@longerhuman little did you know this initial post was actually bait for this exact secondary, longer post. fooled you. anyway.
ada: kunikida. actually i really like the trope of really strict and structured x loosey fuckin goosey. i've written this ship in the past before with someone i no longer write with and it was one of my favorite ships i ever did i think about it fondly every day.
port mafia: i actually used to ship canon twain x akutagawa pretty hard thanks to some fic. HOW EVER. i now rescind that because of the change in portrayal as i actually think he would be better with tachihara.
guild: OBVIOUSLY obviously obviously toxic coworkers to lovers twain x fitzgerald FOR LIFE. twain used to seriously have a weird nonsexual desire to get nonsexually cucked for some reason so i think his interest in fitzgerald started at "open marriage" because of the potential for romantic affection without getting truly attached but then shit happens anyway i make meechi revive fitzgerald muse sometimes like once a month to talk about them it is my favorite part of every month.
rats in the house of the dead: i think oguri mushitaro unwilling member of this shit ass organization would literally hate twain so much and that is the best part of it.
decay of angels: this one might come as a shock but it's actually gogol because i think more than any other bsd character (aside from maybe steinbeck) gogol has the capacity to make him like. worse. like if anyone could seriously make twain worse gogol could do it and i love me a good falling into a moral vacuum while also being in love plot.
the hunting dogs: one HUNDRED percent jouno, i feel like the dynamic is "really smart blind guy frantically wondering how he's losing to me at chess" "me who's been very quietly eating the pieces"
in general twain is the muse i tend to imagine in dynamics with literally every single character though because he has a really interesting chameleon-esque quality to him where he develops around the people he's closest to. i'm also very fond of twain x louisa may alcott and twain x poe and twain x dazai and twain x steinbeck (BUT IT HAS TO BE DONE IN A REALLY SPECIFIC WAY THIS ONE) and twain x ranpo anyway the gist of it all is that i just like putting this guy into situations.
twain tha kinda muse i've had for so long that i have a favorite ship for him within all the canon bsd organizations and none of them are what you think they are

goofy and risky.
request: may i get dating headcanons for lovecraft, kajii, and mark twain (from bsd) with a female s/o who’s goofy and laidback, but has a powerful and dangerous ability?
# tags: headcanons; current relationships; romance; some comedy; fluff; sfw
includes: female reader ft. howard phillips lovecraft, motojirou kajii & mark twain {bsd}
author’s note: AHHHHH, i love this one!! also, i decided to create a few abilities for this request, hope it’s okay.
— HOWARD
↘ Lovecraft’s ability is really strong; honestly, it’s hard to find someone who has a power stronger than him. He can regenerate, his body is durable, he’s practically indestructible.
↘ But well, hello.
↘ You are here.
↘ Of course, Howard didn’t expect anything unusual in the beginning; you seemed too delicate and tiny to surprise anyone in The Guild.
↘ However, during the mission shared between you, him and Steinbeck, he saw how much you can offer as a The Guild member and his partner; your ability who can manipulate blood caused your opponents to divert their bloodstream and after few seconds they just die painfully. It was quite an interesting experience for the two of you (with John, three of you). The tall man even praised you honestly in a bored voice, saying it was a really interesting, slightly funny sight.
↘ Then you smiled at him and he fell in love with you?
↘ He literally felt his stone heart racing as you laughed under your breath, then joked with John or walked along the wall beside the river, almost falling into it, counting your small steps.
↘ You were so happy, so alive, so innocent. You were his total opposite, loving closeness and jokes.
↘ And at the same time you were so brave, powerful and self-sufficient that he was so hecking impressed.
↘ Anyway. When you two started dating you became an interesting couple that aroused controversy among other people.
↘ However, you didn’t pay too much attention to it; especially when you hug his arm into your own chest or combed his long, soft hair, saying that you really love him and you will always take care of him.
↘ I’m pretty sure that he’ll like PDA and smooches thanks to you.
↘ Sometimes he will piggyback you, and that will be his favorite physical contact with you.
↘ He’s still a bit bitter, dense and new in it but you’re working on it!
— MOTOJIROU
↘ If he is a sour lemonade, then you are strong vodka and together you create a perfect mixture who cannot be stopped by force.
↘ You two found a common language almost immediately, when you joined to the Port Mafia. Kaiji fell in love at first sight and even told you this.
↘ “I have never met such a beautiful and funny woman like you... Do you want to go out for a coffee or cake? Or both? It will be the beginning of a beautiful relationship!”
↘ A simple and honest guy who still surprises you.
↘ How can you not love him?
↘ Of course you agreed that day. You were like two drops of the same water (lemonade?) after all.
↘ During the war for the life of a your boss who was infected with the ‘Cannibalism virus’, you two were given the same task; ‘Jirou was busy with his lemon bombs and trying to smash the members of the Armed Detective Agency to small pieces, and you, with your own ability who can generate a magnetic field and incapacitate enemies, paved the way for your boyfriend to defeat enemy organization much faster.
↘ You were definitely the best partners in the Mafia; everyone were so done with both of you. Lmao.
↘ I mean, one Kaiji is a lot for them, but when are you together?
↘ Headache, headache, headache, headache and headache once again.
↘ You also love showing your love to him, so the rest of the Port Mafia members threaten you with death when you kiss him on the tasty lips, when you two hold each other hands, or when you sit on his lap and hug him.
↘ Motojirou always complements you and is a total cutie for you.
↘ Your self-control during all missions, and the simultaneous joyful personality in private time, seems extremely hot and interesting to him.
↘ You are definitely his greatest and only weakness.
— MARK
↘ Here it is the opposite.
↘ Mark, at first, recognized your ability when he watched you by his telescope along with Huckleberry and Tom. At this point, everyone were in a fight between The Guild, Port Mafia and the Armed Detective Agency; Mark was really surprised to see that you can summon a huge, ruby dragon.
↘ Your ability was a bit like Moby Dick, but unlike to him, you were on the offensive side.
↘ By standing on the head of the beautiful beast, you were able to destroy the city, enemies and all kinds of vehicles. Your face at that time was incredibly composed, stone, and emotionless.
↘ You were the sexiest girl he had ever met in his life.
↘ Lol. Another simp. Wbk, wbk.
↘ Only later the red-haired young man got to know you privately and was extremely surprised ONCE AGAIN to hear your jokes and complaints about everything related to work and about this stupid conflict between the three organizations.
↘ So many happy and amused stars were burning in your eyes at that time... He felt his cheeks burn and heart beats faster.
↘ Huckleberry and Tom teased him for the next few and long days.
↘ Of course, he liked you almost immediately; not only because of your strength, but above all because of your character and humor, which was similar to the one he used.
↘ You were so sweet in his eyes when you joked about random things and took him on numerous dates around town, always thanking him for everything with a quick kiss or peck.
↘ It was nice to hold your hand and at the same time to see your sincere, joyful smile or blush.
↘ Mark would never have thought that The Guild besides money would give him the love of his own life.
↘ And so many sweet, warm hugs!!
↘ PS. Huck and Tom loves you so much too.
↘ You are a big sister to them.
↘ Or rather you’re their lovely mom?
↘ They just love you. It’s a canon.
↘ They respect you more than they respect Mark.
↘ FDFDDPXEQFDF SORRY MARK SDXHDJCJCKRDDSDS.

THANK YOU FOR SAYING THAT ABT THE BSD MANGA ILY THANK YOU I FEEL LIKE MY OPINION IS FINALLY VALIDATED WHICH IS: BSD has turned meh. I have become indifferent towards the plot due to the fact there are no real stakes - I feel like the OP characters like Dazai will always have a solution with a deus ex machina feel to it, making it impossible for me to care. With the recent chaos happening in the manga (I too gave up on the manga a year or so ago!), I was baffled to find out I could no longer enjoy it. My memory is poor, and I can't really pinpoint it at the moment, but BSD just... doesn't engage me as it used to. Keep in mind I was an obsessive fan of it and analyzed it to the tiniest details, but all of my great love for the series has long died, sadly. But! I am glad to hear you feel similarly about it because, yes, the potential was there, but it got terribly wasted.
Bruh don't I feel it, me and @autumn-foxfire have like monthly bitch sessions about the state of bsd at this point. I was also super invested in it in initial arcs (Up until the guild arc ended) and then slowly started petering off only to drop it the first time around the hunting dogs introduction. Then after some time i was like okay ill go give it a second shot, came to the vampire arc went 'wow this is really fuckin stupid' and dropped it again. Idk will I pick it up again, maybe I'll just stick to being an anime only, even tho I also have problems with some adaptation things but that's BESIDES THE POINT.
Please click under for The Point
The thing about Kafka is: He's really good at coming up with interesting concepts and ideas and REALLY BAD at executing them in any sort of satisfying way. Like, when I say I only like bsd until the end of the guild arc, I don't mean it was perfect. It could have handled it's female cast better, it would have been fun to see more mafia and agency team ups besides soukoku and shin soukoku, I still don't get why shin soukoku is supposed to be a replacement in training since Dazai and Chuuya still work together perfectly and even if they hate each other they hate each other less than Akutagawa and Atsushi AND have way more experience fighting together but that once again is besides the point. The point being those arcs of bsd were SATISFYING. We got introduced to two organizations, seen them butt heads and then have them forced to work together against a common enemy. It's very simple but it's effective and it's satisfying.
And then the rats struck.
While up until then bsd wasn't perfect it was fun and had lovable characters and an interesting plot and engaging dynamics. Rats arc wasn't horrible per say, the idea of the cannibalization was really fun (Though I think Kafka should have used it to get rid of Mori, nobody fuckin likes Mori) but this is where we slowly get introduced to what I think are two main failings of Kafka's writing: That he's unable to handle characters properly and that he likes writing smart things but doesn't know how to write smart things.
Kafka has a very, very bad habit of INTRODUCING TOO MANY FUCKING CHARCTERS. Every arc is a new massive group with like a bunch of members, one of who may actually end up being fleshed out before they are inventiblely replaced by another large group or maybe two why the fuck not. The mafia and the guild left lasting impressions on me and I can still name all the main members but fuck me if i know a single rat aside from Fyodor (AND ILL GET TO FYODOR). Kafka feels like someone who's idea of rising conflict is 'introduce a bigger enemy each time' and it's just so annoying. Chapters and arcs end up centering around these groups of new characters while old characters, who we loved the manga for, just fall into obscurity. He almost had me in the hunting dogs arc by giving Yosano a backstory. I was so excited! I was like!!! finally development for the agency!!! But that barely went anywhere did it. I've talked about this with Foxy but it really feels like Kafka is just BORED of the og characters and is trying to silently sideline them for his new shiny characters. When's the last time we saw Chuuya again, you know, the ex partner of one of the series protagonists? The next predicted mafia head? Is he important? Foxy tells me Dazai's been sidelined too, fUCKIN DAZAI, for a good while I was sure Kafka liked Dazai a lot better than Atsuhi for protagonist and now he's getting sidelined. I know bsd is still really popular in japan but at this point i think it would have been more merciful for Kafka to just end bsd and start a new manga with new characters instead of doing whatever weird metamorphosis this is turning out to be.
Introducing new characters isn't a bad thing of course, but bsd has become mcdonalds of new characters. They are cheap and disposable. I can't feel anything for them because I know nine times out of ten they'll barely make any impact and they'll disappear as soon as the new group slides in. When adding new characters you should do so while knowing what role those characters will play in your plot, what will they bring. If a character is just there to waffle around until they get shoved away they should probably be cut because they are wasting time and space. AND YOU SHOULDN'T SIDE LINE YOUR CORE CAST FOR UR SHINY NEW CHARACTERS YOU'LL GET BORED OF IN COUPLE OF ARCS ANYWAY, ARE YOU A TODDLER???
I still think that bsd could have been SO much better if instead of focusing on the next big evil group they just focused on shifting tension between the agency and the mafia. I mean they've had to team up for the guild and then they immediately got thrown into the cannibalization. It would have been interesting to see them pull against and pull towards those ties made during the guild arc when they are forcefully pitted against each other again (and decide that killing mori would be in everyone's best interest). Instead we got, idk I already forgot what the rats arc ended up being about, atsushi and aku team up again yadda yadda yadda, Chuuya gets done dirty and never recovers, Fyodor ruins Dazai
SO ABOUT FYODOR. As I said, Kafka strikes me as someone who REALLY likes to write geniuses and who wants people to think he's super smart but also has no idea how to show his work. At first this was okay. We had Dazai and Ranpo who were very good at pushing the plot along and sometimes you'd get explained how they got to that conclusion and sometimes you didn't but it usually wasn't a big deal. But then the writing became more and more and more of 'well he's smart so he figured it out so just trust me' without actually explaining anything and as you said, it ended up feeling boring, unengaging and very deus ex machina. You know what Kafka's writing reminds me off? That video about how Sherlock is so happy to stroke itself to how smart they look while never showing their work, you know the one. Kafka likes writing smart characters but doesn't actually know how to write smart characters so instead of giving us reasons and clues and explanations to how they come to some conclusion, how they predicted or planned or whatever, he just goes 'oh well they are super smart so they figured it out'. I don't think I need to explained why this is bad, annoying and unengaging writing. This is why i say Fyodor ruined Dazai for me, Dazai was fine as a genius but then they had to pit him against Fyodor who's another genius and things just got ridiculous. You know how in that sherlock video the guy points out the one scene that encapsulates every irritating thing about sherlocks writing. This had been it for me and BSD (thank you Foxy for helping me find the panels)
THATS NOT HOW CODES WORK, THATS NOT HOW ANYTHING WORKS, THEY WOULD JUST BE COMING UP WITH TWO DIFFERENT SETS OF CODES HERE. Even if they were both smart enough to remember every conversation in detail, how on earth are they supposed to 'guess out' what the other means. How are they supposed to confirm or deny that's what a certain word means in a way that can be understood, how can they even guess what the word the other guessed is IF THEY ARE BOTH TALKING IN CODE. KAFKA'S ANSWER: THEY'RE MONSTERS, THEY ARE JUST THAT SMART, NO NEED TO EXPLAIN IT BECAUSE THEY ARE JUST THAT SMART AND THAT'S YOUR SOLUTION AND THAT'S BULLSHIT. This scene broke bsd in half for me and honestly made me dislike Dazai for a long time (I got better), but it honestly shows so well how Kafka wanted to make his characters so smart he actually made his manga really fuckin stupid, ruining very good and interesting concept he had started with.
In the end, Kafka writes how I wrote when I was 15. With no idea where the plot is headed, adding new characters and situations whenever it strikes his fancy whether they work for the story or not, ending up just flopping around plot holes and fizzled out character arcs and boring ass writing. And that's fine for a 15yr old writing fanfiction. It's not fine for a presumably grown ass published author of a relatively popular manga.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
#anon#bsd#if you like bsd dont read this i tear it apart#BUT KAFKA MAKES ME SO ANGRY AAAAA#IVE NEVER SEEN SO MUCH POTENTIAL WASTED SO EFFECTIVLY

On the topic of BSD mental issues..
Because a lot of people in this fandom just LOVE to bestow their own mental problems on characters and even go so far as to claim not a single BSD character is mentally alright, I went on a little rant to debunk this bulshit of a claim. If you’re one of those who support the “everyone is mentally ill because I said so” theory, don’t even bother reading this, please, and save us both the time.
If you do read, however, please keep in mind those are just my opinions and analysis and why I personally find the claim that everyone is mentally ill bulshit. You’re free to believe what you want but I’ve had multiple people come spurting out insults at me simply for not believing every single character is mentally diasbled.
First, our beloved ADA Atsushi - He's actually doing really well. Sure, he's not 100% ok but we were given no serious childhood trauma impacts (except for flashbacks that don't really... do anything to him mentally except for motivating him to do better which is, you know, not a sign of mental illness), he doesn't have self-destructive tendencies, he doesn't feel like he owes the society anything but he doesn't slip to nihilism either. His motivations are humane and sane and relatable. I mean, if anyone told you your friends would be in mortal danger if you stay with them, wouldn't you try to get away from them too? Dazai - Ok, Dazai is far from stable. He still handles his issues surprisingly well though and his constant suicide attempts are really played off as a joke, which is not the best way to handle them but it takes a lot of seriousness from it and kind of makes it hard to believe it's what he actually wants to do with his life. Especially since there are times where he goes out of his way to make sure he stays alive (Dead Apple being just one example). Kunikida - Arguably one of the most stable characters in the show. Some people claim he has OCD but have you ever seen an actual OCD patient? His love for schedules and hard time when they can't be kept is something that runs in my family and nobody has ever been diagnosed with OCD. People need to realize that having your life planned out is not a mental illness. Yosano - I'm a little more benevolent about Yosano, especially since she has a more psychotic side to her and she seems actually damaged by her childhood but I stiil stand my point that she is doing extremely well for someone who supposedly has a mental illness. It's almost as if the "insane" side of her was purposedly overblown for comedic purposes. Ranpo - I know a lot of people say he's autistic but I don't agree with that hc. Why? Well, I have a classmate who's not autistic and she's exactly like him. She's smart, almost genius, has great deduce skills and brilliant crime-solving abilities (tested multiple times with Black Stories or whatever that game is called in english) but she is unable to live on her own. She knows close to nothing about real life, skills used for everyday functioning and as for public transport, she only learnt how to use it recently and she's almost 19 years old. I also have an autistic friend who specifically said he'd find it insulting to hear that Ranpo is supposedly autistic. Tanizaki - I'm not sure what to say here, Tanizaki is a normal guy. Nothing special about him. He's willing to go great lengths for his little sister but I think anyone with younger siblings can relate to that. At least anyone who cares for their younger siblings. Kenji - Go on and tell me how Kenji of all people has a mental illness, I dare you. And if you pull out his cheeriness, you're obviously just too depressed to fathom that some people might actually enjoy life. Fukuzawa - Again, one of the most stable characters in the series. Say what you will but he's not unstable and his ability to stay calm at almost any situation except for when his kids are in danger is just further proof of this. Kyouka - I'd say she might have issues. My afforementioned autistic classmate pointed out that she feels autistic to him so there's that. Also her childhood visibly screwed her over. However, she's still surprisingly stable and normal despite all of that so while she might have some issues, they are greatly balanced by her strong will and natural personality. Naomi - I wouldn't say Naomi is 100% ok in the head but not to a point where I'd claim an actual mental illness. Sure, I'm not a doctor but nor is anyone who diagnoses her with whatever it is they diagnose her with. Haruno - And exactly what is wrong about Haruno? She's cute, positive, cheery, hard-working and supportive. And she gets scared in situations that invoke this. Literally NOTHING weird.
Next up is our dear Port Mafia Akutagawa - No denying it, Aku has serious issues. Again though, he's doing far better than most people with similar problems but that could just be due to him letting his frustrations out via murder. Chuuya - No issue found here. Sure, he's a little short-tempered but that's about it. A lot of people are short-tempered without being mentally ill. And he could be portrayed with some serious issues due to his origin and past. Gin - Do we even know enough about her to diagnoze her? All we know is that she's silent, a little shy and that she's always on odds with Tachihara. Make me a diagnosis from that. Higuchi - Aside from her massive crush on Aku, there's nothing weird about her. She probably picked the wrong job but she's willing to work hard anyway to earn her place there,, which is not exactly typical for people with mental illnesses. Hirotsu - STABLE PERSON. Just... what else is there to him? He is literally the voice of reason who commands the black lizard solely because he can actually keep them under control. Geez, there is literally nothing linking him to any mental problem! Kajii - This guy's got issues, no denying it. And I won't even say he could do worse because obviously he could but he's fairly close to being the insanest (is that a word?) he can get. Kouyou - Oh look, ANOTHER completely stable person. I mean, come on, she's been an executive since Dazai and Chuuya were 15, that's seven years. Clearly she couldn't hold her position if she weren't stable. Not to mention, we saw her being stable in stressing situations so. many. times. Elise - She's an ability. No comment. Mori - Yes, he has his issues. But he's the hypercompetent Mafia boss who stayed in charge for a very long time already and there's no sign of anyone overthrowing him any time soon, nor planning to because he's just a great leader, something he couldn't be if he was mentally ill. Oda - Do I even need to elaborate on this? Oda is very probably the sanest person we got, one who sees the wrongs of his past and does his best to overcome them and repent, all of which goes without him being depressed or self-loathing in the slightest. Randou - This has been talked about a lot. Randou is sensitive and impulsive and sometimes acts on emotions rather than rationallity. None of that makes him a mentally ill person. It just makes him a person, a human being we can all relate to. Ace - Ace is a selfish human being who thinks too highly of himself and is manipulative and abusive. Is that a problem? Yes, obviously. Is that a mental illness? Not necessarily and more likely no than yes. He does things for his personal gain and everything went his way for far too long for him to expect it to go any other way. And as we all know, power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutelly. Q - Does anyone really think Q is sane?
Now for the group that so many people dislike it’s honestly sad, the Guild Francis - Francis is, first and foremost, a very loving husband and father. He goes on this insane mission to Japan to obtain a mystical object he believes is real but never got any deffinite proof of. Is he naive? Perhaps so. And after he loses, he gets depressed and broken because he finds out his wedding ring disappeared, probably because his wife did something. That breaks him. And honestly? He has every right to break down. It's understandable and human and it does not make him mentally ill. Louisa - While yes, she is very shy and some argue she has some sort of anxiety disorder, all of this can be explained by the fact that she's practically a child. She's 18 dammit. Who could leave their home country at 18 only with an organization of older people, who also all seem very sure of themselves, while having no combat ability and nothing to really bring to the table? If she were mentally weak, there's no way she'd go looking for Francis after his fall, it's actually more likely she'd hurry back home, probably with tears and fear of being arrested if she were to stay in Japan for longer. Margaret - Name me one thing that makes you think Margaret of all people would have a mental issue. One thing. Most of her screentime is her being a vegetable. And while that is certainly a health problem, not a mental health one. Nathaniel - Hey, he was completely ok before meeting Fyodor. Being religious is not a mental health problem and f you if you say otherwise. John - Again, nothing unstable about John. He's not even that selfish, doing what he can to support his family and even picking up the remainings of the Guild to keep the people together and give them new hope because, y'know, hope is very important to people. Lovecraft - He's not even human. You can't apply human mental health logic to him. Herman - We've seen him for how much... 2 minutes total? And even from just that, he seemed like a calm and composed guy. No sign of mental problems whatsoever. Mark - He's hyper, that's what people say at least. But is he really? Kind of hard to believe when all we've seen of him is two scenes of adrenalin rush, one scene where he tries to lift the spirits of his coworkers and one scene where he just decides to go back home because this adventure is obviously over. No sign of mental illness here either. Lucy - A little more visible traumatic impact than with Atsushi and some abandonment issues, which are completely understandable and relatable. Not necessarily a mental illness. Poe - Ok so Poe doesn't feel well in company of others and he is a little psychotic when he gets too into his self-assigned role but 1) introverts are not mentally ill and 2) it's completely natural to get carried away when we witness the person we believe wronged us getting some karma back.
The one group that appeared for such a short time, yet everyone seems to love them, the Rats Fyodor - The most obvious god complex, clearly. He's not sane but he's stable so there's that. Nobody says he's ok, he's clearly not. But he's composed and smart enough to not let his issues control him. Ivan - Part of his brain is literally gone. He's not ok. he can't be. And unless part of your brain is missing too, you physically can't relate to him. Pushkin - Actually a stable, understandable character. Weak men are known through all of history to be the causes of major drama simply because their complexes over being weak lead to them finding joy in torturing the strong. It's not a mental illness, it's just bad character. Oguri - Clearly, Ogugu has issues. Call it survivor's guilt or PTSD or whatever you want, he has issues. Nobody is denying that. Still, he's doing fairly well when not desperatelly trying to seem evil.
I do not feel like doing the Hunting Dogs for the sole reason of me not liking them enough to focus on their mental states but they are pretty much lab rats, artificially enhanced humans and that alone should be enough to explain why I don’t believe in applying normal psychology to them. As for the Decay of Angels, there’s still much more to learn about them so I won’t get into that just yet. And when it comes to the governmental agents, I haven’t read the novels so I only know a bit about Ango and I honestly don’t see how anyone could think Ango has a mental illness.
I repeat again, these are my opinions, based on my experiences and what I’ve studied about mental illnesses (because believe it or not, I study about these things quite a lot). It doesn’t fit except for Tumblr romanticised versions of them and even those are iffy. You’re free to agree and disagree with all of this or with just certain parts but please don’t feel required to share your thoughts, I frankly don’t much care.
With that I bid you goodbye, at least until another thing prompts me to make a long-ass analysis almost nobody will read, nor care for.

Dino’s Questionaire
I did it!!!
for once...
@awkwardbsd
What ability would you have in the BSD universe? (What would it be called? What’s its purpose? How does it work?)
I do have an OC although it’s not well developed. But I would like to have an ability I’ve named called A Wrinkle in Time. The simple explanation is a time travel ability, but I digress that it’s a lot more complicated. The user has to be aware of all possible altercations to a timeline and be able to figure out which events can’t be changed and which can. Changing the timeline is complicated stuff and I really haven’t thought the whole thing through yet, but I do think about it a lot so someday I might be able to explain it better.
If you could claim someone’s ability in BSD, whose ability would you want?
Actually… Mori’s would be cool. But I think I’d probably end up asking for Kunikida’ or Gogol’s ability.
What group/organization would you join? (ex. Guild, Port Mafia, Armed Detectives’ Agency, Rats, etc.)
Port Mafia…. For reasons…
Which BSD character do you identify with the most?
Ranpo! I’m a very loud person and I’m pretty confident, I’d say. I don’t really think things through so watching Ranpo do stuff agrees with me especially when he was leading the ADA
Who are your top five favourite BSD characters? (You can change the number)
1.Akutagawa Ryuunosuke
I have a type when it comes to characters, deep seated trauma, shocking connections to main characters so he was a natural fit for my favorites list. I really love his arc in the manga, watching him slowly change from asshole to slightly likable asshole is great.
2.Ranpo Edogawa
The character I relate to the most, teehee. He’s my favorite ADA member cause of his confident attitude and the way I can easily see myself making the same choices he does.
3.Kenji Miyazawa
The pleasantest boy! If there’s any characters I love more than the edgy ones with angst, it’s the happy go lucky badass. He’s a happy guy and he makes me feel good to see him on screen so.. he’s a fav.
4.Atsushi Nakajima
TBH, I hate it when people hate on him. He’s been through so much and I adore him. Keep going Atsushi! I believe in you!
5.Lucy Maud Montgomery
I’ll be honest, I found her so annoying at first. But, she’s really grown on me as her personality grows and I’m now happy to say that she is a favorite of mine!
Are there any authors that you’d want to bring into the BSD universe that hasn’t arrived yet? Or do you have OCs?
As I mentioned I have one OC named Madeline L’Engle after the author of A Wrinkle in Time. I don’t really have any other ones, sorry ..
Favourite Scene(s)?
-Oda and the Truck
-Atsushi and Akutagawa v Fitzgerald
-Kyouka speaks to Akutagawa on the Ship
-Akutagawa v Atsushi on the Ship
Favourite Quotes from the Authors/Characters?
I only know character quotes oof.
“You should forget about your debts. No one remembers you owe them” -Dazai Osamu
“Be it with a cow or a person. Be it in a village or a city, if your’e sincere, you can communicate with others” -Kenji Miyazawa
“The leader of an organization is at the pinnacle of that organization and at the same time, he is it’s slave.” -Mori Oguai
Who would you want to bring to life to be your best friend? Waifu/Husbando?
Kyouka. We’d judge people together and eat food and have a grand old time.
How has Bungou Stray Dogs changed you as a person? Did you learn anything from it?
When I first joined the fandom, I was coming out of a really toxic experience in another fandom so I was very cautious. I made this awkward blog in an attempt to connect with others and I can’t believe that it’s now my most popular blog.
I know I’ve been kinda gone lately but I still miss posting here whenever I’m not here.
Thanks for sticking with me.

Bungou Stray Dogs Questionnaire!
Thanks to @nsisbest385 , of course, I'm doing this.
Rules: Complete all the questions you want, expand and explain your answers as much as you want, and have fun!
If you can, tag some people you want to join in on the fun!
----------------------------------------------
What ability would you have in the BSD universe? (What would it be called? What's its purpose? How does it work?)
Little did Dino know that I already have one ready for this question.
The Puzzle Murderer:
The ability to understand and create "perfect" closed room murders; the ability allows the user to see how to make the most viable closed room and the hardest to crack with the available materials they have. Not only can the ability allow the user to see an almost perfect closed room murder, but also to make it the most extravagant, flamboyant murder ever. The less resources, observational skills and creativity the user has, the easier it is to understand the trick. Every murder it comes up with is solvable, if the person pays attention. It can also be used in writing, as long as the local, persons involved and situation is specified enough.
It has to follow this rules:
1- The "reader"/those who are observing the crime being solved by the detective must have equal opportunity with the detective for solving the mystery. All clues must be plainly stated and described.
2- No willful tricks or deceptions may be placed on the "reader" other than those played legitimately by the criminal on the detective himself.
3- The detective himself, or one of the official investigators, should never turn out to be the culprit.
4- The culprit must be determined by logical deductions—not by accident or coincidence or unmotivated confession.
5- The crime must have a detective in it; and a detective is not a detective unless he detects. His function is to gather clues that will eventually lead to the person who did the dirty work in the first chapter; and if the detective does not reach his conclusions through an analysis of those clues, he "isn't allowed" to solve the case. He is physically stopped by the ability, and can't say the answer to the crime.
6- There has to be a corpse.
7- The problem of the crime must be solved by strictly naturalistic means. Such methods for learning the truth as slate-writing, ouija-boards, mind-reading, spiritualistic se'ances, crystal-gazing, and the like, are taboo.
8- There must be only one detective—that is, "one protagonist of deduction", the one who solves the case.
9- The culprit must turn out to be a person who has played a more or less prominent part in the story—that is, a person with whom the "reader" is familiar and in whom he takes an interest.
10- There must be but one culprit, no matter how many murders are committed. The culprit may, of course, have a minor helper or co-plotter; but the entire onus must rest on one pair of shoulders.
11- Secret societies, camorras, mafias, etc., have no place in the crime. A fascinating and truly beautiful murder is irremediably spoiled by any such wholesale culpability.
12- The method of murder, and the means of detecting it, must be rational and scientific. That is to say, pseudo-science and purely imaginative and speculative devices are not to be tolerated in the crime.
13- The truth of the problem must at all times be apparent.
14- It must never turn out to be an accident or a suicide.
15- The motives for all crimes the abilities create should be personal. International plottings and war politics belong in a different category—in secret-service tales, for instance.
----------------------------------------------
If you could claim someone's ability in BSD, whose ability would you want?
Ayatsuji's ability, Another; Tsujimura's ability, Yesterday's Shadow Tag; Ango's ability, Discourse on Decadence or Poe's ability, Black Cat in the Rue Morgue. One of those, alright? I'm terrible with deciding,,,,
----------------------------------------------
What group/organization would you join? (ex. Guild, Port Mafia, Armed Detectives' Agency, Rats, etc.)
Armed Detective Agency or Guild, though I would like to be on the Port Mafia and the Special Abilities Department,,,,, mostly because saving people and helping others is one of the things I want to do the most, but the Guild is also interesting and I want to? I'm sorry, I'm terrible with explaining ;w;
----------------------------------------------
Which BSD character do you identify with the most?
Tsujimura, personality-wise. Insecure, determined girl who gets angry easily and wants to keep everyone alive? That's basically me! And also, Kunikida, Ango and Ayatsuji—not as much as Mizuki, but I do identify with them a lot.
----------------------------------------------
Who are your top five favourite BSD characters?
1- Tsujimura and Ayatsuji, in the same level
2- Ango and Ranpo, in the same level
3- Twain
4- Kunikida
5- Oguri
----------------------------------------------
Are there any authors that you'd want to bring into the BSD universe that hasn't arrived yet? Or do you have OCs?
...I have too many OCs. I'll list them.
The Society: Arthur Conan Doyle, Dorothy L. Sayers, S. S. Van Dine, Ryukishi07, Tsugumi Ohba, Leslie Charteris, Frederic Dannay, Manfred Bennington Lee, Gosho Aoyama, Carolyn Wells, E. W. Hornung, Maurice Leblanc and Erle Stanley Gardner.
The Letter: Gonçalves de Magalhães, José de Alencar, Álvares de Azevedo, Aluísio Azevedo, Machado de Assis (now a female), Olavo Bilac, Monteiro Lobato, Carlos Drummond de Andrade, Vinicius de Moraes.
Port Mafia: Georges Simenon, Fumiko Enchi, Inabune Tazawa, Seichou Matsumoto, Elizabeth Delafontaine.
Armed Detective Agency: Rachel Delafontaine (based on one of Ranpo's books).
The Order of the Clock Tower: Lewis Carroll, Mary Shelley, Charles Dickens.
No organization: Eleanor Delafontaine, Lawrence Delafontaine, Edward Delafontaine, Charlotte, Edgar (all based on books, not writers).
----------------------------------------------
Favourite Scene(s)?
Ranpo and Poe talking about their first encounter. That and Ayatsuji exposing the first criminal in Gaiden, when Tsujimura entered the chapel and kicked the guy. That was great.
----------------------------------------------
Favourite Quotes from the Authors/Characters?
"Mystery fiction is, at its core, a kind of intellectual game. An exciting game of reasoning in the form of a novel. A game between the reader and the great detective, or the reader and the author. Nothing more or less than that."
— Ayatsuji Yukito.
----------------------------------------------
Who would you want to bring to life to be your best friend? Waifu/Husbando?
Tsujimura. No questions, just Tsujimura.
----------------------------------------------
How has Bungou Stray Dogs changed you as a person? Did you learn anything from it?
I learned too much with it,,,,, I can't really explain, but I think I grew up a lot with Bungou. It's what made me be more like myself. Damn, Dino, why all the hard questions? Wjdjakdkadkkajd
----------------------------------------------
So, now me is tagging people.
@midwinter-stars @homeforstraydogs @irinyaclockworker @awkward-arthur-rimbaud
Not tagging Dino because he did it already.

Tagged by: @datura-foxglove (and @joeys-piano tagged my main, so I'll just do this here! Thank you to both of you <3)
Tagging: @ahvulon-nightingale, @that-taters-my-tots, @ladytective, @jollyquinn13 (only if you guys want to do it, of course! <3)
Question list here
What ability would you have in the BSD universe?
(What would it be called? What’s its purpose? How does it work?)
Oh boy, that's a good question. I'd like to think it'd be called City of Everlasting Rain (title of a book I'm working on). I'd be able to create very convincing copies of people already dead, and the copies can move but not speak. It can technically serve as an offensive ability, but it's more a psychological attack than anything else.
Restrictions: I need to know the exact face of the person I'm copying. If the person is not dead, it won't work. The copy would be lacking fine details that I have no way of knowing about (like a birthmark in a place that isn't visible). I can only do up to 3 copies at a time, and not of the same person.
If you could claim someone’s ability in BSD, whose ability would you want?
Light Snow. There's just something about a stealth oriented power that I really enjoy. The ability to disappear from everyone's eyes and also to create illusions is one I would deeply appreciate.
What group/organization would you join?
(ex. Guild, Port Mafia, Armed Detectives’ Agency, Rats, etc.)
Can I please say none? JFKFKFKFK With how my body reacts to stress, I'd probably die from a heart attack on the first week. But if I really do have to choose, then the ADA. They have a more “weird family” thing going on, I think I'd thrive way more with them.
However, given the nature of my ability, maybe I'd end up being blackmailed into joining the Rats before the ADA can find me first. Can I get an F
Which BSD character do you identify with the most?
I think on a more obvious level, definitely Dazai. Given his boredom and his depression, he’s definitely a character I can relate to. The way he puts on a smile and makes himself out to be just an “unaware idiot”, for example. Even the small stuff like procrastinating or being really bad at organizing things, including his own room. This is exactly why I’m very sensitive to how people treat Dazai and his character arc tbh; we can actually see how he’s growing from the person he used to be, and slowly finding meaning in what he’s doing, which is really important to me. If he were to die at the end of BSD like some people theorize it will happen, I can assure you BSD will leave a very bad taste in my mouth, and I’d probably never pick it up again.
Who are your top five favourite BSD characters?
(You can change the number)
1. Ango (duh)
2. Dazai
3. Odasaku
4. Ranpo
5. Yosano
Are there any authors that you’d want to bring into the BSD universe that hasn’t arrived yet? Or do you have OCs?
Hmmmmm I don’t think so...? I’m a very go with the flow person in regards to characters showing up, I’m satisfied with whatever new author Asagiri brings into the mix. Besides, my favorite author and inspiration (Edgar Allan Poe) is already in BSD so I don’t have any other wishes. Maybe only Conan Doyle when we get to know more about the English ability users.
Favourite Scene(s)?
Aw geez, uhm... Well the scene that stuck with me the most is the one where Dazai eggs on the Mimic soldier, urging him to shoot Dazai. That scene had a lot of impact on me, and it still does (so it’s no surprise that my reply to the next question will be from that scene as well jhfdsfk)
The hospital scene with Ango and Dazai. To me, that’s the moment you can truly see the extent of the rift between them, all the strong emotions that go unsaid. It’s the scene that cements the dynamic of their relationship post-Dark Era, and I never tire of watching it and picking it apart.
Favourite Quotes from the Authors/Characters?
“I hope you can see the joy in my eyes. With just a press of your fingers, you can give me what I desire most. [...] Please, take me with you. Wake me from this oxidizing world of a dream...” - Dazai, episode 13.
This one for the reason I already said above. I have a lot of feelings and thoughts on this scene, but it’s more than I am willing to discuss here.
“Sakaguchi Ango, a intelligence officer with the Port Mafia. A mysterious intellectual, no one knew who you really were.” - Odasaku, Episode 13.
This line right here destroys me every single time, because, to me, it summarizes Ango’s relationship with the other two. They have been friends for, what, around 2 years at this point? Odasaku can say he understood Dazai (and he did, as shown by his last words to Dazai), but can the same be said about Ango? At this point, he wasn’t yet aware that Ango was a traitor, but you can feel the uncertainty in their relationship. He’s sitting there, where he friend lives: a mostly empty hotel room. In the animation, the song that plays in this moment is sorrowful, even melancholic. I don’t know if this is supported by the novel, but I take this scene as the moment when Odasaku is only now starting to face the fact that he never knew Ango at all.
Btw, my copies of No longer Human and Poe’s works are in Portuguese and I’m too lazy to look up the English quotes, so this is it I suppose FHDUSJIFS
Who would you want to bring to life to be your best friend? Waifu/Husbando?
Please Odasaku if you’re out there, I’m begging you.... Pretty please.....
Also of course I’m marrying Ango, what kinda question-
How has Bungou Stray Dogs changed you as a person? Did you learn anything from it?
I wouldn’t say that the anime itself changed me? But it was thanks to it that I met one of my best friends, who always helps me to grow as a person. For that, I’m forever grateful

What's bungou stray dogs about?
Alright, so this is going to be long as fuck and I hope you’reready for an adventure because that’s what this is going to be (mainly becauseI’m really passionate about this series and when I’m passionate about things it’shard for me to organize my thoughts) (I will also try my best to keep thisspoiler free)
ANYWAYS
So concept: dead,famous Japanese authors.
Cool, right? Well just hold onto your panties because itgets better.
Dead, famous Japaneseauthors with superhuman abilities that are named after a famous book/work.
Just let this sink in for a little bit because it’s superunique and just really cool to think about. Kafka Asagiri (which is ironic tome because there is a famous author with the name Franz Kafka and I just thinkthis coincidence is funny) made sure that the characters have similarcharacteristics, personality wise, to their real life personas which is just socool!
Also, it has the perfectfucking balance of comedy and action and suspense and drama and it’s justBEAUTIFUL
Alright. So the story basically starts off following theorphan, Nakajima Atsushi:
JUST LOOK AT THAT SMILE
He’s just trying his best man. Has severe anxiety and alwaysfeels like he’s a burden to everyone but he’s so sweet and precious and justwants to help people! He always gives everyone, and I mean everyone as you will see in the end of season 1 and season 2, the benefitof the doubt.
Basically, he finds Dazai, Dazai helps him, and offers him ajob at the Armed Detective Agency:
BADASS
Okay. So Dazai Osamu:
Don’t let that smile fool you…he can absolutely kill youwith a toothpick if he feels like it.
Really into suicide…like…that’s how you meet him. Triedshrooms as a suicide method and I never laughed harder tbh.
Super fucking intelligent. He’s not really a good guy or abad guy…he’s somewhere in the grey area in my opinion.
Despite his assholishness, you can’t help but fall in lovewith him.
You have others, like Kunikida who is very anal about everything. Like he has a very detailedlist of his perfect woman that everyone thinks is just…weird. Ranpo, who is anasshole but not intentionally…he’s just really confident and it comes off ascocky. Yosano queen who is a badass doctor who won’t take your sexistbullshit. Tanizaki and his sister, Naomi…read insest. But Tanizaki is a cinnamon roll until you threaten peoplehe cares about…then he goes into murder zone. Kyouka, tiny child, assassin, killed a fuck ton of people yet looks adorable in a maid costume. Kenji who…just…thinkof Finny from Black Butler, I mean just look:
See? He’s a precious optimist though who does things…weirdbut effectively.
So then we have the Port Mafia, the ADA’s rivals/enemies?:
Akutagawa Ryunosuke, edge-lord supreme:
Where are his eyebrows????
Living embodiment of “notice me senpai”. Absolutely loathesAtsushi because…jealousy. He just wants to be appreciated and told that he didgood just let him smile!
Chuuya Nakahara bae:
Short as fuck but can kick your ass to the moon (probablyvery literally too) in his sleep.
Best fighter at the Port Mafia. Wine enthusiast though hehas a low tolerance. Hates Dazai with a passion.
There are others but they aren’t as prevalent tbh. Oh,except Mori…piece of shit boss of the Port Mafia who is trash but reallyfucking smart.
Eventually, you meet the real enemies, the Guild:
Aka THE AMERICANS (it fits because americans areassholes)
Fuck the Americans. That’s only really in season two (andthe last episode of season 1) (so I’ll refrain from talking about them;))
This didn’t really answer too much what the series is aboutbut I don’t want to spoil it or spoil what all of their abilities are in caseyou plan on watching it because figuring it out is part of the fun!
I do hope that this does give you an idea of what BSD is/thecharacters at least and I hope it gets you interested in watching it!! It’sabsolutely AMAZING!
I also want to point out this child i mean just LOOK AT HIS CHARACTER DESIGN LIKE I FELL IN LOVE WITH HIS EYES
Anyway, that’s all for now! Seriously, if you get the chance, watch it!!
#i live for BSD#long post#answered#thanks love!#bungou stray dogs#bsd#Dazai Osamu#nakahara chuuya#atsushi nakajima#akutagawa ryunosuke#ada#port mafia#anonymous

BSD OC Thomas Harris
American Ablity: “The cannibal”
His ability allows him to “eat” the energy from others, healing his body from any injures, making him look younger. Thanks to this is unknow how old he is and how long he’ve lived. He needs to touch the person to “infect” them but is not an ever present ability like the ones of Dazai or Fyodor, he chooses when to use it. When he infects someone he also can feel what the victim is feeling. He can consume all the vital energy of one person in a second, this is what makes him so dangerous because if you try to attack him he can kill his victim long before you have the chance to reach him.
PLOT He arrives Japan after hearing of the Guild being defeated. His objetive: defeat the two powerful organizations who took down the Guild to be the most powerful ability user of all times The way to achive it: Having the best estrategist that also knows both organizations from the inside, Dazai Osamu How to get him: Blackmail, threatening the only person that the guy would do anything for, Chuuya Nakahara
To know more of him wait for the next plots on @soukokuhalf and @xTaintedSorrow on Twitter
