More DDVAU thoughts. If you haven't read DDVAU you should.
I feel like what Hot Guy did in the most recent chapter is going to impact all sides of their dynamic significantly.
Obviously Grian was blackmailed and coerced by Hot Guy into being cooperative. Hot Guy weaponized his power over Grian. He threw it in Grian's face that nobody would ever help him and that Grian was only 'safe' (although i wouldn't call this scenario safe) because he allowed it. That retroactively ruins any "good will" they may have had between them.
And it also, I'm sure, extends to how Cute Guy and Hot Guy will interact going forward. I mean, Cute Guy never liked Hot Guy per say, but he was at least willing to engage with Hot Guy playfully at times. I have a feeling that knowing how willing Hot Guy is to weaponize his power first hand- knowing how it feels to be powerless to him- will make Hot Guy's attempts at flirtation lose any charm they may have had to Cute Guy in the first place. I can't imagine Cute Guy feeling very willing to engage playfully with their dynamic after this.
But the part I'm most dreading is how this impacts the relationship between Scar and Grian as civilians.
I mean, first of all, how does Scar just go back to being friends and coworkers after this? I don't believe for a second that his little power trip over Grian isn't going to impact their civilian lives. Although whether scar feels some sort of guilt and tries to mentally separate 'Scar' from 'Hot Guy' to an unhealthy degree in an attempt to lessen that guilt, or if he lets his worst tendencies start to bleed into their civilian friendship now that he crossed that line as Hot Guy, is anybody's guess.
And most tragically of all is the thought of Grian finding out Hot Guy is Scar at some point. Sure, right now he doesn't know the cop blackmailing him also happens to be his friend and coworker who he's in love with (and honestly the fact that he's unaware of this while scar is adds another layer of implicit manipulation to the whole thing, regardless of if scar intends to use their civilian relationship against grian), but Grian's probably going to find out eventually, and when he does he'll have to grapple with the absolute betrayal of trust that comes from someone he cares about using information he only knows through their friendship- information he only knows because Grian trusts him- to hurt Grian.
It's just fascinating to me to think about how what Hot Guy did to Grian is likely to very quickly and severely impact every angle of their relationship in ways they aren't even aware of.
