do you have any favorite fic recs that are fox/coruscant guard centered? there are a couple i've found that are really good but a lot of the fox tag is him in a more minor role with the focus on like cody or rex or jedi etc

The way it happens is simple: at some point during your service in the Guard, you’ll lose time. The thing wiping the Guards’ memories gets sloppy and Fox remembers the order not to let Fives leave the surface alive. It changes everything and nothing at all.

Cody has a scar now, and it’s the only thing that differentiates him from Fox appearance-wise. For one, they both have the same circles under their eyes. Fox assumes that’s what comes with being a Commander. Their hands are the same, too, damaged and bruised at all times. But the biggest difference Fox sees when he looks at Cody isn’t the scar. It’s the rage. Cody doesn’t wear that same rage. Fox’s hands ache with the need to punch something.   Or: Fox dealing with Senators, little brothers, the terrifying ordeal of asking for help and a menace called Quinlan Vos.

Boone will actually pull a gun on you when you say something within his earshot. Even if it was some off-comment thing that some scholar said years ago. He associates the language with the Legion, so you'll have to very quickly explain yourself before he pulls the trigger on you. He'll hesitantly put the gun back down when you do, muttering an apology as he does so. He does feel bad about jumping the gun on you so fast, but you have to understand that it's a knee-jerk reaction from all his years working with the NCR and fighting Legionaries. He doesn't think he'll ever see the language the same way again. It only brings back bad memories, and he'll probably ask if you didn't speak it as much around him. If nothing else, then for his own sanity.

Arcade is... caught off guard? You're either from some sort of Legion territory or, you're a Follower he's never heard about, and he's terrified of it being the latter. He'll be very interested in talking to you further despite his lingering concerns. If you've learned Latin, you probably know many other things, and he'd love to find out how far your knowledge truly goes. He wants to pick your brain apart and see what's hiding underneath and would be glad, ecstatic even, to follow along with you, just to see where it'd take him. It's not every day he meets someone else who has similar interests to his own.

Raul doesn't really care, he just thinks it's neat. Not many wastelanders he meets are educated enough to be able to speak another language, and he's impressed that you managed to accomplish such a feat. Although, he does wish it could've been Spanish instead of a dead language only the slavers speak. He'll give you shit for it, but he's impressed nonetheless.

Lily doesn't understand a word you're saying and just assumes her schizophrenia is acting up again. That being said, she mostly just shrugs her shoulders and nods. She might not know what's happening, but she's sure that she'd probably agree with whatever you're saying.

Cass just rolls her eyes when she first hears you talking. Of course, she's traveling with a nerd. Don't take it the wrong way, she's not trying to be mean, but what is knowing Latin going to do you in the Mojave? Anyone who still speaks it also speaks English, so it's pretty much useless. All that time you spent studying the language could've been spent doing... well, anything else, and she thinks you're a little stupid for not considering that beforehand. It's not a deal breaker for her, she'll still travel with you, but she's definitely not as impressed as some of the others would be.

Veronica's more confused than anything. They don't speak that back at Hidden Valley, and she hasn't exactly heard the best things about the people familiar with the language. That's not to say she isn't interested in learning more about you or where you even learned to speak it. She's out here specifically to learn more about others, and you seem to be a good start. She'd even be willing to learn a few phrases from you. She's caught off guard but not entirely turned off by the idea.

ED-E will just beep back. You can't fully understand him, and he can't fully understand you. He sees this as a perfectly balanced relationship. Although a few others in the Divide also speak that language, and lucky for you, he remembers where they are. So, he has no issues guiding you straight toward them. Maybe you could be friends!

Rex is more attentive to your orders. His memories from before being The King's dog are a bit foggy but, when he hears you speak Latin, there's a part of him that remembers those words. Or, at least, the tone. Ceasar spoke a lot of Latin to him when he was under his care, and he may inadvertently associate you with the image he formerly had of him: powerful and demanding. He'll be sure to follow your orders thoroughly.

Cindy (Candy's character) is one of Ryder's childhood friends and has been part of the squad from the start. She uses one-handed weapons.

Mari (my character) is a mage that Cindy and Ryder met at the Collector's Guild. She's blind and basically uses her magical snowman friend as a guide dog. She sucks at magic but she has the spirit at least.

Lilee (or L.I.L.E.E.) is a robot that they found in the first dungeon. This image of her doesn't use her robot design because it was drawn before we made that lore for her. I forgot what L.I.L.E.E. stands for, I just know her bit was being an exercise bot lmao

I could literally do a lyrics breakdown analysis of how each verse correlates with his backstory.

Obviously, O!Ciel has been forced into his brother’s shadow, and watch how everyone adores his brother while he stays inside alone with a dog

The oracle could be Undertaker meeting the twins when they were young, foreboding a terrible fate to come. Also, O!Ciel had to face some pretty complicated feelings of being in R!Ciel’s shadow.

O!Ciel does not actually wish harm upon his brother, but he does feel immense envy for being born as his sickly spare. But he is grateful to him for being his protector and light

I believe this could be where Sebastian is introduced and O!Ciel begins to grapple with survivors guilt, his own selfishness, and him forever being changed by what happened. He wants to be the one remembered.

I believe these lyrics for the most part are self explanatory, but I think this would be a cool part to bring back O!Ciel witnessing R!Ciel’s death (by a dagger), and him reclaiming his dead brother’s name and family ring

These handy little robots unfortunately seem to have been granted sentience and, as such, experience a wide array of emotions and ideas. Of course, as is the outlook on life, these machines sometimes experience a bleakness like people, and need to talk about their feelings, or be given words of advice to cheer them up. Such is the Concept of ITOI: Ingenia Therapeutic Opportunities INC, now hiring temporary interns. Come help boost the morale of the machines that keep the Luofu running by being their own therapist. Professional training and degrees not needed.

Rex pays little mind to the strange dreams he's had all his life, even as they get more intense when he gets older and older.

They're dreams, he really shouldn't mind them so much.

(Something deep within him whines in fear because he knows in his heart of hearts he's putting off something he shouldn't)

He goes through life again.

And again.

And again.

Sometimes it goes well, sometimes not so much.

Sometimes there is music and love and a chance and sometimes there are broken boards and blood in his mouth and a planet devouring.

Eventually, Rex reaches a point where he is tired. So tired.

He tells people. He does things. He nudges.

It takes him awhile to figure out what he could do.

(There are times when he plays the military brat better than Vace and those dreams itch so much)

(Rex doesn't like to remember them beyond wild nightmares)

(Because what does that mean about him that he was a trained dog?)

Rex reaches out to Vace earlier - it doesn't always work - with kindness and empathy and decidedly a soft soldierness Vace never quite learns how to react to.

In the timelines Vace does take his hand, instead of batting it away or shattering his arm, Vace finds someone to ground him and Rex finds someone to guide.

(A guide, a righthand man, a leader with smiles and grins in the dark)

Vace needs help to temper his tongue and his knuckles. Rex needs help steeling his teeth and dressing his heart.

(Nomi-Nomi is perplexed, but they're still friends...right?)

There is a tether binding Rex and Vace (not a leash, never a leash, they learned to give and give) all the way to the surface of Vertumna. Rex smiles and grins and turns on the charm - Vace smirks and poses and breaks all the records.

Vace is a model soldier as the wormhole approaches.

Rex is a model advisor, growing a tactical mind, even as the nightmares return.

The Stratos colony is limping and hurting below them. Vace and Rex are still space kids in space.

And space - is crushing them, because Helios is burning.

Vace is thriving. He is no longer just a model soldier, but a leader and a warrior commanding the troops through a crisis. Rex finds ways to protect and hide and enable courage in the civilians.

The chain of command is dead.

Baculum was getting lead of the ship.

How was Lum the one left???

Lum. Arrogant, sniveling, bad at leading Lum. He was a poster boy for everything Rex hated on the ship.

(Rex felt something churn and burn in his gut with the ship)

Lum barked orders, yelled as people broke fingers.

He wasn't going to save Helios.

(Except, sometimes, he took credit against all odds)

Vace was mired in leading and saving the ship.

Nomi-Nomi was mired in fixing the ship as the wormhole broke it.

Rex faced Lum. Lum faced Rex.

(Rex will never never talk about what happened next)

Lum did not survive the crash.

Lum did not survive the crash but Rex did. Vace did. And Nomi-Nomi did.

Well, after that writer's game post yesterday where I said I was stuck trying to figure out my scene organization, I finally figured out what I wanted to do.

And so here's the next chapter in my current WIP, also known as the blind!Charlie fic.

And yes, there's a fight scene, but it's me so are you really surprised? However, much as I love him and he had high hopes for it, gotta say that it doesn't quite go like how our hero probably hoped... 😈 (Do I hear complaining? I certainly hope not. There's none from me.)

Fusionfall: Cartoon Network's BIZARRE thought experiment!

Welcome back to the House of Milesverse, focused on some things comics, some things Transformers, and some things uh - other things.

Today we'll be talk about a special part of my childhood. I've always considered myself a CN kid more than any othr network. Nickelodeon just did not interest me, and i wasn't into Avatar or anything. But i did like Invader Zim. And my 'love' for Disney only came from the movies, and Kingdom Hearts.

But Cartoon Network? That was a different story. I loved Cartoon Network, and it was the network i watched the most. It just had a lot of fun stuff that kid-me was into.

Kid-Me loved Ben 10, and he really did enjoy Dexter's Laboratory. He'd sit down and watch Powerpuff Girls, or Cow & Chicken. He used to watch Scooby-Doo with his grandma. He even enjoyed early Adventure Time, Regular Show, and Steven Universe.

Total Drama, Johnny Test, The Secret Saturdays, Generator Rex, Teen Titans, Johnny Bravo. There was no limit to the amount of stuff that I'd watch. My entertainment wasn't just playing games or on the computer. It was sitting in front of the TV and seeing what I enjoyed.

But you know what Kid me loved that had - probably most of these things in them?

Well if you weren't clued in by the opening title, I'll show you;

This game got me into playing later MMO games like Elsword and DC Universe Online. It was familiar, it had all sorts of cartoon network characters in it. It remains a big point of my childhood because of it.

So today? Put on your nostalgia lenses. As House of MilesVerse presents it's own miniature REVIEW of;

CARTOON NETWORK UNIVERSE: FUSIONFALL

Making of Fusionfall

Fusionfall's story begins with Cartoon Network and one of their first 'big' forays into gaming. The game was published by Cartoon Network, with a business model planned out by Turner Entertainment. Its developers were Grigon Entertainment, a south korean studio chosen for their art style.

Speaking of? Fusionfall's art style is definitely interesting. It portrays the setting with more anime-esque styling. Characters still retained some of their cartoony looks, however, so while it was different, it still worked.

In the game however, it uh, was an interesting experiment.

Admittedly? Eddy isn't the weirdest looking one here. THAT award goes to;

That's Jake, as in Jake the Dog. He looks like that and is one of the only NPCs with no animations. He's just static, his eyes boring deep into your soul...

Jake knows what you did.

Anyways, Fusionfall is an MMORPG where you play as an avatar. You have some limited but still versatile customization options. Your character uses many weapons, including rifles, pistols, rockets, and melee weapons.

Original? Academy?

The game had two different versions, with one ultimately replacing the other. The original was available from 2009-2011 and gave you a simple story. Your character was a hero testing out a time machine, who wound up trapped in the future. You begin a quest to come back to the past, and eventually you return with the knowledge needed to create nanos.

Don't worry about that, we will get into that bit later.

After the birthday bash, the game's tutorial and introduction was overhauled. Newer characters were added - or at least new for when the game was out. For example? Finn, Jake, Generator Rex, and the Sym-Bionic Titan were all new additions, alongside Chowder, flapjack, and the Saturdays. In addition? Mordecai, Rigby, Gumball, and Darwin were all represented through Nanos.

This version of the game is Academy, which lasts from 2011-2013 when the game inevitably shut down its servers. Academy gives you two bonuses for your character: gliding and dodging. Your multidirectional dodge lets you move from front, back, or side to side.

The overhaul changed your origin story too. You train in the null void (it's a Ben 10 thing), and then Providence. Eventually after completing enough missions, you're sent off to get your guide, completing the tutorial.

Your Guides:

The game had four guides available to you at the start. The good thing about them is that you could change missions. You could swap from one guide to another, but you would start at the first level. If you chose to swap back, then you would be able to resume from your initial position.

Ben Tennyson

Edd, aka 'Double D'

Dexter

And Mojo Jojo

The guides all have different missions too. Dexter wants to find out where the missing heroes from the world are. Ben Tennyson wants to make sure Lord Fuse (We'll get to that) doesn't get his hands on alien technology. These two are pretty simple.

Mojo Jojo wants to build an army of super-monkeys powered by Chemical X and fusion matter to defeat Lord Fuse. Naturally, the player foils his schemes each time - thanks to Mandy, and Dexter, - because he's evil.

Edd is... not what I would have expected, but he wants to stop Fuse from gaining buried candy and treasure maps. I'm surprised at his inclusion, especially compared to the others. But I think he also helps appeal to the comedic leanings of Cartoon Network.

What's the story?

Now we get to the FUN bit!

Fusionfall's story centers on a connected setting between the TV Series. The events of Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Laboratory, Ben 10, and Ed, Edd n Eddy are all connected. All the characters know each other, and everything is united.

The main 'threat' of the series is Planet Fusion, a large gooey planet that's assimilated other worlds. This time it wants to assimilate Earth, breaking it down like it's done to many worlds. The various heroes of the Cartoon Network universe unite to stop Planet Fusion from taking their planet.

This isn't just an easy fight for the heroes, though. Planet Fusion creates dangerous monsters made out of fusion matter to terrorize the people. Worse, they've created evil doppelgangers of our favorite CN characters, named Fusions!

It's a big war between two sides, and your character's caught in the middle. As mentioned above, your character is accidentally sent to the future. He returns to the past with the nano blueprints, so that the resistance may have a fighting chance against Fuse.

Now? It's you, the legendary hero, helping take down Fuse's forces across the world. You lose, Fuse.

The Fusions, and the Nanos

This has been stated above, but it would be easier to hop through it again. The Fusions are evil doppelgangers of your favorite Cartoon Network characters. They may look similar, but they are not nice, and exist to help Planet Fusion move his goals along.

Fusions are always found in fusion lairs, which are in infected zones. Infected Zones are the areas most communicated with fusion matter. There are many infected zones, and they all require you talk to a Dexbot to get in.

In these infected zones, you will usually find more than one fusion lair. This is where the Fusions lurk - are you tired of hearing the word 'fusion'? Don't be, we've got a long way to go. Entering the fusion lair usually requires you fight your way through a horde of monsters, and then the fusion itself.

When the fusion finally dies, you get a nano, made from a personal item of the character, fusion matter, and your own imagination energy. This is just the story reason though, the video game reason is just "kill this fusion, and get a nano". It's adorable, by the way.

Nanos have special abilities, which come in a set of three. With a nano you can get bonus fusion matter from missions, have extra money, make monsters fall asleep, sneak past monsters, and more. You only get to pick one ability, but don't fret, you can change it later.

I always look back and think the Nanos are a refreshing gimmick. Imagine being able to carry a chibi-fied version of Mojo Jojo around. They come with their own voice lines too, with higher-pitched voices.

The base game had around 36 nanos which you gained for each level. Academy added a few notable bonuses, with nanos themed off of more-recent CN characters. In addition, you could use a code to gain access to a nano.

The inevitable shutdown (and potential successors):

August 29, 2013, saw Fusionfall close its servers and shut down. I didn't understand it at the time, but I moved on. It was a sad moment for many fans who had gotten attached to the game series.

Other successors have tried to follow the game series. Fusionfall Retro was released as a revival of the original game before the Academy relaunch. Fusionfall Legacy was going to be released as an upscaled version of the original game with additiona l content.

Both games were struck down by a DMCA issued by Cartoon Network. Retro was removed entirely, and Legacy was canceled before release. Retro is playable through 'Retrobution', a modified spin on Retro.

In addition, both the original and academy games are playable after years of being 'gone'. This is through OpenFusion, an unofficial server that preserves both original iterations of the game. Retrobution is also made using this server.

Conclusion:

Fusionfall was a big part of my childhood, especially as a CN Kid. I'm glad i got to make those memories while playing it. However, I never got to beat the original game because i stopped playing.

Things are different now, and after playing on Openfusion, I managed to beat all 36 levels. I was happy to finally see that through. If I could time travel, I'd go back, and fist-bump my younger self. We finally did it, and we saw it through to the end.

Fusionfall was a cute idea, and the strength of its concept alone could prove useful. However, I don't think it could find an audience in today's market. Outside of old fans, I'm not sure if 'new' kids are as attached to cartoon network as the past few generations were.

Regardless? It could be cool to imagine what it would be like now. Better game engines combined with better controls. Newer cartoon network series like Steven Universe, We Bare Bears, or Craig of The Creek. You could even throw in some oddballs, like Scooby-Doo.

be honest with us. what would you want in a wiatt animatronic sona? what would would the fictional character's lore would be about? (like how the starlight character's backstory is he was a star in the sky)

OKAY. LET'S TRY THIS.

So first we need a species, for which I decided on a dog. What breed? Who knows. Figured the character would be curious and playful, both like a dog and also reflecting Wiatt being curious as well!

Then I tried designing them. Which went. Not well. First basic body, which I used this Picrew for:

just generic dog, tried to make him floofy as possible. Then I tried coloring. This was the best one I got:

Yeah. Color choices aren't my strong suit. I mainly based that color palette off of trying to identify a "main color" for Wiatt (I'll be honest I couldn't find it). So let's not talk about design to much okay-

Backstory would be simple. He was a normal dog who wandered to the facility to find a friend. Due to being so curious, he ended up accidentally transforming into this anthropomorphic dog, who now hangs out and helps however he can, in hopes to figure out everything going on and how people do things. It is definitely a coincidence this mimics Wiatt's life.

I think the animatronic would be like a tour guide/general helper, since I can't think of a good activity/floor theme that would coralate to Wiatt. He would help out lost kids, give directions, and maybe even help different animatronics (ex. Performing with Star, helping in the maze with Lolli and Pop, etc).

Finally, name. Now the animatronic names vary from "average name" (Glory, Lorenzo, Milly) to "sounds like a trans person /pos" (Rex, Lolli, Winnie) to "A Word" (Pop, Cheer, Gruff, Masquerade, Melody, Mimic) to "Two Words" (Ribbon Dancer, Star Light, Night Light). The most common type seems to be "A Word", so let's go with that.

...I'm taking the easy way out and naming him Curiosity-

So. I attempted to create an animatronic for Wiatt. Idk how well it went. Hopefully it's not to bad.

You can bring back a type of dinosaur, and replace a modern animal with that dinosaur. The dinosaur will then assume the role of that animal, but other than that they wouldnt change.

Eg: you brought back t-rexs and replaced cats with them, t-rexs would live in people's houses as cats, and be pets, but they would still be massive dinosaurs. But if you replaced lions with triceratops, they'd be aggressive and attack other animals

What dinosaur are you bringing back, and what animal are you replacing?

Well, the first part is pretty easy, I would bring back stegosauruses (stegosauri?) Stegosaurs.

The second part is much harder; of course, we can't replace something like mosquitoes due to the sheer number of them, so we need something of at least roughly similar size; first thought would be something like rhinoceros, because — well, I'm no biologist but I think so at least — they already fit pretty similar biological niche; but then they'd be wild animals that I would never see them, so what would even be the difference?

But then, I wouldn't really want to replace any domestic animal; I love cats, I love dogs, and I wouldn't want them to dissappear; and furthermore, stegosaurs are too big to be house pets, so either they would only be available for rich people with giant yards, which doesn't really makes sense if we're replacing, for example, dogs, who frequently work as service animals, guide dogs, etc — so for that to work, it would seem like this replacement won't just affect the animal, but also the reality itself — making houses bigger to accommodate such large pets. So, yeah, we're not doing that

Another option would be to replace something like cows, or sheep; them being more similar size to a stegosaurs than a dog would be; but that would be such a cruel thing to wish for. Bring back an animal, just to put it into meat industry? No, we're definitely not doing that.

What about donkeys? Still farm animals, but ones that are not used for produce. But then, they don't really have it all that good either, do they? If the world was perfect, maybe, if animal welfare wasn't something in need to be fought for; but in this non-perfect world I am not giving them the terrible fate of domestication.

So let's go back to rhinos, maybe it is indeed the best option — but then, rhinos are hunted for their horns, elephants — for their tusks, and that's not even taking into account them being stolen and mistreated for circuses and other human entertainment.

So, yeah, maybe that is also not the best idea, and honestly I still really want to have them at least close to humans. So, what about a type of snake? Or maybe a tortoise? A one that is peacefully living in the wild, but also that it wouldn't be unheard of for one to be a pet; but then — and here, once again, my own feelings come into account — would a stegosaurus pet love me back? I know snakes don't, and if the stegosaurus takes the behavior of the animal it replaced, would it inherit all of its characteristics and instincts? It seems so, according to the phrasing of your question; but then it begs another question — am I even really replacing anything? If the mind and behavior remains the same, am I not just shape-shifting the original animals into stegosaurs?

If so, would the animals even know? Would it change anything? We've already established that if dogs were to be replaced it would starkly change the universe, but what about wild animals? Would an alligator bring such a change? And what if I were to replace a bird, would stegosaurs be able to fly? I doubt it, but then it seems the world would need to change to have them fit the same biological niche. Would each bird have its memories?

This is a tough question, that would rewrite the universe itself and there would be now way for us to know! Even if we somehow remembered the world "before", we wouldn't really be able to uncover all details and caveats that this change brought. But we can try. In fact, there is a way to get as close to the answers as we possibly can.

And that is to have stegosaurs replace humans
