𝓼ynopsis. a year later and you still miss park jongseong
Tumblr media
you have a recurring dream that happens maybe once a week.
always about the same guy and living the same day. you’ve had it so often that you can recite every little detail that happens if someone were to ask you. though the only person who knows about this dream you keep having is your dream journal. which admittedly seems pointless now if you keep having the same dream, there’s no variety.
you’ve stopped recording your dreams since it's the same every night that you have a dream worth remembering. you only dream of him.
you wake up next to him, a child that you can only presume is yours jumping on top of you excitedly. she calls you mom and him dad. the three of you get ready, eat breakfast, he kisses you goodbye, and you take your daughter to school.
you drop off your daughter and go to your ordinary office job. then in the late afternoon you drive to pick up your daughter and go home. dinner is premade from the night before and you two wait for your husband.
a nice family meal. he’d do the dishes while you’d carry the load of laundry.
then eventually you fall asleep in his arms.
whose? park jongseong, or jay.
you met him in your last year of university. so about two years ago now, but it’s been a year since you saw him.
you knew from the start that he was only spending a year here.
so the time you spent with him was admittedly short.
meeting through a mutual friend and spending a lot of time in group settings for the first semester. you still aren’t sure what shifted but you and jay started hanging out in the last semester before graduation alone, which bled into the summer after university until he left the country.
in those last few months, there was an undeniable amount of chemistry and tension between the two of you.
it stayed unspoken as you both knew that soon you would be miles apart when jay would leave to start his job for working for his father and you would be running around the city looking for a job, a relationship didn’t fit in the picture.
you just kind of just acted like a couple without the label or conversation.
it did more harm than good to your yearning to be with jay. he held you at night like a boyfriend would, took you on dates, and kissed your face.
you can’t wait to get married. ever since you were a child you’ve fantasized about meeting your husband. when you met jay you were certain it would be him.
jay is business driven. he wants to continue his father’s company and focus on work for most of his life. jay isn’t looking for anything serious, he doesn’t want to settle down just yet, and he doesn’t do long distance.
your plans for the future never once intersect with the other. you don’t want the same things.
you can’t stay away from him though.
one night, the week before jay’s flight, you had the closest talk to about what you were. a conversation that should have happened earlier.
“do you think you’re going to date when you move away?” you ask him while eating the dinner he had made you at his apartment.
“no,” jay says bluntly, taking a sip of his drink. “i don’t think there’ll be anyone there for me.”
“do you really want to work for your dad?” you pick up a bite from your plate.
“there’s no one else but me,” he shrugs. “i’ll have to take over eventually, so i might as well start now.”
“i guess you’re right,” you mumble. “is there anything that would make you stay?”
“you.” jay says honestly. “but we both know it’s too late.”
“i guess you’re right,” you sigh, playing with your food, your appetite is gone.
“sorry,” he apologizes. “not to get your hopes up or anything.”
“it’s fine, i figured you’d say that,” you get up and walk towards the kitchen to put your dishes in the sink.
the next day you ask jay when his flight would be leaving at the airport. he tells you that his plane leaves at twelve. you make sure you’re there by ten.
“jay!” you call out in the crowded airport when you spot the back of his head, his birthmark on his neck showing it’s him.
“____!” he quickly gets up from his seat at his gate. “you’re early?”
“i wanted to get you alone before everyone else comes!”
“oh,” jay scratches the back of his neck. “it’s just you that’s coming.”
“what! why?” you say shocked.
“i said bye to everyone else yesterday, i wanted it to just be us.”
“what if you’re forgetting someone?” you frown.
“i’m not leaving much behind,” jay shrugs. “moving brings me closer to my family and friends”
that bitter feeling started bubbling up inside of you. it was wrong to want to beg him not to leave you but there was a part of you that always wanted to be just a little selfish. enough to make him stay and commit to you, even long distance would suffice for you, but it wouldn’t for him. you knew that better than everyone.
“oh,” you look at the ground. “are we not friends?”
“that’s not what i meant-”
“it’s okay,” you can’t fight the frown on your face. “we’re not anything anyways.”
the rest of the time at the airport you sit at his gate in silence. a spot between you both as an invisible barrier. you badly want to leave and forget about jay but you won’t let him go until he has to get on the plane that will take him thousands of miles away from you.
you want to talk to him but cannot find any words. tongue-tied next to the boy you’ve grown to love in the short remaining semester of your university career.
jay cannot seem to find the right words either. you’re here right in front of him and he can’t just hold you close for the last hours you have together. anxiously checking the time on his phone leading up to boarding.
“boarding starts in 20 minutes,” jay says quietly.
“oh,” is all you can respond.
“do you want to go for a walk?” he asks, you nod.
the two of you walk side by side in circles in the area around his gate. in an uncomfortable silence, you are not used to having with jay.
“i have to get going,” jay pauses, stopping the both of you in his tracks.
you’re voice is still lost, tears brimming your eyes, you can only wrap your arms around his torso and cry.
“baby…” he whispers, drawing you in closer, if that was even possible.
you can’t stop crying, hugging him as your vision turns blurry.
“i’m sorry,” you finally stutter out, clutching a handful of his shirt.
“for what?” jay asks in genuine confusion.
“loving you when you said you weren’t looking for anything.”
“don’t say that,” he replies, feeling his own eyes getting teary. “it’s neither of our faults. time just wasn’t on our side. if i could i’d do anything just to be with you.” he says into your hair.
you reluctantly let go and find your way out of the airport and to your car. once climbing into the driver's seat you let the rest of it out. sobbing until you could no longer produce any more tears. while jay does the same while he gazes out into the sky from his airplane seat.
jay regrets not trying with you with every day that passes. he knows that the both of you could have made long-distance work but at the end of the day he knows he cannot live up to what you want. so he deems it best to ghost you while he’s in an american state. for work he claims but it seems more like a form of self-torture.
he can keep it together for the first couple of months of work, but soon his father notices something is up. he becomes frustrated with his son’s work, he hasn’t shown any growth in months and seems overall out of it. he sends him back home and tells jay to find himself before he even thinks about becoming a ceo.
there’s a knock at your door on a late saturday night. you’re slightly tipsy from some wine you had been sipping on, walking to the door calmly with no idea who it might be.
on the other side of your door is park jongseong. suitcase behind him, with a bouquet with your favorite flowers.
when he sees your face for the first time in a year he can only hope you’ll let him in to make up lost time.
“jay?” you say in disbelief, rubbing your eyes and wondering if the alcohol has already taken over your system. “you’re home?”
“i'm sorry if i'm coming home too late,” he says handing you the assorted flowers.
“why are you here?”
“‘cause this time i won’t be late.”

Sam's toxic relationship with Danny.
Alright, so, in Double Cross My Heart we all know Sam gets a new crush and Danny becomes jealous. But, after watching this episode for the umpteenth time, I really don't think he was jealous, he was just being overprotective as always (13).
Moving on, there was something about Gregor I noticed from the get-go and why I think Sam just fell for him on-sight, anyone want to take a guess?
Tumblr media
Well, let's see, he's tan, wearing black and white, has white hair, and green eyes (he takes his sunglasses off at the end of the episode). Any of these attributes sound, I dunno, familiar?
Do I think this was intentional? Yes, but not from his end, he had no idea Sam has a crush on Phantom, and yes I mean Phantom. Why?
Tumblr media
This is when Sam's crush on Danny actually started, this moment here. No not earlier in the episode when they're holding hands, she and Danny do blush but it's because they're in an awkward situation, not because 'oh no I'm touching my crush's hands'. Sam doesn't show any actual interest in Danny in any episode prior to this, sure she and Danny are dancing together at the freshman dance (parental bonding) but there's no romance underlying the scene, it's just two friends dancing platonically, Danny even says he wish he took her just because she wanted to go.
Do I think Sam even knows she has a crush on Phantom and not Danny? No, she's 14, she wouldn't understand that. Why do I think that? Well it's just the way she treats Danny as Danny and not as Phantom, when Danny does regular teenage boy stuff she gets all angry and annoyed by him and Tucker, but when it comes to the ghost stuff she's not as bad about it. I get she's trying to get him to be more mature etc, but he's 14 xD let him be 14.
Then there's Memory Blank, remember how she just straight up gets called out for her causing issues with Danny and just not apologising for any of it? She apologises for the fight, not for what she's done, and Danny just rolls over. It's insane. "Welcome to my world, remember? We should make the menu recyclo-vegetarian! We should let the gorilla out! We should sell all of your dad’s stuff at a garage sale!" "Anything else you want to blame me for? The ice age? Puberty?" "Sam, both monsters knew your name. Either there’s another Sam involved in ghost fighting-- or it’s you." "How about a “thank you”, huh?"
She never actually apologises for any of that tbh, even in this episode she had a go at Danny for beating up the possessed cow balloon and not for haunting the Truck Dealership place. Y'know, he does mature superhero things and she's like "yeah but my agenda", Sam has a tendency to only be mad at Danny for abusing his ghost powers if it doesn't give her perks.
Killer Garage Sale: Danny gains popularity, Sam is ugh. Splitting Images (the NEXT episode): Danny (who's possessed and Tucker even states Danny's acting weird) gains popularity, Sam ignores Tucker's observation and jumps on Danny's popularity to save the frogs.
I feel like the two finally getting together was only because of Elmer's initial plan, but in-universe they only got together because every other character insisted on it. Sam only has the Class Ring because Valerie dumped him and the only reason it has her name in it is because of Jack, Danny never actually gave it to her.
Alright, gonna jump all the way to Frightmare now because I think, even subconsciously, Danny just doesn't have any real feelings for Sam. Why?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because this happens. In order to wake up from Frightmare's dream helmet things, you need to have a shock in their dream, or basically a nightmare. So Danny's dream was basically perfect up until Danny was confronted with what he thinks is what he wants, yet he wakes up in distress over it. Then there's Sam's dream, which is identical, but Sam wouldn't have woken up from the kiss, it took this to snap her out of it.
Tumblr media
Which feels... Kind of telling to me. Sam's perfect dream was happening and she would have remained asleep, but Danny's exact same dream was happening and he woke up. Our subconciouses are basically our thoughts and feelings in their purest form, the way how you feel about something will be very apparent in an instant.
Ok, last episode I'm gonna talk about it, ugh, Phantom Planet. I know, I know, the writing in this episode was so messed up, but the one thing it did get consistent was Sam's character in this. I'm just going to take her last line in the show, which also happens to be the last line in the show, period. "Why not? Cool statue. Personally I would have made it out of recycled materials but, you know, that's just me." Honey, your boyfriend just saved the entire planet and you're going to take the time to complain about his statue??? Like... C'mon Sam... Anyway, yeah, there's a lot more I could say about this btw, but I think I'm done here. Personally, I think if Paulina and Danny wound up together I don't think it'd be as toxic as one with Sam's currently is. "But she only loves Phantom", yeah, but also she's never mean to Danny on her own, she's only mean to him in front of her friends and to Sam to piss her off. She always singles Danny out from his 'loser friends'. Weird huh? ((Just know I'm not saying I ship Paulina with Danny, just that she's actually not as bad as people think she is to him, she's a lot less mean to him than Sam is tbh, you can probably guess who I think is the better person for Danny xD)).
So yeah, I feel like after some time Danny's relationship with Sam would dwindle and eventually end, they'd still be friends, but just that.
I'll end it there.
EDIT: I also forgot about this.
Danny spies on Sam with Gregor because he’s worried Gregor’s with the GIW and doesn’t want Sam to get hurt, Sam gets mad at him for spying on her whilst on a date.
But when both Sam and Tucker spy on him and Valerie because they’re worried Valerie might waste him as Danny Phantom (Sam also has some very blatant jealousy spikes) everything is ok???
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don’t think Danny gets upset that Sam and Gregor kiss because he’s jealous either, I think it’s because either: A) he’s realising he might be wrong, B) he’s worried that if he’s right Sam’ll be heartbroken. If he was jealous he wouldn’t have been suddenly ok with Gregor after stopping the GIW from attacking him, he even apologised to Sam for the spying, Sam and Tucker never did ouo
When Danny goes on to say there’s many reasons to want to date Sam, again, only Sam blushes here, Danny just plays it off and doesn’t blush at all. He was just being a good friend and making her feel better, not saying he would date her. He’s 14, he doesn’t know you can platonically call someone pretty.
Let’s not forget Danny’s feelings for Valerie haven’t gone anywhere yet, the episode (double cross your heart) literally starts like this.

Play, Sleep, Repeat
Arsenal Women x Teen!Reader
Summary: You're Katie's cousin
Tumblr media
Katie has never quite understood you.
You'd always been on the fringes of her awareness.
She has all her siblings. Her close family is big. Her extended family is even bigger.
You're her cousin, on her mother's side.
She'd never really kept up with your life. She'd see you at family reunions maybe once, twice a year and it would all be a quick conversation before she moved on.
She'd never been close enough to her uncle, your dad, to really know what was going on the two of your lives. All she really remembers was that his wife (your mother) had left him and he was a single dad.
It was surprising to see the Arsenal announcement photo with you smiling at the camera, a big Ireland flag draped over your shoulders.
It should have made her feel bad that you didn't drop a text to say you were signing but Katie didn't even know you played football until the announcement so she decided that she didn't really have room to have her feelings hurt over it.
She had hoped this would be the opportunity for you both to grow closer but, as she looks at you now, horsing down your lunch, she kind of thought that was a pipe dream.
You get up immediately after finishing, avoiding the table with the other younger players and heading back out onto the pitch.
It was like clockwork with you. You were either crashed out asleep in the break room, eating like you'd been starved or practicing for hours before or after training.
"What's up with your cousin, McCabe?" Leah asks, watching you leave as well," She never hangs around."
Katie shrugs. "I dunno. She's always been like that, I think."
"You think?"
"She's being raised by her Da. I guess she's never been around this many girls in her life."
"Surely she played on a girl's team before coming here."
Katie shrugs again.
"You don't know?"
"I've got a big family, Williamson. I hardly see her back home. Sue me for not stalking her every move."
Kim slides into the seat next to her. "I'm worried about her," She says," She's always here early and she stays late too. I've never seen her Dad pick her up."
"So what? She's a big girl."
Kim raises a brow. "I wasn't worried because she promised me that you've been dropping her off."
"What? She told me Kyra was doing that."
Kim sighs. "I got her address off Jonas. Do you and Caitlin mind popping by tonight? I'd do it myself but she might respond better to you."
Katie stands at your door a few hours after training has finished. She'd been waiting in her car for a while now, unable to believe her eyes when you'd stepped off the bus barely ten minutes ago still in your training kit.
Her hand hovers over the door, unmoving.
Caitlin nudges her to the side, pressing the doorbell.
"Hey," She says when you open it," Can we come in?"
Your eyes dart to the side. "Er..."
"Is your Da in? I need to talk to him."
"Da's busy," You say.
"That's okay. We can wait." Katie barges in and Caitlin follows her before you can stop them.
"How long will he be?" Caitlin asks and your eyes dart to the door.
"Well..."
"Have you had dinner yet?" Katie asks," 'Cause your fridge is bare."
"Stop it!" You say, pushing her out of your kitchen," Stop snooping!"
"Are these takeout boxes?"
"Katie, I mean it! Out!"
"Nah, where's your Da? Surely, he can't be letting you eat all this crap."
You mumble a response that Katie forces you to repeat. A response that gets regurgitated to every responsible adult on the team.
Your Da didn't come with you to England. In fact, your Da hadn't even be to one of your Arsenal matches.
"He'll come when I make it into the Ireland squad," You'd told Katie and Caitlin," He promised."
The team keeps a close eye on you. Your back prickles with awareness and every time you look behind you, someone is watching.
Things change as well, slowly but surely. It's enough to put you on edge.
It starts with Caitlin and Katie driving you to practice. You usually leave hours ahead of when training starts so you can get the bus and still have time to practice before it begins.
(Maybe if you have a bit extra training then Gleeson will have no choice but to call you up for the next international break).
You have no idea how long they've been camping in their car because you get up stupidly early.
They bundle you in with them. They grab breakfast at a quaint place in town before getting you to training on time.
Next comes Kim. She sits with you at lunch and talks to you enough that you finish the same time as everyone else.
Leah helps you with your kit.
Lia sits with you on the bus.
Lessi, Vic and Kyra splash you with water during the changeover at training.
Beth lets you nap against her and Viv makes sure you have a protein shake ready for you when you wake up.
Slowly but surely, you're folded into the team that is Arsenal. You existed on the fringes of life in London, focused on nothing but finally having your father support you in football.
Now though, you have the team to celebrate your goals with. You have Katie shaking you with joy when you score the last minute winner against Everton.
You also have the text from your Da nitpicking your every move in the match.
You feel lucky that he even kept the match on with how shit you were apparently making. A few months ago, you would have gone back to your own habits. A few months ago, you would have ran until your legs gave out.
But it's no longer a few months ago.
So, you just put your phone away and let Steph ruffle your hair on the way back to her seat.
You're actually part of the team now. A key part of the team if you go off how many times you've started a match.
A key part of the time if you go by how you seamlessly tackle Cuthbert and send the ball rolling straight to Caitlin to collect. You're about to stand up but Cuthbert can't stay on her feet and she stumbles, falling with a sickening crunch onto your ankle.
The scream you let out is guttural and you push her off you to grab at your ankle, as if touching it would suddenly make it feel better.
You slap the ground with your fist and scream again. Leah comes sliding in next to you, pinning your ankle to the ground with a firm hand.
"I know," She says," I know but we need to keep it still. Just stay still."
"Leah," You sob," It hurts!"
"I know," She repeats," The physios are coming straight on. Just keep it still."
Katie comes running to you next, tucking your face into her chest as you sob, shielding you from the fans.
Caitlin has taken her job at yelling at the ref, desperate to get some kind of compensation even if it was all a complete reaction.
"I...I..." You manage to get out through your tears," I don't think Gleeson's going to call me up for the break."
Lia, who had gently removed your cleat, laughs. "You don't need to focus on that right now." She peals your sock down. "But it's nice that you've still got your sense of humour."
You hiss as someone else touches your ankle.
"Hey!" Katie snaps," Careful with her!" She turns back to you. "Can you walk?"
"I don't even think I can stand up."
"You're going to be okay," She says as the stretcher is brought on," They'll fit you with a boot and you'll come back to mine."
You groan. "God, not your place."
"What's wrong with my mine?!"
"You can't cook! Can I go to Kim's instead?"
"I think I preferred it when we didn't talk."
You grin. "Didn't your Ma ever tell you lying's bad?"

Bad dreams (Percy x reader)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Child of Hypnos reader, ~4.5k words, set ambiguously after pjo, the request was enemies to lovers so I sincerely apologize. Masterlist
Tumblr media
Capture the flag. It was a game of epic highs and lows, winner and losers, all to decide who wore the crown. Until next week, that is. And nobody took it more seriously than Annabeth, determined to win and keep her indestructible reputation as the best strategist around. She was in the war room, taking this very seriously, and discussing with her right hand man before the team.
Percy groaned, dramatically dropping his head on the table, half pushing off the map. “Annabeth, why?” He complained, hand waving in the air to communicate the distain that she couldn’t see in his face.
Annabeth sighed, taking her head in her hands. “I know you don’t like them,” she started calmly, crossing the floor to Percy to pat his back gently. “But the Hypnos cabin is an asset, between all of them, we can have half the enemy team asleep,” she said, ever pragmatic.
Percy was not a fan of her reasoning, as sound as it was. Unfortunately for him, the head counsellor of the Hypnos cabin was you. And You and Percy? He didn’t even want to think about. No idea why you decided not to like him upon meeting, even less of an idea how it’s escalated as far as it has. “Wise girl, have mercy,” he whined, standing up straight again. “Putting me in a room with them is a sure fire way to lose.”
Annabeth pursed her lips. “That might be true,” she started, circling the table, eyes the pieces she set dramatically to represent each of her forces. One or two Hypnos campers per squad to weaken the enemy. “But they’re essential to the plan, just… you’ll be in different areas, if all goes well.”
Percy grumbled. Things never went well.
As the battle drew closer, the allied cabins assembled to hear the more polished version of Annebeths plan. And of course, that meant you at the table, front and centre, your forces being an essential part of the strategy. Great. You always listened to Annabeth, even though she was always sticking up for him. And she managed to get you on the same team, even when you knew that guy you hated would be there.
You nodded along with the details, assigning siblings you thought best for each task. You seemed a lot nicer with them.
You conferred with your cabin, and offered another plan to Annabeth. Percy wasn’t completing focused, because when you were done, he had no idea what you’d said. Annabeth seemed to be a fan though. She nodded along, and adjusted the prices on her map while you have people notes and alternate delegations.
An order to each cabin head. All except him. He glanced around at each counsellor telling their cabin mates what they should do, and he cringed. You’d instructed everyone else. “Uh,” he started looking to you because Annabeth was busy talking to the Apollo counsellor. “Does my job change at all?”
You pursed your lips, smiling just slightly. “No, I guess I didn’t have anything for you,” you said slyly. “But isn’t jumping in without thinking kind of your whole thing? Just roll with that, yeah?”
Percy’s face flattened as he sighed. He needed somebody else, “Annabeth?” He asked.
She turned to him, and thought for a moment. “They might have a point,” she said curiously, much to his detest. Percy grumbled as she continued. “Using you as a wild card might be beneficial, especially because you can take large groups of them at once.”
Great. No job, and more work, somehow. And you were smiling, a bit too satisfied with yourself and his annoyance. Why was it always like this?
                                             …
There was one time when Percy was sparring with Clarisse, and they got a little too heated, and it ended up with Clarisse on Pegasus cleanup duty, and Percy teaching sword classes for a week. Definitely the lighter punishment, considering he liked the job. Chiron always went a little easy on him. But there were layers to this punishment. Primarily: you.
When Percy was approaching, he saw you, and sighed. You were there first, already talking to the younger campers, wide smile on your face and holding a weapon. Ugh. Of course he had the misfortune of fucking up the same time as you. Okay. This week was actually going to be terrible.
“Hey, sorry I’m late,” he said, jogging up to you and the campers. You’d just finished some sort of introduction, it was the perfect time to slide in. The youngest kid looked maybe ten, and had a dagger in her hand. She was little small for the real swords. The kids were looking up at him, faces blank or curious, and you were side eyeing him, brow raised, completely unimpressed. Yeah, he should probably do something interesting.
“Yeah, you sure were,” you laughed sarcastically, sounding just nice enough for the kids not to pick up on your distain.
Percy grimaced. Great start. With a deep breath, he did  his best to recover, running his hands through his hair nervously. “Well, I’m here now, so,” he said, looking at the younger campers. Grinning, and ignoring your cold stare, he uncapped Riptide, and a few kids gasped. “How about we get to the fun stuff?”
He spared you a glance, catching you roll your eyes at him. This was not going to be a good week. Quite possibly the worst punishment Chiron could’ve given him.
It’s hard to teach as a team when you can’t get along  for a second. And all the kids noticed, and did their best to egg you on. Percy was fighting for his life harder than he had on several quests, until the very last minutes of the time slot. Thank the gods it was only like, an hour. Even if it was one of the longest hours of his life.
And he wasn’t even spared when it was over.
“Of course we fucked up on the same week” you sighed, picking up a carelessly discarded sword. “Let me guess, something boring…” you started, walking idly toward the weapons rack with a handful of blades. “Like what, blowing up the bathroom again? Or sneaking out of camp for a quest?”
Hmm. Low blow. Though not completely unwarranted. “No, much cooler than that,” Percy sighed, rolling his eyes as he kicked up some dust from the arena floor. “Beating up Clarisse.”
You scoffed, “somehow I doubt that.”
And you weren’t exactly wrong. It was more of a mutual beating up, in a sort of frenemy way, Percy was the first to admit. But not to you. “Hey, you should see her,” he chided. “There’s cold hard proof.”
You bumped his shoulder on the way out of the arena, sighing. “Maybe I will, I could get some tips on kicking your ass,” you said, raising your brow.
By the time he thought of a good-ish response, you were too far away to hear, and he was kicking himself for letting you get the last word. He glanced around the empty arena dumbly. It looked like you finished the cleanup while he just stood there, another point you had on him now. The punishment may not have been a competition, but you seemed to be winning thus far. Shit.
And it only gets worse from there.
He managed to come early the second day, a full fifteen minutes to get warmed up, and think about what could be good to teach the newbies. And he had the arena all to himself to slash dummies in the exact way he’d instruct them to do later.
“Clarisse told me Chiron intervening is all that saved you from getting sent to the infirmary,” you said.
Percy jumped, Riptide nearly falling out of his hand. When the fuck did you get here? He hadn’t heard you at all. Sneaky bitch. He turned to face you when he recovered from his shock, “yeah, well, she couldn’t admit she lost a fight if there was a gun to her head.”
You didn’t look sold. You raised your brow, “could you?”
He pursed his lips. He wanted to say something like, yes, duh! But quickly realized it might be a lie. To most people he could, but admitting defeat to you felt much worse. Like it would confirm all your doubts or apprehensions about him, or whatever your grudge was. He decided a little lie wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. “I could,” he said casually, slashing a combat dummies head.
He didn’t see your face as you hummed lowly with disapproval. Probably for the better.
Or so he thought, because as you were walking towards the dummy beside his, he started to feel drowsy. His slashes got slower as his arms felt heavier, like they were weighing him down. He looked at you, and immediately wanted to lie down and pass out. Ugh.  Your subtle smirk told him you knew exactly what you were doing. And it only escalated when the kids started to arrive.
You started the lesson off assertively. While he was struggling to blink with his heavy eyelids. “If you have any cool demigod abilities, you should totally use them literally whenever you can,” you said, pointing your weapon enthusiastically at the campers.
Percy couldn’t help but watch in slight awe as you engrossed them all. You narrowed in on a son of Apollo,  your blade staring him down as you told him he should get comfortable using healing abilities in a fight. You seemed to have a suggestion for everyone; the daughter of Hectate should use the mist, a Demeter kid should try and use vines, your Hypnos brother should use… sleep powers. Percy knew about those all too well.
Percy had to admit he was jealous of the way they seemed excited about your ideas. Did they really like you more than him? It wasn’t that he felt bad not being liked, he was plenty used to that in all the schools he went to. It was more that it was you. The way you showed a nicer side to seemingly everyone but him. His body still felt like it was made of lead.
You had some blind spots though. Not everyone had powers, Percy guessed, watching a couple Athena kids rolling their eyes or looking at the ground. “I hate to interject,” Percy started, stealing your and the kids attention again. “But this is weapons training, there are other classes for using abilities.” Plus, maybe you’d stop using yours if they got back on focus.
”Hey, I’m teaching them how to fight better, isn’t that the goal?” You shot back. You seemed to catch the way his eyes were lingering on the kids without abilities. “Even if you don’t have any specific powers,” you said, turning back to the campers, “if we start using them, you’ll learn how to counter them, and kick our asses better.”
Percy sighed. You seemed pretty stuck on this. He tiredly uncapped Riptide, and pointed at it. “Weapons class, Y/n. Let’s focus on using weapons,” he said.
You shifted your lips around, maybe chewing on them, and then seemed to have a thought. Unfortunately. You smiled at the kids, “yeah, well, Percy doesn’t always use his abilities to the fullest when he fights,” you said. “Maybe don’t take his lead too much.”
Ugh. “Well, it’s not always as easy as some people make it look,” he said, gesturing at you. “Not everyone has powers, and some people get drained easily by theirs. For me, I can’t always rely on there being water around me.”
You crossed your arms, raising your brow, and actually looked at him this time. “You know what people are made of, right?”
The kids were listening intently, some snickering and smirking to themselves. A couple seemed annoyed that the training was paused just so the teachers could bitch at each other. Percy sighed, “yeah, no, I don’t want to do that. I think that was an episode of Avatar: the last airbender.”
You rolled your eyes, scoffing. “Well you might win more fights if you did,” you said snidely. Your eyes lowered a moment as you lowered your voice with a bitter tone, “I hate the idea of you going easy on me.”
Before Percy could respond with a retort of his own, you’d dropped the mean act and completely focused on the kids, upbeat and happy. You clapped your hands together, and shot them a wide smile, “how about a demonstration, guys?”
Aw shit. The kids lit up, nodding along as you continued. “How about me and Percy have a little match, and we see who wins, yeah?” You said, grinning at him. Ugh. It wasn’t a secret that people said he was the best swordsman at camp, but you were a head counsellor too. And even if he could stab you, he probably shouldn’t in front of the kids anyway.
He had started to tune you out, but got snapped back to reality when he heard his name. “Percy, are you down?” You asked with faux sweetness. Ugh. Percy sucked a breath in through his teeth, and sighed. “Uh-Sure,” he said cautiously.
You grinned, and the kids stepped back and whispered to each other. Yeah, they definitely picked up on your rivalry. They waited restlessly, probably excited to see the climax of your mutual dislike. Like the fight was inevitable. He uncapped Riptide with a sigh, and raised the blade as you shooed the kids to step further back. He took a fighting stance, raising his blade at the ready. Just great. Your aura of tiredness or whatever was affecting him seemed to get worse. Yeah, he might be fucked without water.
You smirked, twirling a weapon of your own between your fingers and glancing at your audience happily, chest puffed out in self satisfaction. “Do you want to count us down?” you asked the kids, grinning.
They nodded along, three, and Percy sighed, eying the water bottle he had off to the side. If he could get it then maybe... whatever. Maybe if he beat you, you’d lay off. Two. Or, if you won, you could get ten times worse. One. There was no good outcome. And it’s not like either of you could maim each other with the kids watching.
Ugh. Still weighed down by an impossible spell of drowsiness, Percy started to lunge forward, sword ready to slash in an arc above his head. But then he looked at you. And you looked at him. And you were shooting him a finger gun, and Percy was out cold, without enough time to grumble or complain about it. Well shit.
Like most times he slept, he was dreaming. Nightmares, specifically. At least he felt no godly presence, or anything sinister. Today, it was Annabeth and Grover dead on the floor, with Kronos in Luke’s body glaring at him from the sidelines. And then it was just Luke, looking at him sadly, approaching him, and then asking why he let his sister die. Percy didn’t have an answer.
Nightmare Luke wasn’t a fan of that. Suddenly he was turning back into Kronos and raising Backbiter, and Percy was completely unable to move, paralyzed by fear, sadness, and bitter anger. Great. Just great.
But Luke didn’t swing. He stopped, eyes cloudy and blank, and the bodies faded away. Was his subconscious being nice today? Luke stepped back, and his sword has vanished, and the scene was fading fast.
Percy was awake. He grumbled, not wanting to open his eyes. His head was in the dirt, body completely weighed down by his own exhaustion. The arena floor wasn’t the worst place he could’ve fallen, at least. He grumbled, sat up, and rubbed his eyes until they opened.
You were still there, Percy’s eyes flew open, shaking any lingering tiredness. He scooted back just slightly. You were sitting beside him, head rested in hands and lips pursed. “Uhh,” he stuttered, scooting back further. “You’re uh, still hanging out here?” A quick glance showed the kids were gone, and the lesson had been over for a while.
”You have some of the worst nightmares I’ve seen, dude,” you said simply, shifting your head from hands to hand. “I’m… sorry, I didn’t- I didn’t mean to snoop.”
Percys brow furrowed. What? You looked apprehensive, but your words didn’t seem malicious in the slightest. He stopped scooting back, but he held his arm up defensively between you, unsure why. You didn’t have a weapon. “It’s… fine. Was it you that… ended it?” He asked tentatively.
You nodded. “It didn’t seem fun,” you said quietly. You looked away, hiding your face in a palm, “Sorry for putting you in there, I guess,” you said. “I’ll try to avoid sleeping you, if you want.”
Percy looked at you quizzically, jaw hung slightly open, more than confused. You were being nice. That’s crazy. He wasn’t sure how to act. Every word he said was laced with hesitation and the slightest bit of a stutter. “Thanks, I guess,” he mumbled, scratching the back of his neck. “Appreciate it.”
You nodded, and a slightly sealed silence fell over the woods as you refused to look at him. But you didn’t stand up to leave yet either.
“Hey, Y/n, can I ask,” he started, sitting up straighter and crossing his legs. “Usually you hate me…” he said, almost wincing. “Do you… not, today?”
That got your attention, and your eyes were burning through him. Your brow furrowed, and softened, your mouth opened and then closed, you looked away, then back at him, and then sighed. “I don’t hate you, Percy,” you admitted, sounding abjectly defeated.
That got an involuntary “huh?” Out of him. You totally hated him. That was just a fact.
You sighed, and shook your head, turning back away from him. You tone was far lighter this time, “no, I don’t hate you, I just- I don’t know,” you said.
”Then why-“ Percy started dumbly, but quickly trailed off, unsure how to make his question less rude. There didn’t seem to be an obvious answer. “Why are you like this,” he asked, cringing at his own callousness.
You snickered, looking at him with a slight and awkward smile. You shrugged, and looked back at the woods. Percy didn’t speak, he barely breathed, waiting for any sort of a signal from you. Somehow, it worked. You sighed , and stretched your legs in front of you and said, “I don’t know.” You paused, probably thinking. “It just comes naturally, I guess.”
Percy hummed.
“That came out mean, didn’t it,” you laughed softly.
“Like most things you say,” he laughed, but quickly trailed off. “Sorry.”
You smiled hesitantly, looking over at him with softer eyes than he usually sees on you. “No, that was deserved,” you said.
Percy smiled, and then raised his brow, surprising himself. That didn’t happen when he talked to you, this was fresh territory. Before he could respond, you were standing, and for the first time, offering him a hand up. And for the first time, he took it.
You pulled him to his feet, but didn’t look at him, curtly turning your head away as he stood in front of you. Percy couldn’t help but snicker under his breath. You seemed intent on staring at a tree.
”Hey,” Percy started, brushing his hair out of his face. “Do you wanna go get on the same page about what we’re teaching them tomorrow so we don’t have a repeat of today?” He asked. He got a little scared when you finally looked at him, but you didn’t seem angry. And if anybody knew your angry face it was him. “We’ll probably be better teachers if we actually work together on it.”
You hesitated, raising your brow. “Uh, really?” You stuttered, crossing your arms and shrinking into yourself.
Percy sighed. He was doing this, he’d committed now. For better or worse. “Yeah,” he nodded, with a friendly smile. “Why not? Let’s go get lunch or something.”
Percy wasn’t sure how well his olive branch was working. Your lips were pursed and arms still crossed, but.. the ever so familiar scowl you often showed him was absent from your lips. That could be good. You looked at the ground, then back to him, “yeah, okay.”
And here he was braced for rejection and an insult. Small victories. Percy grinned, nodding his head in the general direction of the dining pavilion, “then let’s go.”
You nodded, and walked quietly beside him as he started for the path. Okay, a little awkward silence was nothing, that was still a win. Miles better than where he was this morning. Or even like, an hour ago. So Percy was inclined to try and bridge the gap. “The kids are gonna be really surprised when we actually work together, tomorrow,” he laughed. Careful words, when, not if.
He caught in his peripheral the tug of your lips upward into the slightest of smiles. “They’ll never see it coming,” you said. Maybe like a joke. Wow, was this actually working? You let out a small laugh, “neither did I.”
Percy but the inside of his cheek to suppress a smile. That made two of you, because this was the last thing Percy expected too. “Yeah,” he started. “Not bad though.”
For the first time in a good minute, you met his eyes, and his attention was drawn. You didn’t normally look at him like that. It was a… nice change pace. You sighed, “No, not the worst.” You swished your cheeks around a moment as you paused, but didn’t say more. And Percy would be lying to himself if he tried thinking he wasn’t a little disappointed. It almost looked like you were gonna say something nice. Well, maybe not the worst was nice enough. For you, at least.
”Percy, I’m really sorry about those nightmares,” you said finally, looking at the ground.
Ah. That. Percy didn’t tell all that many people about his shit dreams. It was kind of a given that most people at camp got them, in some capacity at least. But he did his best to project a lighthearted image, especially when he was with the younger campers. “Oh,” he said dumbly.
“If you want, I can help with those,” you offered quietly.
Now that caught Percy’s attention. He raised his brow, “You can do that?” And he didn’t ask his other question: you would do that? Like, for him?
You looked up at him, then back to the ground as the two of you approached the dining pavilion. “Yeah, Hypnos stuff,” you mumbled. “I do it for some other people too.”
Oh gods, you felt bad for him. That was a weird thought. “Oh- you don’t have to do that,” he started, suddenly far more embarrassed. So that’s why you were being nice. Suddenly it didn’t feel as good as before.
You looked up at him with wider eyes now, and bit the inside of your cheek. “Well, if you ever change your mind.”
Something about your pity didn’t sit right with him, even if was glad you didn’t look like you wanted to bite his head off. This look, the feeling sorry for him face, was somehow worse. “I won’t,” he snapped, sounding meaner than he meant. Or maybe he did mean it, in his bitterness he couldn’t tell. “You don’t need to pretend to like me now that you feel bad.”
You brow furrowed, and that pity look was gone in an instant. “Hey asshole, I was just offering to help,” you spat. Now this was more familiar. You crossed your arms at your chest as you walked. “Thought about being nice for once.”
”Yeah, for once,” he said, rolling his eyes. “Because now you feel bad.”
”Oh shut up,” you said, shaking your head with a glare. You stopped just short of the pavilion. “You aren’t special because you get nightmares, idiot, half the camp does,” you said, stepping closer to him. He was inclined to back away. “I’ve seen worse.”
Percy took another step back. There was a few stray campers sitting in the pavilion watching curiously, now.
“But sure, go ahead,” you said, hands animating with your words. He flinched a moment as you halfway gripped the air. “Keep having your shit dreams, I don’t care.”
“Then why did you offer,” he spat back.
You looked at him like he was an idiot, shaking your head. “Because nightmares suck, nobody deserves that shit,” you said, like it was obvious. “Not even a stuck up asshole who thinks he’s better then everyone.”
What? Percy stood dumbly for a moment while your sharp glare subsided into a duller scowl. Did he really come off like that? “I’m not-“ he started, but quickly gave up. As much as he wanted to insult you back, half the things you said were genuinely pretty nice. You were right, nobody deserved that.
You scoffed, “sure you’re not,” you said bitterly.
The two do you stood silently for a moment. And a few moments more. The couple of campers watching awkwardly tried to go back to eating. The lunch plans the two of you made seemed so far in the past now. Same with the idea of getting in the same page.
Percy spoke first. “I don’t- I don’t think like that,” he said lamely.
”No, you’re just the hero of Olympus, who goes on all the quests, who the gods tried to give immortality too,” you said. But the malice was gone. “You’re the reason I even have a cabin here,” you said quietly.
Percy winced. How do you explain to somebody that going on all those quests… wasn’t always great. It stopped being amazing when more lives were at risk, the stakes got higher, people died. A lot of the time all the glory kind of sucked. “Well it’s… not all it’s cracked up to be,” Percy managed. “I mean, you saw the aftermath.”
”Yeah,” you said, looking at the ground. “That’s why I thought.. you might not be how I thought.” You looked up, expression made of stone. “But at least you’re… I don’t know,” you trailed off, “I think I’d still rather be somebody, even if it sucks.”
Percy half heartedly laughed through his nose, “Usually I feel the opposite, it would’ve been easier to be a kid of some minor god.”
”Grass is always greener, I guess,” you sighed.
“You are somebody, though,” Percy said, realizing he should probably address that. The idea that you were insecure seemed so alien. The way you insulted him always seemed so confident. “You don’t need a ton of quests or fights to prove that.”
You rolled your eyes, a weak smile was forming on your lips, “well, that’s easy for you to say. I’m only here, and claimed, and in a cabin because you made the gods pay their child support.”
Percy smiled softly, gesturing his head to the tables at the pavilion. He started to walk as he spoke, “that’s the gods, that’s their problem,” he said, grabbing a plate to fill with the magic food with you behind him. “You’re more then the gods approval.”
He had to look back to see if you were still there, the way you went quiet. You grabbed a plate, and followed him to a table, all with that stone faced look. Not pity or malice, this time. When you sat down beside him, you finally cracked. “Thanks,” you managed, staring ruefully at your food.
“It’s true,” Percy said.
You looked up at him, a slight smile on your lips this time. “Thanks,” you said, more confidently.
“Are you still up for helping me with the nightmares?”

Vibe Check
Part 13: No Sleep Til Hawkins
Part 13, Also on Ao3 here and tumblr here
Tumblr media
Billy gives up on sleep around 3 am. He’s pretty sure his will to pretend he’s asleep tires out just about the same time as Munson’s girlfriend because it’s silent for once.
He rolls on his side, watching Steve sleep. Steve had babbled nervously right up to the point of sleep and past it, his nonsense mumbles finally petering out.
He knows Steve is nervous, but for fuck’s sake, so is he. At least Steve isn’t dealing with heartbreak on top of that.
Billy sits up and rubs his eyes, conceding defeat. There’s no way he’s going to get any sleep, so he might as well be productive.
He slides out of bed and grabs his backpack before quietly slipping out. It’s not really due for a few days but he has an American Lit paper and it beats lying there in the dark ignoring screams and counting all the tiny fractures in his heart.
The house is quiet. Some of the brothers haven’t even come home from the parties. Billy is hoping when they do they’ll all head up to bed and ignore him in the lounge.
He doesn’t want to see anybody when it feels like he’s lived several lives since this morning. At this point he’s just feral, hardly human. It hurts, the ache in his chest. At the same time though, there’s such a bittersweet relief. Steve knows, and what’s more, Billy wasn’t crazy. They do have chemistry, even if Steve can’t see it.
But he can’t keep turning it around in his head, especially while he’s still tipsy. He has to get out of this headspace.
On the way to the lounge he decides to swing by the kitchens for a snack and maybe a gatorade. The cooks are seasoned frat professionals and they tend to have at least a few things prepared Saturday night in advance. Sometimes it’s overly healthy, but that works for him.
Billy flips on the light and nearly jumps out of his skin when he sees what looks like a black cloaked figure. Christ, maybe he’s dreaming.
The figure turns from where it’s hunched over a bowl of bananas, mouth full.
“Christ, Munson,” Billy drops his backpack and covers his face with his hands. “I thought you were the fuckin’ hat man.”
Munson smiles around his banana, “So’ry.”
Billy lets his shoulders fall, “No worries. Though I wish you would actually lay off the potassium. Christ, my ears would thank you for a cramp some nights.”
“Why?”
“Because, man… we gotta sleep sometimes,” Billy rolls his eyes and flops down in the seat next to Munson’s.
Eddie turns beet red. “You… can hear us?”
Billy remembers too late that he and Steve had more or less agreed to not talk about Munson’s girlfriend. Argyle had been weirdly adamant about leaving him be. ‘Don’t rush the dude, that’s just not your business,’ were Argyle’s exact words.
“Whoops,” Billy cringes a bit. “But… I mean come on, man. Your girlfriend screams like she’s getting murdered. And it’s almost every night. Of course we noticed.”
Munson lets out a noise like a rat caught in a trap and hunches into the collar of his fluffy black robe. He looks chalky pale, like he got caught by a cop.
“And I mean, hey, good on you, dude. Like I’m pretty sure you’re having the kind of sex only lesbians have.” Then Billy remembers Carver and nervousness creeps in. “Not that… jeez, not in like a gross homophobic way.”
“Lesbians?” Munsons squeezes the remaining banana in his hands into a pulp.
“Christ.” Billy gives up and sags against the counter. “It’s been a really weird night, man. I just… I was just trying to make a joke about your girlfriend. Nothing weird.”
Munson blinks with those big brown doe eyes. “My girlfriend?”
“Yeah, but I really meant no offense by it, I swear.” Billy held up his hands.
Munson stares at him a beat, and then he lets out the tiniest nervous giggle. “Girlfriend.”
Then he full on laughs, throwing his head back.
“Oh, or… not girlfriend?” Billy frowns. “I guess.”
Munson still laughs, harder and more full bodied.
“Well now this is just mean, Munson. If this is how you treat a lady, I’ll go up there and steal her for myself.” Billy licks his lower lip.
Munson’s hand shoots out and he grabs Billy, smearing bananas all over Billy’s arm. “Do. Not.”
Billy winces, yanking his arm away, and reaches for a paper towel to wipe his hand off.
“She’s like… really classy.” Munson says sheepishly. “She’d be mortified you heard her in my room. Please don’t.”
“I wasn’t really gonna wake a chick up who you left in bed.” Billy rolls his eyes. “What kind of guy do you take me for?”
Munson shrugs. “Same kind as me, that’s why I don’t want you to piss her off. I’m serious.”
Billy tosses the slimy paper towel on the counter and crosses his arms. “So she’s classy. What is she? Tri Delt?”
Munson sighs. “No.”
“Zeta?”
“No!”
“Don’t tell me she’s one of your theater friends?” Billy frowns.
“Hargrove, stop.”
“Does Eden know her? I bet she-”
Munson grabs at him again, looking wild. “Hargrove, listen. Don’t talk to anyone about this, ok?” She’s like… not that kind of girl. She’s classy, ok? Rich and like… going places. She doesn’t want this. You haven’t told anyone already, have you?”
“No. I mean, Steve knows, obviously. And honestly I would ask Patrick and Matt across the hall. I assume Carver.” Billy shrugs with one shoulder. “Argyle told us to, like, protect your privacy or whatever?”
Eddie just nodded vaguely, looking only marginally less unhinged. His hair was mussed, and there was a rapidly developing hickey high on his chest.
“What’s with all the secrecy, anyway?” Billy gasped, and then grinned, “Is she a professor?”
“No, Jesus. She’s just… way the fuck out of my league. Like stratospherically out of my league.” Munson shakes his head and lets go of Billy’s shoulder.
“How stratospheric?”
“Super stratospheric. Like… Buzz Aldrin couldn’t land her.”
Billy whistled. “I have to know.”
Munson sighs. “Look, I’m eating bananas at 3 am. I’m a fucking loser. She’s sleeping to get to her 8 am and she has like a 4.5 GPA and her parents paid for a room in the library or something like that. I can’t talk about it because I’m just… a pressure reliever.”
Billy raises his brows.
Munson doesn’t miss the implication. “Yeah pretty much. I guess I just have slightly more functions than a vibrator.”
Billy grabs a banana for himself, because all the banana talk was making him hungry. “But you’ve been going on like a year now.”
“Ten months, two and a half weeks, three days and well… three hours.”
Billy tries to raise his brows even more but he doesn’t have any room.
Munson leans against the counter and rubs the back of his neck. “Being in l-love with her is one of my many functions.”
Billy almost feels like he could cry. Which is stupid. It’s silly. “That’s sad as fuck, dude.”
Munson sighs, slumping a little more. “Yeah, but what are you gonna do?”
“I dunno what you’re gonna do. I’m gonna sympathize.” Billy says.
“You too?”
“Yeah. At least you’re actually fucking your girl.” Billy mutters.
Eddie shakes his head, hair flopping. “Yeah. Been there too, big time.”
Billy peels his banana, “Oh yeah?”
“Yeah. Same girl, too,” Munson says with a sad little flop of his bangs. “Got me wrapped around my finger since… God. Forever.”
Billy shook his head. “Damn. You, me, and Carver gotta go out sometime.”
“C-Carver?”
Billy nods. “Yeah. He was just telling me about his dating troubles. I’m sure you’ve heard at least some of it.”
“Oh. Right.” Munson nods back almost absently, looking kind of pale again.
“But, hey. You’re fucking your dream girl!” Billy pats Munson’s shoulder uncertainly. “Bring her a banana! Woo her ass, I dunno. She’s gotta be into you at least a little.”
“You think?” Munson looks so innocent like Billy hasn’t heard him do the least classy things ever to his classy girl.
“Your one year anniversary is coming up? I dunno. Don’t take advice from me, I don’t notice anything, apparently. Billy sighs, leaning forward on his elbows and taking a bite. “It’s been a really weird fuckin’ night, so seriously don’t take my advice.”
Eddie nods slightly, frowning in confusion.
Billy wants to burst into tears or something like that. He thought telling Steve would just end the world, and now the world is apparently still spinning. Munson’s in tragic love too.
Coming out once doesn’t make coming out again any easier. So he resists the impulse to dump the whole sordid tale on Munson, even if he kind of wants to. Because Steve just came out. Billy can’t ruin this time with his own stupid hopeless feelings.
So instead he takes another bite and gets up to grab a gatorade from the fridge, shoving it into the pocket of his sweat shorts.
“Sorry, man, I’m tired. Just rambling. If you ever want to talk about your girl, I’m here for ya, ok?” Billy says.
“Thanks. Uh… you too. You know, if you ever…” Munson peters out, gesturing weakly.
Billy cackles and it comes out way too forced, but he commits to it anyway. “Well, you know me. I have 99 bitches but not one’s a problem.”
Eddie laughs a little, toying with the messy banana peel nervously.
Billy pats Munson on the shoulder and walks back to his room without a second thought, fully leaving his backpack behind. He was supposed to go downstairs.
But Steve is asleep so peacefully. Billy stands at the door and just stares. Steve always sleeps splayed out like a starfish, one of his feet dangling over the side of the bed. Tonight he has his mouth open, drooling slightly.
Billy has kissed that mouth. He wishes he could go back in time and slow that moment down forever.
Steve was still the worst person to fall in love with, the most unforgivable. And now it would be even harder because Steve had said it so strongly tonight. They would only ever be friends.
Billy wants so badly for anything to be different. He wishes suddenly he’d gone to any other school, anywhere else on earth. He wants to be in Eddie’s place because surely it would be better to be something than nothing at all.
Or is this better. Maybe now he can finally accept-
“B’lly?” Steve still has his eyes closed. “Close th’ door.”
Billy freezes for a moment, before shutting the door gently, plunging the room back into semi-darkness.
By the light of the streetlamp outside and the Frat’s shitty old alarm clock, he can just make out Steve scooting over and raising the blankets on his bed.
“C’mon,” He says.
Billy thinks of what Munson said as he crawls in next to Steve. He tosses the gatorade across the room and settles next to that warm body he knows all too well. Steve pulls up the fuzzy blanket that his mom bought him for Hanukkah last year, the one that smells like weed and Steve. The bed feels scorching hot, and Steve’s long limbs immediately lash around Billy, holding him with the perfect tightness. Steve presses his chest to Billy’s back and sighs, his minty-beer breath brushing the back of Billy’s neck. Billy’s skin prickles everywhere they touch, with almost the same sting as embarrassment.
That this is just one of his many functions. That in some ways he should let go, but he was meant to love Steve like this. Maybe he couldn’t have helped it.
Steve hums. “Promise. N’thing will change, right? We won’t be weird?”
Billy feels like he’s shattered, held together by Steve’s limbs, squeezing tight.
“Yeah,” He says, ignoring the tears that get squeezed free.

Is it casual now?
Tumblr media
Pairing: Luke x Reader
Warnings: Illusions to sex
Summary: You’re supposed to be friends with benefits but someone caught feelings. Based on Casual by Chappell Roan.
—————————————————————————————————————
“I love you but you’re a loser” Clarisse said, shaking her head at you.
“I know I’m stupid” You looked down, picking at your fingers. The shame rose in your chest. How could you let this drag on for so long?
You couldn’t get away from him. Hanging around even though rumors hung even higher in the air. It was sickening really how you let him walk all over you like a welcome mat. But you’ve known him for so long and his mom loves you.
It was easy to fall back and remember where it all started, how soft his lips felt when they first touched yours.
“Baby, no attachment” Luke had whispered in your ear. He’d go on to kiss your forehead and then your ear and go down. All the way.
Yet it never was casual. Not for you, at least.
Your eyes always managed to meet from across the field and nothing ever could settle the feeling in your heart.
Always waiting one step behind him, longing.
Your heart ached for more, more of him. More of you.
A note found itself slipped in your backpack. You met Luke in the Hermes cabin that night when every camper had been gone at a campfire event.
“We can’t stay here for too long, Chris and Betty will be wondering where I went.”
Your heart jolted at hearing about the girl Luke had been seeing. A daughter of Aphrodite, she was everything you were not.
But all you did was nod and move in closer. Your body heat stuck to his while you two did what you always did.
And after it was all over he would kiss your forehead before putting his clothes back on and leaving. Just like every other time.
__________________________________________
“You know, there have been some, uh rumors going around” Lily, Luke’s half sister, turned to you.
The fire crackled and you looked up to meet her gaze.
“What kind of rumors?”
She sighed and reached out to grab your hand, “Some campers have been saying that you and Luke are dating.” You could feel your heart start to pound.
“I-“
“But he said that all you two had done was sleep together.”
The pounding in your heart sank, “What?” you whispered.
Of course you were just some girl Luke was banging. That’s all you would ever be.
Even after the rumors and whispers and what Luke had said, you still fell asleep that night dreaming of living with Luke in some shitty apartment. You could water the flowers and make breakfast in the morning but none of it mattered.
Yet the next time during capture the flag, he found you in the woods.
“Hey” He grinned.
“Hi” You brushed past him, desperate to get away.
“Woah girlie, what’s wrong?” He grabbed your hand.
The anger rose in your chest.
Shaking him off you snapped at him, “I’m just some girl you bang? Or is that what you told Chris and Lily?”
A dumbfounded look crossed his face, “Why are you upset? You know I wanted something casual.”
You have never felt more stupid in your life. It was you who agreed to be casual. It was you who followed him around like a love sick puppy dog. It was you who left your favorite bra among his things. Because maybe if he saw it, he would want you as something more.
“I guess I thought I meant more to you” You shook your head. The leaves crunched beneath your shoes as you walked away. It was a beautiful day but you couldn’t enjoy it with the ringing in your ears.
“We’re not together!” He shouted.
Tears brimmed your eyes as you whipped around at him, “Go to hell.” You were done holding your tounge trying to act cool.
It seemed as if your fate was always to catch his eye from across the room even after your quarrel. It was the one thing that would never go away.
It didn’t matter how many times you stained your pillow with tears or sobbed to Clarisse about how much you liked him.
No amount of space would make him want a relationship with you. He wouldn’t scream from the rooftops about how he loved you. He’d bounce around whether it be Betty or the next girl.
You never did get your favorite bra back.

Oh shit the Yandere Doflamingo and that scene from Beauty & the Beast "If she doesn't eat with me, she doesn't eat at all." is so Doffy 🫠
Extra points if he calls her "princesa" which is Spanish (in OP world it would be Dressrosan I guess?) for princess. It has this very nice sound in Spanish.
Extra extra points if he never called any previous royalty by their title bcs why should a Celestial Dragon call anyone royalty? He's the only real royalty! (in his head) But then he calls reader princess (not putting the Reader's name after the title bcs it's still Doffy) It acts as an endearment mostly, but the servants & his crew are like "are we dreaming, did he actually call a princess princess, wtf is happening?"
Would be even better if he sometimes called her "mi princesa" (my princess) he'd be so comforting and such a KIND KING with her.
We need a scene where he gets on a bent knee and takes her hand and kisses her knuckles. Maybe when he saves her from an assassin from the enemy that ruined her country, assuring her nobody will hurt her in Dressrosa? He could cover her eyes with his hand so she doesn't see him decapitate the man after he gets all the information out of him.
Doffy can 100% pretend to be a nice guy the thing is how much patience does he have to endure it ie the time period, cus I think the mask falls of quick if he isn't careful. Though, he was called a charming devil... But yeah, he'll need to tone everything else down around Reader. It'd be so funny.
Not that he'll let his princess escape the gilded cage of strings he spent his time weaving around her even after she sees the reality of the King of Dressrosa...
Maybe she sees him decapitate one of the dukes that got on his nerves? Maybe she hears how he snaps at Violet when she suggests Reader is a "spoiled princess" in an attempt to save her and Doflamingo grabs her by the throat and squeezes her neck and nearly breaks it from absolute rage.
"Yes, but that's how princesses are supposed to be. They can be like that because they have a strong king to protect them. Weak kings can't protect anything."
And then his guards catch his princess trying to flee the next night. How can she be so ungrateful and try to leave? He gave her everything! He wasn't even cruel! He was good with her!
Well, he knows the solution to that little escape attempt...
After all, kings can marry princesses, can't they...
And Dressrosa needs a queen. If she wants to keep his cruelty in check in court, perhaps she should just marry him... having her sit on his lap on his throne as he listens to the rabble of the dukes and whatnot would probably stay his fingers from twitching... His fingers would be too busy cradling her to do anything cruel.
Ugh, and maybe he always brings her pink roses or things she likes just as he always scoured for food for his mom... 😭😭😭 What if he always bends his knees and slouches his spine or sometimes when she is sitting in an armchair he squats to talk to her? What if he gets to finally talk about all the books he reads because Reader is such a great listener and the excitement on her face as she listens to him talk about the recent book he read makes him talk about it more just so he can have her smile all to himself... And then she reads a book she likes to him and he nearly falls asleep on her lap. His mother always read him books in Mariejois while little Doflamingo sat on her lap.
He'd be so protective of her, he wouldn't let her out of the palace unless he is with her or one of his executives. Beause when his mother left Mariejois, she got sick beause his father could not take care of her. His princess and his mother are both flowers that can only survive in the best garden, where they are tended to and spoiled by all the luxuries the world can provide. It's where they bloom the brightest.
Only in the garden of a god can flowers like his mother and Reader be safe and live life.
"Silly little thing... You won't last a day out there in that cruel, ruthless world. Stay here with your king."
Excuse me while I squeal and clutch at my heart. Prior yandere Doffy ask here.
Any time I hear "My princess," in any given context, all I see is this absolutely beautiful scene from The Mummy:
It just needs to be a fic, doesn't it? At the rate I'm falling for Doflamingo, it needs to be its own fic. Your prompt is spectacular, thank you so much for adding to the great simpening for the King of Dressrosa. The head in the lap, the reading to him as he slowly falls asleep: my heart can simply not take such sweetness and softness from the king.
This is so incredibly romantic, thank you for steering me in a direction I need to go in for it. There's so many things I want to write for this lanky man: the marine doctor in impel down, yandere Doffy, his Sapsorrow spinoff with Rosinante, kissing booth kisses, I love him. Send help.

The Beta Test | Chapter 2
Tumblr media
[Yandere M x Gn Reader]
Tumblr media
Local party animal and known social butterfly [name] wakes up to find that they've been abducted by their very reclusive and very wealthy classmate. Why, you might ask, did he do this? Well for one reason of course! He needs to know how he's going to talk to his crush! So now, with their freedom on the line, [name] has to figure out how to get this kid with the one of his dreams or risk never leaving at all. Lots of weird conversations ensue, of course.
1.6 k words Tw. Swearing
Chapter 1 Table of Contents
You stayed shivering on the floor of the cell for what you guessed to be the next few hours. There were no windows in the little room you had been stuffed into, and even the little dim lights under the cabinets on the other side of the bars had been turned off. They had shut off a few minutes after Javier had left, leaving you in near absolute darkness. Over the course of however long you had been in there, your mind had become increasingly clear.
You had fallen asleep after a certain point. Like, what else was there to do? When you woke up again, it felt like your spine had been bent into thirteen different directions. This sucked, to say the least. Your freedom for him getting with some girl? What a freaking weirdo. You sighed as you stretched out as best as you could and tried not to think about the absolute mess of a man that could probably harm you with little remorse.
Still, all you could really do was wait for Javier to come back. So, that’s what you did.
It wasn’t clear how long you had been sitting there, staring at the cabinets and trying to imagine what lay in them, before a beeping noise came muffled from the other side of the door. Your bleary eyes widened before narrowing sharply. A twinge of annoyance ran through you as a head peeked into the room. This little asshole stared at you like you were some kind of rabid animal. Still, he shuffled in.
“ Hey uh, you’re probably hungry cause of the drugs and all. I brought you something,” he said. He walked over to stand in front of your cell. In his hands was a tray of what looked like something edible. Honestly, it was the least he could do.
“ I would’ve had a…someone else deliver it to you, but I think we should kinda uh get to know each other a bit more. Since you know, you’re gonna help me and all,” he laughed a little and raised the dishes out to you slightly. You could only blink at his audacity. But hey, you were pretty hungry.
The pit in your stomach had been a big pain in your ass for who knows how long, and you doubted that a hunger strike would really get you anywhere. You let a groan out in frustration as you threw your head back and started to stand.  It was a slow and shitty process; all your joints were cracking like a glowstick. You should not be having this hard of a time in your twenties. Maybe it was time to go see a chiropractor or something. Surely someone knew a good one that wouldn’t break your bank or back.
Walking up to the metal bars you realized that this was the first time you had ever been this physically close to Javier. He must’ve been thinking the same thing because he was shifting around so much you would’ve thought that he had to go use the bathroom or something. Still, you wordlessly held out your hands with a blank stare. He looked at you silently for a few moments, absolutely flabbergasted I'm sure, and went rigid. You rolled your eyes.
“ For fuck’s sake man, just give me the food,” you said, pretty exhausted all around. Your sure you sounded like a stay-at-home military mom with 5 kids after picking them up from school or something. Not a good look at all. Whatever. Being held captive wasn’t exactly the vibe you wanted to put out either, but here you were.
“ Huh! Oh yeah.. That. Sorry, sorry. Here you go,” he said meekly and attempted to pass you your meal, finally, but there was just one issue. It was kind of weird how neither of you had noticed nor thought about the fact that the plate might be too big to actually fit through the bars. As the plastic dish was stopped by the immovable steel (or whatever metal it was actually made of. How should you know?) you pressed your lips into a thin, tight line. You raised your head to see the gloomy man going through what you could guess were the five stages of grief all at once.
Yeah, Javier looked like he was on the cusp of shattering like a lego building does when dropped from the twelfth story.
“Dude…” you whispered, also absolutely devastated because you were hungry, duh.
“ Uhhh, umm.”
The guy couldn’t even get a single word out; He only kept trying to shove the plate into your cell. The room was filled with only the sounds of dull tapping. You could only stare on dumbly, lips parted in absolute disbelief.
“ Hey it’s um, it’s not going to get through,” you said. It was like your words went in one ear and out the other. It was like he was a robot, trying to do an action even though it was physically impossible. You noticed his trembling hands and his quivering lip almost immediately, and you shook your head. You reached through the bars and grabbed the plastic dish, stopping the weak motions.
“ It’s not gonna work man. Let it go.”
It was like you had backhanded him or something. His dark eyes went wide and he actually jumped back from you. You were left in a pretty uncomfortable position there while he bumped back into a table. His chest was heaving pretty deeply, and his string bean body was splayed out in all sorts of awkward angles. You stood there, with your back still hurting as the one who kidnapped you in the first place stood trembling 5ft away.
Well, that was a total waste of time.
He seemed to realize that he was acting very, very strangely and cleared his throat. Javier ran his hands through his flat, dark hair, clearly stressed. He straightened up, pushing on the high-quality marble counters with shaky arms.
“ I uh, sorry. I should’ve thought of that haha. Guess that just shows how useless I am,” he laughed weakly, and you grimaced at the way he glanced to the side. You rolled your eyes, the hunger had really started to whittle down your already tiny amount of patience. The plate of food, which you still could not pull into your cell by the way, smelled stupidly good. I mean, if you really tried, you could still be able to eat. Though as you held it up, you noticed that there was nothing for you to eat with. You huffed.
“ You’re fine, man. Can you get me a fork?”
“ I’m fine? Yeah, you’re right,” he sighed out of relief. He laughed as he waved a finger at you. “ I think… I think I can see why you get along with people so well. “ You raised a brow at his words. He stood tall, finally done with whatever emotional rollercoaster he had gone through in like under two minutes.
“ I mean, you’re really good at talking to people. I mean we’re already having some fun memories, right? I mean, I know we’re not friends, not yet at least, but um, this is good! You can help me better if you’re more comfortable with me and stuff haha,” he said while rubbing his arm. You could only blink at the audacity of this man.
“ Fun memories? Like what?” You couldn’t help the confused hiss that left your lips.
“ Oh you know, like right now. I made a mistake and um, you were all reassuring and stuff. Like I said I know we’re not friends, but um it was really nice how you kept me calm and stuff. I know that I’m probably gonna remember this for a long time,” Javier giggled a little bit at the end.
“ Ah okay. Well, that’s cool and all, but can you please get me a fork?”
“ Yeah, it is cool. I’m glad that I came and talked to you today. I almost didn’t, haha. I was um, kinda nervous. I mean… yeah this was nice. I’m gonna go now. See you later,” he said. His gloomy expression had become noticeably brighter. He gave a little way and smiled before turning to the door.
“ Wha- hey wait!” You cried out, but he just kept walking. The door was shut once again and the same mechanical beeping rang out. You stood dumbfounded, an offended scoff leaving your mouth as those stupid lights dimmed down. The food in your hands couldn’t easily be eaten without utensils, and even if you did, your hands would probably be super messy. Your stomach rumbled as you sighed in defeat.
It was awkward to move the plate down to the ground while your arms were still outstretched beyond the bars, but you managed to do it. You stared at it longingly. Maybe if you looked at it long enough the flavor would somehow miraculously end up on your tongue. You slumped over in slight defeat.
While you had always assumed to an extent that Javier was socially inept, you would’ve never guessed it would be this bad. Like, the dickwad didn’t even spare you a second glance as he left. Did he even hear you? Was it even possible to be that wrapped up in oneself? You could kinda feel bad for the guy if the current setting was literally anywhere else.
If you were back in the quiet corner of the library, then sure, you might feel for the guy. Hell, if he had asked you to help him like a regular fucking person would, you probably would’ve jumped at the chance. But here? Now?
You groaned as you slumped over. If he was this bad, then there was absolutely no way that he was going to get with that girl. Even if you helped. You looked miserably at your plate and bitterly came to the reasonable conclusion that you were probably gonna die here because of that fact alone.
Fucking Javier Galvan, man.

seventeen’s vocal unit when their s/o falls asleep on them
Tumblr media
author’s note: this was requested under the hiphop unit version of this fic by multiple people
synopsis: what the title says
word count: 1.0k | genre: pure fluff | pairings: vocal unit x gn! reader | warnings: mentions of food, wine and nightmares
you were having a picnic with jeonghan in the nature, blanket draped onto the bright green grass, the leftovers of food and empty glasses of juice from your basket sitting on the side, music quietly playing in the background as the two of you laid across the soft material, your head on his arm. a yawn escaped your lips when the pleasant breeze started to hit just perfectly to make you sleepy in the afternoon, being full after the delicious meal. “are you sleepy, angel?” jeonghan asked softly, stopping from humming along the melody. you let out a content hum, snuggling closer to his side. “alright, why don’t we take a nap? i think we deserve it.” he offered, not even needing an answer after he turned towards your form, seeing your closed eyes, smiling softly while already in dreamland. “that was fast.” he chuckled, adjusting his arm so you would be more comfortable. “see you in my dreams, angel.”
joshua was driving the two of you back to your apartment after a date night; you had a wonderful time eating dinner at a fancy restaurant, drinking wine and talking a lot about various topics in life, including how you wanted to buy a dog. “back to the pets, a golden retriver would be such a good choice, now that we were talking about it i got kind of excited.” he made conversation again while looking at the road carefully and slowing down a bit, the rain outside intensifying. you hummed sleepily, the exquisite food and the drinks making you full and the heater being on in the car providing a comfortable warmth, surrounding your body like a blanket. “wow the rain really isn’t stopping, huh? it will be so good to be at home, i know you like this weather, right darling?” he looked at you at the red light only to be met with your sleeping form, slumped to the side, almost sleeping on his shoulder, your hold on his leg loosening. “aww, you look adorable, oh my god.” he whispered, leaning across and kissing your forehead. “i love you so much.”
the train was hurrying towards your destination quickly as woozi sat next to you, his hand in yours while you watched the beautiful scenery, half of his earphones in your ear, listening to your favoutire podcast together. the ride stopped at the next location, allowing passangers to exit and step into the train, making so much noise woozi barely heard the voices coming out of the headphones. “do you mind if i turn the volume up a little? i cannot hear it well.” he asked casually, waiting for your nod of agreement. when you seemed to be unresponsive he thought you couldn’t hear him, so he grabbed the little device lightly and took it out of your ear. “i said, do you mind if i turn up the volume?” he chuckled, trying to search for your eyes to get your attention. what he found made the reason why you didn’t reply to him crystal clear; you dozed off, the podcast and the scenery long fogotten. “this explains everything.” he smiled fondly, leaning in to place a ghostly kiss on your cheek. “looks like i gotta tell you the rest of the episode later.”
it was very late in the evening, you had just woken up with a silent scream, making dk shoot up in bed next to you aswell, him immediately knowing it was one of those nights again. “nightmares, sunshine?” he asked curtly, already knowing his guess was right; sometimes you were so stressed with work you got nightmares in the middle of the night, only his voice being able to calm you down and putting you at ease again. he pulled the covers onto your shoulders, hugging you tightly, tilting the two of you a bit so you flopped on top of him, inviting you to join him for some cuddles, which you did. he held out his arms for you to climb into, going through the all too familiar process one more time. “so, which song would you like to hear tonight?” he quizzed while giggling a bit, granting your wish upon your quiet and barely audible reply, singing the usual comforting melody softly, ready to lull you to sleep. after a few minutes he peeked down at you, seeing exactly what he was expecting; your face mushed into his chest, quiet huffs of air escaping along with your even breathing, no distress visible on your face anymore. he stroked your head, giving it a soft kiss. “sleep well sunshine, i will look after you in the meantime.”
seungkwan was just stepping into the house upon arriving from his morning run, searching after you since you promised you wouldn’t fall back to sleep and have breakfast with him after he took a shower. “babyboo i’m here!” he called out, no response coming from your shared bedroom. he tiptoed down the hallway, in the process noticing a plate of freshly made eggs and orange juice that he assumed had been made not so long before placed on the table, running back and taking a few bites from it. after entering the bedroom he saw a lump of blankets on the bed, your head peaking out, hair messy and eyes heavy, ready to close any second. he climbed into bed, stroking your hair with delicate touches. “thank you for making me breakfast.” he whispered after pulling the covers higher on his body aswell, knowing well he could not get you out of bed anytime soon, going with the flow and promising himself to finish the meal you made. not even a second later he heard your little snores, not having a chance to invite you to join him for the meal. he sighed playfully in disbelief at your antics of going to sleep faster than light. “we will postpone breakfast then. rest well, babyboo.”

Nothing Ever After
Noah Sebastian x Reader x Vinny Mauro
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chapter Fourteen
chapter warnings: tiny mention of implied smut?
team vinny we are so up for the next few chapters :) sorry for the delay on posting this one, the next chapter might also be a little late because I'm soo busy this next week and I haven't had a chance to even begin editing it but as soon as I can I will get working on it because it's my favourite chapter I've written for this story so far and i really can't wait to share it with you!! <3
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
“You don’t have to hide it from me, y’know?” Noah says, his hair falling over his eyes, hand gently placed on your waist as he smiles down at you, “I know how you feel about him.”
“What?”
“Vinny. I’ve seen the way you look at him, it’s okay if you’re in love with him, that’s why I’ve told him to meet us here.”
“Huh?” You laugh, "I'm not in love-"
“Look, he’s on his way.”
You look up and see Vinny walking towards the both of you, something looked different about him, but he was definitely still him.
“So you finally made your decision.” Vin smiles, a sparkle was in his eye that you had never seen before.
“What decision?” You didn't understand what was going on.
“You agreed.” Said Noah, his thumb drawing circles on your hip.
“To what?” You asked.
“I wasn’t too sure at first when Noah suggested it, baby,” Vinny began, “But the more I thought about it, the more I realised I wanted it.”
It finally clicked, and you understood why the both of them were here. A rush of excitement rushed through you, adreneline in your veins as you look between the two men in front of you. Your lips crashed into Vin’s as Noah’s found your neck, you’d had this thought many times before, but you never thought it would actually happen.
“God, I need you both,” you moan, feeling Vinny’s- or was it Noah’s hand cupping your breast, as the others' hand came down to your ass, “Please…”
“What do you think? Should we play nice?” Noah asked Vinny, who nodded his head.
"I think she deserves it."
"Please..." You whimpered, feeling Noah's hot breath tickle your ear as he whispered,
"Get on your knees, princess. Vin's being too kind, I think you need to earn it."
You dropped to your knees in front of Vinny, palming him over his joggers, the ache between your thighs was becoming unbearable as you tugged Vin's boxers down.
“Y/n.” You heard Vin pant as you took him in your mouth, your tongue dancing over his tip before you take him down your throat, Noah's voice whispering praises as he plays with your hair, “y/n…”
“Y/n! Rise and shine!” Vinny shouted, waking you from your nap.
“What the fuck, Vin!” You groaned, rubbing your eyes, “You just woke me up from the best dream I’ve had in years.”
“Oh yeah?” He smirked, “was I in it?”
“You wish.” You groaned, sitting up to stretch your arms, ignoring how your underwear felt slightly damp as you moved, making you feel rather uncomfortable. “What are you doing here anyway?”
“I broke my charger and Jolly’s letting me borrow his. Which one’s his bunk?”
“The one on top of mine.”
“Thanks.” He looks, and then freezes. He stands there in silence for a moment. You panicked internally, wondering if you were moaning his name in your sleep, “Can I ask you something?”
“Sure, I guess.” You say, reaching around to see where you left your phone when you fell asleep to hide the redness of your cheeks.
“It’s going to sound insane.”
Of course, it’s coming from you.” You smirk.
“Y/n, I’m serious.”
“Okay, sorry. Ask away.” You wondered what could be that serious.
“It’s my parent’s 40th wedding anniversary this weekend and they’re having a party, they're renewing their vows...”
“Okay…” You expected him to ask you for help to re-dye his hair or to find something to wear or-
“The thing is... My parents think I have a girlfriend, I’ve never told them I do or don’t, but they’re expecting me to bring someone. I, uh, wanted to ask you because,” you’d never seen Vinny look this nervous in the entire month that you’ve known him, “Well, I thought maybe you could bring your camera, I could tell them my ‘girlfriend’ is a photographer. I’ll make sure I tell them that we’ve broken up next week so they don’t keep asking about you or asking about our plans for the future or-”
"So you want me to be your imaginary girlfriend."
"No- Well, I mean it's not like, I mean you won't-"
“Vinny, it's okay,” you smile, “I’ll do it. I don’t know how I’ll explain it to the rest of the guys-”
“If any of them ask I’ll tell them you’re coming with me just as a photographer, I’ve already thought this through.”
“Wow,” you chuckle, surprised he'd really thought about this, “You certainly have.”
“So you’ll definitely come with me?” He asked, “I think my dad might be calling me later so I’ll let him know.”
“What kind of friend would I be if I said no,” you gave him an innocent smile, “Tell Mr Mauro I said hello.”
“Oh, I was just coming to wake you up.” You hear Noah’s voice, “We’ve checked into our rooms, I’m so glad we’re here for the next few days, I have so much work to get done.” He sighed, reaching for his laptop that he left in his bunk.
“Vin’s just told me his parents are having an anniversary party this weekend and they’ve asked me to be their photographer, isn’t that right, Vin?”
“Yeah," Vin scratches the back of his neck, "They’ve seen some of the pictures y/n's taken from the last few weeks and asked if she was free this weekend. It’s on Saturday night so we’ll stay there and come back on Sunday.”
“Oh that’s great,” Noah smiled, rubbing your shoulder, and all of a sudden seeing Noah and Vin both stood over you, you got a flashback to your dream. “And there you were weeks ago worrying you wouldn’t get booked.” You smiled back at him, agreeing.
"Anyway that's all I had to say," Vin smiled, spotting Jolly's phone charger. You had to look away as he reached up to Jolly's bunk, his sweater raising and exposing the trail of hair below his belly button- "See you guys!"
"Bye Vin." You give him a little wave as he walked off.
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
Once you’ve checked into your room and searched through your suitcase you realised you didn’t really have anything to wear for this type of occasion. You had party outfits, casual outfits, but nothing you could imagine wearing for an anniversary party.
You sent a text to Angela asking if she was busy in the next couple of days and wanted to go shopping with you, you knew her schedule and knew she had nothing going on during your guys' break. It was currently Thursday, and the party was on Saturday night, meaning you and Vinny would have to leave in the morning or the night before to make it to his parent's town in time.
Whilst you were sat on your bed looking online for outfit inspiration, you heard a knock at your door. You throw your phone down on the bed and get up to see who was disturbing you.
“Everything okay?” You ask, letting him in.
“Yeah, I just wanted to see you.” He smiled, shutting the door behind himself.
“You see me pretty much everyday, Noah.” You laughed, sitting back down on your bed.
“Yeah, but like you pointed out the other day, the only time we ever get to spend together alone is when you’re under me or pushed against a wall.” He chuckles, sitting with you, his back against the headboard. “I don’t remember the last time we had a proper conversation.”
“You warned me about how busy the tour life is, this just proves it, doesn't it?” You smiled, “I still can’t believe this past month has been real. I’ll never be able to repay Bryan or you guys for this.”
“I can think of a few ways you can repay me.” Noah smirks, and you shake your head.
“I thought you wanted to spend time with me without-”
“Yeah, yeah, I’m sorry.” He held his hands up, thinking of a way to change the topic. “I don’t know if I ever asked you how you and Bryan met?”
“Through the photography club at school,” you explain, “I changed schools when I had just turned 14 and I had no friends, we had just moved to a new town, so at lunch I spent my time in the art classrooms and it just so happened they were starting a photography club in the class I’d go to. I wasn’t even that into photography or anything, but that's where I met Bryan. He was quite new to the school too and only had a handful of friends, so everyone who already had their friendship groups would sit together and because we didn’t have anyone we were just put together on a separate table. So over the weeks we finally started talking to each other, and realised we had a lot in common, then we just became best friends from there.” You smiled at the memory, wondering if Bryan still remembered it as clearly as you.
“It’s weird to think if that never happened you wouldn’t be here right now.” He said, “So you didn’t even want to get into photography?”
“No,” you laughed, “I guess it just sort of happened.”
“I’m glad it happened,” he smiled, “And I’m glad you’re here.”
As you looked into his eyes, you felt nothing but pure guilt. How could you not tell him about you and Vinny? You were sure he was feeling more for you than he’d let on, and you were about to go to a party with Vinny and pretend to be his girlfriend.
“Noah, look... There’s something I need to tell you.”
*Buzz buzz*
“Shit sorry I really need to take this-” Noah reached for his phone, answering it and rushing to leave your room.
You couldn’t say you didn’t try.
You groaned as he left, reaching for your phone to see if Angela’s replied to your texts yet.
“Ooh what kind of party are you going to ;)”
“I’m not doing anything this afternoon, I could come and pick you up if you want x”
You thought for a moment before you replied to her. You knew whatever Noah’s call was about was probably important, but there’s been countless times where he’s prioritised other things over you.
“I’m ready when you are x” You replied, leaving your phone on the bed as you went to find a hoodie and a pair of shoes, and then your door knocked again.
“I’m so sorry that was one of the guys from our record label asking about-”
“Angela’s coming to pick me up in a minute so I’ve gotta go, sorry Noah.” You snapped, not even bothering to look at him as you walk out of your room, shutting the door behind you and beginning to walk away.
“Y/n? Have I done something?” Noah asked, shaking his head in confusion. You stop in your tracks, thinking before you open your mouth.
“Every time I get a chance to spend time with you, or try to talk to you about something serious, something always comes up. I know things like this are out of your control but it happens too often and it pisses me off.”
“Like when?”
“Like when we’re occupied in bed and you suddenly get a call and you leave me laying there to answer it, like when we make plans and you’ve just so happened to forget you had an interview to do, or when we’re out and you see someone you know and you forget I’m even there. I don’t feel seen with you, Noah.”
“I’m not being funny, y/n, but we aren’t even together. To put it harshly, you always knew the band comes first, and if I remember right you just wanted casual sex, no actual relationship. So why does it bother you so much?”
Your jaw drops in disbelief at his words, he really went there.
“So I don’t mean anything to you?” Your heart was racing in your chest, you felt sick, angry and upset.
“I never fucking said that, did I?”
“You don’t need to say it, I know where I stand with you, Noah.” You argue, and other hotel guests slow down as they walk past, clearly trying to listen in on what’s happening.
“Can we not do this here?” Noah hisses.
“Good idea. I’ll see you later, Noah. I’m going out with Angela, because she cares about me, to buy a dress to wear to Vin’s family party because guess what, I bet on anything that he cares about me a whole lot more than you do.”
“You don’t know how I feel about you, y/n.” Noah says, the sound of defeat in his voice.
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“I’ll see you later, y/n!” He mocks, walking in the opposite direction to you.
“Noah? What the fuck!”
He didn’t answer, he didn’t even bother to look at you.
You groaned, trying not to cry from the frustration, and made your way through the hotel to wait for Angela to pick you up.
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
“So… What’s the occasion? You never told me when I asked.” Angela asked as you both searched through racks of clothes.
“Vinny invited me to his parent’s anniversary party.”
“Oh… So not anything slutty, okay…” She giggled.
“But get this, he told me that his parents think he has a girlfriend, he’s never told him that does or doesn’t, so he wants me to pretend to be his girlfriend for the night.”
“Well that’s a Vinny lie if I’ve ever heard one.”
“What?”
“He totally just said that to get you to go with him so he can show you off. He’s really close with his family, there’s no way they would think he’s dating someone if he hasn’t said he is.”
“Well we’ll see about that then,” you smirk, “But what if I do want to pretend to be his girlfriend for the night, that would definitely piss Noah off.”
“Oh... What’s he done now?” Angela stops looking and turns to you, her hand on her hip.
“Nothing, yet everything, he’s just really annoyed me." You sigh, "He turns up to my room to spend time with me but then he gets a call and he runs out, it’s not like I don’t know his business, surely he should be able to take work calls around me.”
“It sounds like he doesn’t trust you…” She frowned.
“Exactly!”
“Oh my god y/n look!” She pulls out a gorgeous red dress, making you gasp, “Try it on! Try it on!” You claps, handing it over to you.
“I don’t know if red’s my colour…”
“That's even more of a reason for you to try it on and see if it is!” She smirks, “...But I do know it’s Vin’s favourite colour.”
You give her a look, before taking it and heading to the changing rooms to try it on.
“I think it’s a little tight…” You say as you walk out, and Angela’s jaw drops as you do a little twirl, “What do you think?”
“I think you're the most gorgeous girl ever!" She grins, "And I think Vinny's going to ask you to be his girlfriend for real when he sees this.” She suddenly gasps, giving you a serious look as she hands you your phone back. “Send a picture to Noah.”
“Why? He thinks I’m only going as a photographer.”
“What?”
“Vin came up with the plan to tell the guys I was only invited because his parents wanted a photographer, I thought it was a pretty good lie.”
“Vinny came up with that one didn’t he,” she laughed, “I guess they’ll believe it though.”
“Noah did.” You check yourself out in the mirror, and eventually pull your phone out from your bag and take a couple pictures in the mirror. You’d think about whether it was a good idea to send them or not as you shopped for a new pair of shoes.
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
“It’s actually pretty fortunate for you that there aren’t any shows this week,” you say as Vinny drives, “Did you plan the tour around this?”
“Kinda,” he says, looking over his shoulder as he turns onto his road, you wish you knew how he even made driving look so hot, “It's the longest tour we've done and knew we needed a break each month so we don’t all completely burn out, and it just so happened this weekend was during that break.”
Vinny thought it would be a good idea to hire a car from the city the guys were staying in for their break from tour to drive back to his house so the two of you could stay there for the night before taking his car and driving down to his parents town tomorrow.
“I don’t think my roommate’s here at the moment.” He says as he pulls up, parking the car in his driveway.
“Not that it matters,” you chuckle, checking your phone. You had sent the pictures to Noah yesterday, but you hadn’t heard from him since, he hadn’t even seen the messages. “What time have we got to leave tomorrow?”
“Probably around 12.” He says, getting out of the car and unlocking the door.
You smiled as you walked into his house, it was just how you’d pictured it. Framed awards on the walls and tour posters, a massive tv on the wall and a bong that he made sure to clarify was his roomate's. You turn around to see him bringing both yours and his suitcase in from the car, rather surprised by his strength as you see him carry them both up the steps to his porch with ease.
“Your house is so cute.” You smile, and by his reaction, he seemed rather offended.
“Cute?” He raised his eyebrows, as if to say 'seriously?' “Y/n I’m a guy…I live here with a guy… Our house is not cute!”
“Then how would you describe it?” You chuckle as he shuts the door behind him.
“I don’t know… Manly? Homely?"
You rolled your eyes, watching Vin put the keys away before he insisted on giving you a house tour, showing you around room by room.
“And this is where the magic happens!” He opens the door to the basement, putting his arm out as if to say ‘ladies first!’
“Do you know how creepy that sounds?” You laugh, slowly descending the staircase to his basement.
“This is where my drums are, I do my drum streams down here-”
“Can you give me a private show?” You gasped, but to your disappointment Vinny laughed and shook his head.
“I’ve been playing basically every other night for the last month! Surely you’ve heard enough.”
“Please?” You plead, watching as he tries to hide the smile on his face.
“Maybe later.” He gives in, walking you back up the stairs to his kitchen after showing you around the room.
“Can I request a song?”
“Depends,” he says, shutting the basement door, “Do I know it?”
“How am I supposed to know what you know, or don’t?”
“What is it?” He asked, reaching into his fridge, pulling out a sprite. “Want a drink?”
“Yes please,” you smiled, “I heard you played ‘somebody told me’ the night I wasn’t feeling well and stayed on the bus and you haven't played it again after…”
“So you want me to play it for you?” He asked, handing you a drink.
“Please? I’m coming to your parents’ anniversary party as your fake girlfriend, don’t you think you owe me something?”
“You’ve got a point there,” he acknowledges, “I need to shower first and pack for the weekend, but then I’ll do it.”
“Yay!” You grinned, “Can I take a shower after you?”
“Of course.” He smiled softly, “Also if you want my bed tonight I’ll sleep on the couch. I changed the sheets before I left for tour so they’re fresh-”
“I can’t kick you out of your own bedroom…” You frowned, “I’ll have the couch. I don’t care!”
“I will not let you sleep on my couch.” He chuckled, and a thought crossed your mind.
“If we were okay to share a bed the first night we met then I’m sure we’ll be okay again tonight, right?”
“If you're comfortable with that then we can.” He smiled, “I’m gonna go get in the shower, then it’ll be all yours. But in the meantime make yourself at home.”
“Thank you.” You said, watching as he left, walking up the stairs.
You made your way to his living room, getting comfy on the couch and scrolling through your phone. You tried not to think about Noah, but you couldn't help but wish he'd text you back. Whilst Vin was in the shower you considered calling him, but you didn't want to come across clingy. Maybe he just needed to calm down.
"I left my fucking shampoo in my bag." You heard Vinny laugh as he ran down the stairs, a white towel wrapped around his hips as he threw his suitcase onto the sofa beside you and searched through it.
You took a deep breath to calm your mind as you tried to be respectful, but you couldn't help but look at him. His wet curls, his bare chest, the bracelet on his wrist, the veins on his arms... You blinked, trying to concentrate on your phone but he definitely seemed to notice you staring, smirking before he walked back up the stairs.
You already knew it was going to be a long weekend.

Do you take requests? I had a prompt to send in, but I wasn’t sure. I saw a fic for another fandom where the guy was having wet dreams in bed with y/n female reader and I thought it would be a great smut Spencer friends-to-lovers story. ❤️
Wildest Dreams
I haven’t before, but I’d love to take requests! Thank you:)
synopsis: Spencer Reid has a wet dream about his good friend and coworker. He’s highly embarrassed from where his unconscious mind wandered, so he avoids her. That is until she forces him to tell her what happened. When he does, her reaction is not what he expected. Had to add some angst because it’s who I am. Hope you like this! i hate my smut
content: 18+ MDNI, oral (m and f receiving), penetration
The team piles onto the jet after a long case. All of your faces read tired, especially Spencer’s. He plops down on the couch, something he has practically claimed as his own.
“Mind if I join you?” You ask him. “Can’t sleep on the seats.”
He scoots over, allowing space for you. Gratefully you sit down next to him, leaning your body the opposite way of his onto the arm of the couch.
Both of you are dead asleep within twenty minutes, which is highly unusual given your records of mild insomnia.
The two of you sleeping in such close proximity isn’t strange at all like one might think. You’ve been friends since you joined the BAU two years ago.
You started out as an assistant of sorts. You were still in the academy, but you were given the opportunity to work on real cases, just not in the field.
Spencer and you clicked that week since he was the only agent, other than the talented Penny Garcia, that you spent the most time with. He was off the field due to his injury from getting shot in the leg.
Watching his mind work was fascinating. It seemed like he knew everything, and honestly he kind of does. He taught you a lot that week, showing you how to apply all of the psychology and people-reading you’d learned in the academy. Being in the BAU with him was more beneficial than your classes at the academy.
You’re woken up to the sound of your own name. It’s coming from Spencer’s lips. He’s still asleep. You wake him up, worried he’s having another nightmare.
“Reid,” you say softly to not wake up the others. “Spencer. Hey, I’m right here.”
He stirs awake from your gentle shaking, his face beat red. “Y/n?” He sounds like he’s still partially asleep.
“Are you okay?” You ask him, voice still in a whisper. “Did you have another bad dream?”
Spencer shakes his head. Then he nods. He seems confused. Embarrassed.
“It’s okay. It wasn’t real,” you comfort him, patting his knee gently.
He pulls the blanket over his lap more, causing you to move your hand. “I know,” he sighs, nodding.
“We should be landing soon,” you say. “Maybe you’ll get better rest at home.”
Spencer shrugs slightly and turns his face away from you. You don’t take it to heart. You know how these dreams can be for him. Real. Terrifying. You know because you have them too.
When the plane touches ground and comes to a stop, all of you get off the plane gratefully. It’s late. Nearly 2 in the morning. Hotch tells everyone to get home safely.
“Do you want a ride?” You ask Spencer once both of you have your bags situated.
“I’ll just get a cab,” he tells you quickly.
“Really, it’s no problem,” you say, “It’s late.”
“It’s fine, Y/n.”
His voice has been clipped and distant for the last half hour. Why is he acting this way? It couldn’t have been something you did because you don’t remember doing anything.
Instead of fighting him on whatever it is that’s up his ass right now, you nod and walk to your car.
The two of you take turns driving sometimes. It saves gas money and allows you company on the 40ish minute drive from your neighborhood in D.C. to Quantico. You don’t live too far away from each other, only an 11 minute drive. It would’ve been no problem to take him home. But he opted for alone time. You guess you can’t blame him.
“Are you going out with us tonight?” You question your friend, rolling your chair to his desk.
“I don’t think so,” Spencer answers quickly.
“Why not? We haven’t had a team outing in ages. Let loose, Reid.”
“Y/n,” he warns.
“Fine,” you huff, rolling your eyes. “Movie night then?”
“Movie night?”
“Yeah. Just you and me. That new horror movie is on HBO now,” you wiggle your eyebrows, knowing his love for horror can persuade him.
“I don’t know,” Spencer says, pressing his lips together. “I don’t think it’s a good idea.”
“You don’t think what’s a good idea?” Your eyebrows raise.
The two of you have had movie nights multiple times in your two year friendship friendship.
“Just leave it alone, okay?” Spencer says, shrugging you off.
You don’t want to make a scene at work, so you roll your way back to your own desk and continue the paperwork from the last case.
Spencer has never acted this way toward you. Sure, he’s been secluded and reserved, but he’s never been one to shrug you off, to push you away.
Something is up. Something has made him close himself off. He can’t keep shutting you out like this, not without telling you why.
So after work, you try to catch him before he leaves. Unfortunately, Morgan decides to tell you and Emily a story, and Spencer slips out of the bullpen while you listen.
You’re a confrontational person. And your closest friend is avoiding you. This means one thing. You force him to tell you what’s up.
You knock on his door, not too loudly. He opens it after a few seconds.
“Y/n, what are you-?” He starts.
“What did I do?”
“What?” He huffs softly.
You fold your arms, standing in front of him with a serious face. “You’ve been avoiding me for days. I don’t know why, so tell me. What did I do to make you mad at me?”
Spencer’s face softens. “I’m not mad you.”
“Then why are you being so short with me? Why are you avoiding me? You’ve been a little bit of a dick.”
“I’m not avoiding you,” he says then pauses. “Okay, I’ve been avoiding you. But I’m done now. You’re right, it’s dickish.”
It’s always a little funny when Spencer curses. It never sounds natural.
“Why though?” You stay stern, needing to know what’s up with him.
“Come in,” he motions his head toward his living room.
You oblige, making your way to his couch. He sits beside you. You’ve been on this couch a thousand times together.
“So?” You question.
“You’re really going to make me say it?”
“Yes, I am,” you tell him.
Spencer sighs. “When we were on the couch the other night on the jet, I had a dream…”
“Yeah, I know that,” you say.
“It was about you.”
“Did something bad happen?”
He shakes his head. “Well, it depends on what you think is bad. We were in bed together.”
A laugh bursts through you. “Wait, you’ve been avoiding me because you had a wet dream about me?”
“Don’t call it that,” he groans.
“That’s what it is!” You chuckle, a big grin on your face. “That’s no big deal, Spence. It happens to people all the time. You have no control over what your unconscious mind conjures up.”
“So you’ve had one?” He asks.
“No.”
The blood has rushed to his cheeks deeply. He’s embarrassed.
“I haven’t thought about you like that in my sleep,” you tell him. “But perhaps I have while awake.”
Spencer lifts his head off the back of the couch. His eyebrows are furrowed. “What?”
It’s your turn to blush. “Yeah. I mean, the thought has occurred a few times.”
“I don’t quite know how to respond to that,” he presses his lips together.
It’s cute when he does that. It’s nerdy and shy.
“You don’t have to,” you say softly. “I just wanted you to know you’re not in the wrong for having a dream about me.”
The two of you have absentmindedly inched closer to each other. Your hand rests on his leg.
“Are you about to kiss me?” You ask, looking into his brown eyes.
“Only if you want me to,” he says.
“Show me what we did in your dream,” you whisper in his ear.
What happens next is not something you ever thought you and Spencer would do. You weren’t lying when you said you’ve thought about it, but you never thought he would’ve felt the same.
Your lips make contact softly at first, but his neediness takes over and his mouth dominates yours.
You always thought Spencer would be more of a gentle lover, but it turns out he’s an all consuming powerhouse.
He pulls you onto his lap, his hands squeezing your thighs and ass. He’s grown into himself well in the past year, and he’s definitely gotten more confident. You like this side of Spencer. A lot.
He tells you to lift your arms up, and you obey the order, eager for him to do more. Your shirt comes off quickly and his hands leave your ass and grab your tits. He’s not too rough, but he’s definitely not gentle.
You smile down at him before connecting your lips to his neck, careful to leave your marks in places he could easily hide under his clothes.
“Was I on top or bottom in your dream?” You ask, voice low and raspy.
“Both,” he answers, fingers working on the buttons of your pants.
You slide off of him and shimmy out of your work pants. You stand before him in mix matched underwear. He doesn’t care that they’re different colors. He wants them gone.
He lifts his shirt above his head and tosses it to the ground. “We should take this to my room. There’s not much space on the couch.”
“Yes sir. Or should I say doctor?” You wiggle your eyebrows.
“Yes, yes you should,” he grins, obviously liking the use of his title on your lips.
He follows you into his bedroom. You’ve laid in his bed on late nights multiple times. But he never shared it with you. He must’ve been too scared his true feelings would come out at night like they did on the jet.
“Lay down,” he says softly.
“I thought I would do something for you first,” you say, pulling him in by the belt loop.
“No need, sweetheart.”
“But I want to,” you tell him.
He nods. “As you wish.”
After slipping down his pants, you position yourself on your knees. He hands you a pillow so you don’t get sore. That makes you smile.
You take just the tip at first after running your thumb along it. After getting use to the feeling of him in your mouth, your head bobs up and down on him. Spencer’s hands tug on your hair as he finishes in your mouth.
“Your turn,” he says with a smile, looking down at you.
“If you please, doctor.”
His mouth is on your clit in no time. His tongue and lips work magic, causing you to call out his name.
“God, Spencer,” you whine, your hands tangled in his hair. It’s much shorter than it was when you met him, it makes him look older. In a good way.
With a combination of his fingers inside you and mouth working on your bundle of nerves, your legs are shaking and you’re finishing.
Spencer hardly gives you time to catch your breath before his lips are on yours and he’s hovering above you. You don’t mind. You need him.
“Are you ready, darling?” He asks.
When you say yes, he slowly slips himself inside you. He gentle at first, giving you both time to adjust.
His thrusts gradually speed up, and the slow and gentle turns into fast and rough. The sounds of your heavy breaths and moans fill his bedroom.
“Fuck, Y/n,” he groans, hand on your neck.
“Don’t stop,” you breathe out, wrapping your legs around his torso.
It doesn’t take much longer for you both to be moaning loud and shaking once again. You clench around him as you come, causing his own finish to release from him.
You bask in the high of the adrenaline coursing through your body. The two of you breathe heavily, your hearts pounding.
“Wow,” you sigh, moving your hair out of your face. “So, was that as good as your dream?”
“Much better,” Spencer says, rubbing your cheekbone with his thumb gently.

Quarantined
Cw: lab whump, sick whump, injections
Whumpee didn’t remember anything before the lab. They knew that must have had some kind of life because they were sure they didn’t grow up there. When they tried to think of what life was before, they drew a blank. Their mother’s face was just blurry enough that they couldn’t quite put it together. Their dad, was he even there?
Waking from their dream and shaking off the melancholy, they prepared for the day. They waited for their gruel to be pushed through the small window and awaited next directions.
“7.6.G it is time for daily assessments.” The tinny loudspeaker crackled to life.
‘7.6.G, that’s my name here, but, what was it before this?’ Whumpee wondered as they sat back in their facility-issued safety chair, bolted to the floor.
Someone in a white hazmat suit entered the room with a mirrored lens on covering their face so Whumpee couldn’t identify anyone.
“How are you feeling today, 7.6.G?” The suit asked.
“Fine.” Whumpee knew not to speak further lest they be punished. Do not speak unless spoken to, and make it short.
The suit hummed with efficiency as they took Whumpee’s blood pressure and oxygen saturation levels.
“Today is a special day! We are moving forward with testing on the project you’re involved in! This is good news!”
Whumpee smiled back at their reflection in the suit’s lens. The smile didn’t look genuine, Whumpee hoped it would fool the suit anyway. Whumpee had no idea whether it was good news or not in their case.
The suit left and after a while, Whumpee received a similar signal to sit in their chair for treatment.
‘Treatment? I don’t know if that sounds good to me..’
But ever so obedient, Whumpee sat and waited for this treatment. Two suits came in this time. Definitely not the one from the morning, they seemed very serious and carried a special cooler case with them.
“Identify yourself.” The taller suit barked at Whumpee.
“Uh, 7.6.G?”
The one holding the cooler case set it on the table next to Whumpee. Opening the case showed the interior was entirely covered in a packing foam to keep a small vial of clear liquid safe.
The tall one kept Whumpee’s attention as they asked them about how they were feeling and if they had generally good health, Whumpee wasn’t sure what this had to do with anything, and they didn’t really remember anyhow.
“We will go ahead with experiment XY70. You may begin.”
The second suit cleaned Whumpee’s arm with an alcohol pad and inserted a needle into Whumpee’s deltoid muscle. As the contents were pushed in, Whumpee yelped.
“Ow! It stings!”
“Sit STILL!”
Whumpee immediately quieted. They had misbehaved.
The tall one loomed over Whumpee.
“You had better hope you didn’t just ruin this experiment. You are the test subject. The throw away. I could easily find another and get rid of you just as easily. Do you understand? Do you understand that you’re expendable? Do you realize that I have chosen you out of hundreds of others and I have housed and fed you out of my own pocket? I just injected you with 1 million dollars worth of science. And you are still expendable to me. So stop talking. We will be back in an hour to check your vitals.”
The suits left and the tall one slammed the door to Whumpee’s room.
‘Well, I guess they’re in charge.’
As Whumpee’s heart rate slowed from their panic of being in trouble, Whumpee felt their eyelids starting to droop. Whumpee stood up to walk over to their bed and the room began to spin. Stumbling, Whumpee made it to their bed and practically fell into the spongy mattress.
Shivering, Whumpee pulled the thin blanket on top of them and curled into themselves to keep warm. The loudspeaker crackled to life. “Take your seat for the 1 hour inspection.”
Whumpee cracked open their eyes. That couldn’t have been an hour. Did they.. fall asleep? They wanted to get up. They had to. But they just couldn’t will themselves to do it. They felt exhausted. Any slight movement sent waves of pain that shocked them to their core.
The door opened and the two suits re-emerged from wherever the door led to.
“Why are you still in bed?” The tall one started, “The loudspeaker gave you an ORDER.”
“I- *cough* -I-I’m sorry, I- *cough* -I can’t get up.”
The tall one paused as the shorter one pulled the blanket back gently.
“Elaborate.” The tall one commanded as the shorter one listened to Whumpee’s heart and lungs.
“I can’t brea-breathe very w-well and I - *cough* I’m so c-cold,” Whumpee’s teeth chattered. “Any- *wheeze* -anytime I try to move, it f-feels like I’ve be-been hit by a train.”
The tall one recorded this in a notebook and their body language seemed positive.
“Well,” the tall one snapped their book shut, “it looks like you’re worth something to me after all. Congratulations. We will be monitoring you as the illness progresses.”

Miles to Go Before I Sleep- A PJO Fanfiction
I couldn't sleep that night. I paced the room for two hours until late night as if there was something terrible was going to happen. I was worried sick--about Annabeth, about the war, about everything. At midnight, moonlight streamed through the hotel window as I sat, almost lifelessly on the bed, staring into nothing. Suddenly, I heard a creak in the door, and I was about to snatch riptide before I heard a whisper, "Percy? You awake?"
In the shadows, I saw the familiar figure of Grover, tired after a long day of attending to the satyrs. He sat down next to me on the bed, and we both stared at the wall in comfortable silence. For a moment, I could almost close my eyes and imagine that we were 12 year olds at Yancy again. "The Apollo kids are seeing you through the hotel surveillance cameras. They sent me to ask you to sleep" "Since you're the only one right now who I'll listen to?" ".....yep"
While Grover rambled something about him being my unofficial mom right now, I looked at my bedside table, and there it was. Pandora's Jar. Man, I wished the stupid thing would stop following me around, and right now, it wasn't the best time for me to want to resist opening it. Unfortunately, Grover read my emotions. "You want to open it, don't you?"
The question, which had always been on the back of my mind, really stung now that it was said out loud. I think Grover could see I was breaking down a little on the inside, and wrapped me in an awkward hug. "I-I do," it came spilling out of my mouth, my voice cracking. "It just feels like the Fates are giving me an opportunity instead of a challenge. I feel like everything around me is falling apart. I'm not good at handling war. If I give up to Kronos, he'd kill me, as long as I'd make him promise he wouldn't hurt you guys. It's just easier. It's better for everyone else" My eyes felt wet, and I pulled away quickly. Grover looked so lost, I immediately felt bad for making him worry about me. "Go to sleep, Percy," he said in a painful tone, as if I was a delusional grandpa who had gotten loose from the nursing home bed. Before I could say anything, he pulled out his reedpipes. Before I could protest, he started playing soft, sweet music and before I knew it, I was asleep.
In my dream, I was sitting with Annabeth in the strawberry field, while she had a book in her lap. Annabeth was smiling, her hair glinting in the sunlight. She was okay. We were okay. It was a sunny day and all the campers were having fun. I remembered this day; this conversation had happened two months before the war. Woah. That felt so far away.
"I finally found the greek version of this poem!" she said excited, her eyes sparkling, which gave me butterflies. "This poem is really famous for the last four lines, wait-wait, I'll read it out to you" She picked it up. "So the English version of these lines are: "The woods are lovely, dark and deep, but I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep, and miles to go before I sleep" I bumped her shoulder with mine. "Ok, nerd...what's the point?"
She rolled her eyes, but she was smiling. "It basically means that the poet wanted to die and found death a beautiful easy way out, but he realised he still had a duty in his life and that he still had a long way before his time to go, isn't that so poetic?" "I guess. You're better at this than me"
This didn't happen that day, but she opened her arms, as if about to hug me, probably due to Grover's magical reedpipe music, and for a second I felt elated that life felt livable again, before the ground opened up before she could, and I fell into endless darkness.
I woke up, shaking. I felt like I had been given a sweater in the cold before it got snatched away, leaving me back in the freezing winter. Grover was gone. I wanted to go back to sleep. I wanted things to be alright again. I wanted to see Annabeth happy and nerdy as usual and hug her. But sunlight streamed in through the window, and I forced myself out of the bed and went up the stairs to where Annabeth was.
When I walked up to her in the chair, my heart broke again. She looked so different from the dream. Her eyes were weakly staring at the view, she was shivering and her face was still a little gray. "Hey" she said. I checked up on her, talking to her about her health, which was slowly getting better, thankfully, but it didn't stop me from feeling guilty.
As I stared at her hopelessly, Pandora's Jar appeared on the table next to her. Annabeth studied my face. "We should put it in a place where it stays there"
I nodded my head in agreement. I took the jar gingerly in my hands. I looked out into the view from above. The whole city was in my sight. I saw demigods rebuilding the mortal's homes, some of which were damaged after the day's fight. I saw Nico rejoining a skeleton from his army's bones, with Will hovering curiously from a distance. "Is that a coccyx ?" "Gesundheit" If I died, he'd be the prophecy kid. I saw two tired aphrodite girls staring at a broken mirror, as if wondering where their life (and skin) started to break. I needed to keep them going. I needed to survive, I couldn't let them down. I needed to give them what they were fighting for. They were fighting for me. All my depression would have to wait for another day.
"It must be annoying," Annabeth said. "Don't you ever just want to open it?"
"Nah," I gave her my bravest smile, as I carried the jar to the door, where I would give it to be locked in a storage locker in the hotel. "I have promises to keep; and miles to go before I sleep"

Are you taking requests?
If so could you do lee!tanjiro and ler!giyuu? I don’t have anything particular in mind, just something fluffy and light hearted.
I understand and it’s totally okay if u don’t wanna do this :)
Ur work is amazing and keep it up! <3
Aaaaw thanks! Sorry for the delay, for the moment, I wasn't taking requests, but now I am!
(Note: The fic is set in the future)
Tumblr media
Ler: Giyuu Tomioka
Lee: Tanjiro Kamado
Tanjiro narrates: Finally, a world without demons, a dream longed for from generation to generation, I still don't believe it, we have lived so much, but at the same time, lost so much...
Sometimes I wonder, what would have happened if maybe, and only Perhaps we would have met in another context?
The only thing that kept us in "contact" was the objective of exterminating demons, but after the dissolution of the brotherhood, each one took their own path, for example, Shinazugawa-San left, we don't know where, I usually send him letters but, he doesn't answer them, at least it makes me somewhat happy to know that I am still close to Tomioka-San and Uzui-San and his wives.
'Giyuu-San! Hello! How are you doing?!'
'Huh? Hello Tanjiro! Good morning. I'm fine, I'm still getting used to this, but I'm fine'
'It seems like I came at the wrong time, going somewhere? ?'
'Actually, yes, but you can come with me. I don't think Uzui will mind you accompanying me, after all, he appreciates you, right?'
'I suppose I can accompany him. I trust that Nezuko will be in good hands with Zenitsu and Inosuke. Let's go there!'
Tomioka-San, he looks so different now, I'm glad he smiles more now, his smile is pretty, of course, every smile is beautiful (NOT SHIP)
Giyuu Narrates: Who would have thought, before I used to stay away from my hashira companions, but not anymore.
'Uzui-San! How are you doing?!'
'It's you Kamado! Wow, I think Giyuu brought you with him, I'm glad!'
'Tengen-Sama... Shhh... The baby is asleep... Hello guys, excuse me, but could you please lower your voice...?'
'Oh, sorry, let's go talk somewhere else, shall we?'
'Uzui-San, do you have children?'
Oh, what a shame, I had never told Tanjiro about it, although of course, I found out some time later.
'Hinatsuru-San, you look tired, would you mind if I take care of the baby for you?'
'You're very kind Tomioka-Sama... But, I can handle it...'
'Hinatsuru, love, you haven't slept well these days, I'm sure Giyuu can take care of the baby, after all, she's asleep and she's someone heavy sleeper'
'Well, maybe it's also a good time for Tanjiro to meet Himiko...'
Oh, right, I forgot. Himiko is Suma's daughter, but I don't know what happened, apparently she is still not used to it, that is why Makio and Hinatsuru help her.
'Wo-woah... She... She is just like Miss Suma...'
'Right? Although, it is not yet known, she may end up having Uzui's behavior hahaha.'
'Yeah, I guess...'
'Does the baby weigh you down? If that's the case, I can...'
'No, no, it's okay. It's not the first time I've carried a baby'
'I realize that, the baby seems to feel very comfortable with you'
Tanjiro narrates: It's been a long, long time since I've seen a baby, at least not this close.
I usually saw them but I didn't have time to spend time with them, so when Giyuu-San handed me the baby, I got nervous, it had been a long time since I had held someone so small.
'Looking at her better, she looks a bit like Uzui-San... Is her hair a bit white or is it the reflection of the sun?'
'I don't think so, maybe you're right and the baby has some white locks like Uzui'
'I think so... And... What color are her eyes? Do you have Miss Suma's eyes or Uzui-San's eyes?'
'Someone is very curious hahaha. But, to answer your question, she has a mix of both, they are a shade of red, maybe next time you come, you will find her awake and you will see her eyes'
A shade of red...? I thought... I thought I had already closed that episode in my life... I know I can't relate the slightest thing to my family, but, I can't help it... The last time I saw red eyes in a baby, it was in Rokuta, the youngest of my siblings...
I, I hadn't thought about it... They are no longer here but their memories are clear in my mind...
'Tanjiro, is everything okay? Are you crying'
'Hu-huh? I'm sorry, I guess, I have mixed feelings, I'm fine, I swear.'
Giyuu Narrates: I think something I said has hurt Tanjiro, I don't know exactly what, but for his tone of voice to have changed so drastically, it must be something painful.
'Tanjiro, you don't need to lie. Look, I don't know what happened or what made you sad, but I'm sorry, I didn't mean to.'
'I know, Giyuu-San, I know. They're just my thoughts... Don't worry...'
'Can I try to cheer you up?'
'Huh... I think I know what you mean, sure, I guess, but what about the baby?'
Smart guy, although he had a point, the baby couldn't be left unattended, what a dilemma.
'E-eh...! Gi-Gihiyuhu... The ehehehe bahahaby!'
'Kid, I'm just sliding my fingers up and down your neck, is it that bad?'
'I-I mhmhmhm dohohohon't ahahahaha knohohow...! I'll le-lehehet yuhuhu ti-tickle meeee, buhuhuhut when the ba-baby isn't aslehehehehep!'
'Well, you promised. Honestly, I can't consider this tickling. You know well that I tend to be much worse than this, it's not even a warm-up, you're just too ticklish.'
'Yohohou tohohoho... Aaaah!! Gi-Gihu-Gihiyuhuhu!! Ahahahaha!!! Pleheahasehehe!!'
'Think better about your words when you address me, Kamado Tanjiro.'

Royal Pain Part 24
All righty, folks! Before we get to Steve, we have the band on tour and Eddie is really, really gonna go through it this chapter.
Pt 1 Pt 2 Pt 3 Pt 4 Pt 5 Pt 6 Pt 7 Pt 8 Pt 9 Pt 10 Pt 11 Pt 12 Pt 13 Pt 14 Pt 15 Pt 16 Pt 17 Pt 18 Pt 19 Pt 20 Pt 21 Meta Pt 22 Pt 23
****
Once they were on the road and the euphoria of getting the job offer of a lifetime wore off, a sense of unease settled in Eddie’s gut. He knew he should feel excited. He was doing the one thing he always dreamed about doing ever since his mom gave him his first guitar. A sweet little acoustic that he had written “This Machine Slays Dragons”. He still had it, but right now it was safe with Wayne.
But he didn’t. He just felt empty. Not good or bad. Just...empty. Like a bottle leftover from some party. Once part of a good time, now just an empty shell.
Eddie looked over at his friends. Jeff and Brian were talking, while Gareth was asleep. He pulled out his sweetheart. The way he always did when he got down.
He closed his eyes and began to play. The chords where slow and mellow. He wasn’t sure how long he played like that, just pouring his soul out into his music, but when he opened his eyes he saw that all three of his friends were staring at him open-mouthed.
“Holy shit, dude,” Brian said after closing his mouth with audible click. “Where did that come from?”
Gareth waved a piece of paper in his hand. “I wrote down as much as I could, because seriously, that was fucking incredible.”
Eddie ducked his head and blushed. “I guess I just needed to work out some shit.”
Jeff and Brian shared a glance and then Brian moved over and sat next to him.
“I think I know what you mean,” he said. “And I think you should write the lyrics too.”
Eddie looked up at him and then at Jeff and Gareth. They nodded.
“I just don’t know,” he said. “It all feels too personal to write down.”
Jeff scoffed. “And that’s exactly why you should. Because it’s personal. There’s a damn good reason that you’ve written ninety percent of our songs, man.”
Gareth nodded. “Because you’re fucking brilliant at it. Write the song. I think everyone needs to hear it.”
Eddie nodded. He got right to work on the lyrics. Taking what Gareth had transcribed and reworking the song with the lyrics. He was nearly done by the time they stopped.
Brian patted his shoulder. “Hey, man. Don’t worry, we’ve got this. You continue working on your song. I’ll send someone to get you when it’s time for the sound check, okay?”
Eddie let out a shuddering sigh. “You guys sure you don’t need an extra hand?”
Gareth laughed. “Fuck we need several, but don’t worry about yours. They’re doing the important part.”
Jeff nodded. “Yeah, we’ve got this.”
*
Eddie wasn’t sure how long he was lost in his head working on the song, but he had just put down his pen when there came a knock on the door.
He got up to answer it and saw a small Hispanic woman standing out there. “Yeah?”
“It’s sound check time,” she said. “And the drummer said something about a set of headphones or something?”
Eddie looked around and spotted the sound-canceling headphones by the table. He picked them up. “I’ve got them. I’ll make sure he gets them.”
He closed the door but it hadn’t closed all the way because he heard her say, “God, what kind of loser wears noise canceling headphones to a metal concert.”
Eddie’s blood turned to ice. He picked up his guitar and carried it out of the bus.
Thankfully she wasn’t around otherwise he would have blown up at her.
He made his way through the labyrinth that was the backstage to get to where he needed to be for the sound check.
Gareth came running up to him. “Oh thank god! I thought I lost them already.”
Eddie scoffed. “Nope, just left them on the bus like a dork.”
Gareth stuck his tongue out at him.
Eddie got to work setting up for his kit. He was almost done when a sound guy came up to him.
“We’re having trouble syncing our sound to your drummer’s headset,” he told him. “Does he need them for this?”
“What’s the problem?” Eddie asked. “They didn’t have trouble in Indy.”
The guy sighed. “Our system is newer and it’s causing feedback.”
Eddie pulled out fifty bucks from his wallet. “Go buy a pair that works. And if that doesn’t cover it, I’ll pay you back.”
The guy just rolled his eyes and did as he was told.
They played that night to a sell out crowd. They were only opening for Metallica, but damn the crowd got them going. Afterwards he called Steve and chatted about their day. His day was more exciting to be sure, but he loved hearing about the client that passed out at the sight of the needle. Apparently they hadn’t realized that tattooing in involved the pesky things and had an absolute fear of them.
Then someone was tapping him on the shoulder telling him had to go. He said goodbye to Steve and was rushed out the door.
Even though they only had three shows in those two weeks, they were quickly learning that playing wasn’t the only thing a band had to do on the road.
There were parties, and talk and radio shows, and photo shoots, and signings.
Sometimes he would get to speak to Steve, but most of the time it was leaving voicemail after voicemail.
All around him he kept hearing:
“Three weeks isn’t a relationship! It’s a fling!”
“He’s not a fan of metal? What is he a fan of?”
James came up behind Eddie and clapped him on the back. “Everything okay back home?”
Eddie stared at his phone. He had just left his third message that day with Steve.
“Yeah,” he said, voice shaking a bit. “It’s just we were so new to the relationship part, we were friends before that, that I worry being on tour has hurt us in someway.
James nodded. “It’s hard being on the road, away from family. It’s why most of us take them with us when we can.”
Eddie chewed on his lip. “It’s hard because he has his own tattoo shop and recently took on two apprentices so he’s like super busy.”
James pursed his lips. “That can certainly make it hard. What time is he off?”
“Eight.”
“Tell you what,” he said. “Instead of doing on encore tonight, why don’t you boys bow out and spend time talking to your families. It’ll be good for morale all around, I think.”
Eddie sighed gratefully. “Yeah. I’ll bring it up to them and see what they say.”
James squeezed his shoulder and went on his way.
“If the drummer doesn’t like noise why did he chose drums as an instrument?”
“A drummer that startles at loud noises? Get a new drummer!”
Lars paused them on their way to the sound check in Houston. “Hey, I know you guys are only doing a couple more shows, but after that fiasco with the Chicago guys me and the boys decided to spring for everyone to get a set of these.”
He handed the case to Eddie.
He opened it up to reveal little black earbuds. “What are these?”
“It’s what all touring artists wear,” Lars explained. “They’re fitted to cover the full inside of the earlobe to drown out the sounds around you so you can hear your own music.”
“Oh wow, that’s neat.” Eddie put one in and was amazed at the quality. “Thanks, man. I appreciate it.”
Lars grinned. “It’s mainly for your drummer. Everyone deserves accommodations for any kind of disability and if the loud noises bother him, it makes it hard for everyone else to concentrate because you guys are worried about him.”
Eddie smiled. “Thanks!”
“It’s a pity that tattoo will never be finished. I could give you the name of my artist if you want!”
“It’s a shame that your tattoo artist wasn’t good enough to finish the tattoo before you left, maybe you could get covered with something else. Something better than that.”
The band was admiring Eddie’s back tattoo.
“I’m really liking the details, man,” Kirk said.
Robert nodded. “Hell yeah. Who’s your artist? He does some really sick work.”
Eddie blushed, grateful his back was too them. “He’s my boyfriend, Stevie.”
“Damn, you’ll never have to pay for another tattoo ever again,” Lars said. “Lucky.”
Jeff laughed. “Nah, knowing Steve, he’d probably charge Eddie an extra mayhem tax.”
Kirk and Lars shared a look and then nodded unison.
“Fair,” the said together.
Eddie yelped, “Hey!”
He turned to Gareth and Brian, but they agreed with Jeff, too.
“And they said I’m the menace.”
“Ooh, honey, let me take you somewhere private. Your boyfriend will never know.”
“It’s a shame he’s gay, all the girls are just gaga for that doe-eyed look of his.”
Eddie turned down another request to share his hotel room. Never mind that he was sharing with all the other members of Corroded Coffin and wouldn’t have had any kind of privacy. Never mind he had a boyfriend back home. Never mind he was gay.
It didn’t seem to matter with these people. Hot rock star equals slut apparently.
“How the hell do you do it?” he asked James. “You have been married to the same woman for twenty five years and you still get women throwing themselves at you.”
“It’s hard,” James said with a shrug. “But she’s more important then any roll in the hay ever will be.”
Eddie nodded, pursing his lips. Steve was more important then any roll in the hay. He could hold on to that.
“I know he’s your friend, but maybe it’s time to get a touring drummer. He can still record with you or whatever. But he’s really holding the band back right now.”
Gareth isn’t just some guy. He was family. He wasn’t even Corroded Coffin’s first drummer that dubious honor went Kyle Creevy, a snot nosed, freckled kid whose arms were barely thicker than the drumsticks he played with. But he moved right before Eddie’s ninth grade year and Gareth just slid into their lives.
They may have been playing at the Nightmare Holes for seven years but the band been together for much longer than that. They had been playing for over a decade. And unless they had someone that could learn their music in mere months were Gareth had taken years...they could fuck off.
God, the members of Metallica had been playing together for forty years and the only change they’d made was when a member fucking died.
“That back tattoo of yours is really not a good look. It’s the biggest part and no one will ever see it.”
Eddie couldn’t make them understand the tattoo wasn’t meant to be seen, it was meant to be felt. To put to feeling growing up as a small town pariah and making it out. Not ending up in jail like his dad or dead like his mom. To be the Freak and turn it into something special. To finally find his wings.
Steve understood. God, he missed Steve so much and he felt like he was pulling away. It was like a rubber band being stretched. It might snap or might not, but whatever happened it would never be the same.
The members of the band’s team shooed these people away when it got to be too much for him.
“Fame and fortune wait for no man. It’s time to lose the dead weight.”
He came close to punching that guy. Some haughty agent they met in Houston.
It was thrilling to watch security throw him out.
“The long hair went out in the eighties, darling. I really think a half shaved look would be better for you.”
Eddie laughed at that last one straight in their face. Kirk fucking Hemmet still had long curly hair, they could fuck the fuck right off.
But then the tour was over. They were going home.
