurt/comfort at the end lol. I think one may also say that MI3 slightly respects women more than MI2

the first ten minutes and the last 20 minutes are the only good parts of MI3

except for the 20 seconds where Tom Fucking Cruise breaks a car with his body, that part is the best part of the fucking movie

it really is like Benji saves that movie tbh. his first appearance is dogshit and makes me want to spend an entire overseas flight kicking the back of JJA's chair. BUT the moment ethan calls benji in shanghai? the rest of the movie is good! not perfect but it's fucking solid! that running stunt is truly impressive and the entire part where ethan dies, that's great! its just the rest that makes me batshit. also i cannot forgive that ethan has two new teammates for the movie and ONE OF THEM IS LITERALLY NEVER NAMED IN THE DIALOGUE. EVER. god, fuck MI3.

also MI2 and Respecting Women is fucking valid. i was almost going to argue that Ethan respects Nyah more than the rest of the movie but even when he's doing good things like being rightly fuckign concerned for her safety, he's still a dick about it. so no, it sucks, and fuck robert towne. and TC, why did you bring him back when he almost tanked MI1? Chinatown wasn't THAT good, bro.

i think it might still be more watchable than MI3 tho. MI3 doesn't respect women either. and it should since michelle monaghan saved that fucking movie.

Maybe a better point: read the Bronte sisters, they’re good ;) If you want a tv show to scratch that itch, Netflix’s Bridgerton is a good (if flawed) similar piece of media. It’s got pride and prejudice vibes. Not a perfect show, but an enjoyable one 

Honestly, I’m going to out myself as a complete outlier here, but the only Brontë I ever really enjoyed reading is “The Tenant of Wildfell Hall”, which is a book I think a lot of people aren’t even aware exists. Otherwise, I find them to be much more work than Austen (and others), which is simply such a JOY to read you forget that you’re reading a book that’s 200 years old.

As for Bridgerton, I was actually really excited about it for a hot second, and then I heard about the many sex scenes, and that just... thank you, I’m good.

I know it sounds hypocritical since I sometimes write sexy scenes in my own fics, but as a general rule, if a show or a film contains more than one sex scene, it’s very likely I’m not going to enjoy it. And as far as I can judge, that is also precisely where a lot of the criticism comes from, so yeah. I’ll sit that one out. Sadly.

(The difference is that when I write the scenes, I can decide how I want to write them. Also I enjoy written smut more than visual one. I blame the asexuality on that one.)

Ed doesn’t tell anyone in the military about his magic because it’s bullshit. 

Alchemy makes sense. Alchemy he understands. It’s science and quantifiable and understandable. 

He hates it. He loves his mother but he hates that he inherited this part of her, the part that itches under his skin does things science can’t explain. It makes learning alchemy harder, his magic always jumping forward, trying to skip all the necessary steps and do what he wants done, but not like how he wants it done.
