Thinking abt hawmitch again and like...the fact that in that split second of Rashoumon being commanded to hit Nathaniel...in that split second Margaret makes a choice (wether concious or subconscious) between being alive to keep fighting for her family, and being extremely debilitated/dead so that Nathaniel is protected/may live...basically ranking him next to her family in importance....all for someone who isnt "worthy enough to polish my shoes"...okay girl okay 🥲

25. random facts

Alinora Mynerva

doesn’t know how to cook. at least, not well. she knows how to roast things over a fire and how to boil oats, but that’s the extent of it. it was never something she was taught, or saw the need to learn how to do.

used to have tea and play chess with the Swan’s grandmaster about once a week. he thought it was a good idea for them to get to know each other outside of work. neither of them ever did much talking, though.

hardly eats anything other than fruit, and it drives the people around her crazy. “don’t you want to eat something else?” they ask politely, a touch desperately. “nope. i’m fine.” and then the other person goes through all five stages of grief. 

broke a boy’s nose on her first day of training & had to walk him to the nurse. said boy end up getting a crush on her that she. never. noticed. i think i’ve said this one before but i think it’s funny, so have it again.

there was a solar elf who lead one of Swans guildposts down south who tried to recruit Alinora every time she visited Mharani. Alinora thought it was very amusing, but her fellow apprentices always got really upset about it. 

Elaena

out of all her siblings thus far, Elaena is the only one who can shift into a bird. the rest of them seem stuck with various breeds of dogs and cats. (ranging from the small domesticated kind to types you wouldn’t want to meet out in the wild.) she’s a little smug over it.

loves her father more than anything in the world, & always does whatever she can to make his life easier/help him out. those around them would also say that Elaena is his favorite child, so obviously the affection is mutual.

really enjoys human food and before Kai’os did his thing, used to make trips to all the different countries to try specialized dishes. she doesn’t partake much now, though, since she doesn’t need it & knows the others do.

has a wicked, if morbid, sense of humor. it doesn’t show up much--at least not lately--but when it does... well. it cracks Elaena up like nothing else. which is all that matters, in her opinion.

her favorite food is pomegranates. 

Lyr Inerra

in his early teens, Lyr had the bright idea to go challenge a nesting gryphon. he didn’t know it was nesting at the time, of course, and quickly paid for his ignorance. he did brag to Tali about the scar later.

famous for doing stupid dares, including jumping out of trees (and breaking his leg in the process) as well as eating dirt. and, one time, a worm. as he got older he started only doing dares if there was payment involved.

always had various scrapes and bruises growing up, and while he’s better protected now, will frequently still find them scattered across his body.

broke numerous wooden swords by i) breaking them in ‘sparring’; ii) lighting them on fire; iii) using them as a walking stick and leaning on them too hard; iv) and one memorable time, dropping it off the side of the Illuminaran mountain. 

Talitha taught him to dance, because “if she had to learn, so did he.” their lessons usually ended up with one or both of them collapsed in a heap on the floor, though. 

Ava Inerra

she first started putting flowers in her hair when she was eight. after that, she never stopped. Lyr tries to tell people that one of those flowers is still the original. Ava lets him, but unfortunately, it isn’t the truth.

once had to cut her hair really short after an unfortunate accident involving mud & honey. it was very cute on her but she hated every minute of it, and cried while it was being cut.

once made a flower crown for every member of the tribe, and almost all of them wore it dutifully.

used to make up songs to sing while she tended whatever garden patch she was growing at their current campsite. she always liked to leave behind trees or flowers where they camped, as a sort of thank you to the earth.

nursed multiple animals back to health but kept none of them, though she did have a bluebird that followed her around for a while. 

Talitha Jade

won her first ship after defeating a pirate captain in a duel. twice. the second time... he didn’t make it.

has gone through several crew members. several. mostly because they didn’t like that she doesn’t engage in “traditional” pirate acts. 

has absolutely flirted with and had relations with merfolk. she’s on decent terms with most of them.

has had to be talked out of buying a parrot. she wants one because “its like a badge of office for pirate captains!” people have to remind her that they’re in danger too often. (Aishlynn also doesn’t think she could keep it alive.)

has a place in her room where she can hang upside down, because it “helps her think.” 

Aishlynn Mynerva

when she first met Talitha, her first thought was, “finally, i’m not the only competent one around here.” she quickly retracted that thought, and then had to think it again, but more begrudgingly this time. 

was actually in Mynera at the same time as Alinora was, though neither of them knew it. if she had been a tad bit later, or if Alinora had come back home earlier, they might have run into each other.

her most prized possession is her father’s signet ring. her mother gave it to her not long after she was claimed as a Slaeyr, so she would always have a piece of home with her. 

when she left Mynera she also left behind her da’lia, as a way of rejecting her birth culture. she came to regret that as she got older, but she never did go back for him, despite meaning to.

Aishlynn has only ever met two people she can just... be around. without trying to impress them, constantly. of those two people, one of them died at the start of the war. the other is Asa.

//MOPS has guildposts scattered all over. Either on the road or in towns. However, a member of MOPS may find themselves out in the wilds so sometimes they got no choice, but to also do their own thing/learn how to survive without at times. Celeste has come home covered in injuries before. But she has the highest delivery rate from her town’s guild at 100%, but only because she’s extra as almighty fuck.
